  1. Prince John Sits inside his lonely castle with everything he could possibly want. Money, Power, Land, Loyal Servants. But he is unsatisfied, craving only the death of the bandit Robin Hood. Meanwhile Robin Hood is enjoying a party with all his friends. He is an outlaw who owns nothing but the clothes on his back and his trusty bow. He gives away all the money he ever gets. And today he is happy, dancing with his one true love Maid Marion while all his friends dance play and sing around him. My goodness this took forever to edit. Stupid Leaves. Built for the "Light & Shadow" Category for the 2023 Summer Joust. Hopefully this is the right forum, it could also belong in licensed themes, but I figured it was a better fit here. I did enter it in the Summer Joust after all.

    Merry Men's camp MOC

I'm not very good at taking pictures, but here is my MOC for the Merry Men's camp, with tons of hidden features in the spirit of Robin Hood
  3. So here is my latest MOC based on the Robin Hood classic which was a favorite of mine as a child and now for my 6 year old son. The build stands over 4 feet tall in a 13x4 baseplate layout and took around 9 months to finish. I added some LED lights throughout and made it modular for my local Children's Museum and Brickworld Chicago coming up in June. I also posted several of the medieval village buildings on the Ideas page in case you're interested in voting we would greatly appreciate it! Thanks for viewing... Robin Hood & Little John

