    Inspirational Modular and Castle MOCs

Hey guys, I decided to create this topic and the main idea came from this and this post (so special thanks to @danth and @Digger of Bricks!). I would like to highlight three things before I start to post inspirational MOCs: I’ll post three staff picks everyday! Please feel free to post your favorite MOCs! Have fun admiring and taking inspiration from those great MOCs Top three MOC’s IMO in Baroque architecture: 1. This incredible Baroque Church by @Jellyeater! 2. This amazingly detailed MOC by @pj_bosman! 3. This greatly shaped modular by @cimddwc! Here are the three best Baroque MOC’s IMO! What do you think about them? Would you buy modulars like those if TLG made? Here are the Steampunk ones: 1. This incredible layout made together by @castor-troy and @domino39 (they also made one MOD of the PR and the MS and two MOD’s of the CC included in this layout. But they look so different that they are more MOC then MOD). EB topic here and Flickr albums with more photos here, here, here and here. 2. These great Steampunk modulars by @adde51! 3. These very interesting modulars by @Zilmrud who as well made great MOD’s of the PC and the BB! Here are the three most gorgeous Steampunk MOC’s IMO! What do you think of them? Would you buy modulars like those if TLG ever made?
  2. Hello there! Sharing my latest Moc ~ Medieval Batman & Bat carriage. I always want to MOC a batman not in modern time but medieval. Simply just because batman is so "gradiator' to me. Hope you like this crazy idea. Thanks and BRICK ON!
  3. Thulgard by David de Rijke, on Flickr Few of the ships of the once so mighty Mitgardian expedition survived their voyage, but the brave survivors joined up and found land! On the vast continent of Vela, yet unknown to Historica, they founded their new home, Thulgard. As the wood of the ships was used for pallissades and watch towers, the crews went out to forage and build some structures to survive the incoming winter. They did not go unnoticed, however... Their new settlement of Thulgard seemed to be placed in the domain of the Empire, and some imperial officers already stood at the gates to reclaim it, diplomatically. Not a single change however that Mitgardian captain Amkyr will let that happen! Thulgard lays in the Westerlands, the -obviously- western region of the Empire, ruled by the house of Glainthes, who have their seat near Bunnock's Barn, half a day's march away. Bunnock manor by David de Rijke, on Flickr Thulgard might be my most detailed build at this scale. At least it has the best rockwork I have ever produced :p The mountain had been under construction for, like, a year, so I am kind of glad that I am done, for now I sorted out my lego, I can't wait to build much and much more! Alas I kind of forgot I am studying abroad now for some weeks, so I had to hurry with the photography before I left. I might wanna make better pictures when I am back!

