  1. It is midday in the Forest of Galidor, and the loggers from the nearby village are busy eating lunch. Burt is enjoying a hot cup of joe, while Ernie eats the sandwich his wife made for him. Meanwhile, Walter is busy looking at a map of the forest, when something he sees strikes him as odd. "Mr Big Chief, can you take a look at this?" Walter asks. "Of course, Walter. What is it?" "We've taken trees from all over this forest, with the exception of this area right here" Walter says, pointing to a spot on the map. "Ah, yes. Take a look with these binoculars." Mr Big Chief hands the binoculars to Walter as he begins to explain: "We've tried sending men into that section time after time, and whenever they get close, they suddenly get disoriented and wander the wrong direction. Every time. Most of us oldsters think that part of the wood is haunted, or perhaps magical. The trees there do seem bigger and stronger than most," Mr Big Chief explains. "But it seems that is about to change. See, I received this note this morning, and it says that we will be allowed into that area tonight, but we may only take one specific tree, which will be pointed out to us later..." The Rules, by which we shall play: 1. Each player will be given a character to play. That character will be aligned with either the Oaks or the Maples. To win the game, the Oaks must lynch or kill off all of the Maples, while the Maplesneed to outnumber the Oaks. Any Third Party characters will have their own win conditions. 2. Each day will be played out in its own topic. During the day you will be able to vote to expel (lynch) a player. Voting must be done in the following format: Vote: Character (Player). Similarly, unvoting is to be done in the format: Unvote: Character (Player). No other format will be accepted. A majority vote is required to expel (lynch) a player, meaning that over half of the remaining players must vote for the same player to warrant a lynch. 3. A game day will last for 72 hours. You may not vote in the first 24 hours. The day will end after those 72 hours. After the day has concluded, a night will commence, which will last a maximum of 48 hours. Night actions must be sent to the host in the first 24 hours of nighttime. You may not post about the game openly on Eurobricks during that time (but may continue to use private messages). 4. The alignment of lynched players, as well as those that died during the night, will be revealed at the beginning of the next day. 5. You may not quote or pretend to quote anything sent to you by the game host via PM. This includes the details of your character and role, as well as any night action results. Role claims and reporting of night action results are acceptable, but in your own words only. Do not attempt to use the structure of your role PM to your advantage. 6. You may not quote/post anything sent to you by another player via PM. If you wish to use information gained in this way, you must do so in your own words only. 7. Do not play the game outside the day threads. Similarly, do not post out-of-character inside the day threads. Game tactics and roles may only be discussed in the game thread or via PM with other players. Private discussion is done at your own risk and should be treated as part of the game. 8. If you are dead, you may not post in thread or discuss the game with any of the players (living or dead). Any information you had becomes void, and may not be passed on. 9. Don't edit your posts. 10. You must post in every day thread. 11. Violation of the above rules will result in a 5-vote penalty against you on your first offense, and the death of your character on your second offense. 12. If at any time another player asks you to violate these rules (for example, asking you to give them your role PM), report this to the host immediately along with PM proof of the violation. 2. Day 8: Moving Pictures There is unrest in the forest There is trouble with the trees For the Maples want more sunlight And the Oaks ignore their pleas The trouble with the Maples (And they're quite convinced they're right) They say the Oaks are just too lofty And they grab up all the light But the Oaks can't help their feelings If they like the way they're made And they wonder why the Maples Can't be happy in their shade There is trouble in the forest And the creatures all have fled As the Maples scream 'Oppression!' And the Oaks just shake their heads So the Maples formed a union And demanded equal rights 'The Oaks are just too greedy We will make them give us light' Now there's no more Oak oppression For they passed a noble law Night returns to Galidor, and the few remaining trees wonder who will be next. One of them doesn’t have to wonder. Burt and Ernie come up to Adelaide Apple and start to work. The job is swift and merciful, and Adelaide falls. Mr Big Chief approaches another tree. The end comes quickly to Sue Sumac. Ernie approaches a third tree. “What a beautiful tree,” he says. “I just can’t bring myself to chop this tree down.” And so Simon Persimmon survives to see another day. Dawn breaks, and Alden rouses the three trees that are left. “Last night I saw visions of trees being chopped. Pictures moving through my head, showing me absolute desolation. I was certain it meant the end of Galidor. “Then I awoke to this new day, and lo and behold, only two trees met their fate during the night. What’s more, Sue Sumac was a Maple. Excellent work, my friends. “Unfortunately, you did not choose wisely in your voting. Adelaide was very much an Oak, as she repeatedly told you yesterday. “I would not be surprised if today isn’t the last day of this ordeal. Choose well, the survival of Galidor is on your shoulders. “Addendum: As there are only three players left, I am going to change up the voting a bit for Day 8. Voting will be opened immediately. The day will last a maximum of 72 hours. There will be no Unvoting. Once all three players have voted, or a consensus lynch has been achieved (i.e. two votes for one player), Day 8 will end. “The result of the Lynch will determine the winners. If 72 hours expire and no lynch has been achieved, then Night Actions will determine the winners. “Take your time, do your behind-the-scenes jockeying, and think carefully about where your vote belongs. Remember, once you vote, it is final.” The NPCs: Elder Alden Alder Burt Ernie Mr Big Chief Walter The Players: Lassie Sassafras, played by fhomess Sammy Sycamore, played by Fugazi Simon Persimmon, played by Hinckley The Fallen: Alastair Pear, played by Brickelodeon – Lynched Day 1 – Alignment Unknown Lauren Laurel, played by PirateDave84 – Felled Night 1 – Oak Buck “Dollar” Poplar, played by Mencot – Felled Night 1 - Oak Catarina Dogwood, played by adventurer1 – Lynched Day 2 - Oak Agnes Cyprus, played by JackJonesPaw – Felled Night 2 - Oak Vicky Hickory, played by Stickfig – Felled Night 2 – Oak Larry Larch, played by TheLazyChicken – Lynched Day 3 - Oak Clem Elm, played by Scaevola – Felled Night 3 – Oak Bobby Beech, played by Lord Duvors – Felled Night 3 - Oak Barry Cherry, played by jluck – Felled Night 3 – Alignment Unknown Hazel Hazelnut, played by Goliath – Lynched Day 4 – Alignment Unknown Maggie Magnolia, played by Calanon – Felled Night 4 – Oak Waldorf Walnut, played by jamesn – Felled Night 4 – Oak Berty Birch, played by Dragonfire – Lynched Day 5 – Oak Nash Ash, played by Zepher – Felled Night 5 – Oak Chester Chestnut, played by Lego Spy – Felled Night 5 – Oak Peter Cedar, played by badboytje88 – Felled Night 5 – Alignment Unknown Jack Pine, played by mostlytechnic – Lynched Day 6 - Maple William Willow, played by Scubacarrot – Felled Night 6 – Oak Bruce Spruce, played by Tamamono – Felled Night 6 – Oak Adelaide Apple, played by TinyPiesRUs – Lynched Day 7 – Oak Sue Sumac, played by Bob – Felled Night 7 - Maple The Rules, by which we shall play: 1. 