  1. Sphinx Secret Surprise was my favourite childhood LEGO set. It was released Twenty Years ago! I have created a tribute to the main feature of the set, The Great Sphinx. I adored the set, my largest ever single LEGO set as a child and I adored the Adventure theme. Egyptology was one of my real interests when I was a child and I was about the only eight year old who wanted to be an Archaeologist. So, I just had to create a tribute. A MOC that was a representation of the set as I saw it in my minds eye as I played. Deep in the desert many adventurers and archaeologists have descended upon the Great Spinx to seek out treasures and clues to the mysteries they pursue. The front elevation. As with the original set there is a concealed secret... Surprise! The black statue is a the key to a simple mechanism that reveals the Pharaoh on his throne. Pulling the base forward causes the throne platform to move forward and knock down the panel. A view from above. This is one of my larger builds. Only beaten out by my Yellow Castle . The two side views. One features my favourite little capra and the other a statue uncovered in the base of the Sphinx's plinth. Here some tricksy tomb thieves are about to meet a freaky foe! Jake Raines and his friends have made a find and are hoping for more. Meanwhile, Johnny Thunder and Doctor Lightning have been very successful in their dig. Gale Storm is documenting the moment. What a shot! I hope you enjoyed this MOC. I certainly had fun building it and it has gone down very well with LEGO fans young and old alike when I display it. I hope to create versions of the other features of the set on a similar scale to this MOC. I also want to have something of an Adventure layout to display, I'll of course share them here once I make them.
  2. Hello, everyone! After 2 long years of testing the pieces in the LDD and in the ABS, slow international deliveries, lack of opportunity of building due to my intense work routine and creative gaps, I finally have the pleasure to share my last creation with you: The 4 faces of Giza. I am very passionate for ancient civilizations and since I was a Kid I have always wanted to build something that could refer to the ancient Egypt and nothing more appealing to reproduce than the The Great Pyramid at Giza and its iconic Sphinx. This is not new in the Lego world. There are works with similar techniques on layouts full of scenes and miniatures. As the focus has always been the works and not the surroundings, the final visual impact is very beautiful to my eyes and I am pleased with the outcome. This project supposed to be exhibited at the LUG Brasil Expo in 2016, but due to the reasons mentioned above it will only be possible to show this year. I guarantee that seeing it live is even prettier than the pictures. The name MOC is due to 4 different moments in the history: a more remote, at the time of the sphinx inauguration in the presence of the Pharaoh, a past one when the Middle East commercial routes passed through the ancient Egypt, a scenarium which represents the current touristic flow in the surroundings of the pyramid and a fictional future which addresses the theory that this mysterious construction was and will be again, a mean of communication between the human race and the stars beings. Enjoy the pictures! :) The Great Pyramid at Giza and Sphinx 1 by Adolfo, no Flickr The Great Pyramid at Giza and Sphinx 2 by Adolfo, no Flickr The Great Pyramid at Giza and Sphinx 3 by Adolfo, no Flickr The Great Pyramid at Giza and Sphinx 4 by Adolfo, no Flickr The Great Pyramid at Giza and Sphinx 5 by Adolfo, no Flickr The Great Pyramid at Giza and Sphinx 6 by Adolfo, no Flickr The Great Pyramid at Giza and Sphinx 7 by Adolfo, no Flickr [/quote]
  3. As you escape from the dragon's onslaught, you find a mysterious device in the hills. It responds to your commands by moving around with gusto. With it, you hope to defeat the scourge that raised your village. However, to fight this fiend, you must trek across the lands, and the lands are filled with monsters. Monsters: A hydra in the swamp A nuckelavee in the waters. For those who don't know, a nuckelavee is a water spirit in the shape of a horse with a rider that spends most of its time as an intangible presence in the water. A manticore waiting for the right time to strike along the path A swooping cockatrice attacking from the skies A salamander in its slimey den A sphinx guarding the bridge A dragon surrounded by the burning forest Special features include an alternate path with special point spots, monster body parts that can be moved to block off paths (the hydra heads, the nuckelavee's horse head, the manticore's tail and the cockatrice's wings) and a swiping dragon's paw which can knock the ball right into one of the lava pits. Top view. The green spot is the starting point, the dragon's maw is the end and the yellow spots are optional bonus points. Yes, I checked, the dragon's wings fit in the maze. From this view, you can see the difficulties involved in choosing the bonus point route a bit better; amongst other things, you have to get out of the ditch formed by the salamander. I made various digital stickers for this project; the cockatrice's, the manticore, the nuckelavee and the sphinx's heads and the brick path. All in all, it was a lot of fun making this, and I hope you guys like it! Comments and criticism appreciated.
