  1. I remade my magic school bus model into a school bus from an older time period (the 1940's) and I think I like this version better. There are some anachronisms (such as the swinging stop sign arm) that didn't exist on school buses in the '40s, but I am using Modular Building / Winter Village logic here: old fashioned vehicles and buildings, with some modern features strewn about when needed. Like many of my vehicle models the roof does not come off to get at the inside details, but then again, there aren't much in the way of details in there anyway. (Yes, the stop sign is printed wonky. There is nothing I can do about it.) Thoughts?
  2. Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, come one, come all, to the biggest attraction in the Winter Festival: the Winter Wheel! Featuring festive details such as gift-shaped gondolas, spokes decorated to look like a giant glowing snowflake, and a wreath with twinkling lights going all around the wheel, this winter holiday themed Ferris wheel is quite the sight to behold! Get your tickets now to get a "Santa's-eye view" of the festival grounds and enjoy the merriest ride of the festival! Here is a view of it from the back without the light effects. This is where riders enter and exit the gondolas. A closer look at one of the gift-shaped gondolas. Happy holidays and happy new year everyone!
  3. Welcome back to the Winter Village! To celebrate our return there is a festival to enjoy, We need you, Eurobricks members, to populate this festival with attractions, stalls and larger than life characters. With three categories to choose from, everyone has a chance to enter. Category A: Festival Attraction The festival has to have some big draws to attract visitors: Fairground rides, walkthrough attractions, contest grounds, games and more to excite and entertain. This category has to fit on a 32x32 baseplate, and of course match with the winter village theme. Category B: Festival Stall Once everyone has had their fun on the big attractions (or if the line is too long!) they will want to check out something smaller. A festival stall could be selling hot food, warm beverages or any number of lovely gift ideas for visitors to take home for the big day. Of course, a festival also needs sideshows, meet and greets and Photo Ops to make some great memories. This category has to fit on a 16x16 baseplate, it can be just one stall, or a few market booths or even a fenced space for whatever Winter or Holiday activity you want to see. Category C: Entertainer Create a wandering entertainer (or pair) who is in the market to spread fun. A little different to the Meet and Greet, as these guys and gals are doing magic tricks and handing out treats, spreading wonder in the crowd and adding to the atmosphere. So, nope, you can't just enter a lone Santa figure or an Elf (off the shelf!), there has to be some character there. This is the smallest, on a 6x6 base, at least one minfigure (max three: Entertainer, assistant and observer). Theme it to the event but don't let that limit you (Holiday Ninja anyone?). Enjoy visiting our Winter Festival! The full contest rules are below: The Prizes Category A and Category B are competing for 10199 Winter Village Toy Shop (2011) and 10222 Winter Village Post Office (2012). Both kindly donated by a member who wishes to remain anonymous. There will also be tags up for grabs. Entry Rules You can join Eurobricks any time to post an entry. One entry per category per member and no recycling of old creations or MOCs already posted unless you make some significant changes All creations must be new for this contest, recycling elements of past builds is allowed but must not make up a large percentage of the entry. All work must be your own - plagiarizing MOCs will result in immediate disqualification. You may continually modify and update your entries and entry posts right up until the deadline. No competitor brand bricks. However, accessories for Minifigures, custom decals/stickers are welcome Digital entries will be allowed, please stick to the footprint limits, parts in physically existing colours only and the limitations of physics! Post up to 3 pictures in a thread in LEGO Town that must start with the title Winter Festival [Cat - ] with the chosen category. This is to help with collecting entries for voting and any thread missing this may not be included in the voting threads. Other Notes and FAQs By entering, you consent to Eurobricks reposting your entry on Eurobricks' social media channels, crediting you as builder Only Category C has a minifig limit Some entries may get put on the front page or featured on Eurobricks Instagram. This will be to advertise the contest, not to promote any one entrant or MOC There is no upper height limit to a build, though keep in mind a build has to be able to stand without toppling over. If you see any issues with entries, please contact the Staff Team. Not the builder themselves, of course, a friendly reminder to fix a thread title is fine.
  4. This building is inspired by set 10263 (Winter Village Fire Station), while the fire truck was inspired by CARS 2 set 9484 (Red's Water Rescue) and Gift With Purchase set 40586. (Moving Truck) As you can see, the building has been heavily modified, with it having removable floors and an bright red color scheme along with a rear half added on. Compared to other modular buildings, the tower roof is just about the same height as the shorter building in the modular Detective Office set. The rear of the building has a couple windows. The lower floor is accessible through the front garage door or by removing the second floor. Speaking of the garage, it fits the vintage fire truck quite nicely. The upper floor roof is removable, to access the enclosed bunk-room and get at the kitchen. Four figures can sleep in the bunk beds. I even have a bathroom in there! Since 2012, when the Cars 2 set 9484 (Red's Water Rescue) was released, I've been trying to build a better front half for that set. Then I saw a MOC over on Rebrickable turning set 40586 (Moving Truck GWP) into a fire truck, as seen here. It hit me I could combine my 6-wide cabin version of the moving truck with the Cars fire truck. What you see above is the result. (I changed the nose quite a bit from the original truck, as something about it just felt off) The truck features four hoses, a roof-mounted ladder and water pump controls. If it weren't for the fireman hats being in the way, you could potentially seat two figures in the cab. As it is, it will seat one and a Dalmatian. (Also, both of the doors open.) As for firemen, I have four of these 1980's guys, with one having a gold helmet for us as a Captain. (picture from Bricklink) Thoughts? NOTE: The original version of the model is shown in spoiler: Finished 2/6/24!
  5. Compared to the San Francisco cable car in set 10308 - Holiday Main Street, my model of a classic Birney Safety Car (link to wikipedia article on the type of streetcar) has a different, more accurate roof, complete with a trolley pole at each end. The word "Hogsmeade" is on the destination boards at either end, as I'm pretending that's the name of a street in my town. (I have a ton of those printed 1x4 tiles from nearly 20 years back and I couldn't think of another use for them.) All the changes to the car body mean most of the interior was scrapped as it was too cramped for figures to sit, with only the motorman controls remaining. (Note to the Moderator's: I know I have older, second thread for this model type. However, that one is structured in a way for the LDD file to be given away, whereas this one is just for the real model only. Please DON'T combine them, as it will only be confusing. Thank you for understanding!) Thoughts?

