    MOMOD: The Black Pearl

[pid][/pid] 162B Ahoy! It had been on my mind for some time to MODify the Black Pearl (because it was such a small and poorly fitted ship). Now I have found the time - but probably the result needs to be discussed. So here is the MOMOD (which is My Own MODification): Here we are facing the first challenge related to the Black Pearl: It is mostly black, at best dark grey and dark brown in a few parts. This means: YOU DO NOT SEE ANYTHING ON THE PICTURES! And it looks a lot like something the monster fighters might be after. Nothing more depressing than a combination of black and dark grey in the world of LEGO... This is why I took the pictures outside - just to catch some rays of sun and make it look a bit better. Then you can see that I added a deck and four cannons (however, the standard red-painted wood is too lively for the Black Pearl...). I changed the bow a bit: But then I basically stopped. It was great fun to MODify the "Queen Anne's Revenge". Unfortunately I am not really happy with the Black Pearl. May this serve as "warning" or "inspiration" for you to try something else
  2. Hi all, here I would like to share my full PF MOD of 42000. since I don't like put the battery box on the back like the official design. I replease the engien with the 'green' electric power. ^-^. I use 2 L motor for power, 1 servo motor for steering, 2 M motor for 2 actions. please see the movie, some pictures and LDD draft file. Here is the LDD file Video: http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XNTY4MjEwNDc2.html http://player.youku.com/player.php/sid/XNTY4MjEwNDc2/v.swf Some pictrues: Thanks.
  3. This is another superheroes modular building. I used a 16x32 base plate like '10218: Pet Shop''. This model is based on '76005 : Spider Man: Daily Bugle Showdown' and '6873 : Spider Man's Doc Ock Ambush'. Front The DBC: Front by Hay Core, on Flickr Front and Side Side and Back I used two propellers of Dr.Doom plane for huge vents. Entry doors are modified to look like DBC seen in the comic book. 1st Floor: Dr.Doom passed through the metal detector 2nd Floor: J.Jonah Jameson's office. JJJ meets Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark. 3rd Floor: Dr.Ock experiments on Iron Fist. Venom and Beetle on the roof. 4. Hello, sorry if this would better fit in a general thread, but here I go. Together with my lover we both have a 9398 to play around with. I've upgraded mine with 2XL motors instead of the usual L ones. It works really well even without any differentials. But now we want to upgrade the other one to 4XL motors. Now we ain't too sure about how to do it without destroying how the truck looks like. Switching the motors wasn't much of a change, but now with 4 XL, 2 B.Packs and 2 IR it might gets a little cramped. So does anyone have done something similar? Even a 4XL crawler base would be nice to look at, didn't found any :/ And if someone has some kind of build for a motorised Unimog that would be nice to see too. Like details and such. Well.... I'll keep this thread updated as we progress... :P

    Spider-Trike redesign challenge

I recently bought 76014 Spider-Trike vs Electro mostly for the Electro minifig. While Spidey's trike isn't bad, it looks a bit bulky on the underside, so I set myself the following challenge: using only the parts in the set, MOC a land vehicle for Spidey. Having parts left over and using building techniques TLG probably wouldn't approve of were allowed. Parts not included were banned. This is what I came up with: Play features include pivoting front wheels and elevating rear wheels. I didn't include any flick-fire missiles; I don't like them. Apologies for the rubbish photography. My only camera is my phone which is positively precambrian. Thoughts about the MOC? Suggestions?

    4432 Garbage Truck Extended

I present to you my MOD of the 4432 Garbage Truck, we call them Rubbish Trucks in Austrilia. I used two sets to extent the body and added a second set of wheels at the rear for extra heavy duty rubbish collection. More images at my Flicker http://www.flickr.co...tos/technic70s/

    Bank & Money Transfer - 3661 MOD

This building (originally set #3661, Bank & money Transfer) now has a rear staircase and a hinge like in Medieval Market Village. The rear of the model contains a water cooler on the first floor, (with a neat cup dispenser trick) stairs to the upper level, and a expanded Vault on the second story. Also, the skylight has been moved to the rear roof and it does not open anymore. The front section contains nearly the same components as the original set. The first floor has a non-break-away ATM , desk, waiting area, and sorting tray for packages, while the second story contains the entrance to the Bank vault. Here is the outside of the bank. (front view) I added a new rear to the building, something the original model was severely lacking. (The pin is for the hole in the sides opposite the hinge, it keeps the building closed when you want it to be.) The interior of the model. I especially like the cup dispenser on the water cooler. This Bank model will look nice next door to the upcoming CREATOR set #31026, (Cafe & Bike Shop) wouldn't you say? LDD file for the Bank MOD: http://www.mocpages....1397074788m.lxf Comments, questions, & complaints welcome!