  6. Earl of Shrewsbury

The End of the Hundred Years' War

Preparation for the English and French armies at Castillon is underway. The battle took place on 17 June, 1453 and it marked the end of the period known as the Hundred Years' War. The French were lead by an artillery commander Jean Bureau, and the English by yours truly (John Talbot, 1st Earl of Shrewsbury). The armies are incomplete, but this is but a taste of the MOC that is to come. Note the 15th century style custom helmets from Brick Warriors. My goal is to create a battlefield MOC with most of my attention devoted to historical accuracy. Stay tuned for more uploads as the build progresses.
  7. Hi Folks, I recently finished my 1st MOC ever and would like to present it here. I hope there are some of you who still enjoy looking at walls in strange angles :-) The cartoony style is done by purpose and I didn't aim for realism. The Front - Fantasy medieval like house front - Lego MOC by Ralf Langer, auf Flickr It features some twisted, huge trees, discoloured bricks and taxing techniques. I'm so glad it is finally finished. It was a little bit to tall for a first MOC. I even planed to build a hill as a socket and a forest, too. But I totally underestimated size and weight. I tried to do it mostly by myself without looking at other MOCs and so It took me ages to fiddle out all thouse angles and techniques. The Front - Lego MOC of a fantasy medieval house front by Ralf Langer, auf Flickr There are no half attached bricks or plates. All the angles were done using hinges. MOC1c by Ralf Langer, auf Flickr Cheers!
  8. Hello and welcome! Here's my latest MOC, in which I experimented with colours currently somewhat defunct in LDD that I attempted to restore. The Axen Octet is a congregation of eight spirits sent forth upon Earth by Sepulchure. The group never parts and accomplishes tasks jointly, materialising out of thin air and disappearing just as swiftly. The characteristic trait shared by all axenocts is a single unblinking eye, roughly level with the shoulders. The Octet always moves in complete silence, communicating through means not known to man. Upon appearance, each spirit takes physical form with is retained until retreat - the form has been reported to consist of metal-like material on the outside, as reported by those lucky enough to overhear or survive a battle. Each axenoct is entrusted with the task of observation, but on specific occasions they bear instructions of carnage and destruction, which is when their axes come to prominent use. The carnages are exactly the reason the Octet - and their axes that brought about the name - are so dreaded by those who know anything about these spirits. Some have linked the instances of their appearance to the passing of the Emissary of Sepulchure, however these rumours remain unconfirmed. The Knight Well-armoured, fast and bearing a heavy axe, this axenoct posesses ram-like capabilities and is often seen at the forefront of an attack formation heading for a fortified target. With a shield to deflect attacks and a pair of bells hanging off its shoulder, the forewarning sound of which alone is enough to intimidate most, the Knight is a force to be reckoned with. The Duke This moderately-armoured axenoct towers above all in height and handles a halberd-like axe that gives it a great range in combat. Another tactical advantage to the Octet stems from the Duke's ability to self-illuminate and effectively blind the enemies, overall making this axenoct an important strategic asset during assaults. Its calm nature also makes it a good observer and, possibly, strategist. The Demon The fiercest of the bunch, this blank-eyed axenoct carries the fearsome double-bladed axe with a handle shaped like a trident, neither of which the Demon is shy to employ. If that was not enough, it carries out its assaults with intense rage, spitting forth bursts of flame and soon turning the area into a towering inferno. The Imp While not as intimidating as its elder "brother", this axenoct bears no good news. Possessing no special abilities and welding only a basic axe, this minion is often sent on mundane tasks to act as support and to carry out minor carnage. Despite its lack of fire mastery, the Imp can occasionally - albeit uncontrollably - release a ball of fire, which on many occasions has been sufficient to start serious fires. The Magus The smallest member of the Octet is not to be overlooked. Although neither its figure, nor its axe suggest the ability to wreak havoc, it is the other end of the axe that is used in deploying energies known and not-so-known to man. A rumour has it that the artifact on this axenoct's right arm has something to do with its abilities, and that it is indeed the Magus who facilitates the sudden appearances and vanishing of the Octet. The Teitan This axenoct's slow speed and somewhat humorous appearance are swiftly wiped out of the enemies' minds with the heaviest of axes dropping on their houses, heads and other kinds of property. Extremely heavy armour and an immeasurably heavy axe that doubles as a shield - and the ability to handle the aforementioned gear - have reaped the Teitan the reputation of a true titan. A lethal opponent in both attack and defense. The Spectre This ghastly axenoct sports a ghost-like appearance, and to the demise of its targets handles the most dreadful weapon among the Octet members - the spectral axe, capable of severing and entrapping living souls. Physical damage can also be dealt with it, albeit to a lesser extent, but its main capability is what makes the targets tremble and run as far as possible before giving the Spectre a chance to hit them. Which is where the chains come in handy... The Wraith This axenoct is the true dread machine that both looks and functions the part. Being of spooky appearance, with the habit of camouflaging itself and then jumping the victim, the Wraith is also the fastest of all axenocts. Before the threat is even realised, the deadly long-hilt axe is sent swinging in every direction faster than an eye can follow, truly making it the perfect device for intimidation and spreading panic. The entire Axen Octet. A rare sight best avoided altogether... Thank you for your attention, and I hope you enjoyed your stay!

