    Magic in the City

Hi everyone I'm putting together a series of photos using the new Harry Potter minifigures called "Magic in the City". It will have roughly 10 parts or photos to it and will be posted to my instagram over the next few weeks. The first one is here https://www.instagram.com/legoginge/ please have a look/like and follow if your interested in seeing the rest! Cheers Richard (legoginge)
  2. Hello everyone! Maybe someone know me already. I'm a fan of LEGO BrickHeadz, running my own blog with all the latest news and reviews. My BrickHeadz Reviews are in german language and not timelapsed / speed builded. Here is my Let's Build / Review for the LEGO BrickHeadz #41621 Ron Weasley & Albus Dumbledore Set. Enjoy!
  3. Long-time member, sometime speaker. I thought it was time to get more active in the AFOL community, so I've started a YouTube channel. The first batch of videos will consist of my reviews of the new Harry Potter sets and Collectable Minifigure Series. Please find the first video, a review of the polybag 30407: Harry's Journey to Hogwarts, below. I'll add more reviews as I make them. Apologies for the varying picture quality. It's my first try! And I'm thinking: I should probably include more close-ups of the actual LEGO next time... Still, I hope this proves useful and/or entertaining to you. Thanks!
  4. Hi all. I've recently made some decals for some Harry Potter characters. Hope you all like them. Feel free to add anything to them if you want.
  5. Hi all! First of all sorry my bad English, not native speaker here. After seeing again all the Harry Potter movies and reading most of the books, I wanted to add some harry potter lego to my colecction. I then realised why I don't have any of the Hogwarts castle Sets, I think theyre all awful. The are incomplete, they only include rooms from one movie, and if you buy more than one, you get to have repeated minifigures and rooms. So I wanted to make my own version of it, considering a UCS version playset, something like the Death Star con Star Wars theme, but bigger. I set myself some goals: - Include all the rooms that appear in more than one film (Chamber of secrets, great hall, entrance, dumbledore's office, each house bedrooms and common room, and many more) - include small side-sets like Hagrid's Hut or the herbology class - It has to be modular, and it has to be openable to play inside. - Most of the rooms have to be closed by wall, so set can be displayed. After two hours of prototyping and trying some structures, this is the first thing that I have: The room on the left is the Great hall. On the right, there will be the library and Dumbledore's army Headquarters. Both basements can be opened. One will be the Chamber of secrets, and the other will be potion's class, as well as some rooms from the Philosopher's stone (I don't think I got the name right) The idea from now on is to grow the side modules one or two more fllors, to fit there the common and bedrooms, Umbridge's desktop and Dumbledore's office. There is room for a rear module, in which there will be The astronomy tower, or maybe other iconic location I can't think of now. Once the build is complete I will release the .lxt file and I will try to get instructions in PDF and parts list in xml, but I simply don't know what software to use. Thanks for reading!

Hello guys! I am a bit away from the forum right now for different reasons but I want to give my small contribution with this game. Here are the rules: you have to list 22 characters from Harry Potter. +1 point if the character is correct +2 points if the character is correct and wears the outfit you described. As usual, I go first. 1) Viktor Krum Goblet of Fire Outfit 2) Fleur Delacour, Goblet of Fire Outfit 3) Hermione Granger, kid (probably with cat) 4) Hermione Granger, teenager 5) Ron Weasley, kid (probably with mouse) 6) Ron Weasley, teenager 7) Harry Potter , kid (probably with owl) 8) Harry Potter, teenager (all latest 6 in casual outfit, not in school uniform) 9) Draco Malfoy, kid, Slytherin Outfit 10) Neville Longbottom Gryffindor Outfit 11) Minerva McGonagall Witch Oufit 12) Dobby slave outfit 13) Griphook, elegant outfit 14) Fred Weasley casual outfit 15) Sirius Black, Order of the Phoenix Outfit 16) George Weasley casual outfit 17) Albus Dumbledore, White Heaven Outfit 18) Severus Snape 19) Luna Lovegood Ravenclaw outfit 20) Ginny Weasley Gryffindor Outfit 21) Petunia Dursley, normal outfit 22) Vernon Dursley normal outfit And this is my list. [MOC] Hogwarts Castle

