  1. I am a Linux user(mainly Ubuntu) and I am not planning on moving to windows. So basically I am searching for a moc designer tool that runs on Linux(preferably Ubuntu). Thank you in advance.
  2. Hi everybody:Over the Holidays, we played around with our new LEGO 'The Beatles' Art Set. We wanted to use it to build our own mosaics. After trying some available resources for mosaic making, I ended whipping up something new that specialises on the limitations of the Lego Art sets. Click here to try.It is different from all the other lego mosaic makers out there along two dimensions: It has a conversion function that optimises the automated conversion subject to the limited tile sets of the different LEGO Art sets. While it cannot do wonders on images that use a very different color space it does a reasonable job on most images. It allows manual editing of the (converted) mosaic wile keeping track of the tile count. In addition, It offers building instructions for download that help to convert the converted mosaic to the real thing. I am posting this here in case anybody finds it useful for their own projects.   3. A new video has been uploaded to our Youtube channel. In 2019, lots of new elements have been added to our layout. To name a few: the warehouse, able to store 60 containers with candies, with two independent stacker cranes, the four candy circles, and an updated delivery station. Also brand new is the PC software that connects everything. We have worked hard to get the software working stable and with success. You can see the result in the video. Enjoy the video! -- Hans

Hi, wanted to share this little gem we put together: https://beta.makerbrane.com/tools/ldraw-viewer/ It opens .ldr, .mpd, .dat into an online 3D viewer, you can then change the background color and angle and export snapshots. It also converts the file into MakerBrane format, and opens it in another viewer with a different rendering style. It can also open in the 3D MakerSpace which is like LDD or mecabricks but more of a Universal Digital Builder because it has parts from other systems as well - but it you can't edit everything because not all the LEGO parts have been fully referenced yet for auto-snapping yet. Promising though, right? If you try it, post a screenshot here and let me know if there are any features we should add.

  6. Hi guys, I'm Matteo, I love LEGO since I was a kid and I actually have more Lego sets that my apartment can fit! Lego has been a big part of my life so I thougth to join my passion with my job and created a small start-up called freeNdie Software with other friends who share the same love we all have for LEGO. We are indie Android developers and our first app is "News for LEGO® fans"! The app feature a slick material design and multi-threding to download news super-fast. News for LEGO® fans gathers news and curiosity about LEGO and provides some nice features like searching, offline reading and mark news as starred.   7. Hello! In this topic I want share with you my experience on creating LEGO animation in Blender. Here is a LEGO movie I've created: Blender is a professional, free and open-source 3D computer graphics software toolset used for creating animated films, visual effects, art, 3D printed models, interactive 3D applications and video games. Software that I used to make this animation: LEGO Digital Designer Blender Sony Vegas STEP 1 First of all, I built all needed models in LEGO Digital Designer. STEP 2 I opened all models in Blender and created an animation. Then I rendered all scenes. STEP 3 All video files were ready, and the only thing I needed to do was to edit them in Sony Vegas. That was my first LEGO movie made in Blender. It took near 2 months to create it. Do you like it?
  8. Since 2011, our large fully automated train layout will be displayed at Lego World 2017. In several subtopics, you could have read about the building of the delta crane, the train controlled by a Mindstorms EV3 and much more. A video of our layout in 2016 has been watched almost 30.000 times. For 2017, the train layout consists of 12 Mindstorms EV3 bricks and 1 Mindstorms NXT: 1x Train (EV3) 1x Delta Crane (EV3) 1x Wheel of Fortune (EV3) 1x Ticket Dispenser (EV3) 4x Delivery station (EV3) 1x Ticket reader (EV3) 1x Delta crane (EV3) 2x Container and Candy dispenser (EV3) 1x Air compressor (NXT) All the EV3 bricks are controlled by a Microsoft .NET application, written in C#. I am not very good at graphic design so I need something simple that creates realistic images on default mode (or with minimal adjustment).   12. Hello everyone, This is an old topic but I need your help. I acquired the set 9731 LM Vision Command without the original software but I have already found the version for Windows 98. Now i'm searching for the English version for WinXP and I can't found nowhere. At BrickLink, only other languages are on sale for WinXP :( Can someone share the installation CD in English of LEGO Mindstorms Vision Command for WinXP or where can I download the software in English?? Any help appreciated...
