  1. Victory is ours! Long and hard was the fight against the Algus. Many different ways were conceived to beat them but none really worked totally well - until today. Until Samuel Marron realized that all the different tactics had to be combined! You need the fire of the Mitgardian Dragon.... ("I love the smell of dragon fire in the morning") ... guided by magic rabbit gloves... ... with the helpful addition of burning Kaliphlinian oil... .. the magic of the Rainbow Spell ... .. and the freshness of the Mitgardian apple barrage... .. to defeat the Algus! And so it came that in the Battle of Green Field the Algus were utterly destroyed. None of them escaped. Under the force of the combined Mitgardian attack the power of the Algus waned, the cold disappeared, their snow melted, their bodies dissolved. So, the weather forecast was bad ... for the Algus. The End. Larger versions on flickr. There is a prequel showing where the Rainbow Spell came from. And there is a sequel showing the victory party. C&C welcome! One addition: As we have to show how the Algus change the weather, here is "WALK LIKE AN ALGUSSIAN": In the "Captain Braunsfeld's part of the Algus Saga" you are here: Part 9 1) The Beacon of Bruns Fall 2) Defending the North 3) Southern Comfort 4) Help from a Nobleman 5) Two Minor Victories 6) Water does not stop them! 7) What's that coming over the hill? 8) Where the Rainbow Spell came from 9) AppleCalypse Now! 10) The Victory Party
  2. This is a prequel to the final battle with the Algus and the MOC explains how the Mitgardians came into possession of the Rainbow Spell. On the basis of good diplomatic connections a messenger from the South brought a surprise... It was a scroll. A magic spell. A spell that would work against creatures of the cold. Called "The Rainbow Spell". Suddenly there was hope! In the "Captain Braunsfeld's part of the Algus Saga" you are here: Part 8 1) The Beacon of Bruns Fall 2) Defending the North 3) Southern Comfort 4) Help from a Nobleman 5) Two Minor Victories 6) Water does not stop them! 7) What's that coming over the hill? 8) Where the Rainbow Spell came from 9) AppleCalypse Now!
  3. The lupo tower in the heart of Jeruna, a small province in Avalonia was built to watch over and protect the small but beautifull population of the Jerutscha wolf. But the Jerutscha wolf population has grown and they are no longer under protection. So the Lupo Tower has lost his initial function. The former guards from the Lupo Tower, stayed at the tower and lived a silent and happy live in harmony with the wolves! But with the rumors about the Algus, some clever Kaliphlin oil traders traveled around and tried to sell their overpriced oil. Also the Lupo tower crew get some oil. They don't know if the Algus really come to their peaceful land, but in case it would be nice to have some oil. Nothing tells from the cold of the north, and two Lupo men start even a BBQ on the middle floor of the tower. In their carelessness they also oversee the brother in his warm coat. What kind of news is he bringing from the north? ___________________________________________________________________________ Right side view Back view Left side view
  4. ... it's a monster... Created and controlled by Algus magic, the multi-eyed snow monster brings terror to Mitgardia! Run for your lives! What can be done to stop the evil Algus??? Some more. C&C Welcome! In the "Captain Braunsfeld's part of the Algus Saga" you are here: Part 7 1) The Beacon of Bruns Fall 2) Defending the North 3) Southern Comfort 4) Help from a Nobleman 5) Two Minor Victories 6) Water does not stop them! 7) What's that coming over the hill? 8) Where the Rainbow Spell came from 9) AppleCalypse Now!
  5. The Battle for Red Brick Castle: The Algus are attacking deep in the South of Mitgardia ... and water does not stop them: Their freezing spells bring ice and snow - and soon they charge! Some defenders are scared... ... but the Mitgardian mage is fighting the ice with fire: And Major Marron is leading his men and heroes into the battle: ... and the fight against the Algus goes on... More pictures can be found on flickr. (Maybe you can spot some rabbit gloves. ) C&C welcome! In the "Captain Braunsfeld's part of the Algus Saga" you are here: Part 6 1) The Beacon of Bruns Fall 2) Defending the North 3) Southern Comfort 4) Help from a Nobleman 5) Two Minor Victories 6) Water does not stop them! 7) What's that coming over the hill? 8) Where the Rainbow Spell came from 9) AppleCalypse Now!
  6. The brave soldiers from Daydelon pour forth from Veggrfell, lead by the indomitable Jarl Snowy. Sir Glorfindel has ordered him to hold the town at all costs, but the Algus forces are unconcerned by the plain MItgardian steel wielded by most of the town guardsmen. A few of the Daydelon men, Snowy included, carry weapons forged in the dragonfire forges of the Nocturnian Resistance, delivered by Gorrian Ratback Dragon. Still the situation is bleak, and night is falling soon. The Mitgardian defenders: And the Algus attackers: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So, my entry for Cat A. I had a right pain with photos, no matter what I did, the lighting sucked. Super grainy pictures result. UK winters aren't the best for photo taking, even going outside didn't help. Anyway, C+C welcome. More photos on my Flickr. Many thanks to SK for the name, and the use of his lands! I owe all the others that replied a build now!

