Hello Lego Castle Fans! for starters - it's going to be a long slow project :) Do you remember 6057 Sea Serpent set from 1992? I've never had this set in my collection, I thought it might be worth building a new version... for Black Falcons fraction! One week ago I started building my first ship project - Medieval Cog "The Black Serpent"! This is still work in progress moc, I have a lot of work to do :) Now, has 43 cm long and almost 900 parts (will be more). Then I will make my own sail, so far I have prepared the material (my old pillow), I painted it white, I still have to paint the Black Falsons logo. But it's not over! I also want buils some area, fragment of sea and coast with some stronghold - for Raven Knights. The next steps are: - complete the ship's design, - make a sail, - order a lot of new parts, - hunt few sheeps from set 10775 I prepared the first material from this project, if you are interested, check out my youtube - Edge of Bricks channel :)

SHIPtember 2021 - Nexus Force space colony ship "Separation Anxiety"

Just so you know the lingo, SHIP = "Seriously Huge Investment in Parts" (or, a large spacecraft over 100 studs long). Usually built in September as part of a month long building spree. (it's more like a mad dash, really) The month usually involves a digital poster created at the end for all participants who took the correctly facing pictures and followed the rules. Join the new SHIPtember group here. They also have a discord going created by Simon Liu but I don't have link for that. Anyway, I designed a MOC in early 2017, as seen here that later became a Classic Space version with a very long body called "Project Upsilon". I have decided to tear apart the original orange vessel linked to above that proceeded the CS project I built for SHIPtember 2018 and expand upon it with features from the Upsilon design... which was recreated for the new orange colony ship I'm posting about due to the Upsilon file being lost. …If that's not confusing enough, it was all based on a 2016 MOC by @dr_spock as seen here. Now that you head is probably spinning so fast it's probably nearing escape velocity, here is the lowdown on this ship's lore: This is the "Separation Anxiety", one of four Nexus Force colony ships for cryo-frozen colonists headed for the Andromeda Galaxy at full 9.0 warp from Beta Polaris. The bridge crew is still awake, and will be for the whole journey due to a small time-stasis field enveloping the bridge only. Why do that for them and not the passengers, you ask? Simple: the ships' on-board power is fully devoted to colonist life support and engine thrust only. (They couldn't power the time field even at full power!) The eight large arrays on either side of the ship power the field, and can draw energy from the microwave background radiation present all over the universe since the Big Bang.... endless power drawn from the Universe itself, so to speak. NOTES: A removable cockpit roof is standard here, although the colonists area is empty and unopen-able. This should be finished IRL by October 1st, at which point it will be added to the "SHIP's: WIPs and Discussion" group 2021 thread for use in the poster. (hopefully it will exist this year!) The nose features the bridge crew area, with a single weapon attached to the very front. This was actually an advanced heat dispenser for the microwave arrays that can be quickly re-calibrated to cut through dura-steel up to a 30 feet thick like butter.. and anything organic nearby cooks thoroughly or is incinerated to ash from the radiation as well. (depending on distance from beam impact) This weapon has never been tested to full power, as it might destroy the ship in the process. The two extremely high-power Nuclear-fusion engines get the ship going in a hurry. They are capable of Warp 9 - which is just barely sub-light speed - but require half a solar system's length to slow down to atmospheric-entry speed. (You really don't want to incinerate the planet's crust your are trying colonize with your engine's high-energy backwash!) Parts left to find after doing a cursory check of the pervious IRL model. All in all it should cost $65 (before shipping) according to BrickLink's wanted list feature a it stands right now. I'm not entirely sure I trust that number 100%, but it should be somewhere in that general ballpark. Comments are welcome from everyone! -
From the Fontonajo dockyard in Nova Terreli comes "La Descoberta", one of the largest ships yet to sail the Brick Seas. This Terraman with 26 cannons and its two decks gives room for more than 100 crew. It even provides some cages - both for exotic animals found on adventures towards unknown islands and pirates defeated in battle. "La Descoberta" will soon set sail to lead the Fontonajo family, the MCTC and Eslandola to new glory. Additional Pictures: Some details of the crew: I actually completed this ship a loooong while ago (more than two years). However I never found the motivation to post it here. Now here you go. Sorry for the lack of story... But for what I originally intended I should have posted it two years ago... And now I didn't come up with anything, unfortunately. When I started working on this one, I had class 8 in mind. Looking at all the other ships I think it's probably a class 7. A total of 26 cannons, and ~50 people (visibly) on board. Actually I am quite disappointed that I did not take any topshots or other pictures of the deck, or the lower deck, or the cages with tiger and jaguar in them, and so on... So many details have not been covered in pictures... I even took a lot of effort to build varied colour trans plates behind the windows, but you cannot see anything of that... well well, photographing this large MOC was quite an effort.. Whatever, no way to change any of this now, so here you go. When I stumbled across Paint0r's Legos Ideas page for a Lucrehulk-Class Droid Control ship, I had to build it. So I did. Please support Paint0r's build if you can. The Lucrehulk was a dream addition to my display for some time, and I don't think TLG will ever sell one. So when I saw this design I knew the wait was over - except for ordering the additional 1200 pieces I needed for the build. It took a few nights to figure out how many of the 1695 pieces I had already. These photos were taken at a point where I'd color swapped enough of the ship for display purposes. I didn't follow the .LDD instructions perfectly because there were a few points where I'd gotten lost or simply didn't have the pieces. However, the approach to the build was repetitive, so I was able to 'fill in the blanks' when needed. The Pick-a-Brick order was nearly perfect - but I'd ordered 96 of a slope 45 1x2 with plate and it came in white instead of light grey (a piece that PaB doesn't have available in light grey). I was pretty disappointed until I started building it anyway and thought a dash of white was okay. I also spashed a bit of Trade Federation blue in there, too. This now means, of course, this isn't the ship from The Phantom Menace, the Vutuun Palaa. Another ship of it's class, further along in The Clone Wars. The build: it was a lot of similar wedges. Started with the core, of which I had enough grey laying about to assemble it. It does disconnect from the base model fairly easily. I do hope that if Paint0r sees this model, they aren't disappointed with some of the many cosmetic deviations I made from the original model. I'd say I'm 90% accurate to the instructions, and the final build of the design which was shared here. Much of it was limitation of my patience and budget. It's very difficult to get the arms of the hangars to align perfectly (can see this in the top view photo below). It takes some doing to squeeze the wedges together to make a smooth curve... and sometimes results in buckling and the pieces go flying... argh. As a result, these initial photos will be updated once I can get the twin hangars more symmetrical. It takes patience. But having this beast on display is worth it... even if it isn't swooshable. I really skimped out on the engine array. Too many pieces hard to find on Pick-a-Brick and it was just easier to stick the sub-engines to the side of the hull rather than build the intricate lattice that holds the three main engines and six sub-engines together. I am satisfied with the way it looks. This build will be the centerpiece of my Trade Federation army someday. Will need a little micro-scale fleet of N1 fighters too, of course to bring it down. Most of the build was creating ten of these very tightly packed, extremely well designed wedges that comprise each of the cargo bay/arms.

