The Tides have Changed by Danny-Longlegs, on Flickr The uniform fit loosely in certain places. The shoulders sagged softly, unsupported. But Avery hadn't expected tailored attire like the elaborate clothes and fine linen the family was accustomed to. That stage of Avery's life was over--for now. Avery had less muscle tone than the usual boy of his age, and looked far younger too. His big eyes and soft cheeks were yet unhardened by life. No salt clung to his wavy caramel hair. Though it had recently been hand-cut, his bangs fell unceremoniously over his eyes. He brushed them aside as he stepped through the "Portail de la Victoire" La Portail de la victoire was a decorative arch marking the entrance to the docks from the fortifications. The gateway served as a reminder of Oleon's supremacy on the waves, and their countless victoies at sea, as they sought to tame these new and wild lands in the name of their gods. That's what the statue meant to most residents of Breshaun, but to Avery, the gate held a different meaning. As he stepped through it now, in his new uniform, his pack in hand, thee gate was the threshold between his old life, and the new. Not more than a year ago, the "De la Jambe-Longue" name would immediately be recognized in any high society event as the name of one of the most famous artists in the king's court. Daniel de la Jambe-Longue had made quite the positive impression on the late King Stephan II, who commissioned from him many a portrait and religious painting. And Daniel was skilled... but proud. His cleverness served to be his undoing, when he slipped symbolism into what he assumed would be his magnum opus, which conflated a clerical rival of his with the tyrannical Titans who came before the gods. They say that pride comes before the fall. Now Avery stood under the gate, between the bustling docks of Breshaun, and the neat and orderly sea-side fortifications. Between the streets that held Avery's old part-time residence, the de la Jambe-Longue family's Breshaun townhouse, and the cobbled road that held his new residence, a wooden bunk and some dirty tanned cloth in a brick and stone fort.... That is... until the HMS Titan-Slayer was returned to working condition. Avery was not to be a land-based soldier. He'd enlisted in the navy, and would be a member of the crew aboard the famous pirate-hunting vessel known as "The Titan-Slayer." But the ship was still under repairs after a run-in with its primary quarry, the infamous pirate lord "Reynard LeRoublard." The New Oleander pirate had made a name for himself terrorizing the seas of the Old World, and headed east to be a founding member of the Sea-Rats, but then abandoned them on Bastion and returned to the west. Unbeknownst to many, but suspected by Avery, upon the Pirate Lord's ship, "the Titan's Tithe" was none-other than the escaped Daniel de la Jambe-Longue. Avery was determined to rescue him. Only by confronting the Order could the de La Jambe Longue family restore their once grand name... and truthfully, he feared for his safety and well-being. Daniel was family, and family was everything. The Tides have Changed by Danny-Longlegs, on Flickr So Avery stood there, below the stone of the arch, contemplating his future. He turned. He walked up the winding path to the fort. Fates change as often as a woman changes clothes, Avery mused. ~~~~~~ So, this is my first Freebuild and Introductory build. Gotta get that 25 DP! I won't licence it, as that feels like a waste to me, but I might later on if I'm feeling flush. It'd be a Small Art and Culture property if I did. I know this comes into play for determining analogous unlicensed properties in Breshaun's total Trade value, so I'll leave this here as well as on the Breshaun Settlement page. Forgot about my "First Free Licence" so It's now licensed. I've finally joined! Comments and Critiques are more than welcome. I don't often build historical structures. I've always been more of a sci-fi fan, so any recommendations are more than appreciated. Bonus pic of the Titan-Slayer's Captain, Etienne du Coeurgris standing below the arch. Unlike Avery, he is far more decisive about his direction, for his is the way of the gods, and the way of the law, and the way of light. Hello people! This is an adaptation of a medieval MOC i created a couple of days earlier. It was a Crusaders vs Falcons siege but i couldn't miss the opportunity of an Oleon free build (and the 10 DBs that come along), so i adapted it accordingly and now you can see a State prison located in Mainland, Granoleon. Note that in my LEGO life, i have always regarded blueco...eeeehrm, Oleon Empire as a spiritual successor to the Falcons faction . As always, thanks for watching!

