Hello! I'm new to this forum and I joined because I think this could interest some builders: I recently bought an unopened 3225 set and was able to scan the stickers. I searched the web for a place to share them, but I didn't find any website that lists scanned Lego stickers. As I said, I'm not an expert concerning Lego-themed websites and forums, so I might have missed something obvious. Does anyone know of such a scan collection? Are there places where I could post my scan so that every interested builder can find it? Thank you in advance! Sadly, I seem to be unable to post my scan here... Maybe I don't understand the mechanics of posting on this forum.

Hi So Lone Ranger theme is already gone, for some sadly for some people not. Still, everyone interested has to notice that LR sets were very first Legos set in Widl West since... well... a rather long time... 1997 my loyal imaginary servant tells me, so, there You have it So let's discuss what this theme, both classic 1996-97 Wild West and 2013 Lone Ranger gave us, what great ideas we could find within them and what were/are the possibilities of expansion, of sets, of factions, of major gimmicks could new sets introduce. Well, basically, what would we like to see and play with if TLG was about to release a new Western-based line. So far we have a fort, a mine, indian village, a bit of a city, a covered wagon, LR brought a train ( finally! ) and a stagecoach ( finally! ). So I gues a train station would be a nice addition, well any kind of railway sets. Perhaps a river steam boat. I'd say that should consider splitting indians into TWO factions. It's clear that indiands from classic Wild West sets were somewhat neutral, or simply good guys, apparently there wasn't a single set that would include both Soldiers and Natives! I guess we all know the reason behind this decision. Still, they could get more from Indians by splitting them into traditional GOOD indian faction and... tada!... BAD indian faction, full time bad megablocks, scalphunters. On the other hand, Western doesn't produce as many set opportunities as Pirates and Castle did. It simply can't offer so many types of fortresses, ships, boats etc. Still, deserted "ghost" cities would be a good idea, some hideouts, lumberjacks, trappers, goldminers, caravans with settlers, a donkey/mule would be a great addition to Lego animals, not mentioning a bison of course! ( they did a prototype i've heard! ) Mexicans in their somberos and corrupted army could a nice addition. Perhaps the whole team could expand even farther, to mix a bit of colonial xix century feeling into it - Adventurers kind of thing, only set a little bit earlier, and without cars. I came across this cute Lego project I wanted to share with you. I have the impression western themes in general are not so popular? This project is a bit more than just another western topic. What do you think of western themes? Are they in or out? As to my last thread concerning Goblin Fortress in Lego Ideas I agree with Kodan Black, Lord Dan and the_Cook. What are your comments on Lego Pueblo? I tried to make a screenshot of one of the pics for you. Flying shawarma. Saloon plane. Kabobs. It's time for… Set Name: Creative Ambush Set #: 70812 Theme: The LEGO Movie Pieces: 473 Minifigures: 4 Year of Release: 2014 Price at Release: USD 40 Browse the pictures? Flickr set INTRODUCTION Once again, thanks to LEGO for sending me these sets to review. What's with the name of this set? It really sounds rather plain and could mean absolutely anything. Who is even getting ambushed? The robot? I guess. However, I will not judge a set by its crappy ambiguous name. I was quite excited about this set: it looked funky and cool. Will it look funky and cool in real life? Let's find out! BOX It's still looking funky and cool on the box, which is very square and not all that big. It's the same dimensions as the MetalBeard Duel box, only deeper, which may or may not mean nothing to you right now. Overall: funky. And cool. The back gives you a better, or perhaps worse, view of the plane. Actually in the picture, the plane still looks pretty cohesive, even though you can see more of it. LEGO ran out of play features it seems, since one of the inserts is just Bob standing on his flying cart. CONTENTS Inside we find a few numbered bags, two instruction manuals, and a sticker sheet. Looks like some nice white parts, and plenty of brown. Definitely a lot better than grey! The instruction manuals of course have the same funky and cool picture as the front of the box. These are some neat stickers, especially the Kabob Cart menu ones. Even if you don't like to apply stickers to sets, you might want to keep these around for a MOC of your own. The instructions use the drab blue and orange color scheme I already whined about in my Lair review. MINIFIGURES Yay, the goodies! They're spread out over the build, as LEGO likes to do now, but here they all are for you: From left to right: Kabob Bob, Executive Ellen, Rootbeer Belle, and Sudds Backwash. Out of these, most parts are new and looking good. I thought Ellen's head was the one from Alien Conquest, but it's actually slightly different, so props to LEGO for that! Also