  1. Coalition Baserunner (Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak) by Artemiy Karpinskiy, on Flickr Baserunner is a fictional support and recon vehicle from RTS videogame "Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak". Baserunners are the reliable workhorse vehicles that were used by Kiithid Coalition during the events of the game. Their main purpose was to set up defensive perimeter with deployable turrets, as well as install sensor arrays and lay minefields. Many Kiith have used modified Baserunners for specific purposes, such as this Science Team Baserunner used by Rachel S'Jet during the Kapisi Expedition: Rachel S'Jet's Baserunner (Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak) by Artemiy Karpinskiy, on Flickr
  2. Many artists during October take on the Inktober challenge, drawing in ink every day of October. This year I decided to do something similar, but with MOCs. I've already done a few mechas based off Ksenolog's sketches, but this time around I decided to dedicate a whole month to translating his amazing works into digital 3D lego. This thread is a full collection of my MOCtober entries. #01 Dailybot #699 Original Picture: #02 Dailybot #684 Original Picture: #03 Dailybot #672 Original Picture: #04 Dailybot #692 Original Picture: #05 Dailybot #654 Original Picture: #06 Dailybot #703 Original Picture: #07 Dailybot #601 Original Picture: #08 Dailybot #572 Original Picture: #09 Dailybot #557 Original Picture: #10 Dailybot #522 Original Picture: #11 Dailybot #544 Credit to my spouse for helping with the bg. 4. Here is a collection of Slizer/Throwbot MOCs that were originally designed by @Logan McOwen. His works inspired me to start my own little series of digital revamps, including both official Slizer sets and his original character designs. All of his creations, including the ones I picked, can be found in his Flickr Albums. Let's begin, shall we? (all images are clickable by the way and lead to my Flickr. The titles are links leading to Logan's MOC images) - - - Tremor Slizer - - - Construction Slizer - - - Chopper Slizer - - - Soldier Slizer - - - Cheetah Slizer - - - Doctor Slizer - - - Orbit Slizer - - - Patrol Slizer - - - Logger Slizer - - - Proselytiser Slizer - - - Comments and critiques are always welcome! - - - If you like what I do and you want to see me create your OC, a favorite Bionicle Character, or something else, feel free to look up my Commission Info! 7. I spend long periods away from home and my Lego bricks due to my work, so I end up doing a lot of design in computer with the likes of LDD, LDraw/bricksmith, and mecabricks. The problem is that none of these have any "physics" in them, I can't ever see how strong or stable the model is. So I end up spending hours agonising over the way the bricks are stacked, worrying over whether or not they will lock together solidly enough in real life. I also spend ages checking brick link and Lego bricks and pieces to make sure the pieces I use are available in the colours I choose, but that's another story. When I finally do treat myself and buy the bricks for one of my creations, they invariably fall apart. A couple of years back it was a 50 piece micro-scale particle detector that took 2 hours to get together and exploded at the slightest touch (and I do mean that literally, bits went flying all over the room!). My latest fiasco is a model of the Mercury-Redstone rocket, which I designed to go with the Lego Ideas Saturn V. It's just a stack of 2x2 round bricks with three axles inside due to it's height, yet despite my best efforts to put the axle transitions well inside bricks, the rocket easily falls apart into three neat chunks (one for each axle). So, what's the secret? When you design in computer do you care at all about how the model would behave in real life? And if you do care, do you have any tips on making sure that the model holds up well when physically built?
  8. On May 7, 1961, astronaut Alan Shepard became then first American in space. Flying the Mercury capsule "Freedom 7", he reached an altitude of 187.5km on his 15 minute sub-orbital flight. This particular model is in scale with the recent Lego Ideas 21309 Saturn V/Apollo rocket. I’ve taken the scale from the Apollo command module, assuming 1 stud = 1m. Sadly, at this small size (just 2 studs across), it isn't possible to recreate the United States logo down the side of the rocket, or the distinctive black-and-white stripes in the aft section. If anyone has advice on getting custom prints done, I'd certainly be interested. I was nearly going to use the traditional Lego rocket fin for the tail of the ship, but I decided to try and recreate the black and white patterning on the engine block using some robot arms: I'm a little concerned about my use of a 3.18mm bar in the technic axle holes to hold the base of the rocket together, as it's an unusual technique that (I think) may be damaging to the 2x2 round bricks and plates. That said, it has been used in a few Lego sets so I'm confident it is at least "legal". The model features a display stand, based on the actual launchpad of the Mercury-Redstone: The Mercury-Redstone comes with a separate Mercury capsule on its own display stand - this version includes a 1x1 round plate on the base to represent the retro-rocket pack. This was a small engine that fired to bring Freedom 7 down to Earth on a good trajectory, but unfortunately there isn't the space to include it on the rocket stack. The Mercury capsule was topped by a 4.8m red escape tower, which would propel the capsule up and away from an exploding booster. While never used on manned flights (fortunately), it saw incredibly frequent use during the early testing of rockets! A nanofigure astronaut is included for scale… and yes, Mercury really was that tiny!! This is a digital MOC and hasn't been tested in real life. An older version has appeared on mecabricks, but this one has been updated to use parts that actually exist. Comments and criticism are always appreciated!
  9. On February 20th 1960, U.S astronaut John Glenn became the first American to orbit the Earth. Piloiting the Mercury capsule “Friendship 7”, launched atop a newly up-rated Atlas rocket, he successfully made three orbits of the Earth. The mission suffered various glitches, including thruster issues and a possible loose heat shield (which could have been fatal), but was essentially a complete success and paved the way for future American space exploration. (Base image from Wikipedia) This particular model is in scale with the recent Lego Ideas 21309 Saturn V/Apollo rocket. I’ve taken the scale from the Apollo command module, assuming 1 stud = 1m. The Atlas rocket was a 1.5 stage rocket. Unlike the Saturn V, which dropped complete assemblies of fuel-tanks and engines, the Atlas rocket jettisoned it’s two outer engines on the way to orbit. This is possible on the model: The Mercury-Atlas comes with a separate Mercury capsule on its own display stand - this version includes a 1x1 round plate on the base to represent the retro-rocket pack. This was used to de-orbit and return Friendship 7 to Earth, but unfortunately there isn't the space to include it on the rocket stack. The Mercury capsule is topped by a 4.8m red escape tower, which would propel the capsule up and away from an exploding booster. While never used on manned flights (fortunately), it saw incredibly frequent use during the Atlas rocket's early testing! A nanofigure astronaut is included for scale… and yes, Mercury really was that tiny!! This is a digital MOC and hasn't been tested in real life. Comments and criticism is always appreciated - I would also welcome advice on how to build a suitable display stand. There’s no way the rocket can stand on its engines, and not many connection points left near the base!