3. Day 7: Permanent Waves There is unrest in the forest There is trouble with the trees For the Maples want more sunlight And the Oaks ignore their pleas The trouble with the Maples (And they're quite convinced they're right) They say the Oaks are just too lofty And they grab up all the light But the Oaks can't help their feelings If they like the way they're made And they wonder why the Maples Can't be happy in their shade There is trouble in the forest And the creatures all have fled As the Maples scream 'Oppression!' And the Oaks just shake their heads So the Maples formed a union And demanded equal rights 'The Oaks are just too greedy We will make them give us light' Night comes for the sixth time to the Forest Clearing of Galidor. The all too familiar hum of the generators and thwacks of axe falls soon fills the air. Mr Big Chief begins his night by taking down one of the smallest remaining trees. It is not difficult, and soon Jack Pine lies on the forest floor. Since he is in the area, Mr Big Chief tackles the next tree, which is a bit more substantial. It isn’t long before William Willow joins his bretheren in the stumpy afterlife. Meanwhile Burt and Ernie go to work on a decent sized tree. They watch, satisfied, as Bruce Spruce crashes to the ground. The following morning, Alden the Elder Alder speaks to the diminished forest. “Ahh, feel the wind blowing through your leaves. Strange thing, the wind, almost like a semi-permanent wave, always there, but changing form.” The remaining trees aren’t sure what to make of the Alder’s sudden, philosophical tangent. “I have good news and I have bad news,” he continues. “Bad news first. We lost two good trees last night. Bruce Spruce and William Willow were both Oaks.” “However, there is good news. Jack Pine was decidedly a Maple, just as you suspected. “There is still hope. You found one Maple, you can find the rest. Go to it.” The NPCs: Elder Alden Alder Burt Ernie Mr Big Chief Walter The Players: Adelaide Apple, played by TinyPiesRUs Lassie Sassafras, played by fhomess Sammy Sycamore, played by Fugazi Simon Persimmon, played by Hinckley Sue Sumac, played by Bob The Fallen: Alastair Pear, played by Brickelodeon – Lynched Day 1 – Alignment Unknown Lauren Laurel, played by PirateDave84 – Felled Night 1 – Oak Buck “Dollar” Poplar, played by Mencot – Felled Night 1 - Oak Catarina Dogwood, played by adventurer1 – Lynched Day 2 - Oak Agnes Cyprus, played by JackJonesPaw – Felled Night 2 - Oak Vicky Hickory, played by Stickfig – Felled Night 2 – Oak Larry Larch, played by TheLazyChicken – Lynched Day 3 - Oak Clem Elm, played by Scaevola – Felled Night 3 – Oak Bobby Beech, played by Lord Duvors – Felled Night 3 - Oak Barry Cherry, played by jluck – Felled Night 3 – Alignment Unknown Hazel Hazelnut, played by Goliath – Lynched Day 4 – Alignment Unknown Maggie Magnolia, played by Calanon – Felled Night 4 – Oak Waldorf Walnut, played by jamesn – Felled Night 4 – Oak Berty Birch, played by Dragonfire – Lynched Day 5 – Oak Nash Ash, played by Zepher – Felled Night 5 – Oak Chester Chestnut, played by Lego Spy – Felled Night 5 – Oak Peter Cedar, played by badboytje88 – Felled Night 5 – Alignment Unknown Jack Pine, played by mostlytechnic – Lynched Day 6 - Maple William Willow, played by Scubacarrot – Felled Night 6 – Oak Bruce Spruce, played by Tamamono – Felled Night 6 - Oak The Rules, by which we shall play: 1. 4. Day 6: Hemispheres There is unrest in the forest There is trouble with the trees For the Maples want more sunlight And the Oaks ignore their pleas The trouble with the Maples (And they're quite convinced they're right) They say the Oaks are just too lofty And they grab up all the light But the Oaks can't help their feelings If they like the way they're made And they wonder why the Maples Can't be happy in their shade There is trouble in the forest And the creatures all have fled As the Maples scream 'Oppression!' And the Oaks just shake their heads So the Maples formed a union And demanded equal rights As night silently falls, the now familiar sounds of mechanical day and the hum of tree-killing tools fills Galidor. Burt and Ernie start by felling one of the larger trees of the forest, a hearty birch tree. It’s hard work, but a few hours later Berty lies on the forest floor. Mr. Big Chief gets to work in another section of the forest. And soon enough, Nash Ash joins Berty as a victim of the night. Walter gets to work with his chainsaw on yet another tree. Suddenly, his saw strikes something very solid in the heart of the tree. Apparently some activists had implanted steel spikes into the trunk to prevent it from being chopped down. Walter’s chainsaw goes flying through the air, still running... … and barely misses Mr Big Chief before miraculously cutting cleanly through Peter Cedar. Meanwhile, Burt and Ernie finish the job Walter started, felling Chester Chestunut. In a fit of uncharacteristic rage, Mr Big Chief dynamites the stump, leaving a large hole where Peter once stood proudly. The Elder Alder Alden wakes to the carnage of the previous night. “Four more beautiful trees felled during the night. I fear our world is being torn asunder into hollow hemispheres. “Once again, your voting has not produced fruit. Berty Birch was a loyal Oak. So were his friends, Nash Ash and Chester Chestnut. Peter Cedar’s stump is missing, so I cannot tell you his alignment. “So many trees gone, and yet not a verified Maple among them. Please, find a Maple today.” The NPCs: Elder Alden Alder Burt Ernie Mr Big Chief Walter The Players: Adelaide Apple, played by TinyPiesRUs Bruce Spruce, played by Tamamono Jack Pine, played by mostlytechnic Lassie Sassafras, played by fhomess Sammy Sycamore, played by Fugazi Simon Persimmon, played by Hinckley Sue Sumac, played by Bob William Willow, played by Scubacarrot The Fallen: Alastair Pear, played by Brickelodeon – Lynched Day 1 – Alignment Unknown Lauren Laurel, played by PirateDave84 – Felled Night 1 – Oak Buck “Dollar” Poplar, played by Mencot – Felled Night 1 - Oak Catarina Dogwood, played by adventurer1 – Lynched Day 2 - Oak Agnes Cyprus, played by JackJonesPaw – Felled Night 2 - Oak Vicky Hickory, played by Stickfig – Felled Night 2 – Oak Larry Larch, played by TheLazyChicken – Lynched Day 3 - Oak Clem Elm, played by Scaevola – Felled Night 3 – Oak Bobby Beech, played by Lord Duvors – Felled Night 3 - Oak Barry Cherry, played by jluck – Felled Night 3 – Alignment Unknown Hazel Hazelnut, played by Goliath – Lynched Day 4 – Alignment Unknown Maggie Magnolia, played by Calanon – Felled Night 4 – Oak Waldorf Walnut, played by jamesn – Felled Night 4 – Oak Berty Birch, played by Dragonfire – Lynched Day 5 – Oak Nash Ash, played by Zepher – Felled Night 5 – Oak Chester Chestnut, played by Lego Spy – Felled Night 5 – Oak Peter Cedar, played by badboytje88 – Felled Night 5 – Alignment Unknown The Rules, by which we shall play: 1. 5. Day 5: A Farewell to Kings There is unrest in the forest There is trouble with the trees For the Maples want more sunlight And the Oaks ignore their pleas The trouble with the Maples (And they're quite convinced they're right) They say the Oaks are just too lofty And they grab up all the light But the Oaks can't help their feelings If they like the way they're made And they wonder why the Maples Can't be happy in their shade There is trouble in the forest And the creatures all have fled As the Maples scream 'Oppression!' And the Oaks just shake their heads Night falls once again on Galidor, and the humans enter with their tools that bring death to the forest. Walter begins the night’s work by felling Hazel Hazelnut. Once on the ground, Walter remembers the Chief saying that this stump is to be removed. He sets the dynamite, lights the fuse, and then runs like hell. The explosives do their work, and where once stood a hazelnut tree, all that remains is a hole. Burt and Ernie get the honor of felling one of the largest trees in the forest. After hours of cutting, finally Waldorf Walnut falls to the ground. Mr Big Chief prepares to fell a smaller tree, but Burt interrupts him. “I’ve always wanted to try this!” Burt exclaims, as he takes a running start, then jumps into a flying ninja kick. As he picks himself up off the ground, he is amazed that it actually worked. Maggie Magnolia lies there, separated from her stump. The Elder Alder Alden stirs once again to find more of the beautiful trees gone from the forest. “It is with a sad heart that we must bid farewell to one of the kings of this forest, Waldorf Walnut. He was one of the oldest trees here, and a good friend. He was one of the staunchest Oaks as well. “It seems Maggie Magnolia is also missing. Her rings indicate that she, too, was an Oak. “And it comes as little surprise that Hazel Hazelnut has been removed, stump and all. I wish I could tell you that you found a Maple, but I am unable to. Time grows short. You must start finding some Maples. Go.” The NPCs: Elder Alden Alder Burt Ernie Mr Big Chief Walter The Players: Adelaide Apple, played by TinyPiesRUs Berty Birch, played by Dragonfire Bruce Spruce, played by Tamamono Chester Chestnut, played by Lego Spy Jack Pine, played by mostlytechnic Lassie Sassafras, played by fhomess Nash Ash, played by Zephyr Peter Cedar, played by badboytje88 Sammy Sycamore, played by Fugazi Simon Persimmon, played by Hinckley Sue Sumac, played by Bob William Willow, played by Scubacarrot The Fallen: Alastair Pear, played by Brickelodeon – Lynched Day 1 – Alignment Unknown Lauren Laurel, played by PirateDave84 – Felled Night 1 – Oak Buck “Dollar” Poplar, played by Mencot – Felled Night 1 - Oak Catarina Dogwood, played by adventurer1 – Lynched Day 2 - Oak Agnes Cyprus, played by JackJonesPaw – Felled Night 2 - Oak Vicky Hickory, played by Stickfig – Felled Night 2 – Oak Larry Larch, played by TheLazyChicken – Lynched Day 3 - Oak Clem Elm, played by Scaevola – Felled Night 3 – Oak Bobby Beech, played by Lord Duvors – Felled Night 3 - Oak Barry Cherry, played by jluck – Felled