David Beau Lune's background: As David enters Breshaun he feels like luck is on his side, he feels good and vaguely at home. He finally arrived at the town the girl of his dreams is supposed to live. At least according to an innkeeper in New Oleon. Eager to find her he wanders around the port thinking about where to start his search. "Is this the end of my journey?" he wonders out loud. "Orrr the beginning of an *hic* adventurre?"; a drunkard said. Allthough the guy was clearly the most drunk person David had ever seen, what the man said sparked something in David. Cheerful her replied: "Or the beginning of an adventure indeed, good sir." The guy didn't even seem to hear or understand him and continued on his not so steady way. David, tired from the journey, decided it was time to get some rest in an inn. Further down the road he saw a soldier standing, he surely must know where to find an inn, David thought. "Excuse me sir, can I ask you something?" The soldier turned around, his serious look turned into a smile in the blink of an eye. The soldier looked like a young lad, younger than David, younger than he had expected. "Ofcourse sir." The soldier said. "I just arrived here in Breshaun and I am looking for a good inn to get some rest, do you know of a good place?" David asked. "Sure, I'll walk with you sir, it is just around the corner from here." "Thank you very much! My name's David by the way, nice to meet you." David extended his hand. The soldier took the shake: "The name's Avery sir, Avery la Jambe-Longue." --- This is my first build in this time of age. Quite the change from Star Wars and sci-fi, but I'm glad the way it turned out. C&C appreciated! Bonus pics:

Hello again, oh wait, that's ahoy again, of course! Today, another ship for the ever growing Oleander fleet. Proudly presenting: The 'Infatigable' Infatigable's keel was laid down four months ago in the smaller of the two 'Pontaniou' basins in Quilbignon, right next to La Recouvrance. But as the latter was launched shortly after, work on Infatigable was interrupted due to a shortage of timber after hurricanes Hilda and Stepho had devastated large parts of New Terra, as especially Le Bellan was in dire need of construction material. But work was resumed in April, and now she was finally launched and immediately attached to the New Terra Fleet. Infatigable is the fastest warship ever constructed in the Royal Shipyards in Quilbignon - a schooner, fast, agile, and equipped with sixteen 12-pounder long guns - lead-ship of her class, a majestic sight. She's on her way to Breshaun now, ready to indefatigably pursue her adversaries, and to enforce Oleon's rule wherever needed. about: Like most of my ships, Infatigable started with a look at the ship classification chart, as I needed ideas for a 5A1. But finding examples for large schooners of war turned out quite a quest. In fact I didn't find any reference ship that would be larger than a brig, but smaller than a corvette, so this is more of a fantasy ship. But nonetheless, Infatigable is easily one of my favorite ships so far. I'm really happy with her hull, which took me quite long to shape. As I wanted to build her as low as possible, I 'cut off' plate by plate, changing her base several times, until reaching what I think is a minimum height for me on this build. Again, she's a flush deck ship with no cabin box - just like Gladiateur - but I hope her side galleries being ornate blinds is presented better here. Some numbers: the length on her waterline is 88 studs, length over all is 116 studs, and her beam measures 21 studs. As always, she's buildable, and with proper rigging and some flex tubes support her mast should carry the weight of her huge sails IRL... but then, I won't build her Thanks for watching C&C welcome! Vive le Roi!

...And so the search party has begun entering the deep jungle of Ile de Tyche in search of the Pirate Lord's hidden gold mine... This MOC was created to advance the campaign of Oleon at Ile de Tyche (formerly known as "The Trap"), in search of the Pirate Lord's hidden gold mine. CC welcomed as always! Stumbling and falling our men press forward with the help of a scout and the adamant resolve of Hugo D' Offren. Always guarding Hugo, Tom "Juggernaught" Jones with his dual "cannons". Font free photo (i havent decided if the blue baseplate helps as font or not) As always, thanks for watching!

