  1. Well, as I have many Duplos at home (I got a 2 yo kid which is a Lego enthusiast), when I want to "physically" build something, I use those, instead of LDD. Of course, the size and colors of the bricks tend to limit the results, but Duplo can also be useful to build something nice. These are starships I made for my little kid, and he enjoyed playing with them at least as much as I enjoyed building them (and it was much!). Frigate Cruiser Carrier/Battleship Does anyone else build something with Duplos for their toddlers?
  2. This is my Microscale World behind glass. I always build my MOCs so that you have to study it for a while. It can be whatever you want it to be. Use your imagineation! I did! I took me ~2 weeks to finish. I really have to buy a new camera tho... If you liked this MOC, check out my other ones! * Instagram * Flickr * Reddit
  3. So I hope this is not an entry that anybody else took before I do now! If so please don't blame me too much, but I couldn't find any entry in this forum concerning this topic! So what I wanna do here is the following: As a beginner it is very hard to start a collection! Many questions have to be answered! This topic should help anyone who is interested in building his own creation out of LEGO and needs some advice which bricks and wich colors of bricks he should own before getting started. From my point of view it is important to have a wide range of different bricks in different colors before starting to build his/ her MOC. Because otherwise you won't be able to be as creative as possible. After reading the last sentence, everyone should shout out: You are silly! That's a lot of money to spend before I can get started! Exactly that's what this entry tries to figure out: Which parts do I need to get started as soon as possible! And here I need your help! Please post in this thread which parts you think someone at least needs to get started building a castle for example. Or if you are interested in the space theme and/ or already built something - then you have the experience others do not have, and here is the place where you can share! What is needed: First you should post what can be built out of the bricks you post. e.g.: Architecture, Castle, Forest, ... Second, give a short overview which colors you needed to build your creation. e.g.: for a castle you need dark bluish gray, light bluish gray, black, reddish brown, ... Third, are there any kinds of bricks that been needed especially to build a great MOC. e.g.: for a castle you surely need these bricks: 98283.jpg and/ or 60808.jpg From my point of view the quantity of parts is not needed - everyone should make his own decision how many of a kind he/ she want to own. Finally I will sum up all your posts in this post, so everyone has a quick overview what the community came up with! I give you an example: To build a realistic Forest you need the following: Colors: Plenty of dark green, bright green, green, olive green, black, reddish brown, dark reddish brown Kinds of bricks: These parts you should not miss in your collection: 2417.jpg, 2423.jpg, 30093.gif, 55236.gif If there are any other colors or bricks you use when creating a realistic forest please post it and I will add them in my post. So I am looking forward to read your suggestions and of course if this topic make sense! I will accept any feedback from you! If you say, no we do not need this stuff or you know where I can find something similar in the www please post it!

    Exosuit MG 2.0

Sadly, because I increased the legs from 3L to 4L for the liftarms on the thighs, I cannot enter the Exo Suit competition. Too bad, I think this would have been a good entry. Because I cannot enter it, I am posting it here. I have seen a lot of good renditions of the suit, but to be honest, I thought people would be modding this more! Such a fun build. If the rules change, and this is later allowed to be submitted for the contest, please let me know! Thanks! I apologize for just posting my MOC pages. For some reason I cannot upload my pics. Says I have exceeded my disk space. My photos are only 50-70 kb, so I know this cannot be the case. If anyone has some suggestions or recommendations, let me know. However, pics can be founf on my MOC pages. http://mocpages.com/moc.php/396276
  5. Hey SteamWars-friends This is my interpretation of how the iconic Starfighter of Obi Wan might have looked in the Victorian Ages. Entry for the SteamWars-Madness on FBTB in the semifinals against Markus. And in addition i build a fitting HyperSteam-Ring for faster travelling through the SteamWars-Univsers: More photos can be be found here. All my SteamWars build will also be displayed in Skaerbaek. Probably the only chance to see them in "real". Good luck to Markus and thanks for stopping by. Best regards Jonas
  6. Last week I've made the Tracked Crystal Digger. It's a concept for the Rock Raiders 2 game. The Tracked Crystal Digger is a compact mining vehicle with several mining tools: -Drill -Mining laser -Radar -Two ground scanners for searching energy crystals And the tracks makes this vehicle suitable for rugged terrain. [MOC][Ideas] Classic Space Speeders