Night 3 – Alignment Unknown Hazel Hazelnut, played by Goliath – Lynched Day 4 – Alignment Unknown Maggie Magnolia, played by Calanon – Felled Night 4 – Oak Waldorf Walnut, played by jamesn – Felled Night 4 - Oak The Rules, by which we shall play: 1. DAY 4: 2112 There is unrest in the forest There is trouble with the trees For the Maples want more sunlight And the Oaks ignore their pleas The trouble with the Maples (And they're quite convinced they're right) They say the Oaks are just too lofty And they grab up all the light But the Oaks can't help their feelings If they like the way they're made And they wonder why the Maples Can't be happy in their shade Once again, night falls on the copse at the center of Galidor. And again, the silence is shattered by the roar of generators, the hum of chainsaws, the pounding thud of axe-falls and the rhythm of hand saws at work. Burt and Ernie work diligently and with care. Their expertise shows, and soon Larry Larch lies on the forest floor. Mr. Big Chief rests on his axe, watching as Barry Cherry falls down. “Walter” he shouts. “Did you bring the dynamite?” “Right here, boss!” “Good. This stump needs to be removed.” Moments later, a tremendous boom echoes through the remaining trees. All that is left is a blackened hole where Barry once stood. Walter also takes time to relax, after cutting down Clem Elm in the prime of his life, as Burt and Ernie put in some overtime bringing Bobby Beech down. The next morning, Elder Alden Alder addresses the remaining trees. “What do you think you trees are doing?! Four trees felled last night?! At this rate, none of us will survive. “When we started this, I expected 2 trees felled, hopefully with 1 Maple. 1 Maple in 2 trees would have been acceptable losses. Not four. And I can’t even read Barry’s alignment, his stump has been removed. I can tell you that Larry, Clem and Bobby were all Oaks. “You must do better today. Get to work.” The NPCs: Elder Alden Alder Burt Ernie Mr Big Chief Walter The Players: Adelaide Apple, played by TinyPiesRUs Berty Birch, played by Dragonfire Bruce Spruce, played by Tamamono Chester Chestnut, played by Lego Spy Hazel Hazelnut, played by Goliath Jack Pine, played by mostlytechnic Lassie Sassafras, played by fhomess Maggie Magnolia, played by Calanon Nash Ash, played by Zephyr Peter Cedar, played by badboytje88 Sammy Sycamore, played by Fugazi Simon Persimmon, played by Hinckley Sue Sumac, played by Bob Waldorf Walnut, played by jamesn William Willow, played by Scubacarrot The Fallen: Alastair Pear, played by Brickelodeon – Lynched Day 1 – Alignment Unknown Lauren Laurel, played by PirateDave84 – Felled Night 1 – Oak Buck “Dollar” Poplar, played by Mencot – Felled Night 1 - Oak Catarina Dogwood, played by adventurer1 – Lynched Day 2 - Oak Agnes Cyprus, played by JackJonesPaw – Felled Night 2 - Oak Vicky Hickory, played by Stickfig – Felled Night 2 – Oak Larry Larch, played by TheLazyChicken – Lynched Day 3 - Oak Clem Elm, played by Scaevola – Felled Night 3 – Oak Bobby Beech, played by Lord Duvors – Felled Night 3 - Oak Barry Cherry, played by jluck – Felled Night 3 – Alignment Unknown The Rules, by which we shall play: 1. The roar of the generators pierces the silence and the glare of artificial light fills the forest floor. Walter approaches a Dogwood tree. “Aww, it’s another sapling. Ah well, this won’t take long.” His words prove prophetic. His chainsaw roars to life, and quickly Catarina Dogwood is felled. “What’s with all these saplings?” Burt laments. “Why can’t we take down some of these nice, big trees?” “Orders are orders,” Ernie comments. “Let’s get to work.” With little effort, the pair fells Agnes Cyprus. “Ahh, finally a decent sized tree,” says Mr Big Chief. He gets to work with his axe, skillfully felling Vickory Hickory.” The next morning, Alden surveys the carnage. “You have not chosen very well, my friends. In addition to Catarina, Vicky and Agnes have also left us. All three were Oaks. “I fear that if you don’t start identifying the Maples soon, we shall all feel the caress of steel.” The NPCs: Elder Alden Alder Burt Ernie Mr Big Chief Walter The Players: Adelaide Apple, played by Tiny Pies are Us Barry Cherry, played by jluck Berty Birch, played by Dragonfire Bobby Beech, played by Lord Duvors Bruce Spruce, played by Tamamono Chester Chestnut, played by Lego Spy Clem Elm, played by Scaevola Hazel Hazelnut, played by Goliath Jack Pine, played by mostlytechnic Larry Larch, played by TheLazyChicken Lassie Sassafras, played by fhomess Maggie Magnolia, played by Calanon Nash Ash, played by Zephyr Peter Cedar, played by badboytje88 Sammy Sycamore, played by Fugazi Simon Persimmon, played by Hinckley Sue Sumac, played by Bob Waldorf Walnut, played by jamesn William Willow, played by Scubacarrot The Fallen: Alastair Pear, played by Brickelodeon – Lynched Day 1 – Alignment Unknown Lauren Laurel, played by PirateDave84 – Felled Night 1 – Oak Buck “Dollar” Poplar, played by Mencot – Felled Night 1 - Oak Catarina Dogwood, played by adventurer1 – Lynched Day 2 - Oak Agnes Cyprus, played by JackJonesPaw – Felled Night 2 - Oak Vicky Hickory, played by Stickfig – Felled Night 2 - Oak The Rules, by which we shall play: 1. 8. DAY 2: FLY BY NIGHT There is unrest in the forest There is trouble with the trees For the Maples want more sunlight And the Oaks ignore their pleas The loggers enter the forest that night. At first there is relative quiet, then the raucous noise of a portable generator fills Galidor, as floodlights bring day to the inky darkness. “Hey boss, we’re looking for a pear tree, right?” calls Burt. “I found one right here!” “Aww, it’s just a sapling,” cries Ernie. “Well, a pear is what we came for, and a pear is what we’ll take,” says Mr Big Chief. “But boss, it’s so small and frail,” Ernie argues, why, I could almost reach out and pluck…” “OOOPS.” With surprisingly little effort, Ernie plucks Alastair Pear right out of the ground, roots and all. All that is left is a small mound of deep, rich soil where he once stood. “Well, I guess our job is done here,” says Walter. “Not so fast. It seems there are some other trees we get to take down tonight,” Mr Big Chief says. “We’ll fell them tonight, then come tomorrow to pick them up. Get to work.” The sounds of sawing and the bite of hatchets goes on through the night. It’s enough to cause the trees to stir, but not enough to wake them from their sleep. The following morning, Alden the Elder Alder calls the trees to attention. “It seems the humans have done their dirty work, and I must say, it is not positive for us Oaks. Alastair Pear has indeed been removed, but there is no stump left for me to examine. I cannot tell you his alignment. “In addition, Buck ‘Dollar’ Poplar was taken down last night. “Lauren Laurel has been felled as well. Both of their stumps clearly show that they are Oaks. “There is some good news, however. Since Buck and Lauren’s stumps remain, they can still speak, though it might pain them to do so. “So get to it, find me a Maple.” MOD NOTE: There are some rule changes, highlighted below, concerning Tree Stumps. 9. DAY 1: RUSH There is unrest in the forest There is trouble with the trees Standing tall over all the other trees in the heart of Galidor forest is the Elder, Alden Alder. As the trees rouse from their nightly slumber, he begins to speak. “My brethren, I am glad to see all of you well on this beautiful morn. I fear, however, that much darker days lie ahead. “As most of you know, the Maples have always been frustrated by the heights the Oaks reach. They feel that the Oaks block all of the light, and become frustrated by their lack of pure sunlight. “It seems the Maples have decided to take a more aggressive stand. I have evidence that they have contacted the human loggers, guaranteeing access to our sacred grove here at night. Their plans are to allow the loggers to harvest the Oaks at night, removing them and claiming the forest for themselves! We cannot allow this to happen! We must fight back. “I would call out the Maples right now, and admonish them publicly. But in my advanced age, I seem to have forgotten who among you are Maples and who are Oaks. Unfortunately the only way to tell for certain is for me to examine the ring patterns from a tree’s stump. “So here is what I decree. Each day you must talk amongst yourselves. Then you will vote for the tree you feel most strongly is a Maple. I will contact the humans and have that tree felled during the night, and in the morning I will examine the rings on the stump. Once we have removed all of the Maples, our forest will once again have peace. Yes, some wonderful Oaks may be lost, but our forest will be healthier in the long run for it! “So that’s it. Go, root out those Maples!” The trees’ leaves wilt slightly. It will be hard to watch their friends, their forest-mates, die a foul and horrible death. But the Elder’s words are not to be disobeyed. They sadly begin their task… The NPCs: Elder Alden Alder Burt Ernie Mr Big Chief Walter The Players: Adelaide Apple, played by Tiny Pies are Us Agnes Cyprus, played by JackJonesPaw Alastair Pear, played by Brickelodeon Barry Cherry, played by jluck Berty Birch, played by Dragonfire Bobby Beech, played by Lord Duvors Bruce Spruce, played by Tamamono Buck “Dollar” Poplar, played by Mencot Catarina Dogwood, played by adventurer1 Chester Chestnut, played by Lego Spy Clem Elm, played by Scaevola Hazel Hazelnut, played by Goliath Jack Pine, played by mostlytechnic Larry Larch, played by TheLazyChicken Lassie Sassafras, played by fhomess Lauren Laurel, played by PirateDave84 Maggie Magnolia, played by Calanon Nash Ash, played by Zephyr Peter Cedar, played by badboytje88 Sammy Sycamore, played by Fugazi Simon Persimmon, played by Hinckley Sue Sumac, played by Bob Vicky Hickory, played by Stickfig Waldorf Walnut, played by jamesn William Willow, played by Scubacarrot The Rules, by which we shall play: 1. 