Just a quick entry for a contest over on MOCpages.
  5. After several requests, I have made an MOC of a Sherwood camp, including Friar Tuck and his faithful dogs, Marian, and another member of the Merry Men roasting a fish. The MOC includes: A hut covered in vegetation, with loopholes on the sides for archers, a table for eating using gold dishes, plenty of food in barrels and crates, and some tools and cooking utensils on the wall A campfire surrounded by rocks and places to sit, with a fish rack and a bipod for making stew The target, conveniently "borrowed" from the tournament grounds, with which Robin Hood split his opponent's arrow Three minifigures, as mentioned above: Friar Tuck, Marian, and another member of the Merry Men roasting a fish over the fire. Since Friar Tuck is such a difficult minifigure to design with existing Lego pieces, I decided to give him his characteristic look using a yellow sticker over the bowl cut hair piece (after deciding that painting made the hair indentations even more conspicuous). He is accompanied by his trusty dogs. You can see better pictures of the camp on Flickr at https://www.flickr.c...157659507712026. This is also a project on Lego Ideas if you like it enough to support it or share it: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/119057 I have always wanted to portray Robin Hood through Lego bricks. I hope you like it, and if not practical suggestions are always welcome!
  6. This MOC features a peddler's wagon with several different features, including compartments for swords, bows and quivers, and Merry Men. Robin Hood and Little John are riding the wagon, and the Sheriff of Nottingham is off to the side ready to check the wagon's contents. There is an additional member of the Merry Men in the tree to the side of the wagon, which includes a catapult and hand and footholds to climb it in the back. Let me know what you think, and if you have any suggestions! This MOC is also a project on Lego Ideas. Please support/share it if you like it: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/115547 I have a lot more pictures of the MOC on Flickr, with better resolution: https://www.flickr.c...157657993256465 [
  7. While we wait to see what Nexo Knights has in store for us, I thought I would share another MOC I just made. One of Robin Hood's Merry Men enters the village ready to give out stolen treasure . . . since his cart looks to be carrying refreshment, he is able to smuggle the treasure in without being stopped by the Sheriff of Nottingham's men! This MOC includes a horse-drawn cart featuring a barrel full of treasure, and two minifigures: One of Robin Hood's Merry Men to steer the cart, and a village blacksmith ready to gather up the treasure (as shown in the last image). This is also a project on Lego Ideas, if you feel inclined to support or share it: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/113997 You can also see these and additional pictures in better quality through Flickr: https://www.flickr.c...157655165310134 Feel free to add any suggestions or questions in the comments if I missed anything.
  8. This is my fourth and final MOC revolving around Robin Hood, featuring Will Scarlet and Gamble Gold at an outpost, along with one of Prince John's soldiers. This outpost features a fake rock wall in the back which can be raised up to reveal two crates of treasure and two small barrels of food. These merry men can also raise the ladder to prevent any intruders. As with my other three Robin Hood MOCs, any feedback is much appreciated. If there is enough interest in this and my other Robin Hood MOCs, there is one more set I am considering making. This MOC is also a project on Lego Ideas. Feel free to support it here if you like it: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/110260 You can also see these and additional pictures in higher res on Flickr at https://www.flickr.c...157655824432309
  9. Here is my third MOC revolving around Robin Hood. This one is about Marian, and is a lot smaller than the first two. This set includes Marian, Wat O' the Crabstaff, and Prince John. Any feedback is much appreciated. This set is also a project on Lego Ideas, where you can read more details about the MOC: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/110035. I have posted a few pics below. You can see these and other pics in higher res on Flickr: https://www.flickr.c...157656152613241
  10. I just finished my second MOC revolving around Robin Hood, about Little John. This set includes a variety of Robin Hood-esque features and accessories, and 8 minifigs. Any feedback is much appreciated. This set is also a project on Lego Ideas, where you can read more details about the MOC: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/109893. I also figured this MOC could bring up some interesting discussions about BURPs and raised baseplates :) I have posted a few pics below. 11. I just got a Robin Hood themed set approved on Lego Ideas, at https://ideas.lego.c...rojects/108565. If you are interested in seeing more sets that work alongside Forestmen and Dark Forest sets, or are just a fan of Robin Hood in general, please support the project to show that we want more of this type of set. Feel free to leave any suggestions as well, and I will work to update the set based on these suggestions. The project includes Robin Hood, George a Greene, Bettris, Much the Miller's Son, and Sir Guy of Gisbourne. It also opens up (from a locked position) so that you can easily access the different levels of the tree, and includes several Robin Hood-like accessories. I have three future projects in the pipeline as well, revolving around Little John, Marian, and Will Scarlet. Lastly, do you know of other good places for me to share this project? 12. Hello, everyone! I love building the Lego Castle sets, as well as making my own MOCs. I think castle hasn't been as much of a focus lately, perhaps because many (based on what I have heard) feel that castle keeps regurgitating old ideas. What does everyone else think? My MOCs have revolved around King arthur and Robin Hood, since these are two themes as of yet unexplored in the official Lego world. The Forestmen and Dark Forest sets do resemble Robin Hood though, and I like to collect these. If you are interested, I just got a Robin Hood project approved at Lego Ideas: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/108565 You can also see pictures of this and other MOCs on my Flickr account: https://www.flickr.com/photos/104046995@N05/sets Nice to see so much active discussion here!
  13. Hello All! Been a while since I posted here, I have been very busy as of late. But I am back to MOCing again, and can't wait to get back to into GoH and regular MOCing. :) Here is my latest build, built for a collaboration for BrickWorld 2015. Enjoy! Robin Hood - The Merry Hunter My contribution to the Brick-Time Stories Collaborative at BW 2015. One of two Robin Hood creations for the collaboration. Eight builders, including Max Pointner, Ian Spacek, Matthew Oh, Lee Muzzy, Daniel Church, Ben Merrill, and Casey McCoy each built a scene from a children's picture book or novel. The scenes were constructed on bases made to look like books, and were arranged into a veritable library of illustrations at the expo. This creation portrays the classic Robin Hood robbery in the forest. I had tons of fun building this creation, I experimented with a very Mark Erickson style landscaping, and Erickson brothers' trees. :) Gotta love the Ericksons! :D To make it more artistic, I shaped the landscape that is popping out of the book in the shape of a bow. Thanks for viewing, and don't forget to check out the other creations of the collaborative! l Display OverviewSoli Deo Gloria! ~Matthew~
  14. Hello everyone! I just found out about this group via the Facebook page. When I came over I saw the 5th LDD RCB and that it was a Western town theme. I was immediately interested in knowing what else this group did. I am following now following that thread and looking forward to seeing the final product. I started playing with LEGOs when I was about 5. I have always loved horses so my earliest sets all contained at least one horse. I had used the LDD 4-6 times over the past 8 years, but this site has inspired me to get back into using it. My favorite themes are Western, Medieval (particularly Robin Hood era), and Imperials (particularly modified to the American Revolution.) Last year, I also started building a Christmas village using a combination of the winter village sets and my own creations. I am presently going to college for my Master's and working full time so I stay too busy. However, I do enjoy playing PC games or building LEGOs when I have time. Most of my creations are MODs or small MOCs that are added to existing sets to fill them out. I will work on getting some pictures up of things I have done. I look forward to learning new techniques and getting new ideas from this group.
