  1. Hello ! Here is finally my fresh new activity on Brethren of the Brick Seas ! I will tell you some little brief stories or tales taking place in the BOBs world. All the stuff I am telling is to be taken carefully as this is not the official Lore of the game. Game that I am letting to others to develop. I will just tell some little nice stories I always wanted to do but never find the time to. The buildings that will be created on these stories are not meant to be used in the EGS of the official game, and if someone (anyone, even if from the leading staff) wants to use them; Please to be kind enough to ask me before by PM. Thanks ! This condition is the only thing I am posing. I hope it is cristal clear. Now, Let's begin the story ! Eslandola at war ? Non-sense my dear ! Take an apple and relax ! In Terelli, the Green capital, the New Discoveries of the last few years have been turn to sour. The Political and Diplomatical situation had became very tense and even ancient trade partners began to worry. It was whispered that the Trade Companies launched a war towards Mardier; The Great Old Empire, and it was muttered that the King Had turn mad and claimed Oleon Throne ! In order to calm down the too warm spirits; Don Diego De la Verdad, the Great Lord Chanceller of El Palacio de Oro (The Golden Palace), The King Summer Palace in Terelli, decided to open a great meeting with the current Eslandolan trade partners. He welcomed personnally the Delegations from all the countries. A fact to be noted is that the Oleon and Corrington representants were ready to shake hands ! The Juniper war was not so vivid in the spirits of those nations. A good sign or is it not ? Thought the Chanceller. He hadn't had the time to digress on that as the Namerian Delegation entered; just followed by some "Private" partners. - Ah welcome ! Welcome Lord Van Gelluck ! Said Don De la Verdad to the Namere Ambassador. - Nice to see you my Dear. Answered the Namerian with a north accent. I thought it was not time to welcome us as I understand your country is at war ?! He added. - Eslandola at war ? Non-sense my dear ! Take an apple and relax ! Clamed Don Diego de la Verdad louder to be well heard. And The two men entered in an animated debate like they always do. This time was not so bad for Eslandola business after all... Of course, Comments and Criticisms are very welcome. Thanks !
  2. Prior build - In the Dark of the Night At the gates of the Pontis Wing of the Palais Royal in Granoleon the continued buzzing of diplomatic channels created yet another chapter. Lighting up the Diplomatic Furnace 'This is going to cost them' the Lord Chancellor thought to himself. It was an exceptionally mild day in Granoleon given the time of the year. Yet, there was a feeling of dooming winter in the air. Something was coming. He had experienced everything in his diplomatic life, still the recent developments were unusual – even to him. But strangely, as most of the Royal Court of Granoleon was afraid – some terrified princes had even left the city – Calida looked forward to their unveiling. It was the general opinion at the Royal Court and within the High Council that this time King Fernando had gone too far. First, there was the fact that he still hadn't withdrawn his ridiculous and illegitimate claim to the Oleander Throne. A fact, that didn't bother Calida much, and even His Majesty tended to look the other way due to Fernando's dynastic ties to the Royal Court. Then his forces occupied a small and utterly unimportant tiny little island somewhere in the Eastern Seas. A fact much more troublesome already, one that only with a lot of diplomatic goodwill could be seen as a move against Mardier alone. But now having Eslandolian troops attack and seize Oleander military installations. And rumors had it that he was assembling an army for a full-fledged attack against Oleon. This could no longer be ignored. The Eslandolian tendency to aggressively create faits accomplis had become too dangerous to bear. There were rules in this world. He had lived through too much to allow such rogue and dangerous actions to pass without opposition. He knew what appeasement could lead to. A line needed to be drawn. To this point, but no further! 'You have your orders.' Calida snarled at the diplomat. 'Make it happen!' 'Yes, your Excellence, I will see it through.' The diplomat replied eagerly, as expected from a devoted servant in His Majesty's service. Yet, something seemed to trouble him, something had him hesitate. 'Your Excellence, if this meeting with the representatives of Her Highness Queen Annetta goes as planned... does that mean...' The Lord Chancellor slowly turned his head and with a hissing tone he snapped at him 'Don't ask questions you won't like the answers to!' To be continued...

    [OL - FB1] The 'Triton'

Ahoy, mateys! Time for a ship - first one in a while, therefore something a little larger. The 'Triton' With Oleon's colonial possessions growing in numbers and importance to Crown and nation, His Majesty has decided to reinforce La Royale's 'Flotte de l'Est' with a number of heavy hitters over the next couple of months. The first one that has recently arrived in the waters of New Terra is HRS Triton, a 60 gun Man-of-War, now moored in Breshaun harbor, using Oleon's largest city on LeBellan as her base of operations. Triton is a veteran of the Forty-Nine Years War, one of the few surviving vessels of the Oleander fleet back then, and for some months even served as the Grand Admiral's flagship. She may be old by now, but in the hands of a capable commander she can still deliver a devastating punch to her adversaries. About: As always, all parts exist, so Triton could be built. To be honest, Triton's hull is more than four years old by now. I started her when I wanted to try out a galleon design, but quickly lost interest, as my mind wandered to other projects... well, a clear sign of a very short attention span Anyways, recently I dug her up again and decided to finish her, so she could take her righteous place within BoBS. As Triton is prefab based/limited, she's quite narrow, and the hull technique is rather outdated in my eyes, too, but all in all she doesn't look too ill proportioned. Some numbers: Triton's piece count is a little under 7000, length at waterline is 97 studs, total length 126, beam 20. One day I might try my hands on a more sophisticated galleon design... maybe Until then, I hope Triton serves Oleon well. C&C welcome! Vive le Roi!

    [OL - CH4B] Bon Voyage!

