    Winter Village Station

Here is my latest creation: the Winter Station! As previously announced in the spring of 2014, the station was the last big building I had in mind to achieve. I got there just now because I can finally put the railroad in my diorama in a new row of bases on the front. The station occupies two bases 32x32 and has a considerable size but always in line with the other buildings in my village (visit here: https://www.flickr.c...57638505699563/). I tried to enter details as possible using many small parts and developing very both the architectural interiors. Throughout the building (including its two bases of support) has over 4600 pieces. The architecture is reminiscent of a mix front of some stations real, for example for the clock on top of the roof I was inspired by some Italian stations. The tracks pass close to the dock, which allows travelers to get on and off easily by train. On front side windows with embellishments side obtained with techniques snot and upper ones have the shutters of wood with a central cross that look a bit the north-European style. The clock on top is an addition to not leave the roof too simple. But now we speak of the interior: I worked a lot on the interior looking at part of recreating a station in reality. It helped me in this also my personal experience in the world of railways and railway signaling. In the central part of the ground floor there is an open corridor (without front door) of passage for the public. At the bottom left you can see the control room with the head station while controlling rail traffic with all its equipment. Alongside you can see instead of the ticket office with two doors to the public, monitor for announcements of trains departing and arriving, a tree with Christmas decorations and accessories. At the bottom right is the waiting room. In this room is accessed by a door from the central corridor. The room is composed of a series of wooden benches for waiting minifig and some accessories such as newspapers, lamps, flowers and paintings. The walls and floors look a little stations of 60/70 years with a retrò style. And now comes the most interesting part: the attic. The floor is reached by a staircase from the hallway and opening a trap door on the attic. For some time I wanted to make an attic by inserting a bit 'of everything. The basic idea was to make it look like a storage of goods, or rather a warehouse where it was placed a bit 'of everything and consequently left abandoned over time. No attendant at the station today remembers what is stored there! If you look around carefully you will notice several things extravagant and of course I have not forgotten the reference to some famous films, especially the golden object on the right. The boxes with printed markings are 3 accessories can be purchased on site www.minifigforlife.com Other details The floor gives access to the side doors to two small terraces in which it was done a Christmas tree (left) and a little man with snow (right). The gear technic you see behind the clock serves to adjust the time, of course, will allow us to have just the right time twice a day! In the building there are 10 minifigs and as usual I have included a number of fairly rare pieces as if it were a UCS. The part of the roof is easily removable for a better look at the ceiling; Also the entire first floor is removable in order to better observe the ground floor. Finally, the entire station is removable from the base to be able to put in boxes for transport. Enjoy! Gallery HD images on Flickr: https://www.flickr.c...57650075760667/

    SDRnet Winter Village

This diorama represents a full year of work (of my little free time). Here is his short story: at the end of 2011 I presented on EB my Winter Church who has won the fifth place in the contest "Expand the Winter Village II". The church was located on a small winter diorama consists of 4 baseplates 32x32 with the first two sets of Lego official winter. In December of 2012 I presented instead the Winter Town Hall for the "Expand the Winter Village Contest III" that won the second place! These two buildings were needed for my new project: I decided to completely rebuild the first rudimentary village to build a large diorama winter. After several months of work have come to the end of my first goal. The Winter Village you see is composed of 12 baseplates 32x32 but my final project will provide for the use of 40 bases (10x4 = 2,5 x 1 meter). It will probably take at least another 3 years for this goal but in the meantime I'll keep you updated! At present the village is composed of a central square with a stone fountain, statue and Christmas tree decorated, a church, an outdoor bar, the bakery, the town hall, the toy store, the post office (modified), a souvenir shop, a motorized water mill, a stone bridge, the Lego cottage (modified). All surrounded by snow covered trees and various funny skits with characters more or less famous. I hope to post soon new detail images on flickr. 7. Hi again guys. So, this is my 2nd entry for the CCC, more specifically for the Large Miscellaneous Category. I’ve been wanting to build a medieval village for quite a while and finally I was able to do it. I had a lot of trouble because I ran out of bricks in sooo many spots that I had to improvise a lot. Also, I don’t really like square bases, but, again, I was out of wedge plates so this was the best solution that I could find :/ CC is welcome as always. Enjoy!
  8. It's here! Or, rather, over there, at LEGO® IDEAS. Thanks for checking this train project out. If you like it, I'd appreciate your support vote at the IDEAS project page. If you don't like it, or might like it, let me know in the comments what you would have modified or added. with gratitude, James https://ideas.lego.com/projects/85295 Custom Winter Village™ LEGO® train project, arriving soon on track LEGO IDEAS™. Can you smell the coal, oil, steam, and pine? Can you feel the crisp chill in the air against the warm aroma of spiced cider and nutmeg atop a mug of nog? This project awaits approval, after which your support would be greatly appreciated to enable potential production and begin revenue service. Check back in about one week for additional "Winter Village Express" train project details and get your ticket to travel back in time on a winter holiday as this project goes "live" on LEGO IDEAS. "Tickets, please." ;-) Thanks for checking it out. sincerely, James Mathis
  9. Hello everyone! As promised to many of you who have followed me over the last few months there are some pictures of my full Winter Village version 2014. The village consists of 24 baseplates, various buildings, over 28.500 pieces and over 120 minifigs. A lot of hard work but that led me in the recent exhibition of Lecco (19-20 July in Italy) a great satisfaction. Thanks for watching and for your comments! The complete gallery and other HD images:

    [LDD MOC] Brikwarpg World Map

This is just a project I've been working on for my weekly brikwars game. It's a micro-scale world map of the setting! Currently it includes the spaceport, the village, and a big ole mountain. I really enjoy working in micro-scale, but rarely find a reason to, so this has been a lot of fun. (Edit: Could a mod add 'WIP' to the title of this thread?)