    The Road to Midgardia

(Please note, this is a story focused on two of Aeldric's new rangers, and takes place after Aeldric finds Dar Askelohn and is made captain of the rangers of Albion) Next Chapter: Coming Soon Genic (The Human in the brown hood) and Cathras (The Redhead Elf) had just been recruited by Aeldric and assigned a task to head north to Mitgardia to investigate the potential threat of the Algus. On their way, they passed a small ranger set-up. A small bit of scaffolding was strewn about, most likely for higher positions and better points of view on the roads. Aeldric had issued for several of these camps to be dotted across the roads of Avalonia for the denizen's safety. Aeldric had also begun to recruit many races, other than originally human. From elves, to even dwarves. Though, Aeldric was cautious about which dwarves he recruited, as some of them can be a bit to friendly... Without figs: Back of the scaffolding: --- Anyways, let me know what you think! C & C welcome, and remember, this story takes places after Aeldric has found Dar Askelohn, and is named captain of the rangers of Albion.
  8. The residents of Hardhearth, a once proud and independent Mitgardian village, have taken to their boats in flight! They flee in terror down the riverways south of Nordheim, hoping to outrun the Algus menace that has descended upon them. The escape is haphazard and rushed, with little room on the boats for even those who make it. Some swim after them, hoping desperately to get away. Others grit their teeth and do what they must, to save the lives of friends, neighbours, and comrades stricken by the curse of the Algus. And the scourge? They stand resolute, watching, a haunting reminder of an evil moving ever southward. One of their leaders, the Horned King, personally bears witness to the flight of the Hardhearth folk. His lieutenants and berserkers and cryomancers leer at the humans beneath their forest of icy blades and pikes. Only a lone goodwife, armed with a bow, summons the nerve to look back at them what drove her and hers from their homes. Her hands shake with what she tells herself is merely the unnatural cold, but her gaze does not waver.

The Algus Saga - Two Minor Victories

Boosted by the help of a Nobleman Colonel Upright was able to drive the Algus back in a fierce fight at the pass. Armed with utter cuteness, Duke Fasel himself was able to add a second minor victory against the Algus at the same place one day later! For Mitgardia! ... to be continued... In the "Captain Braunsfeld's part of the Algus Saga" you are here: Part 5 1) The Beacon of Bruns Fall 2) Defending the North 3) Southern Comfort 4) Help from a Nobleman 5) Two Minor Victories 6) Water does not stop them! 7) What's that coming over the hill? 8) Where the Rainbow Spell came from 9) AppleCalypse Now!

The Algus Saga - Help from a Nobleman

In their quest to find ways to fight the Algus, Major Marron and Colonel Upright are allowed to meet Duke Fasel. "Let me do the talking", Upright hissed to Marron. "This is an important audience. This great lord will give us guidance. Don't mess it up." Marron sighed and stayed silent. Upright cleared his throat: "Your highness! Our forces are fighting the terrible Algus. Those icy creatures from the North that have invaded our lands. We are in dire need of support." Duke Fasel looked at them, seemingly gazing at something behind the two men, somewhere in the distance. There was a pause. "This fine leader, this higher being will give us something that will help us crush the Algus", Upright whispered to Major Marron. "Just be quiet. This Duke has higher insights than simple beings like us." Marron sighed and stayed silent. Upright raised his voice again: "Your highness, we, who are not worthy, kindly ask for your help. With all your wisdom, might and courage - grant us help in our battle against the icy deathbringers." Duke Fasel looked at them and then began to speak. Slowly, in a slightly high-pitched voice. "We think that We have something for you that will change your fate in battle." The Duke turned to rummage in a nearby golden chest. "Ah, here they are" "My rabbit gloves. Excellent against the cold. Take them, good man, and win the war for Us. Who was it against, you said?" Marron sighed and stayed silent. In the "Captain Braunsfeld's part of the Algus Saga" you are here: Part 4 1) The Beacon of Bruns Fall 2) Defending the North 3) Southern Comfort 4) Help from a Nobleman 5) Two Minor Victories 6) Water does not stop them! 7) What's that coming over the hill? 8) Where the Rainbow Spell came from 9) AppleCalypse Now!