    [MOD/MOC] Winter Village

Hello everyone, Hope that all is well at this time of year as it can get quite cold. Anyway, let us cut to the chase. Back in October I obtained my favourite Lego train set of all time - Cargo Train Deluxe. Along with the Hogsmeade Village Visit set that I obtained in August, I thought that there is a good potential for a winter village. I got around to building in early November and now I am finally ready to share the result with ye which, I suppose could be labeled as a MOC/MOD - Winter Village: As you can see, I used multiple sets, along with some builds of my own (the lake/pond build would be a good example). I also created a little story for it - in 1952, Christmas is nearing as a local countryside village is getting ready for it. Rumours have spread that a Yeti might be living somewhere in this area, which worries locals even more. Around this time of the month, the local aristocrat comes for a visit in the town to have a good time. Bakery's owner is pleased with her business as the local children always visit for some sweets. Tavern's owner is third in row from his family to own it, they all are famous for their ginger moustache. Another local is popular due to being only one who owns a car in the village, he works in the city and heads to it early every day. Bearded Seller is building a new house in the village, therefore he is seen around more than before. A boy has just recently arrived back home after a long hospital visit in the city. There has also been a warning about a prisoner escaping from the city's prison and it's possible that he might be hiding in the village. Life is full of excitement in this winter village. Right, after that longer segment, it's time for some more pictures! A little train stop where grandma and local drunk are waiting for their train. Local man with the car heads to work in this cold weather. Aristocrat praises himself in front of the sweet shop as always. A couple is fishing for some fish. I was lucky to have collected those 1x2 trans tiles, they really helped me in this case. I modified the Three Broomsticks building to suit my purpose better - added a little more snow on the roof, especially this roof segment, it really needed such improvement. This wagon was inspired by the one that appeared in the Winter Village Bakery, I really liked the way it looked (I must confess, the Beared Seller is also inspired by the wagon's driver of the set. In the back he has two planks, hammer and skis. At last, photography of all the characters in one place. This build wasn't meant to be exactly a Christmas themed one but more winter themed instead, regardless, happy Advent to everyone, only 20 days left till Christmas! Jack Sassy