    [MOC] Encounter on Dagobah

This is a set TLG has not made since 2002, and I feel it really needs to be remade. The false 2016 rumor, which turned out to be Yoda's CW Jedi Starfighter, was particularly disappointing. Here is my take on it. It could very well be a $25 set. You can remove the roof to see the interior. Plus the walls fold open! You can see Yoda's bed and his pot of food. Here's the view from the entrance :) C&C Welcome! Cheers! VaderFan2187

  13. Tanith Morgan - no relation to the infamous Captain Benjamin Morgan - is a curious soul. Supposedly rescued from men with most ungentleman-like intentions by Roland Blaze, she spent some time serving on the Crimson Marauder before Blaze found himself founding Haven and becoming it's de facto leader. As construction on more enduring buildings began Tanith had a very particular set of demands regarding her residence. Being the town's premier expert on medical matters - the town's only expert, unless one counts barber-surgeon Zebediah, and somehow few do - few were willing to risk her refusing to help them. And so Tanith Morgan got her tower. Or, at least, the tallest building in Haven currently. While the ground floor is furnished for comfort it often goes unused. Tanith Morgan has never encountered a field of study she did not immediately become obsessed with, at least for a time. Equally driven to record her findings, much of the building is taken up by her experiments and research libraries, be it chemistry... ...biology... ...or her current interest, astronomy. And being the asocial type that she is, Tanith uses the attic as her personal living space. Well away from the townsfolk, and their distracting requests.

