  1. I'd been thinking about building a tower using half stud offsets to make it smaller as it gets taller, but hadn't gotten around to actually doing anything until I saw Gideon's sweet lighthouse. That inspired this tower. There is a full interior as always. Glorfindel and Infernum had finally caught up with those responsible for the recent raids on Mitgardian homes and watchtowers. They waded through the swamp surrounding the tower, to try and reach the two Mitgardian prisoners, unnoticed. Meanwhile the two leaders of the raiding party were arguing at the top of the tower. The Hand of Corruption captain wanted to follow their orders and take the Mitgardian soldiers they had captured back to Nocturnus to work as slaves, but the Orc chieftain had other plans for the two. In the heat of the argument, the orc chieftain and one of his archers killed the captain and another Hand of Corruption warrior. By this time, Glorfindel and Infernum had made it to the prisoners. They armed the two with their daggers. Then Glorfindel picked the lock on the door and they charged in. The raiders were unprepared for an attack and were quickly killed. Glorfindel and Infernum restored the Mitgardian flag to its rightful place and discussed how to defend the Nocturnus border against more raiding parties such as this. A few more pictures of the build: More pictures can be seen here: link I hope you guys enjoyed this collaborative storyline. And a big thanks to Infernum for efforts in the collab
  2. I wanted to create a rounded tower using the hinge plates as a base and moving up from there using 1x2s of various heights. However, I can't get the hinge plates to create a circle with equal quadrants. I want it to be round enough, but not too round. Can someone give me a few sets of angles I could use to do so?
  3. Entry for Book II Challenge II Category B for deGothias side. The plague devastates Avalonia. Even the avalonian island Moria wasn't spared by the wave of illness. So Sir Moriartus called Mitgarda for medics, because of the good relations between him and some of the lords there. Aaron lost his wife and children in the last cruel war in Mitgardia and decided to study the old scriptures of medic. He wants to save other people from the dolor he got and save as much lives as possible. But the habitation of other people always reminds him of his dead family, so he lives solitary from the village on a small rock in the sea. In his small home he has everything he needs. Every day he paddle to the coast to heal people from the plague. The fight seems absurd, but Aaron tries his best to save the inhabitants of Moria. The free time Aaron has in his home, he spends on reading and rearing of swans. Explore all the details on MOCpages! I hope you like it and feel free to post your thoughts about this creation. :) Jonas
  4. My dearest Cassius, We are still in the tower. Since the first night, when the black ship was spotted, we haven't been attacked, but many of our men are dead or dying. I believe it is because they handled the dead orcs. I warned them to burn them, but they threw them into the water instead. Now, the pestilence is creeping through even my own body. I am old, Cassius. You know that. I have been old for a long time, since you were a child. I can feel that it is almost my time to go through that great door we call death. Do not grieve for me, for where I am going, I shall never be old again. These shall most likely be my final words to you, words so precious I shudder to think of entrusting them to the care of this bird. Do not fear. No matter what happens, be brave. If Avalonia falls, so be it. Everything is being orchestrated for a reason, Cassius. Do not fear. Farewell, Alfred ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Quite frankly, I love everything about this build. The photography sucks (I don't have access to my normal camera), but I think it might be one of my best builds so far. I originally planned for this to be a mountain top, but when I placed it on a blue baseplate to make sure it fit the limit, it just screamed island. So I ordered up some trans black bricks, (greatly underestimating how many), and made up some water. This is supposed to be a ruined tower build on an islet in the Mystic Isles that has recently been repaired. I'd also like to claim the following credits: Still water Wall technique #1 Window Frames C&c welcome, as always!
