I'm on fire at the moment three buildings in just one week, but this is also a w-i-p....printer issues are holding up the signage. Plus I need to start making custom minifigs. This is designed to be butted up against another building.......I also thought why not add some colour.......counter painted by local and BFF of Vicki the vet Molly Jones. Keep watching !

Hello, I have nothing to present here, but I have a bit of bricker's block, same as writer's block but in front of tiny bins full of lego parts :) I have space left in my train+town layout for a 16 by 32 base and building, facing the main (and only) street of my town. I had an 'emergency services station' there, part police, part fire station, but I've just dismantled it: too tall. I want a short building -- max height should be 13 bricks from base plate. The back faces a straight railroad, the front faces a main street. The back needs to look good, because I'll be looking at that most of the time :) It has to be short, because of perspective : I want to be able to see well the façades and details of the modular buildings on the other side of the street. Next to it there's a station and a small freight loading dock, so no more of those :) Ideas? I saw the small 16x16 adorable toy store posted this week, it's really neat. I initially wanted to build a store / exposition center for speed champions cars, but they're really too large for the space. What would you build? A one story bank? A library? A rambler i.e. one story house? A post office?

Hello, fellow Eurobrickers! Warning: This is a picture heavy post - and there's a lot of text as well :) I've been much less active over the past months here on the forums than I used to be. The main reason for that is that I've been very, very active in the real world of LEGO fans, having visited nine LEGO events in the last thirteen months. Part of the time, I've also been busy building - mainly for the LEGO Adventure Book, Volume 2. I was very honoured to be asked to participate in Megan Rothrock's first book, which turned out great - I'm very proud of having been a part of that, although my chapter is a little, tiny one with only six pages. It has taken me to events in Germany, Portugal, the UK and the Netherlands that I probably wouldn't have been to - at least not this early in my MOCing days - if it hadn't been for the book, and I have met so many great people (many of whom are active Eurobricks members) as a result of that. So when Megan asked me if I wanted to build something for the second book, I knew I would be stupid not to say yes. But I had to approach the challenge differently than with the first book, because the stuff that ended up in Volume 1 was all stuff that had already been published on my Flickr (apart for the Ace of Spades building instructions, which I made specifically for the book). For Volume 2, Megan wanted me to build something new. And obviously, if you're building something that goes into a book, you want to do your best. I couldn't just repeat what I did for the first book and build some cars. I needed to do something bigger, and that's why I decided to pursue an idea I'd had for a while, but didn't expect to actually be able to turn into reality for a while yet. I had toyed with the idea of building a gas station that would fit into a modular street, but I also wanted it to feature a (removable) parking deck on top and a ramp leading up to it. So I started out in MLCad with a 32x64 stud footprint. Not a good idea. After having built the entire ground floor and the ramp, it looked like this: I was quite happy with it - but then I thought it might be clever to check how it would look with some cars on it. And they didn't fit - they wouldn't be able to make the turn on the ramp, and they wouldn't really be able to get to the pumps. So it was back to the drawing board... This was so much better. I had another idea all along as well - a pet project of mine is, as some of you might know, updating the classic Town sets from the eighties and nineties, and a favourite set of mine from that era (that I didn't have as a kid, but bought right after coming out of my Dark Ages) is 6561, Hot Rod Club. My contribution to book 1 had a strong flavour of hot rods, so it made sense to just let that evolve into book 2 - and therefore I wanted to make an updated Hot Rod Clubhouse to go on top of the parking deck. I also wanted it to be removable so it could stand alone as a separate building, like the old one. And this is what I ended up with. Note that all stickers are official LEGO stickers. Here's a demonstration of the removable floors. The roof of the clubhouse also comes off (not visible in this picture): Some of my favourite details of the gas station: And the clubhouse: That last one is a respectful nod to the old set - the idea is that the hot rod club grew out of their old clubhouse... So, a gas station and a hot rod clubhouse. That's all good and well, but there needs to be some cars to go with it. First, the Gas Guzzler, a hot rod tanker truck. The idea came from those dark blue curved double slopes. I was able to pick up four of them from some building bins at an event in November, and I thought this would be a good way to use them. You can find complete instructions for the Guzzler in book 2. Add to this the hot rods that go with the updated clubhouse - two from set 6561 and, for good measure, set 6538, from the same year. Sweet Yello: Hot Howler: Rebel Roadster: And, for good measure, throw in a vintage car that I did earlier, the Blue Eagle, to be the gas station owner's daily driver (his name is Gus Gazzler, by the way): Complete instructions for this car can also be found in book 2. So there you have it: A modular gas station with a removable parking deck and a hot rod clubhouse, with three hot rods, a vintage car and a hot rod tanker truck - Chapter 3 of the LEGO Adventure Book, Volume 2, coming out in late November. Hope you like it - I'm certainly looking forward to getting my hands on the book to have a closer look at what the other contributors have built. There are some fantastic builders in there that I'm - again - honoured to be allowed to share space with in a book. And, personally, I feel this is my best build ever. Which is of course a very gratifying feeling when that was what I set out to do - and I was rewarded with a lot more pages in the second book :) More pictures of these MOCs can be found in my Service with a Smile photoset on Flickr. A little dairy shop for my WIP; an old town center! (part two, Butcher Shop, can be seen here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=105842 ) On display under the awning are tables with milk, eggs and cheese. There's also a milk can and butter churn. It has a full interior: a shop on the ground floor, with