    Strategic StarHound

My latest MOC is the Strategic StarHound: This is a Futuron mech based on the old Strategic Pursuer. https://brickset.com/sets/6848-1/Strategic-Pursuer I basically made a bigger version. The arms, legs, and red floodlights (is that what they are?) are all poseable. Hopefully I can add some more pictures later. Hope you all like it.

    Hello Lego Fans!

Hi, my name is Rafael and I am from Germany. I got out of my Dark Ages a couple months ago and want to become a contributing member of the community. This forum seems awesome for that! I am now 34 and still have fond memories of playing with Legos as a kid. The best christmas was when I got the Fire Breathing Castle. This was so much fun. But I also liked the space theme a lot. Lego was the best toy ever, due to the possibilities it presented. It's funny how most of us get sidetracked with other things just to realize later how awesome it still is. I still like to get sets and build them at least once, and except maybe for the odd really awesome set, I will keep it displayed for some time. But ultimately it's all about taking it apart and building something new out of it. I really like to build alternate MOCs from just one set. It limits the amount of possibilities, sure, but also makes it challenging and one has to think of potentially new ways of building something, compared to having all the pieces at disposal. But obviously completely free MOCs using everything thats possible are awesome too. Haven't done anything big so far, but I am sure that time will come! Right now I am working on a Harry Potter themed MOC for a Halloween event, in which I show a scene from my Hogwarts RPG campaign. My three players are all first years at Hogwarts in 1984 and of course found their way into the Forbidden Forest! ;) But usually I am leaning towards creating Scifi-themed MOCs, like Mechs and Spaceships. Especially looking into a Lego-based tabletop game called Mobile Frame Zero and its spaceship spin-off Intercept Orbit right now. And for that matter I kinda thought that I wanted not only to sit alone (or my fiance) and put bricks together, but actually share my creations and hopefully add fun to other people's lifes as well. So I started a youtube channel sharing tutorial videos of my MOCs, as well as other related Lego topics, like Vlogs and Reviews! Please check out my youtube channel if you like, Maranar bricks: http://bit.ly/maranarbricks There is also a Flickr page: http://bit.ly/2xik2g0 Greetings! Maranar / Rafael

    [MOC] Mobile suit X-RAY³

X-RAY³ Mobile Suit I'm back with another mech! The head takes after OXON, but overall I went with a more beastly vibe, somewhat inspired by Horizon Zero Dawn. I chose yellow because I had never really used it as a main colour before and for its association with danger and toxicity. Without further ado, let's get into the pictures and some backstory: X-RAY³ is a special assault-type mobile suit. It is a vicious firestarter, designed for aggressive surprise attacks that plunge the enemy into chaos. While rampaging with its multi-compound chemical blasters, its various sensory systems gather as much data within enemy territory as possible, before the main forces arrive. The multi-compound blasters are like miniature chemical plants, producing a range of combustibles, acids and noxious gasses. Opening hatches: LIDAR imaging sensors, cockpit and fuel cell compartment. The fearless adrenaline junkie that pilots X-RAY. And that's it! I particularly enjoyed doing the chicken legs (with mechanical claws!) and head. The shoulders were challenging, I wanted to get those 45-year-old dual-moulded (?) doors in. The spinal neck was cool to do, but unfortunately the head pops off quite frequently when I try to pose it. I'm really happy with how the blasters turned out - it took lots of trial and error - although I wish they would have as much detail on the inside as the outside, since that side is exposed a lot when the blasters are facing outwards. On the whole, I like it very much. I'm already planning the next mobile suit in the line! Thanks for looking, I hope you like it! C&C always welcome!