Ahoy, fellow fleet protectors and plunderers! After the prequel, here's the continuation - Cat. B entry incoming! Bon Voyage! A week after the events in the green navy's HQ back in Terr... let's not do this again – green capital city – the esland... seriously?! – THAT nation's treasure fleet was on its way. The Kings Port Advertiser featured that awareness poster in its latest edition, the fleet had left Nell... that green island in the East – smooth, Mr. Narrator, smooth... without any incidents, and what was best of all – there were no rumors out on the streets about a large convoy filled with gold whatsoever. The green chief's plan had worked out. Kudos on that, Mr. green chief! Time to relax and have a look at one of the treasure ships en route, shall we? What have we got... this one right here, yes, the Santa Clara. Once famed expedition ship of whatwashisname Ivo Fortesque, now commanded by his son Pedro, and assigned a task not less important than the discovery of new shores – the collection of the riches of said shores. Yes, the Santa Clara, here she is. ...wait, is she being boarded by Oleanders? Ah, no, this is just a patrol, obviously helping the fleet to steer clear of the reefs and shallows in the tricky northern waters of LeBellan. Yes, Oleanders, what friendly folks, by the way much nicer than those uptight and arrogant Corries... but let's not go there. Back to the Santa Clara. Well, it seems she and the rest of the fleet will soon be on the final stage of their journey, on the finish-line so to speak, only save waters ahead – what could possibly go wrong now?! Bon voyage! … wait... I just thought I had seen something in the water... … WHAT THE...!!! What is this? What is going on?? Is this a... are those those... MINIONS??? *looses it* It seems... they've come up with a... device – wait, is that their toy from the sewers, but in big?! – and have drilled right through the hull of the Santa Clara... now vacuuming and shoveling the gold right into their dive boat! And nobody is taking notice!! They... they are sneaky geniuses!!! Oh my gods, actually, I'm not even mad, that's amazing!!!! *grabs popcorn* Well, it seems the narrator is gone for a while, so let me continue from here. Nice to meet you, let me show you my overhanging bowsprit... Ahem, let's better have some more pics of the MOC, after all we've barely just met... And lastly, the ships - together with their 'toy' versions: About: Well, where to start... as usual all parts exist, both vessels can be built. I finally managed to finish the Santa Clara, complete with a full hull - which in general is maybe the most annoying thing I've ever 'had' to build. Credits for the technique go to cb4 and Frank Brick Wright. As you can see the upper part of the ship merely rests on the lower hull, which might not seem that stable per se, but something tells me this works... Next, the 'device' - it's sort of a diving vessel, propelled mechanically, and - as the narrator has already pointed out - equipped with a circular saw and a drill for sneak attacks from down below. In case you're wondering where I got the idea from... well, I kind of grew up with it, as the 'Tauchboot' is prominently featured in an old GDR comic, that I've always loved. And the best thing: once the minions dive off, the cut out part of the hull neatly falls back in place... hopefully - otherwise the Santa Clara is doomed So, in the end it seems those Minions are to be reckoned with after all. Still not sure whether this qualifies as protecting or plundering the fleet Hope you enjoy C&C welcome! Vive le Roi!
  5. They knew about the Golden Fleet, but nothing about the escort... The Eslandian authorities, well aware of the leak of their intel concerning the Golden Fleet, had decided to keep more or less the same route, as it was considered the fastest and probably the safest (if we were not counting the numerous pirates that would try to plunder the fleet). So, they decided to recruit some new vessels to create a good escort. This is where the brand new vessel of Felipe de la Manzana had been sent for her maiden trip... Captain Log, end of September 616 : The Galleon we are in charge is peacefully setting sail to our next stop where we will resupply with fresh water, but I am not sure we will not see another pirate flag before. It was exhausting for my crew to protect this Golden Fleet... Every corner of every rock or sand bank from Nellisa to Terelli is welcoming a vessel ready to attack us. Bl...dy officials who are not capable of keeping this fleet a secret. I just left this log away a few minutes and we are already seeing a black sail... It has become a routine now, my sailors are well trained and my artillery crew has became more accurate. Finally, this escort will be a good training for them... Well, I am back to my log, just to report that we effectively intercepted a pirate ship trying to plunder the fleet. The Galleon had been touched but suffered no real damage. My crew managed to cut the road of the pirates apparently quite surprised to discover a heavy armed frigate to stop them. Apparently they knew about the Golden Fleet, but nothing about the escort. This is the official log Felipe de la Manzana left at the Terelli port officer when he arrived safely. After that run, he returned with his brand new Frigate to Elisabethtown to join Basil. He did not knew he would receive urgent orders from the crown just at his arrival... But this is another story... This is, finally, my challenge 4B entry. I hope you will like it ! I really wanted to try some micro ships based on LEGO canot hull. Garmadon made already one and it was so amazing that I couldn't pass on that technique. This challenge was the best opportunity for me to try several ship designs. Your comments and criticisms are very welcome !
  6. An old cook made butcher. When Felipe and Basil arrived at Fuerte Unido with their new vessel, they brang with them a crew of value. And one of those capable men was the board cook... He was a strong man burnt by the sun and a capable sailor in addition to be a great cook ! At the arrival to Fuerte Unido, he took on himself to develop a butcher shop and asked to Felipe to stay in Fuerte Unido to feed the soldiers. Felipe simply could not refuse. So he let his best cook at land to be a butcher. Now the butcher shop is newly open ! The pork gardian, a poor boy, too young to be a good mousse, is already bringing some piggies from the fortified farm built among the rocks. Inside the shop our former sailor is serving some clients. This is a small commerce built in Fuerte Unido for the Operation KMA. C & Cs are welcome.
