The forever project

Months of collecting pieces is finally showing a bit, on the 8285 tow truck. Changing this set, as much as I can, to a white model, with black or red, thought it would be fun...... Next task, how to suspend it without it looking to high and staying with a solid front axle, struggling with this alot. Suspension is a bit of a mess, but working on it. I have kept all the original pieces seperate, I'm not sure why but my brain said I had better lol. -

Hey guys new to the forum but not to lego. Just started a new Youtube channel where Im speed building all the old sets i got when i was a kid. They range from about 1990-2009. Architectural Salvage Company I had been looking at the Town Hall and decided to rework it into something more useful and appropriate for my town. So I imagined that it been demolished mysteriously overnight and the former Mayor had launched an Architectural Salvage Company that was old selling bits and pieces from the old building. I only used parts from the original set (with the exception of a handful of 2 x 2 Dark Grey Tiles and the Roof elements) and although the Town Hall was a parts rich set it's quite limited for pieces to do an interesting facade. There's not enough jumper plates to inset the windows so I ended up using the 1 x 6 rail plates as window footings. And there were insufficient 2 x 3 Windows to complete the facade so I built a window mounted AC unit to hide the missing piece. I changed the SNOT Date to read 1931 which I thought was more appropriate to this design. Here's a shot of the rear Inside the former Mayor is being interviewed by the local press and is being asked why so much of the original facade and interior detailing of the Town Hall is now being sold for salvage. He claims he has receipts for everything. Upstairs we have a fine collection of windows and doors Despite the large size and the high piece count of the original Town Hall it was actually quite difficult coming up with an interesting alternate design. Something different. In the middle of June I was at a Drag racing contest close to where I live. At this competition there were a few front engine dragster, built like in the old days, where the driver sits right on top the final drive..:D The ones that in the 60:s-70:s were running on alcohol got the nickname "Moonshine Dragsters" This is my attempt to recreate one of those old school dragsters. The biggest challenge was to be able to create something that looked like a tubular frame. I admit that it is a bit fragile, but on the other hand not as fragile as you might think. Anyway - I can live with that since my creations are made for display and not meant to play with. I long tried to implement steering but it always ended up to bulky and heavy. So I settled to get the looks right and ditch it. Instead i focused more on the details to make it as real looking as possible. I hope I came fairly close. Cheers! My very first Lego Cuusoo project got just published! Ed Roth´s Mysterion Show Rod http://lego.cuusoo.c...deas/view/58699 Please give me some feedback and comments. I will tell you more. And please go to see and click the "Support"! :) ************************************************** Here's some details about making of the "Mysterion". I have tried to learn new techniques. The frame with holes is 3-wide while the front section is 5-wide. The body is 7-wide but the interior is 4-wide and the bubble is 6-wide. There's also some SNOT design, for example the mismatching headlights, V8-engines, side panels, rear lights and top hinges. And as in the many recent creations there's no visible studs. It is also kind of "modular" as seen in the picture. This was fun to build and The Mysterion is also so far my most advanced creation.
