  1. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/96035 This is my latest/last LOTR Grey Havens project before presenting the humongous set that joins all previous ones. Description: Mithlond or the Gray Havens The Grey Havens was founded at the beginning of the Second Age by the surviving Elves of Beleriand, those who chose to remain on Middle-earth after the wars against Morgoth. It was afterwards used by the Elves to leave Middle-earth for Valinor. The Grey Havens was part of Lindon, the kingdom directly ruled by Gil-galad, last High King of the Ñoldor in Middle-earth. It was also one of the main sources for the Elven fleet of ships that sailed back and forth between Númenor and Eldamar in Aman. According to the map of Middle-earth Grey Havens's anchorage is divided into the Harlond (the "south-haven") and the Forlond ("north-haven") which occupy the southern and northern banks, respectively, of the River Lune. Because of its cultural and spiritual importance to the Elves, the Grey Havens in time became the primary Elven settlement west of the Misty Mountains prior to the establishment of Eregion and, later, Rivendell. Even after the death of Gil-galad and as the Elves dwindled in numbers by the year, The Grey Havens remained a focal point of the history in the northern part of Middle-earth. Third Age and beyondCírdan the Shipwright was the master of the Havens since its founding; Galdor of the Havens, his messenger, was among the Grey Haven's known inhabitants. Aside from Elves, Bilbo Baggins and Frodo Baggins also went to Valinor from the Grey Havens, and a family tradition held that Sam Gamgee (having been himself a Ring-bearer, albeit briefly) did likewise, in the year 1484 of the Shire Reckoning. (Fourth Age 61) The Grey Havens still existed into the Fourth Age under Círdan but its population declined as did the elven presence in Middle-earth. It is unclear just what the Fate of the Elves of Middle-earth was in the early Fourth Age and how long Círdan or his remaining folk dwelled at the Havens and continued to build the great ships that carried the Elves to the Blessed Realm. The set: Basically I decided to portray in several mosaics the voyage of the elves to the grey havens - showing the ships sailing in sunny days, through storms, into the sunset, etc... The gate is a very tall one but it is firmly put together with the use of several plates along. And as usual I've used several motifs from my interpretation of Beleriand Architecture If you missed the previous projects you can check them out here: - https://ideas.lego.com/projects/51716 - https://ideas.lego.com/projects/84919 - https://ideas.lego.com/projects/88866 - https://ideas.lego.com/projects/96032
  2. Not sure if I'm posting this in the right section... Although I signed up to Eurobricks ages ago, I never really posted anything up here. it's quite historical (although parts of it are still medieval, it is set in the 18th century). It doesn't really fit in the "LEGO historic themes" section in my opinion. It's not a pirate mod either, since it's based on a real building and I'm pretty sure Dordt never had a pirate harbor :-) So I put this into town, but if I'm wrong, please put it on the right spot :-) Groothoofdspoort, Dordrecht Some time ago my colleagues in Dordrecht asked me if I could build something from their city. They offered me a challenge to recreate one of Dordt's landmarks: the Groothoofdspoort (one of the two remaining city gates). It is located at the river Beneden Merwede, at the point where it continues as river Noord and river Oude Maas. It was built in the late medievals, but altered in 1618 (facades), 1692 (dome) and 18th century (rococo ornate gate at the river side). The house between the harbor entrance and the gate were built in the early 17th century after narrowing the harbor entrance. The house at the other side of the gate was built with it's back leaning against the city wall. Since the current setting (2014) isn't my favorite one with a big grey hotel at one side of the gate, I started searching for historic pictures in the city's archives and found several ones from the 18th century showing some Dutch renaissance facades and a nice kitchen annex with columns instead of the hotel. The street plan was taken from the first proper cadastral map from 1830, still showing the 18th century situation. Most fun was recreating the diagonal parts in the building lines. Only three buildings have square floor plans. One of the houses got only one 90 degree angle. pj_bosman 2014-05-11 Groothoofdspoort reference pictures 7662 by patrick_bosman, on Flickr pj_bosman 2014-05-11 Groothoofdspoort 7551 by patrick_bosman, on Flickr More pictures here Thanks for reading :-)

    Daydelon Wall

My build for Phase 2 of the Wall category in AoM. I experimented with using only SNOT tiles for the wall texturing and making a machicolation (the 'false' tower). As Daydelon grew, the wooden palisade was taken down and replaced by a stone wall with wooden walkways. More houses were built and many farms were started just outside the town: All C&C appreciated

  6. To the Edge of the Realm This MOC and story is part of the "Lands of Roawia" Project. After a long and painful campaign the forces of Queen Galainir have been vanquished and the realm of Lenfald is safe again. Few survived the slaughter, and those who did either vanished in the woods never to be heard of again or are running for their lives, trying to reach the coast or the grasslands of Loreos. The hunting dogs discovered a small group of soldiers foolishly trying to reach Loreos via the south-road, and Lord Val Karem himself, still not fully recovered from his wounds, decides to pursue them only to the border and let the Loreesi deserts deal with any (un)lucky survivors. One by one he picked them off with his bow, only one reached the border marker before he fell victim to the Lenfel arrows. "We will leave him for the Loreesi to deal with - they need the practice" the Lord said while unstringing his bow and slowly climbing down from his outlook. "We head back north - there is still much to do" -- More images from different angles on Flickr
  7. the Gate of Amenor hides the Headquarters of the I.A.M.S. . It is called the Gate of Amenor as it also serves as the Amenorian Embassy in Kaliphlin. That's also the reason why it has the black & gold combination in it. The library has the typically white/tan combination. Inside the library, there are hundreds of books, varying from cooking books to epic story tellers. Those who want to read and have an amazing view of the bay, can sit on the balcony at the upper floor. There are 3 cameo's (Gideon, Synbiote & my sigfig). The Gate of Dunholm

Hello folks Here comes the newest stuff build by THE BRICK TIME building yard. It is the Gate of Dunholm. As you can see the door is flanked by two massive towers. And the the door-wings are armored with strong wood and metal. I just wanted to mix an ancient roman style with parts of medical town and castles. So the gate fits in the whole scene of Dunholm. Lets have look: Overview - Closed door and some guards on the battlement. Some peasants making some "Wusel" around the gate. And you can see some details here. If you like to learn more about the Gate of Dunholm and the Northland check up THE BRICK TIME or our FlickR gallery. Best regards BoB
  9. INTRO Hello LEGO fans. This will be my first review. I learned a few things from it so my subsequent ones should be better. I also found there is a review of this set already. I didn't read it past the first photo as I didn't want to unintentionally copy it. Another note, pictures were taken at night. The flash was leaving too much spots, so I decided to go by lamp only. I am fairly busy during the day, but I'll try to get my next reviews with better photos. I also don't separate the parts by colour or similarity, but I did for this review as it may be easier to see what's inside. There is also a catalog at the end of the booklet. Link to pictures in Flickr for slightly higher resolution SET INFORMATION LEGO Architecture, Landmark Series, 21011 Brandenburg Gate 362 pieces $34.95 retail model 22.4cm x 9.2cm (8.8in x 3.6in) Front Back Bottom Signature from the designer printed THE PARTS Box opened Booklet cover Booklet history information first pages Parts in assorted bags Parts sorted (for review clarity, I don't usually sort) BUILDING THE SET The instructions were easy to follow. Below are some random pages: And some of the building progress: Extra parts, among them a label in English. FINAL PRODUCT Completed front Completed back IMPRESSIONS - The instruction booklet was of high quality paper, unlike the regular LEGO sets. It also had a nice history in the beginning and history snippets throughout the pages. At the end there was information about the designer. - The parts had less variety and neutral colours. This opens up possibilities for different building projects. The set also looks geared for a more mature audience due to the colouring. - The price is higher and I don't think the better booklet justifies it. For comparison, the 70~ piece sets were $20 and regular LEGO goes for as low as $11 for the same piece count. - The set is still targeted at teenagers, however, it doesn't exactly look like a toy so it can be a nice room ornament as well. RATING Building: 9/10 Playability/Reusability: 10/10 Appearance: 10/10 Value for cost: 6/10 Quality: 10/10
