My entry for Brickscalibur 2021 - Rogues and Outlaws category. Hello everyone! Third MOC in the series of little Sarophas. This time arriving at Ravnsborg Castle, the stronghold of the Baroness and her henchmen. Far to long, these thugs have been taxing the local villagers to the breaking point, only to fill their coffers with their hard earned money, but no more! Heinrich and the Hatted Huntsmen are scaling the tower walls to gain access to the castle, in an attempt to 'liberate' the Baroness' treasure hoard. The Ruins of Green Mire Keep I present my MOC of the ruins of an old keep. A Knight and his guards hire a local peasant to lead them to these mysterious ruins known for strange goings on. With the reissuing of the Black Falcon’s faction in the current Blacksmith set and in the lego creator 3 in 1 castle set, I thought it was the right time to give the Black Falcons back a proper fortress. For me such a fortress has to be based on the iconic fortress in set 6074 from 1986. Lego already did a re-release in 2012, but this was an exact copy of the 1986 set. Now 10 years later, with modern lego bricks we can give it a fresh new look up to today’s standards. Like in the orginal set, in my build the front of the fortress has 2 octagonal towers surrounding the drawbridge. This special tower shape gave the 1986 set it’s iconic look, so this shape was a must to include in this MOC. In the back of the fortress, the defensive walls in the corners are also half octagonal shaped to continue this unique look. Also like in the original in the back on the right side, there is a square tower with a pyramid shaped black roof (with the old style slopes). In the back on the left, I deviated somewhat from the orginal layout to create much larger living quarters. The yellow-black wall in the watchtower in the 1986 set is replaced by a whole yellow-black dining room on the first floor and an attic on top in this section. The positioning of the roof and chimney are pretty close to the orginial, but way bigger. There's a lot of detail cramped up in a 40x40 brick footprint so it can be used as a display piece on a shelf. But like the 6074 set it can open up completely and every function becomes accessible. Play functions: a drawbridge a forge a kitchen a dining room an attic for storage with pulley system a market/shop a jail a water well a secret wall I’m still waiting on some parts to finish the live build, so therefore I finished it first in studio and created already some renders. @LittleJohn and I worked together to create another Everdell scene, this time based off of the Chapel card. We built it in about a week working on it sporadically. John primarily handled rockwork, animals and some small details, while I built the chapel and helped finish the landscaping. John also handled the photography and photo editing. It’s always a treat building together, and I’m super pleased with how this came out! Heddal Stave Church is the largest stave church in Norway. It was constructed at the beginning of the 13th century. I visited the church in 2019. Since then, I have been thinking about building a LEGO model of the church. But I had many other things I wanted to build. So it was only this year that I got time to build it. My latest creation, hope you'll like it As Radoslaw entered the city gates, it felt like stepping through a portal to a different dimension. The relative peace was broken by the loud bustling of the city streets. The cries of merchants peddling their goods and the sounds of craftsmen hammering about, reverberated off the tall walls. Smells of smoke, horses and spices penetrated his nostrils. Radoslaw could see guards positioned along the battlements, scanning the market square for any suspicious activity. Dromos was noticeably anxious, snorting and pulling the reins, Radoslaw had to work hard to calm down his horse but was sure that it had alarmed the guards. The fast-paced clanking of metal cut through the sea of noise, as a figure appeared from the crowd. A large man covered in heavy plate armour marched menacingly towards them, firmly grasping a hefty axe in his left gauntlet. Radoslaw knew that if he got arrested, someone would surely recognize him. He closed his eyes, gathered himself and reached under for his dagger..

On this day in 1219 - 803 years ago, Dannebrog (the danish flag) descended from the sky during the battle of Lyndanisse (modern day Tallinn). According to the sources, King Valdemar had rallied his vassals and gathered a great army. No less than 1500 longships farried the crusaders to Estonia Upon landing, the crusaders began contructing a castle, the so called "Dane Castle" or Taani-linn (Tallinn) in Estonian. During the construction, the crusaders were met by many negotiators, whose task it was to stall construction, whilst the Estonians could muster an army of their own. During the evening of June 15. 1219 - just after supper, Estonian forces began a surprise assault from five directions. Chaos and panic struck and the crusaders fled from the attackers. At the point when all seemed lost, a flag descended from the sky and a voice promised the danes victory if they wielded it, and so it came to be. Or so the story goes.. In reality it was the kings wendish ally, Vitslav I, Prince of Rügen who managed to lead the counter-attack, that changed the tide of the battle. The oldest written records of this myth date to the early 1500's and seem to originate from two different sources. The other one mentioning the battle of Felinn (modern day Viljandi, Estonia) in 1208 during a different crusading campagin. The myth closely resembles other myths of divine intervention and divine legitimacy, noticeably that of Constantine the Great. According to this story, the sign of the cross appeared in the sky alongside a voice, proclaiming the famous phrase "In hoc signo vinces" meaning "In this sign thou shalt conquer". For a king, this story definitely has a better ring to it. I should also mention that some do consider the Wendish or Baltic Crusades a genocide. I thought it was worth mentioning, as we tend to look at history with a cultural or national bias. The whole Dannebrog myth really embodies this. I do find the story to be great and inspring and healthy for our national identity, but with all things, we owe it to ourselves to be honest and acknowledge the grim history of this period and the part our ancestors played in it.