    Suggestion needed!

Hi all, hope I'm writing in the right section! I'm trying to build somekind of a modular village/harbor to be used with prefab hull ships for play/display/comics. I know there are some beautiful land based MOCs in this forum, but they're really different from what I'm trying, because they're huge, complex and too detailed. I would like to mix old school/few pieces design with some new building technique... like old official LEGO sets, but slightly less "naif", like a lot of mini-sets designed for AFOLs instead of kids, to be connected to make different villages. To make an example: a house could not have more than three walls (enough in the lego world!), stereotyped rooms ecc.. or a shop may have the classic red/blue slope tent What I would like is suggestions about the "kits" I need. Dock sections? a simple tavern? a fish shop? a little guard's station and.. what else? Thanks for reading!

  16. I know what you're thinking: this is simply a renamed Winter Village Post Office. Well, you'd be half right. It IS a post office mod, but only because I was struggling to come up with a use for this building, as I already have a Post office for my town. I finally came up with this: a old fashioned newspaper store. (NOTE: There are supposed to be printed 1x1 tiles saying "LEGO NEWS" on the 2x4 bracket seen in the main picture.) Welcome to LEGO NEWS. We stock many newspapers and magazines from all over the LEGO realm. We have the City Financial news, (crucial to any businessman) the Old Times, (for any nostalgic mini-fig), the Night Out, (catering to the denizens of the Monster Realm) and even the original LEGO News. (for just about anybody!) We also stock the Daily Prophet & the Quibbler (for any witch or wizard of any age), the Daily Bugle, (for your superhero fix) Yoda Chronicles (for your galactic news) and of course we have comics for the kiddies. Here we see the rear of the store, where newspapers are sorted and tied up for their deliveries to subscribers houses. We also see the car and camera of the lead reporter: she's the one who covered the Alien Conquest fiasco in 2011. Close up of the newspapers. Here we can see Night Out, City Financial News, LEGO News, & Old Times. LDD file: http://www.mocpages.com/user_images/80135/1396734007m.lxf Thoughts, questions, & complaints are always welcome!

  18. This is my Winter Village entry for the annual competition. This small set shows the nativity play located in (LEGO) Bethlehem. The Child was born under the star in the holy (brick)night...:) http://flic.kr/s/aHsjPUrPVx Happy New Year for you all!
  19. Hello to everyone! This is my entry for the Winter Village Contest 2013. I imagined that the Christmas Market is in a park in the village and so I decided to create a tree with a small wooden house where the kids can play on the tree climbing, pulling snowballs, playing with rope swing. The vignette is complete with a traditional fountain carved into the wood of a tree, a small Christmas tree, a lamp post and Christmas lights. What better day to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! Thanks to all for comments

    Winter Village: Yeti Mountain

Like a lot of CMF figures, I get inspired simply by the figures themselves - the ideas seem to just pop in your head when you see the figures, and this was no different. So I wanted to build a mountain for the mountain climber and Yeti; at the same time, I wanted to make a brick based tunnel for my winter village trains. So, without further ado, I present my entry for the contest; "Yeti Mountain." DSCF2023 by FredJH, on Flickr DSCF2028 by FredJH, on Flickr If I have the time, I will post the mountain in the village itself, with trains going through, but the problem is I needed to modify it (two studs wider in order to fit trains better), making it 18x16, so I do not want judging to be based on the modified version, but the version I am showing here (16x16).

    Nordheim Village

Legonardo inspired the roofs of the houses and Eklund inspired the roof on the well. I researched vikings a bit for this build and tried to make the houses historically accurate. There is only one room in each house and the deep benches serve both as seats and beds. Each house has a fire and a hole in the roof to let the smoke out. The children in the build are doing some of things most common for viking children: the boys haul water, learn carpentry, and practice fighting, while the girls help cook and weave wool. The village of Nordheim lies in the Clan Lands of Mitgardia: There are more pictures here: link All comments/criticism appreciated Also I'd like to receive UoP credits for: wall techniques (wooden walls) [architecture], village life [anthropology] = 2 credits

    My 2013 Winter Village

Each year the Winter Village expands, and I've decided to take some shots of it this year. So here you are: You may remember my entry in the 2012 Winter Village contest, which is still together and one of the centerpieces in my layout. A little flocking gives the illusion of a snow-covered ground. The whole shebang. Apologies for the substandard photography. I was going to hold off on the Winter Village Market set, but the VIP deal with triple points and the free truck broke me on that one last week. The skating rink is now direcly in front of the bakery. This is a holdover from the modular winter village layour I put together last year, but quickly decided that I had outgrown it. A Buffer stop in front of the post office. A simple little design that took me 5 minutes to conjure up. And as a bonus, you can see videos of the train in action on .Happy Holidays!