Hi Eurobricks! Here is the Hogwarts Castle I made for Russian Fan Forum of Lego Moscow Festival "Builders’ Battle 2018" which was held on April 1st 2018 (this is not a joke). In 2001, when I was a little kid, I dreamt of 4709 Hogwarts Castle but could not get it because I preferred other sets such as 7163 Republic Gunship. As such, seventeen years later I made a Hogwarts MOC looking like an ultimate exclusive set from an alternate reality and combining best elements from 2001-2007 and 2010 Harry Potter sets. To overcome my bricks' limits, I took the layout of the Harry Potter theme park in Orlando. Therefore, my MOC consists of Great Hall, Grand Tower and Astronomy Tower combined with the Viaduct entrance hall: The Dementors and Hedwig fly over the castle's towers: The interior of the castle: The feast in Great Hall is full of different and tasty food: You can see floating candles, banners of the Houses and a house point-calculating machine. The entrance hall antechamber can be separated from the Great Hall: Hogwarts heraldry at the entrance: A suit of armor protects the castle, ready to be animated by the wizards: The Grand Tower is the tallest structure of Hogwarts: It includes the library, the Gryffindor common room and the Gryffindor dormitory: Harry is sneaking in the library with the help of Lumos and Marauder's Map while Ginny is drinking tea in the common room: Neville and his Remembrall: The lower floors: The dungeons and the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom which is currently used by McGonagall and Hermione for extra Transfiguration lessons: The dungeons contain the Slytherin common room and the Potions classroom: The second entrance hall, Dumbledore's office and the Divination classroom: The Astronomy Tower and the Owlery: - After all this time? - Always. During the Festival, Hogwarts was displayed on the City diorama alongside modular buildings, UFO and Ghostbusters' HQ: More photos can be seen in my Flickr album.

    [MOC] Hagrid's Hut

“Don’ you worry, Harry. You’ll learn fast enough. Everyone starts at the beginning at Hogwarts, you’ll be just fine. Just be yerself. I know it’s hard. Yeh’ve been singled out, an’ that’s always hard. But yeh’ll have a great time at Hogwarts — I did — still do, ’smatter of fact.” -Hagrid This was requested by my lovely girlfriend, who's a huge Harry Potter fan, so here's Hagrid's hut from the first and second HP films. A fun build to try new wall techniques for me, and the roof was a pain in the bum. Also RIP Millennium Falcon, your sacrifice is much appreciated... Interior: Thanks for looking!

    Hogwarts Castle

Hi everyone, The last months I have been busy. For the next Legoworld in the Netherlands we (me and my brother) want to show a large landscape with various locations and scenes of the Harry Potter series. I have created a castle a little bit based on books and/or films, but this is my version of the Hogwarts castle. In the castle there are various rooms and classrooms. The stairs in the staircase can move and are powered by Power Functions. Here is an overview of the castle. Here is a picture of the entrance and the big hall. Underneath the entrance are the living rooms of Slytherin and under the big hall is the magic potions classroom. Here is a picture of the entire staircase. For more pictures you can look into my Flickr album. Flickr album of Bricks and Trains The Flickr album shows more pictures of the event, where my castle was present. Feedback, comments and questions are welcome. Sander
  11. If you're following me on flickr you probably didn't get around seeing these - and you probably asked yourself once or twice if I lost my marbles. The past weeks I posted a series of vignettes following Harry's adventures in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - with an almost daily upload (and a break of almost 4 weeks) from beginning to end. I was inspired by Marcel / marcu44, whose series I was following up with. Now I'm parting ways with Harry and the following weeks Kevin / StarWarsKev will cover the third book. Its about time that I present my vignettes in one post - there are 30 in total. One thing upfront: Some of the vignettes only work thanks to a little wizardry in the photoshop department. If you're offended by that - well.. your loss I only used this tool in a few exceptions and if you know me you should actually be used to it by now I didn't quote half of the book like I did over on flickr. Thats just too much - but if you haven't done so I recommend that you read the Harry Potter novels or watch the movies. And now... Off to Hogwarts! #001 - Dobby's Warning #002 - Petunia's Masterpiece #003 - The Burrow #004 - Breakfast and Letters #005 - Floo Powder #006 - Borgin and Burkes #007 - Flourish and Blotts #008 - King's Cross #009 - Flying to Hogwarts #010 - Snape's Office #011 - The Howler #012 - Mandrakes #013 - Pixie Pandemonium #014 - Eat Slugs! #015 - Mrs Norris #016 - The Rogue Bludger #017 - The Polyjuice Potion #018 - The Duelling Club #019 - Fawkes #020 - The Slytherin Common Room #021 - The Polyjuice Potion, Pt. 2 #022 - Tom Riddle's Diary #023 - Spiders, Spiders #024 - Heading off #025 - In the tunnels #026 - Revelations #027 - The Basilisk #028 - It's over #029 - Choices #030 - Freedom And this concludes Harry's second adventure. Many thanks if you paid attention until now. Many thanks also to those that supported me with their feedback during the past weeks - without you I would probably given up sooner or later Do you have a favourite scene? Here are all of them one last time next to each other: With magical regards Markus

