  1. Hi everyone, This is my next project. Its a replica of the brand new Agusta-Westland - AW196 Air ambulance. This model is a lightweight transport helicopter designed to be able to achieve missions in about every possible environment. This is also one LEGO project, and I have tried to take lessons from my previous helicopter MOCs. At this point I have achieved the most difficult part of the MOC. The complete control center of the rotor's head is done and perfectly functional. But before, have a look at the global model in it's WIP state: The global shape is coming out of the bricks actually :) On this picture you can see one joystick standing lateraly in behind the pilot seats: And you have the same on the other side of the aircraft. Other point of view: So, what's the goal? I already build previously helicopters with onboard command, even realistic commands. It was pleasant but not always really practical. So this time I decided to make use of a pair of joysticks, one on every lateral side. The left joystick controls the cyclic movement of the rotor. When pushing it to the front/back the swashplate incline to the front and back (forwards and backwards translation of the aircraft). Pushing the joystick up and down makes the swashplate incline left or right (lateral movement of the aircraft) The right joystick controls: the collective mouvement of the rotor when pushing it up and down The pitch of the tail rotor (command is operational, tail rotor still to build) Actually, the main rotor is perfectly functional with large amplitude movement of the blade. This amplitude was a real goal of this MOC, because I found lots of beautiful build on the net, but not really one with real large movements of the blades. Other view of the rotor head, i'll explain you all of this later ;) On the other function point of view, the BB already is placed in front of the rotor in order to assure a good wheight repartition on the 3 points landing gear. I will place now a gear box with to reversible commands on it : one for the landing gear in/out command and one other for the winch, that actually does not exist. There will also be one main clutch gearbox for the rotors, in order to be able to use of the other function without rotor rotation. So, that's it for now guys, this is the first take of it. Building time: about 20 hours actually. Any comment or idea will be appreciate.
  2. Hi everyone. Here is my entry for this contest. As always i've build this with/for my childrens and as usual this model hass to be safe and secure for them. This said, i've been asking for long what to build for this contest. I didn't have that much pneumatics elements and i do thought that my chances with this contest were proportionals to the number of pneumatic parts i owned. Until i had a closer look at 42053 set... So i present here my vision of what could be a Volvo Handler (i think volvo didn't build this kind of machine) here it is: it is a very simple Moc. My main goal has been to integrate the powerfunctions elements (1 BB + 1 motor) and get the maximum playability with the Moc. I do use the battery pack as the main frame assembly of the model. this way, i think i realised one good design work on it. They are 3 pneumatics functions: 1- Main arm up and down 2- Fork tilting 3 - Fork thooth up and down. Also, there is one direction with HOG on the four wheels.This Moc is designed to be playable and fun to use. It doesn't need more function to scratch that goal ;) The functions work pretty well and the compressor is a very pleasant feature on a Moc like this one. The arm movement has a good range of action and is particulary powerfull due to the large pneumatics cylinder i used. ( i didn't have any other o:) ) Here is a back view. round design for the mudgards, a color scheme that fits with it's great sister 45053, custon stikers (official stikers sheet): On this view you can see the commands (3 orange commands) : the two backwards are for the arm movement and the lateral one is for the fork opening Detailed view of the fork i used. It is obvisouly possible to connect a regular bucket at this arm end: And once it is opened Detailed view on back design with the official Volvo stikers on it and the rounded mudgards In conclusion this Moc come perfectly together the 42053 Set and as well with my last Volvo crane truck.   3. Finished MOC Do you remember my Reform Metrac H7X ? Reform also produces the Muli: As the project of my Citröen DS doesn’t really progresses, I do this project in WIP, to compensate. ^^ The functions will be close to the Metrac ones: 4WD with a 4 cylinders fake engine Steering with 3 modes Front and rear PTOs And I add: A pneumatic pump to add pneumatic tools Central joint (it’s only the front axle on the Metrac) Openable cab with a lever and a pump actionning a pneumatic cylinder. The best function! But this MOC will not be manual, because there is not so much room in the chassis. (I think it’s possible, but the playability will be extremely bad) So it will be remote controlled, using the BuWizz. So: Driving by 1 XL by axle Steering: 1 servo by axle. To have the 3 steering modes: a M motors controls a PFs switch -> it changes the sens of rotation of the rear servo, or it stops it. The pneumatic pump is powered by a M motor That was the start: And now I’m here: On these two pictures, you can see the rear PTO. On this side, the pneumatic pump: And here is the mecanism which allows the possibility to get 3 steering modes: The chassis is very, very compact. I think you can put an elephant on it, it will not move at all. For the tools, I think I’ll make a pneumatic arm (The pneumatic cylinders of the Mercedes truck would be very helpful, but I don’t have this set) And for the front I don’t know, so if you have ideas, tell me!