great are the three re-colored hair/hat pieces, all new in these colors. Only Sudds' torso is overly simple, a syndrome that afflicts a bunch of figures across this line. It does look pretty retro. Everybody gets backprinting this time, even Sudds with very simply back printing. All are lovely. Ellen has a reverse scared face which looks identical to the Alien Conquest figure minus a beauty mark. I also give you a better view of Sudds' whole face, which has some light markings to show how serious he is. Somehow I didn't take a picture of all the accessories, but you get a bunch of stuff like dynamite, guns of the old type (hooray no more Lone Ranger guns!), and a knife to shave shawarma. All of that gets attached to the vehicles, which might be why I forgot about it. BUILD Like the Lair, there are plenty of different things to build here, so it doesn't get too boring. It goes robot, cart, plane, which in a way goes from best to worst in this set. But that's to be talked about in the next sections. There are some nice pieces here, like a bunch of the new round plate with hole, the ice cream cone, clippy bits, and plenty of SNOT bricks. All of these robots have plenty of SNOT, and in different colors for whatever reason. Not too many extras of note, but studs are always handy nonetheless. SET - MICRO MANAGER Full disclosure, I thought these black square robot things were extremely bad-looking from the pictures. They just looked dumb. To my surprise, in real life they're actually pretty adorable. This one's got cute little arms and legs that are more pose-able than most. You have to have it yourself for it to win you over. On the back it has a mysterious clip that nothing clips onto. What should clip onto the Micro Manager? YOU Decide! Isn't it so cute? I can imagine it running after me pinching its cute little claws. Of course flick-fires are worthless but let's not shed too many tears about those. SET - KABOB CART Next, the Kabob cart. The instructions have you leave the wheels/thrusters flat, which just looks weird. Overall, I loved the idea behind this, but the result is kind of underwhelming. It's pretty plain. The details are nice, like the little bottles, and the thing that emits heat on the shawarma. Speaking of which, I do love the shawarma - that's ingenious and hilarious. But do you see those gears under the shawarma? They do nothing. I was really hoping for a play feature, but no, they just turn. This angle shows another view of the gears that do nothing. You can also see where to flick the flick-fires! Hooray! This cart would really be so much better if it had a more interesting play function. You can actually position the thrusters more like the box and have it stand up. With them like this, it definitely looks better, but it still feels a bit ho-hum to me when I hold it in my hand. I can't exactly put my finger on why. It may be that there aren't enough guns, so that when I swoosh it around, I don't feel like I can go pew-pew-pew because there's nothing to go pew-pew-pew on the model. SET - SALOON PLANE Finally, we get to the biggest chunk of the set - the plan. This thing looked pretty cool in the boxart, but I've got to say that in real life, it's a bit of a hot mess. Like the cart, it's a terrific idea, but it turns out looks pretty ugly. Brown with dark grey, some gold, dark tan, and little green, light grey, and black gets to be too much. The barrel thursters on the back are cool (thrusters on a bi-plane?), but again the thing overall is a bit unsightly. Perhaps if some of the grey was replaced with one of the other colors, it would look better. It least it is swooshable and makes me want to go pew-pew-pew as I swoosh it around. It really looks best from the front, where you can't see too much of it. LEGO sure knows how to pick the best angle for the boxart! Even though the plane as a whole is kind of ugly, some of the detailing is fantastic. I love the use of the spigot piece in gold as controls. And this piano may be my favorite part of the set! So cute! The plane does have tolerable play features as well. Of course the firing canons are always good, but there are also treasure-chest bombs - just open the chest and dump out some dynamite. Kind of a clunky feature, but not bad. COMPLETE SET and CONCLUSION So there you have it. The poorly titled and disappointing Creative Ambush. This was actually the first set of the wave that I built, and it wasn't a great start, but there are a lot of better sets to be had, thankfully. Still, there are some good elements here. The minifigures are all useful and offer existing parts in new colors, plus good prints all around. The Micro Manager is fun, and some of the little detail builds are superb, like the shawarma and piano. Parts-wise, there's a lot to like I think. Some new pieces like the round tile with hole, and lots of good brown things in the plan, as well as some tan. With 473 it's a great value (at least in the US), and may be worth it if you're into parts. I hope you enjoyed my second LEGO Movie review. I'm curious to hear what other people think of this one, since (as I've explained) it doesn't do much for me when all is said and done. Better things to come!