  13. I'am looking for an instruction creator that works good with LDD. I'am trying it with blueprint, works great with LDD but big moc's are hard to manage.   14. Hi guys, i'm here because i found an issue in some pieces present in the lego digital designer palette. Some pieces have non uniform measures and this imply that these pieces cannot be correctly mounted upside-down. Note that in the real pieces these problems don't occour. In the first image the distance between green and red pieces should have been of 1/6 of lego units, that corresponds to the distance indicated by the grey piece. But, as you can see, this distance is slightly less and this doesn't allow to create a perfect match between upper and lower pieces. In the second image the height of the red and green pieces should be the same but in LLD they differ slightly, as you can see from the small step between the upper surfaces of both red and green pieces. I don't know why LDD presents this error, but it affects a lot the techniques we can use while creating a model. If someone can help me find a solution i would be so thankful. Luca

It has a track planner for train and monorail layouts and has the first elements of the automation simulation: track switches, traffic lights and sound effects.   16. Greetings, LPub3D 2.0.13 is released. You can download from sourceforge.net or check for updates in your existing installation. Interesting fixes are the ability to switch part occurrence (times used) in the PLI between per step and per submodel on called out and submodel pages; the ability to insert one-to-many non-faded models (e.g. with alternate attachments/views etc...) when fade step is on; and new meta for pages size including the standard identifier - e.g. A4, Letter, Legal etc... and print/export performance improvements. LPub3D 2.0.13.834.2 Features and enhancements ------------ Fix: Logging options added to Preferences (r832) * Select logged attributes and logging levels. Fix: Prompt search directory settings reset (r831) * Prompt to inform that the search directories have been reset after the search directory reset button is clicked. Restarting LPub3D is not required. Also changed menu items "Reset 3D Viewer Model Cache" to "Change Temp File Cache" and "Reset Image and Model Caches" to "Reset All Caches". Fix: Inconsistency between part counts in submodels and part counts in call-outs where multiple instances are involved (r829) * For submodels, the PLI part counts reflect only one instance of the submodel, even if multiple instances are used in the same step. The instance count is correct, and the BOM has the correct total number of parts. With this update, sub-model pages displaying instance count now have a context menu option to display parts per step/page or not (total parts consumed by the number of instances indicated. Previously, for callouts, you have the options (see context menu) to display parts list per callout (one instance) or not. When you select no parts list per callout, the PLI will show all the parts consumed by the total number of instances in the callout. If you choose parts list per callout, the PLI is moved to the callout and only the parts for a single occurrence of the callout is shown. The idea here is if you have 5 occurrences of the called out assembly, you'll need 5x the parts total, but only 1x parts are shown to indicate what you need to build an instance of the called out assembly. On sub-model pages displaying the instance count, there is only one behaviour for PLI counts (the most intuitive) which is to display the parts list per step. This is intuitive because the primary role of the PLI is to show what you'll need to build an occurrence of the step shown - it is not the intention to mimic the BoM. Nevertheless, I added a context menu item to not display parts list per step and instead display total parts consumed by the number of occurrences of the submodel in the parent submodel/step. Fix: Page size and orientation processing update (r826/833) * Further industrialization of the print/export module. This update streamlines the process and realizes some performance gains. There are some key changes. Notably, page orientation and page size are now mutually exclusive. This means when switching from Portrait to Landscape, accompanying the orientation meta with a transposed page size meta no longer required or managed. Here is an illustration: Previous behaviour when editing a page size change required the following meta commands: 0 STEP 0 LPUB PAGE ORIENTATION LOCAL LANDSCAPE 0 LPUB PAGE SIZE LOCAL 11.0000 8.5000 Note that the page width and height have been transposed. Going forward, transposition of the page width and height when switching from Portrait to Landscape is automatically managed by LPub3D. NOTE: This update is NOT backward compatable. An accompanying transposed page size meta to indicate the switch from portrait to landscape as shown above will be treated as a new page size meta for that page. Consequently, using this meta to 'switch' orientation will actually result in NOT switching the orientation as LPub3D will automatically switch again the switched page size meta. If the user is only interested in changing the orientation, the proper meta command going forward will be: 0 STEP 0 LPUB PAGE ORIENTATION LOCAL LANDSCAPE To help with accurately displaying the page size identifier in the setup and context menus, the standard page identifier is now appended to the page size meta command. For example: 