    MOC: Sirius Black

Hi everyone, I participated on a contest of LowLUG. The contest was to build something what has something to do with: in fire and flame. Maximum 16 x 16 studs and 20 bricks high. The third and last build was Sirius Black. I wanted to create the face of Sirius Black in the fire. I had the printed tile as example for the shape, but the colors of the printed tile were terrible. I used a lot of spike (?) parts for the hair, but it felt incomplete and I had no idea to change it. For more pictures see my Flickr album Sirius Black. Questions and feedback are welcome. Sander
  13. I figured today (or rather yesterday) was a good day to post this since it is (was) September the first, or as J.k. Rowling calls(ed) it, "Return to Hogwarts" day! Wow, Harry Potter has really made a huge re-resurgence in the last few months. Then again, with that new movie and the books coming out, I figure why not join the hype. Anyway, I showed a sneak preview earlier this year, and this is the finished product. I'm pretty happy with it. Probably may change a few things here and there. The scene depicts the trio of young wizards escaping the Wizarding bank Gringotts ( ) and continuing their dangerous quest to hunt down the horcruxes and defeat the darkest wizard of all, Lord Voldemort! The most exciting part is, of course, the Ukrainian Ironbelly, a dragon I am especially fond of. A big thank you to Marcel for helping me with the building and an even bigger one to Markus for helping with the photo-editing. Logo from here. Harry Potter, Gringotts, Ukrainian Ironbelly and all related names, images, etc. are property of J.K. Rowling and Warner Brothers Studios. .... and of course thank you J.K. Rowling for creating such a wonderful series of stories! I didn't like the photo of the other side that shows Hermione wearing the Bellatrix disguise. I highly recommend you check out the video by Beyond the Brick here for more. Thanks to the amazing folks at BTB! .... and here's the sneak peek shot from earlier this year: Please be sure to check it out on Flickr when you have a chance!