  7. Applying the new orders. Felipe de la Manzana and Basil landed in time in Isla de Victoria, also known as Skaford heighs. Felipe immediately sent a team to gather the ressources needed to develop an armed settlement. He explained Basil the contents of the new orders he received before : - Did you understand well our new orders, Basil ? - Yes, Sir ! Of course. We received an important message from the Crown relayed by the 3 Trade Companies that's giving power to Jerome Monezterell and to el Capitan Alonzo to Kapture Mardier's Assets and Kill Mardier's Army in the island we are claiming as Isla de Victoria. We have been asked to support the war effort by providing supplies of all kind in the camp named Fuerte Unido and develop it to a strong settlement. - Yes, Basil, you got it. But I thought KMA meant Kick Mardier's... Assets. Well, the name of this operation is not important. The top priority of our teams is to gather wood and food. - Our team...S... ? - Yes ! I sent the Pineapple revenge from Prio to this island to find food and try to contact the natives we heard rumors of. - Oh ! I see, Senor de la Manzana, you involved many of our troops in here. - Yes ! I hope this natives could help me to progress on my Quest, and cutting down some jungle is always a pleasure... Saying that Felipe and Basil started to supervise the lumberjack team near Fuerte Unido. The team was already at work and many trees have been cut down to provide the camp the necessary wood to build. The carts were doing deliveries at regular speed and the first buildings were already up. Some Ténotclaxcan men were now well integrated in the crew and were helping the team. Of course, there is always some lazy guys that prefer to sit and eat some delicious apple instead of working... This build is part of the KMA project lead by the Eslandola team. This is the continuation of the official war we declare to Mardier. More to come soon... Of course, C & Cs are welcome.
  8. Meeting the natives of Isla de Victoria : Like Felipe de la Manzana explained to Basil, The Pineapple Revenge, under the order of a new captain, El Capitan Jonagold, have been sent to Isla de Victoria to find food to provide to the troops. When they arrived, they noticed there were some little fishing sail pirogues all around and el Capitan Jonagold decided to follow one returning to its port. What they discovered was a nice little fishing shag inhabited by apparently pacific native fishermen. The natives were surprised to encounter new men in this area. "A good sign", thought El Capitan, Mardier is not really present in here... The natives were happy to find new customers ready to buy some fish. They really well welcomed Jonagold and his crew. They are ready to help to develop Fuerte Unido and will send fish to the new settlement ! Another build for the Operation KMA. It is a small commerce built in Fuerte Unido. C & Cs are welcome.
  9. Meanwhile in Bastion. It's Friday night. What's there to do? Well, let's go to the Drunken Fish to decide which of the Challenge IV islands we'd want over a few drinks. I have the perfect democratic selection procedure. The Drunken Fish Pub by dr_spock_888, on Flickr
  10. A new house which comes with new orders... Life was quiet in Elisabethtown those days. The citizens were developping the new settlement at a constant speed and the shipyards were providing some nice ships of all kind, from the massive trader clippers of the Monezterell shipyards to the modest light armed sloops of Felipe's shipyard. Speaking of those shipyards, Felipe was there to prepare something linked to his Golden Apple Quest. So, Basil took this free time to visit his new residence in town with her lovely companion, Pinya, The young Ténotclaxcan priestess he met. They have became closer during the prepartion of the Hall Quest and helping the Doctor... Doctor Who it was ? , Ah ! Yes ! Doctor Gellibrand... to settle a camp to study the Ténotclaxcans. The house was one of the first made of stone in this brand new town and respected the Eslandian Style better than the other ones. The blue paint applied to it made her shine in the tropical sun of Berelli and the garden was already growing in front of the facade. Pinya appreciated it : - It's nice to see you kept a little space for the plants ! Good thing ! You know, it's hard for us to see you destroying our jungle and not replacing it by other trees... - I know. Answered Basil. But you know Felipe and I lost in an awful jungle, and since this event, we are not fond of, well...how to call this... "un-disciplined foliage". - Sure ! So it's good to see you "dicipline" those plants ! When they entered, Basil immediately offered Pinya to have a drink at the kitchen. They where enjoying a good Cider and some apples when the door suddenly opened. It was Felipe de la Manzana rushing into the hall without a care either at the nice floor design nor to the owner tranquility (Basil, for instance...) - Basil ! He clamed. We received a important letter ! Read it ! We have some new orders now ! Is our new vessel is ready ? We need to leave as soon as possible ! Assemble the crew now and prepare your stuff ! To be continued... in : Operation KMA : Applying the new orders Here are some bonus pictures of the house : I hope you enjoyed ! C&Cs are always welcome.