    MOC Japanese Restaurant

Hi, my name is Mike and this is my first post. Let me know if I do anything wrong. I've been reading posts on this forum for a long time and thought I'd start getting involved. My latest project I've completed is a Japanese Restaurant based on the Fire Brigade modular set. I produced a video showing the details of the design. I'd really appreciate it if people would have a look and let me know what you think. I really respect the opinion of the builders on Eurobricks so it would be great to get some feedback. Thanks, Mike.
  11. Hello! I noticed that with the pieces of the set 42008 is almost possible to build the fantastic 8052 container truck. After some changes here is the final result. I also added the tilting of the cab and some aesthetic side. I hope you like it! See you soon with an "original" c-model;)
  12. Hi, Here is another MOD of this faboulous model (#60053): LLD file will be shared when brickshelf.com will be operational. Just have a look on this stereo render (if you have 3D glasses of course) If some are interested, I could then write a note to realize this kind of pics.
  13. Hello! I am currently working on heavy MOD of 8297, I have sucessfully changed the front part of the model including a gearbox run by M motor, so the model has motorized winch and second output (probably for door lift), as well as servo for steering. I didn't had problem with adding XL for propulsion. I am keeping the original suspension of 8297-B and RWD layout because I am too lazy to invent my own :D The XL propulsion output goes to 20T-reduced to 12T, then again 12T and back to 20T and then standard 3L diff. I think it's enough reduction for XL... But now I have noticed a glitch... when standing without pressure on suspension, the yellow shock absorbers push to the steering arm (part 57515) so much, that it generates too much friction between steering arm and CV joint (part 32494), making one wheel turn slower and sometimes almost stop. This happens also when I pick it up in the air - one wheel turns (the one in the "gear" side of differential). If i slow down the fast spinning wheel, then the other that was slow, start to spin faster as if there was no problem. Also, if I apply pressure to shock absorber, so the CV joint and universal joint go straight to the differential (instead of being in angle), the friction is less and speed of both wheels becomes somewhat similar. Here's two pics of rear suspension from underside, that might help to undersand: http://www.brickshel.../dsc_2139-2.jpg and http://www.brickshel...-B/dsc_2137.jpg As I thought that this is due to the pressure shock absorber is creating towards the steering arm, I lifted the shock absorber one stud higher, so the angle is wider and accordingly, lower pressure (ofc, it made the chassis flat instead of the lifted rear as with 8297 B). But the problem still exist. With current setup I noticed, that when driving or checking wheelspin while they are lifted in air, they turn fine when "driving" backwards, but loose sinergy and start driving with gear crack sound, when "driving" forward. So the question is - can this be "cured" keeping the 8297 rear suspension setup, maybe by replacing a part (differential?) that might be faulty? Or this is going to happen anyways (some natural situation with XL)? I had the nasty sound of slipping gear crack with my previous MOD - 9395, but in the end, I managed to make a drivetrain, that doesn't crack (http://www.brickshel...V2/dsc_0487.jpg) . Now I hope to get an advice, as I don't have experience with XL motors, as well as suspended axles, and maybe I am doing something totally wrong... thanks! Lauris
  14. Recently I was thinking about BrickLinking all of the parts to build my own 8275 set, but instead decide to just build the B model, and also take the opportunity to change the color to all black, grey tracks, and some red bushings, which I thought would be more interesting. Also made some modifications to improve functionality and also some small additions as well. The model The biggest modification was to the supports for the tread - the original specified shorter, axle 4 supports with gears, not free to rotate, and the treads kept getting hung up on the gears. I changed this to axle 8 with two pin connectors to allow free movement of the treads over the supports. Design flaw probably due to the limited part availability on B-models. You can see the wear on the pin connector due to chain links rubbing over the parts bottom view, one roller built according to instructions, the other my mod Added some lights and glow-in-the dark tiles to enhance playability image recorded with the lights dimmed Also had to add some parts to the undercarriage to strengthen the structure - the new parts are the grey beam and the two black beam 3L, for cross bracing. Of course, not everyone was happy with the new color scheme disclosure - some images PS'd to adjust contrast and saturation, color balance, and clean-up the background BTW, this is my first posting of an actual build on EB, so any feedback / comments welcome!