After almost a month, mostly occupied by work and fending off nightmares and denial about rigging, making sails and sewing, i proudly present you the merchant sloop "Crete". Pictures were taken from my secondary source of photographing (mobile) so photos aren't that great. But you can get the idea. This is my first attempt at a brick built hull and the famous Dunkleosteus hinge technic. I believe it works wonders, regardless my omission to sloping the stern. For those you think the hull is too tall (i had my reservations too), imagine it 2 bricks lower due to cargo carrying when put at sea. Regarding the tiller design, i haven't found a better solution, so after 5-6 iterations, i just went with the one you see on the photos. Finally i wanted to brick-build the main mast too but i ran out of round 2x2 bricks way too soon so out of my frustration, i used the mast of the recent TLG pirate ship nearly unchanged. BL orders are on their way so i guess my next ship will be more personalized. Inspiration came from all the great photos and designs and articles about sloops of the 18th century. For those who want to take their try on handmade sails and sewing their ship's rigging, i have an advice: Don't despair! In the faaaaaaaar end, it will look nice. Until then, get a very nice desk lamp and fortify yourselves with determination and patience. There were more than a dozen times i wanted to discard the whole project during the rigging phase and i cant believe there are sane people that build scaled wooden replica ships. Oh, i nearly forgot it! Credits for the Eltina flag, goes to KB for the design and Kustom Bricks for its implementation. Anyway, I believe this is a 3T trade ship so if everybody agrees i will stick to this category, unless the board at the Admiralty promotes it to 4T More pictures follow (some more on Flickr as well) and as always, thanks for watching!

A continuation of Blackdeathgr's In the jungle MOC. As always, comments and criticism as well as suggestions on how to improve my building skills are appreciated. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Groaning, Captain Anthony Genaro attempted to raise his arms as he slowly opened his eyes. The last thing he remembered was the battle between his ship, the Pride of Poseidon and some pirate schooner that came upon them in the night. He was helping the crew of Death's Fire, gun number 2, after two of her members were killed by some grapeshot from the pirates. "Wha.. what happened, what's going on?" moaned Genaro, a constant pounding in his head preventing him from thinking straight. The sounds of sporadic gunfire, music, and men shouting didn't help either. "Captain's awake," Genaro heard familiar voices whispering, and then in his left ear "Sir, it's me, Benjamin Leon, sir." "Yes, yes, of course" groaned Genaro in reply. "Well, sir," Leon continued "well, we was fighting fine until the block struck you on your head. After that, with no other officers, the ship kind of fell apart and we was boarded." Capture and Rescue by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr As Leon told the rest of the tale of their capture and imprisonment, Genaro looked around. About half his crew was still alive, chained in groups of three or four men with a drunken pirate guarding each one. The remaining pirates were busy dancing around a bonfire, celebrating their victory with looted liquor and "my hat!" exclaimed Genaro. "Those savages have taken my hat!" "Aye, they looted anything of value, and what they didn't take they destroyed" Leon responded. At this, Genaro sat silent, reflecting on his present predicament. Capture and Rescue by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr "Did you hear that?" said Leon, interrupting Genaro's silence. "Hmn?" Genaro said looking around. He had been so deep in reflection that he didn't hear Leon. "I just asked if you heard that noi..." but a cry of "fire" followed by the roar of muskets drowned out Leon. Taken completely by surprise, the pirates were quickly overcome by their attackers, loosing all but one man in a few moments. Capture and Rescue by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr As one of the marines moved around, bayoneting the fallen pirates to ensure they were dead, the leader came towards Genaro. Genaro was barely able to take in the man's strange appearance, two pistols and a steel breastplate, before Genaro was free and being helped to his feet. "Tom Jones, at your service, sir" the stranger introduced himself. Of course, thought Genaro, "Juggernaut" Jones, one of the most feared explorers in all of Oleon. "Captain Anthony Genaro, deeply in your debt" replied Genaro. "But I was told you were exploring Tyche with D'Offren." "Which I am, sir" said Jones to Genaro, "but I'm afraid we can't talk much more here, we're simply a scouting party and I expect the rest of the pirates to arrive any moment." Capture and Rescue by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr At this, Jones went off to help his men search the pirate camp for anything useful while Genaro picked up his hat and sword from a fallen pirate. "Look here" said one of the men, "Blessings of Zeus with you, man" cried Jones to the sailor. "It's a map of the island! D'Offren will put this find to good use!" Capture and Rescue by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr As the explorers and the liberated seamen prepared to return to D'Offren's camp, one of the marines called out "and what should be done with him" gesturing to the sole surviving pirate. The rest of the crew fell silent while Genaro picked up a pistol. "Piracy against a ship belonging to the Crown of Oleon is punishable by death" said Genaro as he filled the pistol with powder and rammed a bullet down the barrel. "And unless any man can vouch for his innocence, we shall administer swift judgement before we leave." None spoke up, not even the pirate who simply stared at the ground as Genaro raised the pistol. "May Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades have mercy on your soul." said Genaro. Capture and Rescue by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr

Baron Nicolas, his brother Baron Pierre and their friend professor Cartier are very close to discover the Fountain of Youth. Professor Cartier: According to this map, the fountain should be right here... Baron Pierre: There is nothing here, we are at the edge of the island and in front of us is only an open sea... Baron Nicolas: Hm, very strange, the map is supposed to be correct. Maybe, it is beneath us, but now we must find an entrance to it. The Fountain of Youth by Nikola Đurić, on Flickr

Hi guys, This is an entry for Oleon's Coronation Festivities challenge. Ceremony at the General Breshaun Monument King Philip I and his wife Queen Beatrice are busy people these days. News of the royal couple's planned trip to Breshaun has caused great excitement among the local populace, and upon their arrival, the entire town is now eager to present itself in the best light possible. Breshaun is experiencing a boom these days, its growth is literally visible, and a lot of prestigious buildings and structures have been finished just in time for the royal visit. Among these is the new monument to honor General Breshaun - the city's first governor - errected in the middle of the main market square. Now, for its inauguration a ceremony is being held - of course attended by King and Queen. And it seems that despite the early morning hours, a lot of citizens are afoot and want to welcome the royal couple, and proudly show them what the people of Breshaun are capable of creating here in their thriving city. about: This started out as a small, simple statue, but I got carried away, and this happened. The cross shaped base and the cobblestone pattern around the monument are meant to be an homage to general Breshaun's insignia, represented on the city flag - which is based on this part here. What else? Well, minifig creation and placement is really not something I enjoy in LDD. Apart from that, building this went astonishingly smooth, and I'm quite happy with the result. I hope you enjoy it, too C&C welcome! Vive le Roi!

Aaaand it's me again, As threatened promised, here's the MOC I was referring to when I posted this scene. A River Runs Through It Captain's Log, April 29th, 616AE: In the early afternoon we finished setting up camp at the beach, and immediately afterwards I had two armed scouting parties sent out to make a perimeter check. Also, the royal geologist from Granoleon - who was assigned to my company by direct order of the Intendant Général des Finances - insisted to have his mission started right away. So I had him escorted by a 2nd platoon, and they went off into the jungle to take mineral samples from various locations. Let's see what they find. Not that I could be bothered. I'd much rather see a fresh water source located soon... and if somebody could catch some fish, that'd make my day! about: Again, not really much to tell, pretty basic stuff. It's a dull prospecting scene, but to add some fun, I tried myself on a little creek with some tiny (not so rapid) rapids and some fishy action. Still not too familiar with rockwork, but I hope it doesn't look too boring. C&C welcome! Vive le Roi!