Captain Surlecoup, as an Olean privateer, made his first appearance in the Westface, while the RNTC was carrying out a mission in Terraversa. OL's mission in Westface had to solicit the captain's help after having detained by the local authority, despite their prior efforts in rescueing shipwrecked TVsans. The whole thing turned out to be a trap set by the lawless TV militia, and without the intervention of a more reasonable mind, war between OL and TV could have taken place years before. Then, our relentless captain has proved his competence and savoir-faire during the Lotus incident, delivering precious information about the motivation behind that sudden incursion of Lotii in El Oleonda, and in the subsequent sea battle, he, with his samourai friends, captured a Lotii warjunk. It's in recognition of his devotion to the Crown that this frigate was specially designed and built for him. In line with the latest advancement in OL's naval architecture, this ship has the particularity of offering more room for the crew, allowing them to better adapt to a prolonged journey on sea. To be licensed as a class 6 ship. OOC: I beat my record on shipbuilding with these two ships, as my family and I endured another turn of knock down due to the virus where I live, which gave me a lot of building time, but the down side is the delivery service was down too, so I had to work with the existing bricks. This frigate was built after a model of French frigate that I found on the net, it's labeled as "a privateer frigate" and has the particularity of having an enclosed weather deck, or some sort of extended poop deck, not commonly seen on other frigates I think.