  8. It's sonic... The Doctor (Doctor Who) Hello Eurobricks again! Let me introduce my new MOC related to Warhammer 40000 universe - the battle between the Aeldari and the Chaos Sonic Dreadnought Clamorion: The photos of this work are stored in my Flickr album. Follow me if you liked the MOC. The High Farseer of Ermyaris (the character from my Xenoarchaeologist photo stories) was exiled from his own craftworld for friendship with inferior human species and joined Ynnari - the new Aeldari movement dedicated to summoning of Ynnead, the god of the dead who can destroy dark god Slaanesh. The Farseer was looking for the fifth and last of the Crone Swords, powerful weapons which can bring Ynnead to the mortal world. And the treads of fate brought him to a planet in the Eye of Terror known as Atherakhia. There, among the warp-mutated plants and the white ruins of ancient Aeldari Empire, the Farseer and his loyal warriors tried to find this crucial artifact, not willing to stay in that Chaos-infested world for long. But soon he was ambushed by Chaos Space Marines from Clamorion the Yeller's warband. They wanted to slay the Aeldari to please their twisted patron, Slaanesh... The full view of the MOC: It consists of three parts: Clamorion the Sonic Dreadnought, the Noise Marine maxifigure and the ancient Aeldari ruins in a death world where the battle occurred. The main character - Clamorion the Yeller, the Sonic Dreadnought of Slaanesh: 10000 years ago Clamorion was a skillful warrior from the Emperor's Children Legion of human Space Marines. Later he fell to Chaos with his fellow battle-brothers and pledged to Slaanesh, the dark god of forbidden pleasures who killed the majority of Aeldari race. Due to his great martial skills, he was among the first who held the Kakophoni, the prototypes of modern Emperor's Children sonic weaponry. But during the Isstvan V Drop Site Massacre Clamorion was betrayed by Lord Commander Eidolon out of jealousy and grievously wounded by his orders. Then, he was imprisoned in a Dreadnought sarcophagus, and his life was prolonged by advanced life support systems. For Clamorion, his fate was worse than death. He was stripped of his feelings and could no more hear the magnificent sounds of is sonic weapons and enjoy the screams of his enemies. He literally became a slave to Eidolon and other non-crippled marines. Clamorion was locked in a hangar and the Emperor's Children released him during important battles, only to imprison him again. Moreover, the Warp slowly began mutating and twisting his body, and though he didn't infuse with his sarcophagus, becoming a Helbrute, his eyes were covered by flesh and his mouth became very big and able to make sinister screams. Hopefully, Clamorion's slavery didn't last for long. He managed to escape from the spaceship where he was held. And after the Horus Heresy, this maddened Dreadnought assembled a warband of Chaos Space Marines from Emperor's Children who didn't want to serve Eidolon and other commanders. Now Clamorion lives only for two purposes - to avenge those who betrayed him and to please Slaanesh, hoping to return his feelings... Clamorion is a standard Ferrum Infernus-pattern Dreadnought painted black and pink - these are colors of post-Heresy Emperor's Children: The prototype of this MOC is an old Forge World Sonic Dreadnought: Thankfully, Clamorion's flesh didn't grow into the adamantium sarcophagus. Only his large mouth protrudes from his helmet, the mouth that yells inhuman screams during battles: Clamorion's shoulders are decorated with shining grids and the Mark of Slaanesh. There are the heavy flamer and the sensors which help him to navigate in battle, under his bulky, boxy body. His right arm has a twin blastmaster: It is a heavy variant of a standard Noise Marine sonic blaster and a weapon which creates horrific sonic waves that can rip internal organs. Two barrels of the blastmaster: For close combat Clamorion uses a power weapon in his left arm: His arms are very mobile: On his roof, smoke launchers (in the middle) and doom sirens (on the sides) are placed: The doom sirens amplify Clamorion's terrible voice, making it really deadly for enemies. On his back the engine is placed: Unlike the original Warhammer 40000 model, Clamorion has only two exhaust pipes, but they are chrome! The chains replace short wires and suit the aesthetics of Chaos and Slaanesh well. The Dreadnought stands on mighty hydraulic legs: Some pistons can be seen from behind: The Dreadnought can make some (anti)heroic poses: The chrome is shining (it's not CGI): Clamorion leads his own warband of Noise Marines. Since the Dreadnought was intended to be true-scale, and the Space Marines are taller than an average human or Aeldari, I decided to make a Noise Marine maxifigure: The Noise Marine holds a sonic blaster. The chain is a "wire" connecting the weapon with the marine's pauldron. The Noise Marines miniatures made by Games Workshop: Height comparison - an Aeldari, a Noise Marine and a Dreadnought: The side view of the Noise Marine: He wears an iconic backpack that powers servo-drives of his power armour: On a top of the backpack there are doom sirens like those on Dreadnought's roof. The Noise Marine without his weapon: This particular Noise Marine is called Nefaros and joined Clamorion's warband after the