  1. It all started a year ago. I was following toomuchcaffeine's project on cuusoo (micro star wars scenes), and in the comments he said he had trouble making an X-wing. I could spare some time, and I started building myself, in the hope that I could contribute to that wonderful project. I wondered how small I actually could go making the X-wing. I wanted to make it instantly recognizable and yet very tiny (those official micro models from the planet sets are great, but you can't call that micro ). So I had to use some odd parts for het most iconic features: the wings. The X-wing got car doors.Once I had that key-feature, I kept the main body simple and focused on the shape. I suggested this design, but (obviously!) it was too big for 2MC's project (no hard feelings!) But I started to really like this micro-scale building. I improved my X-wing, and decided to deliver him a friend enemy. The TIE-advanced got shields as wings. I was happy with this micro build and I made this little scene, complete with pew-pew lasers! (the flick-fire missiles are unfortunately out of scale ...) Again, built with LDD and rendered with LDD2POV-Ray. Then, I amused myself by making a real scene , with the excuse of letting you see the model from another angle... Hope you like it, and if you do: thank you, the pleasure is all mine. Eurobricks is awesome

Community Build: SW The Clone Wars

"This War Will Claim Us All..." With the conclusion of the Future of Star Wars contest it's time again to continue the community builds! The last few builds have been great successes, so let's get started on a new one. This is not a contest, just a chance for everyone to build in the same theme. Your entry can be any size shape or form as long as it relates to the Clone Wars, either show or the movie, we're not picky. The deadline is May 31, 2013. Guidelines for posting: 1) Post your MOC in a separate topic in the LSW forum with the topic tag CBSW The Clone Wars. 2) Reply to this thread with a picture of your MOC and a link to the entry thread. 3) You may post as many pictures of your MOC as you like inside your entry thread. Pics should be no larger than 800x600. 4) Your entry will be added beside your name in the Sign-ups. 5) You may create as many new MOCs as you want, but please do your best to complete them before the deadline. MOCS: R5-J2 and R2-R7

Hi all, I have jumped on the bandwagon and delivered two alternate Astromech designs based off the UCS 10225 R2-D2 model. Now my boys and I have one each. Hope you enjoy the colour variations and R5 head design. Inspired by Monsterbrick and Tigmon. R2-R7 by I Scream Clone, on Flickr R5-J2 by I Scream Clone, on Flickr Cheers ISC.