10. Walter Kovacs proudly presents his first Mafia Game: Unrest in the Forest I am looking for 23 players. If I get more, I will look into adding more roles. If I get less, I'll adjust accordingly. For those that have never played a Mafia game before, but are interested: feel free to sign-up. I will give preference to those who have completed at least one Mafia-school game, but if I'm severely short on players I will let Noobies in. My first game was a non-Mafia school game, so it is certainly is possible to play well in a big boy game without Mafia School. A few questions: 1. How many Mafia games have you played here on EB? 1a. If you have NOT played any games, how many have you read through? Have you ever visited and looked through Mafiascum? 2. Have you read the Rules (which are provided below for your convenience)? Are you prepared to follow them? 3. Do you promise to have fun, and treat the game as a game? The Rules, by which we shall play: 1. Each player will be given a character to play. That character will be aligned with either the Oaks or the Maples. To win the game, the Oaks must lynch or kill off all of the Maples, while the Maples need to outnumber the Oaks. Any Third Party characters will have their own win conditions. 2. Each day will be played out in its own topic. During the day you will be able to vote to expel (lynch) a player. 10. If at any time another player asks you to violate these rules (for example, asking you to give them your role PM), report this to the host immediately along with PM proof of the violation. EDIT: How the hell did that happen? I never hit post. I'll clean this up a bit, give me a few minutes. EDIT2: Dear God, this is bordering on ridiculous. The extra sign-up threads need to go away. Still no clue how this sort of thing happens.
  11. Xenomorphic Monoxide tries to defend himself. "Um, I can't change your minds, I guess. I suppose I could nominate someone better, and give reasons, or I could go through the voting record and consider the events of the last week and try to put something together." The crowd moves closer. "Nah, you guys have made up your mind." The crowd moves round him, and gives him a hearty beating. He was Town. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Goliath contemplates on his position. "Hard to believe I almost quit day one! And now I'm one of the few to make it to the end! Must be because of my sharp gameplay!" In the prattle of self-congratulations, he never hears Stickfig approaching. "Hey Goliath! I think you have something in your eye!" Goliath turns around to get a blast of Stickfig's optic beam in the face. Satisfied in his evil, Stickfig himself never hears the dark crusader enter the room. WHAP! Stickfig never stood a chance. Captain Settle takes a moment to congratulate himself. "Did I vig kill four of the scum in six nights? Holy megabluck!" The lights turn on, and Cutcobra enters the room. "Hey bro! What's up?" He takes a look at the two bodies. "Whoa! Like, did you do that? Is it just us left? Cuz I'm town. And if you're the vig, that means you're, like, town too! Gnarly! I won!" And so it is, their host enters the room. "Yes, it is over. You two are the lone survivors. I suppose it is best that town won this game, what with the hinky stuff on days four and five. Town might legitimately complained if scum won. At the very least, we can happily say that some of town was playing, and some of scum was playing, so it wasn't a cakewalk for either team. Congratulations!! Congratulations Town! You win! Captain Settle, Cutcobra, Kintober, Jamesn, Scaevola, Mencot, Goliath, Mostly Technic, Stinky Dave, Lind Whisperer, Adventurer1, and Xenophobic, you were the winning team! Thank you all around for your patience. I know there were some hiccups, and I know I lacked tact in places as I scrambled to keep things going, but overall, there were a lot of great things going on in this game, and I'm looking forward to seeing a bunch of new players join the ranks of EB's mafia tradition! I'll be doing a write up rating everyone, and give whatever feedback you want. Anybody is free to post in this topic. Night actions: Player Ratings! I know everyone looks forward to this, and at this point, as a host I dread it. The main reason is this: if any of you have played with me, you know I get irritated with people not playing. I get mad sometimes. I get into mafia, and I think people who play apathetically make the game frustrating for those into it. So, to give feedback, that's where my head is at, but the key point is to be encouraging to all of you, to make you want to try this again! So, I need to choose my words carefully. With that, let me state it up front: Captain Settle and Jluck played well, and everyone else was okay or worse. Keep in mind, that the best mafia players tend to play about 50% good games, but 25% good games may be more realistic. Those other games, you can be competent, but you're not hitting homeruns. You're simply participating well. Also, I don't know most of you, so you were all a big blur from sign up to about day two. Okay, so, person by person: Captain Settle - Great game. I have to imagine you have some mafia experience, since you played quiet enough, didn't freak out when nominated for lynch like many other players did (which pushed them deeper in trouble), and you had a great scum killing record. Well done. Big pass. Cutcobra - I don't know what you did. You showed up and commented, but really, you need to dig your teeth in more in the game. It was no surprise you lasted to the end. Pass, with reservations. Kintober - Now, I gave you a bit of private advice about how to be the cop, and I think you went with it and consulted Settle, but I really don't know how you communicated. I am still baffled about you claiming cop. You could assume scum had a role cop, but they would just kill you if they knew you were the cop. So, that was a bad strategy, but you took the advice about getting in touch with the people you investigated, with the caveat that a godfather exists, so that means a lot. Not much of a mafia school if you don't take instruction. Pass. Jamesn - I think you could have done it a lot better. Put up a much better fight on the day one lynch. Doctor is an overrated role, since it is usually effective only once per game, but claiming it with two hours left on the clock wasn't the best thing to do. I was a little disappointed that a vet played that way. N/A Scaevola - I thought you played okay, but didn't have much time to do anything. Scum wanted you gone, and that's a good thing. Pass. Mencot - I still think you have a very weird attitude to mafia right now. There's this massive confidence, but I think you're missing some fundamentals. Like, that last game, you investigated me (the godfather) and said you didn't think there was a godfather, despite it being the main role of scum. And the thing with Dave. Like, right from the start, I said to not lynch active players immediately, and Dave was one of the most active, actually talking game rather than doing any sort of role playing. So that just seemed the wrong direction to me. I know Jluck kept posting your lists to the scum board, and they were 30% right, but I didn't understand why they chose to kill you. It seemed like Jluck could have strung you along a little longer. Goliath - You were much like Cutcobra. On day one, you were up to lynch, and cracked under the pressure (fair enough, especially early games can get your blood pumping and make your temper rise) but then after that, you became a lazy player. It was no surprise you lasted to the end. Pass, with reservations. Mostly Technic - Taken out too early to make any judgment. Stinky Dave - I thought you were doing great early on except for one point I disagreed with: you were against discussing mechanics (that was you, wasn't it?) In general, it's a way to get the ball rolling, and especially in a game