  11. Our story begins with the Eslandolan treasure ship and her armed escorts anchored in an island cove for the night. Their crew and ships slept peacefully with minimal night watch, confident that no one knew they were there. Little did they know that their secret confidential itinerary had been scandalously kinky compromised. Like Rodentia Rattus, the pirates used the relative safety of darkness to get around the escort service. They knew they couldn't take on the Eslandolan Ships of the Line. Silence was golden as they paddled towards the anchored ships in the cove. Soon the treasure ship was infested with Rattus Piratus. The night watch deceased by the plague of cold hard blacksmith steel. The pirates scampered quickly to get the treasure off the ship, tossing treasure chests overboard to waiting hands. An agreement is an agreement. The pirates returned to the reputable establishment to hand over a share of the treasure for the information provided by "Xenia". Loose lips didn't sink ships but maybe some Eslandolan officers' careers. The End
  12. Ahoy, mateys! Here's my Challenge IV Cat. A entry - witness the return of the dreadful Colonial MinionsTM *evil laughter in the background* What Could Possibly Go Wrong?! Somewhere in Terelli... no, it is Tereli... no no no, it must be Terrelli... oh well, never mind... Somewhere in the capital of Esland... andia. Hmm... no, that's also not quite it, not really simply somewhere in the capital of Eslan... d'oh... ria... Alright, now: In the office of the Secretary of the Eslandian...doliander...ser... ahh, screw this... In the office of the secretary of the Green Nation's Navy. 'Have I made myself clear?' The Green Chief skeptically looked at the guy standing in front of him. 'Why again did I hire him?!' He thought. 'Okay, one more time. Here are two letters. The one in my left hand is meant to be brought directly to the admiral of the Esland... of our fleet. The letter in my right hand is for the chief editor of the Kings Port Advertiser for immediate printing. In short: The letter in my left hand goes to the fleet, the letter in my right hand to the newspaper. Do you understand?' The guy looked at him with a smile that strangely hadn't changed during the whole conversation – what a weirdo. Oh, sorry for that comment, I'm only the narrator here. Anyways, the guy went '…!' 'Right' the Green Chief now remembered the reason for hiring that fellow. 'You guys don't talk much. Yes, yes, yes. Splendid.' He couldn't have sent an official courier to the harbor, it was simply too dangerous these days, as there were spies and corrupt officials everywhere. It's Esland... olia after all. Sorry, another narrator comment. Where were we? Right... Dangerous. And the treasure fleet needed to be absolutely safe! So hiring a bunch of weird guys unable to talk as messengers – nobody would suspect a thing. Brilliant! 'Now, get going!' Confident with his plan, the Green Chief put on a smile, too. 'What could possibly go wrong?!' he thought. Oh, narrator here – again In case you're wondering what's inside these letters... Well, the one intended for the admiral contains a map with the route the fleet is meant to take from Nelissa/Nellisa/Nelisa/Nellissa. And the letter going to the Kings Port Advertiser contains sort of a poster add, reminding every green citizen to keep their mouths shut about state secrets – you know, matters of national security and such, pretty standard these days. Oh, narrator here once more, just FYI, that strange yellow fellow dude wasn't alone: It seems there's a whole bunch of – what shall I call them – minions living underneath the city in the sewers. Effing weird, if you ask me. But no one ever does, so, well, just have a look at them, and I'll leave you to it. Narrator out. And an overview of the map side: Last but not least, a detail of the poster side: about: Well, this was quite some fun bringing back the Colonial MinionsTM. Do they look like guys with a plan to you? Wait and see. You might wanna remember their strange toy for Cat. B What else... The poster is based on a WWII awareness poster, a simple google search will surely show it. As always, all parts exist, and the entire structure can be built, I think - it all fits diagonally on a 32x32 plate. With the right amount of clutch power the sewer water and the sea part with the ship should hold in place, as they are attached to the wall and additionally supported by bars. I hope you enjoy C&C welcome! Vive le Roi!
  13. This is the second part of a multi-part collaborative with Bregir which will consist of our Challenge 4 entries as well as a free build or two. Hope you enjoy and please feel free to make C&C as usual! Also I plan on licensing the tavern as a small artisan in Mooreton Bay. Prior builds: In The Captain's Cabin Following builds: Arriving at Mooreton Bay _________________________________________________________________________ “Major Allcock, you asked me to notify you if our agents heard significant news from Leopoldis, well this morning I have received some troubling correspondence from my contact there” opened ETTC Agent for Alicentia, Colin Jenkins. “Do go ahead my dear Sir, what are our neighbours up to?” asked an instantly interested Dirk. “It appears a large warship has recently arrived in the harbour there, my man claims it is a sixth-rate frigate….” Dirk instantly sat up, that size vessel was larger than any Corrington naval vessel currently in the new world. “A sixth-rate? Is he sure?” he asked. “He is ex-navy, so I assume he would know.” “The vessel is from the Garvian Navy?” asked Dirk. “Well this is where it gets interesting,” said Jenkins, “apparently she was, although her status is now unclear. The crew are rumoured to be serving under letters of marque and it has reported to have been seen flying the black – so I assess it is currently serving as a privateer.” Dirk by now was quite visibly worried. This was indeed major news. The presence of such a large privateer so close to the Corlander possessions of Alicentia and Cocovia was very concerning. The fact it was a Garvian privateer, apparently using the the Garvian settlement of Leopoldis on Alicentia as a base was equally worrying to Dirk, who had a latent fear of conflict between Corrington and Garvey for possession of Alicentia. “This is indeed troubling, is there any other information?” asked Dirk “No, that is all he had to report, that and the name of the vessel, The Black Oak.” Replied Jenkins. “We must find out more. I will need to alert Commander Cooke and Sir Thomas Smaugton on