betrayal of other Emperor's Children. The Aeldari of Craftworld Ermyaris are represented by traditional minifigures. From left to right: Howling Banshees Exarch Eyla, the Farseer (he haven't been using his name for a long time), his Gyrinx (a psychic cat familiar) Murzinx and Ranger Moyaz: They all are characters from Xenoarchaeologist stories. Eyla is equipped with canon Banshee Mask which works very much like Slaaneshi doom sirens and armed with power sword of deceased Autarch Erestril and a shuriken pistol. The Farseer holds a Singing Spear and a shuriken pistol too. Ranger Moyaz prefers his sniper long-rifle. The same characters, albeit Eyla doesn't wear her helmet: The ruins where the battle took place: The word Atherakhia means destruction in Aeldari language and suits this forsaken world very well. The millennia spent in Warp changed forever its nature, and plants and animals became weird and deadly. And among that colorful ruins, the inlets of white ancient Aeldari ruins are scattereed, and in these ruins the Farseer was looking the lost Crone Sword. This part of the MOC was inspired by the piece of terrain produced by Games Workshop: The sculpture made like an Aedari rune towers over the ruins: Once majestic buildings are now destroyed: The green-and-red grass is inhabited by deadly spiders and other dangerous animals: The back view of the ruins: The review of the MOC is over, and here is a small story. The Farseer, Eyla and Moyaz walked carefully in the ruins, attempting to find clues leading to the Crone Sword: Danger found them very quickly - the Aeldari were ambushed by Chaos Space Marines. "I WILL BRING YOUR SOULS TO SLAANESH!!! RRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!" The Aeldari engaged in battle with the servants of their mortal enemy. The Farseer clashed with Sonic Dreadnoight Clamorion, and Exarch Eyla fought with Noise Marine Nefaros: The Farseer distracted the Dreadnought, simultaneously guarding his fellow Aeldari from sonic weapons with psychic powers: Moyaz took cover in ruins, aiming the Dreadnought's vulnerable parts: Eyla fought Nefaros in close combat, not allowing him to use his sonic blaster: And Clamorion activated his heavy flamer but the Farseer and Murzinx evaded his flames: And suddenly the Dreadnought impaled the Farseer in his chest: "BEHOLD, SLAANESH!!! I OFFER YOUR A SACRIFICE!!!!!" The Farseer was dead. He fell on the ruined wraithbone square. Murzinx looked sadly at his fallen master. But soon the Farseer's head began to glow... And he appeared on a ruined wall behind Clamorion's back! The Farseer created a psychic illusion to deceive his enemy and prepared to strike with his Singing Spear and to cast Eldritch Storm! Te battle continued. Emboldened by their Farseer's "resurrection", the Aeldari stroke the Chaos Marines with renewed vigor... Thank you for watching and reading! P.S. No Hogwarts was harmed in the making of this MOC. Almost.
  9. Some years ago my friend gifted me Bionicle set 8984 , and I had no idea what to do with it's bulky parts until I had enough pretty red and black brichs that I didn't use in other mocs. Espesially I like that three-leaf piece from one of goblin's plants, I wanted to have nice use of it. Also mecha MOCers like ChybbyBot inspired me very much, I wanted to try to make similar big creature and I had two fun evenings building this one :) To make a story behind I think this beast was builded by goblins for their king to fight Dragon Queen. But she is okay about it because good forces always win! :)
  10. Rebuild the Sydney Opera house as The Robotics Lab, the new high-tech institute in town, specializing at mech prototyping and AI. Take a sneak peek at the latest robot the folks at the lab are building - and if you want, use more parts to finish it! Transforming this set into a 32w modular was certainly a challenge. As opposed to the Big Ben, which has a lot of small parts that lend themselves nicely to decorations, the Sydney Opera House has a large amount of specialized pieces and technic parts that don't really fit well with a standard modular. When I saw the amount of ball joints included, I immediately remembered my Bionicle MOCing days and thought about making a mech out of them. But I still wanted a modular to add to my city as well, which presented an interesting dilemma. I wanted to use the white roof pieces as armor plates, but their scale meant that the mech would be several feet tall if built like that. And there was no way the modular would be able to house it. I thought about making a scene where the mech was destroying a half-damaged building, but that seemed hard to incorporate into people's towns making it look out of place. So in the end I went with a solution of a Robotics Lab, where pieces of the Mech are being constructed and assembled. That way there is a nice scene in the modular, but it's tucked away and not clashing with the standard town aesthetic. And in case anyone wants to finish the design, they only need to add a body and an arm to have the finished product. The large amount of dark windows are well suited to a "secret" project, keeping it away from prying eyes. With no doors in the set at all, I had to make due with brick-built ones using hinge pieces from the set. I am especially proud of the tilted roof windows that ended up being perfectly