  15. One of my favorite pastime activities is eye-ing LEGO sets for a long time, scrolling through the instructions online, and in my mind doing inventory, while thinking "Can I build this set with my current pile of old/loose bricks, without taking any sets apart". This (and my then 3 year old) is what pulled me out of my dark ages. I have previously done the Death Star, a Y-wing, an AT-ST, a themed Slave 1, Anakin's starfigher and the Malevolence. For a long time I have been wanting to buy/build the 75025 Corellian Jedi Defender-class Cruiser, but felt it too pricey, and I didn't think I had the bricks for it, without pulling averything apart. Khatmorg's beautiful MOC found here, got me to rethink the project, so behold. WIP: Structure and hull WIP: sides added Finally built - front view Cockpit open Rear view I don't have nearly enough dark red bricks, so a lot is substituted with normal red bricks. The escape pods are partly from the LEGO City Cargo Terminal set, and even though I hate stickers for MOC-reasons, I actually think the red/white checkers works ok for this set. I'm really happy the way it turned out (even though it is nowhere near as awesome as Khatmorg's version). I have also tried to incorporate LEGO's technic-handle. I get why TLG does this on some sets to increase stability/playability/swooshabilty and so on, but I actually think it's a shame as you limit the play-options you would get with having the set more like Khatmorgs version where there is more room for minifigs. And I will probably be MOD'ing it further away from the LEGO model in the weeks ahead. Upon finalizing the build I found this picture: ...so now I'm pulling everything apart and building it in white/grey/blue instead. (Yay more build time).
  16. In preparation for Halloween, I've added Power Functions to my Ghost Train. Ghost Train - Power Functions by dr_spock_888, on Flickr Replaced the front boogie with PF train motor: Ran the wire through the firebox. Installed a battery box in the prisoner car and IR receiver in the crew cab. Optional: A magnetic coupler can be added to pull other trains. 17. [full gallery] I have modified the locomotive from the Lone Ranger, Constitution Train Chase (Lego set 79111) to add working driver rods. I had to completely rework the pilot to make everything work, but I think the final design is pretty good. The new model is the same width as the original, one stud longer, and it has working rods. The mechanicals are packed in very efficiently. The front wheel just barely clears the cow catcher, the side rods just barely clear the crossheads, I came up with a clever bearing to fit over the moving pilot axle, etc.. With the moving rods I think this engine is shaping up to be pretty sharp. A larger tender would be nice, and one of these days I'll take a stab at that. The one tradeoff (and I'm not sure it is much of a tradeoff) is the fact that I had to convert it from a Ten Wheeler to a Mogul. Here's a shot of the modified engine on a curve I've prepared instructions for the modification and have already uploaded jpegs to brickshelf (I'm working on finding a good home for the .pdf version). There are two versions of the instructions: V1 is for building the modified model from scratch, V2 is for retrofitting the completed model after it has been built. To build this modified model you will need the parts that come with Lego set 79111 and the additional parts listed on the last two pages of the instructions. Note that this build requires 4 non-Lego pieces for the driver rods, available here. [full gallery]
  18. Lots of building action for this Halloween. Take a ride on the PF motorized Ghost Train with Monster Wagon carrying monsters, ghosts, zombies, ghouls out trick or treating. You wouldn't want these guys getting out and roaming your neighborhood. Spooky in the dark. Ghosts don't seem too happy locked in the back. Contest Entries. Guess which is for which contest. Happy Halloween!

    Modding Lego Space Craft

Every Lego Star Wars fan has come across that one set that, while it may be good, could be better. This is a stream to share your modded Star Wars sets and ships, not for MOCs, but the sets in which you have decided to improve upon what's already there.

