  1. Yes... Another DeLorean Timemachine moc. I missed out on the official set, which I didn't like that much at the time. But when it sold out the regrets where on its way... So I built one for myself, two years ago, because BTTF is my favorite movie trilogy. The car is 7-studs wide, which makes it perfect in minifig-scale. Instead of choosing one version from my favorite movie from the trilogy I just took all of the different version and mixed it all up to create a definitive one. Recently I got the time to finally take some pics. So here it is...
  2. ZOINKS! Shaggy turns out to be one hell of a hotrodder, turning his Dodge A-100 van into a pro-street pavement-pounder. Inspired by the full-size-engined/half-sized-bodied Zingers, the famous customs of the early 70's showcar-scene. The engine is a 2:1 scale full blown V6 race-engine. It's got dragslicks in the back, a wheelie-bar, and a drag-shute. To really appreciate this car it's best to compare it with the standard boring original cartoon version.

    Bananaman Movie in 2015

So yeah, apparently DC Thomson and Elstree Studios are making a Bananaman movie. Its due out in 2015, but a teaser poster was released recently: There's also a small teaser site, but there's nothing really on there except for the hashtag #PeelThePower. If you've never heard of it before, the intro from the 80's TV show should get you up to speed on him: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hq2KXudEjkI So, what do you think of this fruity new hero?

