Location: D-10 The Hamilton Belt Tags: Land Vehicle, Exploration After exploring several of the asteroids in The Hamilton Belt, M.A.N.T.I.S. scientists found rich Awsomeonium deposits on Asteroid C7B11. I am heading up a mission to drill on C7B11 using a heavy ground drilling rig. We landed successfully on the asteroid, now it's time to have some drilling fun. - D

Location:E03 Tags: Land vehicles, military After his initial assault on Octan forces last week, Dan has been laying low on E03, hiding from both Octan forces and his MANTIS superiors, who claim he has "gone rouge" ( apparently trashing expensive Octan equipment on a random planet is not considered an acceptable use of MANTIS resources). Today Dan decided to go for a spin on his new speeder... Unfortunately he ran into an Octan patrol, and apparently they were still mad at him for destroying their mech last week... Tags: MANTIS Location: D10 Hamliton Belt Double D's Log 18: I'm headed for a huge MANTIS space HQ, Station 001. Large battleships can dock next to it, and some ships can even fit in the top dock where a new dome creates a breathable atmosphere. Looks impressive. Though since I've come to discuss MANTIS strategy, I hope the security in the place is as impressive as its size, or better. ---------------------------------- Had a fun time with GIMP this week!

It’s a bunch of hissing and grunting. It kind of sounds like a distress call. I have triangulated the coordinates. It’s on a nearby asteroid - Great! I’ll lead the away team. Chogg get my explorers hat! - Uhh sir……. It kind of … went missing…. - WHAT! MY TRUSTY EXPLORERS HAT IS GONE!Well send the sentry bots looking for it. Chogg has never seen one but has heard tales about their ferocity. The weapon is a web blaster. Tags: Piloting Location: D10 Hamilton's Belt So i'm out testing my newest fighter design in the Hamilton Belt when MHD-72, sorry Sergeant C.R.A.P. as he's become after he rebuilt himself and created a squad of pilots from a Kawashita scrap metal pile, radios me. Captain, you have received an encrypted audio message from the Council. Please return to you secure viewing room on board the flagship. *Sigh* Copy that Sergeant. Is it that urgent? Very funny, Captain. So i head back to the ship and find this message waiting. It's actually from the Council of Five, not the Andromedan Council Against Robot Pilots. They tell me they've appointed an Admiral to lead the fleet. Then, they mention the fact that he's not even a pilot. I'm to meet the "Admiral" Spacer Steve aboard his flagship soon. This calls for celebration. (Not) Weekly build! Thanks for looking!

Location: D10 Tags: Spaceship, Ground vehicle, mining Spacer Steve is his exploration fleet through the Hamilton Belt. He needs practice before his training begins. The Council of Five has assigned Pangolinus as his trainer as Spacer Steve has little piloting experience. The exploration fleet consists of three ships. The Sal class science vessel, the M.C.F. Firefly, and the M.C.F. Scythe exploration vessel. Chogg chart a course to the Jake Atter asteroid mining station. We need to resupply the station with goods and provide protection. There have been several Dust Demon sightings. Captain, Chogg thinks that is illogical. Chogg, I’d appreciate it if you don’t say that ever again…. Deploy Stinger Squad. Crew we are approaching Jake Atter Station Yee haw! Boy are we glad to see you! You must be Jake. Yup that’s me. The mining is going great. There be awesomnium on this rock. Them MAD drillers are gonna drill all the way through. We be see’n dust demons though. Them’s be mak’n us a wee bit nervous. We have some guns but not enough to be stopp’n them. Great news! Tags: Exploration, Science, Vehicle Location: D10 - The Hamilton Belt This week we're being led by the M.C.F. Scythe Exploration ship on a space expedition through The Hamilton Belt. My mission is to accompany a small Science crew to the surface of one large asteroid aboard the Pod Surface Explorer. Due to the unknown hazards I will be aboard the Pod to handle any mechanical issues that may occur to ensure that the mission is a success. We landed on the cluster without incident, but several hours in to the mission one of the landing supports was damaged by a small rock cluster that broke free. I suited up, tethered myself and repaired the damage. Hopefully these scientists get the drilling done soon, I'm ready to get back to the fleet and get some rest. - D

***Bridge of the MSS Marauder, somewhere in the Hamilton Belt*** Gosh this patrol mission is boring. I spy with my little eye, something black. Is it the vast, endless, black expanse of space? Yup. Could you get them to send up a bit more coffee? They're all out. This is going to be a long, long day. Not so fast, looks like we've got a bogey coming in on the radar. Looks like the Kawas have sent one of their interceptors over. The gunnery station's got him. He's going down. Poor bloke. So, still no more coffee?

Location: D10 - the Hamilton Belt Tags: Vehicle, Spaceship Our next stop appears to be The *Hamilton Belt* .....sounds like a real winner...."Computer, what are we here for anyway?" "Oooooh, A challenge!" [[Awesomnium]] appears in Gold on the display, along with a rotating purple rock... "Oh, boy....purple rocks...." "So, our mission, is to find some rocks with purple Awesome bits.....How hard can it be?" Just a bunch of junk here...let's adjust course for that Small rock.... Our craft today is the MANTIS GK-143 GFMS. The "GFMS" stands for "Gravity Free Mech Suit" as it does most of the functions of a normal Mech suit.....but with thrusters instead of legs.... And a mighty "sensor package" up front for sniffing out valuable rocks.... She's got a grappling arm on the port side.... And a light and gun arm on the starboard.... The Real Thrill is the 8-pack of Ghirhil V-77 Ion thrusters......"POWER!!!!!!!!!" ....And, Even though I have to wear a space suit to stay alive....the cockpit is suprisingly comfortable and refined, although the Display on the floor ahead of the foot pedals seems very Citroen-like, like it was designed by a french madman......... Overall, a Very satisfying ride....Very "Swooshable indeed......" Oh......., and we found a rock..... ....and on that note, back to the studio.....

Location: A08, Crentium Tags: Land Vehicle Double D's log 18: I've been testing a lot of speeders lately. This latest one, the MANTI-Ray® Speeder is the most fun to drive, and that's partly because it goes faster and hovers a bit higher than the others, making it better for navigating through rocks and doing bigger jumps! The MANTI-Ray® Speeder also has the ability to be remote-controlled, though there are still too many "quirks" to be effective in combat, let alone controlling more than one at the same time. Depending on the success of the MMT® line, the development team will either further its efforts to expand the remote-controlled technology to include hovering speeders or stick with non-hovering vehicles. ~ DD out ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Of the speeders that I have made, this one was the most fun to build, mostly because of the front shaping.

