    [O-H04] Return to Crofter's ridge

Title: Return to Crofter's ridge Tags: Civil, Building, vehicle, land vehicle So Illustria ended up to be nothing more then a giant fishing trip, with the engineering division starting to get new processes in place, it was time to get the mobile mining group together and moving. [O - H04] - Field Work

Location: H04 Crofter's Ridge Tags: Land Vehicle Previously... // PERSONAL DIARY // ED-208 and I visited one of our geological study sites on Crofter's Ridge. They had been studying some weird mineral deposits and I thought it best to personally check it out. Dr. Allison was back at the lab taking a look at the samples with a team as we wanted to try and figure out if this was potentially beneficial to Octan. Luckily my robot dog that Dr. Allison had named "Gidget" joined us. ED-208 continued to insist something was odd about Gidget, but I told him it was just a robot pet and was harmless. When we arrived at the site the crew there was quite happy to show us what they had been doing and their recent discoveries. I find geology pretty boring, I mean who cares about rocks, but I certainly respect the amount of passion they have for their chosen field. Even Gidget seemed very interested in the work being done. She stayed near us the whole time, they really have these robot dogs figured out! I can't help but feel like something weird is going on here. Between the weird lab and the anomalous mineral deposits it just seems ... odd. I'm hoping that once I check in with Dr. Allison that she has made some progress to help explain some of this! Planet: H04 Crofter's ridge tags: Fleet bonus, Octan, H04, engineering So last we checked in on Bruno, he was on H04 (Crofter's ridge in search of JS whom has been missing for some time. He came across an old building within the mountains, and has com across something odd...a large door with red lights...something you don't see in something that is considered ancient... [O - H04] The Lab - Pt3

Oops, sorry this is part 3 not part 2. I forgot about the first episode. Location: H04 Crofter's Ridge Tags: Civil Building Previously... // PERSONAL DIARY // As we moved into the lower levels it was clear that no one was there. Given how clean everything was you couldn't guess at how long ago it had been since someone had been there either. Air filtration would keep the dust out, so it could have been quite some time or earlier in the day that anyone had set eyes on this lab. When we reached the end we came to a large storage area. There were crates and tanks for liquids that would be used in other parts of the lab. I was surprised by how much they had of some of the chemicals. Many of them were commonly used ones, but the amount present could keep a lab running for years. And apart from the chemicals being highly volatile I couldn't come up with what the combination of the specific choices would be used for. Nothing here made sense and so little of the equipment we found was anything I recognized. I told the team that we clearly needed to get a whole scientific team here as quickly as possible. The Major, however, said that we needed to ex-filtrate and use Penta-Thermite on the whole place. I was shocked, we had a lab with an unknown purpose and no one here, but they wanted to blow it up! I said that we couldn't, but he said his orders were to do just that. Asking who had ordered such a thing only got the response: "I was ordered not to tell you." Since he was technically a contractor and not an Octan employee I had no real leverage over him. He also said that it only made sense to "burn the place white hot" in case there was anything dangerous here. He sarcastically offered I could stay behind as he and the others set the charges. Despite my feelings I had little choice and we left the lab behind. I asked if we would observe from above to see that the charges went off but he insisted his stuff always works. Oddly, I noted later that no seismic activity was detected and no abnormal temperature readings were noticed on planet either. I suspect either our sensors aren't properly calibrated or a data problem. The Major said that "a team" had verified the destruction. This whole episode has left me with nothing but questions but due to security around the mission I can't even discuss anything about it with anyone, including the team I went with. The Major and his team left for another assignment and so here I am alone with my thoughts. I'll have to be careful that I don't compromise security, but I do want to find out whether our data is flawed or the sensors on planet aren't working. I wish I had been able to spend a bit more time in the lab to have a chance to look around more. Even going back to the site would be a security protocol breach though, according to the team. 5. Planet: H04 Crofter's Ridge Tags: Fleet Bonus, Civil, H04, Octan It has been months since with last touch base with JS Smith and his engineering crew, in that time JS has been set on a task to find a vane of awesomnium to get a new minning out post set up for the company...but has not returned, and all communication has seemed to have vanished. [O - H04] The Lab - Pt1

Location: H04 Crofter's Ridge Tags: Land Vehicle, Civil Building Previously... // PERSONAL DIARY // The Major came to see me and said that my expertise was needed for a very important mission that he and his team were undertaking. I asked him what I could help with and he said that they needed me to go with them to a lab on Crofter's Ridge. I wasn't sure which lab he was referring to and he said it "wasn't one you have heard of." I explained that I was a senior executive and one of the top scientists, so I knew about all the labs and he just said "not this one." I was a bit nervous at this, particularly knowing The Major's line of work, but he told me that good leaders "lead from the front, not behind a desk!" I certainly want to be a good leader! As we boarded the shuttle to head down to the planet's surface I couldn't help but notice that all the other team members wore heavy armor and had plenty of weapons. I asked The Major about my own armor and weaponry and he replied that we didn't know what sort of situation we were heading into and that it would be safer for me if whatever was down there thought of me as a civilian instead of a warrior. It did sort of make sense so I agreed. Once on planet we went down an elevator with The Major's team armed and ready to roll and with me driving a small utility vehicle with tools. Once we reached the floor The Major's team went about securing the area. Which proved unnecessary since there was nothing there. Apparently we were in a kind of outer zone and one of the warriors named Cheyenne (though everyone called her Cyborg) worked at bypassing the security systems to permit us entry to the inner area. I'm not quite sure what happened to her that caused her to have the cybernetic implants, but she clearly wasn't comfortable talking about it. Even after I had asked her and she said it was from "a faraway place she would never go back to." And when I asked her where and why not she just shook her head and stayed quiet. I have to admit it was a bit creepy being in there. There was no real sign of anyone having been there and it was not very well lit. It was eerily quiet, and though the filtration system in my helmet prevented me from smelling anything, the readout showed the air was abnormally clean. I could sense a tension among the soldiers, though The Major did his utmost to hide it. I wanted to point out again that I was an executive now and that it seemed like maybe not ideal to have me along, but I knew it was too late for that argument. They needed my scientific expertise to investigate a lab that was so top secret even I didn't know about it. Extra Pics:

    [O - H04] Remote outpost

Location: H04 - Crofter's Ridge Tags: civil, building, exploration Terrain: Mountains Start of transmission #03. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- While most of Octan explorers were traveling to Xerillian, I've spend the week establishing small supply platform on Crofter's Ridge... “It’s a calm and safe place” – they told me. “Just be sure that you don’t touch anything on the ground, or don’t travel away from the platform, or don’t forget to carry a proper weapon…” and lots of other “don’t’s”. If course I did it all wrong. Just as the platform was installed, I've climbed down to check the nearby territory. And to make the usual picture, of course, (hopefully, I'll be able to do these in color soon, but for now b/w is a sole option). All in all, I've barely managed back alive and in one piece. No questions now, why the alien live status is stated as "intense" here. I can surely confirm that... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- End of transmission #03. The build:
