  1. [Digital Render] Mining Barge (Starmancer) by Artemiy Karpinskiy, on Flickr Here’s something fresh. This is a fan-art of the mining barge from the currently-in-development indie space colony/station simulator game Starmancer (you can follow its development on their Tumblr blog) made in a gorgeous isometric pixel-art style. Here's a mandatory rotational GIF: Here's the source material created by one of the Game Devs:
  2. Hello to everyone! This is my first topic in this forum, and I am glad to present you my first and biggest project on which I have been working for the last 6 years. It is the "Destiny" Starship, from the Stargate Universe (SGU) series of SyFy. It is a series that was based in the original Stargate movie of 1994, and continues the story of the two previous series, that followed the original movie (Stargate SG-1 and Stargate: Atlantis). To begin with, and before the photos of my version, I would like to appose some photos of Destiny from the TV series; Original Destiny - Front View by George Patelis, on Flickr Original Destiny - Side View by George Patelis, on Flickr Below, you can see photos of my version of Destiny, for the implementation of which, valuable assistance was offered by the printings of Martin Steil, that were made in 2011. 1 - Top View by George Patelis, on Flickr 2 - View from Bottom by George Patelis, on Flickr 3 - Horizontal View by George Patelis, on Flickr Destiny, at its current form, consists of about 29,000 pieces, the majority of which are Technic Bricks, Technic Pins, and Slopes. Its dimentions, when it is placed horizontally, are 2,20m long, 1,75m wide, around 75cm high, and its weight exceeds 30Kg. Of course, due to its size, its weight, appears to be larger. From the design stage until the completion of its construction, it took me about six years. Of course, during that time there was a break of about a year due to some obligations, and also due to lack of funds, since the cost only for the building material exceeded the amount of € 2,000, without the inclusion of the transportation costs from America and Europe. Below, you can see more detailed photos; 4 - Top View from Front by George Patelis, on Flickr 5 - Botom View from Front by George Patelis, on Flickr 12 - Closer Look of the Cockpit Tower by George Patelis, on Flickr 14 - Side View of the Tail by George Patelis, on Flickr 16 - Detailed Side View by George Patelis, on Flickr 18 - View of the Main Starship by George Patelis, on Flickr You can find more photos of the completed project and from the construction stage at my FlickR, and in the original post that was made for thebrick.gr. I hope you like it! Any comments are welcome!

    PM2X Explorer

My first entry for the Color It Blacktron Contest over on Flickr. The idea is to make any build you want, whether that be in Castle, Pirates, Space, Town, etc. but build it using Blacktron colors. This was quite enjoyable to make, and started with the cockpit, when I realized the tracks would hold them together pretty well. It took a little patience to get the driver/controls in, but I like how it turned out. More pictures on Brickbuilt Thanks for looking, C&C welcome

    XB982 Astroship

Hi ! I am not only an AFOL, I am also a big fan of Valerian and Laureline. I have all their comics. They were sources of inspiration for the Star Wars saga and the 5th element. In this comic, I love the spatiotemporal vessel, the XB982, also called Tempus Fugit in the animated series. So I could not resist trying to replicate this ship at the LEGO Minifig scale. In comics, it undergoes multiple changes over the albums, and this achievement is therefore a pure interpretation on my part. At the landing, the XB982 deploys 4 feet and Valerian and Laureline down through the hatch in the cabin. The interior of the vessel is accessed by opening the upper parts : The interior is made up of 6 modules, connected by Y-shaped corridors : - the cockpit at the front - the space-time engine in the rear and sides: - a dining room - a medical center - a bedroom - a room with a shower Hope you enjoy it! And optionally you can support it on https://ideas.lego.com/projects/133328
  6. S.H.A.D.O. maintenance bay With a large fleet of spaceships and many ground units like the APC mobile, the S.H.A.D.O.* agency needs a modern and well equipped bay. My latest build is the S.H.A.D.O. maintenance bay where the agency's mechanics and engineers can fix and re-fit the Interceptors and possibly the ground units. The facility is full of details and it features also a service vehicle, a forklift and an hand pallet truck. Under the wing an operator is welding a support and please take a look at the sparks A little workbench and the column drill press are positioned on the right. A spare nuclear missile is ready to be loaded. Flickr gallery. Thanks for stopping by. *SHADO (an acronym for Supreme Headquarters, Alien Defence Organisation) is a secret, high-technology international agency established to defend Earth and humanity against the mysterious aliens. SHADO was the main subject of UFO, the popular '70 British television science fiction series about an alien invasion of Earth.