0 LPUB PAGE SIZE 8.5000 14.0000 Legal 0 LPUB PAGE SIZE LOCAL 8.5000 11.0000 Letter 0 LPUB PAGE SIZE LOCAL 5.8000 8.3000 A5 0 LPUB PAGE SIZE LOCAL 5.8678 8.3456 Custom Along with the width and height values, if the page size is non-standard, the identifier "Custom" will be automatically used. Additionally if an identifier is not present, the identifier "Custom" will automatically used. The page identifier is displayed in the Page Setup dialogue and Size/Orientation change context menu dialogue. Also, the LPub3D print/export function no longer needs to parse the model file to capture, in advance, page sizes. This capture is performed during the existing page parse and load functions and is exposed to the print routines during printing/exporting. This change was necessary to better enable mixed-size page export/printing where it is necessary to 'look ahead' to get the next page's size and orientation parameters in order to configure the printer engine before processing the page. Fix: Expand INSERT MODEL meta command behaviour (r825) * When using part fading LPUb3D will now process multiple INSERT MODEL commands rendering the CSI content at each command. For example, if the instruction document includes different model attachments, the editor can now include a non-faded image of the entire model with each attachment. Here is an example of he proper command sequence when used in conjunction with BUFEXCHG: 0 BUFEXCHG B STORE 0 //... default model content... 0 STEP 0 BUFEXCHG B RETRIEVE 0 BUFEXCHG A STORE 1 0 445 -46 -10 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 attachment1.ldr 0 STEP 0 LPUB INSERT MODEL 0 LPUB INSERT PAGE 0 STEP 0 BUFEXCHG A RETRIEVE 1 0 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 attachment2.ldr 0 //STEP These last 3 lines are optional when editing the model file. 0 //LPUB INSERT MODEL If they don't exist and fade step is ON, they will be automatically created by LPub3D 0 //LPUB INSERT PAGE Fix: The PNG output of a model with various page orientations is not correct (r824) * Cleared page buffer before rendering each page.   17. After a lot of work I'm happy to present you: LEGO Part Manager - Version 1.0 This program helps you managing your currently displayed models and your other "ready to build" parts. It's able to calculate, which of your parts can be used in new builds. Description / How to use it If you start the program for the first time it will show you kind of a login page. There you need to enter your Rebrickable API Key (Go to your profile page, click settings and get your API Key) and User Hash, which you can generate here. After pressing the "Connect" button you can see all your set lists and part lists. All pre-selected lists are used in your normal Rebrickable build calculations. When clicking the "Download selected" button the program starts downloading all the selected items. This may take a while and in the mean time the program does not react fast, because it is busy... (Should change with the next versions.. ). When the download is complete, you can input all your displayed Sets / MOCs on the display tab. Please use the same MOC number as on Rebrickable, otherwise the program can't find the MOC. Take an example from the image and screenshot below... After downloading the sets, it will also show up the names. Now you can go to the build tap, where you can input the Set / MOC you want to build. After pressing "Calculate", it could look like so, then you have all the needed parts in your parts collection. If you are missing some parts, it looks similar to that. The file "NeededParts.csv" could be upload to Rebrickable as a private MOC, in order to see the part images or whatever... Current version: 1.0 - from 18.09.2016 (See change log below) Download program (.exe) here. Take a look into the source code here. You can compile your own version of this program on any operating system (Linux, Mac) since it's written completely in Pascal. Features Imports set lists and part list from your Rebrickable account Build calculations only with unused parts Change the display / set lists always possible Uses the Rebrickable .csv format for further use of the file It's Open Source Limitations / Bugs No name based search, you need to input the correct set / MOC number GUI needs some updates... Works only with the Rebrickable API, no other part sources... Also need to add more comments in the source code Changelog Version 1.0 - 18.09.2016 Initial release I hope that at least a few people are going to use this program and providing ideas for further improvement. Hey guys What about pinning a new topic called, for example, "Software links" where would only be a long list of all software that ppl posted here in this section so one can find them all quite easily (+ it would be locked so ppl would not be tempted leaving some kind of messages - it would be just a clear shortcut to posts of those sw form this forum section) - what do you think, hm? Also there would only be sw name, short one sentence description and link to its topic here on BR forum - It could look for example somehow like this: Reason: For example, lately I was searching for a sw that exports LDD model bricks into a file that can be uploaded to Bricklink creating new favorite entry in my profile - I remember I saw it here once but I forget its name, author, everything about that sw - now if we had such topic as I suggested it would be nothing easier than open that locked pinned topic and find my sw I am looking for!