Cocovia, but without more information on the vessels intentions the news is of little value.” Dirk paused, Commander Jonathan Cooke was the Military Governor of Cocovia and Mayor of King's Harbour. Sir Thomas was the mayor of Quinsville, the other Corlander settlement on Cocovia. “Actually Cooke is due to visit here on his way back to Cocovia within the next fortnight. I must have more information to present to him then.” With that the two men exchanged salutations, and Dirk rushed off to plan how to obtain more information. A couple of days later….. Davy Russell, former Captain of the pirate vessel Bonne Voyage, now convict in Mooreton Bay, entered 'The Yellow Mermaid', a seedy tavern, with a suitably disguised Major Allcock. Davy enjoyed a privileged position for a convict – while some of his more roguish former comrades laboured away in penal work parties around the island, the charismatic and educated former pirate had integrated his way into the Major’s inner circle. Using knowledge accumulated over his years of experience as a mariner and his contacts throughout the Sea of Storms and beyond, he provided advice and information to Dirk to assist in the running of the settlement. It was such information that led the two men to this tavern. Yesterday a sailor had appeared in the settlement claiming to be from Leopoldis and bragging about a privateer crew poised to take a prize so big, they would never have to sail again. Davy, knowing the Major was actively looking for information on the rumoured privateer in Leopoldis, had dutifully reported his presence. Dirk, desperate for more information before Commander Cooke arrived, had donned a disguise and had accompanied Davy to the tavern to find out more. On entering the tavern, the barman, an associate of Davy, silently nodded towards a drunken and dishevelled sailor in the corner of the room, who appeared to be mumbling into an empty cup of rum. “Hello matey!” exclaimed Davy. Dirk waited back in the shadows. “Looks like you be needing a refill of that there cup! – Barman, two more of your finest if you please” “We only be having rotgut and you well know it Davy” rejoined the Barman, slamming two cups of sickly smelling rum on the bench. “Aye well, it’s all grog ain’t it!” then Davy turned back to the drunken sailor, who was looking around blankly, startled at this sudden intrusion into his misery and yet not believing his luck in a full cup. “What brings you here friend?” asked Davy. “They kicked me off” explained the indignant drunk. “Who kicked you off what?” “The Captain kicked me off the Oak” explained the drunk as if that made perfect sense to all. “Just kicked me off…. Told me if I ever showed my face around the settlement again they’d keelhaul me…. Me Rotgut Roger. Keelhaul me….. “ As Dirk observed silently, the conversation continued back and forth at a rather painful pace. Davy draw out that the drunk, whose name apparently was Roger, had been run off the Garvian privateer accused of breaking into the rum supply – an accusation Dirk had no problems believing. What was interesting is that the drunk constantly mentioned the huge amount of treasure the ship was expecting to plunder. Could this treasure be from plundering Mooreton Bay? Dirk didn’t think so, surely there wasn’t enough in his small settlement to attract such rumours. However try as he might, Davy couldn’t extract any more from the sailor, who had now lapsed into a drunken stupor, and was incoherently babbling in the corner. The two men turned and left, Dirk generously tipping the barman on the way out. Now he had confirmed the frigate in Leopoldis was a privateer, and one intent on some large scale plunder… but where and or who???? The next day…. Dirk was awoken early in the morning when Xochitl unexpectedly arrived in his quarters bearing news. A Halosian man had been found by her father’s warriors wandering deep in the jungle. The tribesmen believed he was fleeing from Leopoldis, and knowing Dirk’s interest in that place had sent for him immediately. Later in the day, guided by Xochitl and her attendants, Dirk arrived at the scene where a tattered man lay. Several warriors stood around, although none ventured to close to the man, who was clearly not in a good way – pale, with a visible fever and several seeping wounds. Dirk approached and indicated for Xochitl to bring water. “Ho friend, help is here.” Said Dirk in a soothing voice. The man looked up, his cloudy eyes not really seeing. “dying” he croaked. “must warn the fleet…” he gasped. “We’ll have you back in civilisation soon” replied Dirk, although he realised the sad truth, it was too late, the man was clearly dying. Xochitl passed him a piece of paper she had found in the man's pocket. It was a personal letter and quickly scanning it Dirk learned the man was named Juan deLuna and was a treasury clerk from the Eslandolian settlement of Nellisa. “Who are you?” asked Dirk, “kidnapped… taken from Nellisa…. you must warn them….” “Warn who friend, who kidnapped you?” “Pirates, Garvians…… warn the treasure fleet….. the secret is known…. You must warn them….” With that the man made a final effort to clear his vision, unfortunately he must have recognised the red uniform coat Dirk was wearing as he gave a startled gasp. “You’re not Eslandolian!!” he exclaimed. With that what remaining colour was left in his face drained, his eyes rolled back into his head and he died. Dirk stood up, shook his head at the watching Sergeant Gowen, who now approached. “Most interesting Sergeant,” commented Dirk, “It would seem the pieces of our puzzle are coming together” “If you say so Sir,” replied Sergeant Gowan. Dirk stared into the jungle pensively and reviewed what he had discovered. A large Garvian Privateer had arrived in Leopoldis. The crew of the privateer were boasting of a potentially huge prize. Now an Eslandolan man turns up, claiming to have been abducted from Nellisa and who died fleeing his capturers – capturers who were almost certainly those same Garvian privateers. And the dying man clearly concerned with warning the ‘treasure fleet’. Yes the pieces to this puzzle were starting to make sense. Another fusilier approached through the undergrowth. “Sir, our lookouts are reporting the approach of Commander Cooke’s ship” reported the private. “Excellent, let us go and greet him and Don Montoya.” replied Dirk, confident he now had enough to make a report and informed assessment. _______________________________________________________________________ And a final image to prove it's all in the 32x32 footprint!