LDD legal, which is something that's always a worry when you design with real bricks first. The first floor has the legs mounted on a wall, ready to be attached to the final body, as well as an arm being worked on by a group of engineers. There's also the AI sign, just in case it wasn't clear to everyone what's going on here. The second floor (and the roof) have no floor, accentuating the verticality of the building, leaving enough space for the Mech to be assembled (though they will probably have to airlift it out when it's done). There is an engineer doing final checks on the head of the Mech, using a platform and some adjustable lights. In the end, I am really hope as to how this project turned out. I may go and use the remaining parts to actually build the body and recreate the destruction scene described above, though that will probably take me some time. I hope Lego will release a new large scale Creator Expert set soon so that I can try rebuilding it as well (the Roller Coaster isn't really a modular material :D). The instructions are available on my rebrickable page, where you can also check out some other cool alternate models. https://rebrickable.com/users/Huaojozu/mocs/

    Aegir 046 - Aquatic mech

Spent the last few days using spare blue parts to make this mech. Decided to go with a water theme since it was blue. And why not a trident? And a giant fan thingy? Lemme know what you think. Last photo is a bit grainy cause the sun was going down :p
  13. hey, been a while since i've built anything major, but i've finally figured out what i'm going to do for my next moc series. i'd like to build upgraded, full-scale versions of the crazy vehicles from the ninjago movie, as the released sets each seem to be roughly half the size of the movie versions. unfortunately i'm running into an issue in finding reference images of them. the concept art book has some good stuff in it, but stuff like cole's mech in the book isn't the final one (it has a brick built wheel) and the garma-mecha-man isn't represented in its brick form like, at all. any google searching i have done has nearly entirely lead me to pictures of the toy versions, not the movie versions. i'm looking for any screenshots, current mocs or in progress shots, or production shots that are available for these, or any tips you guys could give me on doing them. i'm starting off with the ice tank, so shots of that are the most helpful for now

    Alienator Redux (MOC)

Internal report: Alienator-type Units Organization: Blacktron Its purpose is causing an unignorable distraction so as to allow the strike force it carries to sneak into secure locations while local forces are occupied dealing with the vehicle. Its heavy armaments are capable of dealing significant damage to most forms of armor, and its thick plating and layered reinforcement makes it difficult to damage. Usually crewed by one armored trooper and two pilots, one of which is redundant and as such is usually part of the strike force. Equipment contained on an average Alienator-type unit is wire cutters, grappling equipment, welding tools and a hand-held circular saw, along with a variety of weapons and in units planned for long-term deployment (although it must be stated that due to their large and noticeable appearance, long term in this context refers to periods of at most 1-2 days), rations. The displayed example's armory included one small plasma pistol, one recoil-neutralized handheld railgun, a blade suited for underhand wielding, and a bashing/disarming ring upon recovery. Play features: removable roof, windshield opens, classic shuffle-walk mechanism, deployable ladder and ball joint mounted stud shooter turrets. This one was rather fun to make. I stole the foot design from Nexo Knights' Stone Colossus, and while I initially planned to make the legs flexible enough to walk normally, once I realized that I could actually use the classic mechanism I just had to. Of course, this is entirely unbuildable in real life due to the fact that I built this with little to no regard for the availability of certain pieces in certain colors. I just really wanted to make something focused mostly on aesthetics. Gallery LXF download (once public)
  15. Welcome to legozebra's pictorial review of 72004 Tech Wizard Showdown! Retailing for $39.99, 72004 is one of the 2018 Nexo Knights sets, although it, like many other 2018 sets, will be released officially on November 29th, most likely to capture the holiday spirit of frantic gift-buying. I was swinging by my local Toys R Us for something completely different (My branch for some reason has four Lego-related giveaways all around the $30-$50 price range - Geoffrey the Giraffe, Kai's Dojo Pod, Friends Ski Pod, and R3-M2) and happened to see this - the only 2018 set on the shelves. They seem to be appearing out in the wild at greater frequency and earlier than they've ever been, so stop by your local TRU - chances are at least one or two 2018 sets will be on shelves. But you didn't come here to read about how I got the set - so without further ado, let's jump into the box art! Packaging/Box Art (First of all, apologies for the slightly blurry pictures of the box - I noticed my camera lens was smudged after I had already thrown out the box) Emblazoned on the box art for 72004 is Clay's Tech Wizard