I definitely remember telling you to charge them! You don’t get to tell me to do anything! Ah, so you admit that I did tell you to do it! No, I’m just saying… Will you two please shut up. We're stuck here until they rescue us, so just be quiet. … … … … This is all your fault. Is not. Is too! Shut up! … … … … Well, this whole experiment was a waste of time anyway. We drilled for hours and didn’t find any awesomnium. Might have found some if someone had charged the batteries. Someone like you? When they find us, you two are both walking back. Location: E03 Tags: military, land vehicle This week Dan decided to head to E03, to further MANTIS domination there. While testing out his newest invention, a powerful combat mech he ran into some Octan forces, so he decided to see just how well the mech preformed in combat... The Octan mech, piloted by an Octan robot and armed with a chainsaw and a Kragle cannon. The MANTIS mech, armed with laser cannons and rocket launchers. Location: C10-Marden Tags: Land vehicle Spacer Steve and his team wait at a MANITS terminal for the next train to the nearest spaceport. Spacer Steve had just learned that he was being promoted by the Council of Five to become the First Supreme Admiral of the MANTIS battle fleet. - Agent L- Congrats on the promotion! Are you excited? Spacer Steve- Thanks. I'm a little nervous. We have dealt with Kawashita on a small scale up to this point. The calls I will make now will put thousands of MANTIS lives in danger or save them. At least Chogg seems to be care free. Chogg- Oh Boy! Chogg LOVES trains!!! - Agent L - Chogg are you foaming at the mouth!?! Chogg - Ever since Chogg was a tadpole chogg has loved trains. Chogg love trains more than food! - Spacer Steve - Well looks like the train is here. Chogg - Move over Mr. engineer. Chogg is driving today! ALL ABOARD! WOO WOOOOOO! Location: C10 Marden Tags: Land Vehicle, Military, Exploration Double D's log 17: It's another week on Marden, but this time I get to test out a new kind of remote-controlled weapons system. I get to drive a sweet tank around in the snow and blow up things (mostly snow). The tank is part of a new lineup that MANTIS is doing - MANTIS Mini Tanks (MMT). Apparently you can control many of these tanks at once. What's also neat is that there are cameras on each tank can be seen on the controller's screen. I can definitely see these being very useful should MANTIS need a bunch of heavy-duty inexpensive tanks that pack a punch! This tank in particular comes equipped with a snow plow just in case. I wonder what other accessories it can have... ~ DD out --------------------------------------------------------------------- I like how compact the tank is, and I'm really pleased with the treads marks.

Location: C10 - Marden Tags: Vehicle, Spaceship, Land Vehicle Finally, more work! We were picked up by the Oruvus and transported to the frozen world of Marden.... Our mission: search for evidence of Biomass near a formation called "The Icy Mountain..." Any samples we can collect are to be loaded onto a MANTIS PE-56 "Portable Elevator" that has landed nearby. Our new crewman (crewplant?) "Verdi" and I were to meet a "Captain Leeroy Jenkins" not far from our landing site... An RS-5 and a FC-2g Speeder were perfect for the environment...though Verdi's FC-2g had a slight engine problem... I couldn't wait to use my new "Icebreaker 4000" chainsaw... But, before I could get cutting, Captain Jenkins Yelled, "You don't need that...Looky here what I have!" It was a MANTIS Auto Blocker.....a device that can cut, extract and transport perfect blocks of pretty much any substance... Verdi and the Portable Elevator's crewman got busy loading up the PE return module. Captain Jenkins secured the cargo door and initiated the launch sequence... We headed back to our speeders as Capt. Jenkins secured the lander platform.... That's when I heard it...a voice yelling, "LEEROY JENKINS!!" It was an Octan Corp. Sniper! Before I could turn around, Jenkins was in his sights... I was too late....and in the confusion, the Sniper got away.... Then Verdi pointed out (in his [her?] vegtabley voice), "Hey, at least you got a new space suit.." Location: C10 Marden Tags: Military, Building After scouting the surface of Marden for rival corporation facilities we discovered that our intellegnece was correct. Kawashita had established several communication centers on the surface. M.A.N.T.I.S. was prepared for military operations to take Marden if necessary. A short range missile station was completed to carry out the operation and destroy the Kawa facilities. I was dispatched with my team to the station when there were complications and system malfunctions. My team worked diligently to get the systems up and running. Time to watch the fireworks. - D

As annoying as that old bastard might be he is still a good sparring partner when it comes to certain fields." "Have you prepared the beacons properly now you smug insectoid severed membrane of a....." "Yes it's prepared, I sure hope you know what you are doing..." "Just order the satellite to commence the operation and we'll be good to go!" "Yes I've entered the command in now we better move away..." "Initial waves doing impact now, calibrating frequences..." "A bit tricky not to melt the rocky surface to much, we have to secure the main body of water and prevent it from vaporize..." "That's it! It's pooling, it's seems to be working! Now for the critical part..." "Kinetic amplifiers online, spores at the target! Amplifying growth rate..." "Inserting angiosperms to the mix..." "And voila! A terraformed Eco-system to go! Malcom, we did it!"