  5. Hey guys, Here's a moc I made focused around the two collectable minifigs; Evil Knight and Heroic Knight. Alas, the Heroic Knight was captured and imprisoned by the Evil Knight in his small outpost tower. The Evil Knight has got the Heroic Knight caged up. Under the tower there is a prison cell that was occupied at one point (the gate slides to open the cell), as well as a grate leaking green ooze. In the sewer in the front of the tower there's another skeleton, the evil knight has been busy. In the top of the tower is a winch used to raise and lower the cage (your eyes have to be pretty good to see this LOL) See all of the photos on my Flickr: EdgelessAbyss Thanks for checking it out guys, and feel free to post any questions, comments and/or criticism below.
  6. We (myself and teen aged kids) are wrapping up the bulk of the airport area of our city, so I thought I would post some pics. This has been a really fun project. We put a lot of thought into it and I think it turned out nice and is very playable yet as realistic as possible. So here goes: Overall shot of new runway. The wall has the gray tiles so we cleaned them out. We added the approach lighting and bearing markings with white tiles and flat clear and red pieces. While this is not exactly to FAA standards, we thought the detail of the markings would look nicer especially since we have no room for the actual lighting in advance of the runway. Here you can see the fire station area and general aviation area. We would like to add a hanger and fire station structure in the future. overall shot showing the runway, tower and gen aviation area is secure. Here is the commercial terminal area. It's a bit crowded, but we used the space as efficiently as possible. The jetway moves and extends. Main entrance to terminal. The parking garage is right next door. Here you can see the airport monorail station is just on the other side of the rail road bridges. The terminal has all the stuff a terminal should have, ticketing, screening, baggage check, seating. The top floor of the garage has been converted to a heliport. But there is a large surface parking lot behind the garage, so still plenty of parking Here are some more pics of the airport and a few of how it ties into the rest of the city. You can drive to the airport from downtown, but it's a long drive through the suburban and industrial areas to get there or you can take transit and it's one stop across the bay. Hope you enjoy the photos. Comments welcome, we are always looking for improvements. Thanks!
  7. This MOC was built by my 12 year old brother. He's very happy with how this build turned out, there are full interiors in the buildings too. The dragon that Kendrick and Basil had heard about was ravaging the countryside. Targeting no specific kingdom his attacks were feared by all: More pictures can be seen here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=543185 He would appreciate any C&C
  8. Above the barren and obscure wastelands near the Imperial London rises an odd and huge figure. But it is not one of the giants of the old age. It is a machine and it is a house, in fact it is the homely home of Mr. Edward Higgs, eccentric inventor and gentleman who definitely respects peace and desolation. Higgs's home is a typical home of an bachelor (at least on some aspects). There isn't that clean as there's no one to nag about things. As Higgs's inventing projects take some room (one of the three floors) and the machinery of the house isn't that small neither (it is an old steam sawmill tower) he has his bedroom, toilet and the old boiler room all in the same space. Isn't that handy? He doesn't have room for chairs around his table, but fortunately he can sit on the stairs while eating. The sewer system is also very compact and helps Higgs to avoid the sewage costs. As it would be troublesome and time-consuming to climb all the 32 ladders when coming home, Higgs has built a fold-out ramp for his helipack on the first floor. There is also a big steamp-powered hoister above the ramp to make it easy to lift heavy objects into the house. Another of Higgs's homely inventions is the big propeller on the wall of the first floor. It is not an air conditioning system, but a wind tunnel propeller that helps Higgs to make his airs vessels as aerodynamic as possible. This is my entry on the Home Sweet Home contest, category A. The house fits easily on 48x48 baseplate. I'm happy to be able to take part on this contest as steampunk is definitely my favourite theme and contest allowing that madness are not that common. This MOC was built and photographed in two days; late bird catches a worm anyway. More stuff can be found on Cyclopic Bricks, Flickr and Brickshelf.