Mech, facing off against the much smaller crawler mech that Monstrux boasts. The Infecto Byter appears to be attempting to block stud shooter bullets with his scythe (not a good plan), while the Cyberbyter is doing his best to impede the mech's progress by whacking it with his tiny axe. Neither seem like they are going to accomplish anything here. On the other hand, Monstrux is firing infecting bugs at the mech - which may seem small at first, but who knows if they'll manage to take over the mech's systems... The back of the box boasts seven golden Merlok Powers, each corresponding to a knight plus Merlok himself - a Claymore for Clay, Bow for Aaron, Lance for, well, Lance, Mace for Macy, Hammer for Robin (I guess he's a full-fledged knight now), an Axe for Axl, and a Wizard's staff for Merlok. On an aside, typing out each of these weapons and their corresponding knight really hammers in the pun names. Enough of the box though - let's get into the minifigures! Minifigures, Named Characters, and Accessories Starting off the minifigures we have Clay Moorington, the only knight not to boast golden armor due to the mech suit he fits in. I expect some sort of retailer exclusive or other set we haven't seen yet to include him with full armor, presumably the only unrevealed set containing the Merlok Staff Power. But for now, this is all we get. Here's a shot of the figure's back printing to get a good look at the sweet blue and gold printing. Everything about this figure is pretty superb save one detail - the Tech Wizard arm. Spoilers for Season Four of the TV show follow, as well as comparison photos to how it should look. As you may or may not have seen in the spoiler box, Clay's arm look pretty drastically different in the show than it does in the set - in the show, without giving away spoilers, it is part trans orange and part blue, with technology lines receding from it. Pretty cool, right? In the set, however, it's just... orange. Yeah, that's right. Just a plain orange arm. This feels like a missed opportunity here - In Ninjago, for example, when Cole unlocked his Elemental Fists, his arms gained an effect in the TV show not unlike Clay's arm here, except the set version was trans-black with orange rock highlights. That arm looked amazing, whereas this plain orange arm is a bit of a let-down. I don't know anything about how well Nexo Knights is performing financially, but presume that this lack of detail could have arisen from budgetary constraints, not technical difficulties in making it look good. Here's a look at all variants of Clay we've gotten so far - it's more than I realized at first! From left to right: 2016 Knight Clay, 2016 Ultimate Clay, 2017 Knight Clay, 2017 Battle Suit Pilot Clay, 2017 Cursed Transformation Clay, 2017 Gray Knight Stone Clay, and finally 2018 Battle Suit Pilot/Tech Wizard Clay. Note how the sword molding has changed over the years to reflect shifts in color scheme - silver, gray, and gold. Anyways, with Clay done, let's take a closer look at the other character on the side of good: Merlok. The Merlok we get in this set is indeed a printed part - thank goodness he wasn't a sticker, or there would be fingerprints all over him. Here's a lineup of all Merlok variants we've gotten so far, from left to right: 2016 Fortrex Merlok, 2016 (Sticker) GWP Training Pack w/Shield Merlok, 2017 Merlok Mech Suit, and 2018 Tech Wizard Merlok. Of all of them, the worst is by far the obscure promo version, which makes sense, as he's a sticker and way too small as well. As for the 2018 vs 2016 hologram variants, it's not obvious as first but the 2016 variant is printed in silver on the piece whereas the 2018 variant is in warm gold. It's a really nice way to emphasize the change in color scheme between the years (more on that later) but especially the change from silver highlights in 2016, orange highlights in 2017, and gold highlights in 2018. It's a cool detail I didn't notice at first glance, but am really liking how the Merlok holograms evoke that year's secondary color scheme. But now, we must move onto a more... monstrous side of the figures, starting with the CyberByter. This cute little fellow seems to be a Squirebot who has been infected with Monstrux's tech virus. A closer loom at his face shows he is trying very hard to appear as menacing as possible, to somewhat comedic effect. His alt-face is a bit more grumpy - but evil nonetheless. Now if only this virus will improve their lackluster fighting abilities as well as their facial prints... but we'll have to wait and see for Season Five of the show. Next up is the Infecto Byter, sporting a brand new vampiric helmet. Personally, I'm a bigger fan of this figure than I was of other generic baddie types in the past, like the magma and stone/lightning monsters, but I appear to be in the minority in that regards. Perhaps it's because I've never been that big of a castle fan and more of a space fan, but I really welcome these new, high-tech designs. With the helmet removed, we get a better look at that creepy face - I absolutely love this vampire-esque mask and suspect it will prove very useful in custom Space characters in the future. Turning the figure around, however, and we see one of the major flaws in the helmet - much like the masks of the 2011 Hero Factory Fire Villains (anyone remember