  1. I wanted to order a couple of minifigure hats from a seller in Germany to be sent to the UK. The seller told me the cheapest postage was over €10 by courier. When I suggested that they could go by Deutsche Post for only €1.70 or €3.70 depending on the packet’s thickness, I was told that those rates don’t exist to the UK, only the EU. Is that true? The reciprocal, sending a large letter from the UK to Germany by Royal Mail for a few £s, is possible, so I’m surprised that Germany-to-UK isn’t. Please note that this is emphatically NOT a political thread about Brexit. Please don’t go there.

    UK Deals

Hi everybody, I'm creating this thread to inform fellow UK members of present Lego deals in stores. Please feel free to add your own if it equates to 35% or more off, or is a special type of deal. 20% is common and so frequent that it would bog down the thread. I'll start... Argos has had a 2 for £15 deal on toys for some time, but now you can get these 3 lego sets in the deal: https://www.argos.co.uk/search/lego-2-for-1/category:15052090/brands:lego/ 75885: Speed Champions Ford Fiesta MSport WRC - normally £12.99 RRP on it's own. 31073: Creator Mythical Creatures Dragon - normally £12.99 RRP. 10900: Duplo Police Toy Bike - normally £10 (£9.99 RRP). So today I ordered 75885 & 31073 for £15 to collect in store. £7.50 each is not bad at all. The only thing with Argos is that your local store may not have all of the desired items but it shouldn't be a problem with these sets until the deal really catches on. Also... Store: The Entertainer (https://www.thetoyshop.com/) (note: deal not on website). 40268: Star Wars R3-M2 - £2 (normally £5 RRP). Seen in at least 2 different store locations. 5004394: The Lego Ninjago Movie Maker (with Jay(?) minifig) - £2.50 (Couldn't see RRP on this so posting because it was also clearance in more than 1 store).
  3. UPDATE: Sorry, the parts have been claimed. I have 6 LEGO fleshy heads and 4 LEGO fleshy hands for which, as a yellowist, I have no use (see picture below). All the parts are brand new. I'm giving them away. If you have a UK postal address and would like them, please PM me. What do I want in return? Any new LEGO except: more fleshy parts damaged/scratched parts (yes, new parts can be damaged) dirty, mouldy or smelly parts, e.g. from smoking/vaping non-LEGO parts I'll leave it to you to decide what those parts are. Just want to send me a single 1 x 1 plate? That's fine! I have no expectations There will be no need to send me anything until you have received the heads and hands below.

  5. I am selling the Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck minifigures in their farmers' outfits parted from set 10775. The minifigures are brand new and have never been assembled. The image below is just a stock image. The minifigures have been kept out of sunlight in a clean, pet-free, smoke-free home. Minifigure accessories (pitchfork, fruit, vegetables etc) NOT included. £10 for both plus Royal Mail postage at cost. UK only. Interested? Please PM me. Update: SOLD
  6. There’s a red wizard hat up for auction on Ebay in the UK. It’s not in perfect condition but given how rare they are - they were never included in any sets and were probably test pieces for LEGO’s moulds - it may still be of interest.
  7. I ordered the Medieval Blacksmith set from Lego.com in the UK and when the parcel from DPD arrived only the GWP's and another small set that I had ordered were in it. The weight of the box was meant to be 3.2 kg according to DPD and it was only 1.2 kg when I weighed it myself, so I assume it's been stolen somewhere along the way. There were only a couple of plastic straps as packaging and no invoice in the box either. It's really frustrating trying to get through to Lego right now as the online chat isn't working and I only have a mobile so I can't get through via phone. Really disappointed right now. Has anything like this ever happened to anyone else?

