  1. There's a new LDraw update, version 2014-02. For the people here that don't like to read, here's the page that sums up all the new parts. If you do like a little more information, the following text sums it up pretty well: Source It also includes my first parts
  2. Hi, I have sometimes found myself baffled by parts so I thought a topic for parts which have been "phased out" or "replaced" would be helpful Here are a couple examples of what I mean A completely changed design which upset a few fans of the older space themes. Old New A change to the base which no longer allows connection the old dragon/crocodiles mouth sized hole Old New There are more and I am currently researching and remembering the few I have noticed in the past few years. (If this topic is inappropriate or felt unneeded by any of the staff members feel free to contact me or take it down)
  3. I wonder if anyone has the same problem. I went to UK and bought several sets and went back to my country few days ago. Today, my son and I will building and found that 1 of the set has a missing piece. I went to lego customer service on the website. I have found that they have they have changed the missing part service. Now it was virtually impossible to contact LEGO. I could not drop them an email. I cannot even report that there was a missing part on the customer service site as I was not in one of the country. The ridiculous part is that they ask me to return to the local retailer... they do expect me to fly back to UK to return a set with a missing part. I always paid a high price in LEGO compared to other toys (as it is very expensive in Asia) as I found their post-sales service impeccable. Now... I think they are just another company that tried to save cost at the expense of the customer. Has anyone having similar issue?
  4. I know that many MOC builders buy large sets, such as the Unimog, 9398 Crawler, or Mobile Crane Mk II, just for the parts. Others use BL to get parts - many BL parts for sale seem to be parted out large sets current and recent. For BL, you pay a premium for someone doing the parting-out, but you only need to buy the parts needed. My question is whether one uses all of the parts or some significant fraction if you by a large set. For example, of the 2600 parts in the Mobile Crane, how many are useful for MOC creations - all, most, or half? Should I be buying large sets, or just BL the parts I think I need. thanks for replies and comments!
  5. There is this small possibility that I go christmasshopping soon in Oberhauseb Centro. Legostore included. I've always wanted to know what makes a Legostore special. We don't have one in the Netherlands so I'm pretty anxious to see what it's all about. Now what can I expect? Just a toystore filled with most of the legosets we allready know? Do they carry every set? Do they carry minecraft or cuusoo? Do they sell seperate bricks? Are there any amazing discounts? Is legoland germany worth a visit? Anyway... Should I bring my wallet...? I will be going with my girlfriend. Any tips to distract her and getting the most legos I possibly can..? :-p Any other tips? Thanks!
  6. Quick question? Have all the parts available in LDD been made by LEGO in all the colours available in LDD? For instance, in LDD there's a white scythe blade available, but I can't find it on Bricklink or anywhere else.
  7. Hi everybody! I don't know why, but I can't find the "55976 - Tire 56 x 26 Balloon" part in the LDraw database. You can see this part image in the attachment. Could anybody send me a link to download a .dat file with this part? Thanks in advance!
  8. So I was looking through all the interesting new Mindstorms stuff, and I've found a number of parts that are of potentially great interest to us Technic builders. In this thread I will discuss the three major new parts that have been seen so far, aside from the new P- brick and the sensors, obviously. 1. New 3x11 panels (the ones in the tracks.) Part#: 6031916 What it is: This part is a redesign of the existing 3x11 curved panel. it has 8 new pin holes, and should be much easier to connect to other parts. Potential use: Crane boom, unibody vehicles. This part would be good for a variety of things that need to be strong and curved, like the boom on a crane, or a vehicle with unibody construction. However, the additional pinholes make it a bit uglier. Hopefully, it will be produced alongside it's older sibling. 2. New track cleats. (the red bits on the track.) Part#: 6036424 What it is: a (hopefully) rubber cleat that attaches to the newer style track pieces. Potential use: Tracked vehicles, joysticks. This part would solve many problems with the new tracks, like poor traction, and noise. This piece could also be used to add detail, or make more comfortable seats and joysticks. It could also be used in robot grippers. I just hope they make them in colors other than red, cause that will stand out in any model vehicle. 3. Ball caster. Part#: 6023956 What it is: a steel ball that fits in the female torque tube joint. Potential use: Thrust bearings, ball casters, maybe roller bearings. This piece is a bit larger than a zamor sphere, and apparently fits fairly tightly in it's housing. The intended, and obvious use, is as a caster support for robots. However, I have thought up a different use, as a turntable support bearing for a large mobile crane. a set of maybe 8 of these units would be placed around the turntable in a rough circle, and take some of the load off of the turntable. This is a smaller, and cheaper solution over using Hailfire droid wheels and soccer balls. Hope you like.
  9. Hi, I need pictures of lego parts (mostly technic) with white or transparent background. I need pictures of all details. Saving it from bricklink is bad idea, because of different quality (mostly low) and different background (white, studded panel and others) As I understand better way to do it is to make renders of details. I need fast method, dont want to render each detail for minutes or hours. Please help me: 1) which program to use? 2) may be someone already have this pictures (write me p.m.) and can give me them for commercial use?