these?), it is double sided, serving as a different helmet from the back. The only problem with this unique design, however, is the inclusion of an alternate face, which sticks out more prominently than Han Solo's scowl underneath his old hair element. Now, these may be elements of the story - perhaps these villainous fiends do indeed have eyes on the backs of their heads (props to Tommy Andreasen if he's worked this element of the sets into the show) - but until that's confirmed, this is an unfortunate side effect of having both a dual sided helmet and an alternate expression. Speaking of that alt expression, here's a look underneath the helmet, as well as a side shot for a close-up of the new mold. Next up is Monstrox and his creepy crawler platform. The hologram element is indeed printed, which came as a nice surprise. Here's a look at all iterations of Monstrox over the years, from the diminutive Book of Monsters, to the Cloud of Monstrox, and finally the Hologram (?) of Monstrox. I've obviously excluded the Stone Colossus of Ultimate Destruction, another form of Monstrox, because of his, well, colossal size. The crawler alone sports three new molds as well - a tiny tech bug (I'm sure the official name is in some set description somewhere, but it's a tiny tech bug) and a cool new wing/claw element in trans green with hexagonal patterns, a bit like a tiny version of Galaxy Squad's Insect Wings. Here's the element in question: And here's the most exciting element of all - the new shield. It's both insectoid and techy, with what appear to be coiled wires streaming down the sides of the element. It's much more visually appealing than the rock shield, and is my favorite new mold from this set. Also, here's some shots of the new tech bug element, in case you were curious. It's a neat amount of detail for such a small piece, down to the legs at different angles. I dig it! Before we move on, I just wanted to highlight the new Merlok Power: It's cast in some sort of gold, although the shine is a bit different from the other warm gold parts. It may be just me, but it looks really great and feels like a high quality collectible item. I really like this element! With all the figures and and characters covered, let's move on the the main build! Build/Model We're a bit ahead of ourselves - let's backtrack to a nice surprise inside of the larger mech suit... A baby mech suit! It's a standard build, nothing too exciting - but it's to be expected with builds piloting other builds (see 8943, 8942, 70810, the list goes on). Here's a comparison to another rather standard build: Clay's original Battle Suit. (Excuse the lack of Nexo Powers - they're all part of a large wall display) The Battle Suit features the cockpit in element in warm gold, the first time it's ever been in that color, but otherwise features no other exciting recolors or molds. The weapons can be held in a back jetpack attachment, also featured on the main mech. This attachment, while looking alright from the front and back (save the awkward giant sword placement) really does not look good at all from the side: As you can see, it juts out with the thickness of almost another Battle Suit entirely. It does this too, but to a much lesser extent, in the larger mech, and I feel that it could have been executed a bit better and way slimmer than it is. Let's take a look at the battle suit fitting inside the larger Tech Wizard suit: There's an orange click-hinge attachment point to the suit that fits the Battle Suit nicely. The box art and instructions show the legs and arms hanging out rather haphazardly; I prefer folding the legs back and squeezing the arms together as you can see in the photo. The legs especially are unwieldy as they hang out - they hamper the already extremely limited leg articulation if you pose it like it is on the cover, and can cause the mech to dislodge from the already fragile connection. Once it's in there, close up the front plate (yes - that is a Nexo Combo Power shield in glorious light blue/aqua) and fold down the shoulder pads and helmet to secure it. It reminds me a lot of 8557 Exo-Toa, a set I loved as a kid because I could remove and add a large scale figure to it, and I expect this set will be just as well-loved by children as well, as this is a really neat play feature. Once situated, here's a look at the overall suit with the helmet, shoulder pads, and chest element closed. It really brings it all together, don't you think? The Battle Suit is remarkably well-concealed, and I didn't even notice it in early images of the set. Compared to the two other mechs we've gotten, it stands about as tall as King's Mech (without its amazing 21109 Exo Suit-esque knee articulation) and is dwarfed by the Black Knight Mech. This shot especially highlights some of my issues with the mech's legs - the upper torso and arms feel like they belong to a mech the size of the Black Knight Mech, but the legs are way too stubby for it - it's almost like they took upper legs/thighs and attached feet to the bottom, foregoing lower legs completely. It's a less extreme version of the legs on 70904 Clayface Splat Attack, if you know what I mean. Because of this stubbiness and lack of articulation, you can't do much with posing in terms of the legs, as you can see: The last photo here really shows the extent to which