Hello everyone! I just found out about this group via the Facebook page. When I came over I saw the 5th LDD RCB and that it was a Western town theme. I was immediately interested in knowing what else this group did. I am following now following that thread and looking forward to seeing the final product. I started playing with LEGOs when I was about 5. I have always loved horses so my earliest sets all contained at least one horse. I had used the LDD 4-6 times over the past 8 years, but this site has inspired me to get back into using it. My favorite themes are Western, Medieval (particularly Robin Hood era), and Imperials (particularly modified to the American Revolution.) Last year, I also started building a Christmas village using a combination of the winter village sets and my own creations. I am presently going to college for my Master's and working full time so I stay too busy. However, I do enjoy playing PC games or building LEGOs when I have time. Most of my creations are MODs or small MOCs that are added to existing sets to fill them out. I will work on getting some pictures up of things I have done. I look forward to learning new techniques and getting new ideas from this group.

So what are your favourite and least favourite Western films? I haven't seen many, but so far my favourites are: The Lone Ranger-vastly underrated western. Poorly paced, but the end more than made up for it. Maverick-not as much action as in TLR, but still lots of excitement and the casting was solid. Least favourite: Daniel Boone (1956)-I got about 20 minutes in and I was very disappointed. Very forgettable. -
Hello everyone! I've been visiting this website for quite some time now, as well as many other Lego related sites. I've been a Lego enthusiast, fan, addict & AFOL, off and on for probably 20 years... I've gone through a couple "dark periods", but i'm finally in it for the duration... Don't know if I have a favorite theme, but I seem to always come back to Classic Castle, Classic Pirates and Classic Space, in no particular order. As far as current themes, my favorite is unquestionably Lord of the Rings / Hobbit.... followed by Pirates of the Caribbean. Others that I've really dug are Aquanauts / Hydronauts / Aqua Raiders, Vikings and Western.... I seem to gravitate towards the, what I describe as, the "escapist" themes... I also really like a lot of the MOC's that I've seen here, and at the Classic-Castle, & Classic Pirates web sites. There sure seems to be a lot of talent here, and one of the main reasons I'm joining up here is that I hope to learn a lot about building my own creations... Looking forward to posting! Are you interested in LDD or would like to experiment with it? Are you a fan of the western theme? Are you looking to contribute in another part of the forum? This is for you! Eurobricks' fifth LDD RCB will be Western themed and we are building a Western town's main street. A total of sixteen(16) builders will contribute additions to the build of up to 300 bricks to complete this model; a further 4 builders will be considered as replacements should a builder drop out. What is an RCB? The basic idea is that one builder starts off a model, adds a certain amount of pieces, and passes the file on to the next builder who adds more bricks, and passes it on to the builder after him, and the cycle repeats until all the builders have built. It's a lot of fun seeing the model grow and the different ideas that each builder has. Hi Everyone, I have taken advantage of the long and cold days to build one of my very first MOCs. The recent Lone Ranger theme inspired me to work on a western layout. As I have limited space to build, this MOC is a modular build and can be split into two sections. I have to admit that I wanted to work the cliff on the upper level a bit more, but I know that I will have close to no time to build in the coming months. I wanted also to include as many features as possible in a limited space. I hope this was not too much. Sheriff Ricketts and Deputy Jack have hunted Bill Williamson and his gang of out laws and finally found them in the end of a long pike in a mine called " Gaptooth Breach" The mine has many twists and turns and even a waterfall. There even is a working mine shaft lift. In the end the two lawmen were able to capture and hogtie the outlaw leader, Bill Williamson. See the rest of Gaptooth Breach. Actual set, or just Western parts pack? We're looking at… Set Title: Getaway Glider Set #: 70800 Theme: The LEGO Movie Pieces: 104 Minifigures: 3 Year of Release: 2014 Price at Release: USD 13 Browse the pictures? Flickr set INTRODUCTION This set always looked enticing. Not because the glider was great, but because the western minifigures looked terrific, it comes with a horse, and there are some neat rare parts like the cow horns and chicken in metallic. So is this anything more than a minifigure and parts pack? Let's see! BOX The box is small and boxy, with a nice western background. It's a small set, so what you see is what you get. And what you see looks enticing. On the back it seems that the glider is true to its name; it helped Emmet get away. But for some reason the robots ditched their weapons. The top gives us our character names - it seems the sheriff is trying to fool people about his mechanical identity, while the deputy doesn't care much. INSTRUCTIONS The instruction manual is small and comes folded over to fit in the box, both of which you'd probably expect. Plain color scheme, easy to follow, yada yada. Apparently I didn't take a picture of the sticker sheet, but you'll be able to see the four stickers on the finished model. MINIFIGURES As it often happens in small sets, the minifigures are a real highlight. The two western figures are terrific - the sheriff has an awesome new hat mould with extra-folded sides, and a wonderful new gigantic mustache piece that goes around his neck, like most beards. His torso and legs are also wonderful. The deputy also has terrific western printing without any grey skin showing, so it can easily be used for human minifigures. He features the Lone Ranger-style hat, exclusively in brown. Both robots also feature exclusive faces, which help diversify the evil bots across this line. I found it interesting that LEGO reverted to the old pistol mould (as opposed to the megabloks-ish Lone Ranger one), but it's great, since the old mould is really much better. The deputy has the new robot gun that appears in this line, a nice new addition to the LEGO weapons arsenal. Everybody has some appropriate back printing as well. EXTRA PARTS The extra parts are actually worth noting in this set because you get an extra cow horn (and this is only its second and appearance), and an EXTRA MUSTACHE! That's right, an EXTRA MUSTACHE! I was truly thrilled to see this. SET - HORSE & CACTUS In my opinion, one can never have too many horses. The more people you can mount on rides for a MOC, the better. So it's great to get horses in small sets, as that makes them easier to build up in great number. As usual, this one comes with bricks to "make it nude" and a saddle for the sheriff. The cactus is a cute little build, and green is always a desirable color, so I like it. SET - GLIDER Now for the "meat" of the set: the glider. Honestly, it's kind of cool looking, but I think most AFOLs would agree that the parts are more interesting than their sum. I mean, we're talking about five of the new 1x2 slope in dark brown, two of the new clip with hole for rod pieces in grey, two cattle horns, a dark brown barrel, and a metallic chicken. That's some great stuff for a small set. Even the four stickers are useful for western builders. I can't help feeling that this set was actually made for AFOLs craving some western stuff to help build western MOCs. I'm sure it wasn't actually, but it kind of feels like that with all the great parts that are worked in. Not much to see from the back. Plain and simple backside. COMPLETE SET and CONCLUSION Terrific minifigures and a terrific small parts selection for a low price. Need I say more? If you like western at all, go buy this set! It's that simple.