  14. The 'An Holli Corrington College', or The 'Corrish' or 'Red' School to the locals, has been completed in the Eslandolan settlement of Weelond. The school is ultimately the result of correspondence between the Mayor of Weelond, Willem Guilder and the temporary military governor of Alicentia, Major Dirk Allock. Mayor Guilder, concerned regarding the lack of educational facilities in his settlement, wrote to Major Allock in his capacity as a fellow (albeit yet to be confirmed) controller of a settlement, and a Corlander famed for his membership and patronage of the Royal Society of Natural Philosophy. After swift negotiations, Major Allcock agreed that the society would establish an office and educational facility in Weelond. Unable to visit Weelond just yet (although he has plans to do so in the near future), Major Allcock has delegated the responsibility of the new school to Thomas Elliot, a school teacher from Arlinsport. Elliot also dabbles in architecture, so the design of the new school was also left to him. Major Allcock gave some loose direction, the school should ideally be on a medium plot size, and should be a testament to the Corlander dedication to the Sciences and education in general. On arriving in Weelond Elliot found the purchase of a suitable block of land quite difficult, even with a letter of introduction from the Mayor himself. Not surprisingly in a settlement controlled by the very successful merchants of the MCTC, land prices were highly competitive to say the least! In the end Elliot settled for a small, narrow block and secured its lease at a very competitive rate (it was thought too small to be of any real value!). He then proceed to design a three story facility. To highlight this was a Corlander establishment, the only natural colour to build in was of course red - with black and white trim. Unfortunately white stone was in quite high demand, and white washing didn't convey the grandeur Elliot wished to convey, so the white was replaced with light grey. The school as seen from the street with an Eslandolan Soldier patrolling the streets, and from the rear where a small chilli bush has been cultivated - Elliot has developed quite a taste for spicy foods and grows his own supply! The ground floor is used for classes. Mondays and Tuesdays Elliot teaches the children of wealthy merchants and the moneyed class. The essentials of reading, writing and arithmetic are covered (He finds this class most attentive to the mathematical sessions!) as well as a smattering of Natural Philosophy. Wednesdays and Thursdays are a more mature age, with locals interested in Natural Philosophy learning the basics of that science. Fridays and Saturdays Elliot has off, or devotes to his own studies, and Sundays he holds free classes for the poorer children of the settlement who are required to work throughout the week. The middle floor is a devoted living area which is also regularly co-opted for scientific studies. The upper floor is Elliot's Bed chamber and where his white cat Molly can often be found. The whole place is furnished in a rather Spartan style, some may remark it needs a women's touch? Who knows, maybe School master Elliot will find love with a local Eslandolan women? ----------------------------- Something a little different from my usual style, my first attempt at a fully modular house. Heavily based on the design in the excellent MOC found here, I really liked the turret on the front of the building but modified the rear of the building, windows, roof and most obviously the colours! I wanted to use bright 'classic' colours - hopefully the red is not too bright and fits in to the generally more colourful Eslandolan style! I was a bit worried the design maybe a bit modern, but I think it works. The build will be licensed as a small educational property in the settlement of Weelond. Enjoy and as always C&C welcome! Oh and here is an extra view of all the components together!

Our story begins with an Eslandolan crew taking some R&R at the local reputable establishment before setting off on a critical mission for the empire. Maybe it is in vino veritas.

  17. The Battle for the Grand Duchy of Prio the prio sea area by skaforhire, on Flickr duchy of prio by skaforhire, on Flickr Last month, Lord Alexander Prio, one of the King of Mardier’s viceroys in the Far Seas, called for volunteers to help him tame the island of Ilse de Romantica. Those volunteers came from all four of the main factions, and they were rewarded. At the end of the month, Prio declared himself Duke Prio, of the Independent Grand Duchy of Prio of Isla de Romantica. (GDPIR). The Mardier Far Island Fleet operating from King’s Island, about 300 miles to the north has been dispatched to take back the island. Mardier is in a Civil War and is spread thin, so it only has a few ships and men to dedicate to this cause. The Mardier military has contacted the remnants of the natives that Prio had recently crushed, and has now enlisted them to sweep the island and take and hold territory. Prio is determined to keep his Duchy, and he believes that his new friends may be willing to help him fight for what is his. He has a large war chest, so rewards will be given to those who conquer and hold territory. Rules: Turns: Each turn is 7 days, or whenever the last person has made a move, whichever comes first. To win: A side will win when it either a)sues for peace, or b)wipes its enemy(ies) from the island. An Army: An army consists of at least 20 men. For every 20 men, it gains a rank. Every space that an army occupies becomes part of that player’s territory. It stays that player’s territory until another army from another player captures it. Actions: It is very simple, for every 10 men that you have on the island, you get one action each turn. So if you have 20 men on the island you will get 2 actions per turn. Build: Form a small wartime settlement on the island. This raises your “Contribution Rating” by 1. Remember, your team has to win the war in order to pay you though! If you build a MOC representing this, you will get +2 Contribution rating instead of +1. Recruit: You may invite another ship to join you. You can only Recruit once a turn. This ship must be licensed, but does not have to belong to you. You cannot call a faction owned ship. Each ship brings its 10 * class level + 5 men per Crew level. So a 2A would bring 25 men. (Prio and Mardier can recruit twice per turn.) If you invite another builder to the island that is not already playing, they now become a player as well, and may make actions next turn. Recruited vessels start anywhere on shore that is neutral or owned by an ally (or yourself!). You may also invite EGS registered troops (belonging to you, or somebody else) but the maximum amount of troops per invite is 90. Like normal troop movement, a specific registered vessel is not needed to transport them to the island. However, troops must land in an allied zone, not a neutral or enemy zone. Attack: to attack, you declare an attack on a hex that is owned by anybody other than you, as long as you have an army adjacent to that space. An attack is resolved by comparing the two ranks. A tie goes to the defender. The winner holds the hex, the loses retreats and is reduced in rank, or is destroyed. If