Racing Speedboat microscale vignette.The "sea" part is made in a way that the hull of the speedboat seems submerged as in reality.It contains 235 pieces and throws a lot of water...I also made an alternative front end in parts designer that can be made if you chop the ball of a 4131 party hat and glue it to the cone and one with a 24482 spear that you can easily make if you dont like the front part to be only the 2x2x2 cone.Enjoy and comment if you like it. https://www.bricklink.com/v3/studio/design.page?idModel=245825

The images for my model are too large to put here, so here's a link to them on Bricksafe This model is a 1:25 scale replica of a ship that served in Czechoslovakia and Germany in WWII. While in Czeckoslovakian service it was named Presedent Masarysk, named after their first presedent. It was a river monitor that was the leader of their brown water flotilla. It was launched in 1932 and in 1936 when Czechoslovakia was annexed by Germany was transferred over to their navy and renamed Bechelaren. It mostly did escorting on the Danube river, however it partook in the German counter-offensive on Budapest in 1944. In 1945 the ship was turned over to the allies, whom disarmed it then gave it back to the newly reformed Czechoslovakia in 1947. It was used as a working platform until it was scrapped in 1978. The model, if built out of actual lego would be exactly 2 METERS long. Despite minifigure scale normally being either 1:32 or 1:45 I've personally found that I prefer 1:25 scale for minifigs. Also it was originally a typo that I didn't catch until I had already finished the model. I made it so that you can remove everything on the deck and take the hull apart by bulkhead. I had to get creative with the interior since I couldn't find anything about it other than how many bulkheads it had. I also kept finding conflicting numbers as to how many crew it had, so I put in as many beds as the largest of the numbers I came across. Hi everyone It has been a while since I posted something in here but I want to share my version of the Silent Mary I found on YB created by Moc my Bricks. I've added approximately 2500 extra bricks on his build to make the ship more realistic and more detailed. This is the first big ship I've made and here are the mayor things I've added or changed: * I've added an extra lower gundeck * The wide of the rear is increased by 2 studs to add 6 rear guns * The weapon on the backside is changed, I've tried to make the 2 lions holding the shield. * There's a galley below the upper gundeck * All guns have been redesigned to make them more realistic * There are 2 triple barrel guns hidden on the front of the ship * The captain quarters is having a full interior now and there is a secret storage below his desk. * The main deck is drastically changed, it's having chairs to the lower and stearing deck and a few other items changed. In the link you see all photos I've made and I hope you guys like it and if you have any other ideas to improve it even better please let me know. Ahoy, mateys! I'd like to present to you a Lego Ideas project - The Royal Flagship - a classic style, modular, set-like looking ship-of-the-line with lots of play features. SUPPORT NOW Stats and overview: Features: ---------- About: I started this project with a specific intention - to design a multi deck vessel that can be both - a Lego set-like looking ship that's fun to play with, and a decently realistic shelf model of a true ship-of-the-line. And all of this had to fit in the Lego Ideas framework, specifically it had to contain 3000 parts or less. No easy undertaking, and I've failed to come up with something that I liked a couple of times over the past years. This design now, however, I think it quite does it. Sure, it might not be playful enough to some, and not realistic enough looking to others, and then there's the fact there are only stud-shooters instead of ye olde Lego cannons... () But I hope the compromise I found is appealing to at least some of you; and that it proves that ships-of-the-line can be done as sets by Lego. Some decisions I took along the way: Use stud shooters instead of spring powered cannons (*boo-ing noises in the background* ) But hear me out - let's face it, no single set will ever contain that many classic cannons. So the Royal Flagship features easy to remove stud shooter based custom cannons that can be fired from outside the ship, but that can also as easily be replaced by your good old spring powered cannons - if you got enough of them, the space is there! Almost no interior, except for the captain's cabin. This decision was simply based on Lego Ideas' 3000 parts maximum. Feel free to fill the decks with whatever you would like to see though - there's enough headroom for minifigs to be placed on all decks! Relatively simple hull shape, little tumble home, no string rigging. Due to the modular approach, I just couldn't come up with anything more ornate/fancy/complicated - if you have some suggestions, however, feel free to elaborate! The Royal Flagship was very well received during last year's Bricks @nd Friends exhibition in Cologne; kids especially seemed to like the firing mechanism pretty well - we literally had a blast Let's see if I can take the ship to a few more exhibitions this year - if Corona permits. ---------- If you have questions, please ask! Ever since I got the Queen Anne's Revenge, which was almost 10 years ago, I've been wanting to build a dark brown hulled ship. I had to wait for various plates and slopes to become available in this former rare colour. Some dark brown jumpers would have made my life a whole lot easier but I managed without anyway. She's a barque although I did not fit any square sails, these might come later. This could very well be my 50th ship although I can't be sure because I lost my archive when Mocpages.com went down. At full capacity she runs 24 guns, a series of 12-pounders on the main deck and a few 3-pound swivel guns on the quarter. Something that may catch your attention, or better yet, not at all, is that she's not all that fancy. No galleries or ornaments and a pretty dull colour scheme. Yep, ships like that existed too and they were much greater in number. One might get the wrong impression that the fancy, decorated warship was the common one, looking through the Classis Pirates archive. On that note, a fancy decorated warship does look nicer on display. My main sources of inspiration where the Lady Washington and HMS Bounty. This might have been a fast merchant barque, however, a band of pirates found a better use for it... I've been wanting to use those zip line handles on the rigging for ages now, it took me a while to gather such an amount (there are 30 on this ship). I'm satisfied with the effect but It'd be cool to have those in brown or dark tan. The Harry Potter wands for tying the rigging was another experiment but not really a succes in my opinion. It's pretty tricky to find a good interface with the ship. I think I'll go for simple 3L bars with clip plates next time. Recycling swivel guns and capstan from an older ship... I mean, why change something if it works well? Hehe, I've been using that 12-pounder design for like, forever ... Same argument as above! Well, that was it for now. I might fit some square sails later although I have a lot of other projects going on, it will probably take a while before I give this ship some attention again. Jeez, so many MOC ships around nowadays, It's a challenge to stand out . P.S.: I've got a couple of higher quality pictures at my Flickr photo stream, incase one wants to really zoom in on some of the details.

