Hi, I'm here again presenting my 35th Review in Eurobricks. The Ship In A Bottle! *A quick note. The trans blue plates, dried leaves outside are not included in the set, they are just props throughout the review.* Overview Name: 21313 Ship in a Bottle Theme: LEGO Ideas year 2018 #020 Pieces: 962 pieces (284 of these are trans blue 1x1 plates as the water) Minifigures: 0 Price: £69.99 / $69.99 / 69.99€ Box This is a present that my sister bought from Singapore as shown in the sticker at the lower left corner of the box. The box art is nicely displaying the bottle on a tabletop in a ship with an awesome sunset outside of the window. LEGO Ideas #020 showing that this is the 20th LEGO Ideas set in 2018. Here at the back of the box we can see a kraken chasing the ship and the bottle is landed on the shore. Scale is not quite right but very special and pretty peek through a telescope I think. 1:1 piece was the flag of the ship (no stickers ALL printed). I really love the drawings here. Oh that compass. The content of the box. (I've already built bag 1 before I took this picture.) The distribution of the pieces in the bags are quite neat. Bag1 is the ship, bag 2 trans clear parts, bag 3 water, bag 4 for the base and 4 large trans clear pieces for the top of the bottle. Note that round trans white round dish at the top left corner of bag 4, that's the compass and it is a very nice printed piece. The front page of the instruction booklet is the box art. The Fan design is a bigger bottle compared to the set but it would cost more if the set was that big, so how will you choose? A pricier but bigger bottle or this one will do? (That mosaic human sized tile is not bad at all.) Quite an organised distribution of pieces in bags. This is one special build technique. Pouring the sea water. I love this. Trans Clear parts! LEGO is so amazing that these messy pieces will become a beautiful bottle after they are correctly assembled. Another thing special in this set is to avoid mistakes in the build, LEGO incorporates this 1:1 picture in the instructions for you to check your build. How sweet! This trans clear build is the base of the bottle. They are connected by small parts so it is quite sturdy and hard to remove so try not to make mistake here. Building upwards. Side view of the bottle. Note those four 1x2 jumpers. They are there for the ship to be mounted inside. The top view of the finished bottle. 6002 Trans-Clear Panel 6 x 6 x 9 Corner Convex with Curved Top looks nice as the top part of the bottle. This part is not new but quite rare as it appears in only four sets including this 21313 Ship in a Bottle. I'm so in love with the bottle. The built of the base starting from this brown skeleton. This is a very interesting build as to make the compass look like a bowl, the print of the 44375bpb09 Trans-Clear Dish 6 x 6 Inverted (Radar) - Solid Studs with Vintage Compass Pattern is at the 'wrong' side of the dish quote @makoy. So the studs of this dish are actually at the bottom of the dish. LEGO brilliantly put the yellow 2x2 tiles on two sides of the round plate and invert them like in the picture. Then the build was locked in place using the white 1x4 tile and later covered by the brown plate with quarter circle. I love this unconventional legal build. Masterpiece! This compass is not functional but that gold arrow really add up to the design of the build! This is the part where I'm sold. Turns out the base is even nicer than the bottle itself! The globes are very nice addition to the sides of the base and that arches fitted the bottle perfectly. The word Leviathan is also a very nice print where it carries the meaning of a very large aquatic creature. Any idea why? Turns out that I need to be very careful while 'opening' the bottle to put the ship inside. As you can see here, the top of the mast is actually very close to the 'glass' of the bottle. Extra care is needed to put the ship in and close the top panels. Mesmerizing. That compass lies under the bottle became the 'inner' beauty of the set. The ship is a tight fit in the bottle. You will break the mast trying to push the bar in the plate inside the body of the ship so be extra careful on that. A very nice display set. I really love this very much. Review summary Playability: -/10 - I think it is quite unfair to put this point into consideration in this set. So I'm not counting this in the overall point. You might break something playing with this set. Design / Building Experience: 10/10 - The design is very nice and subtle as a LEGO set. Minifigures: -/10 - No minifigure but I would love a pirate nanofigure in the deck of the ship. Price / Value for money: 9/10 - RM300+ for a set without minifigure. I say the price is for the design of the bottle and the compass. Overall: 9.5/10 - This is a set where non LEGO fan will also like it. This is my new scaled model of Lamborghini Aventador SV. It is fully remote controlled, and all parts are Lego original. Features in this design include: 1. Independent suspension on all 4 wheels. 2. Openable front hood. 3. Openable rear hood. 4. Openable doors (scissor doors). 5. 2 x L motors for driving. 6. 1 x servo motor for steering. 7. Working steering wheel along with steering (540 degree lock-to-lock). 8. Working front lights along with driving motors. 9. Working rear lights along with steering motor. As an alternative to the usual vehicles, here is my Technic MOC of an Orange Clown Fish, which can be built as Nemo (with "lucky fin") or Marlin. The model has 4 motorised functions: 1) Pectoral fins with 2 degrees of freedom in cyclic movement; 2) Folding in of pectoral fins; 3) Moving mouth and gills; and 4) Swishing tail. There are also 3 manual functions: 1) Tilt with trans-clear beams, able to nibble the anemone or swim a little above the flat position; 2) Turn on the turntable, through at least 180 degrees; and 3) the Anemone can move with some crankshafts underneath, via the gear on the left of it. The gear change is currently sequential (motorised) but I'm working on upgrades to that. The model has about 2000 parts in the fish and stand, plus another 500 or so in the sea bed items and turntable covering. It is designed to fit the parts/cost and functions/cost criteria for the Porsche 42056 or Off Road Buggy 42099 price point. You may notice parts from several sets; mouth/gill wheel arches from Corvettes 42093, fin edges from Car Transporter 42098, turntable from big red crane 42082 and orange parts from many sets. I have erred towards the real fish, omitting the whites of eyes and white teeth that are used in the cartoon characters. There is a short video and a long video on YouTube and the project is live on LEGO Ideas. More pictures there, and please add comments. I have development options for the control scheme. I used PF to get the functions working well but, as a potential set, I intend to use the 2-port PU hub for 2 motors (gear change and function power) as swap-in replacements; that would allow handset or phone control for best user-accessibility. One or two 4-port hubs could be used instead, but should I go that far, given the risk of loading the price with the electrical parts? The ultimate motorisation might be like 42100 with 4 motors in the fish and 3 motors on the sea bed, but £400 was not my intention. Nevertheless it should be cheaper than keeping a real fish and has the advantage of leaving the real fish where they belong. As a large Technic set, there is potential for sponsorship from Disney Pixar, just as other sets are sponsored by vehicle manufacturers. The Finding Dory franchise is accepted as a theme. Hope you like it. I would be very grateful for your support. If you would like to see Technic Creature sets alongside the usual vehicle sets then this might be the way to do it. I designed a Lego Space Shuttle to scale with the recent Lego Saturn V set. Since I get this question a lot, it is more proportionally correct than the 10231 and 10213 Shuttle, and is also accurately scaled to the Saturn V :) I posted a version of it on here before, but this one has been adjusted and finally submitted it to Lego Ideas. Hello everyone! This is my first post here, and I want to introduce myself with my Spanish Galleon build! (excuse the pirate flag its the only one I have at the moment) The ship itself is more than 2,000 pieces with more than 15 yards of rigging. It has a total of 4 decks, which carry its 24 guns. I have been planning and working on this build for the last 3 months and very happy how it turned out! This is my first large ship I have built, and it comes in around 3 feet long (just the deck) and 2 feet tall, which means its about 1/2 of minifigure scale! I used a combination of different hull techniques that I learn here to give the hull its shape. I have yet to include sails but will be working on that shortly! Hello, Some of you might have already seen this thanks to @leafan's thread on Historical/Castle projects currently posted on LEGO Ideas (thanks again for sharing!). My latest entry - The Modular Knight's Castle is my humble attempt to bring back the good old Castle back on the shop shelves. It consists of six basic types of modules that allow you to rearrange your castle fairly quickly and easily. Some of the modules like the walls and the main gate consist of hinged segments to provide good flexibility in terms of shaping the castle as well. I have tried to make it as playable as I could by including features such as a working portcullis and a drawbridge operated with a windlass. There is also a lot of space to place your knights on top of the walls and battlements and inside the towers. A siege tower with a folded bridge is also included in the set to add even more playability . The entire build (as well as each and every one of the modules of course) is very sturdy - the castle is actually used by a six years old for almost a year now, and still remains intact (can't say the same about some of the knights unfortunately ). My entry was selected to the Fan Vote phase of "Build a Vintage car to cruise the streets of LEGO® Modular Buildings!". It is a late 50's muscle car tuning. On the main picture the couple is watching the freshly installed supercharger and on the last one the first try is visible :) One of the most interesting thing about this car is the brickbuilt flame decoration which was inspired by one of my Matchboxes from my childhood. Some tricky solutions were used to build the flame decoration on the hood especially without the supercharger which is visible on one of the pictures. I prefer this solution instead of stickers to keep the flexibility of the used parts in further builds. It is (mostly) a studless build in Speed Champions style which means a 6 studs wide car with a 4 studs wide windscreen. However the front wheels came from a City set to make them similar to the rear ones which are a bit bigger Creator wheels to make the car more dynamic. I hope you enjoy this car. Hello everyone! Earlier this month I made a close 1:1 scale Sony PlayStation 2. It includes 1626 pieces, and it has features like an openable disc tray and an interior. The build took over a month to design and build. The console is based on to SCPH-30001 model of the original PS2, and this model includes a heatsink, motherboard, optical disc drive and a power supply board, which are removable. The model also includes an expansion bay. The controller was the biggest challenge to make, as the controller has handles and overall a bit complicated shape, but I am happy on how it turned out. I decided to include a disc just for the disc tray feature. The vertical stand was sold as a separate accessory, but I decided to include it if the model was to be displayed vertically. The stand doesn't have the best build but it was the best I could do. I hope you liked it, and if so, consider supporting it on LEGO Ideas. "A Home for Anton" is my ReBuild of 21310 LEGO Ideas "Old Fishing Store" His fireplace is built into a rocky crop on a hilltop near the seashore ... Anton stores his fishing gear on his back porch ... Anton sleeps up in his Loft. Awake now, he has a cuppa Tea ... He hangs his favorite fisherman's sweater to dry near the back porch ... Inside, he enjoys his fireplace, while kitty meows for food ... He waits for his smoked fish on the stone grill while enjoying some Lemonade ... Resting on a bench in front of his home, he tells kitty to stop pestering the Seagull. This ReBuild uses only parts from the set 21310 -- if you have time, there's a few more photos in a flickr album, including one with the front wall off, roof up, and side wall open, plus one with the furniture items pulled out of his house. A futuristic Harley Davidson concept motorcycle I built for the "Build An Epic Ride For The Future" contest on LEGO Ideas. I thought I'd post it over here for fellows here to check out (Above): An over the top render of the motorcycle riding on the highway. It's capable of self-driving, hehe To stay somewhat fateful to the classic Harley Davidson designs, I maintained some details like the V-Twin engine (which is now oversized, and transparent), the exhausts (even though it's supposed to be emission free...), and the placement of the front suspension forks. Other than that, I guess it looks closer to a futuristic sports bike I also thought that elements such as the Large PF Linear Actuators and the Mindstorms IR Sensor (which I totally wrecked it's color), without considering their functions, provide plenty of free details in such a small space. I would certainly like to know what you think about this motorcycle Did I do Harley Davidson motorcycles justice? Thanks for viewing!

Hello everyone, I have built a model of one of Britains classic race cars, the Bentley 4.5l ‘Blower’, a project that was never actually approved by W.O Bentley (company founder) but nonetheless took part in the 1930 Le Mans 24hr race and French Grand Prix where it finished second behind a much more agile Bugatti type 35. Its claim to fame was not through racing victory but through its racing stories. The model has working ‘worm and wheel’ steering and a removable bonnet to expose the 4.5 litre, 4-cylinder supercharged engine. Accuracy and realism was key right from the chassis frame and the parts were spray painted to give two new green colours. First of all, I will like to thank Eurobricks and TLG for giving me this opportunity for me to review the beloved 21108 Ghostbusters set. Of course, without the success of the past LEGO CUUSOO platform and now currently known as the LEGO IDEAS, Brent Waller has achieved the 10,000 votes on 14 August 2013 and his project had went through the panel review, ultimately achieved the actual LEGO Design and Production status. And, this is where it has lead to. I had never bought CUUSOO Products before, except the recent 21103 The DeLorean Time Machine which is awesome treat for me since I love the Back To The Future movies very much. Without knowing it, we are actually at the 6th product launch of this cycle where there is a migration of branding platform from LEGO CUUSOO to LEGO IDEAS. To mark the first official LEGO IDEAS product and the sixth LEGO CUUSOO product, the 21108 Ghostbusters is the selected product to mark the current transformation as indicated in the box art. What is LEGO IDEAS? So, what is this LEGO IDEAS all about? LEGO IDEAS is pretty similar like the past LEGO CUUSOO concept. To show and establish an unified brand of LEGO Product lines, LEGO IDEAS is introduced as a full pledged theme to drive the LEGO CUUSOO concept especially since LEGO CUUSOO is no longer under beta testing or a test bed to carry out new potential LEGO trials in selected market and global market by gathering votes and undergo LEGO review panel. Marcos took care of the iconic Ecto-1 vehicle, while Adam took care of the design of the Ghostbusters' minifigures. I will have to admit that both have done a terrific job to bring this set to us. Of course, without Brent Waller's determination and perseverance, this can never be made possible and a reality. This image is similar to those LEGO Architecture Experience The content of the sealed box Within the sealed box, it comes with 6 mint packages and an instruction manual to build up the set. After the building is completed, these are the remaining spare parts inclusive of the orange brick separator. The very nicely designed instruction manual The instruction manual has a smooth finishing and it is very nice to touch and hold. It contain many interesting facts and information, such as the origin of Ghostbusters, Ecto-1 film development, nice Ghostbusters quotes from the characters and a word from the Model Designers which I enjoyed reading the most. My only complaint for this instruction manual. It is very brittle and the pages are easily torn off from the book spine, especially when I left it wide open on both ends and flipped the page after next during the building process, the pages just got off. Anyway, please be very careful with the instruction manual if you are intending to buy just only one set. A sneak peek onto the instruction manual The instruction manual highlights that each of the unique torso is specifically for individual characters. Don't mix them up wrongly and take your time to look at the torsos carefully. The official characters' names Let the fun building begin It is pretty fun and challenging to open all of the sealed packages and pour it into one building pool. Even though it increase the building time, it can be very fun to search for the elements for each step that you will encounter. Personally, the total piece count for this set is good for people who prefer to build through this approach. Exclusive printed parts This set contain zero stickers and the above parts are printed bricks and tiles. It is always a wonderful treat when we are able to see nil stickers and able to enjoy the printed parts as it is. You get a total of 2 license plates for the front and back, 4 proton packs, 4 Ghostbusters' logos and a computer terminal. Please note that the computer terminal is not an exclusive printed part. It has been existed for a few years. Presenting the Ghostbusters minifigures Have a close look on the official minifigures' naming. May I present to you from left to right, Ray Stantz, Egon Spengler, Peter Venkman and Winston Zeddemore. These Ghostbusters are now in official LEGO minifigures' sizing and khaki brown outfit. The minifigures' appearance are remarkable and impressive. It has nailed the details very well and it is very pleased to see that lots of attention is actually given to these minifigures. You will find more exciting details in the next few sections. Back view of the unique minifigures with their names printed I did not expect to see that their names to be spelt out at the back of their torso or uniform. In this way, if you aren't sure of their initials such as E.S or R.S, then flip to the back to find the right person for it. Different unique dual facials What's best, all of them received a different set of unique dual facials which shows their 'exciting' side of their work. This is just totally brilliant. I could see these minifigures' heads to be found useful in minifigures' customisation. A closer view of the proton packs The brick built proton packs are very nicely done out and the printed part attached at the back is indeed welcoming. Not forget to mention that the ghost trap for the Ghostbusters is also part of their weapons assortment and the ghost trap is very vital to their ghostbusters operations. The building process of the minifigures display stand The building of the minifigures display stand take place with the signature yellow and black to form the base of the stand. It definitely make a fine display piece to house the Ghostbusters minifigures at a single location. It is great that the designer has given some thoughts to do up this simple and yet effective display stand. Back view of the fully assembled proton packs on these lovely minifigures The building process of Ecto-1 The above 2 images show the basic illustration of the building process of the Ecto-1 which has certainly involved lots of advanced building techniques to form the basis of the car. When I was attending the Eurobricks Event 2014 in Billund, Marcos Bessa was sharing with us on the design process of this Ecto-1. His main challenge is to attempt to maintain the outer facade of the original model by Brent Waller, keeping the structure tight and firm by reinforcing the sides, to achieve the realistic look of a 1959 Cadillac professional chassis, similar to an ambulance/hearse combination and ultimately achieving the LEGO qualified product. It is no easy feat to be able to keep many factors in mind. As the targeted building age group is 10+, it means builders at the above the age of 10 should be able to handle advanced building techniques unlike the much younger builders. Great pity that I didn't take a photo with him earlier, but it is definitely great to hear him share his insightful thoughts. The completed built of the highly sophisticated roof-top with some hi-tech gadgets I really never understood why the Ecto-1's roof-top siren looks ever so complicated. It looks as if it is being stuffed with some hi-tech gadgets to track or monitor. But, in actual fact, it is just a special siren that emit a very special sound when it is on the move. I tried to find some references but to no avail. Any Ghostbusters enthusiasts could help to decipher the special meaning of the Ecto-1's vehicular roof-top? From the top to the sides till the edges, the Ecto-1 is coated with very smooth and sleek finishing. At one glance, you are able to identify and associate the built white vehicle is the iconic Ghostbusters' Ecto-1. The details are just plain amazing and it made me loss for words. The whole structure is firm and sturdy and I have positive building experience from the start to the end. Lots of amazing details ranging from the wheels, the back of the vehicle and the vehicular front. The front is the driver seat. Even though the steering wheel is placed in the middle, with some modifications and adjustments, you should be able to be place 2 minifigures at the front without the proton packs. The middle section with the computer terminal could only allow me to place 1 minifigure and I can place the last one in there, if I remove the computer terminal. The rear will be the easy storage and retrieval area of the proton packs. It is not possible to place all 4 proton packs at the rear compartment. What are they doing within the vehicle? This is the optimum arrangement without any additional modification on my part. I wonder if you guys can fit the same way as I do? How do you feel now when your design is now part of the official LEGO product line? It feels great, it's literally a childhood dream come true, I used to fantasize as a kid about becoming a LEGO designer, and although I didn't design the final product it's as close as I'll likely ever get. Not only that but as a huge fan of Ghostbusters it's a great honour to contribute to the legacy of the franchise by being responsible for the merger of 2 of my favourite things, LEGO and Ghostbusters. Why did you choose to make a Ghostbusters CUUSOO entry? I never had figures or anything like that as a kid, so whatever I was into I recreated with LEGO, the main 3 things being Batman, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Ghostbusters. LEGO had already officially released sets for the first 2 so I thought I'd take a stab at Ghostbusters for my local LUG, Brisbricks. I initially created the Ghostbusters and Ecto-1 to display at their annual expo. It wasn't until a friend suggested I post it to CUUSOO that I even though about it. At the time my Batmobile Tumbler was doing reasonably well for votes but everything else I had posted was languishing so I didn't even consider it before that. Did you do something special for promoting your CUUSOO entry and making it reach 10.000 votes? There's so many things I could suggest, I've been thinking about doing a blog or video or something with tips on how to achieve 10000 votes, there's some many things. There's no magic rule to be honest though but there's a lot of small things you can do to help your project. I've found videos on YouTube showing off your project help immensely, they reach people who would otherwise not see or hear about your project, that's one of the big things you can do. On the other end of the spectrum, making sure your thumbnail image of your project is interesting and attracts people to click your project is a huge help, the biggest part of that is making sure when viewed as a small thumbnail, your picture isn't cropped or cutting off important text or parts of your creation. Care to share your new CUUSOO projects? I only just posted my follow up to Ghostbusters, The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, I have a few ideas for future projects but I've also been trying to promote some of my non-licensed projects on CUUSOO as well, in particular my Modular Costume Store and ALA-N: Astronautical Lunar Android 9. They're both projects I uploaded when I first discovered CUUSOO that I'm still proud of, being unattached to a license though they're far more difficult to generate interest in. My hats off to Peter Reid and his Exosuit being the only project thus far that has reached 10000 votes and passed review, that's a huge achievement without a license or real world object behind it. What other potential LEGO Themes will you like to see as actual LEGO products? I'd love to see some classic space reborn stuff, I've dabbled in that area for MOCs myself. But in terms of licenses, there's not much left anymore, TLG are covering all their bases pretty well themselves with stuff like Batman, TMNT, Simpsons and niche products like Back to the Future and Ghostbusters. The inception of my own Batmobile Tumbler project came from my disappointment with LEGOs own official Tumbler at the time which was simplified and aimed for a younger audience, so I'd love to see a UCS Tumbler. I've got no idea why my own didn't pass review after reaching 10000 votes but my hope is that that they've got their own one in development, if it was complete with a Heath Ledger Joker Minifig and I'd be buy it in a heartbeat. Comparisons pictures with the original model and actual model Credits to Brent Waller for the usage of the original comparison pictures. Permission is given for these pictures to be used in this review. So, after viewing the comparison, there are some distinct differences, such as the side rear of the vehicles, overall length of the vehicles, lack of chrome parts, design of the bonnets, etc. Although I never had a chance to see Brent's actual model, I personally felt that the finished product is pretty impressive and up to mark. Shall we nab that ghost? Let's catch all of them! Superb outstanding set ever To conclude, I have nothing much to add for now. Alright, I have one small feedback though, and it is the exclusion of Slimer. I really wish somehow or another, that Slimer can be included to make this set more complete. However, I guess the focus is more on the Ghostbusters theme as on its own. With a price tag of USD$49.90, there are plentiful of treats to acquire this set with no regrets. This set will definitely be popular among the LEGO Community and also to fans of Ghostbusters movies. It is certainly a great way to celebrate the 30th Anniversary with LEGO bricks. Summary review Playability: 9/10 (Fun minifigures and high playability with the Ecto-1.) Design: 9/10 (Very detailed minifigures and superb design of Ecto-1.) Price: 9/10 (Reasonably priced for all of the amazing parts and details included.) Overall: 9/10 (Get this set as soon as you can without hesitation.) I gave it a "5" based on my Review Score Card. I used a "capsule" design, with a pair of dome on each living module to have a good light source.. in the middle of the ship there is a working rotating system usefull to create the artificial gravity on the floor of the living modules. During the journey, the crew can live inside them easly.. Caronte by Rusty B. The spaceship is mdular, because when arrives near Mars, the modules will be undocked from the ship main structure and will be send on the planet landing on the surface using parachutes... The crew lands on surface inside the Command pod / Rover and assembles the landed modules to create the ground base.. there are also two containers with inside solar panels, connection wires, a accumulation battery, a