    Fawkes Box MOC

Came across my Chocolate Frog box and wanted to create something similar out of Lego. Instead of containing a chocolate frog it has Fawkes inside, hence the Fawkes box. The Nexo shields work to create a domed pentagon shape. I used custom stickers to get the colours mostly right. 15. (Note to mods: please leave this in the train tech forum, as it is be Harry Potter related, but it is more of a train build than anything else. Thanks in advance!) Since the rumor is that Harry Potter is coming back this summer, but without the Hogwarts Express. I thus made my own, but we will see if it gets built in real bricks by summer..... HP universe / Film History: Leaving from Kings Cross' Platform 9 & 3/4 to Hogsmeade Station at exactly 9 AM, the Hogwarts Express carries students (and sometimes faculty) to and from Hogwarts' School of Witchcraft & Wizardry in the Harry Potter series of books and movies. It has been seen in every Harry Potter film, from it's first appearance in the beginning of Philosophers Stone to it's last at the end of Deathly Hallows. (part two) The Hogwarts Express is usually only in the film for a short while, and it is generally a pleasant journey from Kings Cross to Hogsmeade, although Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and a certain Flying Ford Anglia might beg to differ! The Hogwarts Express is usually made up of four corridor passenger coaches, although sometimes a special fifth coach is attached with an open floor plan. The train is supplied with all kinds of goodies and sweets, from Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans to Chocolate Frogs. The locomotive is a heavily modified version of LDDModelmaker's Black 5 model with some parts from set 79111, Constitution Train Chase. The tender features a three wheeled bogie design modified from the one in Anthony Sava's ALCO MRS-1. The middle axle moves side to side, as to allow going through switches and curves without issue. The numbers 5 9 7 2 go on the sides of the tender... it's not prototypical, I know, but it works well enough. Also, The boiler is a modified version of set 79111's Constitution steam engine. In this false-color image, the red parts slide, the blue ones stay put to allow for the loco to go around curves and switches. (BTW: There are parts underneath that keep the sliding bogie from falling out.) The train is currently made up of five cars that are slightly different than the actual British Railway MK I coaches used in the films. The Hogwarts Express is usually made up of four corridor passenger coaches, although sometimes a special fifth coach is attached with an open floor plan. Also, the end car is not accurate to the films, but is what I prefer to the alternative: a gangway leading nowhere with no red light on the end. the baggage / coach car (known as a combine) three regular coaches guard coach This was made by me in Microsoft Paint sometime in 2014, and was based off a image from a Google search of the Hogwarts Railways logo. EDITED 7/4/2017 to bring up to date with new pictures and ldd file. Model to be built in real life sometime around Christmas 2017. EDITED 1/19/18: Since the rumor is that Harry Potter is coming back this summer, but without the Hogwarts Express. I thus made my own, but we will see if it gets built in real bricks by summer..... Any questions, thoughts, or complaints are welcome!
  16. Updating an old post. All items are MISB and prices have been taken from Bricklink. Price does not include shipping. HOWEVER, for those buyers who are willing to allow me to unbox the sets so that shipping is not nearly so expensive (I'm not a professional seller, it's impossible to ship the large sets for cheap) - I would be very happy to discount the price to reflect that they are no longer MISB, but complete. Also willing to negotiate for those looking to purchase multiple items. For Sale: 10237 Tower of Orthanc $229.00 79031 Lake Town Chase $69.99 10211 Modular Grand Emporium $250.00 10217 Harry Potter Diagon Alley $350.00 10193 Medieval Market Village $165.00 Elves: 41071 Aira's Creative Workshop $11.00 41072 Nadia's Spa Secret $50.00 40173: Nadia's Epic Adventure Ship $23.00 41074: Azari and Magical Bakery $45.00 41075: The Elve's treetop hideaway $49.99 41076: Farran and the Crystal Hollow $11.00 41052 Ariel's Magical Kiss $40.00 Not everything I have to sell, but what I'd like to start with.

    Hogwarts entrance hall

Hi everyone, While everyone is waiting for potential new Lego Harry Potter sets, I've been building something. I got inspired by playing the older Harry Potter video games on my PC, so I decided to build the Hogwarts entrance hall with my own twist on it. I hope you all like. See more on my Flickr page: https://www.flickr.com/photos/58775895@N08/albums/72157686166757211/with/37174700496/

    [MOC] Grindelwald's death

Grindelwald's death by Argos Green, on Flickr Several years ago I thought of making that small scene from the seventh book where Voldemort tries to find the Elder Wand. However, I've managed to make it only this week. I love the way two dark magicians from different times finally met each other. Unfortunately, the older was killed by the younger. Grindelwald was weak enogh, but his words made Voldemort very angry. He didn't have any wand then! I am aware that my version of Grindelwald doesn't look like the version from the movie and it certainly has nothing to do with old Johnny Depp) Take a look at the tower I built to create the part of the prison where Grindelwald was imprisoned for fifty years. Other photos you can see in the spoiler. Thank you for your attention.
  19. Over the last year or so I have been trying to improve my Lego building skills. I love all kinds of Lego, but I'm pretty much obsessed with Harry Potter Lego. I can't get enough of it! I'm always building and this is my latest MOC. It's part of a much bigger model, but I really think it stands up well by itself. Introducing. King's Cross Station: I've really wanted this to be a playable/functional set, but with lots of details. Here are some close ups so you can have a proper look: Hope you enjoy it and please if you have any tips/feedback on my builds let me know. "The road to success is constantly under construction......with Lego bricks"
  20. I'm hoping for some help regarding the torso on the Lucius Malfoy minifig (HP104) from sets 4736 Freeing Dobby and 2 others. The torso is black with brown accents, but someone is claiming a torso variation, which shows the reversed head with the death eater mask and a hood, has the same torso but with red accents. HP120 shows as a minifig when you search google (it shows as the death eater version), but also shows as not appearing in any sets. I personally think it's just the exposure of the photo, as the black legs and torso are shinier, more reflective of light than the usual photos of the Lucius Malfoy minifig, causing the brown to show more as red than it is. I also believe that HP120 is merely a designation for the HP104 with the head flipped and a hood. I've attached photos in question, showing the same minifig at two different exposures. These are the same, right? Thanks.

    Niffler

As I seem to have entered a cute period of building, I decided to make a niffler from the "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" movie. 22. My 9 year old son started reading Harry potter when school got out in May, and knowing that we were heading to Brickfair Virginia in August, wanted to build a Quidditch scene based on the second movie together. Many Bricklink orders later and countless hours studying screenshots from the movie and our finished product was displayed this past weekend. Below are some pics that I currently have, I took most before I left, I will probably set up again and photograph more detail, once I am unpacked. The Quidditch arena is almost 7.5 feet long, has 16 accurate towers as seen in the second movie with seating at the top, a passage way to move between stands and a stairwell to climb up to the stands and towers. I tried to capture the feeling from the movie in the stands, that are made with wood and have the House colours draped over the front, with you being able to see through to the bottom of the stands. The Quidditch rings are identical to the movies as much as I could achieve. I could not source a white flexible hose in the right length for the wrings, so I purchased black ones and then spray painted with regular primer and then scratched at them to give an attempt at a worn look. There are probably over 200 school children in authentic Gryffindor and Slytherin Lego minifigures (Capes are being added as I type for the next round of photographs). Most of the school teachers are present in the stands. There is a full compliment of 7 Gryffindor and 7 Slytherin Lego Quiddich players and an additional 7 custom Hufflepuff and 7 Custom Ravenclaw Quidditch Players. The field is striped with both regular green and bright green plates and tiles (bright green is pretty scarce). We have many other activities going on in the stands and outside too, with Cheerleaders, an appearance from Willy Wonker and Hermonie dropping all of her books. I hope you enjoy, thanks for taking the time to look. Cheers. Harry Potter Quidditch arena. Based mainly on the 2nd H.P movie we have accurately recreated one of the most iconic pop culture sporting arenas of all time. 25. This is MOC of December 2012. I built my first vignette for a Magic World of Harry Potter Contest on DoubleBrick.ru and it took 9th place with 15 votes. The contest task were to illustrate one scene from HP book and the base of vignette should be no more than 16x16. At that moment I had only four HP minifigures (Harry, Draco, Snape and Bellatrix) so I decided to made something more interesting than just a Potions lesson. “I only came out because Mary told me you were threatening to sleep here.” “I was. I would have done. I never meant to call you Mudblood, it just—” “Slipped out?” There was no pity in Lily’s voice. “It’s too late. I’ve made excuses for you for years. None of my friends can understand why I even talk to you. You and your precious little Death Eater friends—you see, you don’t even deny it! You don’t even deny that’s what you’re all aiming to be! You can’t wait to join You-Know-Who, can you?” He opened his mouth, but closed it without speaking. “I can’t pretend anymore. You’ve chosen your way, I’ve chosen mine.” “No—listen, I didn’t mean—” “—to call me Mudblood? But you call everyone of my birth Mudblood, Severus. Why should I be any different?” He struggled on the verge of speech, but with a contemptuous look she turned and climbed back through the portrait hole… © J. K.