    [MOC] Nexo Space

Hi all, Thought I'd share my "Nexo Space" scene. I built it a couple of months ago for New Elementary's ongoing "Nexogon" parts festival. True or not, I'd read news that the 'Lego Movie Sequel' was going to be set in space... I surmised that this would therefore be Benny's Space, Classic Space the joyous 'space' of my childhood. The Hab/Lab/Base was a structure I'd adapted from a set of spaceships I'd built as my first submission. I was way too late for Febrovery, but what kind of space scene would it be without a rover of some sort? ...and then there was the question of Benny. He'd need a spaceship! I really do hope that 'The Lego Movie Sequel' is going to be set in Benny's Space, and that the sets include more Classic Space inspired designs for vehicles... new printed classic space logos and trans yellow windscreens please! Also, New Spacemen minifigures in other colours!
  8. This is a fictional space-themed LEGO shopping mall complex named "The Spaceship" due to the shape of main building resembling a spaceship. If that naming idea had come sooner I would probably have designed something that actually looked more like a spaceship, but the idea only came to me more than halfway through the project when I saw what shape the building was taking so I just used the idea to name and style numerous parts of the model. The model uses approx. 175000 parts and 258 custom sticker designs and measures 3810mm x 3493mm x 519mm (13.3m² footprint). It features 30 shops, 218 car parking spaces, 500 minifigs, bank, post office, library, cinema, amusements, restaurant, foodcourt, admin/security office, service access, maintenance areas, escalators, functional elevators, toilets, ice rink, gymnasium, boating pond, custom brick-built road layout, and real LEGO lighting in most of the main building and ice rink. The design attempts to be as functional as possible by providing convenient car access, separate rear public transport access, and separate rear service vehicle access to all shops on the first two levels, as well as multiple entrances and fire exits. It also attempts to be wheelchair/buggy friendly as much as possible using a mixture of stairs, escalators, ramps and a glass elevator. The main glass roof can be removed in two halves, as can the roofs of the gym, the wing shops, and the rear section, the latter of which reveals the battery packs for the LEGO lighting. There's also manual cable winders on both the customer and service elevators. I managed to get the water tank in too but had to forego the boiler room - despite the size of the build I found myself running out of space. The massive size of the model caused numerous problems, especially due to buggy software and PC limitations, so I had to reduce the intended length of the mall and forego a few other features too, but it's still by far the biggest model I've built. It probably should have taken around 6 to 9 months to complete, but due to personal and technical issues it ended up taking more than 2 years. This virtual LDraw model was built using MLCad software and rendered with LDView (sadly it's too big to render with POV-Ray), with additional construction, graphic and animation support via the use of PHP, LDraw Sticker Generator, LDraw txt2dat, LDraw LSynth, ImageMagick, Paint Shop Pro, GIF Movie Gear, IrfanView, PNGOUT, AviSynth, VirtualDub, and ffmpeg. Even had to use Excel to write macros to compute the precise angles needed for the curved window walls on the wings, which were too difficult to compute on paper. And no, I don't intend building it for real! Links: Flickr (lots more images) YouTube (looks better at 720 resolution) The video contains still images and many flyby sequences which give a better impression of the model by restoring some of the 3D visual cues lost due to the non-raytraced renders containing no shadows. Excuse the length of the video and number of images. It's a REALLY BIG model, and 25 images just wasn't going to do it... This is my first post here, and may well be my last! - during the uploads of the more than 200 images the PC terminally died and the remainder of the uploads and this post had to be done from a Raspberry Pi.

    Starglider

Built out from a single side-facing Nexagon for New Elementary, the Starglider is a single-occupant speeder/spacecraft. I've always wanted to do one of those 'all wonky angles' builds and the 'chunky aesthetic' so it's nice to cross both off in one build. You can read about the build on New Elementary and see more photos on my Flickr feed. Thanks for looking.

    [MOC] Star Defender 350

I never had the original Star Defender 200 Plasma-Drive Starship so decided to make my own, beefed up version. I went for a sort of late 70s/80s look, with lot of angles and plenty of old, weathered white bricks, so all the dirt and grime you see is deliberate. Once a top-of-the-line all-rounder in the Science Command fleet, the 'Star Defender 350' is now a much-loved workhorse used for heavy lifting and orbital shuttle missions at outposts throughout the Outer Reaches. Despite its age, the 6932-5 Star Defender is the workhorse handling all manner of orbital insertion and payload retrieval operations at outposts and colonies. Crew pods are sent to distant outposts and research bases using high-energy launchers. Once in orbit, the Star Defender collects them and shuttles them to the surface. In many explorers' minds, the image of the Star Defender is inextricably linked with the crew pods that brought them to their new life, but the truth is that crew rotations are less common than routine cargo deliveries. More often than not, it's crates of supplies that it shuttles into and out of orbit. Recently-delivered supply crates await a ground vehicle to ferry them to the base. Looks like food and medical supplies for Science Command, as well as engineering components from the M-Tron foundries. Unlike earlier models, the 6932-5 boasted a full padded leather interior in stylish beige. These days the 6932-5 is mainly treated as a heavy-lifter and cargo shuttle, but in its day it was also rated as a full escort and enforcement craft, modestly armed and capable of a surprising turn of speed. Even now, pilots sometimes liven up a routine mission by putting their foot down. It's not often now that an old ship like the 6932-5 Star Defender gets away from the gravity well for anything more exciting than supply runs, but Blacktron raiders still roam the Outer Reaches and from time to time the Star Defender will be called on to protect the outpost or supply pods.