you can pose it - and this isn't a unique issue. For better or for worse, Lego mechs in recent years have swung on thew opposite end of, say, Exo Force mechs, with lots of articulation but not much stability. Recently, they've gone with extreme stability - just take a look at 70615 Fire Mech, for example - its legs are pretty much just thick, long stalks, with no knees or feet articulation at all. Personally, I'd like a better engineered mix of two extremes - articulation and stability at the same time. I will concede, however, that this is quite difficult to accomplish. Moving upwards, I wanted to pause and highlight this bit of neat shaping - the SNOT connections with the half arches really mesh well together - props to the designer (probably Mark Stafford, he does pretty much all the mechs) to making this work out really well! Moving to the sword arm, here's another look: The cylinder hilt is stickered all the way around with an attractive gold pair of stickers - they're a pain to put on, but look so good when applied. moving along the sword you'll notice a clever resting spot for Clay's dual molded minifigure-scale sword. It also may not seem like it at first glance, but there's a solid amount of articulation here - the sword can be slashed from left to right and right to left diagonally (as well as up and down), making it good enough for play to me. Too bad the vertical placement is a little awkward to pose. Moving onto the other arm, here's a look at the gun shield: It offers a neat place to store Clay's new warm gold Nexo Shield, but the placement of said shield is a tad awkward, and it leaves an exposed clip on the other side. I do, however, love the shaping of the build - it's simple, yet visually attractive - the slight angles of the wing elements along with the circular stud shooter make it the best large-scale Nexo Shield, in my humble opinion. Moving to the back of the mech: You'll see its decently armored-up, complete with a jetpack that is much better scaled to this than it is to the Battle Suit, although it still juts out a tad. The natural shaping of the mech's back, while attractive, doesn't help this lopsided side view. And there you have it - 72004 Tech Wizard Showdown! It's a solid set for $39.99. $29.99 would have been really nice (Like the King's Mech), but I understand the pricing due to the extra Battle Suit inclusion. Does it have its problems? Certainly. The sizing is the one major problem, making it look like a dwarf with its large torso and short legs. Is it a solid parts pack? Most definitely. Would I pick it up again? For sure. Despite the problems, it's a solid mech, and the Battle Suit really blends in well (the helmet that covers it is a sweet build as well). I'd recommend picking this up if you see it on store shelves. That's it for now - hope you enjoyed the review! I'm a relatively new reviewer experimenting with different techniques (I don't think any of my reviews have shared the same background, as I'm playing around with my setup), so any feedback, good or bad, will be greatly appreciated! Thanks for reading!

    [MOC] Mobile suit "OXON III"

Hi guys! Back in March, I came to this subforum to share my first sci-fi creation (this one). Finishing that one sparked a range of ideas for other builds in the mobile suit (a.k.a. mech) genre. Today I'm sharing my second mobile suit MOC: "OXON III". Overview & Specifications OXON III is an assault-type mobile suit, designed for military interventions and special operations. Model III is loaded with sophisticated features, including: Anti-radar stealth armour Projectile trajectory tracking system (PTTS) Booster-assisted super-maneuverability NervLink cockpit 2 wrist cannons 2 retractable turrets 4 hidden plasma cannons Functionality Target acquired. Shoulder mounted PTTS activated. Plasma cannon hatches deployed. Firing plasma cannons. Deploy and firing turrets. Warning: Failure detected. Location: Left turret. Functionality report: 50%. Condition report: Steady. Cause: Unknown. Ejecting pilot. Articulation & Posability Size comparison Builder's notes I had three main goals in mind for OXON. First of all, it needed to be larger than Handyman (pictured above, left). Secondly, it would have improved articulation and body proportions. Thirdly, I wanted it to have hidden weapons. For the colour scheme, I settled on black, accents of white and (printed) silver decorations. To underline the military, stealthy purpose of the mech, I chose to stick to angular shapes as much as possible. There were a couple of challenges with this build. I started with the thighs, which have an internal bend to allow the legs to come further inward than the standard 90 degree angle (ratcheted joint) with the hips. Then, getting the plasma cannons into the shoulders was harder than I expected. However, the most difficult part came at the end, when I discovered that the ankles needed additional friction to support the weight in various positions. It took a lot of trial and error to figure out the ankle stabilizers, but to be honest I'm really proud of how they work and look. Conclusion Overall, I think I have made great steps with OXON. I achieved the goals that I had in mind and I am more than satisfied with the result. It makes me already look forward to my next mech build! As always, C&C appreciated!
