  1. Wanted to make the mech a bit more unique build-wise while also bringing in multiple elements from the Climber Mech. Also, I feel like the Elemental mechs released this year would have been way better if they had each come with an extra limb to further the mix and match gimmick.

    [MOC] Don't Panic!

Build for SpaceJam 2023, 12x12 vignette category, I mace a retro robot. Don't Panic! by Ids de Jong, on Flickr A nice reference which is also applicable to the build, made up by @Murdoch17: Thanks for looking, C&C welcome.
  3. Hello everybody, I am finished with my entry but I did not have time yet to post any WIP content. Nevertheless I took some pictures during building, so I can show you my design process now: The CRAB - ROV - Camouflage Robot for Arctic Biotopes - Remote Operated Vehicle The idea was to build a sideways walking robot with an appearance like a crab. The leg kinematic is based on the Klann linkage: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klann_linkage This kinematic is actually used in some underwater walking robots right now, so I thought it to be reasonable to use it in some arctic vehicle. At first I created a test vehicle with 8 legs: Crab robot WIP 2 by n8walker23, auf Flickr Crab robot WIP 1 by n8walker23, auf Flickr This proof of concept went fine, the legs can easily move, rotate and lift the vehicle. The gearing down of the drive motors is not even necessary. The next task was to shrink that mechanism, as a smaller vehicle would be even more efficient at moving as fast as possible without straining the linkage or overloading the motors. A kinematic for the claws had to be designed as well. My layout would be: one motor for back four legs, one motor for front four legs, and one motor for each claw. So this was the next stage: Crab robot WIP 3 by n8walker23, auf Flickr Crab robot WIP 4 by n8walker23, auf Flickr The motion of the sensors (the eyes) is coupled to the motion of the claws and it has some simple bodywork. The eye motion can cover an area of roughly 45 degrees. This design was followed by the next optimization loop: Crab robot WIP 5 by n8walker23, auf Flickr Crab robot WIP 6 by n8walker23, auf Flickr I am quite happy with the bodywork at this stage. The rear propellers are driven simultaneous with the rear legs and the front legs are connected to a two-cylinder fake engine. The weight of the robot was 787g. Roughly 350g of that are the electronic parts. Now it was time to streamline the construction, decrease part count and weight and improve building quality. At the next iterations the robot would be modular. This made it much easier to apply little modifications, as it is not necessary any more to disassemble everything all the time to get access to critical regions. Also, I replaced the fake engine by a fan, as i found a combustion engine not really fitting to the concept. Crab robot WIP 7 by n8walker23, auf Flickr Crab robot WIP 8 by n8walker23, auf Flickr Crab robot WIP 9 by n8walker23, auf Flickr Crab robot WIP 10 by n8walker23, auf Flickr This is the final stage of the robot. Weight is reduced to 738g. Now I need to do some programming to have a nice remote control and to get good pictures and maybe a video as well. Regarding the colour scheme, I tried some variants, but some choices are already set by the colours of the mindstorms parts: Crab robot WIP 11 by n8walker23, auf Flickr I think (e) is looking the cleanest, so this scheme is applied right now. Most fitting to the contest would be (d) i guess, with mostly white and yellow. But I think it is a good idea to use the turquoise of the mindstorms box somewhere else in the model so the box does not stand out too much. This leads to a solution like (b), but I think, that is too colorful. What are your thoughts on that?

[ MOC ] GLaDOS and Wheatley from Portal 2

Hi, everyone! I hope, your Christmas was really merry. I've got a little present for you. Model of one of the best antagonist in videogame history. Genetic Life and Disc Operating System - GLaDOS And also one little nasty moron - known as Wheatley Originally I've this model out of real bricks lo-o-ong ago and it was hanging above mu desk ever since. This year I finally decided to digitalize it and, in process, make some improvements. Most important of which are - upgraded wire-like things on the sides, improved stability, ball-joint at the neck for better poses. And, which I am really proud of, I managed to add an offset for her yellow eye - so one white side is a bit wider, than another. Thanks to the ball-joint - GLaDOS and Wheatley's head are easily interchangeable - if you prefer this worst of all idiots to be at the head of your facility) If you want to build this model yourself - I've made instructions: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-168045/CogInTheMachine/glados-and-wheatley-from-portal-2/#details