    HUGO CABRET

HUGO CABRET Hugo Cabret by Cristiano Grassi, su Flickr This i my small tribute to a great movie, Hugo Cabret, by Martin Scorsese. The movie is based on Brian Selznick's graphic novel "The Invention Of Hugo Cabret". Hugo Cabret by Cristiano Grassi, su Flickr It’s about a boy who lives alone in the Gare Montparnasse railway station in Paris in the 1930s. His died father has left behind notebooks, including his plants to finish an automaton found in a museum. Hugo seems somewhat a genius with gears, screws, springs and levers, and the mechanical man is himself a steampunk masterwork of shining steel and brass. Hugo Cabret by Cristiano Grassi, su Flickr During the story Hugo meets many people including a girl named Isabelle with which he will share his secrets, and her uncle Georges. This old man is none other then the immortal french film pioneer Georges Melies, who was also the original inventor of the automaton. Hugo Cabret by Cristiano Grassi, su Flickr This is also a tribute to the great cinema and its first pioneers. It will be a nice idea include a tile with a graphic that represent Georges Melies most famous short film "A Trip To The Moon" (1902) with the ship that pokes the man in the moon in the eye. Hugo Cabret by Cristiano Grassi, su Flickr If you have never watched this movie I strongly suggest to take the time and watch it. It doesn’t represent only the story of a boy, but mostly it is an analogy about the sense of life, putting the emphasis on how much each person contribution is important in the world. Hugo during the movies states: “I like to think that the world is a whole big unique equipment. You know equipment are made with the exact number pieces they need, consequently I come to the conclusion that if the world is a unique equipment, I personally have a reason to be here and the same is for you!” Hugo Cabret by Cristiano Grassi, su Flickr In reference to my creation, I have tried to incorporate as many details and references to the movie as possible. You can find Hugo Cabret, Isabelle, Georges Melies with his camera, the automaton, the mechanic mouse, many mechanisms, the clock, the heart shape keys. All the mechanisms on the left work as the same as the one in the central column, some with a continuous movement other with an alternate movement in order to simulate the goes by of the time. Hugo Cabret by Cristiano Grassi, su Flickr Because I am not an expert of LEGO Technic I was not able to make the mechanisms of the clock to work, so they are there only for a visual purpose. In the event that this project would be made I am sure that LEGO designers would find a way to make it work. I am here to ask to vote for my idea, a new project based on a wonderful movie with a deep message and please forgive my skills about making mechanisms work! Hugo Cabret by Cristiano Grassi, su Flickr This project could become an official LEGO set if it gathers 10000 votes. Voting is easy, free and without any obligation, You just have to click on the blue button "Support" (to vote) and "Follow" (to be updated). 6. [pid][/pid] Hello! Today I bring you my review of the Lego Movie set; Metalbeard's Sea Cow! Theme: The Lego Movie Set Name: Metalbeard's Sea Cow Set Number: 70810 Pieces: 2741 Year: 2014 Minifigures: 4 Minifigures + Mini Metalbeard and Queasy Kitty (Emmet, Wildstyle, Benny and Vitruvius) Ages: 14+ Price: Expensive ($299 Here in Canada, plus tax) About $250 USD I know this set has had a lot of negative criticism, especially from the true pirates fans, but keep in mind that it is not a pirates theme set, and therefore is not as realistic as one would probably like, but it is, after all, supposed to look unrealistic to give it that Lego Movie look. (The movie has many unrealistic builds but fun none the less!) One point I would like everyone to know, because I find it very cool, is that this is the most heavily armed boat…errrr I mean ship in Lego's History! She has 6 Firing Cannons, plus more than 14 other cannons that do not fire (Made to look like cannons) First we will start with the box, and it is huge! The box is also very heavy, but made of the usual material, so I have already seen some boxes with the seals being broken because of the weight of the ship! The side of the box also features all the mini figures included with their names. The Inner bags are many in number, you get a total of 17 normal bags. You get one #1 bag, two #2 bags, two #3 bags, one #4 bag, two #5 bags, three #6 bags, three #7 bags, two #8 bags, and one #9 bag. Additionally you get a bag with other parts for the ship including the massive fans. You also get the hull pieces, but the ship seems like it would be rather stubby, with only one bottom hull piece. Then you also get a bag with the instruction book (It really is the size of a book!) and the sticker sheet. The instruction book is very heavy, and there is only one! You would expect at least three for a set this size, but Its actually really cool! The only downside is that you cannot team up with a friend and each build from a separate instruction manual…..or novel in this case The sticker sheet has a few cool stickers, and one really cool pirate with a parrot picture! I would love to have more than one of this sticker for some custom building projects! The instructions have a page and a half showing what each bag builds. The instructions have a very eye friendly feel to them, the only problem I have encountered so far is that the Lego Bricks shown are a different shade of colour in the manual than the real ones. It is a little annoying at first, but you get used to it. The first bag contains some mini figures, including Emmet, Wild-style, Kitty and Mini Metalbeard. (I say mini because it is a much smaller version of the one in the movie and the other set that he is included in.) Bag one is my favourite bag so far! The mini Metal-beard is actually very cool. It uses the Legends of Chima ball joints in a very cool way! The emmet minifig is cool, but nothing too special (Movie reference ) Wild-style has a cool rubber hood piece and Kitty looks… not so good. I wish they had included a happy side for her face, but they want you to get every set to collect them all. You also get a sizeable amount of extra pieces just in the first bag! A total of 17! I can't imagine how many will be left after the final build! Now we shall move on the bag number two! The instructions outline the contents of the second bag, and we get the Double Decker Couch! As well as Vitruvius and Benny! We get the entire sets mini figures/Characters in the first two bags. I am surprised lego did not split them up. In this bag we also get two different villain bots (Micro Managers) from The Lego Movie. If you notice, they bear a strange resemblance to the ones in the Matrix Movie! Bag 2 is a bag number that has two bags. The first one large, the second one smaller, each with two mini bags inside. The contents of bag(s) two are awesome! And for those of you wondering if Benny's Helmet is actually broken… Its not. It is a special mold for Benny! Did you really think TLG would go around snapping space helmets!? The Second Bag comes with the Micro Managers and the Double Decker Couch! You also get Benny (Classic 1980's Spaceman!) and Vitruvius. This set comes with a very good mix of mini figures, and you get the very cool Mini Metalbeard! The Double Decker couch is also very cool, but unfortunately you cannot get any figs included in this set to sit properly on the couch. This is because they all have some sort of back accessory. You also get the two micro managers, one mini that shoots a net, and a larger one with flick fire missiles! The net can be shot by stuffing it into the "mouth" of the Micro Manager and pushing the fire flicker on the back. The larger Manager has a unfold-able radar scanner dish, used to detect master builders! It also has some cool flick fire missiles. Another cool feature is that the sides open to reveal some extra flick fire missiles! Lastly for this bag, you also get a good amount of extra pieces! Now we will move on to the ship! The ship build starts with the #3 bags, the hull pieces and the extra bag of ship parts. The bags from #3 are packed with goodies, and the Cannons! You get a total of 6 shooting cannons!!! As I mentioned before, this is the most heavily armed ship in Lego history! As you can see its a very exciting bag! It contains the ships main armament and the foundation for everything above! The bags are getting more and more focused on one particular item, now that the figs and accessories are out of the way. The next few bags contain different parts of the ships that attach to form the final product. I really like the way that everything comes together. Lets get on to bag #4! There is only one bag with the number four title, but it is packed with all you need to start building the walls of the ship and starting the long path to the sky! As you can see, the ship is looking good so far, the sides look very nice, and have more than enough armament to take on those Micro Managers! Next we will get to bag #5! Bag number five refines the current look of the ship by adding to the front and rear, and patching up any holes in the ship. As you can see, the ship is starting to look like a real ship! The sides are now very sturdy and have been completely locked up. Now it is time for bag number 6. You will notice that the number 6 bags really start to add to the fun by containing the store room and boiler controls! In these bags you get some very fun and cool looking water faucets that add to the rustic boiler look! The interior of the Boiler/Storage room contain some muskets, swords and some flintlock pistols. It also features the controls for the boiler. The sides also open up for a look inside, and also for limited playability. You also get a nice tiny chandelier than swings with the ships movements. It can be seen through the entrance to the room. The set also makes use of a few bizarre pieces such as the Indiana Jones whips, some Legends of Chima pieces and some Lego Friends pieces such as the golden faucets. So far we have gotten a lot of cool stuff, but we still have many more bags to go! This is everything so far… Ok, lets get onto the other bags! We are now on Bag number 7! Well…. three bags actually! You get some very unique parts, some technic sails and a good old fashioned door! You also get a Pirates of the Caribbean globe piece, also used as Sandy's Helmet in Spongebob Lego sets. (Clear Version) Some other cool accessories include a Golden Mini-figure Head, and some keys. How long has it been since you opened a set with some Flintlock Pistols! I really like the building techniques that have been used so far. I love the way the ships siding is placed on. Every sideboard is unique, and has a different Pirate feel to it! One of the coolest building sidings I have seen so far is found in Bag(s) number seven! This siding is a prime example! As you can see, the side board is missing, once it is built, it is nicely placed into it to fit very snug. Now both combined give a good look to the ships siding! The Final Bag 7 Build makes the ship look nearly complete. It gives the ship the appropriate height, and refines the rear of the ship. This bag also has some very interesting pieces for those of you you considering this as a parts pack. The Rear of the ship after bag number 7! It is very tall! Metal Beards Throne is large enough to fit him nicely standing or sitting. However, any other mini figure in the set looks ridiculous. Now onto Bag 8! Bag 8 builds the front of the ship, the foreword mast with the figurehead. While building, I could not resist laughing when I got to this build I don't know how you can't laugh at it! What was TLG thinking?! We are now on the last bag! Bag number 9! Bag number 8 was funny and contained a lot of useful pieces, such as the cow… and the "boiler" (More like… ) This bag builds the final middle top section for the ship. But I just noticed now that it also looks just as questionable as the "boiler"... I was surprised at the amount of detail included under the top middle section. The floor boards are filled with coins, treasure, a scull and even a rat! We are now done! The ship is done! It is funny build! Here are all the extra pieces included in the set! Here she is; METAL-BEARD'S SEA COW! Here is the Sea Cow beside two smaller Lego Ships! And as requested, here is the Sea Cow beside the Black Seas Barracuda! As you can see, the Sea Cow holds up, even surpasses some of the biggest pirate ships! Overall I give this set a great Rating! I love the details included through the set, and how they managed to do a great job using technic sails! The only downside is that the playability factor aboard the ship is lower because of the lack of space on the deck. But if you can't have fun with this set in hand, I don't believe you. It is a very cool set that I think compliments the Pirates theme! I would defiantly recommend it and I hope my review has brought some light onto this set, and all her might! DO NOT HESITATE TO ASK FOR MORE PHOTOS OR QUESTIONS ;)