  5. Hello and welcome to my fourth review! This is the first of my Eurobricks Reviewers Academy Bronze Level reviews. I brought this set because it came with some of the coolest minifigs ever and it didn't hurt my wallet that bad as well. So go ahead and read the review, I'm sure you will like it! BASIC INFORMATION: Set Name: Elite Clone Trooper & Commando Droid Battle Pack Set Number: 9488 Number of Pieces: 98 Minifigs: 4 Price: $12.99 USD Theme: Star Wars (The Clone Wars) Year Released: 2012 HELPFUL LINKS: Brickshelf (My gallery for this review) Brickset Bricklink LEGO Shop @ Home THE REVIEW: The Box Front: The front of the box showcases a nice little battle scene with the set in action. I can't help but think how fake the big blast to the right looks. Back: Here is the back of the box. This is a normal LEGO Star Wars box sight. This is where LEGO shows us the main features of the set. Image courtesy of eBay. Side: To me this guy is the coolest LEGO clone ever released. If I was to be a LEGO clone, I would want to be him. The back of the box is just a normal scene that shows us the play features. I think we should just move on. Contents: Dark red is pretty much the main color in this set. Some interesting pieces include the clear piece and the two cape pieces. Cape Pieces: Here are the cape pieces for the commando clone, which includes one red shoulder pad cape and one black leg cape. Extra Pieces: The extra pieces are a black round stud, a 1x1 black tile, a black Technic connector, some droid arms, and bunch of dark red clone helmet visors and radios. Minifigs ARC Trooper Front: As I mentioned earlier in this review, I think this minifig is the coolest clone ever. He looks great, the capes are awesome and the torso is a great match. The only complaint I have is that the printed feet are a little strange and not necessary. ARC Trooper Back: The backpack is simple yet perfect for the minifig. ARC Trooper without the Helmet: The only thing I can say here is that the minifig has the standard clone head that is found in many Star Wars sets. ARF Trooper Front: This guy is a little more bland than his counterpart. The helmet, however, suggests that this minifig is a member of Commander Wolf's soldiers because it has a wolf logo printed on each side. ARF Trooper Back: The back of the ARF Trooper is very boring as there aren't any accessories for it and I believe that this is a fairly common back printing. ARF Trooper without the Helmet: Just like his fellow counterpart, he has the standard clone head. The Commando Droids Front: I have never really liked LEGO's droids because they don't display all that well and don't offer much in the way of playability; however, these probably are my favorite ones. I really like the color, and the face, for some reason, is appealing to me. Commando Droids Back: I asked myself, do I really need to show the back? I guess it doesn't hurt anybody to show it. The Cannon Before the Cannon and Support Legs: Here's the body of the cannon before the cannon and support legs are attached. My question is why is there a clear round 2x2 under the cannon? I tried to see if the legs supported the cannon without it and they did. The Finished Cannon: This is a pretty good cannon, especially for a battle pack with awesome minifigs. The legs are quite the eye candy and any minifig fits perfectly in that seat. The Full Set: This set is one of the better ones I have have purchased. Let's go see how it adds up in my totals! Image courtesy of LEGO. TOTALS: Design: 9/10 A really well-designed cannon. The legs are eye candy, the seat is great, and it looks realistic. The only thing holding it back from being a ten is the flick-fire missile. I can see why TLG needed to provide playability by having a "shooting" canon, but to an AFOL it is simply not needed. Parts: 9/10 Considering that this is a battle pack, there are many useful parts within this set that certainly would be beneficial to any MOCer. Build: 9/10 A rather simple build with nothing out of the ordinary. There are no challenges in this build, nothing should make you look twice at the instructions. Minifigs: 10/10 The minifigs, particularly the clone troopers, are wonderful! The clones are more detailed than the norm and the droids are much better than their counterparts. Playablity: 8/10 I wouldn't say it is an awesome set to display, but it isn't bad. For kids, this set could be played with for hours and hours. Price: 8/10 It is a battle pack which makes me think that it should be around $8-10 (USD). But for some of my fellow AFOLs, the MSRP is a pretty good price because it comes with awesome minifigs and great pieces. Total: 53/60 I fully recommend this set for any LEGO Star Wars fan. The minifigs are great and the pieces are very good for MOCing. The cannon isn't bad either, but, as you probably know, the minifigs are the star feature of this set.

    A Star Wars question.

Hey everyone, I have been wondering why Jango Fett is the "father" of the Clones, but fight against them in 75015 CAT-Droid and in the episode 2: Attack of the Clones movie. I think that is weird. I have read the book, but didn't really find the answer. I hope you guys now it. Jeroenaa
  7. Hello Eurobricks !! I'm searching for a book, not any book, but a book with the incredible crossections of Star Wars Vehickles ! To be specific , the one with the Clone Turbo Tank on front. I'm looking to buy it, but without a Credit Card , I can't get far, I only have paypall, so my options are limited . I prever a seller here in the Netherlands, ( who is willing to part with it ) for a normal rate , but any seller will do if you accept paypal. If you feel the need to help me on my way to this book, PLEASE ! help me. Also , I'm looking for others aswell, I have the one with the MF on the cover, but I want the one with the CTT on the cover most urgently. I really want this book, but sadly the release date was 2005, and living in an area that doesn't have a lot of good bookstore's ( like the American Bookstore ) it's really difficult to get hold of. So in short : Help me !! grtz Saint

  9. Professor Physika

    Salutations, Professor Physika here!