like this where a lot of people had wacky ideas of the number of scum (three vs 16 town?!! What?! ), it was pretty necessary. That thing with Mencot was not good, as discussed on the Deadboard. Lying about evidence against another townie is a bad scene. In a proper game, that would have been auto-lynch for Mencot. Only the n00biness of this group prevented his lynch. Lind Whisperer - I'm really on the fence about your participation. You were somewhat aggressive about how others were playing, but in numerous places, showed that you didn't fully grasp the rules. I think especially in your situation, you needed to be humble. Still have an opinion, but be nicer about it, especially when you're technically a n00b. I debated about explaining why mandatory voting was important, since I worried it may peg you as a townie, but it was an important thing to point out. You were voting with the bandwagon, and were not in any way obligated to do so! Just vote for anybody else, and you will no longer be part of the bandwagon. I've had disagreements on the phrase "throwing away your vote" in other games, since a vote for someone that definitely won't be lynched is a way to make an easy decision and not weigh in with the group (or push for a non-lynch). After that, you never joined the Deadboard, which would have been a place to figure out better ways to approach the game. You really should have spent a lot of time on the Deadboard. I encourage you to continue, but you need to take in a lot more strategy and concepts about the game. Pass, with major reservations. Adventurer1 - Three scum? That was you, right? The rest of your play was okay. Xenophobic - You should never have been lynched. You were up for lynch against Brickelodeon, and scum voted against you to save her. In fact, Jluck and Brickelodeon had been killed and came up scum. Did you bring that up when you were up for lynch? Nope. You, of anyone playing, should have been acutely aware of that, because you were town, and there was no lynch that day... You were town, and you just let them vote you out, no argument, just a "What can I do?" That was bad. Not a matter of failing to succeed, but failing to try. That is the key to this whole thing. Your effort. Fail. Please try again. Pyrovisionary - You broke the rules twice, you were kicked out, you still haven't contacted me to apologise (not in a major, on your knees sort of thing, but a common mature adult, "Sorry, I <excuse>. My bad.). With that type of commitment and attitude, I would have reservations about passing you in future games. You'd have to show a major turnaround. This is not the worst kind of player, but it's pretty high on the host's list of people to avoid. Fail. The Lazy Chicken - Honestly, you weren't doing great when you were pulled out. The part where you said, "People are saying I'm scum for not participating, so I'm participating," was not great strategy. You tried to defend yourself, and failed by posting photos of your PMs. The EB mafia rules may have to be rewritten because of you. I think you'll be three times as good a player three games from now. Trumpet King can be your big brother. As promised, N/A. Brickelodeon - You posted a lot of back ideas in thread. In a very early game, it is passable, but people won't put up for it in the future. You will get quickly lynched if you seriously want people to read into the pictures. But, you have real enthusiasm, so I think you'll be a great player in the future. Pass. Richela - You were busy day one, then taken out early. I don't know your abilities, but I appreciated that you kept up with the game afterward. You seemed to have a good attitude. Pass, with reservations. Lord Duvors - You were really active at one point and I had a favourable review of you, then dropped out and never defended yourself. And never took part on the Deadboard, that I remember. Pass, with reservations. Stickfig - You had a weird strategy, posting vote tallies every time you posted. You were really scumming. I mentioned it already, but presenting info isn't enough. You need to make conclusions, whether wrong or right. It's not enough to look active. It is all fluff if that's all you do. Pass. Jluck - You did good, Settle did better. Still think you should have strung Mencot along more. The scum team on the whole took suggestions very well. They had a conflicting voting record, they were generally active. Jluck got busy with the PMs, and the rest of the team would be well-served to do so as well. The more you play town, the easier it gets to merge your town and scum game, and the harder you are to read. Some of you may take umbrage at my results, and I can't help it. If you disagree, the best thing you can do is prove me wrong in the future. Hopefully a proper game comes up soon. I have to dig into my comic work again for the next number of weeks, but if no game has popped up by December, I'll consider hosting another variable ability mafia game (like in Bloodbrick II), which is super fun for n00bs, since everyone gets a chance to have abilities.
  12. The Lazy Chicken makes his defence. "Guys, I can totally exonerate myself, look, I have photos! Look!" The small crowd around him isn't impressed. "Look! Why so ser--" And he disappears. The host is baffled as well, as the whole thing is a bizarre sort of new territory. The day ends. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The night has come. Kintober wanders the halls. "I told them I was the cop. Did they believe me? Do they think I'm the cop?" She hears a sugary voice summon her. "Well howdy, Investigatirino! How do you do?" The Ned Flanders dressed character approaches her with purpose. As he speaks, he raises his tool box toward her. "You must know that publicly claiming cop is a death diddly-eath sentence." And he brings his tool box upon her head. And again. And again. Leaving behind a Town corpse. "Diddly." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Brickelodeon reflects on her continued existence. "I survived. It was a technicality of sorts, but I survived." A whirring and clicking, and the hum of electricity alerts her of something that is probably predictable by now. "I am MODOK, the greatest character ever created, also known as MECHANISED ORGANISM DESIGNED ONLY FOR KILLING. It is not my choice. That is all I can do." Brickelodeon is about to scream when she is vaporised, a hint of scum left wafting in the air. And that is the end of night five and the beginning of day six. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Dr. def is tired and cranky, writing up mafia captions on a Saturday night," MODOK says, surprising the reader. "Already in this game, there has been a rule break God kill, and now on day five, a massive disruption that ruptured the entire day. I trust that the remaining five of you can manage to get through this day without any major problems?" Voting begins in 24 hours. Third-party (neutral) characters have their own win conditions as outlined in their roles. 2. Each day you will be able to vote to lynch a player. Voting is mandatory. Voting should be done in the following format; Vote: Character (Player). Similarly, unvoting is to be done in the format; Unvote: Character (Player). No other format will be accepted. 13. The crowd stands around, thumb up their butts at the end of day four. "So, no lynch today, eh?" Someone asks Pyrovisionary, "Hey, you only posted once today, and you didn't even vote, despite receiving a warning on day one, and rule 11 being posted every game day stating that a second offence would result in death. That doesn't seem particularly sporting of you. You would think that if you were absolutely too busy to play, you would inform the host of the problem and come up with some sort of solution?" Pyro doesn't answer. He's not here. In an unprecedented event, heretofore unseen on Eurobricks, God themselves enters the scene, plucking the lazy raccoon fetishist from his plot. With a few quick snaps, reflective of the power of an omnipotent ruler, Pyrovisionary is rendered into pieces. The Lazy Chicken laughs, "Why so serious! Ha ha ha!" The crowd eyes him dirtily. "What? Too soon?" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Night falls, and poor Adventurer1 can't enjoy themselves without their cosplaying Leia partner. "Oh dear, I'm in a night scene, I know what that means." A dark figure approaches. "Fa- father? Is that you?" Adventurer meekly asks the figure. "No." They are enveloped with a force blast, rupturing all internal organs. "It... kind of... tickles!" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Later, the Batmen are getting ready to say goodnight. "No worry guys, I'll be in bed in a sec, I just want to do one more round of the floor and see what's up." "Uh, which one am I? I'm the comic book Batman, so I guess I'm Jluck?" Jluck hears a cackling voice that chills his spine. "Riddle me this, Jluck, when is a banana not a banana?" Jluck grunts. "I'm not a big fan of riddles." Striking the cosplayer with his massive banana, he tells the none-too-humourous answer: "When it's banana splitting your head open!" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The good doctor makes his filmed appearance. "Well, again, this is an interesting result. You'll be unsurprised that Pyrovisionary is town. It's rare that someone plays so lazily when they are involved with such a tight knit team. He was the quintessential "lazy townie" that you hear so much about in these games. Adventurer1? Total townie. But Jluck? Utter scumbag, through and through." 14. The crowd surrounds Lord Duvors. "Duvors, it's time for you! It's curtains!" Duvors sort of responds. "What? No, I'm going to vote. I'm going to vote too. Yup. I'm gonna." But he doesn't. All he does is vibrate wildly, and not only his head, but the entirety of him explodes. He leaves stains. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Night falls, and poor old Mencot is loning about, wondering how he is going to lead the town. "Me, I'm the one whose going to save this place, am I not? "Lo, I am lost! What shall I do from now?" He hears a soft shuffle behind him, and turns to see a familiar face behind him. "Why William Shakespeare? The Immortal Bard himself, here to give me wisdom in my moment of crisis? Huzzah, oh, magical day!" Shakespeare doesn't hesitate to set him straight. "No, he's been dead for hundreds of years. This is a costume." BOOM ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Later, Lind Whisperer comes across Mencot's battered body. "NOOOOOO! LIND WHISPERER MAKE FRIEND, FRIEND DIES!!" Before he can bawl his eyes out, he is approached. "Lind Whisperer, it ends here!" "Puny man, nothing can stop Lind Whisperer!" The man in the can sets him straight. "No, you're just in a costume." And that is the end of Lind Whisperer. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Good morning my pets! I have some good news and some bad news. First, the good news. Duvors was Scum! You lynched wisely! The bad news? Both Mencot and Lind Whisperer were Town. They are gone." Dr. Def pauses. "Alright, it's time for day four. To start the day, I have a little homework for you, something for your so-called 'mafia school.' The question? 15. "Arrgh, y'all be dumb megablocks," Stinky Dave says by way of a defence. "Be that as it may," Mencot opines, "you are a total mouth trash." "I be knowin' what I be doing, y'all have nothin' on Stinky Dave." Dave pulls up some bile, "Why I oughtta!" "Why so serious? Ha ha ha!" POP! goes Stinky Dave's head, in a far more interesting, but possibly unreplicable, graphic than Jamesn had. "That'll leave a mark." And so Dave leaves the game. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Night falls. Scaevola wanders the quiet floor. "Oh that Stinky Dave, if I can say one nice thing about him, he didn't bleed on my nice white outfit. This outfit took me hours to make." From behind her, she hears a little whirring approach. "Oh hey little guy, are you looking for a friend?" she asks. "Bee booo!" With a few clicks, Scaevola dies, also coincidently in a somewhat better graphic than from night one. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Meanwhile, Richela has snuck out to the roof for a smoke. "Ah, the cool breeze." She sighs and smiles. A whirring occurs. "Oh hi li'l guy. How strange that you would come see me. I thought the scum killer was represented by an artoo unit." "Beeyuuuuuuoooo" "Oh, so it's a post-modern commentary on the arbitrariness of night kills. An invitation to the town to not read into images as anything other than entertainment, since this is not a puzzle game, but rather a mafia game," she gathers from his clicks. "Be boo bee!" "And in future nights, if the mode of kill were to change, it would simply to keep game images fresh as opposed to a sign that something fundamental has changed? That makes sense." "Beuuii"! "Oh, so you're saying--" And with that, Richela is the third player out of the game on night two. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "GOOD MORNING!" "Well, your lynch was a total bust. Stinky Dave was town." A gasp rolls through the room. "And you've lost another of your own, Scaevola. Tough titties. Town is down four." A hush comes among them. "BUT! Someone did something right, maybe, if they were town." A second gasp fills the room. "Richela was scum. You have taken out your first scum. Well, you didn't. You lynched another townie. That's two active players in two days. I guess the lesson is to say little in thread if you want to sit around and see if you're the last townie left before you lose the game. Active people? You guys will lynch them. Anyway, thank the one of you that actually killed a scum bum if you find them." He drops the mic and ends the transmission. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The room is quiet. "So..." "Hmmm." Out comes Adventurer1. "She's dead! My girlfriend's dead! Thank god we were just fictional lovers and not mafia 'lovers,' cuz that with that role, I would end up dying with her. Thank god we're not mafia lovers." The room waits. And waits. 17. And so it begins. Letters are sent out around the land to giddy Eurobricks members. Stickfig opens his mail. "Wow! A cosplay party! How'd they know I liked to dress up as Cyclops? He is the most misunderstood of the X-Men, carrying the burden of responsibility of leadership that no other does, while at the same time, suffering the guilt of losing his girlfriend to an elemental being, losing his first wife, who was a demonic clone of that girlfriend, and when finally getting to marry the girl, she dies too!" he ruminates in a long Claremontian schpiel. "Nobody understands me." Far, far across town, a young fellow with questionable acting chops named Adventurer1 opens his mailbox and perks up. "Honey! Put the buns in! We's is goin' to a cosplay party! Woooee!" Meanwhile, an old man finds his place in the world. "Whao, might I, Mencot the old, find a place in this world? Perhaps at a cosplay party?" he contemplates to himself in his small bachelor apartment. "Lo, I have no costume, these garbs will have to suffice." In a poorly MOC'ed representation of the New Mexico desert, Lind Whisperer opens her invite. "Lind Whisperer go party, make friend. Lind Whisperer so lonely." Long story short, everyone got an invite and showed up at an old theatre at roughly the same time. Inside, the crowd starts to get to know each other. "Yeah, Scaevola and I have been doing cosplay together for years. It's kind of sexy, you know?" Lord Duvors looks them up and down. "You know they're brother and sister though, right?" Scaevola looks a little embarrassed. "But not in the first movie. They kiss. They kiss in the second movie too." "Yeah, but they were still related. It's not like the first movie was in a different continuity." "..." Luckily the awkward silence is broken by the Lazy Chicken. "Why so serious?! Ha ha ha!" No, that's not going to get old. XM explains himself to Kintober. "Obi-Wan is the epitome of Jedi values. He is honourable, brave, and British." Kintober is diplomatic. "Yes, he's nice and all, but why would you choose to be a prequel version?" "Why so serious?! Ha ha ha!" Oh jeez. Stinky Dave is putting on the moves. "So, you know the Ghostbusters were all men, right?" Brickolodean has heard it before. "You know the Ghostbusters are fictional characters, right? That characters are limited by the imaginations of creators, and not stuck in some uptight concept of canon, right? That the number of male characters in fandom massively outnumbers the number of women, forcing women to take action in order to participate, right?" "Um..." "Why so serious?! Ha ha ha!" Oh.... Finally, a real debate has broken out. Jluck states with alarming confidence, "Obviously the comic Batman is superior, it's the source material." Captain Settle isn't having it. "The movies have a viewership that dwarfs the comics, obviously that is the form that resonates most with people." Goliath comes along to settle things. "Fellows, if I may. First of all, popularity is not and never has been a quantifier of quality. Absolutely horrendous things 'resonate' with the public. The comic Batman is far superior to the film Batman, and not only because it's capable of multiple tones at once, while the movies have one tone they must stick to. The main reason is the movies insistence on being 'serious' when it's in essence, a totally ridiculous character: a child's idea of what a badass adult is like. The character is simply wish fulfilment: no parents, filthy rich, super handsome, always succeeds, he's a Mary Sue!... If you can't have a little tongue in cheek humour with that, you're possibly emotionally stunted. Objectively, Spider-Man is the superior character. While Batman tortures himself over an event he could never have prevented (and is incapable of having healthy relationships on top of that), Spider-Man has a true reason to fight as he does, has powers, which makes him winning every time less ridiculous, and to top it off, he has functioning relationships. He's not a 'playboy billionaire.' Anyone who thinks Batman is a better character..." Foot steps approach, and the trio brace themselves for an unwanted statement. "I'm Arctic Batman." So, the movie is about to start, and the motley crew settles down. Pyrovisionary grumbles, "Figures Marge Simpson would sit up front." The lights dim, and a handsome figure fills the screen. "Forgive me if I monologue here, I am short for time. I have another engagement to make. This is my grand scheme, You may call me... DR. DEF. I have brought you here to play a little game. A number of you work for me. One by one, they will be taking you out... for good! I am a sporting man, and will give you a chance to live. If you kill them before they kill you, you may live. May..." He pauses. "You may begin. Voting opens in 24 hours. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We're playing. It's started. To begin with, some opening day strategies. 1. Should you lynch the person who votes first? No. That person is being pro-active and trying to get the game going. You are about 90% likely to lynch a townie day one, and it can't be helped. But, this can lead to good points in future days. Consider who voted for who, who switched votes, etc. etc. It will show someone to be town or scum. <Scum, consider voting for a teammate on day one or two. If that person is killed, you'll look good, and if you're killed, that person will look good. Ruin the voting record for town> 2. How do decide your vote day one? Vibes. Who's just being nonsensical all day? Who seems like, if they ended up town and not scum, wouldn't make a big difference? Of course, you want scum, but if you don't, err on the side of safety. <Scum, as long as it isn't you, you're good. BUT, don't go defending townies strongly so that you look good when they come up town. That will backfire. Only scum knows who town is.> 3. How much role-playing is too much? Role-playing should be considered the dressing on the salad, not the salad. So it's fine to do, but it isn't the point of the game. Herica is basically role-playing, and, to be honest, very little strategy (I'll use my strongest weapon against the bad guy, etc). Mafia is you outwitting other humans. It's something you get better at. What are people doing? Why? That's the point. Then role-play on top of that. 4. Anything else for day one? Consider day one you placing the sticks down for a fire, night one will be lighting the fire, and things will take shape from there. Send PMs to people you suspect and say you seem to trust them. Send PMs to people you think are townish, and don't tell much. DON'T BLAB YOUR ROLE DAY ONE. Don't blab. Have fun. Roles will go out tomorrow. In the meantime, why not start playing? Put your avatar on. Get in character. Your character is not the character of your avatar, but a person dressed as that character. I will go over some fundamentals in the course of the game, but you can get a good idea of some here: http://www.eurobrick...3 In advance, I want to apologise if this ends up seeming like a budget game. I won't have a fantastic MOC or anything. I'll manage a fun game, but the main goal is to get some new players, and make sure they have the fundamentals. Basically, this is something I threw together in a very, very short span of time. Since the rules of a game like this are so simple, the LEGO stuff takes up way more time than the actual planning of it... And to be honest, I haven't sorted out my mini-figs from the last time I hosted a game a year ago. It's such a pain to find out what goes where. Regardless, the essence of mafia is play, not LEGO. For now, this is the best time to role-play. None of you have your allegiances, so you can honestly interact and 'be yourself' without arousing suspicion. Get a handle on being 'in character.' Role PMs should be out tomorrow night. It's near midnight here, and I work from 9 to 9 tomorrow, so I should be able to get them typed and sent before bed tomorrow night. Daddy's gotta put food on the table.
  19. Excalibur TNG: Mafia School Conclusion: All Good Things... The remaining students had decided to vote out Warren Thompson / Lego3364. "I'm innocent." he said simply. But as a guard went to put the cuffs on him, he whipped out his phaser! "Aha!" he said. "Reach for the skies!" But a shot rang out... Willie Spencer / Tohst, the Loyalist Vigilante, has killed Warren, the last remaining Purist! "Where were you keeping that phaser?" Adam asks. "Don't worry about it." "Well done to both of you. I'm very proud that you've managed the root out the remaining Purist Scum." Bob says. "Can't you do something about the other Loyal students that have died?" Willie asks. "What makes you think I can do anything?" "You've been the host for games as far back as the Prohibition Era to now the Space Age. I think you've got some magical powers." And so all the loyal students are resurrected thanks to the power of love! Also the fact that they're easily re-assembled helps. ~~~ Congratulations to the two survivors of Excalibur TNG: Mafia School! Tohst and jluckhaupt! Firstly, I'd most likely remove the town vigilante and replace that role with the Doctor/Protector role instead. Three people dying every day in hindsight was much to much, and while I did include a blocker on both sides, it did little to prevent the carnage that ensued. Secondly, I'd change the way I handled voting. I'd still make voting mandatory, because doing that ensures that not only does everyone actively participate in voting, but it's also an easy way for me to check that a player has posted at least once. However, what I would change is the way the lynch was decided. I did the "most votes" method, which hasn't happened as much recently. In hindsight, I should have gone with a majority rules. That also would have lessened the losses. Those were the only two things that really bothered me once I had set the rules. I realized I made these "mistakes" sometime around Day Two, but by then it was much too late. Anyone may post here! Please leave comments, criticisms, praise, heated remarks, walls of text, or tomatoes below! Grades and player evaluations will be up shortly! You may also post your role PM here!
  20. Excalibur TNG: Mafia School Day Four: Power Play Timothy Daniels / Calanon was sitting on the floor of the lounge, extremely drunk and depressed. "What? I had to vote off my closest friend yesterday, and in addition, most of my other friends are dead." Yeah, that would get me too. "Well, I came here to kill you, but this is just sad." "I know. What is this, a Mafia or a Mystery? Just kill me and get it over with." "Just poison me with that mysterious chemical that's been sitting on that table since the Confirmation Thread." Timothy said. So the mysterious figure poured the chemical into Timothy's drink. "Cheers, friend." And Timothy drank the booze mixed with chemicals. And he died. Jeff Yates / getdamonkey came into the room to find Timothy lying dead on the ground. "Oh wow. He's dead. Poor guy. Wait, I'm being shown. I know what that means." "It means you're going to die, I'm afraid." And that was the end of Jeff. "Once again you voted off the right person, but you managed to mess it up at night. Jordan Foster / Comrade Commander was a member of the League of Purists. However, both Timothy Daniels / Calanon and Jeff Yates / getdamonkey were Loyalists. 