    LDD to 3ds MAX

Hello, I was trying to import my LDD file to 3DS max, but everytime when I render the object I get this. Can someone help me to get this right? Greetings, Tom
  18. So I've got kind of an unusual question. I'm working on a computer generated film right now—it's really a personal project, but I intend to publish it and possibly sell copies if it does well, so I'm making sure to account and budget for all necessary licensing fees to ensure I don't unwittingly commit any copyright violations—and one scene calls for stuff that looks like it's made out of LEGO. I figure that from a technical standpoint, the easiest way to do this would be to actually build those props out of LEGO in the LEGO Digital Designer and then convert them into Maya objects. My question is, does anyone know if I would need to acquire licensing to use the LDD brick models, or rights for the likenesses of LEGO products, or anything like that from the LEGO Group® in order for this method to be legal?
  19. Arise from the deepest dream A haven in a haze The howls and the sickly screams they fade… Pale blood will guide your way Embrace the changes and be consumed Bleak bells that chime dismay Echo the cries of the paleblood moon! —Miracle of Sound, “Paleblood Moon” (source) [Render] Bloodborne - Hunter by Artemiy Karpinskiy, on Flickr The Hunter is a main protagonist/player character from an action RPG "Bloodborne" developed by FromSoft Gaming studio. I took inspiration from one of the basic Hunter outfits, using this image of an official Bloodborne statue as a reference. The weapon they wield is a so-called saw cleaver that, as all weapons in the game, can be transformed from a hacksaw-like weapon into a massive two-handed blade. * * *Now folks remember, if you like what I do and you want to see me create your OC, a favorite Bionicle Character, or something else, feel free to look up my Commission Info! 20. I tried to Upload the following model to my Bricklink Wanted List. I got an error message that briefly appeared on the screen before disappearing. The message read something to the effect, "the file could not be uploaded because one ore more parts are invalid or do not exist in the Bricklink library". My problem is Bricklink gives no indication what parts are good and which are "invalid", so I have no idea how to correct the file so I can upload it and order the parts. Does anyone know how I can find out which parts are "invalid" without having to upload each part individually? http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/legoboy3998/WSOR/trip.lxf Thanks in advance for any ideas or suggestions, Sal WFB WI
  21. This is a thread I will be using to document all of my Lego Digital Designer models, which are recreations of official Lego® sets. I know that there is already a thread for that, but this is specifically for me, because I plan on doing a large amount of models (talking 3 a week minimum), and I want to have my own way of broadcasting them for all to see. I have a large amount of instruction booklets from my time as a child, and I will be taking recommendations for sets that people want me to do. I hope to meet great people and be an active member of the Lego® community!

    LDD MOC: Boeing 717

Due to financial restrictions, I can't build real models as of yet, so LDD will have to do, I've made several things in the past but this is the first time I decided to showcase a model online Being an aviation fan, I decided to build an airliner using a combination of the big '<insert that tiresome argument>' parts for the cockpit and tail-cone and smaller parts for the wings and tailplane. It contains more details than you would get in a typical CITY set, it has obvious cockpit and passenger seating put it also contains separate first and economy (known as coach class in America), folding seat for a flight attendant, fully featured galley and a bathroom in the tail-cone (not pictured). Also not pictured is inverted roof pieces used to represent overhead compartments (although these make it difficult for minifigs to fit in comfortably) and clocks hanging from the ceiling in the aisle Constructive criticism is encouraged and accepted. 717.lxf
  23. Hello and God Bless I have started my first train MOC, in LEGO Digital Designer because I don't have the funds to build real LEGO trains. This is going to be an 8 wide long distance high speed train making use of the large airplane parts from Lego City Sets such as 7893: Passenger Plane, 7894: Airport and 7734: Cargo Plane. I have completed my first car, which is a dining car, this dining car will be attached behind a baggage car which also contains an on-board kitchen. The train contains 6 tables with 2 chairs each (I wish I could it more), opening external and internal doors, at each and of the dining car, there is a soda fountain and a sink as well as a set of drawers. I want to include: Locomotive Baggage car with kitchen Dining car (this car) Lounge car (possibly double decker) Normal sitting car Sleeping car observation car If you want to build in real life, no credit is needed, just have fun. I hope this inspires you, may Christ be with you all. God Bless. diningcar.lxf
  24. Hi, i am trying to find a way to build a realistic redwood tree. But i find no way to build a realistic trunk, maybe someone has an advice? it should be round i found some pics in the net but i dont think they build it on the LDD is there someone who knows some tricks or a building instruction? please help me!
  25. Hello. I've repeatedly found the handlebar piece (30031) difficult to work with, and trying it again proved no different. What I'm trying to do is connect a handlebar (at a 45 degree angle) with a horizontal or slightly upwards-facing and otherwise unattached minifigure torso (only connected by its grip on the handlebars). Does anyone know how to do this? I'm using the MINI UPPER PART 2K version of the minifigure torso, if that matters. Here's a quick sketch of what I'm trying to achieve. The minifig torso is blue, the arms are green, the hands are orange and the handlebars are the grey part.