    MOC: Twisted Victorian

This odd building appeared into Palikkala Town's House fair on one misty Thursday evening. The origins of the house was unclear, but some thought it was from another time and century and somewhat associated with an odd incident of disapperaing house in 1867. An odd fellow with cardigan and trilby hat was seen on the stairs drinking morning tea... This house was build for Finnish LUG Palikkatakomo RY's contest on Model Expo (a big scale model show thing) where we had an exhibit. My house was third (on a ranking shared on two entries) on a visitor voting. Hope you like it! There's more on Cyclopic Bricks and Flickr.

    Trebuchet Attack

I tried to make this build as much like an official set as possible. The wall/tower can hinge at two points, there is a secret door hidden in the wall, and the trebuchet works. See the trebuchet in action here: After receiving so many requests to put Manaor Castle, or a simplified version thereof, on Cuusoo, I got to thinking about designing several smaller builds that could all be hooked together to form a large modular castle. I know a lot of Castle fans have always wanted LEGO to produce something like that, so I thought I'd give it a try. I'd be selling the sets myself. And I'd probably put the idea up on Cuusoo at some point, or even Bricklink now that it's going to have a MOC store. I'm not worried about selling tons of sets, 5-10 a year would be plenty for me. This is my first build/prototype for the project. I purposely tried to make this build like a set, so mostly simple building, a cool secret door in the wall, working trebuchet, and no super piece intensive techniques. I'm using official fig parts shuffled around to make two basic factions, blue/black and red/dark green. This build contains 406 parts, only one of which is a panel. There are plenty of useful castle parts: 18 bley headlight bricks, 4 bley brick modified with stud, 25 bley 1x1 brick, and 28 bley 1x2 bricks, and lots more. I'd be selling this set for 65$ which includes shipping to anywhere in the US. If anyone was interested in the set without figs, that would lower the price to 50$; or for just the wall tower and two figs that go with it, 40$; or just the trebuchet and its two figs, 20$. I'm planning to use LDD to make the instructions for the sets. For those outside the US, I'd be willing to sell the instructions by themselves for around 2-5$. I'd really like to hear some feedback from you guys on what your thoughts on the project are, whether it's feasible, what kind of sets to do, etc. I already have a lot of possible set ideas in the 20-30$ range and a few larger ones. Anyways let me know what you think.

    The Gate of Dunholm

Hello folks Here comes the newest stuff build by THE BRICK TIME building yard. It is the Gate of Dunholm. As you can see the door is flanked by two massive towers. And the the door-wings are armored with strong wood and metal. I just wanted to mix an ancient roman style with parts of medical town and castles. So the gate fits in the whole scene of Dunholm. Lets have look: Overview - Closed door and some guards on the battlement. Some peasants making some "Wusel" around the gate. And you can see some details here. If you like to learn more about the Gate of Dunholm and the Northland check up THE BRICK TIME or our FlickR gallery. Best regards BoB

    Drowned Town

On the far western border of Burnby, there is a town that dates from the time of the Kaliphlin Conquest. When the guilds were formed, it was abandoned in favor of newer settlements. However, over time, the river Avonmora, once the lifeblood of the town, grew until it covered the entire valley. Only the tallest buildings poked above the water. Nobody knows exactly when, but sometime in the last three hundred years the area was resettled by exiles from both Mitgardia and Kaliphlin. They fashioned homes out of wood, and built them on top of the ruins. Now they fly the Avalonian colors. Fishing is a major part of their economy. Guards are posted to keep an eye out for bears in the winter months. They like to steal the fish. People store and gut fish away from their homes, so that they will stay clean. The organs are thrown back into the river, so that the May nourish the other fish and continue the cycle. Due to all the fish, there is a large cat population. Since they have no farmland or animals, a lot of the supplies must be imported. Using barges made of logs, they float up and down the river, selling fish and trading for supplies. While they're traveling, the rivermen live in their barges. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This was one of those really fas builds. I really enjoyed building it, and hope you like looking at it! I'd also like to claim the following: Shipping by Water Fishing Oceanside or river scene C&c welcome!
  13. This is my first entry for the Age of Mitgardia freebuild challenge After William, Maxime and Alexander walked trough the woods of Mitgardia for a few days, they decided that it was time to search for a place where they could rest. They were exhausted and needed sleep and food. They found a river full of fish and now they just had to find a safe place to rest. There was a big rock a few meters from the river and after finding out that there was a hollow space underneath it, they decided that this would be their home for the next couple of days. William climbed on top of the rock and had an amazing view. He could see that they were not far away from a little village, because he saw smoke coming up above the hills, but for now, they're too tired to travel further. William stayed on top of the naturally shaped tower to watch out for any hunters or dangerous animals. William Bright on top of the rock The hollow space underneath the rock, covered with leaves to protect them from unwanted visitors. Without the minifig. I'm a newbie to building MOC's and the small amount of bricks I have doesn't really compensate that but I hope that, with your C&C and these phase builds, I keep getting better at it. So, I would really appreciate any C&C from you guys Thanks for viewing.
  14. I'd like to receive UoP credit for flowers and dense foliage landscaping [Landscape Design] = 1 credit. The second installment in the collab between myself and Infernum. Many grotesque happenings at the Mitgardia/Nocturnus border have been reported. Trying to discover what is going on, two Mitgardian soldiers were sent to one of many Mitgardian watchtowers at the border... "Look! The tower has been destroyed!" cried one of the soldiers as they came into view of what used to be a strong stone and wood tower. "And a Mitgardian soldier's helmet left speared on our flag," growled the other. "Come, we must report this to Chorian immediately," and with that the two soldiers set off for Valholl... I used a different camera for these pictures, so no more blurry sections from a scratched lens. All C&C welcome