Challenger II British Main Battle Tank

Hey folks, I'd like to present one of my older but still awesome MOCs: Challenger II MBT Challenger II British MBT by Joshua, on Flickr Overhead view: Challenger II British MBT by Joshua, on Flickr Rear view: Challenger II British MBT by Joshua, on Flickr ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The FV4034 Challenger 2 is a British main battle tank (MBT) in service with the armies of the United Kingdom and Oman. It was designed and built by the British company Vickers Defence Systems (now known as BAE Systems Land & Armaments). Vickers Defence Systems began to develop a successor to Challenger 1 as a private venture in 1986. A £90 million deal for a demonstrator vehicle was finalised in January 1989. In June 1991, the Ministry of Defence placed a £520 million order for 140 vehicles, with a further 268 ordered in 1994. Production began in 1993 and the unit's tanks were delivered in July 1994, replacing the Challenger 1. The tank entered service with the British Army in 1998, with the last delivered in 2002. It is expected to remain in service until 2035. The Army of Oman ordered 18 Challenger 2s in 1993 and a further 20 tanks in November 1997. The Challenger 2 is an extensive redesign of the Challenger 1. Although the hull and automotive components seem similar, they are of a newer design and build than those of the Challenger 1 and fewer than 5% of components are interchangeable. The tank's drive system provides a 550 km range, with a maximum road speed of 59 km/h. It has a four-man crew. The Challenger 2 is equipped with a 120-millimetre (4.7 in) 55-calibre long L30A1 tank gun, the successor to the L11 gun used on the Chieftain and Challenger 1. Uniquely among NATO main battle tank armament, the L30A1 is rifled, because the British Army continues to place a premium on the use of high explosive squash head (HESH) rounds in addition to armour-piercing fin-stabilized discarding-sabot armour-piercing rounds. The Challenger 2 is also armed with a L94A1 EX-34 7.62 mm chain gun and a 7.62 mm L37A2 (GPMG) machine gun. Forty nine main armament rounds and 4,200 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition are carried. The Challenger 2 is considered to be one of the best protected tanks in the world. The turret and hull are protected with second generation Chobham armour (also known as Dorchester). However, on one occasion, in August 2006, during the post-invasion stage of the Iraq War 2003 an RPG-29 was fired at a Challenger 2 that was climbing over a ramp, the front underside hull armour of the tank which was not augmented with an ERA package was damaged, the tank subsequently returned to base under its own power and was quickly repaired and back on duty the following day. As a result, the ERA package was replaced with a Dorchester block and the steel underbelly lined with armour as part of the 'Streetfighter' upgrade as a direct response to this incident. To date, the only time the tank has ever been seriously damaged during operations, was by another Challenger 2 in a 'blue on blue' (friendly fire) incident. It has seen operational service in Bosnia, Kosovo and Iraq. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- From Wikipedia article --------------------------------------- I've had this for awhile, but since I'm new to EB, only just got around to posting them here. This is the best Lego rendition of a Chally that I've ever found online, so I'm actually very proud of this model. The green-and-gray camo one was built as a Christmas present for my younger brother, who likes the Challenger alot. Hope you all like it! Cheers, Joshua

    UK Sales

Is it just me or have the UK Lego sales, since Black Friday, been virtually non-existant? Usually the January sales begin on boxing day, which is still true to some extent but there's nothing with more than a 35% discount so far. Even Amazon had nothing of substance in their Boxing Day sale. Bad news for us UK bargain hunters.
  11. Hi all. I’m hoping to find out about any groups or events in the UK that are particularly interested in Technic Mocs, mods etc. Or at least include some in their collection. I see lots of videos and photos of gatherings on YouTube or Flickr in the US and Europe. I am aware of adult Lego groups in the uk however they are not really interested in Technic. I know that the Technic side of the community will always be smaller and I think that by nature we are more solitary creatures. I do wander why it is so hard to find this kind of thing over here though, I know there are many talented builders In this country. Are we just a miserable lot? Do I really have to get on an airplane and cross the channel to see some of these custom creations in the flesh? Many thanks Troy
  12. Hi all My name is Nate Dias, from Nottinghamshire, UK. I came out of my dark ages around ten years ago, whilst at university. Since then I have been collecting and MOCing whenever I can. After visiting a few shows I was persuaded to join a LUG (Brickshire) and that really started my AFOL life. Since then I have exhibited my MOCs at lots of different shows around the UK, and I am now a LAN Ambassador for Northern Brickworks RLUG. More recently I have been a contestant on a TV show here in the UK called 'LEGO MASTERS', I don't know how many of you will have heard of it though? I enjoy collecting Creator, City, and Marvel Superheroes sets, as well as making my own MOCs too. I'm really excited to get to know you all and to become a part of this fantastic community. Thanks Nate
  13. I am interested in the boat and boatman from 70610 Flying Jelly Sub from the Ninjago Movie line, but not the sub or other minifigures from the set. If anyone is buying this set and would be willing to part it out, I would be interested in buying the boat and boatman. All parts must be brand new, straight out of the box. I'm in the UK, so UK sellers preferred but not essential. Interested? Please PM me. From this set... I'd like to buy...
  14. In order to reduce my vast Lego collection I have decided to part from numerous sets in the Superheroes and Star Wars themes that I no longer feel as attatched too. I want to charge reasonable prices as would much rather sell on here than on the horror that is eBay and with this site feel that the people purchasing the Lego it will go to a real happy collector :) I will give a sensible price next to each of the sets but am happy to accept offers. There are a number of sets still in my wanted list that I would be very happy to trade for either new or complete with manual and box, I will list these towards the bottom. All my sets for sale come in good condition from a serious collector and all contain the manual and original box. Unfortunatley I am only willing to ship to the U.K and price of postage is not included in the price but am very happy to be given a sensible offer for postage rather than doing so on my own accord. I have a an eBay and paypal account I can use to verify myself with that has over 1200 positive feedback scores. All the best and hope all you Lego collectors are having a fantastic weekend :) Sets for sale or trade; - Lego Star Wars 7965 Millenium Falcon £80 - Lego Star Wars 7661 Hyperdrive and Booster Ring £45 - Lego Star Wars 75093 Final Duel £50 - Lego Star Wars 75082 Tie Advanced Prototype £30 - Lego Star Wars 750100 First Order Snowspeeder £20 - Lego Star Wars 75049 Snowspeeder £25 - Lego Star Wars 75152 Imperial Assault Hovertank £20 - Lego Star Wars 75135 Obi Wan Kenobi's Jedi Starfighter £15 - Lego Star Wars 75099 Rey's Speeder £10 - Lego Star Wars 75164 Rebel Battle Pack £6 - Lego Superheroes 76058 Ghost Rider & Spiderman Team Up £12 - Lego Superheroes 76021 Milano Spaceship Rescue £60 **REST HAVE ALL BEEN SOLD** Looking to Trade for any of the following; - Lego Batman Movie 70908 The Scuttler - Lego Batman Movie 70906 The Jokers Lowrider - Lego Batman Movie 70904 Clayface Splat Attack - Lego Star Wars 75172 Y-Wing Starfighter - Lego Superheroes 76080 Ayeshas Revenge - Lego Superheroes 76081 Milano VS. Hey there, My question especially for those who've moved to another country for good (EU zone, UK to be exact); Will be moving to UK if everything goes according to plan, want to move my collection as i invested a lot both in money and in effort. Anyone did something like this? Any of your comments, opinions, suggestions are welcome. Do i need to pay any import taxes for private goods? Will be shipping to myself. What method should be used? Which company could be used? Any known international movers? Any occurred problems/solutions? Thank you.