Hello, I've been sorta stalking this LEGO forum for quite a while, the creations here have been given me amazing inspiration for my own MOCs. I've been a fan of LEGO since 1999 when the first Star Wars sets were released, my first set being 7111 Droid Fighter. Since then, I've been an avid collector of LEGO Star Wars sets. Other themes I am or was interested in were and is Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, City, Exo-Force (missed some Star Wars sets I should've picked up because of that theme), Life on Mars, and very briefly Atlantis. To this day, Star Wars is the only theme I buy from or make MOCs from, so you can guess where I'm gonna be spending most of my time As soon as I buy a nice enough camera, I'd be interested in joining the Reviewer's Academy, although I haven't looked up the details for that yet. So that's about me and my LEGO-savviness! I hope this was an alright starting post and I hope to visit here often! Salutations!
  10. So this was a creative scene I came up with. Following the Death of Pre Vizsla and the citizens finding out they were being controlled by Maul, they took to the streets trying to get to the palace. His Mandalorian Soldiers(Death Watch) took up arms and riot shields to block of all exits-Sorry about older Mandalorian figures-This is one of my first smaller scale MOC's but I tried to have as much action/realism in it as possible. All constructive criticism is appreciated and I hope you enjoy! Those were all the pictures I could fit in. Sorry about the quality-Hopefully I can fix that for next time.
  11. I have always loved Lego since I was a child but never really got into building my own stuff. This was mainly because I am the type of person that builds Lego for display and not for play. I care about how accurate the Lego model is compared to the real thing and don't care at all about how fun or practical it is to play with. I can't afford to have a huge collection of Lego to use to create models up to my standards. I also wasn't skilled enough with creating original physical models to be able to use the various virtual programs made by fans to create stuff that I was sure would actually work in real life. These programs were essentially CADs with a library of Lego parts you would "stick" together. I use the term stick because that's what they were doing. The programs couldn't actually recognize proper or more importantly improper connections. For master builders this isn't a problem. For some one new who didn't have the blocks in real life to test and couldn't afford to spend $100s buying bricks only to realize the model wouldn't hold together structurally in real life this was a huge problem. The only other alternative was Lego's own Lego Digital Designer which was incredibly basic at best. Until now (well for the last few years but I only just realized). The big difference between Lego's own program and the fan's was that while it was still simpler and more restrictive it could actually detect if bricks are connected or not. This was huge for someone like me (sure the program can't tell what the model's structural integrity is like but I like to think i'm skilled enough to do that). The barrier between me and making my own Legos was finally broken. I've spend the last week designing my own Midi-scale Venator-class Star Destroyer. This was because I love the ship's design and Lego only made a Play-set version which looked terrible. is not There have been many MOCs of the Venator ranging from simple 40ish piece models to that famous 35000 parts one and everything in-between. I've found the 4000 piece models scaled like the offical lego Star Destroyer or recent Executor to be the best looking that aren't made from tens of thousands of pieces. There are even instructions for some of them http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=132718. They however will cost at least $500 to make.... so I decided to go smaller. There are many amazing mid scale fan creations but none of them are willing to share building instructions (either since they designed it using real bricks or they just don't want to). There was one that was willing to share Instructions (by Chris Deck) http://sw.deckdesign...tor/venator.htm and I used that as a starting point but it felt restricted aesthetically since the author decided to build it to a scale of one stud to 50m. My first attempts based on the above instructions: After this first attempt which was based heavily on the official Midi-Scale Imperial Star Destroyer I decided the model looked too fat vertically compared to the real thing and started to work on a thin version based on another person's MOC by V1lain. I contacted the author and he said the reason it was never finished was because it was incredibly structurally unsound (as I soon discovered myself while trying to replicate it) In the end I decided to start over and make one completely myself (which took heavy inspiration from Brickdoctor) http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/141704 Around 15-20 hours later and I finally finished my first MOC (after basically going into hermit mode for a week). For my first ever original build I'm quite proud of the final product. I still feel she's way to thick verticaly but that was the only way to ensure structural stability. I am 99% sure this thing will be rock solid in real life and am just waiting for my parts to arrive before building it. I'll make sure to add pictures to this post when i'm done. For reference it cost around $100 to aquire all the parts for this build on BrickLink or around $0.18 per piece (slightly more expensive then an official Lego set). Since I had such a hard time finding instructions I'll post my work in progress and final version LDD files for anyone that wants them. This is how it turned out: 541 Bricks (with stands and no obiwan) More Pictures: http://static.giantbomb.com/uploads/original/14/143284/2486670-venator+top.png http://static.giantbomb.com/uploads/original/14/143284/2486671-venator+side.png http://static.giantbomb.com/uploads/original/14/143284/2486672-venator+front.png http://static.giantbomb.com/uploads/original/14/143284/2486673-venator+back.png http://static.giantbomb.com/uploads/original/14/143284/2486674-venator+bottem.png *edit* I've finally finished building the initial model. There are a few problems however. First of all some of the bricks were incorrectly shipped (some color and a few wrong pieces). The much bigger problem however are a few structural weak spots caused by the types of bricks (60471) I choose to use for the rigging. They lock in nicely but at the wrong angle. Replacing them with the non-locking hinges (60470) should fix this. I also had to take a few pieces out of the trench to get the close seal i'm looking for (LDD isn't perfect/ doesn't actually simulate physics). I'm going to have to rework the bow's trench near the nose of the ship. There are also a few structural weakness on the "wings" that I need to look into. Still; replacing the rigging should solve almost all the problems. On the bright side (aside from some bricks that are the wrong color) she looks pretty much identical to the 3D model. For my first MOC i'm really happy with the results so far and now that I have a physical model I am confident some minor tweaking here and there should make her nice and durable. Surprisingly making a model entirely in LDD wasn't a total disaster, a testament to how far Lego's software has come. I'll post the version that wont fall to pieces at the slightest touch once my new parts arrive in a week or so. Venator Final NOT READY TO BUILD.lxf