there is no open space for the loser to retreat to, the army is captured and taken off the board. A unit is reduced one rank when it loses a battle unless the attacke is twice as strong as the defense, in this case, the defending army is reduced to half of its total rank, rounded up. An army may only attack or move once per turn, not both. IE: A rank 6 attacks a rank 5, the rank 5 retreats and is reduced to a rank 4. OR a rank 8 army attacks a rank 4 army, the rank 4 army retreats and is reduced to a rank 2 army. Support: An army that is adjacent to another army can support the that army. An army may support another army’s attack or defense. If an army supports a defensive army (one which has not moved), the full rank of the support army is added to the defending army. If an army supports an offensive move, only half of the support army's rank is added to the moving / attacking army. (This includes supporting an army into an unoccupied hex) If the supporting army is attacked, then its support is broken. Move: you can move an army to any unoccupied hex that is adjacent to your army. Any army can move up to three spaces across water, because they all have a vessel. To capture a water space, they must have ended a turn in that space. On land an army can only move one space at any time. An army may only move or attack once per turn, not both. Divide: Your army can divide into separate armies, but the second army must be adjacent to the first. Each army must have a rank of at least 1 Merge: An army may merge with another army owned by a player on the same team. Special Rules: Attacking from multiple sides (flanking) – when an army is attacked from multiple sides, it fights at a rank lower for each side it is attacked on – 1. (being attacked on three sides would decrease the defender’s rank by 2) Mocing an attack or a defense. If you are conducting an attack, and MOC the attack or a defense, you gain 1 rank for that army. (one moc per army) Submitting Movements: All movements happen at the same time. Each player will secretly submit their movements to Skaforhire. All MOCs must be submitted for that week must be within 24 hours of the deadline in order to get the benefits associated with them. If two armies attempt to occupy a space without one declaring an attack, then the larger army (including any support it may have) will take the space. Ships used in this war cannot be used in the MRCA until you pull out of the war with that ship. Here are the current players : Deployment list ship by ship. If you do not want to play, just either pass or do not post by the deadline ( May 29th by midnight anywhere in the world) Here is the order of deployment, preference goes to ships listed highest. (Based on troops) White skull 25 men (SR) Corland Supplier, 20 men COR The Novitus 20 men Alexander 20 men (COR) Golden Star 20 men (ESL) Peregrine, 10 men (COR) Wight spider 10 men (SR) Small fishin boat 5 men (OL) La Espada 5 men (ESL) HMS isandlwana 5 men (COR) To play just post a description of where you want your army to start, it is best to give three options (better if you just download the map and mark the spots you want to start on in order). Your original deployment hex must be on a coast and not in territory occupied by Mardier or Prio. Remember, if you kept your ship here to fight this war, then it cannot participate in the MRCA this month, or any month until you are eliminated, pull out, or the war is over. If your ship leaves the island, so does your men. If you have less than 10 men, then you will need to recruit before you can attack. You can still defend as a rank 1 army, but you cannot attack or support. If you lose your soldiers / sailors, you DO NOT lose them in any other form in the MRCA / EGS Untitled-3 by skaforhire, on Flickr teststart by skaforhire, on Flickr
  18. The Royal Society of Natural Philosophy is pleased to announce the opening of a Botany House in Mooreton Bay, Alicentia. To advance the study of the flora of the New World, The Society has managed to engage the services of renowned Corlander Botanist, Sir Jonah Banks. Banks has set up his quarters in Botany House, a building in Mooreton bay built specially by the society for the study of Botany. Located roughly in the centre of the settlement, the land adjacent to the building has been set aside for future Botanic Gardens - a planned green oasis in the middle of a bustling town! Here Major Dirk Allcock can be see discussing some recent discoveries with Sir Jonah. Meanwhile the society employs a local boy by the name of Billy for gardening. Licensed as a medium educational property in the name of the Royal Society of Natural Philosophy in Mooreton Bay. Hi Everybody. A long promised build for the Royal Society. Not a particularly interesting build, but I wanted to try something larger scale in dark tan bricks. I hope to have something slightly more exciting up early next week for the Society (but in a different location - Capt Wolf, looking at you!).
  19. Soldiers need somewhere to live too, so a barracks complex has been started in Abigail Park, a reserve close to the centre of the settlement of Mooreton Bay. Constructed of rough convict hewn sandstone, similar to Fort Denison, canny observers will note firing slits in the ground floor of the utilitarian structure. A while ago Major Dirk Allcock was able to arrange for a shipment of the New Pattern muskets that are starting to equip Corlander line regiments back in the old world. The detachment of the Light Company of the 47th Regiment of Foot that he commands will be armed with the new musket as a New World trial. Here, they conduct a demonstration of the new musket. Some Royal Marines, including the newly promoted Captain Stewart , together with some visiting Naval Officers, have come to watch the demonstration, as the new pattern musket has yet to be approved for Marine or Naval use. A quick build mainly to show off the Brick Arms muskets I was able to obtain at Canberra Brick Expo earlier in the month. I'll license the barracks as a residence. Any resemblance in the uniforms on the targets to the uniforms to those of other nations is purely... well intentional... you've got to train how you expect to fight right?!? I'm sure someone will call me a warmonger in outrage but seriously, no malice intended to our bluecoat friends Oh and the cannon design is from Captain Braunsfeld's Eslandolean 8th Army MOC.

  21. Captain Green Hair

    [ESL-3T2] Sloop El Gran Grin

Harr me harties! I mean ahoy maties! I'd like to present you my new ship. I really wanted to do something with my white hull, but at first I thought it was not going to be used. The white and black tops looked so pixelized, I had to do something. So I covered up the black with white tiles. I also got really inspired by Kurigans red walls on the inside of his new brig, but I don't like the use of electrical tape. So I took a look at the brig made by Andersen T. and got the idea of using tiles on the side. This might also be done with the new small 1x2 rounded slopes, but I like the planked look the tiles have now. I haven't put figures on the ship yet, I need to think of a captain and all that but I don't have the DB's to license her at the moment anyway. So I might do that later on, but for now; enjoy the pictures!