parabolic dish antenna and the rover wheels, that will be mounted on the Command pod to trasform it in a rover.. Caronte by Rusty B. The command pod / Rover has a command seat to drive the spaceship/rover, a second seat with computer and a back space to transport things.. Caronte by Rusty B. The base itself is playable with the opening roofs, to let play inside with the crew minifigures.. list of modules: - Airlock: Caronte by Rusty B. The Airlock helps the crew to enter and exit the base, balancing the internal atmosphere and contains the spacesuits for the external surface walk.. - Crew living module: Caronte by Rusty B. The main living module, with beds for crew, lamps on them, a recreation computer and space to keep personal objects.. - Science module: Caronte by Rusty B. In this living module the crew works, making experiments with Mars rocks, analyzing the scansions made with rover... there are a main desk with a laptop and microscope, rotating seat, a space with lab instrumentations, a drill to analyze rocks, and the infirmary, with all need to heal the crew.. - Greenhouse module: Caronte by Rusty B. This living module provides the food for the sustenance of the crew, during the space travel and on the ground... with a mix of traditional and idroponic colture, the plants grow and produces vegetables and fruits.. - Cargo bay: Caronte by Rusty B. In this container there are all the equipments to make the ground base operative.. directional solar panels, a accumulation battery, wires to connect the panels to the battery to the base itself, and a parabolic dish antenna for the communication between the base and the control base on the Moon or the Earth.. - Wheels bay: Caronte by Rusty B. Hello Fellow Lego Fans. Recently I designed a unique MOC, a classic Lego Street Sweeper that has modern features, but still give homage to the classic Lego Street Sweeper Sets including the 6645, 6649 and 7242. I researched each set, and noticed that their availability was becoming lower. So, I thought it might not be a bad idea to do an updated Street Sweeper version for Town and City builders as a possible release. Having to consider modern design aspects, I did try to "build-into" the MOC an easy conversion of the model for those wanting a more "true" town look. Likewise, in a Vintage City Theme, some design elements might not be correct for the time period. So, this design affords the ability of each interested parties to have the ability to "remove" far more than they might need to "add" to the design to make it fit their layouts. I would not consider this idea a "universal" approach as much as an "adaptable" approach. Following all of these considerations, features, and potential applications of the MOC as a kit, I also had to find a unique design that was believable, kept the parts count under control, and served as a believable "next generation" version to Set 7242. A new feature in this MOC is the use of the Lego 2441 vehicle base, which saved parts, fits modern design efforts and shows that with creativity large scale designs can be implemented on the 2441 chassis. It was an interesting challenge to try and incorporate all of these aspects into the design and still make it visually appealing. Hello fellow builders, I present you the Flying Dutchman, the infamous ghost ship from the Pirates of the Caribbean film series, in LEGO! The idea came to me a year ago, while I was sitting at my desk when I cast me eyes upon the 3 official LEGO POTC ships on the top of my shelf: The Black Pearl, The Queen Anne's Revenge, and The Silent Mary. For years I had been waiting for LEGO to release a Flying Dutchman, but to no avail it never came out. Determined to build the ship myself, I embarked on an exciting, challenging but rewarding journey to produce a MOC which would take up its rightful place among my fleet and make it complete. Let's face it, the current Lego Ideas' process is long, complicated and frustrating. In fact, given that a submission could be considered acceptable and given that, after months of waiting, the project could reach the 10000 votes, TLC's final review can eventually crush supporters' hopes. Maybe the way to go is represented by the recent Ten Years Anniversary Fan Vote procedure. Preselected submissions, only one vote and a few weeks to choose the winner. What do you think?

The Treehouse was selected to be the 25th Lego Ideas set back alongside the Flinstones set, but since then we've had no word on it, even including the Steamboat Willie set replacing it on the number ranking (despite originally being incorrectly labeled as 24, it's now labeled as 25). Did Lego just cancel this set to the wayside? I haven't heard anythig about it since it was first announced. Anyone know whats happening there?