    Aardman Animations LEGO adverts?

One of the many companies Aardman Animations (the studio behind Wallace & Gromit and Creature Comforts) have made adverts for is LEGO. What is uploaded on YouTube by the Hall of Advertising channel is one advert done for Train... And one very impressive advert done for Pirates... But also, my Creating 3-D Animation book mentions a spaceman advert Aardman made that was similar to the Pirates one. I looked it up and yes, I found a Space advert with the same construction characters (2:30): But I've also seen listed in an interview a mention of producing advertising for LEGO Star Wars. This interview came out before Chicken Run and LEGO Star Wars came out in 1999 so it must have been in the franchises early years. http://www.telepathy.co.uk/aardman/culture/faqs.html Does anyone know of some early LEGO Star Wars advert with stop-motion in it?
  19. Hi all, Yes, I am a 'new' member here, kind of. A few years ago, I lurked and dabbled with emerging from the dark ages. However, I never fully escaped its clutches. Now, I am back and raring to go. Motivated by two kids who love Lego, I am really interested in having a city layout in our hobby room. For those interested, my name is Ian and although I was born and raised near Manchester, England I now live just outside Stockholm, Sweden. Jag kan pratar lite svenska men inte så mycket! Im much better in English, especially when it is typed as you don't have to tolerate my accent! The lego room was looking great until last week, with some tables laid out and a train track in operation, but alas, last week returning home with the temperature around -20 I found a leak, so currently have to redecorate the whole of the basement floor after it dries out. Interested in chatting with anyone, and especially keen to nosey at peoples city layouts. Live the dream, Ian
  20. A hugely important part of BRICK is the Fan Zone where we get to showcase MOCs from AFOLs from across the World. This year BRICK has expanded and we have 2 shows: we are at ExCeL in London again and we are launching at The NEC in Birmingham and we’re looking for your builds to help amaze and inspire our visitors. If you’d like to take part in the BRICK 2015 shows by displaying your MOCs then we’d love to hear from you! Last year we had a huge response: 145 AFOL Exhibitors, creating 4,000sqm of display. They came from the UK, Ireland, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Denmark, Norway, South Africa and the USA. We can't accept every submission, but we try our very best to accept everything we can to make the Fan Zone as awesome as possible and we're really excited to see what you've been building! All accepted Exhibiting AFOLs receive FREE accommodation, lunches and AFOLCON attendance, plus access to request funding if you need help in getting your display to the show(s). We can accept displays from anyone as long as you're over 18 (*over 16, with written legal parent/guardian consent), your display is cool and meets our criteria. Further info & some FAQs can be found here: http://www.afolcon.com/faq/ If you can’t find the answer to your question there, please email info@brickshows.co.uk and we’ll do our best to answer them for you. If you are interested in exhibiting your creations at the BRICK 2015 shows, please fill in the form(s) at this link: www.afolcon.com/exhibiting Submissions will close at 11:59pm GMT on Sunday 23rd August. Information on the show can be found at www.brick2015.com

    The Van Conundrum.