  11. Blacktron I rises again! "You are now entering the Blacktron sector! This is the absolute limit of the Classic Space quadrant! You have been warned!" ...sorry about that. Had to get the legal stuff out of the way first! Anyway: Blacktron long-range fighter "Buzzard" Above is the two copies of the Blacktron XL-15, which are now dubbed the "Buzzard" type starfighter. So back in January of 2023, I decided to convert the XL-15 spaceship from the film "Lightyear" into original Blacktron colors. The blue became yellow, and white was turned to black, with all the trans-green removed. I added laser blasters under the wings where some technic pins are and put a different control tile in the cockpit. I was thinking about building a second ship, but then again, getting some of the parts from Bricklink was a total pain due to extremely low quantities in the needed color. (I'm talking about you, 3 x 3 wedge plate in yellow!) Thankfully, I bought one too many of both kinds of the yellow 12 x 3 wedge plates, as they are very rare as well with only one store selling four of each kind in the USA, which made making the second one easier later on. Blacktron command vessel "Executor" In addition to the two Buzzards, I wanted a Blacktron capitol ship. I had no ideas of my own ship, so I spent most of the afternoon of 10/5/23 taking Benny's beloved spaceship from The Lego Movie and corrupting it into a twisted, evil version. I revamped the nose, removed the expanding wing assembly and snub fighters. Of course I then recolored it almost exclusively in black and yellow. (some gray was unavoidable!) I armed it with a turret on the top rear where the sensor array once was, and put the commanders office below where the wing mechanism used to be. To keep with the one-word naming scheme of the original Blacktron, I borrowed the name of Darth Vader's Super Star Destroyer, decreeing this ship the Blacktron Executor. I struggled to think of an engine flame color that fit OG Blacktron, but eventually trans-light blue was selected. Since the wings don't extend anymore, I added a third section for figures with a turret on top in their place. The rear-most section lifts away, but the rest of the roof sections are supposed to fold open. The ship seats seven troops and 1 commander. Blacktron giant robot "Destructor" For this model, I used parts and ideas from the Eternals line's "In Arishem's Shadow" set 76155 (body / head / upper legs / upper arms) along with claw from the old Agents 2.0' "Robot Attack" set 8970. The lower legs and laser arm are (modified) holdovers from the "Build Better Bricks" Iron Giant instructions. (I need to fix the laser arm's elbow joint but I keep forgetting!) Blacktron "Shadow Runner" space car Recently, while I was on my Blacktron kick, I decided I needed a vehicle for the commander. So, after a few false starts with other models, I dusted off this old TRON Legacy Light Runner model and went to town modifying it. The model originally was made five years ago (was 2018 really that long ago?!?), and is based off the two-seater TRON set 21314 MOD that was made by BrickBrosUK and posted on Brickset here. The name Shadow Runner is a play on the Light-based vehicles from TRON. Blacktron minifigs These pilot minifigs are from the GWP with back printing (gotten from Pick A Brick) while the commander is mostly from the Series 19 Galactic Bounty Hunter CMF. NOTES: To be honest, I've had these built since at least last November, but finally got around to taking all these pictures just yesterday. Thoughts? EDITED 3/12/24: real world photos added and text changed around.

The specs: - 12 legged walker - Driven by 2 Lego Technic Large angular motors - Powered by Buwizz 3.0 - 1 Technic L motor powers the deployable spinning Lego buzzsaw - 1 Technic S angular motor to power the Lego arrow shooter Sorry Lego purists, but I had to use some non-Lego parts in this design: - 4.7mm aluminum tubes front run the width of the robot providing lightweight articulation of the legs in lieu of plastic axles - Stainless steels axles are used throughout the driveshaft due to the inherent limitations of backlash and breakage caused by the Lego plastic axles - Small nuts are threaded onto the upper leg pivots to maintain the connection as Lego bushes simply cannot retain the axles given the duty cycles.

    SPACE DROID XL - SP081

Greetings! Let me present my newest Lego Ideas project. This is an homage to the droids included in Classic Space sets on the late 80s. The robot comes with a flyer and a rover which can be hold inside the unit's body. Also, the head serves as the cockpit. Blacktron Droid Factory Lego Ideas

Back in the 90s I used to think the Message Intercept Base was a Futuron Base diguised as a Blacktron one. Many times I thought how it would look a true Blacktron1 Base. So I designed this project and make something more "mean" more "rebelious" a base with modules which could be used both as rooms in the base and also as parts of vehicles or ships. I wanted to take the interlocking modular concept used by Lego on the Blacktron 1 sets to a new level and giving a fresh look to the retro space subtheme. Also give them droids which actual look like automata units for different purposes like spy units or guards. Enjoy it and if you like it, give it support. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/0f9caab4-1d4a-4207-ae82-60b6cc8b61d9

    [MOC] Raideen

Hi all, for once I haven't built a Go Nagai design, but chose another classic robot design by Yoshiyuki Tomino, who famously designed Gundam afterwards. This super robot is Raideen : Raideen is one of the earliest transforming robot designs. He can change into "God Bird" : (I'm still not totally happy with God Bird's beak design rendered in Lego, though - any suggestion appreciated !-) More pictures on my Flickr page : Enjoy !
  18. Hi all, still working on my "Lego Nagai" super robots ! I've recreated some of Go Nagai's less popular designs, which are interesting nonetheless : This one is Gakeen, it was a kind of follow-up for Jeeg, also featuring the magnet articulations but in a weirdly proportionned toy. Super long legs and very short torso are very unusual. The colour scheme is a good reminder that war is stull raging on in Ukraine, and that it should stop ! This one is Groizer X, a robot that could transform into a kind of weird plane. It was very popular in Spanish and Portuguese language countries. Las but not least, Govarian is a transforming robot that featured in a cartoon with many similarities with Gundam and Macross/Robotech. The series' sponsor requested that the main robot should have a head similar to Mazinger's ! The robot could be upgraded with an additional armour in the shape of a transforming jet / spacecraft. You'll see more pics on my Flickr pages ! Enjoy !