Hello, First of all, sorry for my bad English. I'm 25 years old, at the moment I live in Spain. I loved lego till I was about 12-13 years old then sold everything that I had for just 50 euro! 1 minute after selling it I already regret it. I started to get interested again just 4 months ago, and already have lots of lego. the theme's that I like the most are the ones that I used to like when I was a child. But the one I love the most by far is lego Western. I've been searching for all the western sets and got them all apart from 2, 6748 and 6799. Some of the sets I got 2 or 3 times, and one 6716 Covered Wagon/Weapons Wagon I got 4 times. I am making an MOC/layout with all I have, plus lots of extra parts. And I would like to share some pics with all the (interested) members. And hope members will give me some advices or share interest in the Western theme. Before us is a part of the small village of N in the Wild West. Cunning Indians decided to take revenge "white" because they defiled their sacred land... Realizing their plans, they surrounded the bison herd, were scared them and drove them right in the centre of the town of N. Bisons ran forward and build up the pace, they were swept away everything in its path. The Indians followed right behind bison hiding behind their backs. Their plan to attack unexpectedly failed, "white" caught off guard. In the town among others, there is a shop where you can buy anything, ranging from knives, axes and firearms to food. To the right of the store, its owner keeps pigs, meat, and other needs. As in any other town, a Saloon, where anyone can have a drink and meet with the girls, "certain conduct", which by the way are now on the second floor of the Saloon and attract clients. In the town of N also has a small post office, where a Telegraph. The train stops at a wooden platform with which the handling of different cargoes and goods. Here you can replenish the water from the water barrels. Shop hold two brothers Irishman, that's rear view close-up, without the second floor, so we can all consider. On the first floor there is a room of the store, have Windows are samples of weapons, inside there are various boxes etc. Here you can buy something fully, there is even socks .. Now we see the situation in the shop on the second floor, there is nothing interesting - two beds in the form of beds and a wardrobe. Further, between the store and Салуном - canopy with pigs (rear view), and then decoration of the inner part of the Saloon: 1 floor wardrobe with drink and bar counter, two tables and chairs on the second floor - an office holder Saloon Mr. Sringer, its not now, but soon we shall see him. On his side is a fireplace, Desk with chair and a bookcase. And here was Mr. Стринжерс. At this time he makes a bargain buys a plot of land, through which will soon pass the railway. Build for a western contest from my Lug. Unfortunately you can only submit three photo's. The soldiers don't like it if someone is helping the indians. That someone will be treated as a traitor, so that's why they're bringing this poor guy to the sheriff. But his friends didn't forget about him...

Lego 79111 Constitution Train Chase The largest of the new Lone Ranger licensed series, this train comes complete with track and a bunch of figures. You'll have to wait till the end to see the figs though. I haven't seen the movie (it's not out yet!) and honestly am not that familiar with the Lone Ranger, so I'm reviewing this primarily as a train set that happens to be tied to a movie, not as a licensed set that happens to be a train. Name: Constitution Train Chase Set Number: 79111 Pieces: 699 Price: $99 Minifigs: 7 Theme: Lone Ranger Year of Release: 2013 Links: Bricklink Peeron Brickset The Box The Box front shows what I assume to be the Lone Ranger theme, with a bright yellow band across the top for high visibility on the store shelves. The train is shown on track with the usual liberties in how things are happening - for example, the horse cannot stand in that pose without falling over. They had to stick the water tower in the back so it didn't obscure the train, which is a bummer since it's a cooler accessory than the exploding rocks. The Figs At the bottom of the front there's a lineup of the figures included, with their names so you know who's who. Lego was really trying to save space to give the train as much room as possible on the front though, so they cut the legs off all the figs! The 1:1 On top of the box, they used the same figure lineup (but with legs this time!) as the 1:1 size indicator. That's sorta surprising to me, since most buyers would know what size a minifig is, but it's hard to judge the size of the train from the photo. Something like the wheels from the locomotive would be a better scale I'd think. The Back On the back of the box we have the usual second photo of the whole set, plus insets of all the play features. You can see that the water tower falls over, the gun spins, the tender has a hiding place, etc. The Contents Inside the box you get: bundles of track, 6 numbered bags, one un-numbered bag, a tiny sticker sheet, and two manuals. Sorry, no cardboard for the manuals so things are a bit curled. The Stickers The small sticker sheet isn't too bad, considering the size of the set. There's a couple stickers for the locomotive and one "scratched panel" that'll go on the jail car. The Manuals Two books - the first builds the locomotive and tender, the second builds the other two cars and the accessories. All the instructions are clear and simple to follow, as long as you actually pay attention to the part box to make sure you do everything you're supposed to on each step. The Wheels The locomotive gets 6 large wheels. They're the same as the Emerald Night (and the Toy Story train). They're packed as two bags, each with two flanged drivers and one blind. Good to see these available again! (well, I guess they are in the Monster Fighter Ghost Train, but who bought that?) The Special Parts There's some nice pieces here. I'm not 100% sure on the colors, but I think the silver bars and rocks are "metallic silver" in Bricklink naming. That's definitely a new color on the ingots, and the silver rocks haven't been seen in years (assuming they are metallic silver). The printed tiles (you get an extra of the stopwatch) are nice and useful, though a real slingshot would be cooler! And the guns... this is a new mold from the old revolver. It's nicer, more detailed, and you get it in both light and dark pearl grey in this set! 3 light and 2 dark, to be precise. The crate is not a new mold, but it is a new color. I think it's medium dark flesh, but I could be wrong. Building the Locomotive, 1 The locomotive starts with a nice sturdy frame. That's good to see, since the Toy Story train was so wobbly. Building the Locomotive, 2 Pretty obvious where this is going... but also obvious that there's not going to be an easy way to motorize it. Building the Locomotive, 3 Details are starting to appear. It also surprises me every time how many colors Lego sneaks into things where they won't be seen. This set included a number of the dark orange 2x2 round plates, and none are visible in the end. Did they have extra dark orange ABS left over or something? Building the Locomotive, 4 More stacking. And some SNOT starting to show... Building the Locomotive, 5 The first stickers go on 2x4 tiles to indicate the RR. I like the detailing in the rods on the sides too - a black wand, a black lightsaber handle, a cone, and another wand. Simple but nice detailing. Building the Locomotive, 6 Finally, the wheels. Sadly, there's no driving rods in the set to make it look more realistic, but it'd be easy enough to add. And I'm not OCD, so my wheels aren't all lined up like in Lego's photos :) Building the Locomotive, 7 The front bogey is nicely designed. And you can't have a western train without a cowcatcher! Building the Locomotive, 8 The base of the locomotive is done. Since the center driving wheels are flangeless and there's nice articulation between the front and main parts, it'll work just fine on Lego track. Building the Locomotive, 9 Now the cab is taking shape and we're finally getting some color! Sorry, no glass in those windows. Have to add that yourself if you want it. Building the Locomotive, 10 The green slopes here are the same as used in the Emerald Night, but without the gold stripes. There's a bunch of snot brackets used to give the boiler its shape. Building the Locomotive, 11 Here's how the front of the loco comes together. There's an extension with snot brackets that lengthens the boiler, and a tile on the top of the bogey so it can slide. Once the rest of the green slopes are added it'll be plenty strong. Building the Locomotive, 12 Nearly finished. The dark green looks great and I like the black stripes in it. Building the Locomotive, 13 The bell and light are both nicely built. The pearl gold clip and fez make for a great small bell to fit the scale of the train. Building the Locomotive, 14 Complete. The hat on the front gives some nice details there, and the overall train is just nicely made. I'm not 100% in love with the smokestack design, but it's ok. The Tender, 1 The tender is pretty simple, but it looks good. The trapdoor is a quick way to get some basic play features for the kids, and some round black plates on top help the appearance. The Tender, 2 And it's done. (actually, it's not. there's a shovel that goes on the front and some wands that go in the back clips that I forgot to put on before the photo - but basically, it's done) The Gun Car, 1 Here's the base - a nice way to get snot right away. And the second car will use the same base, so pay attention :) The Gun Car, 2 I really like the touch of red here. Otherwise, it'd be pretty dull. The Gun Car, 3 Some storage bins are added, as well as the base of the gun. The Gun Car, 4 There is a pretty simple mechanism coming to make the gun spin. First, a crank is built (that tan crankshaft part is pretty rare in this color) with a gear and a towball as a handle. The Gun Car, 5 The gun car is done. You can see the gear mechanism here. The binoculars and barrel make a pretty decent-looking gatling gun. The black pins mean it has enough friction to stay at whatever angle you put it. Likewise, the click turntable underneath means you can position the gun and have it stay. The Jail Car, 1 The base is the same, but the top changes from the gun car. Bunches of 2- and 4-long log bricks combine with some 1x1 cylinders to make most of the walls. The Jail Car, 2 The sides are now done and sliding doors are added on both sides. There's also a nice jail door dividing the car in half. The Jail Car, 3 Nearly done. The Technic beam in the rear pivots to knock out the end wall (not in place yet). I love the simple little lamps at each end of the car though. A great little detail touch. The Jail Car, 4 The end wall. The sticker side goes inwards to form the jail cell in the car. The outside has some dynamite attached - combined with the lever sticking out of the roof at you have the nearly-mandatory-for-Lego-sets knock-out wall. The Train Is Done The full train. It's a nice length for pushing around by hand, although it definitely helps to have it on the track since the front bogey on the logo flops around if you don't. It's sorta goofy - I mean, how many trains have massive gun cars like this? - but it's a great toy. And if you mod the cars into something nicer, it makes a great old steam train. I just think it's fantastic! The jail car would be simple - take out the lever and bar windows, fill in those gaps, and it's a great little boxcar. Take the gun off, and you have a nice little flatbed car. The Water Tower, 1 Time to finish the scene. First comes a water tower. The base has a lever and some of the new 1x2 plate with pinholes, and they're all nicely reinforced with the tan curved bricks. The Water Tower, 2 Almost done. There are a few trans-blue parts inside the tank to be the water, and the whole thing is ready to topple. The Water Tower, 3 And it's done. The dynamite (with a little help from the red lever on the other leg) is ready to crash the water tower across the train tracks! I found in my play that usually the whole tank pops off, but it doesn't come open and spill the 4 trans-blue parts out. That's fine as far as I'm concerned - they'd be a pain to pick up if they flew out. But really Lego, just 4 little 1x1 round bricks to fill the tank with? And I assume that this water tower is for the townsfolk, not for filling the train as it comes through, since the spout is away from the tracks if you have it ready to fall and block them. Makes you wonder though why they'd build a tower so close to the rails... The Exploding Rock, 1 No build photos needed here. It's simple but blows up pretty good. The Exploding Rock, 2 It's a nice play feature except for one thing. You have to hold the front of the rock down when you press the lever or the whole thing flips up. The tan base needs to extend out a little on the lever side for stability! On the other hand, the pair of grey slopes sticking out on the front make great spots to hold it down with a finger or two. The Figs Finally, what you've all been waiting for. Here's the 7 figures. The Lone Ranger gets a pair of guns, but Butch only gets one. And poor Latham - he can hardly stand up with that rifle in hand! Seriously though, these figs are just fantastic. I'm not familiar with who they all are, but who cares? They're just great old-time characters! Four very different hats, wide variety of torso prints, great faces. The Backs All the figs have back printing as well. The Alternate Faces With the hair off, you can see the alternate faces that some have. FYI, Tonto's hair is rubbery, but the rest are hard plastic. Tonto's hair also has a small hole on top for the bird to attach to. The Horse Even I know you can't have the Lone Ranger without Silver. This horse is like the new ones in LotR with moveable rear legs, but it's the first time for that version in white. And yes, the standard brick and plate are included if you want to remove the saddle. The Comparison, 1 Here's the Constitution next to the Emerald Night. You wouldn't expect them to be on the same scale since EN was the same price but without track, such awesome figures (though it does have 3 basic figs), or a Disney license. I have to say, I'm impressed with how well the Con stands up to the bigger brother. I wouldn't think twice about running them on the same layout, especially if you added some driving