21. Excalibur TNG: Mafia School Day Three: Measure of a Man Fred Rhodes / Adventurer1 was working late in the Engineering Classroom trying to figure out a component for an upcoming class. "Look how dirty this place is, the least the host could do is clean it up before taking pictures." Shut up. I told you not to critique the pictures. "You're writing this. You're doing it to yourself." Fred pauses for a moment. "Wait a second." he says. "Does this mean I'm going to die?" "Yes." the figure says. He presses a button to electrocute Fred, but he finds himself unsuccessful. "Hah. I've looked at the original Excalibur when Shadows was electrocuted. This time, I'm wearing safety equipment." "Maybe so, but this there's no safety equipment for this." The figure pulls out a phaser. "Well, I suppose you're right about that, but science is-" But the figure is done listening, and he blasts Fred into a million pieces. "Damn this place needs a scrub." Shut up!! Meanwhile, Emma Lane / vampyre78 is just standing in the lounge for some reason. "It's really convenient that the people that are going to be killed by night actions are always out and about at night, you know?" she says. "Yes, it's really convenient." says the figure who has suddenly appeared. "Hey, wait, what's that over there?" she asks the figure. "Huh? What?" But Emma has fooled the figure, and she runs off. "Wait, Emma! Come back! I have to kill you!" the figure yells. But Emma has run off to the holodeck, where she hopes to hide in an already running program. "What the hell? Islanders? Who the heck is running this program?" She's so lost in her confusion that she doesn't notice that her killer has followed her in, and stands behind her, ready to push. "There's nothing wrong with Islanders. It was a pretty cool theme." "I don't think it was...oh crap." The figure pushes Emma Lane / vampyre78, who probably hits a rock or something. Either way, she's dead. She's definitely going to drown. How graphic do you want this game to be anyway? Creeps. "Wow. They should really install some safety protocols in this place. It's dangerous." "Well, I'll say I'm partially impressed. Greg Kennedy was a member of the League of Purists, so good job on that. However, both Fred Rhodes and Emma Lane were Loyalists, so that's bad. 22. Excalibur TNG: Mafia School Day Two: Where Silence Has Lease Isaac Osborne / TheLazyChicken was walking around outside, breaking the rules. He enjoyed walking in the Academy Gardens because they cleared his mind. "Hello." a mysterious figure said. "Oh please." Isaac said. "I know what happens when you encounter a night action figure in a Mafia Game. You're even holding a comically large phaser behind you." "I mean look at that thing, it's huge. You'd think the guns would get smaller in the future!" Isaac continued. "You're not even going to beg for your life or tell me I'm wrong or anything?" the figure asked. "Wait, I can do that?" But it was too late, the figure had already fired his weapon on the maximum setting. Isaac Osborne / TheLazyChicken was blown apart by the force of the blast. He was no more. Elsewhere, Emily Goodwin / Dragonfire was pacing the lecture hall looking at the datapad the League of Purists had left behind. "Aha!" she exclaimed. "I knew if I looked at this long enough I'd find an answer. I can't wait to tell everyone." Suddenly, a different figure ran into the room. "Emily! You've got to hold onto this briefcase for me!" it said. "What's in it?" "It's extremely important. The Fleet Admiral himself asked me to guard it, but I've really got to use the bathroom and I don't want to get it dirty." "Oh boy!" she said. "I'll be right back. Say, why don't you let me look at this datapad while I'm gone." "Okay!" "I wonder what's inside." KABOOM! And that was all that was left of Emily Goodwin / Dragonfire. As the students entered the Lounge, they found a surprise. A treestump had appeared where the body of the deceased Admiral was. "Students!" she said. "I have important information about my killers!" Suddenly, the lights turned off! "Oh no, not again!" she said. A phaser blast was clearly heard, before someone scrambled and turned the lights back on. The Treestump of Admiral Nacheyav was no more. "You're all doing a really bad job." Bob said. "Melinda Fox, Isaac Osborne, and Emily Goodwin were all Loyalists! You must vote every day. 3) A game day will last 72 hours. You may not vote within the first 24 hours of the day. Do not attempt to use the structure of your role PM to your advantage. 6) You are encouraged to role-play in this game. I've provided a bare-bones role for you to flesh out if you wish. With that being said, please do not post out of character in the game thread. You may PM other players, but do so at your own risk. 7) If you die, you may not post in thread or discuss the game with any players, living or dead. Any information you had is null and void and is not allowed to be passed on. 8) Don't edit your posts. 9) You must post in every day thread. 10) Try to be nice to your fellow players. I won't accept overt bullying. 11) Violation of your first rule will result in a 4-vote penalty, your second violation will result in your death. Since this is a Mafia School, I will try to be lenient, but the best lesson can also sometimes be the harshest. 12) If any player asks you to break these rules, report them to me immediately with proof of their violation. A lesson will be up shortly. Important Reminder: Dead Mafia Players Tell No Tales! If you're dead, don't post here!
  23. Excalibur TNG: Mafia School Day One: Coming of Age The Luna Lounge was packed full of students. Some were studying and some were just relaxing after a rough day of classes. The Science Students were sitting at their table discussing the latest lecture. "My bicorder says that this crystal here is definitely made of Corbomite!" says Willie Spencer. "Try combining it with this tri-oxide compound!" Emma says excited. The Medical Students were discussing a patient that they were assisting while the Command Students talked strategy for the infamous Mobayashi Karu test. Admiral Nacheyav had just ordered a cup of coffee. While she was not a fan of the replicated coffee, she liked visiting the students and showing a presence amongst them. It was not a smart idea. The lights had gone out all of a sudden! There were some screams, the sounds of shuffling feet, and the sound of a cup hitting the floor before the lights went back on. The Admiral was dead. A datapad was carefully placed beside her. Security was called, lead by former Excalibur Security Chief George Harper, who had been promoted to Lieutenant Commander after the incident. "It says here that the League of Purists are responsible for the kill, and that they're back to try and destabilize the Navy!" Everyone gasped, but some people were faking it. "Alright everyone, we're going to scan for fingerprints, look for the weapon that killed the Admiral, and lock you all away until the culprits have been identified." "Not so fast!" a voice called out. "Oh, Fleet Admiral Bob, sir. I didn't expect you to get here so fast." Harper said, disappointed. The Fleet Admiral stepped onto the deceased Admiral, using her body as a platform. "We're going to have a Mafia Game." he declared. "But I've never played mafia before." someone said. "Don't worry, students. I'll teach you how to play. In the meantime though, nobody is permitted to leave this room until the end of the day. At night, you'll be escorted back to your quarters where you'll be restricted to them. Understood?" The students all nodded and went off to discuss the situation amongst themselves. "Shall I call a crew to remove the Admiral's body, sir?" "No. Leave the body here as a reminder." "Very well, sir." ~~~ Players: Command School: Issac Osborne - Played By: TheLazyChicken Emily Goodwin - Played By: Dragonfire Warren Thompson - Played By: lego3364 Medical School: Adam Powers - Played By: jluckhaupt Greg Kennedy - Played By: Lego Spy Sciences School: Willie Spencer - Played By: Tohst Melinda Fox - Played By: Xenophobic Monoxide Emma Lane - Played By: vampyre78 Engineering School: Fred Rhodes - Played By: Adventurer1 Jeff Yates - Played By: Getdamonkey Security School: Timothy Daniels - Played By: Calanon Jordan Foster - Played By: Comrade Commander Reserves: 1) nstickney Rules: 1) Every player has received their own character. 24. Excalibur: The New Generation Mafia School Story After the disaster on the United Earth Navy (U.E.N.) flagship Excalibur, in which fanatics from the League of Purists killed the Captain of the vessel and began systematically murdering the crew of the ship, interest in space exploration was stymied. The United Earth ceased recruitment into its navy by shutting down the United Earth Naval Academy, but, after a few years, recruitment has been opened up again, and new recruits are attending the Academy once again. However, the League of Purists, with dwindling numbers and support, has launched a last ditch effort to sabotage Earth's journey into the stars, by sending its own recruits to the Academy. This is where our story begins. ~~~ Hello, and welcome to Excalibur: The New Generation Mafia School! You might be asking yourself some questions right now, but I'd like to add to that and ask some questions as well! 1) Have you ever been in a Mafia School or Mafia game before? 2) If yes, please state why you'd like to sign up for another Mafia School. If no, please type "not applicable" 3) Will you be available for the entire duration of this game? 4) Do you promise to not critique or insult my photography? 5) If we were in the future, what position would you like to serve on a starship? Why? Some Brief Notes: - I'm looking for 16 players, and a few reservists as well just in case. - I will be giving preferential treatment to newcomers. If you've been in a Mafia School before and passed, please give someone else a chance. You may still sign up, but you probably won't be picked unless there's space. - If you have any questions at all, please send me a message at any time. I'd be happy to help you. - Make sure you really can devote all your attention to this game before signing up! Sign ups will close in one week or so!
