Neo Nexus Force - battle cruiser 70816 MOD and support fighters

IN REALITY: This ship was originally set 70816, Benny's spaceship (x3), with the Unkiitty seat and radar dish removed in favor of a skylight and laser gun turret instead. The sliding wings were redesigned to be stationary and thus provide space under the turret for commander Bob. The ship also has separate passageways for crew to walk so they don't have to go outside to go to Bob, engineering, or the bridge. Oh yeah, and it's orange now! I was inspired to build this model by this cool ship by Oran Cruzen as seen here. IN FICTION: The Bright Future was designed with help from Benny the 1980-something space guy. This heavily armed ship was designed to replace the lighter Bright Hope, which was heavily damaged in a firefight between two Maelstrom Void-Ships. (The enemy was defeated with help from the allied Nortsa sister ship Shining Star and the Odyssey II space laser, but at great cost.) The glaring problems in the design of the Bright Hope led the design crew to the master space-designer Benny, who in turn took his original SPACESHIP(!) design to the next level with more armor and sleeker wing profile. The wings were then redesigned to reduce hyper-space speed but allow for greater range. Bob was even given an office where the wing extender mechanism was! The rear of the ship has three engines. The rear of the ship has three engines and a rotating, elevating quad-gun turret. This small and nimble fighter was designed after looking at a Classic Space model I found on my hard-drive. (I think it was inspired by a model my brother bought off Brick-Link a couple years back.) Anyway, I then tore the model apart and have added four guns, larger wings, and the larger air intakes from my Nexus tower rocket. The ship features an enlarged cockpit with controls and seating for one figure. The rear of the model features one tail-fin and two engines exhaust ports. It's been a while since I've been posting on here, so I thought I'd show one of my latest builds, the USS OGEL. The images are from it's latest 'patrol' at Brick-a-laide in Adelaide, South Australia. Some information about the real ship:- Based on the United States Navy Alaska Class Battlecruisers The Alaska class consisted of six large cruisers ordered before World War II for the United States Navy. They were officially classed as large cruisers (CB), but others have regarded them as battlecruisers. They were all named after territories or insular areas of the United States, signifying their intermediate status between larger battleships and smaller heavy and lighter cruisers. Of the six planned, two were completed, the third's construction was suspended on 16 April 1947, and the last three were canceled. Alaska and Guam served with the U.S. Navy for the last year of World War II as bombardment ships and fast carrier escorts. They were decommissioned in 1947 after spending only 32 and 29 months in service, respectively. The idea for a large cruiser class originated in the early 1930s when the U.S. Navy sought to counter Deutschland-class "pocket battleships" being launched by Germany. Planning for ships that eventually evolved into the Alaska class began in the late 1930s after the deployment of Germany's Scharnhorst-class battleships and rumors that Japan was constructing a new battlecruiser class. To serve as "cruiser-killers" capable of seeking out and destroying these post-Treaty heavy cruisers, the class was given large guns of a new and expensive design, limited armor protection against 12-inch shells, and machinery capable of speeds of about 31–33 knots (36–38 mph, 58–61 km/h). I did not make this. Eurobricks user named Sunnyx created the original LEGO model, a Star Craft "Battlecruiser" in July 2010. (Here is a picture of that version: http://www.brickshel...y.cgi?i=4569048 ) I downloaded it today and made it into Classic Space colors, along with some changes to the engines, plus the addtion of a Classic Space logo (unprinted here, but this part in real life: http://www.bricklink...sp?P=30363pb021 ) on the front, just above the fighter hanger. (This model is designated to be for my brother, Austin, and his classic space fleet. It may or or may not be built, as it has an quite large 1380 parts!) Background: Designed and built right after the first Blacktron War and before the formation of the Space Police, the "Dreadnought" class was designed to take the punishment of any Blacktron wepaon developed up to 1989 and give back the punishment in triplicate. The Dreadnought class numbered only five strong when 1991 rolled around, bringing the Blacktron (this time the Future Generation, successors to the original Blacktron) back into war with the Space Police and Classic Space. The Blacktron forces received a pounding from the Dreadnoughts, but not before finding a way around the 1989-vintage scanner systems and destroying the original Dreadnought with a concentrated barrage on the hyperdive system. (a weak spot for the Dreadnoughts is the four hyperdrives, located on the above and below the main wings on the left and right sides) The end of the second war and the supposed erasing of the Blacktron scourge meant that over the next 10 years many Classic Space leaders promised to decommission the Dreadnoughts, but they stayed put, slowly becoming more outdated as the years went by. Only after the Neo-Blacktron sightings and Benny the-1980-something space guy coming to head the Classic Space fleet did the task of revitalizing and revamping the Dreadnoughts get finished. As of 2015, the four Dreadnought's remaining are being surpassed by Super Dreadnoughts, the first of five will be coming off the assembly line sometime in the near future, probably within 2 years. The rear of the ship, with it's four main sub-light drives. The ship features a hanger for smaller fighter ships on it's nose, which can hold up to 20 "Galaxy" class deep space fighters, plus their is space in a secondary hanger for 15 exo-suits. The unlucky Blacktron ships caught in the crosshairs of this mega ship would be subject to 70 laser cannons spread through out the ship's superstructure, 10 tractor beam ports that are mostly situated around the bow, and two retractable Ion cannons located on both left and right wings, in between the hyperspace engines.