The Algus Saga - Southern Comfort

Consolation for Mitgardia came from the South - battle-hardened Mounted Ostrich Archers were sent North by the Desert King by mediation of Captain Marron. Marron had been at the victory parade in Kaliphlin and had used the opportunity to connect to the Desert King and his generals. So, after having defended the northern walls, Marron personally welcomed the first MOA battalion that arrived in Mitgardia. Of course, some Northern support was necessary to make the allies successful: Warm clothes... ... and warm, black leathered boots. .. gloves and coats... ... well, the ostriches were sent back to Kaliphlin. And another surprise was waiting for Captain Marron: he was promoted to Major! Major Marron gathered his men and returned to the northern front to face the Algus again. C&C welcome. In the "Captain Braunsfeld's part of the Algus Saga" you are here: Part 3 1) The Beacon of Bruns Fall 2) Defending the North 3) Southern Comfort 4) Help from a Nobleman 5) Two Minor Victories 6) Water does not stop them! 7) What's that coming over the hill? 8) Where the Rainbow Spell came from 9) AppleCalypse Now!
  12. This is my build for Tower Phase 2 in Age of Mitgardia. Battles occured throughout the North, as the Algus continued their relentless push into Mitgardia. A Nordheim watchtower had spotted a group of Algus for the village itself, and what warriors the town had left were quickly gathered to try and hold off the icy foes. The men were led by Anar, a veteran warrior famous for his dragon forged spear. Much to the men's relief, the Algus didn't seem capable of freezing the Mitgardians as they charged into battle: In fact, Anar even managed to slay one of the fearsome beasts: Upon which the other Algus made an organized retreat This gave the warriors new hope, as it seemed that the Algus weren't invincible after all. I tried a new wooden wall design utilizing sideways plates and tiles to give a planking effect. And credit for the roof design goes to Siercon and Coral.

The Algus Saga - Defending the North

How the North was defended: Captain Marron and his men had rushed to a newly built part of the "Northern Wall" that was supposed to protect Mitgardia from the Algus. The vicious Algus attacked the walls relentlessly. Luckily it was already obvious that they did not like the combination of oil and fire very much: It would push them back - but it still would not suffice to ultimately defeat them... (end of this part of the story) Shot from the backside. Here you can see that Steen Larsson was also there to help... More (and larger pictures) to find in the corresponding flickr album. C&C welcome (and: yes, it is a pun on "how the west was won") In the "Captain Braunsfeld's part of the Algus Saga" you are here: Part 2 1) The Beacon of Bruns Fall 2) Defending the North 3) Southern Comfort 4) Help from a Nobleman 5) Two Minor Victories 6) Water does not stop them! 7) What's that coming over the hill? 8) Where the Rainbow Spell came from 9) AppleCalypse Now!
  14. Not far from Thorshaven in Harald's Fjord, shortly after the beacons had been lid: Ulf, a veteran of the war against the elementals, had enough of it. Hadn't he lost everything in the last war already? Hadn't he given everything he could to take his family to this safe haven in order to start again? Ulf was tired of fighting, tired of moving, tired of giving up everything he loved so dearly. And so, he had drenched his house in tar and was now ready to put everything to the torch - no, these beast were not going to take his home from him! He'd much rather see all of it burn down infront of them than see them turning everything to ice. Sure, he didn't mind the Algus turning the ashes to ice, and if need be, his ashes as well. He didn't care anymore! Ulf's friend Harald, however, wanted his friend to live, wanted to rebuild everything next spring, if there ever was going to be another one. So he waited for Ulf to finally get moving and so he too saw the Algus approach freezing everything as they moved along: As soon as the Algus touched anything, it instantly froze and whereever they walked everything turned white and cold. Harald was so stunned to see these creatures that he forgot to push off the boat and take care of himself and so got to witness something amazing: As soon as Ulf's house erupted in a ball of flames the Algus stopped moving as if they were shocked. Ulf, actually expecting to freeze up every second, also noticed that with the torch in his hand noting happened to him. One Algus tried to freeze him from below his feed, but nothing happened! Ulf was surprised and slowly noticed that the Algus were avoiding his torches. Suddenly, he heard their leader scream an aweful cascade of sounds of an unintelligible language! Ulf and Harald didn't trust their senses. Was this it? Was this the answer to the question many wise Mitgardians couldn't answer? Was fire the way fight the Algus? Well, at least it kept them at bay for as long as the fire was burning and only the gods knew what would happen after this! Additional shots:
  15. High in the mountains of Southern Mitgardia, master smiths have secretly used the raging fire of dragons to fuel their craft. The Great Red, Taevoth Longtail, fled Nocturnus generations ago during a purge on his kind. Now he helps create swords because it beats being spitted and eaten by werewolves or worse. The smiths of the Dragon Forge are a mix of human and dwarf, often training as a pair: master and student, only to pass on their secrets to the next generation when the time comes. Few know the hidden location of the Dragon Forge, and fewer still carry the incredible weapons that are made here. Only the finest hammered iron blades can be treated with the coals heated by dragon-flame. Through the heating process, the dragon-flame is bound to the metal, where it imbues a magical sheen that never dulls. A finished sword, called a Firebrand, is always warm to the touch and crafted with fine inlays and ornate hilts. The blades are made long, after the zweihander style favored by the knights and armsmen of the Crown Lands. In the past, these weapons were specially ordered by only the richest and most famous warriors in Historica. However, the time may be coming when need for the Firebrands, as more than status symbols and tokens of martial mastery, is great.
  16. The whole world looked white, like a sign of things to come. As cold steel rose up to meet colder ice, he remembered his footsteps stretching behind him. The green punctured the white, like a sign of things to come.
  17. Ever since their attack on the Wolf Clan, the Algus had been ravaging the northern reaches of Mitgardia. Their cruelty knew no boundaries. Whole villages were massacred, families were found unexplainably frozen in solid blocks of ice, and nowhere seemed to be safe.
