    Layout: plan fo new layout

Hi guys, I currently have a small city/train layout. It is currently getting to small for my trains and modulars. (if you are interested you can find it here: http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=554588). This made me think over a redesign of the layout where I have more space for the trains and the modulars, and where I have more "track-space" to move the trains on the layout (with the current design I can move 4 trains independently on the layout). I have now to describe what you can see in the image above: First you see the whole visible track of the layout. You can also see that it consist of three levels: gray baseplates = level 0 green baseplates = level 1 (20cm above level 0) tan baseplates = level 2 (only streets and houses, 20cm above level 1) All blue baseplates are placeholders for modular houses. You can also see, that this layout only works with modified points. The tracks on the red baseplates are the ramp where the train can go from level 0 to level 1. In the picture above you can also find the dimensions of the layout. In the pictures below, you can find the track layout of each single level (for reference the track ramp is shown in all thee pictures): Level 0: Level 1: Level 2: Now my Questions are: What do you think in general of my layout? What would you change/ what didn't you like? Do you think the given ramp is doable with PF-Trains (height difference = 20cm) BR, Guenther
  2. Hello! Here are the photos of my train/city display shown at Paredes de Coura FanWeekend 2019. Hat Village Train Station V2 Album by José Proença, on Flickr Of notice: A different take on track ballast. Example here I'm using a custom catenary non-lego "cable" with a simple tensioning system. Check here Custom lighting system with no electrical cables at sight. Like in here. Tried to simulate tube lights (reduced spotlight effect) with one LED. See with lights on and with lights off Exterior elevator/lift with moving cabin, controlled by a hand rotated tire on the top. See elevator here. Illuminated train signal lights with no cut/drilled parts and two wires only to control lighting. These will be upgraded to a new design soon! Check signal light here. It measures 4x16 baseplates and it is transported in 4x4 stacked units. Sadly, only allows 8-wide trains max (including greblies, bars, etc). Hope you enjoy!
  3. Hi! I'm in the process of revamping my layout. One thing I wanted to change was to make the track bed look as realistic as possible. Namely, I wanted single spaced railroad ties instead of the Lego double spaced tie. Single spaced ties are easy to do on the straight sections but the curves present more of a challenge. I looked around the forum for design ideas and didn't see anything specific so set about to figure out the problem myself. Seeing some of the great layouts on here (Texas LUG, PennLUG) I knew it could be done which makes the battle a little easier. Here is what I came up with.
