[MOC / LOTR] Tom Bombadil Rescues the Hobbits from Old Man Willow

Started this for the Lego Ideas LOTR contest from a weeks ago, but ran out of time for it then, and just came back to finish it now. -
Now Rivendell is out, I thought it was a good time to start this thread. There is already a similar one for Star Wars, Harry Potter, DC, MCU and Pirates of the Caribbean, so one for The Lord of the Rings (as well as The Hobbit and any other Middle Earth) figures seems appropriate. If you haven't looked at any of the threads for the other themes, it's a place to share and show off any updates to improve your LOTR figures. It will be a while before I get Rivendell, so here are some I have put together in the meantime. Tom Bombadil, with his famous yellow boots. He is based on his depiction in the video games, as well as probably the best known illustration. I'm quite happy with him, although a more detailed torso and brown legs with boots would be better. There is also his appearance on the cards which features one of the crew of LOTR dressed by weta as Tom. I think Bilbo's Lake Town garb would look good for this, but unfortunately I don't thi k there are any dark blue legs with yellow boots. Next, here is one I threw together quickly, some useful figures to help you populate Rivendell. Using the 2012-14 elf hair pieces and Princess Leia's old torso, CMF Elf and Centaur, the old Snape and some other torsos from the Hobbit sets Finally, here are some of Thorin's company with medium legs. Thankfully all legs colours for the Dwarfs are available, these are the only ones I had to hand. I also gave Kili a better looking hair piece, although he could also do with an updated face. I hope to have some more soon, it would be great to see others work!

I have seen other versions of this inn and tavern submitted to LEGO ideas in the past, so I know there is interest out there in having this inn as a set. I hope to honor those previous submissions and see if we can reach 10K. The Prancing Pony is one of the most famous fantasy inns of literature and I would love to see this added as a set to the LEGO portfolio in the Lord of the Rings or castle genre. It is a very iconic medieval building. I would love you support if you would be willing to vote for this idea! Thank you!

Captain Pavay walks the local farmsteads with a few patrol troopers (both of whom forego the full stormtrooper facemask, per garrison policy). While the Pentastar Alignment is, at its core, an Imperial Remnant, there are many among its ranks who seek to create the Empire as it should have been: a strong government protective of its citizens, providing for a grateful populace with the strong arm of justice. No less authoritarian, but precise, intelligent, and benevolent, not cruel or wasteful. Pavay is one of these "visionaries," a term used distastefully by certain members of the cabinet. In the Legendary of Tolkien, Morgot created them in the First age to serve him. There capitals in Middle earth were: Mount Gundabad, Gobelin Town, Barad Dur and Orthanc __________________________ About the creation, i would like to create the face of an Orc in the aim of showing that with lego, we can build what we want. This is my recreation of Middle-Earth in the format of the Skyline Architecture Series. You can follow the journey of Frodo from the Shire to Mordor. Through Rivendell; The Mines of Moria; The Argonath; Helm's Deep; Minas Tirith towards The Black Gate of Mordor with Mount Doom the Barad-dûr and the Eye of Sauron. No, this is not a scene involving the stealing of Christmas gifts from 4 shameless. It's much worse! Frodo, Sam, Pippin and Merry are guilty of not having resisted the temptation to pick up roadside mushrooms. If, in addition, they are the famous mushrooms of Mr. Maggott, known throughout the Shire, it takes so little for them to go pick them. Normal, it's soon supper time. The rascals were caught in the act and are therefore legitimately run by the poor farmer, furious to be dispossessed. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Frodo had to leave the country without being spotted. I think it's missed for this time. The scene takes place in the east of the Shire, close to the Chateaubouc ferry, where spirits will pursue the young hobbits, but not for the same reason that poor Mr. Magott. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Here is a new scene I created from Middle-earth. I hope you'll like her. I point out that the houses of Hobbits in the East of the Shire, looks like Bree houses: stone. The houses in the Earth are located in the center of the country of the Shire. Hello! This is my seventh of 19 posts I will be doing, where I will be building my way through the Hobbit story, one chapter per post, I will do this over the course of the year... Here is my build of Beorn's House for my Hobbit Project! It took me 4 months of building (5 months total), is around 7,500 pieces and the maximum base size is 105 x 56. It was a ton of fun to build and I am pleased with the result. :) I was gonna bring this to BFAL, but that was 4 months ago. This is my first build of the year, and the first post that I actually built in time of having a flickr account. With this and one other build, I will be taking a break from my Hobbit Project for 2-3 months to build regular castle for a while. :) Some great inspiration came from builders like Patrick B and Simon NH for all the tools and animals on the ground. For the house itself, I got most of my inspiration from Weta Workshop's model, but I also looked closely at some of the great builds of Beorn's House by Dunedain98, Patrick B, and Caleb W's build for Caleb and Graeme's collab Hobbit Project which you should check out. :) Also, a huge thanks to the guys who helped me with all 20 WIPs I sent throughout the building process! :) I hope you enjoy! Hello! Here is a scene I built of a small town section of bree! This is my 6th and final CCC entry! It will be in the village life category! So, about the build, it is on a 35 x 35 base with a stud overhang on two sides, so it fits in 36 x 36. :) I estimate it being around 2000 pieces that are used in this. :) I had fun experimenting with a bunch of wacky angles, and I like the sagging feel that I got. It was a lot of fun to build, so I hope you enjoy! :D Pics: Mainly inspired by Legonardo and The Maestro's excellent builds. :) Unfortunately, because I had to finish this tonight, the lighting didn't turn out too great, but thanks to Classical Bricks, the edit still turned out great for the main pic, but the other two are kind of lacking. Hello! This is my ninth of 19 posts I will be doing, where I will be building my way through the Hobbit story, one chapter per post, I will do this over the course of the year... This is also my fifth CCCXV entry! It will be in the ye olde switcheroo category! So, about the build. I did skip a few chapters, but I wanted to build this for the CCC, so here it is. :) The final build size is 48 x 46, so it just fit in the size limitations. :) This is my second to last build for the CCC, and unfortunately, I just don't have time to do Beorn's House now, but I will most likely bring it to BFAL. :) It was a lot of fun to build, so I hope you enjoy! :D Pics: Main inspiration is Graham Gidman's wonderful Barrels scene rendition! :) C&C Appreciated! Hello! Here I have built an 8 x 8 vig! Everything fits in the 8 x 8 base, except for about a stud on each side with the leaves, which is allowed. :) This is also my fourth CCCXV entry! Hello! This is my third of 19 posts I will be doing, where I will be building my way through the Hobbit story, one chapter per post, I will do this over the course of the year... This is also my second CCCXV entry! It will be in the fantasy fortress category! So, about the build. This build is actually a redo of this chapter, as I wasn't content with my previous attempt being up to the quality of the rest of the builds. So, this build's size is 46 x 26, and I would estimate I used around 2000 pieces. It was a lot of fun to build, so I hope you enjoy! :D Pics: Figless to show the floor pattern: So, I like this build, and it was really interesting to create, because I didn't use a single hinge anywhere in this build! :D Yeah, all of these round curves, and not a single hinge... :D So, that wasn't as much a challenge in the main rounded section of the build, but surprisingly, it was tough not to use something in the elvish rounded architecture at the back... :) Also, shoutout to Toltomeja's round path design, and Isaac and John Snyder's bench design that the dwarves are sitting on... :D C&C Appreciated! This is also my second CCCXV entry! It will be in the small misc. category! So, about the build. This build is actually a redo of this chapter, as I wasn't content with my previous attempt being up to the quality of the rest of the builds. So, this build's size is 31 x 27, and I would estimate around 1000 pieces. It was a lot of fun to build, and I finished it 2 weeks ago, but I am just now posting it. Hello! This