    Books VS Movies

Just thought it would be interesting to find out which is generally thought to be better. books / movies [Edit] removed the long book/movie list because it made the discussion a bit closed [Edit] Columbus P.S-MODS, Please make this a POLL for Books vs Movies, thanks.
  9. This is my rendition of The Bluesmobile. A moc I made two years ago. I finally got the right parts to make not only one, but two Bluesbrothers. The car, an 'ex cop-car' 1974 Dodge Monaco is 7 studs wide which I find perfect for minifig/town/modular scale. Big enough to put in some detail, but small enough to still fit the streets of Legocity. It's got opening doors, hood, and trunk to show off a full interior, engine bay, and trunk. 'It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?'
  10. I've added new foto's of my Ghostbusters headquarters addition! (11-3-2014) I've made some alterations to the hearse. Mostly on the tailfin area. The red from the fins isn't touching the rearlights anymore. Also the equipment on the roof is slightly different. It sort of 'belongs' ther now as opposed to be just an 'add-on' like before. I've also made it structurally better. (see post #2)
  11. Hey y'all. I am sorry for being away from EB for this long. not posting MOCs up and all. I've been busy with other things besides LDD building. But for now, I am back with a new MOC. This time, it is my interpretation of the TARDIS interior from the Doctor Who 1996 TV film. More photos can be found on my Flick page (Flickshot30). Keep in mind, this is not 100% accurate to the prop or set seen in the movie, but as close as I could build. The TARDIS console part of the model is based on designs created by mpathg7380 and daleksec from LEGO Ideas. There is also a telescope within this model, which is based on one built by TD Bricks on Youtube. Comments/suggestions welcome. Hope you enjoy. LXF file: http://bricksafe.com...yman30/tardises

    Your favourite movie?