Ahoy again, Just leaving this little scene here, as it's needed for my next MOC. Plus, it will serve as a starting point for next month's expedition into the interior of 'The Trap'. Claiming New Lands Captain's Log, stardate April 29th, 616AE: I've sent two of my men up the beach to gather some perimeter info. Meanwhile, the rest of the company has just finished transferring our equipment from the HRS Granoleon to the beaches. She's about to set sail again, back to Breshaun, and leave us here. We'll hopefully see her again in a month from now. Until then, we'll be on our own out here. But our orders are clear: We are to officially take possession of this island, which is commonly referred to as 'The Trap', and set up a base camp in shore sight. Once this is completed and secured, I will take my company of Royal Marines inland to find out what is and what isn't true about the rumors that some pirate has made this island his home. We are prepared to meet resistance, and I'm confident my men will prevail! For Oleon! about: Not much to say about this. The ship isn't new, and the ocean is a once more enlarged version of the one I've used before, and it only had LDD crash three times The rest isn't much larger than the picture is wide. Again, this is only meant as a start for something to be hopefully continued next month. I hope, you can enjoy it a bit, anyway Vive le Roi!

The "Empty Barrel" is Wilhelm's first ship that he built to begin running Rum for the Oleon nation. Phred took time out of his adventures to inspect the new ship and decide if it was sea worthy and would stay afloat running trade for the King. /Special thanks to Phred for actually coming over and literally inspecting the ship, helping improve the design and giving me pointers on how to assemble it. So yes, that is his fig really inspecting the ship!

Ahoy mateys, A ship - who would have guessed?! Presenting: The 'Scimitar' The Scimitar is a rather unusual sight in the waters of New Terra. She is what most people these days would call a Xebec – a ship type clearly not common to the shipwrights of the Madrice Peninsula. And she wasn't built in Oleon. In fact, her true origins lie to the far south. She was bought by the Royal Shipyards from merchantmen who traded in Granoleon. Merchantmen from the Mokolei Empire, where expertly crafted Xebecs are used vastly as warships as well as traders. The Royal Shipyards were impressed by the Scimitar's cargo capacity, but astonished by her protective capacities. Arming a fast trade ship that heavily is something not very common outside the Rogian Sea, where pirates are a constant menace to merchant ships. But with the ever increasing trade volume here, more pirates are likely to try finding opportunities to prey on unprotected traders in the Eastern Brick Seas, also. So what better opportunity to learn new concepts and adapt to the new times than to buy a veteran ship, that excelled under such conditions. The Xebec design is now being studied extensively by the Royal Shipyards' master shipwrights, and the Scimitar has been given Oleander colors. Now she is ready to sail under her new flag. And - as always - IFS shaming about: This one was a tough one to build. Building the angled poop deck, and attaching it to the rest of the ship - without gravity and the magic capabilities of the opposable thumb - was, well... difficult. So was designing the latin yardarms (or what they are called) Credits for the 'eye' design go to Dunkleosteus. Some numbers: She's 92 studs long at the waterline, length overall is 135, and she is 23 studs wide. She's also my first ship to feature completely snoted decks. For now her intended class is a 5F, but I armed her a bit heavier than the average 5F, so that might change with the new ship list. I hope you like her, C&C welcome! Vive le Roi!