    Robot Command Center beaks

The Robot Command Center is a controversial Classic Space set and in some senses was a pioneer set. It was the first classic Space set which wasn´t neither a Vehicle, nor a Spaceship and even a proper Base. The design pushed the limits of 1984 Lego pieces and yet the structure was solid. Making aside the fact this set had many cool features, as many 80s space sets, it had some problems. The awkward "feet", the too low grabbing arms, the unreachable boxes, but many CS fans consider its worst flaw the two large canopies on each side of the robot. I´ve seen for years several updated versions of this set as Neo Classic Mocs and either remove the "beaks" or leave them as a mere adorn. In either case the problem wasn’t confronted. Following this logic, the solution would be leaving the canopies, but making them useful. Give them a purpose, to make them more than just a decorative feature. Some examples would be making them tool boxes, containers for equipment like jetpacks or drones, covers for hi tech sensors, an extra pair of arms inside the covers or defensive mechanisms. I focused on the last option and designed modern weapons which fit inside the canopies and leaving intact the rest of the original design as much as possible. Giving the RCC a worthy upgrade for this retro set. Link https://www.facebook.com/astronautagris/posts/508673584111677

    [MOC] Jeeg Robot

Hi all, I'm still working on my "Lego Nagai Collection" (pun intended) so here's my Jeeg Robot MOC - a poseable figure standing 20cm tall. It was interesting this time having those sexy legs to render, very different from the other Super Robots designed by the Japanese master in the seventies ! The original toy had endless possibilities thanks to magnetic joints, and got many weapon add-ons as well as a horse - so kids would collect them all. Here are the Mech Drill reactors for instance : I still feel compelled to dedicate a version to the Ukrainian people - those cartoons spoke of war and actions but the heroes were always fighting for freedom and peace. You'll find more pics on my Flickr album : Enjoy !
  22. I just bought the Zurg Battle (set 76831) recently. I didn't like the legs, as the look from Toy Story 2 / Buzz Lightyear of Star Command design for Emperor Zurg was (in my honest opinion) much better and more iconic. Here we see the finished model. Zurg has an orange 2 x 2 "boat stud" in trans-orange on the bottom for his rocket pod feet that you can't see in this shot. "...and then a little mini-fig shouted 'He's got no pants on!' Emperor Zurg suddenly realized the tiny mini-fig was right, and than the he has been tricked by Buzz Lightyear. So, Zurg re-atomized the poor fig into a compressed cylindrical pile of ash with his finger laser and declared it "No Pants for Emperor's Day." This is the ending scene from "Emperor Zurg's New Clothes", a popular bed time story for children on Planet Z. (As far as we know, no minifigs were actually re-atomized making this shot.) In actuality, this is a behind-the-scenes look at how Zurg is assembled. All the parts needed to remake the legged Zurg from Lightyear into Emperor Zurg with skirt as seen in Toy Story 2*. (NOTE: The old-style round 2x2 Light bluish gray tile should have the printed "Z" Zurg logo from 2010's Construct-A-Zurg.) *TS2-film accurate Ion Blaster not included, as I couldn't figure out a design for the tri-barrel that was in scale. The purple cheese slopes and printed tile go above the wheel arch used on the front of Zurg, while the extra 2x2 plate round goes where the Mixel ball-joint connectors went as the original hips. You can download the free LDD file for the skirt model in completed form here from Bricksafe. (Side note: If you thought I said "Zurg" a lot in this post, you're right: I said it twelve times including this last one!) Enjoy the MOD, and comments, questions, and complaints welcome!
  23. Codename: Jaktmaskin 60 "Ulven" Intelligent, swift, and silent, the Hunter attacks with lethal precision, showcasing a diverse range of tactics and weaponry to take down survivors of the uprising. They use LMGs and Rocket Launchers at a distance and their deadly bladed right arm in close combat. — Generation Zero Wiki And here's another Generation Zero build! I am proud of the result! The reference images are under the spoiler:
  24. I've been in love with Generation Zero, Avalanche Studios' first person, co-operative shooter about teens in 1980s Sweden surviving a robot invasion. It has a very distinct art style, not unlike that of the famous Swedish sci-fi artist Simon Stahlenhag. I feel like there were some tensions between him and Generation Zero's Devs, but don't quote me on this. The Runner is - hopefully - the first in a line of GenZ-inspired MOCs, and also my first finished MOC of 2022. Procrastination have been wearing hard on me for the past few years, so I welcome any kind of positive change! The reference images are under Spoiler:
