  2. This is my "The Great Eye: Barad-dûr" Lego Ideas set. It would be a pit for Lego to never produce any more large sets for the world of Middle Earth without a decent version of the main enemy Sauron himself and so I have made this set in hopes that one large missing chunk can be filled. If you want to support it in hopes of it getting made you can do so through here. Every vote makes a change so please do not hesitate to leave your support. It only takes a few minutes if you don't already have a account imagine all the time I put to make it:http://https://ideas.lego.com/projects/96737 This is the main image in a large resolution. If you wish to see more close ups there are many more to be seen on the Lego Ideas link. Let me know what you think. -Gus Something happened with the post the title should be ""Sauron in armor minifigure along with Barad-dûr (Lotr) What do you think?" and it posted it twice. GG

  4. I have used 3 sets plus some extra bits to expand the Tower. I never like the open back models of buildings, so I added a back wall and prepared the set to hinge open on most levels, to gain access to the play features. I need a lot more flat black plates to make this work properly, so for now the model is static. While the model is substantially different to the original I have tried to retain the same styling. The original set we have is the equivalent of 102 feet tall, using a minifig as equivalent to 6 feet tall. The height of my model has risen to about 104cm, which is still only equivalent to 148 feet. 104/4.2 = 24.76 x 6 = 148 feet. Which is still only 1/3 of the height it should be I do not think the lego could support the weight of the 3.5m model that would be required for a proper Tower 500 feet tall .... My table would probably collapse anyway and I might have to remove my ceiling to build that. The final height of my model will be about 106cm. This is still a work in progress, This stage was mainly getting the Structure into shape. The interiors will be finalised during the next phase of the build. Which may take quite some time. First the double depth base which is also a few bricks taller than the original With a bit of the interior Then the Palantir Room, I have left the second light brick in place. I will build a table or statue to house this second light brick, which will light up the chandaliers on the Entrance floor. I like having the second window and balcony, but might replace it with walling to move back towards the tower from the book. Above the Palantir Room is the laboratory or Bomb making room, there are three versions of the bomb inside. Not very sensible, so this will move into the basement. At the top of this laboratory is Sarumans' Library, which is behind the sloping walls, although this is not shown well. I put the Armoury above the library, with some Uruks checking the new gear. Again this does not really make much sense, so I will move this down to the basement. So this armoury level may become Sarumans' bedroom. Above the armoury is the Great Observatory. I have made a Refracting Telescope or as the Uruks call it "The Magic Distance Viewer". Saruman keeps the Palantir as his own secret. The final part above the teeth spikes is an unused room This could be Sarumans Lego room or maybe where he stores some of his technology? and then there is the spire with Gandalf held prisoner on the open platform at the top of the Tower. Putting it together 1, 2, 3. Finally the the new tower and the view from the ground. If you have any positive suggestions they will be welcome. Beyond that I look forward to the Lego Ideas producing a Minas Tirith set.
  5. I'm looking for a shield with the white tree of Gondor permanently applied/printed on it. Where can you get those? Are they good quality? Alternatively, does anyone provide a sticker or transfer of the white tree? I already have a plain black shield that would look good with the crest of Gondor on it. Thanks in advance, Amps

  7. So the other day I went to Cambridge Toys 'R' Us to find the £12 Hobbit set from 2014 BotFA wave, but there were no Hobbit sets there whatsoever. Earlier I went to John Lewis and still no sign. The only places I've seen these sets is in the Lego Shop. I found the new Lake Town set in Toys 'R' Us Ipswich but nothing else. Anyone know why?
  8. This is my entry to the "Missing Set" category. Everbody wanted a third wave of LotR sets with some Gondor soldiers, so I choose Osgiliath so that we can get Gondor rangers and soldiers. Also having a Faramir minifig seems to be very important for me. The build is inspired by the techniques of the Dol Guldur sets. My aim was to make it look like ruins, while it is still sturdy, playable and matching the real sets. The figures and shields are made with photoshop. Setname: 79021 Battle of Osgiliath Parts: 718 Minfigs: 8 Price: 89,99 $ / 99,99 € The set is now available at Lego Ideas, I would be really happy if you support me, thanks ! Thanks for hosting this great contest, I love everything from Middleearth. And good luck to the other contestants !

It is almost sure that LEGO The Lord of the Rings is over. To most of us the line feels incomplete with the lack of several important characters (like the Witch-King, Eowyn, Sauron and Faramir), factions (especially Gondor), buildings (mainly Minas Tirith) and creatures (like the Balrog, Treebeard and mountain trolls). Many of us feel that this theme needs just one wave to 'complete' the LEGO Lord of the Rings. Even only one set, which is preferably set in Gondor, could solve most of our problems. For example, you can make a Battle of the Pelennor Fields as big as you want (depicting several stages of the battle and the preceding events) with the Witch-King on fell beast, Éowyn, wounded Faramir, Gondor soldiers, a mountain troll, a piece of Minas Tirith, etc. To raise awareness I would like to start a petition to let LEGO know that we care. I know some of you think this will not matter, but maybe it will. If we get enough support maybe we can at least get an official statement from TLG that LEGO LotR is over and why. I am working on the format right now, but to make this a strong statement I could use your help. Thank you very much for your help.

    [MOC] Frodo's Choice

This was a back-up entry to the Middle Earth LEGO Olympics on MOCpages. I built it before hand just in case the entry I actually submitted (which you can see here: http://www.eurobrick...00#entry2103221) didn't work out. :) The category is to take a song from the Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit movies (this one being "May It Be," which is played during the credits in Fellowship of the Ring) and interpret it into a build. I don't really have thoughts on why I chose this scene, other than the fact that whenever I heard the song, this one always came to mind. :)
  12. LUG Brasil was invited to display some Middle Earth LEGO at an Anime convention in Rio de Janeiro. Due to space constraints we had to combine Hobbit and LOTR in a single layout, which proved a bit challenging for the geography/chronology freak in me. Not sure whether to tag this as a MOD or a MOC, because the landscape is a MOC but most of the actual builds are MODs or even original sets. Anyway, here is how it turned out. The left side is intended to represent the Battle of Five Armies from The Hobbit, while the right side is the Battle of Helm's Deep, from The Lord of The Rings. Bag End and the major characters' minifigs were also included upfront, just because people love them so much. This was a last-minute decision, but really helped attract people to our table and was probably the most photographed part of the layout. Hobbit + LOTR @ Anime Wings by preuss, on Flickr For the Hobbit side, I've built a mountain to better display the Dol Guldur sets - there are 2x 79014, 5x 79011, 2x 79001 and 1x 79015 scattered over there. In front of that, there is a Mirkwood Elf outpost made of 5x 79012 and 1x 79004 next to a mixed Lake Town / Dale made of 2x 79017, one 79013, one modded 79016 and the guards from 32x 30216. Some of the polybags' builds were modded into the little catapult boats. There's also a 79002 somewhere to help with the scenery. On the LOTR side, there is a 9474 on steroids (I essentially increased the tower, raised the terrain and did some landscaping around it) 2x 9471 and the mandatory 10237, plus an extra Ent and half of a 9476. The Isengard area ended up looking pretty poor due to bad planning on my part - if only I hadn't left the rest of the 9474s at home, it would have looked much better. Please let me know what you think. This was my first public LEGO display and I'd love to know how it could be improved. I've already learned a lot of DON'Ts while unsuccessfully trying to transport parts of this one to an out-of-state expo, so any tips to help moving big landscapes would be greatly appreciated as well. Best, Julio

    Edge of Night

My entry to Round 1 of the Middle Earth LEGO Olympics over on MOCpages. The category is to take a song from the Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit movies, my choice being "Edge of Night," performed by Billy Boyd (Pippin) in Return of the King, and interpret it into a build. :)

They are using the battering ram named Grond to break through the main gate. It is shaped like a wolf's head and enchanted with black magic. I hope you enjoy, thanks for C&C

    [MOC] The Balrog

Here I would like to share with you a Lord of the Rings MOC that I have been working on for quite some time now. Here I present to you my take on the most fearsome of demons from Middle Earth, the Balrog: LEGO Lord of the Rings - Balrog by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr LEGO Lord of the Rings - Balrog by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr LEGO Lord of the Rings - Balrog by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr This beast contains over a thousand parts and is very poseable and can stand up on it's own two feet despite being relatively heavy. The chain which I used to represent the Balrog's whip is held up by means of craft wire, but other than that, it is completely purist. The final model ended up being mostly dark bluish grey as you can see. Black may have been better suited to it, but some of the vital textural parts used on the arms and legs just do not exist in black, hence the colour choice here. A gallery containing more pictures and a special fire effect POV-Ray render can be found in this Flickr album, near the bottom. If you would like the LDD file, it is here. Note that most of the flames are missing here. I do hope to eventually build the entire scene with the Balrog from the Mines of Moria sequence of Fellowship of the Ring, so stay tuned... Thanks for looking, and I hope you enjoyed looking at this MOC!
  20. Hello, guys! I want to introduce my debut work on LEGO Ideas – "The Mirror of Galadriel". The project is dedicated to the iconic episode from Lord of the Rings - The Mirror of Galadriel. In this episode the Lorien queen Galadriel shows Frodo his future with help of magic elven mirror. The set consists of approximately 100 pieces and 2 minifigures. It has a playing feature with hidden container in elven wellspring. LINK: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/85110

  22. Hello everybody! I'm not a very active member but I would like to share my current Lego project with you. It is a slowly growing layout of Hobbiton. It all started with Bag End. I was very satisfied with this so I tried to keep it going and have started to turn this one Hobbithole into a layout. So now it look like this \ It is not my goal to recreate the entire film set but it does look like it. I am now in the process of deciding where to go with these two roads. Probably they will meet somewhere on the left and then continue as one road that crosses the Bywater Bridge. This bridge has the Sandyman's Mill on one side and The Green Dragon on the other. So I will have to build them as well. Hope you like it and let me know what you think! ps, there are no interiors Check out more on my brickshelf.

    Greetings from Lego.Ideas

Hi, I'm Anduin1710 and I'm an AFOL from Germany. I was born in East Berlin, this means to get a little LEGO set was always like birthday, x-mas and eastern together! And Lego was always very expensive too. ... I started to buy and collecting Lego, since I found the Lego Minifiures Series 2. I'm very interessed in history, so I found the historical minifigures pritty cool. I like Star Wars too, so I stared to buy some Lego Star Wars sets. I found the Lego Digital Designer to creat my own MOCs on my computer. I'm a big THE LORD OF THE RINGS fan, so I started to build my own LOTR sets. And with the Lego LOTR and THE HOBBIT sets my dream come true. In April 2014 I joined Lego cuusoo (now it is lego ideas) to publish my creations. Here are my projects: You can also visit me on flickr. Thank you for your attention.