    [MOC] Four-Towered Castle

After finishing it and creating minifigures I uploaded it to LEGO Ideas which you can find here: Four-Towered Castle It contains some extra information such as piece counts. Feel free to leave a support on the LEGO Ideas site if you like it. 3D Model view here on Sketchfab: Four-Towered Castle The Full Inside view. Note that the castle is made in a "L" shaped layout. The left/West Entrance. Notice the flaps that would allow archers/crossbowmen to fire through and take cover. The inside side of the West entrance. Entrance to the hall from the courtyard/bailey. The alchemy room. With a green substance in a flask and a chandelier below the tall ceiling. The certainly need a ladder here. A tower with a wooden hoarding around it. Crossbows are stored here. The armoury. Along with the stacked sword it has a bed for a soldier here as well. View above the towers. Better view of the catapult and the winch for raising the portcullis. Inside the shack extension. The Great Hall. Turnable fire in the great hall's fireplace. Winch which you can rotate the fire and exterior of the hall. Drawbridge Outside. Gate Inside. Chest room. Stone Sigil. Walkway. Romans with a catapult & Celtic Warriors. Upper view.

  12. What kind of sets would you want from a new fantasy/medieval themed line?
  13. So I put together this Lego cart below and I thought the build style was fun enough to share. The "column" pieces made good hay bundles and the side panels gave just enough room to hold them to make a good sized cart. But there was another problem. The horse was too short and it make the cart tilt forward. That's when I got the idea of putting either hooves or horse shoes depending on what you want them to be. The horse was taller and even had a fun style element. This made me wonder, why doesn't Lego put hooves or horse shoes on the horses? It makes for a fun extra element so maybe I'll start adding them to my horses now. The video shows how to make the cart and will give a few more angles than this title screen can show. I also included a couple stop motion scenes to add a little fun. Enjoy!

    [MOC] Kingdom's First Gate

This is my third MOC and the first i made with "new" pieces.... My collection is almost entirely from the 80's, 90's and early 2000's, so i used to have a lot of regular bricks in blue, yellow, white, black and red. Now i have adquire some new LEGO sets and the options are growing (i live in Argentina and the price of LEGO is ridiculous)... I build it last year but my camera was broken and today i got fixed it... About the MOC: This is the first line of defense in the kingdom... is a small structure with a small garrison... Time is peaceful so they can even go outside and cut the grass! As always, comments and criticism is most welcome! [MOC] Herbalist's Hut