Hi, folks. During last SHIPtember, Ryan Olsen created a SHIP based on Babylon 5 - the EAS Agamemnon. I stumbled across it at the time thanks to some Lego blogs, and at the end of the year decided to build one for myself. Credit for the original Lego design goes to Ryan, of course! I took his WIP pics (here) and final pics (here - awesome photography & Photoshopping!) and reverse-engineered it in LDD to understand how it all held together and what parts were required. Then I used Rebrickable to figure out what parts I needed. To build it, I used the "hide" tool in LDD - hide bricks in reverse order, then undo to play back the build as you follow along. Much more helpful than the absurd LDD-generated instructions... Here's the end result (Flickr album here) - my pics & lighting are not studio-quality, unlike Ryan's! The middle section rotates (manually) and stays put at any angle, so it's well balanced and the turntables provide enough friction to keep it stable. Stats-wise, it's about 95cm (~117 studs) long, 35cm tall and 15cm wide, using ~4700 bricks, weighing-in at just over 3.7kg (8.2lb). I made some guesses as to internal structure (e.g. the turntable connections in the rotating section) and the greebles on top & bottom are my own, but it's very close to Ryan's original design and some reference images of the original. Ryan was kind enough to share the image files he used for the stickers, so I was able to complete the model. I couldn't connect the front & rear side plating in LDD - as I learned here, the connections are just illegal as there's not enough clearance between the side plates and overhanging top & bottom plates in software - however, it obviously works in the brick. I converted the LDD to an LDraw file (using SylvainLS's updated parts mapper here) and used LDCad (which can ignore collisions) to place the plates in order to use POV-Ray to make the renders you can see in my album. I learned a lot doing that! Note that I made some tweaks in-the-brick but haven't re-done the LDraw file or any renders to reconcile the minor differences. It was a fun, frustrating at times, but very rewarding journey, and I'm really happy how it turned out. The SHIP looks awesome on display in my living room. To Rear-Admiral Fletcher Commander of the Royal Terra Novan Fleet Wullham became quite busy. The city flourishes and there clearly is no shortage of work. But on the other hand we struggle under a shortage of supplies, an unfortunate moment, as a new ship, the 38 Gun frigate Argonaut, just launched, now sitting in the harbour with only the standing rigging complete. The situation would benefit from the admiralty taking up an official position about the importance of Wullham and its trading value. I hope to solve the issue as soon as possible. To make it an offical GoC entry, I need you to post additional tasks to get the ship being able to participate in the game. For example I thought about some scenes like preparing the yards/chopping some trees, making the sails, recruiting the crew, collecting the food rations and other supplies. Or whatever you can come up with. So once 4 tasks are done, I will add the frigate to the GoC thread. It would be nice, if you post them here as well, of course you can license them. This idea was somewhat agreed upon by @Bregir, if anything won't work, I will change or delete it.