    [MOC] Santa minifig mosaic

Merry Xmas fellow Eurobricks users! Lego Santa minifig mosaic by LEGO_CoNSpiracy, on Flickr I made the mosaic with the aid from Lego Art Remix - but also did a lot of editing of the original image and quite a bit of changing round tiles and plates in the mosaic to other colours after it was built from the Lego Art Remix instructions.

    [MOC] Winter Village Police Station

Protecting the presents of the Winter Village from Christmas crooks is this Winter Village Police Station! I've included a break area (with donuts of course!), a blue light Christmas Tree, mugshot board, computer desk, and jail cell - complete with a stocking filled with coal for being very naughty! A crank at the back spins the police light on top of the building, and accompanying it are an old-fashioned police car and police box. Winter Village Police Station by inklingbricks, on Flickr More photos are on my Flickr here
  12. As a follow-up to my Honeydukes MOC, I designed Hogsmeade's The Three Broomsticks in the style of the Winter Village series! The technique for the roofs came from the Gingerbread House set since I knew that is an exceptionally sturdy design. Anyone who may be interested in the instructions can find them here and on Rebrickable.

    Winter Chalet UCS Fan Edition

Hello everyone! At the beginning of the year my Chalet entered the third 2019 LEGO Ideas review after reaching 10,000 votes. We also know that the set unfortunately did not pass in the live vote on 23 June 2020. Regardless of the result that I would have obtained, I wanted to somehow thank all the people who wrote to me and all those who liked the Chalet. So I decided to create a Christmas landscape that "welcomes" the Chalet in a dignified way, that was a more "UCS" style model! The Winter Village theme is definitely not new to me (!) But for the first time in a moc I ventured into an entire moving scenario. There are 17 moving parts powered by a single LEGO XL motor or directly by hand with a lever on the back! The two bases transmit movement to each other through an axle technic that connects the two areas. Being raised I also carried out a project (in the pipeline for some time) that is to make the cellar of the Chalet accessible from the right front door. In the side part of the diorama I have also obtained a small cave of ice crystals that can be illuminated thanks to an adjacent compartment where I have also stored a small battery pack with a string of LED lights. The lights flow in the cave but also in the cellar of the chalet and I can also make them reach the interior rooms of the chalet to illuminate them at night. You can see all the moving parts by yourself in the small video I made (I apologize for the poor quality): The most complex part was not only to be able to "reach" the movement in the various areas of the diorama, but also to differentiate the speeds according to what had to be moved. It was a great challenge, but as always I had a lot of fun making it and the important thing is this! Merry Christmas! I dedicate this work to my dear friend Gianluca who is no longer with us. I hope you can admire it from up there. Flickr Gallery here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/sdrnet/albums/72157638607227773 Comments are welcome Sandro
  14. Lego WV Funicular 01 by Loslyn Loslyn, on Flickr Lego WV Funicular 02 by Loslyn Loslyn, on Flickr Lego WV Funicular 03 by Loslyn Loslyn, on Flickr Lego WV Funicular 04 by Loslyn Loslyn, on Flickr Seasons Greetings! Here is my Wintry Funicular Railway. I have re-purposed the Winter Village Train Station as an upper and lower station. The winch and winch housing 'level' of my modular mountain is built mainly from the Friends ski lift. I would most welcome advice on how to improve the funicular carriage, which uses some of the school bus pieces. I have not built a vehicle before, and found the different level axles very challenging, it works ok but is not robust or elegant! Lego WV Funicular 05 by Loslyn Loslyn, on Flickr I am pleased with the open platform in the lower station. The east face of my mountain is a WIP and will include ski runs. Obviously the mountain is vertically challenged! I have rebricked the fire station to make it shorter, and converted Santa's Workshop into a train station.