Dan is currently traveling as a passenger aboard a MANTIS cargo frigate headed to A06. The ship is empty right now,and without cargo it just looks like a large metal frame. When the cargo is loaded it is put in large, vacuum proof containers which are then magnetically secured to the metal beams that make up the frame of the ship. Heres a close up shot of the command module and the secondary engines. I didn't have much time this week, so this is all that I managed to come up with. C and C are appreciated

Location: C10 Tags: Science And so it seems that only the purple beans are any use for laser enhancement – the red and green ones Starstriker's been bringing in all week are nowhere near as good. Unfortunately, we’ve only found two plants on the entire planet that produce the purple ones… …and someone destroyed one of them, so this is the only one we have. I see it still hasn’t grown any more beans. No sir. It may be an annual crop. That’s not good enough! Inject some awesomnium serum to speed things up. I’ll be back tomorrow. The next day: What…? Yeah, when we woke up this morning all these new bushes had grown. No sign of beans though sir. Well, it’s a start I guess. I’ll come back tomorrow. The next day: How…? The serum’s definitely accelerated the growth of more plant, but… No beans? No sir, sorry. There better be some tomorrow, or you will be sorry. The next day: What the…?! Thorne: "Some very special designs of my own, that will help me, erm, I mean MANTIS, rule the galaxy." Moose: "But this workshop is for the basic maintenance of basic maintenance and janitorial droids?” Thorne: "Indeed it is. In fact we are currently working on obsolete JanDroid100TM models." Thorne: "Good work Simon!" Moose: "I still don’t get it? Why old droids, and why is he spraying the droid white instead of black and lime?” Thorne: "It’s Octan white of course. Did you not hear about Jurin II? Octan are susceptible to explosive devices hidden inside cleaning apparatus! And since these jumps though Kawashita dominated regions are taking us closer to Octan’s area of operations we need to be ready!" Moose: "Erm…" Thorne: "And here is the finished product, looks like the latest JanDroid300TM, the vacuum even works. We send it into the local Octan resource extraction facility and then, BOOM!" Moose: "Erm…isn’t the dynamite strapped to the back a bit of a giveaway?" Thorne: "Chief Accountant Long wouldn’t approve funding for anything more sophisticated. She called the work ‘pointless’ but I’ll show her! Just wait ‘til she sees the JanDroid500 in action." Moose: "But they don’t make a model 500?" Thorne: "They will when they see my designs! Here, take a look at this holo-disc." Moose: "What the…?" Thorne: "I’ve doubled the size of the design to permit operations over more rugged terrain. On top are twin plasma cannons and it can carry equipment for our ground combat forces. To top it all off it can be controlled through the same neural interface as our aerospace combat drones." Moose: "You want me, to ‘pilot’ this?" Thorne: "Well, only if we don’t have time to train our drivers on the neural interface control system." Moose: "…okay…but…erm…why does it still have the vacuum attachment?" Thorne: "Ah…hmm…for clearing the battlefield of the remains of our enemies of course…?"

Location: E03 - Ertauq Tags: Vehicle, Land Vehicle, Exploration ...{{){})})(>......[begin log transmission]:: Day 5....After days of bland unchanging grey sand desert, finally came across something interesting....a mineral deposit of some sort.... SATCAM image from Ertauq: The metallic minerals seem to be aligned to the planet's magnetic field.....the resulting stress points allow eruptions of gas and liquid that deposit a crystalline mineral....nearly clear to blue in colour: There is also a curious life form...a semi-sentient plant of some sort....I will call them "frond friends" for now...as they are quite pleasant, and make good company... Overall, the YV-745 that M.A.N.T.I.S. provided has worked rather well....for a simple transport mission... Other than being a bit ugly, it was a fun ride.....I look forward to my next assignement.....