Thought I'd start a "fun" topic. What is your favourite film(s)? My personal favourite is the 1968 Planet of the Apes - classic film, have seen it close to 6 times now. Love the story, the twist, the Charlton Heston-ing. Bravo to my favourite character of all time... DR. ZAIUS!

    [MOC] HAL 9000 -

One MOC a year....yes that could be improved I've finished my MOC for Skaerbaek, DK Fanweekend 2014 this year: HAL 9000 computer from the motion picture 2001 - A Space Odysse in real size 1:1. I've added the EV3 brick to bring up some speech samples from HAL 9000 as in the movie but it was far to loud at the exhibition. So all it does right now is having a red light...which...lights red. more pictures on my page at: http://gerkens.org/lego/lego/lego_hal9000.html Hope you like it...

  18. A full length trailer for the Ratchet & Clank movie was recently released: There will also be a game for the PS4 based on this movie (which is based on the original game). Any thoughts? I think it looks pretty good. It has the same silly humor as the games, the same voice actors in the lead roles (even though they are hardly credited ), the same look and everything. However, it's a shame that they seem to be rebooting the series, even though the story seems to be mostly the same. I guess the focus here is more on introducing a new generation to the series than to appeal to the old fans. I played most of the games and enjoyed them quite a bit, although I always preferred Jak & Daxter and am a little sad that that series died while R&C continues, but I'm glad we at least get more R&C, even if it's a reboot. I think my favorite game was Up Your Arsenal. I really wish Lego would have opted to make sets based on this videogame movie instead of Angry Birds. This would have produced some really cool sets, minifigs, and parts. Oh well. What do you think?

  21. As avowning long-time steam-punk and one of the founders of the austrian steampunk-community I instantly fell in love with Metalbeard's robo-pirate design. I already made loads of costumes before but this was my first attempt on working with EVA-foam (Ethylene-vinyl acetate). First of all I needed some patterns, so I made 3D-models using fotographs of the original LEGO-pieces as reference. After that I dissected the models into their single surfaces, unfolded them and arranged the on multiple pages for printing. Next I transferred the cut-out paper pattern onto the surface of my foam-sheets, sawed them out on an electric scroll saw and ground some of the 90 degrees edges to slopes with a disc grinder. Afterwards I thermo-formed some of the pieces with a heat gun and bent them into their final shape. After I had all the components I needed, I glued them together with a hot glue gun and finally painted the props with acrylic paint. To make the beard wearable I attached a leather-strap on its inside which would later be covered by the bicorne. Finally I made a matching eyepatch out of leather (also using some fotographs as reference). The picture was taken at the LEGO-Store Donauzentrum (Vienna/Austria). You can find more pictures of the single objects in my cosplay folder on my homepage.

    [MOC] Falcon - Movie Version

So, a lot of the Avengers character that were released were movie accurate. Fair enough since that movie has put enough capital into Marvel to keep them going for a few years. But when they started releasing the other characters, they were Cartoon accurate. Again fine, so I split my Avenger mini figs into two groups, Movie and Comic. This is a custom Movie Falcon. I used the Knock off Hawk Eye that you can buy on Ebay for about $3, then replaced his arms with black arms. Fitted a black 1x1 stud bib and a Travis block and then added a pair of Lego wings from the Chima line, finally finished with a Red translucent wedge for the rocket burn. https://scontent-b-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xap1/t31.0-8/1040422_10153286783167656_7833682590755516325_o.jpg
  23. I made a few minifigs in LDD of characters that I wish Lego would produce, although there is very little chance it would ever happen. Any guesses as to who they are (other than Wicket, of course)?

    MOC Batwing

Hi all, I've tried to recreate a Batwing that has a bit of the gothic, industrial heavy duty look & feel just like the iconic '89 Batmobile or the Batwing of the same movie. You'll find large missile launchers under the wings, a heavy turbine that catapults the aircraft forward, and when viewed from above or below it gives us that shape we're all familiar with... More on https://flic.kr/s/aHskhpzBR3 Enjoy :-)