Ahoy, mateys! This is my entry for Challenge II A. Shields and Daggers The race for New Terra is heating up. More and more land is being claimed every day. Fortune seekers from everywhere are heading out looking for riches, and settlers follow. But most newly established settlements are very short lived, perrishing as quickly as they were set up, either due to a lack of supplies – or defensive capacity. Everyone knows the terrifying stories of the very first settlement attempts of the Mardians and Eslandolans, everyone knows the consequences of neglected protection. New Terra isn't quite the paradise it looks like. So in his infinite wisdom His Majesty the King of Oleon has decided that all colonizing efforts undertaken by the loyal subjects of the realm will be determined, but cautious ones: The claim we lay to the land will stretch no further than the reach of our swords. So as we claim the Île de Zeus for our glorious Empire, His Majesty has dispatched additional King's Guards to the island. Their task is not only to crew the forts that are being set up along with new settlements, but also to establish a multitude of smaller gun batteries along the shores, shielding the Île in all directions. These defensive positions surely aren't enough to repel a fully-flegded invasion, but they are certainly capable of dealing with smugglers, pirates and other predators. And when push really comes to shove, 'La Royale' will always fly Oleon's colors on the waves. Small patrol boats might not be seen as mighty swords, but handled with determination and skill, a dagger can do serious damage, too. about: As always, everything except for the vessel's sails can be build. The water is a delicate matter, consisting of many rows of 1x2 plates linked by 1x1 round plates wherever possible. This is my first ever attempt at rockwork, and it only caused me to despair and curse a high two digit number of times... Not sure if it's to the liking of the experts among you. Sorry for the back of that cliff looking so dull, but all I managed to come up with in order to 'close' it were slopes. Oh, and the boat's curvature is done with hinge bricks, all held in place by a multitude of flex tubes and clips, most of them well hidden below the deck. I hope you enjoy, C&C welcome! Vive le Roi!

Since ages well forgotten, atop rock formations one can usually find plenty fortifications. One such fortification is the examle below. And where the rock left something to be desired as far as defense is concerned, fine Oleander engineers filled the gap with their awesome sloped wall ™ technique! So, behold the result and let nobody say that Oleanders don't know how to defend themselves! Roleplaying aside, i made this attempt at a sloped fort as i wanted to see how well do sloped walls blend into rock formations. Inspiration came from the great venician fortification at Crete. A big thanks to those that contributed their ideas while on WIP status (Cpt Genaro, Mpyromaxos, Ardohoth etc) More on Flickr. Thanks for watching!

Ahoy ya scurvy sea dogs, Another day - another ship, this time: The 'Gladiateur' Gladiateur is a veteran brig of war, built for La Royale about a half a decade ago by the Royal Shipyards in Quilbignon. For most of her service life she was stationed in New Oleon, but now the Admiralty has decided to assign her to the New Terra Fleet. In preparation for this, she recently underwent an extended overhaul, during which her hull was structurally improved, and she received an armament of sixteen 12-pounder long guns. Experienced and well armed, Gladiateur is now entering the arena that is the Eastern Brick Seas, ready to strike devastating blows to her adversaries. And in comparison to the IFS: about: Yes, those really are prefabs! Well, in fact only the upper bow/stern elements are, the rest of the hull is made of curved slopes. Gladiateur is based on an older design, but being sort of the only of my prefab ships, that I really liked, I thought she'd deserve her place here in BoBS, and renewed her. Gladiateur is no spectacular ship, but she's a fighting workhorse, right what's needed on the waves these days - I hope you can like her despite her simplicity. C&C welcome! Vive le Roi!

Ahoy, laddies! As the Lord Chancellor said, there will be ships. But let's start small, shall we? Presenting: 'Le Protecteur' Being a light topsail schooner, agile and with a shallow draft, Le Protecteur excels at patrol duty in difficult waters, anti pirates sweeps, and reconnaissance missions, freeing La Royale's much needed heavy hitters for more challenging ventures. Crewed by experienced men, and captained by an able sea dog Le Protecteur will surely master the tasks ahead of her. about: Some of you might have recognized the resemblance to La Recouvrance. That's no coincidence. But Le Protecteur was in fact the ship to be launched first, and La Recouvrance was modeled only afterwards. I just never came around to post the ship, and the actual need to do so only arose... well, recently. As always, all can be built. And for quite some time I did have an urge to really build this ship... but then other ships happened Just FYI, her length at the waterline is 57 studs, LOA is 85, and she's 18 studs wide. For now she'll be a class 3A, let's see if that changes with the next ship list. C&C welcome! Vive le Roi!