  19. Hi, I'm new to these forums, and new to Lego mindstorms. I'm finding the PC software to be *really* slow. It takes a second or two to respond to mouseclicks, and dragging bricks around on screen is a pain because it lags so much. I have a fairly powerful laptop with an intel core i7, 8GB, 64bit Windows 10, Nvdia Geforce graphics. Everything else flies on this PC Is the software just really slow, or is there some configuration I can do?

  21. Background With some colleagues of mine, I am working on a fully automated train layout. You can read more about this at our blog: siouxnetontrack.wordpress.com. The layout is always demonstrated on Lego World in Utrecht. We gave a demo at another event, as can be seen on the following Youtube video. One of the items I have been working on, is the Candy Rotation Stock. I made a working version, as can be seen on the next video: Redesign of the Candy Rotation Stock After building the final version of the Candy Rotation Stock, I transported the object to our office to integrate it with the other parts of the track. I found out that the CRS was not robust enough and it took some time before it worked again. Although the concept works, it was not good enough to run for a couple of minutes without problems. And I needed it to work for four days at Lego World! So I took the difficult decision to redesign it. In this thread you can follow the progress. The redesign will be based on the conveyor belt that I found on Youtube (user ssugawara1955): And this is my proof of concept: I have ordered some extra parts to make a complete square and two switch points: one switch point that will lead to the Crane Pickup location and one switch point where new containers can be inserted to the rotation stock.   22. In LDD, is it possible to export to DXF or another similar format (DWG)? I have a copy of Vectorworks renderworks, and would like to be able to render LDD models in that way.
  23. I made a similar post earlier today in the LDD/LDraw forum, and got some good responses, but am afraid I am missing the most important input from Technic builders. I have not used software in the past, and am wondering if I am missing an important part of building. I think I can add to my builds if I attempt using software, and therefore I would like to get others opinions in what they like best. I don't really work alot in anything else but Technic.... so, other people out there, what are your preferences? I gather that LDD and LDraw are the most commonly used, but I know there is MCAD and others. What are people's preferences?
  24. Hello there, lately i've been working on a software for creating good looking building instructions for LDD models, that is called Blueprint. The program is in a very alpha stage, but some basic functionality is somehow there. I'd like to test it on some different graphic hardware to see if it runs. Is there anybody kind enought to donate some time? Must have some minimal tech skill, like knowing what a stacktrace is, using the command line, configuring java versions etc. and some patience.   25. Now that ME Models is shipping its much anticipated alternative Lego train track components, I really wanted to see what sort of layouts could be built with these elements. Many of us use the superb BlueBrick software tool for designing layouts both for individual and collaborative use. BlueBrick does not have library support for ME track components and therefore, I decided to make a custom library add-on for BlueBrick to include ME track. I have created two BlueBrick compatible libraries to assist with train layout planning by expanding the range of elements available for design. ME Models Track Components - This can be used as an expansion pack for the existing BlueBrick Track parts library. Simply extract the downloaded archive into the pre-existing \parts\Track folder. Complete LEGO® Train System Schematic Elements - This is completely new library developed specifically for symbolic or schematic track planning. It is a complete library including track elements from LEGO®, ME-Models, as well as custom track elements such as stub-switches and crossovers.