    [MOC] Honeydukes (Winter Village)

I'm a big fan of the Winter Village series, so I decided to try creating Hogsmeade's famous sweet shop, Honeydukes, in the same style! Let me know what you think! Anyone who may be interested in the instructions can find them here and on Rebrickable. In addition to high quality PDF instructions, you will also receive three PNG files for the Honeydukes Logo and Font, which can be used to create your own custom stickers or custom printed tiles (from sites such as Bricksanity).
  16. Hello dear Lego fans, After having signed up here in the Eurobricks forums in 2011, I posted a new thread in the "Hello my name is..." section about my plans to create my own Lego City layout. Now almost 9 years later, I can finally show you some of the progress that has been made just at the beginning of the new decade :) Good things come to those who wait. Renovations on the attic are finally complete (apart from the lighting) and we now have around 110 m² to unleash our imagination. The current plans of the Lego city layout add up to around 60m² in size and they are, as you can see in the video, far from finished. However, I thought you might be interested in some of the things that my girlfriend and me were designing in the last couple of days. The name of the city is still unknown, but the overall design has started to take shape with a downtown area, which includes all the modulars, and shops, a residential area, an amusement park, a winter village, a train yard and a harbor/beach area. I would also like to add an airport to the city and some of the classic monorail tracks have been placed already. We are also getting into MOC a little bit and we will add our own creations to the layout as soon as they look nice! The commentary of the video is in German, but I am trying to add English subtitles into the system. Please let us know what you think here in the forums or in the comments section of YouTube. I will keep you posted on future updates if you like :) Note: All of the parts used in this layout are original Lego parts, except for some of the baseplates. I thought that lime green in the Hogwarts castle area might look cool, but I will probably exchange it for regular grass green baseplates in the near future. Thank you so much for taking a look! :) Christof
  17. this is a quick christmas/winter winter diorama I built this past weekend to go beneath the Christmas tree. My sister with family is coming over, and my niece's favorite color is bright yellow, so it was obvious what had to be the main color of the house . Total building time: ~12h Built with parts I had on hand. Some are VERY old - can you spot the 4x8 plate with rounded corner and waffle bottom? Someone's having trouble getting in... Also, lights : Merry Christmas, everyone!