Eslandola galleon in sight! Breshaun life stopped for a second, some heads turning to the port. Indeed a proud galleon entered the harbour. White painted, green flags on top. The ship didn't steal its name, it was surely a prince. 3 rowboats left the "Prince of Stedor" and headed for the quays. Meanwhile, some Oleon officers and royals arrived at the MAESTRO commerce house, as it was here where the rowboats would go to. Lord Damaximus was looking around him. Breshaun is such a nice port, so vibrant ... . But also so full of soldiers. Everywhere he looks, he sees marching guards. Luckily MAESTRO is always welcome in Breshaun since they opened a cider shop on the quays. The best cider in the world, made in Elysabethtown from the apples of Felipe de la Manzana. Giving a gift to an official for the new king Philip of Oleon. Long may he reign! ------------------------- C&C welcome!! I am going to licence this as medium commerce house. Am I right that Oleon pays me back half of the licence cost as it is located in Breshaun?

Citizens of Oleon welcome King Philip I and Queen Beatrice and wish them, long prosperity, health, happiness and good luck in their difficult task..!! "Whoa, steady girl," said Captain Anthony Genaro as he navigated his horse around workmen doing their part to ensure an uninterrupted flow of ore reached the surface and ultimately the smelters in Breshaun. Taking the utmost care not to disrupt anything, Genaro lead his horse towards Harold Kimber, whose black suit made him easily identifiable among a sea of workmen. As Genaro approached, Mr. Kimber turned around and cried out a traditional Oleander greeting. "Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades be with you Captain. I trust you had no difficulty in finding this place." "And may the gods stand by you, Mr. Kimber" replied Genaro. "And I'm not sure how anyone could possibly get lost. I must have passed five different carts hauling ore into town, not to mention the ruts in the road must be five inches deep from all the traffic." Genaro paused for a moment to dismount and managed to get his sword stuck in the stirrups in the process. After a few oaths and some assistance from Mr. Kimber, Genaro continued. "I've never been so pleased in my life, well, never so pleased by land, that is." "You're too kind," replied Mr. Kimber with a small bow. "And I'm sure you'll continue to be pleased once I show you last month's records. Come, they're in the stone structure behind you." Mr. Kimber continued to talk about the operations as they walked, mentioning "pumps constantly jammed with rock" and "veins that go on for miles," and though Genaro smiled and nodded at appropriate times, he was barely paying attention. But who could blame him? After all, his risky investment had paid off, he was just beginning to learn of the extent of his new wealth, and in a few months time, he would have enough doubloons to invest in new ventures. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ As always, comments and criticism are welcome . More photos are available on my Flickr. Overview Captain Genaro and the honorable Mr. Kimber Workmen extracting ore from a valuable vein. This is my entry for Challenge II - Defending Yer Claims, category B. This event took place during the initial wave of exploration in New Terra, before Oleon established a permanent presence on the island. Most revered chieftain, there have been trespassers on our sacred island! They came from one of those huge canoes with sails big like the clouds in the sky. We met a band of their warriors in the tall forest and they were clothed in blood! They were also carrying magical blowpipes which were bellowing lightning and smoke at us. Our brave warriors were at first stricken with fear of the magic, but when we saw that they could die like any man and that their blowpipes were not as fast as ours we rallied under the ancestral cries of war and defeated the invaders. Their companions paddled back in their small canoe to their big canoe with sails like clouds. The abomination left through the mists for other waters. May the Ancestors help us to keep our waters and this sacred island safe from more of these filthy invaders! Probably Oleon’s endeavour of pacifying Île de Zeus will not be without bloodshed either... The whole scene Closing in on the enemy Brave warriors Reload! Reload! I see them!