Lego 10224 MOD-ular Town Hall XL

Hello EB-members, i always only put original sets together, mostly City and Creator. I admire people who create their own Modular-like buildings... I do not have those building skills (yet) but with expanding the 10224 Town Hall by 2 x 12 studs i learned a bit about the way these buildings are made.. It was so much fun and i'm really proud of the result.. I know, it might not be too special for others, but for me it was the first step to more MOD's and hopefully, MOC's....!!! The building is made out of 2 sets, and is widened by 12 studs on both sides..so total wodth is 56 studs now! The building is also taller due to the longer and higher tiled roof on the 2 x 3 pillars. I created some extra rooms in the building and also the tower is a lot taller. I started with the first floor, and worked up. The extra pillars were the most difficult to integrate. You can find more pictures on my Flickr site. Greetz, LegoSjaak!

MOC / MOD / WIP Negotiator

This is basicly a combination of a milenium falcon cockpit, a sith fury, a lot of weapons and my imagination (this isn't star wars anymore :P ) Sith Fury: I didn't like the cockpit of the sith fury but I looove the shape of the wings..... it looks sooo evil :P so I used that as a starting point and even kept most of the wings original Milenium falcon: bought it dirt cheap for parts and the cockpit, been looking at a lot of sets that had the right cocpit just can't get enough of building things that I wasn't capable of when i was a kid the pilot: (made him look as evil as possible) the ship: (interior is still a work in progress) -foldable wings -lots of firepower -foldable landing gear there is room for 4 minifigs or 2 minifigs and cargo 3 compartiments: -place for the pilot -place for a gunner -place for 2 minifigs or cargo in the back pics of the inside will come soon, those are still a WIP Added some extra engines ;) + view on the cargobay door I'm still trying to figure out what to do with the baseplate to display the ship so ideas are always welcome Thanks for watching so far ;)

    [MOD] Chi Cragger

Hi guys ! I made some modifications to the excellent Cragger, and I'm gonna show them to you. First, I filled some gaps : I added another neck armor, a "throat armor", and a pelvis armor. I also lengthened the shins, and the tail. And I added a tongue (which was not easy to attach). The grey/olive limbs and the black body look weird, but I can't put black limbs because of the friction bones. :/ Also, I don't really like the Metru leg armor for the pelvis, since this is the only Bionicle-stylized part on this MOD, but I don't know which part put instead. Do you have any ideas ? Main picture : Brickshelf gallery I hope you'll like my MODs. C&C are welcome, and if you want to reproduce those modifications, don't try this at home, this may be dangerous, please post pictures, I would be very glad to see it. :D

    MOD/MOC - Toy Museum

I made a Toy Museum using '9509 : Star Wars Advent Calendar' for interiors, '7848 : Toys R Us Truck' for the 1st floor and 'Power A Nintendo DS accessory' for advertising boards. I've bought 'Star Wars Advent Calendar' for my boys. However, they never play it again so I'd like to control and organize it. Unfortunately, the building is smaller than my expectation. I could not display all of them. I got most of bricks at the Lego store pick-a-brick section; Pro: Saving money Con: The lack of color consistency Toy Museum - Front by Hay Core, on Flickr Front and Side Back and Side White bricks were running out so I added some color bricks. This building will take up residence in a street of superheroes. I made each face of Joker and Harley Quinn for that. 1st Floor Star wars room. As I mentioned before, 9509 is used for the interior. 2nd Floor Harry Potter & Pirates of the Caribbean room. It's a wax museum. I copy a phone booth design from video game: LEGO Batman 2. It is too big but I really want to make it for Clark Kent minifig. There are a few more pictures on flickr. Thanks for looking. Comments, suggestions and grammar corrections are more than welcome. 24. After seeing Eurolock's Helms Deep mod/moc I decided I had to do my own. TLG's original set was lacking, in all respects, so something had to be done. Any feedback/comments would be great, thanks a lot! You can check it out on my flickr:
  25. This is the life of supervillains during economic depression. The economic recession makes them richer. This model is based on '6857 : The Dynamic Duo Funhouse Escape'. Front funhouse by Hay Core, on Flickr Side Side Back 1st Floor Ronbin investigated their hideout. Minifigures series (warriors group or animals group) go on display on the first floor 2nd Floor Supervillains have a party. Robin and James Gordon are disguised as singers.