So I've been steadily increasing my collection of steam era 7 wide wagons over the last few months. Most of them came out remarkably well and remarkably quickly and needed little or no modifications to the original design, others (well the brakevan) needed a little work but didn't take too long all the same. Then there's the van conundrum. I just can't get these right, and it continues to bug me that the most simple shape a railway wagon can be is causing me the most issues. The original design took a lot of time to perfect, and in LDD looked pretty good, but it turned out to be less than solid in the bricks, and whilst it basically looks really good, it's also a bit too short compared to the other rolling stock I have and am designing. After a fair bit of faffing, I was still not altogether happy, so I decided to pad around the net for other people's ideas, and I stumbled across H.A.Brick's PF battery van kit. It arrived, and I enjoyed building it (there's an extra instruction book and some extra pieces to build it without the sensor hole), but it only served to highlight the problems with my existing design (too short, not sturdy enough). Never the less, it gave me some ideas, such as using some black Lego to represent the frames the van is sat on to bulk up it's height, so after slightly modifying the (upper part of the) build to closer fit my needs, I set upon one of my existing vans to have a look at the idea with my standard truck chassis design. The height was good, but the bufferbeam was terrible, in order to line up with the rest of my rolling stock, it needed to be lower than the 'frames' which just doesn't look right at all. The current line up, L-R: modified H.A.Bricks van, modified version of my cattlevan MOC (with some random colours and random gaps), my original standard van MOC. The modified H.A.Bricks design. Internally strengthened and black plate/rail removed from between the body and the roof to bring down to my preferred height. (See also the rather ugly bufferbeam of the truck next to it.) Modified version of my cattle van. Although now the correct hight, I really don't like the fact the bufferbeam isn't inline with the 'frames'. Original design. See the less than perfect panel alignment due to less than perfect internal structure plus old and chewed bricks. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Still not exactly happy with any of the designs, I went back to LDD. First I married the H.A.Bricks design with my own frames, and it wasn't bad but I was still not sure it was right for my preferred style and level of detail. Another thought I had was to add an extra plank to my existing design (and drastically redesign it internally). I've come up with several variations, none of which feels like a complete winner to me. H.A.Bricks inspired vans, both short and long bodied (whichever style I settle on, I will eventually produce long and short bodied versions). Several variations on the 7 high version of my van and cattle van. At the moment, my preferred normal van is the one with the 1x8 tiles running down the side and preferred cattle van will probably be a long bodied version of the one with the 1x8 tiles hanging down the side (although I can't decide on plain doors (middle version) or slatted doors (other two). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Any ideas or suggestions are very welcome, also if anybody wants the LDD files to play with (complete with engine and brakevan), feel free to PM me.
  22. I suppose many of you have the new BLOCKS mag that came out almost two weeks ago in WHSmiths stores across the UK, but I noticed there is no topic for it here. So what are your thoughts on the mag? Personally I thought it was a great read, however I was annoyed by the amount of spelling errors and in the contents, the reviews don't match up with their true pages. Let's hear your feedback!
  23. I'm getting to a point where I'm starting to feel it'd be really nice to have some people in real life to get inspiration from and bounce ideas off of. Sure there's you guys (who have been *really* helpful on my most recent build), Google image search and Flicker, but it's not the same as going somewhere, seeing real people, showing your stuff off, letting them show their stuff off to you and just socialising in real time. So are there others from the County Durham area who are already in a group or interested in getting together to form an informal group? Also, are there any members of the Yorkshire based group here who could tell me about their group (it's not ideal, but bits of Yorkshire aren't too far away from me? Finally are there any other Lego events other than the Great Western Lego Show (which looks awesome and all, but is far too far away and far too Great Western for my tastes! :P )?
  24. Hello everyone! My name is Chris, and I am a lifelong Lego fan from West Sussex in the UK. On the desk in front of me, I have a Volkswagen T1 Camper, modified Cuusoo DeLorean (with a number of MOC props from the Back to the Future films, of which I am a big fan), and a minifig-scale MOC VW camper with two BTTF Libyan terrorists! I look forward to sharing my photos of those MOCs with you, and asking for a little advice with a pet project I have been struggling with for a few months. I'm an occasional user of a few other Lego sites, online communities and tools. I subscribe to /r/Lego on Reddit for inspiration, use LDD to build my models, and head over to BrickLink and Brick Owl to buy the pieces I need to assemble them from bricks, not bits! I look forward to being a part of this community too.

    UK AFOLs Facebook Group

Hi all, I hope this isn't breaking and advertising rule or anything, but I just wanted to make people aware of a Facebook group I've set up for AFOLs in the UK. I've searched Facebook for a group to join but couldn't find one, so figured I'd set one up! I'm hoping to be able to discuss upcoming events, maybe organise a few meet ups, and get people to post pictures to the group! The link is below: https://www.facebook.com/groups/748875395155515/ Again, sorry if this breaks any of the EuroBricks rules, but I think a little UK community would be nice!