rods to the wheels. The Comparison, 2 From the front you can see how much larger the EN is in pretty much every way. The boiler is MUCH bigger, but again, I'm impressed that the Constitution doesn't look bad in comparison! The Comparison, 3 For a perhaps more fair comparison, here's the locomotive from the Toy Story train (7957). Granted, the TS train is supposed to look like a toy, but I just was never really impressed by it. It always seemed flimsy to me, and it was annoying to push around by hand since both sets of wheels are articulated on that locomotive. The set didn't include track, so most had to play on the floor with it. The Con is much more sturdy and looks FAR better. The extra $20 in retail price is well worth it, especially since you get more figs AND a loop of track. The Conclusion Wow. I LOVE this set. I'm not really a western guy and don't know the Lone Ranger, but I think Lego hit a solid home run on this set. I think it's a far cooler train than any of the recent sets. Obviously apples to oranges since there hasn't been a steam train since the EN, but still... the one drawback as a train is that there's no simple motorization option. You could put a train motor under the tender, but it'd take modification of the floor to work, and there's not room for a battery box in the tender. A better option might be to make a larger boxcar and use that for power, since you could put the motor underneath and the battery and IR receiver inside. For the kids, it's a great train with lots of play possibility, sturdy enough to play with, and it comes with track to play on. The Ratings Value: 10/10 - Considering the EN was $100 when it was out, and other train sets are more (but also include power functions), this is a solid value. You get 7 great figs, a horse, some scenery, and a great train with track. Design: 10/10 - It still looks good even standing next to the Emerald Night. Enough said. Minifigs: 10/10 - These 7 figs (and the horse if you want to count him) are all great. Not a dud in the group, and a wide variety too. Playability: 9.5/10 - I only took off anything because if I was a kid I'd want it motorized and have a remote. That would have kicked the price way up though, so I totally understand Lego doing it this way. Parts: 9/10 - Train parts, nice dark green curves, a simple but sweet water tower. My only complaint would be a lack of much color, but it's not supposed to be a brightly colored Toy Story train. Overall: 10/10 - A Great Set.

I was asked to contribute to a Western diorama that is in progress of our local LUG. Since this is my first build in the Western setting, I made it pretty simple. In addition to an almost dry tree beneath the main building, I added a smaller hut for more private use (toilet). C&C is welcome.

The year was 1999 when I joined GMLTC to exhibit at the NMRA National Train Show in Minneapolis, Minnesota. To my knowledge this was the first time a Lego layout exhibited with the NMRA National Train Show - and it was a HUGE hit. My contribution to honor the occasion was to build the William Crooks: the first locomotive to operate in Minnesota and two prototypical cars of the Saint Paul and Pacific Railroad. Now remember this model is a tad old... and it hasn't been upgraded through the years. It retains a basic slope boiler and studs on the roofs. However, the custom stickers still hold-up with the best today as they were made on an Alps. The technique to allow the cylinders to clear the pony truck is still quite unusual. And of course there is the pure nostalgia factor ! - Brian Williams

I've recently started photographing a long backlog of MOCs. Here is the finished Wild Wild West train which took Best Train at Brickworld 2012: http://flic.kr/s/aHsjvZkYzK . The prototype can be seen here: http://wanderer.jame.../MAIN_PAGE.html The train is notable as it is built to scale using 1 stud = 1 foot taking advantage of figures with the long Toy Story arms and legs. It also features several excellent applications of structural stickers around the cylinders, domes, and on the coach roofs. - Brian Williams

One of the most enduring stories of the Civil War is the 1862 Andrews Raid... or better known as the Great Locomotive Chase. The namesake at the center of this drama is the locomotive "The General": http://flic.kr/s/aHsjEtRoBg . The paint scheme shown here is not how she appeared in 1862... however it is the one popularized in the mid-20th century and what most people remember. This static display model was a commission. It leverages many techniques from my Wild Wild West locomotive "Inyo" but with a more traditional brick frame. It also sports a set of Zephyr1934's (Ben C's) custom drive rods ( http://www.bricklink...re.asp?p=zephyr ). My only regret is that I ran short of large BBB drivers so had to include standard Lego drivers :-( - Brian Williams