    Valdrfell Stables

Here is my Phase III Stables build for AoM. I'd like to gain credit for the following UoP certifications: roofing [Architecture], wall techniques [Architecture] (for the log cabin), roof rakes [Architecture], and raising livestock [Agriculture and Zoology]= 4 credits This was my first try using tilted walls (for the foundation of the tower), and I think they worked pretty well. This was also my first time building a log cabin using SNOT 1x1 round bricks. All three buildings have a full interior and all the doors/trapdoor function. And I tried using a dark grey background rather than white in hopes of having the snow show up better. Any feedback on that? Trained Great Wolves are in high demand and fortified stables have become common in Mitgardia. Valdrfell Stables is a fortified stables located in the Clan Lands of Mitgardia. The fortress has a stable inside, and a corral just outside to train the great wolves in. More pictures can be found here: link All C&C welcome
  16. Hey all, here I am again with another entry for AoM, it isn't an official entry, because it's a phase lV tower, and the phases only go to lll. So, is it an entry? I don't know. It is just a tower, continuing the story of two brave warriors going on a mission from their lord to build a tower in the far and cold North. Now onto the story and the pics. Today we got a visit from Alfadas, he is not very pleased with the result, but it is better then nothing he said. So, we made some more improvements, and now he is pleased. He wanted to have a couple of small catapults, so we made him a couple of small catapults. He wanted a high tower, higher then now, but that just isn't possible. We don't have enough stone here to do that. He agreed with that. No problem he said. He brought a soldier with him, and that soldier just stands on the wall, motionless. Creepy. But now the temperatures are even colder then a few weeks ago, we don't think that is a problem. We can stay inside most of the time. Alfadas said he is happy with the result of the tower, and he needs to go back to the South, there is a war about to start? I don't know. I am happy here. Alfadas promised to send more food supplies, and he also said that we might meet an old acquaintance. Wonder who that is. And the reason the snow is a bit yellow, well, you know why. That is the story so far. The soldier I was talking about. He didn't move an inch from the moment he stood there. The top of the tower, with the catapults. Now we don't have enough room on top of it to defend the tower. And the back of the tower, with a view to the inside. And a closer look to the inside. Here we are talking with Alfadas. I wonder how he got that wooden leg, he doesn't talk about it. But I am positive he had two normal legs when I last saw him. And here is the way we made the supports for the platform. Nice right? That was it for now, hope you like it, and no, I didn't use the flash. I don't think the story will be continued. C&C appreciated.
  17. Talia: Awake and alert yet, my Detective? The tranquilliser i prepared was timed to wear off around now. It must be quite dark in there, and the air will run out shortly. Are you beginning to take me seriously, at last? The Heretic throws a safe with Batman inside into a pool The Leviathan Helicopter Before i begin talking i just wanted to say one thing. Batman Incorporated: Leviathan Best. Batman. Comic. Ever So this is Wayne Tower Penthouse as it appears in Batman Incorporated. So i finally finished this Moc after making a few others on the way. I think it turned out ok. My favourite part has to be the Leviathan Helicopter, that will be a keep for the next year or so. I have had this in mind ever since i read Batman Incorporated. What a great conclusion to the run of the decade. So i think i will stop making Batman Mocs for a while and expand to other themes. Based off the events in Batman Incorporated #7