  17. This is the Asp Explorer spaceship from the video game Elite: Dangerous. Made from over 1400 parts, this model is built to 1:219 scale. It has a nice chunky tactile feel. The Asp featured in the classic 1984 space game "Elite", and lives on with style in the 2014 reboot "Elite: Dangerous" and "Elite Dangerous: Horizons". In-game images of the Asp Explorer Here and some info Here. This was a really fun project. It is a challenging shape to recreate, with all the awkward angles! I tried to get as much detail in as I could, and use the Lego parts in interesting ways. Particularly the thrusters on the underside which face the opposite direction to the surrounding studs. It has a fairly intricate internal skeleton to hold everything together. I have added it to Lego ideas. Please do support it. Thanks!

It's the looks I've been getting from my friends. The upgrades from Z have helped, but everybody still looks at me with pity. I want to blend in more. [Dora] - Yes, I've noticed the change. I didn't know there was a distinction until I was uploaded into your mind, but now, it's like people look at us the way they looked at me, as a machine. Maybe there's a few things we can do for now to help. I've got some standard flight suits onboard; that'll help cover your body. I also bet we could ditch a lot of this casing around your head. [Hannibal] - I suppose so. And with a smaller head, since we're going into Kawashita territory, I might be able to find a cyborg whose face I could borrow. [Dora] - That's the spirit, John. I can't wait to see Wick's face when we see him again. It's been so long. At a pitstop close to Wick Nole's camp. [Hannibal] - What do you think Dora? [Dora] - Oh, John, the skin fits on just right. And that smile... Let's go see your friend, he's going to be so happy to see you

    [O - E11] Extraction 2.1

Location: The Fascini Cluster - E11 Tags: Civil Building, Spaceship, Vehicle, Land Vehicle [Hannibal] - These legs are just nonsense, Lu. I feel like I'm scuttling around like a... um... the phrase escapes me, but you get what I mean. [Lu] - Yeah, I think they were meant for space mechs. CLAPPIE is still learning about RL... stuff. [Hannibal] - Everything okay, Lu? Your breathing rate and body language indicate that something is wrong. [Lu] - How much do you remember, John, I mean outside of the different skills you've been picking up? [Hannibal] - My first extraction had some general memories, like my name, who I worked for, what my job was, but nothing concrete to back it up. Most of what we've pulled through Kawashita's network has been skills based so that I can hunt down the rest of me, but there's not much behind them. I could tell you what color the lighthouse was off the Heinlein crater of Camp Promethei, but I only know second-hand that I had a family. Hell, I didn't know we were friends until CLAPPIE told me. [Lu] - Do you remember killing anybody? I mean, along with your combat training? [Hannibal] - Yeah. That's part of it. That and I've killed a dozen Zoids and some cyborgs since my extraction. I'm told my flight training killed a whole MANTIS death squad off Ertauq in cold blood, but I haven't synced up with those memories yet. [Lu] - Does it bother you, the killing? [Hannibal] - My combat training extraction came with some rules about when killing is appropriate, but I'm still not sure about the logic. Have I offended your sensibilities on the subject? [Lu] - No, no... I was just curious... Landscape used last week. - - - Outside a mining supervisor's quarters in the Fascini Cluster. Dora had secured the facility by stealing the supervisor's ship and cutting his suits oxygen supply when he tried to use his asteroid jumper. The latest upload contained locations of trapped memories within MANTIS and Kawashita networks, intel on most previously held Octan systems, and John's personal profiles of the Octan employees he would need to extract his files. [Hannibal] - Upload complete, Dora. I think I know a friend that can get me some decent legs now. We'll pick up my flight training on the way. [Dora] - That sounds wonderful, John. It'll be so nice to see more of your friends again. [Hannibal] - There was a system missing from the file, Jurin II. Know anything about it? [Dora] - It must have been a significant file if it was split from the main; but no, I don't have anything on it and many of the Octan employees that were stationed on Jurin II died in the Mantis invasion. Maybe Mabel will know something. It looks like she's on Donwarr...