    REVIEW: 7140 X-Wing Fighter

In honor of the release of the new UCS X-Wing, it's time to review the classic 7140 X-Wing Fighter! 7140 X-Wing Fighter Pieces: 263 Minifigs: 4 Price: $30 Year of Release: 1999 Description: PART ONE: Box, Parts, and Introduction The box of the set is mid-sized, around the same size of a current $50 set. Maybe a bit taller. I just love the classic LEGO Star Wars emblem and the nice gold font. It's also interesting to note that the 1999 line is the only one to feature the "System" logo. The side has some nice art of Luke, his friends, and some details of the X-Wing itself. The back has a fantastically nostalgic spread of the set being built by the four minifigures and two alternative models. This layout was stopped starting in 2002. Here are some close ups: Once you open up the box, a nice cardboard tray with the contents slides out. And yes. I do keep my minifigures constructed. Removing everything from the box gives you this. It may seem like a big heap of gray, but there are quite a few little gems of pieces contained in this set. There are no stickers in the set, just a large amount of beautifully printed elements. Some useful wings, tubes, interlocking joints, and control panels here. PART TWO: The Instruction Book The instruction book has a lot of great details. First, names under the minifigs. Second, relavent movie stills at the top! Third, the rebel insignia located behind the numbering of the steps! Only the highest quality of photos from montyofmusic, folks. Doesn't make my eyes bleed at all. Nope, mmm, nope. The fourth detail we have here is a comic book. And these can actually be understood unlike some LEGO comics that I know... *cough* *cough* *cough* *cough*. Sorry, it's hard to talk when I'm coughing. I meant LEGO Superheroes comics. Those things are horrible. And this is when we get a glimpse of those nifty alternate builds in action! PART THREE: Minifigures Now that we have all that exposition out of the way, lets continue with some more exposition! Minifigure time! Let's start with the always important Luke Skywalker. Such a classic little figure. Instantly recognizable. Stood the test of time. Brilliant. Next in the lineup is Biggs Darklighter. An odd choice, but a great one especially considering we haven't gotten any representation of him since. The Rebel Mechanic (or Technician). A fine minifigure on its own, but fails on accuracy. Then again, I could be basing it off of the wrong design. And now for R2-D2, everyone's favorite astromech droid (but not mine, R2 is too mainstream for me). The redesign is better, sure, but this version just reeks of amazing. So much so that it took nearly 10 years for the new incarnation to surface. A little bonus picture of the two helmets included. The one on the right is exclusive to this set. PART FOUR: The Build The build starts with the rebel ground vehicle. The main section features the controls and some removable ground equipment that I'll go more in depth in later. The first carriage is seating for the pilots of the Rebel Alliance. The second carriage has all of the tools needed to repair the X-Wing and a gas hose. I'm not sure about the last section, but the first two carts are fairly screen accurate. Right down to the yellow control panel. Good job, LEGO. The build of the main meat of the set, the X-Wing, will be shown in 5 step incraments. Step 5: Step 10: Step 15: Step 20: Step 25: Step 30: Done! Right? Looks like it? Well, no. Just some facetious misdirection by me! Reviewer. Personality. Comedian. Is there anything I can't do? The landing gear is put together in this bizarre page. I've never seen anything like it (except for Harry Potter sets 4721, 4722, and 4723). And... NOW IT'S DONE! Considering it was released in 1999, this baby is really screen accurate. It is on par with the Snowspeeder for being the most accurate set of that year. The printed elements really help this model stand out among the rest. PART FIVE: Features Remember when I said "...removable ground equipment that I'll go more in depth in later"? No? Well I don't read the text on my reviews either. The equipment contained in the first carriage is used as landing guides for the X-Wing. Nifty! The X-Wing itself has a lot of great features and details. First up are the two storage spaces. The second are the details on the wing. Accuracy! Next up is the cockpit. It's nice and spacious, but akwardly shaped to say the least. Luke and Biggs can't reach the control screen in front of them! They have to resort to using the decorated panels on each side. R2-D2 is actually faced the right direction in this incarnation of the X-Wing (unlike the 2012 version). I love this even if there is no protection around poor R2's body. Also note the nice engine printing. The S-Foils lock into attack position with clicking hinges. With the addition of the landing gear, the X-Wing can be in this position even when landed! PART SIX: Final Verdict MINIFIGS-10/10 Luke Skywalker is perfectly recognizable to this day. R2-D2 is fantastic as always. Biggs Darklighter is an unexpected surprise. The Rebel Mechanic, while not film accurate, is perfect for any Rebel base MOC. The only thing that might be lacking is a blaster for Biggs. PARTS-10/10 A miriad of printed elements and basic elements. What I loved about classic LEGO is the restriction on designers to create the sets with useful parts that kids could use to build other creations. What results is a set that is just as much a film accurate X-Wing as a parts pack. DESIGN-10/10 Everything looks and works masterfully. The inclusion of a ground transport makes the set feel very complete. This sense of completion I felt was lacking in the 2012 incarnation, as fantastic as that set was. FEATURES-10/10 Opening wings, detailed cockpit, and storage spaces galore! What more could anyone ask for? SWOOSHABILITY-10/10 I could take off a point for having to painstakingly remove and apply the landing gear, but this set deserves the 10/10 on this one. It's pretty fun to remove this one from the box and swoosh it around. Now imagine that an eight year old kid has this set. The swooshability just goes through the roof. And into the sky. Zooooooooooooooom. FINAL VERDICT-50/50 or... 10/10! This set is perfect. The best of 1999. If you can find it for a good price, it is well worth it. Join me next time for the Cloud City review! I know I promised it last time, but large sets take a long time to build, photograph, and upload, especially a set as hyped as this one. See you guys later!