    A Clever Trap

Here's my entry for Category A of Challenge I. I had a lot of fun putting this together and I think it turned out nicely. I'd like to receive UoP credit for: battle scene [Military Science], and fortifications [Military Science] = 2 credits The Wolfpack has many watchtowers throughout Nocturnus, some in better shape than others... After receiving word that a group of Hand of Corruption soldiers were in the area, Gavin planned a clever trap. Some of his men lured the group to one of their watchtowers. The Hand of Corruption soldiers, seeing their foes fleeing before them gave chase, just as Gavin had hoped they would: Gavin's men quickly ducked into the tower. And the horde following them quickly turned their attention to the fresh bacon lying on the doorstep. After all, their quarry was trapped in the tower, right? Gavin quickly seized his opportunity and knocked the prison cage off its supports and let it fall on the group below: I just got a new webhost so now my website address is brickbuilt.org (not .tk). This should fix the problems some of you were having with the site and make it much more reliable. I'm planning on making some major updates on the site in the near future as well. More pictures of the build can be seen at the new website, here. Any C&C is appreciated
  19. Please read this first: Tower Phase l Here I am again, to bring you an update. We found an abandoned stone thing when we were looking for supplies (we didn't find anything but snow). It was a ruin of a tower used by orcs (based on what we found inside, it was a giant mess). We headed back to our own tower, took it down and used the wood to repair the tower. It is still very cold here, and we hardly have food to live from. We left a note in the remains of our wooden tower that says we moved, so if there are ever going to be supplies, they know where to send it to. We still here creepy noises at night, they are getting closer and closer every night. I think the orcs don't like what we did to their tower, but I don't care. Bring it on, filthy orcs! Or whatever else is ruining my sleep. That is the tower with me on top. Don't I look cool? I think I do. That is the tower from above. Snow everywhere, even if I keep cleaning it. The tower from one side. It was pretty damaged when we moved in. That is why there is that many wood everywhere. Tower from another side. O, and this is the first time my friend left the tower. And did he help repairing the tower? No. Of course not. He rather spend his time eating chicken and hugging the fire. The back of the tower. And he is back inside. His spear and shield didn't move since we arrived here. I hope we see some orcs soon. And the inside of the tower. Pretty comfy, right? And here we are again. Tell me, I look cool right? Right? Ok, see you next time!
  20. Here we are, in the far north. Far from any civilisation, for no particular reason other then to please our Lord. Objective: build a nice outpost there, and defend it with your life. Well, I hope he calls us back soon, here is nothing to find then snow, snow and nothing but snow. And man, what is it cold here! I don't have much problems with that, but my mate here has. At night we here a lot of scary noises, so I think we are close to a nice fight to warm up our frozen limbs. That's me, guarding the tower. And that is my mate. He doesn't do much else then getting his feet burned by the fire and eating our supplies. At least we have wood to burn and nice ale to drink, if it isn't frozen. And behind that are my weapons, in desperate need of blood! That's me again, standing guard in the harsh wind. And yes, that is a plant as the Mitgardian flag. My nice friend was cold so he used the green as a scarf. Here we are again, me with armor and bow, beside me my mate with his chicken leg. By the way, that was our last meat. Now all we have left is ale and wood. Lovely. Hope we get supplies soon, or at least find some orcs to slay. I'll be back soon! All comments are welcome, and sorry for the blurry pics. (Please no comments on the pics, just on the moc itself). The pics are better now, right?

    Swamp Defenders

This is my entry for Category B: Defensive Structure. Enjoy! After recruiting the Wolf Tribe to fight for Nocturnus, Rasmus and his Mitgardian friends began the return journey back to Nocturnus's capital, Abyssian. They spent days sneaking through the many swamp lands of Nocturnus, avoiding many Black Spire tratiors. Eleven days into their return journey they came across an abandoned tower situated on a high cliff. Knowing that Black Spire spies and armies used the swamp lands frequently, they began to bring in provisions and fortify the tower. They vowed no Black Spire traitors would pass the tower alive for as long as they defended the area. After 3 weeks, their vows hold true. They have taken down many enemy spies and after Rasmus's latest supply run, they have enough provisions to last six more months in the tower. Though news isn't all good, there are rumors that the enemy is gathering a large group to overtake the tower. Will this be the end for Rasmus and his men?