EDIT: PROJECT IS LIVE! Hello everyone! I'd like to present my MOC/LEGO Ideas project. It all started off as a Speeder I was trying to build in LDD with the new ball joints, I made it Ice Planet 2002 colors. I wasn't thinking I'd want to turn it into an Ideas project until AFTER I had made an Ice Planet 2002, Blacktron II, and Rock Raiders speeders. After that I had changed it up a lot into Ice Planet 2002, Blacktron I, and M-Tron. Then, I understood that these all racing against eachother would be cool. After MONTHS of trial and error I finally gave up... Until yesterday. I had decided that some obstacles weren't the best idea so this was born. After this was all made I was pretty satisfied! I had added all I wanted to and was proud of it. Now, do you all like it? I hope you do, because I know those robots are pretty excited! (Transparents aren't working too swell ) Please SUPPORT here: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/77217 Thanks for reading and looking! I hope you enjoy these as much as I do! - NuffSaid1996
  9. The Assassin Bug (a.k.a. Wheel Bug) most commonly have an elongated head with a distinct narrowed neck, long legs, and a prominent, segmented tube (rostrum) for feeding and defending itself. These predators use the long rostrum to inject a lethal saliva that liquefies the insides of the prey, which are then sucked out. The saliva contains enzymes that predigest the tissues they swallow. This process is generally referred to as extra-oral digestion. The saliva is commonly effective at killing prey substantially larger than the bug itself. Galaxy Squad Assassin Bug Inspiration by mink66, on Flickr This is a nasty bug! And the perfect model for another Lego Galaxy Squad Alien Bugoid creation! A powerful Bug that strikes absolute fear into any Galaxy Squad Team member especially if caught alone out on the battle field. The Assassin Bug can make a quick meal out of any unsuspecting human, or store it in its purplue coccoon for later consumption or to bring back to the hive. Good luck humans...they will need it! 11. (Since this is my first review on this site, please excuse any shortcomings, omission of valuable information and inclusion of superfluous information - comments and feedback are welcome). 7471 Mars Exploration Rover Review - Technic in all but its name Model Number: 7471 Name: Mars Exploration Rover Theme: Discovery Year: 2003 Number of pieces: 870 Full sized photos available at https://www.flickr.c...57645937216192/ There didn't seem to be any review of this set on this site, so I decided to add my own. Overall, this was an enjoyable build and I would recommend it highly to any Technic collector who is looking for something beyond the usual. It is important to note that this set is not a Technic set, but was part of the "Discovery" theme in 2003. This theme was quite short lived and featured 6 sets of varying sizes and complexity. The mars rover is the only one in the series that is a Technic style build. In fact, this is the most "Technicy" non-Technic set I have yet encountered. Among the Discovery theme, this set is also has the highest parts count (870). Since the set is quite old, it may be difficult to obtain or may command a high price depending on where you live. However, it seems to be the least rare one out of the Discovery series. Functions: There are two knobs on the top of the set - one for rotating the antenna, and another for steering. The steering mechanism is quite interesting in that the outer four wheels are steered using a combination of push-rods and the "flex" system. The design of the steering system is quite impressive. On the back, there are two knobs - one for rotating the camera, and one for extending the robotic arm. Additionally, the camera can be extended and retracted using a dampened spring (the same ones used for the doors on the 8448 super car). The solar panels can be folded up and released with another dampened spring (see pictures). For some reason, the folded up configuration didn't seem to be very stable (any minor perturbation caused them to extend), however, that could be due to the way I built it. Pictures: Instruction booklet: In addition to the instructions, there is also an informational booklet with various facts about the real rover: Various parts: Partial progress: About half-way: Fully constructed, but before solar panels: With solar panels: Panels folded up: Things I liked: Novelty: It was very refreshing to build a Technic set that does not fall into a typical category (car, truck, construction vehicle, plane/helicopter). It would be great if Lego would produce more sets like this, rather than producing n-th iterations of the usual vehicles. I suspect that most people on this forum would also appreciate this. Another novel aspect of this set was the color palette. Again, it was nice to build something that was not yellow or red. The set consisted mainly of light grey, dark grey and tan pieces. However, this choice (namely lots of grey) also has some disadvantages which will be discussed later. Complexity: For a non-Technic set, I was really impressed with the functionality of this set. It is evident that the designers put a lot of effort into making it. It isn't revolutionary, but given its part count I think they pack a lot in. Things I didn't like: Although I liked the non-traditional color choices, at times it was difficult to distinguish between the different shades of grey in the instructions (mixing up white and light grey, light grey and dark grey, dark grey and black). Occasionally I would have to go back a step since I realized that I used the wrong color. Summary: If you are looking for a medium-large Technic set off the beaten track, check it out. Among the Discovery sets, this one seems to be the one that is most readily available. I really hope that in the future Lego will introduce more Technic sets like this (non-traditional vehicles/machines and in non-traditional colors). This is a fantastic example of what the possibilities are when they step outside the realm of the zillionth car / truck / construction machine. Out of curiosity, if anyone knows other "Technic-style" sets that are not part of the Technic theme (like this one), please share.