    Ryloth Refinery Battle

To all my Eurobricks friends, I present my latest Star Wars Clone Wars build. Ryloth Refinery Battle The planet of Ryloth is the scene for a desperate battle between Shaak Ti, Eeth Koth and Commander Gree's clones against the might of the Trade Federation. The refinery must be held lest the planets resources fall into the Separatists hands. This was recently shown at the Sydney Brick Show and took home third prize. I am really dissapointed with the photos yet again but as the MOC is still 2 hours away from home and no idea if it is still in one piece, I decided to share it anyway. Changes will be made to my photography on the next MOC however! Hope you enjoy. 15. Hello there ! I'm a french AFOL since december 2012, living in Belgium. I'm 29 and never played LEGO before because my parents never wanted to buy me sets so I have to make up for lost time. At the beginning I was only interested in the licenced themes like LOTR, The Hobbit, Marvel/DC, Star Wars (only the movies), Sponge Bob, TMNT... but I've been quickly attracted by other themes like Monster Fighter or Modular. I'm my personnal life I'm an IT. I like football (soccer), computing, vidéo games, photography (even if I sucks at it for 4 years) and travels. See ya !

    A Necessary Bond

After the CBSW was announced I was determined to make a decent scene recreation, so then I had a look for reference pictures of some episodes and then came to the conclusion that 'A Necessary Bond' sounded good, despite my recreation being a small one and missing another important figure (Ahsoka) I felt undecided to whether to make a MOC based on this episode but I wanted a decent scene recreation involving Grevious in it, so apologies for missing out Ahsoka in this but here it is! 18. Hello there, I would like to show you my latest MOC. I've built this MOC for the Community Build: SW The Clone Wars. It shows a scene from the first episode of the first season of The Clone Wars. See Wikipedia In this scene you can see Master Yoda fighting desperately with a group of droids. It seems as if the Jedi Master will lose this fight, but the three clone troopers are going to help Master Yoda by shooting at the mountain with a rocket launcher. This will bury the droids under a tons of rubble. You can find all pictures on flickr I hope you enjoy this MOC Best regards konze