Hello Eurobricks Historic! I am intensely inspired by this forum and a huge castle fan since childhood. I really enjoy the challenge of combining playability with appealing aesthetics - hope you guys/gals can offer some critique for my future builds. Here's to my first MOC shared on Eurobricks! A renowned local herbalist grows ingredients and preps her potions in a hut not far from town. The purple & tan colour scheme was inspired by a Toronto pick-a-brick wall full of tan SNOT bricks and purple tiles. Conveniently complementary colours. I built around the dimensions of a typical MMV type building, but wanted to include plenty of garden space. I always liked houses that are displayable when open, like it's a two connected buildings on one side of a dirt road. This made things tricky with the garden space buffer and I got around this by placing the hinges on a chimney which extends further outside to power the distilling contraption: Friends sets provide some fun flower variety. I was also happy to find that lego made amanita mushroom pieces while I was in my dark ages. I got these giant tan slopes from a used sphinx set I bought and really wanted to incorporate them. However I realized they looked really dull, and so I added vines, which evolved to wrap around the whole building. I feel like no home is complete without a space to live and sleep. Admittedly there is no bathroom, but the garden does need fertilizer. A prep station full of interesting ingredients, a pot producing a ghastly green smoke as it boils. A place for stocking inventory and gardening tools, those potions look potent.. She senses a soul in search of answers The confident traveller on his way to battle insists on only her strongest potions. He is disappointed to find that her potions are far too strong for him. Onward he goes to find a seller that sells weaker potions I'm pretty happy overall with the addition of a civilian building to my medieval setup -- however there are a few things I would do differently next time: Firstly I would probably skip forcing big pieces into the build, like the big tan slopes, they did not look stellar when naked, which forced some flimsy coverup. They are also not very stable, which is annoying for playing with the set. As I expand my collection perhaps I can try multiple iterations. Secondly, I am not entirely happy with the roof overall, since the points where the large plates join at the top and the lack of overhang on the sides look somewhat unfinished. Either way, I'm looking forward to trying out some alternative roof techniques on my next castle themed build. Please feel free to share your thoughts on potential improvements.
  17. The training camp has been expanded again, for the governor decided the horse training would be moved here as well. The horses will be trained to overcome their fears, like dogs, and knights can come to practice here with their lances .. and here is the complete assembly of the Ginnon Valley training camps: I built the tower first, and some people thought the rocks were a bit bare, and some vegetation would be nice. Then the idea rose to create an archery range next to the tower, which could 'connect' to the rock where the tower was built on. I tried some tree design there as well, though I am not too happy with it (stability is too bad, alas) I found some tan bricks as well, and came with the idea to make straw bales to catch arrows gone wild. Then lastly I added the horsegrounds, for I was playing with a horse when I came up with the dog-scaring-the-horse-scene, which I quite liked. The idea of the tan sand is that its trampled all the time, which serves as an excuse not to add texture, as i do not own much tan except for the tan being in a WiP right now:O Main reason to build this was to get started on the tower phase 2, for which I can now make a big build (if I would put the big build as phase one, I couldnt surpass myself anymore xD) The stable was a bit rushed, but I wanted to finish it before the weekend because I would be gone for a while, and now I can immediatly start on my new project :)
  18. While the city of Falconstone keeps expanding, the training camp in the nearby Ginnon Valley is also under constant development. An archery range has been put up, from which archers and axe throwers can practice hurling their projectiles at targets placed before a wall of straw bales
  19. Hi guys, after doing a large build for the SJ17 I did not have much motivation for a new large project immediatly. Then I remembered how I have many uncompleted Age of Mitgardia builds left to do :P Here is my take on the tower phase one! My first focus was on the rockwork, and when I started the tower I had no idea where it was going, but im quite pleased with the result.
  20. I am doing all I can to save up for a graphics tablet for future career-related requirements as well as one of my greater aspirations, and I've found that selling a good chunk of my collection that I am no longer using will definitely help me be propelled closer to that goal. I have quite a lot of BrickWarriors pieces that I once bought for a planned project that was later scrapped and there's quite a bit of value attached to that and I'm hoping to be able to make someone else happy with it. If anyone would be interested in lots of different BrickWarriors pieces, mainly medieval & fantasy themed items, or if anybody knows of a place where such third party itemese for LEGO can be sold, please let me know, since I'm trying to find as many ways to get the money I'm in need of by doing this. I'll add some pictures to the first post tomorrow, but in the meantime, all interested may drop me a message or post a comment here. ~ GM
  21. I decided The Nexo Knights Volcano Lair playset needed a little something extra... I added a Skull tower with a throne and a platform for adding ingredients into a cauldron for mixing up magical mischief... Work in progress image... Best picture I could get of the throne
  22. So here is my latest MOC based on the Robin Hood classic which was a favorite of mine as a child and now for my 6 year old son. The build stands over 4 feet tall in a 13x4 baseplate layout and took around 9 months to finish. I added some LED lights throughout and made it modular for my local Children's Museum and Brickworld Chicago coming up in June. I also posted several of the medieval village buildings on the Ideas page in case you're interested in voting we would greatly appreciate it! Thanks for viewing... Edoras

This will be one of the prizes for this years Middle Earth LEGO Olympics. I have always liked the look of Edoras, so it was quite fun to try to capture the look of the city in microscale. Edoras is the capital city of Rohan, and houses the Golden Hall, Meduseld. Plenty more pictures on my website. Thanks for looking
  25. Making a castle gate. Later going to build some houses and shops (after buying one more baseplate). I'm not very good at building, but tryin' to make something cool.