    Hello! I'm Jack!

Hello! I'm 18 and from the United States. I've been a lurker on this site for several years and finally made an account. My favorite lego themes are Space/Sci-Fi and Action. I'm not a great designer/MOCer, but I do love to collect and modify existing sets. I run weekly Brikwars games with my friends, where we've got an ongoing space opera type thing happening, so I may post about that if it's allowed!

    [MOC] Mineral Detector V2

The 6841 Mineral Detector was always a favourite set of mine for showcasing the "exploration" side of space. I love the idea of searching new worlds for resources and felt this little guy needed an update. In the spirit of the original I present the neo-classic LL-6841 Mineral Detector V2. I hope you like it - comments / feedback appreciated! The original inspiration:

    [MOC] Vampyre Squadron

(Click the image to find this project on Lego Ideas) Well I finally got it approved, this is my Vampyre Squadron MOC It consists of five vessels, two fighters, a gunship, a tank, and a missile boat. I based the design on an earlier MOC that I came up with, an Imperial Ice Speeder, but as I know that Star Wars MOCs are very unlikely to succeed on Lego Ideas, I revamped (arf :D ) the design and eventually came up with these five. The Gunship The Strike Fighter The Naval Fighter The Missile Boat The Tank I did also make a sixth model, but as it's blatantly Star Wars based I had to exclude it from the final collection. It's a shame really as out of all the ships, it's by far my favourite. The Interceptor These ships are now listed on the Lego Ideas site, and any support would be greatly appreciated. Now, Lego didn't like me including this image, and I had to remove it before I could get my submission accepted, but I think it looks pretty cool, and I put a fair bit of work in to it :D. I know it's a bit cheeky posting this to try to gather some support, but as no-one that I know is in to Lego (just me) I don't really have any other means of spreading the word. Either way, opinions are welcome :).
  18. For a while, I have been wishing to start work on a space fleet of my own. Exactly what to work on was a rather tricky question, as one week I might be wanting to focus on one faction, only to change the next week to a completely different one. Then, I saw a forum member's signature, which, on one side, had an array of a overhead view of all of his neo-classic ships, and that, combined with the up-coming release of the Exo-Suit, made me realize that the best starting place, was where the entire theme had begun - with classic space. But what to build? I wanted something that was not too impressive, or parts heavy, but had at a sizable cockpit and was at least of medium size. After a bit of thinking, I remembered the 7315: Solar Explorer, and I had my project. I took the model, built it in LDD, and then carefully read through the instructions to the 487, the 497, and the 918, analyzing the building color styles of the three. I then took the model, and began to take it apart, piece by piece, and recolor it in the same way that it would have been colored if it had been made back in the 70's, leaving only the instruments, printed tiles, and cockpit the same. This was the end result. Known problems: It's missing the plastic covering, the left laser is not positioned properly due to LDD restraints, and although the colors are right, the printings are all wrong. Also, the 6219 is in Old Grey, not Blue Light Grey, as it was never released in that color - the same issue is present with 3085px2 not being Trans-Yellow. I am hoping to slowly build this over time, and was posting it here for critique from the experts, and, hopefully, someday I'll be able to post real-world building updates from time to time. Comments and thoughts always welcome . LFX file: Brickshelf folder
  19. Today, I'm presenting a 24x12 studs space vignette titled Spaceship Prison Block Nr. 3. It started out mainly as an exercise in building a wall at an angle and incorporating some curved pieces. It depicts a guard patrolling part of a spaceship's prison block, where one of the Galactic Intelligence Agency's spies is currently incarcerated. Full vignette: Spaceship Prison Block #1 by M1kroMan, on Flickr Prison area designation on the floor: Spaceship Prison Block #2 by M1kroMan, on Flickr Closer look at the cells: Spaceship Prison Block #1 by M1kroMan, on Flickr C&C welcome!
  20. This is work in progress topic for my possible entry: Technic remake of the classic 6989 Mega Core Magnetizer. At the moment part count is 222. Functions: 3 levers on rear which fully control crane arm. Crane pan left/right Crane tilt up/down Crane zoom forward/backward Simple steering Openable cabin For now I am not satisfied how the cabin window looks. This is the hardest part to mimic because the original Magnetizer has the iconic trans neon yellow cabin window. Original Magnetizer for reference :)