Hello, I've not shown a vessel here in forever. How about a Frigate? Started in early 2019, this ship stood on my shelf unfinished for almost 2 years at this point. I finally decided to complete the rigging and add the missing sails the last couple weeks. I think this might be my most elaborate rigging job yet, hope it shows! La Flora is inspired by mid 18th century french frigates. First started but abandoned by Captain Green Hair, I purchased the parts from him and tried to stay close to the initial idea. Sails are old curtains, coloured with coffee. Not a single reddish brown piece was used in this ship. Ratlines are glued. No time for long description, here are the pics! Dear all Simply wanted to get some feedback on the model below. Anyone else got some sea-worthy vessels, or is everyone tabletop lego-builders? In general one can say that I've tried to stay true to the design and aesthetics of the Black Seas Barracuda (1988). Trimmed to hard on the aft when not making way, but none the less calibration of hull is straight forward. This was the first actual sail test. I've been considering building in an engine for remote control, but not as of now. Glad if anyone else has some floating models to present, or other ideas. Have a nice spring- Yannis -
I know this MOC has been out for a while, but I had a lot of fun building this model recently so I thought I'd share the video I made on it + a few pictures. Hey all Me and my 4 and 5 year old boys share a love for Lego and space, we have taken a particular liking to watching all the SpaceX falcon 9 and Starship prototype launches, the launches are amazing, if you haven't watched the SN8-12 Starship test flights, I highly recommend you do. Being in Australia and waking the younglings up at 4-5am in the morning to watch the launches definitely has caused some interesting discussions with the wife......Anyway this love of Lego and space has naturally led to a lot of rocket building and a realisation that I would really love Lego to release a spaceX rocket build. This led to me designing a Falcon 9 rocket and submitting it onto Lego Ideas for the chance of Lego potentially taking my design and turning it into the next Rocket Set. [COR - FB] Class IV WTC Topsail Schooner Sjælland

This MOC was inspired by @Mr. Townsend's Miss Elizabeth and @Bregir's use of 4185. Also of course the USS Hannah, on which the Miss Elizabeth is based. - Intro story will follow - A new ship was launched at the Farrensman shipyards. This time an order from the WTC. The Topsail Schooner Sjælland is a fast, light armed merchant vessel. Her rig doesn't require a big crew and her four carronades as well as her four swivel guns are enough to defend against little ambushes and make her one of the more independent merchant vessels. Nathaniel Stienhouwer's first signed position as a steersman. Her recommended stats: R M G C $ H4 6 1 2 4 1 78 of those little brown wheels are in this MOC. I'm happy with the result, only the sheets for the foresails bother me a bit. I might think of another solution but for now I want to give her some rest. -
A highly manueverable corvette with complement of two Hylopetes-class starfighters. Standard crew complement of 7 bridge officers, 3 pilots, and 3 maintenance droids. Armament includes 4 heavy plasma beam cannons, 4 light plasma beam cannons, and 6 point-defense ion burst turrets, and 4 graviton torpedo projectors. Weapons and engines are both powered by a Callisto Shipyard's Mk. XLII Stellarator. Play features include: - Functioning turbolift allowing crew members to traverse the change in local gravity between decks. - Pull-out bed in the brig allows for both efficient space utilization and humane treatment of prisoners. - Fully retractable forward hull sections provide access to the bridge and hangar deck. - Removable roof on the middle hull sections provide access to the turbolift. - Retractable walls in the rear hull section provide access to the reactor, maintenance bay, and brig. Other notes: although this was created in BrickSmith, besides the extravagant choice of brick colors and light-up features, the entire ship is structurally sound and should be physically realizable in a different palette. [MOC] HMS Effortless 118-gun first rate ship of the line like victory

Ahoy my fellow captains, kind of a strange feeling to start this post, since I have been browsing this forum for more than a year now, admiring these countless pieces of art posted here. Actually, it's been my six-year-old son who constantly asked me to post our progress here - his father was a little shy and reluctant to do so, since he is never truly satisfied with his construction and still in awe regarding your astonishing models. But, you know, "Arrrrghh", what the heck, no need to hide anymore, I've been utterly in love with LEGO since I got my first bricks and can still vividly remember sitting on my child room's floor next to my brother, listening to "ALF" cassettes and (re-)build our barracuda for the 100th time.. The first pictures show the results of my sons' and my christmas-constructing period of 2016. Ever since, we weren't really happy with its form and as we were blown away by the exellency of ships like the "Le Fleuron" or the "Sang Royale" (and especially, of course, Cpt. Greenhair's unbelievably helpful ideas - THANK YOU, CAPTAIN!!), we wanted to do it differently this time. The pictures after the "Barracuda" show the process of our current project with the (according to my most patient, wonderful and tolerant wife...) fitting title "HMS Effortless". I think you know this feeling of always finding something to improve... lately, it's the positioning of the masts - the distance between the fore-mast and the mainmast seems to be too far. Please let us know what you think and where you see room for further improvement - my son and I are happy about every feedback! First the "old" Barracuda: And this is supposed to be legendary HMS Victory's "secret" sister ship, the HMS Effortless: (The balcony was my son's wish ) It's planned to give her full rigging, sails and of course the many missing details she deserves. it's always a question of time and money Here are more pics from her construction so far as well as more of the Barracuda. -