a kitchen/living upstairs and a bed/bathroom in the attic. (I might make pictures of the interior later, but it's nothing too special) I need to find/make a sticker for the sign, and I need to get some gold lattice panels for the arched windows. Hi everyone. This is my latest build named Avenue Saint-Jacques. It is a Haussmann styled building which are found in central Paris in abundance. I have wanted to do a 'Cafe corner' in a grand scale for a long time! It's not a build based on any real building that I know of. Most of these buildings have diagonal corners which I could not perfect to the point of being happy with. Also typically most buildings are seven stories high, this is only 6 as I ran out of bricks! Its about 76cm to the top of the chimneys. Part of the reason it is not a typical modular which I have done before was the fact I wanted to make an 'Art Nouveau' style Metro station and had to raise the street level to make steps down to the platform and also since it is an avenue the pavement had to be wider. In all its taken a couple of months to complete. The most difficult part of the build was incorporating the hinge into the side of the building for easier access to the apartments. I probably have not accurately portrayed the interior details and fittings so most of it is made up! I felt the building would have been quite sad without any interior details. On the ground floor there is a Cafe with street facing kiosk for pastries on the go, a clothes shop selling fine ladies wear and finally the Metro station entrance. The first floor has an office and a dental surgery. The four upper floors have apartments, with a top floor penthouse with a full balcony. Some apartments have kitchens and bathrooms which I have tried to get decent photo's to see the details. A central staircase allows access to all the rooms. The whole scene is based sometime in the past, not quite sure when but before the comforts of technology! I have added several exterior and interior pics for now. I've been following GoH for a while, and now I'm very excited to be joining Kaliphlin. Here's my character intro: Aymeri had grown up a desert nomad, but had always dreamed of being a knight. So when he was of age, he enlisted as a soldier in Katoren, hoping to one day win his spurs. He had been promoted quickly and now commanded a small group of soldiers. One of his missions was to capture two thieves that had been on a robbing spree in and around Katoren. Aymeri and his men managed to catch up with the two criminals as they attempted to rob a small farm outside the city: After capturing the crooks, Aymeri and his men started back to Katoren: After an hour's march, they reached a side gate of the city: Just inside the gate, several prominent members of Kaliphlin can be seen: Aymeri then continued to the the thieves' final destination: the Katoren jail. As a brother to my Dairy Shop (see http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=105597), I've just finished the second addition to my WIP; Old Town Square: a Butcher Shop! Butcher by Bennemans1984, on Flickr This shop has been in the family for centuries! It's well known among the locals for its fresh products and great service! Mr Butcher likes to keep his little stoop nice and clean for his customers. Primarily using the colors black, dark brown, dark tan and olive green, this building is noticeably darker than my Dairy Shop. It has plenty of elaborate wood carvings, including the bell-gable, the windows and the carving of a pig above the door of the shop. Outside, the butcher has displayed some dried sausages, a table with meat sauces and gravies, and some meats. In the window, the townsfolk can salivate over the meat, poultry and pork displayed there. Mr. Butcher takes pride in his family business! At the back is a little extension, which serves as the staff entrance to the butcher shop. The front door to the apartment above the shop is situated at the back as well. (of course the apartment is fully furnished, with a kitchen/living above the shop, and a bed/bathroom in the attic) Hope you guys like! Hey guys, Now that we have 3 years and many many waves of superheroes sets available to us i was wondering how people went about displaying them, personally i have separate little zones for Iron man, Bat-vehicles, Justice league characters, GOTG and my Arkham display, But us for all the oddities and randoms that the SH line gives us i have put them all into one big Town display, How do you guys display all the bits and pieces you have? Hey guys, I have found out you can use the minifgure style head piece inside of wheels to add some extra detail to some vehicles. Sorry in advance for slightly blurry images I wasn't using the best camera and I have unsteady hands. Hi! The life in big cities is impossible without snack bars. We can find them everywhere! They mean the only one choice for the running and hurrying people to get some food and drink quickly during that very short period of the day when they have a break. Well, this kind of foods and drinks are not the best for our health. Fortunately not every snack bar is bad. For example in my version if someone wants to eat something healthy and delicious, he or she can find it in the menu! Hope you find your favourite food here, and you leave a nice feedback in the visitors’ book! My favourite is the microwave oven and the hamburger tower! „The pizza is ready!” „The fish is ready!” „The chicken is ready!” „The two hamburgers are ready!” ’The hrr krhhh…. The loudspeaker is absolutely necessary. I’m sure, that the employee would get a massive sore throat at the beginning of the day without it! Someone pays, the lady puts the order into the computer, it appears on the central screen, the chef and the other workers look at it and they know what the next order is. The back is very lifelike, too! Empty bins and boxes, air-conditioner, vent hood, big and small trashes and a dog, who hopes to find something… and a lot of insects because of the food. The building has some interesting building techniques. I’m proud of the windows, they are doors after a rotation by 90°. I like it that the white frames are 3D, they leave the plane of the wall. The picture shows, what I put behind the tiles around the window. Look at the windowsills, too. I used offset plates under 2x2 tiles, 1x2 tiles can solve it without that plates. I started out in Pirates, and I've been really meaning to get some type of MOC out there for some time, because although most of my attention is on Star Wars work and projects right now, I thought I'd just do something small. Please comment and criticize, it shows me if it's good or not, and how to improve for next time . Now, as I said before, this is just a small project. I hope you guys like it.