  4. This MOC was built after 2 other attempts, 2 years ago and these didn't work. (I can explain a little the reasons if someone is interested) The design was difficult to do because of the round shapes. But I think the result is so good. You tell me ! The functions are : Left track Right track Blade Rotation of the turret 1st section of the arm 2nd section of the arm Moving the bucket Rotation of the arm (right/left) Opening/closing the clamp (pneumatic) All the functions are powered by M motors, except the rotation of the turret. But there are 9 functions, and it is possible to control just 8 functions with the IR system. How it's possible ? It's quite simple ! A gearbox allows to choose between "rotation of the arm" or "opening/closing the clamp". The chassis is very compact. It has 4 motors and 1 IR ! The mechanism of the rotation of the turret is not visible (the turret is too compact ! ^^) The rotation is quite fast (not too slow). Here you can see the motor actioning the 1st section of the arm. The motors of the 2nd section of the arm and the bucket are placed inside the arm. The last motor is placed in the middle of the chassis. It actuates the gearbox and you can choose the function to activate. With the clamp, there are a bucket and forks.
  5. Hello Eurobrikers! Here is my last project : a public works flatbed van. Basically this Moc is a full manual edition that can be upgraded with Power Function elements. In this presentation you'll only see the PFS equipped model. Here it is: This model is quite simple. It has manual function as direction with HOG, opening doors and front bonnet, a working 4 cylinders fake engine, a lift able flatbed, a winch and lots of details. here are some views of the design: right view of this van with the manual command of the flatbed lifting (the black 12T double bevel under the bed) This front view show the design of the front end, lights and bonnet cover: From this side you see details like the fuel hatch and a gearbox.... ? ....why a gearbox on a manual stuff ?......hé hé. still some patience ;) First we have to have a closer look at some details: easy accessible command of the bed and of the winch (simple friction connector used here) The winch with a storage box, chains: The engine bay, detailed with a big fan at the front end and a hood holding system: (Note that the front lights are PFS ready) At the rear end, the bed articulation with the opening element of the bed that fits perfectly even when bed fully raised. There is also a detachable toolbox: The back view that I didn't thought to speak until now: Nothing really special I must say. PFS ready rear lights: There is also a little crane based on a LEGO set that I reviewed and which I brought some modifications like a track train perfectly working on smooth surfaces Some other views of this excavator: I added a rotation command and modified the gears in the tracks: So.... I said in this post that this model has been designed to be manual and upgradable with power function. Once put in place the M motor does the job and motorised a reversible gearbox to lift the bed. But that's not all. Who will find what this medium motor does in addition to that? Ps the answer is hidden also in one of my previous Moc ;) So who's going? Regards Steph

After all the buzz about tiny MOCs pushing themselves into first row and the community-stress that came along with it, I thought it would be a good moment to raise a question that invites you to tell something about how far your LEGO-hobby - or should I say addiction - goes. Hoping that sharing some light-hearted personal stories will add to the community-spirit. The main question boils down to the following: Do you actually go as far as to get down on your knees to play with your build to feel how it performs or inspect how it behaves while pushing the buttons on your RC? And of course, any other story or anecdote that shows us how far your addiction goes is welcome too. For instance: LEGO has cost you your marriage and you're fine with it. Share it with us. Anything non-AFOLs won't understand. Let me be the first to speak out. I'm a push-along type of guy. I can sit with my build for hours, pushing the suspension over and over again, seeing the gears function over and over again, and then suddenly, after re-thinking one aspect over and over again, I take half the build apart to refactor only a very small substructure of the entire thing. And when the whole build is - once again - finished, the delight of the accomplishment is tremendous. Until I start testing the suspension again, or start pushing the car once more to feel how the steering behaves. Then the whole process starts over again, and I'm perfectly happy with that.
  7. Hi everyone ! I'd like to present to you a new creation for the 23rd Techlug contest, it's a telehandler. It has 4 wheel steering with HOG and a working steering wheel, and a gearbox (Erik Leppen's system : http://www.techlug.f...topic1099.html) with 4 features : - Stabs - Boom lifting - Boom extending - Fork (or bucket) tilting The goal : to make a fully functional and easily playable telehandler, which can be motorized adding the lego technic 8293 power functions pack.