  17. I really like this Year´s Nexo Knights Power Suit Sets. These Sets have quite some Potential for Modifications of all Sorts. A few Days ago a good Friend brought me the yellow Nexo Suit and after i build it the first Time,i instantly had some Ideas on how to modify and improve it. Despite being an armored Exo Suit for one of the NEXO Knights,i always thought it looks more like some sort of futuristic Construction or Cargo Apparatus. Maybe instead of an Axe and a Shield, how about a Claw to handle heavy Stuff and a Drill for Mining? And a Forklift Rollcage wouldn´t look too bad on it either. I added a few more Bits, modified the Arms and Legs a bit and now we have a bulky little Mining Mech. The Claw and the Drill can be moved into pretty much every Position thanks to the Mixels Ball Joints. 18. Bought my first Mixel set since they were on sale in our area. Grabbed the Medivals set since I wanted to create a "mech minotaur" as my first MOC. After a lot of failed attempts I've decided to make an exosuit for my desktop dwarf instead. Parts were inspired by the Mixel builds of chubbybots and dark_syntax Version 1 Dwarven Mech 1 by Jon Jansen Campos, on Flickr Dwarven Mech 2 by Jon Jansen Campos, on Flickr Version 2 I've decided to use as much parts as possible from the Medivals Mixels set to create a 2nd version of my dwarven mech. I tweaked and swap parts all around until I got satisfied with my work. 20. Many artists during October take on the Inktober challenge, drawing in ink every day of October. This year I decided to do something similar, but with MOCs. I've already done a few mechas based off Ksenolog's sketches, but this time around I decided to dedicate a whole month to translating his amazing works into digital 3D lego. This thread is a full collection of my MOCtober entries. #01 Dailybot #699 Original Picture: #02 Dailybot #684 Original Picture: #03 Dailybot #672 Original Picture: #04 Dailybot #692 Original Picture: #05 Dailybot #654 Original Picture: #06 Dailybot #703 Original Picture: #07 Dailybot #601 Original Picture: #08 Dailybot #572 Original Picture: #09 Dailybot #557 Original Picture: #10 Dailybot #522 Original Picture: #11 Dailybot #544 Credit to my spouse for helping with the bg. 21. A need arose in the army of the Galenis Confederation. A war machine like none seen before, a machine that could attack swiftly, engage multiple enemies, and survive unscathed. It needed to be extensively armored, yet fast. And above all else, it had to strike fear into any who opposed it. From the twisted minds of the scientists in Tech Lab 2C came Project Machina Teneb. A hulking beast of metal, the MT-D9 was two/thirds the size of its cousin, the Sprite HK-P4. However, it packed almost four times the firepower, and was over twice as intelligent. MT-D9 Leak More will come soon... This is just a sneak peek. Instructions are now available on BrickSafe!!!

Sprite HK-P4 *Now With FREE Instructions!*

When the Late World Order collapsed in August of 2079, from the ashes of Europe rose the Galenis Confederation, a group of nations bent on control over the remains of the world. Machines were their enforcers, and there was no taking prisoners. The main weapon in their arsenal was the Sprite-class Hunter/Killer (Patrol) drone. Sprite HK-P7 Almost 14 meters tall, this machine has Level 4 AI, meaning it is autonomous, but not free-thinking, and it is tied to a central command system. It is armed with a Martek Industries cannon, capable of firing at a rate of 800 rounds per minute. A Luminaire Tech spotlight augments it's suite of visual detection systems, which include radar, lidar, infrared and ultraviolet. Contained in the body is a Martek Industries Viper Launcher. It has a magazine of 16 rounds of HERP (High Explosive Rocket Pod) missiles. Each missile bursts open to release 7 individual rockets in a dispersed pattern. The Sprite uses several gyroscopes to maintain balance, and it is capable of running at speeds of nearly 50 miles per hour. I have this model built for about two years now... It has been standing on my self, and since I got a new shelf, I had to move it. And I decided it needed some upgrades... I tweaked the head just a bit, and overhauled the feet and lower legs, which were orginnally too bulky for the spindly model. And I will let the photos take the place of words, because I have been rambling on, and no one likes that... This is the view of the oppressed: Sprite HK-P7 Side profile of the Sprite: HK-P7 Profile A view of the cannon. I am quite happy with the design, it works well and is easily side-mounted. In the future, I might try it with the 4L bars instead... Sprite HK-P7 The secret missile launcher: Fire 1! Front view of the entire machine. It is 15 inches tall. Sprite HK-P7 by Will Mood, on Flickr Comments and critiques are welcome. This was my first attempt at building a mech, so tell me how badly I screwed up. I will have another one to show tomorrow as well. Instructions can now be found on BrickSafe. - Leonardo da Bricki