is my sixth of 19 posts I will be doing, where I will be building my way through the Hobbit story, one chapter per post, I will do this over the course of the year... This is my first entry to the CCCXV, and It is for the diplomatic mission category. So, about the build. This one is at maximum 32 x 57 x 41, but the rockwork narrows down to 20 x 28 at the bottom. I estimate it is around 3500 pieces, and it weighs around 12 pounds! The landscape is kind of unusual for me, and it is a dark green and olive green. While most of it is just SNOT, and some SNOTed off of SNOT, there are a few angles pieces in there, which I am happy with. :P Enjoy! :D Pics: The light grey is for the required lighter colored background in entering the competition: WIP pics can be viewed here, feel free to drop a like and a comment. :) Overall, I am pretty happy with this build. Even though it took a quarter of my building time in the CCC, I think it is worth it for spending that amount of time on it. It is the most rockwork I have done in one build yet, and I like it, the Christmas BL order turned out useful! :D Also, I will be going for 7 entries this year (all of which will be Hobbit related), so be looking out for the rest! :D C&C Appreciated! Hello! Over the past two and a half months, I have been building this scene from LOTR in Hobbiton showing Sandyman's Watermill, The Brandywine Bridge, and the Brandywine River. It is irregular on one of the sides, it ends up to roughly be around 70 x 70 studs, and is my third largest build! As I have said before, this took me two and a half months of on and off building. Overall, I think I worked on it for around 75 hours... I estimate it used around 10000 pieces... Anyways, now for the exciting part: The bridge definitely took the longest to complete, and it was what I started the build doing. The arches took me a couple tries to find, but I ended up doing the illegal technique with headlight bricks connecting front to back to create a gentle curve that worked great here IMO. After figuring out the arches, I began looking at a couple different stonework techniques by great builders all over, I still couldn't find one that fit the look of the inspiration picture I was looking at, so I decided I would make up my own technique, as you can see it is just simple SNOTed tiles with gaps to give it a little dimension. Next I started to build the watermill itself and continued the same stonework style with it. I used the generic tudor style for the build, and put a straw roof on top, which proved quite difficult because of the angles. Next it was on to landscape, where I did your average landscaping, and then covered it with plant leaves like my previous Hobbiton build. Then on to the water, which is trans. clear over different shades of blue. I will be competing in the CCC this year, so expect some builds coming in a little quicker than usual. :) For the WIP journey, and a few more pictures click here: Link. Anyways, about the build, this is on a 30 x 30 or so base, and is about 1000 pieces! This is my third Lord of the Rings/Hobbit MOC and it is more of an artistic view on the famous shot of Bilbo's door in the Hobbit. This is not an exact re-creation identical to the movies but I still really like it and the scale is really nice. I wish I could finish the whole house but like most of my MOCS, I just don't have the parts. I hope you enjoy my idea of The door to Hobbiton.

Hello! This is my entry for Round 3 of the Middle Earth Lego Olympics! My category was Ithilien, so I decided to build the fight between the oliphaunts and the rangers of Ithilien! Linky to MELO... :D So, onto the build: Again, no WIP pictures this time, as I just wanted to chug through this one without any advice... :D This build is roughly 70 x 60 at max with an irregular baseplate, the oliphaunts took around 5 days to build and the landscape took the other 3... (The first 2 days I was still scrambling for what to build...) So yeah, I really went out of my comfort zone for this one, I am not a pro at BBFs, but I really do like these, the heads are actually at a couple different angles off of each other, and the "nets" in the movie are out of lego capes... I hope the judges see that I went out of my comfort zone for this one... :D Anyways, I hope you enjoyed! This was a fun one! Good luck Classical! May the best Ithilien Ranger win! :D C&C Appreciated! Welcome! This is my entry to MELO, it is on a 50 x 30 ish base, and is about 1500 pieces, it is a build of Goblin Town... Enjoy!