    [MOC] The Station of Memories

Hi all, This is my first post so I'll quickly introduce myself : Alex B. Sign, dad x2, judo practiser and AFOL. Thank you for accepting me in your creative community ! I'd like to share with you my MOC I've uploaded on Lego Idea website : The Station of Memories. The Station of Memories is a metaphor of past memories, when the family was gathering for special family events. It is a place out of time, another space-time in which everyone can connect and remember part of his/her life, out of the current everyday life. This is a simple and small family train station located in a pretty countryside little town. Please see samples below (very low quality). You'll find more details and more pics (better quality) about the concept on the Lego Ideas website here I hope you'll enjoy this concept ! If you like it you can support on Lego Ideas Website. Alex B. Sign
  20. Finally finished the build and here is my review on 10267 Gingerbread House: THE GOOD: The Gingerbread House looks great and it surprisingly the right size! (The photo looks a bit over sized but love the end product.) New version of the Gingerbread Minifigure. Surprisingly detailed interior, love every aspects of it. Very great use of the new glittering pieces for the windows. Love the way the star is built on the Christmas tree THE NOT SO GOOD: The roof can be a bit of a hassle to put together. I wish there is an actual gingerbread baby figure. (Still happy with a printed piece but just wanted more) Overall, this is an excellent set and is one of the best winter village sets in recent years. I totally will recommend this to everyone. I absolutely love the look of it. Seriously thinking to buy another one to make a fully enclosed gingerbread house!
  21. Hello guys! This is my first thread on this forum and I'm very excited to share with you our 2019 version of Lego Winter Village! I really hope to hear some thoughts and suggestions :) Not sure if I can add a video here, but it's all on my flickr page, so welcome )) - https://www.flickr.com/photos/155653610@N02/with/45713102655/ Sorry for average picture quality, but this is what I was able to get with my phone and trembling hands :) Next year we're going expand dramatically adding custom train, mountains and lots of sweet details :) But for now this is what we have, and yes, there's no fire house, WV Train and station since we simply decided to pass on them :) Also, I would really appreciate if you could take a second and support my Ideas project (in signature) :)
  22. Please remember - sugar is bad for your health. Sugar kills, so beware of the gingerbread houses. This is also my small tribute to Coen brothers' Fargo, the spooky girl minifigure and Grimm brothers: And I built this as a counterpoint to my Baba Yaga's garden (sisters keep the businesses side by side): More: my flickr
  23. As we are close to Christmas, I wanted to present some photos of my Diorama Winter Village in the full 2018 version, never presented before. This landscape completed in 2016 is the result of 5 years of work. Each building from the smallest to the largest has been built with a continuous search for quality and study in the details of the interior furnishings. The diorama currently consists of 42 bases of 32x32 studs with 300 minifigs and over 62,000 pieces. I was fortunate to have been called to exhibit my complete work at the "Palacio de Gaviria" art museum, Madrid, Spain for a period of 3 months from 10 December 2018 to 24 February 2019. On my Flickr profile you can see some other photos as a whole and in the other Albums you can see the details of each individual building that make up the village. Thank you all for your comments and for the vision of my project! Greetings from Sandro Flickr Gallery: https://www.flickr.com/photos/sdrnet/albums/72157676542427648
  24. Two Christmases ago, I designed my first six custom cars for the Winter Holiday Train, and this year I doubled it in size with six brand new Christmas cars PLUS a rebuild of the locomotive itself to better fit the scale of the expanded train! My initial six cars were: - A Passenger Car - A Christmas Tree Car - A Hot Cocoa Tanker - A Gingerbread Car - A Present Car - A Reindeer Car Now I've added: - A Snow Globe Car with sugar plum fairy, that rotates as the train moves along! - A Christmas Dinner Dining Car with a full spread of food, hanging chandelier, and kitchen! - A Toy Machine Car with working conveyor belt that moves doohickeys from the machine to the packing crate as the train moves along! - A Sleigh Flatbed to transport Santa's sleigh when he's riding aboard his locomotive! - A Christmas Lights Car with reels of Christmas lights ready to decorate any station Santa pulls into! - A Mail Car to transport all of the letters to the North Pole! A full album for the first six cars can be found at: https://www.flickr.com/photos/146006635@N03/albums/72157674354338110 And a full album for the six new cars (including a VIDEO of the full train in motion) can be found at: https://www.flickr.com/photos/146006635@N03/sets/72157703037145161

    [MOC] CHRISTMAS AT BRICK SQUARE

Hi everybody This is my latest creation, a special Christmas edition of my MOC modular building, "Brick Square Post Office". Hope you like it. Twas the night before Christmas... ... and all the kids at Brick Square were getting excited, building snowmen and putting up the Christmas tree. The children had been busy writing their lists for Santa. They handed their letters to the postman, who was loading up his van ready for the last mail run of the day. He set off in to the snowy night with his precious cargo, but by now the snow was falling thickly. Then there was trouble! The post van hit a snow drift much bigger than usual. Stranded in the snow, the quick thinking Postman grabbed his phone and telephoned ahead. Meanwhile back at Brick Square everything was silent and the children were feeling anxious. It was getting late and the Postman should have returned by now. Just then a friendly whistle sounded in the distance and the air was suddenly filled with the sweet smell of steam It was Santa. He had ditched his reindeer and sleigh and instead opted for good old fashioned steam power, courtesy of The Old Workhorse Traction Engine. Don’t forget The Old Workhorse is on LEGO Ideas. https://lego.build/2vRfVGL Please spare a couple of minutes to give it your support if you’d like to see it made as a real LEGO set. Anyway, shameless self-promotion out of the way, lets continue the story ... The Old Workhorse arrived at Brick Square carrying Santa himself and all the presents for the children. And just in case you wondered what happened to the Postman. Don’t worry, he made it back home in time for Christmas Day! THE END! I hope that you've enjoyed reading this and looking at the pictures. I'd like to take this opportunity to wish everyone on Eurobricks a very happy Christmas, and all the best for 2019.