  22. Challenge Three – The quest for the Fountain of Youth It has been rumored that on Cato Calrelli’s second voyage in 599 to Nelisa he took along with him a Oleander priest who paid handsomely to join the expedition. On the 15th night of the journey, the priest of Zeus, Father Tholeau, snuck inside the captain’s boat and lowered her to the sea. Once detached from the fleet he set sail in the small skiff. The crew had no idea what had happened to the priest, but Calrelli pushed on to discover more of Eslandola’s new home “beyond the line.” After Calrelli encircled Nelisa, he began to make his way home, but before land was out of sight, a small sail was seen on the horizon. Fearing foreign explorers had found Eslandola’s secret, Calrelli boldly set to engage the vessel. What he found was his captain’s boat, empty except some clothing and a journal. There was no sign of Tholeau. Calrelli read the journal, and discovered that the priest had been obsessed with an ancient manuscript that stated that the Fountain of Youth lay on an island to the East of Halos. The journal detailed Tholeau's recent escapade and his discovery of three islands. On the third of those islands he found what he was looking for – the Fountain of Youth. Knowing he did not have enough supplies to try to follow Tholeau's poorly noted nautical directions, Calrelli decided to restock. Unfortunately, he was caught by hurricane that wrecked him and his fleet on the shores of Terraversa, and since then, he has been unable to get permission for another expedition. The journal was eventually taken to Arlington, and stored in the Cartography Academy. But somehow a copy of it slipped through the Academy's hands and through a series of accidents made its way to an enterprising printer. Now, adventurers from all corners of the Brick Seas are making their way to New Terra to try and follow the cryptic clues left by Tholeau. Category A: Finding the Fountain In this category you will show the discovery of the Fountain of Youth by your sig-fig or one of his/her associates. This can be almost any setting you wish, on the beaches of an island, in the dense jungles, on a desert island, in the ruins of a lost civilization, or maybe within an active civilization’s town! Maximum size 32x32, with minimal overhang. Deadline: July 1st. Extended deadline: July 10th However, those who submit entries by the original deadline will have a bonus applied to the judges' scores. [*]Post your entry in it's own thread, but be sure to provide a link below. Category B: What happened to Tholeau? Build 2 – 5 MOCs that tell the story of Father Tholeau after he left Calrelli’s fleet. You can represent the good priest in any way that you like. The MOCs and accompanying narrative should tell the story of Tholeau leaving the ships, finding the islands (he mentioned three in his journal), making his way to the fountain of youth, and disappearing. You must build between 2 and 5 MOCs. One of your MOCs is subject to a maximum of 12x12. No other size restrictions. You may not use your Category A MOC in your story. Deadline: July 1st. Post your entry in it's own thread, but be sure to provide a link below. Prizes As with the previous challenges, all players participating in the Economic Game System will be awarded with in-game DBs. Winning players will receive more DBs. In addition, Winner of Category A receives the right to style his/herself Discoverer of the Fountain of Youth. Winner of Category A picks an island on the new map (not yet released) for the fountain's location. That island will belong to the winner's faction, and the winner has the right to set up a settlement at that location and appoint his/her own mayor. Winner of Category B receives the right to style his/herself Revealer of Tholeau's Secret. The winning faction will choose three islands off the new map. All the other factions will choose two islands in the order in which they have placed.
  23. The Ténotclaxcans scouts : Thanks to the Doctor Gellibrand, Felipe de la Manzana managed to persuade King Azuma to send him his best jungle scouts. The team is lead by a masked chieftain, helped in his task by 2 priests, here a man and a woman. The team is now equiped by swords from Elysabethtown armory but the natives kept their spears too. The throwing weapons are still the silencious bow and the poisonous dart blower. The Ténotclaxcans found them so effective they did not accept bearing flintlock pistols. I am developping the lore of the Ténotclaxcans by creating some troops. Hope you'll enjoy this build.
  24. A banana plantation has been established just outside the new settlement of Mooreton Bay, Alicentia. Demand for this exotic fruit has risen steeply in recent times, with even Her Majesty herself rumoured to enjoy a good banana now and then! A fast trading vessel can transport the fruit back to the mainland before it spoils and will be almost guaranteed to make a tidy profit. ------------------- Another quick build and most probably my last for the month. Purists will not like the bunches of bananas as I've had to use the same trick as in my Cocoa plantation to make the trees look anything like authentic but I am reasonably certain that there is no way to make a bunch of bananas using just Lego! (more than happy to be proved wrong! ) Licensed as a small plantation in Mooreton Bay, Alicentia.
  25. One of the first businesses to open in any new settlement will usually be a public house and Mooreton Bay is no different. The Corunna Tavern offers newly arrived settlers modest accommodation while at the same time serving refreshing drinks and humble food. In this scene you can see several citizens of Mooreton Bay enjoying refreshments. In the street two troopers of the newly arrived Queen's Own Hussar Regiment ride past and a soldier escorts some convicts to a work party. A detachment of troopers from the Queen's Own Hussar's has been dispatched to Mooreton Bay to provide extra security and mobility. The Hussars are indeed an impressive sight in a dashing black and red coat with a brilliant scarlet peliesse. ------------------------------------- Hi all! I had good intentions for expanding Mooreton Bay this month but it hasn't seemed to come together! I've cheated a bit here and used the upper level of a building from my recent Ainesford Market MOC build to produce a quick tavern for Mooreton Bay. While making a Bricklink order recently I came across the vampire torsos which I had not seen before. Thinking they'd make a perfect torso for Corrington soldiers I had to give it a go and these Hussars are the result. Hope you enjoy. As always C&C most welcome! Licensed as a medium artesian in Mooreton Bay, Alicentia.