It's been almost a year since I posted my tavern, so it's time to introduce the latest MOC. This time it's a magician's tower, inspired by Goethe's "The Sorcerer's Apprentice". On one level of the tower, the water mage's apprentice made a "small" mistake in the summoning. The rooms were flooded and he just made it onto the balcony. The apprentice has not noticed that on the other side, the Kraken summoned into the tower is about to break out. The other mages of the tower have now gathered to defeat the beast. The Fire Mage has summoned an elemental, while the Storm Mage has taken to the skies and throws the first bolt of lightning towards the Kraken. The black mage has summoned a wraith to fight for him while the white mage is still gathering his power. The dryad has grown a tree so her elemental can fight at the right height. Despite the uproar, the astrologer has not allowed himself to be distracted from his studies. His power is certainly not needed that much... Meanwhile, the church has sent a stoic inquisitor and his two guardsmen. The water magician herself is at the market and hasn't noticed all the hustle and bustle. The tower is approx. 85cm high, unfortunately I don't know the number of parts used. The tower will be integrated into my medieval town, probably on a hill opposite the church. Hello ! I'm here to share my latest medieval MOC, the Alchemist's Stilt House : The roof can be removed to access the interior : Additional pictures can be seen in the Flickr album, and if you want to seen even more angles of the model, or see how certain things are built, you can see the 3D model on Mecabricks : https://www.mecabricks.com/en/models/1k2qyEWX2E0 The story of this MOC began about two years ago, when I began working on a "little" diorama inspired by Skyrim (yeah, when it comes to medieval creations this seems to be my main inspiration, but I love this game so much ). I love the idea of houses built over a body of water, like Lake-Town, in The Hobbit, so I decided to build a scene based on the city of Morthal, and more particularly the Thaumaturgist's Hut : I got pretty far, and even ordered some parts to build the model physically, but at one point I got stuck, I couldn't find a good idea to build the roof, and I ended up giving up on the model. Here's the latest update, from between mid and late 2020 : Near the end of 2021, I remembered this MOC, and thought it would be a shame to let it gather dust, even if it's digital. I really liked the idea of the stilt house, so I decided to make some small changes to the model and submit it as a Product Idea. After all, medieval models tend to do well, and I felt this was different and original enough to make an interesting set. So I reduced the footprint of the model, changed the colours to something more lively, added some plants and animals, and more importantly, I found a good idea for the roof ! I think I got really lucky with it, because I found a rather sturdy and reliable technique that leaves almost no gaps : I don't know if it's been done before, but I don't recall having seen something like that in the past. I present to you this new 2021 moc with a medieval theme. The moc rests on two 32x32 bases and was designed to be placed side by side with the moc of the medieval windmill that I made in 2018. I made a medieval bridge and a watchtower. The bridge rests diagonally to the bases using a somewhat complex but effective technique. The watchtower is developed on three floors and is made with the walls that can be opened at the rear to be able to observe the interior. Inside the entrance door is a secret hatch that can be operated with a lever to drop a minifig into the underground tunnel that leads to one of the bridge's water streams. Through this function a skit was born to give a story to this moc: "High on the Watchtower, the lookout soldier, unaware of his future fate, watched the chariot coming to the Tower with the King's trusted knight. His job was to collect a chest full of gold for the King to deliver to the castle. A shrewd thief, however, had discovered how to steal the chest through a secret trap door that led to the tower and which also allowed him an escape route from the conduit beyond the bridge by passing through the cold waters of the river. Lego Halloween – Custom Minifigure Welcome, friends! My new Lego Custom Minifigure – Hallow, a Sealed Mystic from my Lego Custom Undead Universe. I would say it better suits for Lego Halloween Theme. Thanks to LEGO for such a beautiful pumpkin. I used it repeatedly in my Lego customs. Lego Halloween is certainly an interesting topic for lovers of tickling their nerves – inhabitants buried under gravestones, bats, ghosts and transparent cubes. And certainly an indispensable attribute of the holiday and traditional decoration is a pumpkin lamp. Let's say «thank you» to LEGO for such a beautiful pumpkin. I used it repeatedly in my Lego custom minifigures. The holiday is firmly associated with supernatural. Rituals, horror stories, legends about ancestors, children wearing role-playing costumes with pumpkin lamps, and certainly clubs and Halloween parties for adults)) Super Holiday! The roots of the holiday go back to the tradition of the ancient Celts of Ireland and Scotland which is interesting in itself. We need to say a separate «thank you» to Halloween for Halloween's attributes that make this Holiday so atmospheric! Have a look at my Lego Halloween Custom Minifigure. I hope you will like it! https://ideas.lego.com/projects/c928192a-50a0-4c4c-90da-5224f92f1937 This is a build of the Inn of the Prancing Pony from The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R Tolkien built as a Lego ideas submission to be made into a set. I have seen other versions of this inn and tavern submitted to LEGO ideas in the past, so I know there is interest out there in having this inn as a set. I hope to honor those previous submissions and see if we can reach 10K. The Prancing Pony is one of the most famous fantasy inns of literature and I would love to see this added as a set to the LEGO portfolio in the Lord of the Rings or castle genre. Hello Lego Castle Fans! for starters - it's going to be a long slow project :) Do you remember 6057 Sea Serpent set from 1992? I've never had this set in my collection, I thought it might be worth building a new version... for Black Falcons fraction! One week ago I started building my first ship project - Medieval Cog "The Black Serpent"! This is still work in progress moc, I have a lot of work to do :) Now, has 43 cm long and almost 900 parts (will be more). Then I will make my own sail, so far I have prepared the material (my old pillow), I painted it white, I still have to paint the Black Falsons logo. But it's not over! I also want buils some area, fragment of sea and coast with some stronghold - for Raven Knights. The next steps are: - complete the ship's design, - make a sail, - order a lot of new parts, - hunt few sheeps from set 10775 I prepared the first material from this project, if you are interested, check out my youtube - Edge of Bricks channel :)
