Location: H08 - Sinden's Run Tags: Vehicle, Land Vehicle, Spaceship, Exploration, AG, Octan ++Pombe, personal log, start recording++ I have just returned from an extensive and exhausting meeting with one of Kawashita's sales and marketing teams on Jurin II, where we spent the entire time debriefing one another. As tired as I was, however, I wanted to meet with Eshey to go over what she has accomplished while I was away. Ava Gato, the Kawashita inter-corporation relations officer, was also on hand, apparently having accompanied Eshey on her assignments. Ava spent the meeting emphasizing how difficult Eshey was to work with, using the word "hard" several times to describe my apprentice. I can't help but agree with her, given Eshey's penchant to suspect that every living thing she encounters on her assignments to be dangerous. I will consult with Big Z on how to help Eshey deal with her issues. Unfortunately for us, Ava was being called back by her superiors. She wished us well and headed back to Kawashita space in her personal starfighter. Eshey and I met with Big Z to see what his solution to Eshey's problem was. His solution was as elegant as it was brilliant. He's always someone I can count on when I need help or advice. He came up with a personal exploration vehicle that uses chemicals that when combined can be used to cryogenically freeze living things. Dr. Long won't have much to complain about much longer! I decided to send Eshey to H08, or Sinden's Run, an asteroid belt rich with awesomnium, for her next assignment and to test Big Z's new vehicle. I would have liked to join her, but I was barely able to walk from all the debriefing I did with Kawashita's sales and marketing team, so I decided to stay aboard the Axle to recuperate. Her report from Sinden's Run indicated that she landed and explored one of the larger asteroids, and was successful in finding awesomnium. Additionally, she encountered little rock like aliens, which when she instinctively pulled the trigger on her weapon, were frozen instead of obliterated, unlike in her past assignments. Planet: C04 Aeristus Tags: Exploration Commander Turtle uncovered some curiously human ruins on his last mission. He has been recalled for a formal debriefing on Orinshi, while his team are left testing the drones on Aeristus. You're right, this isn't too difficult. Careful there, if you go too fast it might overheat. Oh no! What did I just tell you? You've got to be more careful! Okay, we might need to start over. When do you think C-T will get back? ~~~~ Meanwhile, a train brings Commander Turtle to the Kawashita Group HQ. He has been ordered to meet the mysterious "E", a Vice Admiral and the head of the Exploration division. Vice Admiral, it is an honour to finally meet you. I take it you are Commander John Turtle. Yes, ma'am. Then the pleasure is mine. I have heard many things about you, some of them positive. I hear you captured a fearsome alien, and rescued one of our scientists from certain death. Most importantly, I hear you have absolutely not discovered anything suspicious on Aeristus. Am I correct? Well, mostly. I wanted to speak about Aeristus- Commander John Turtle, I will not have you spread misinformation and half-truths. Kawashita will not pursue your spurious claims, and you will not lie to me. ...Of course. You are at a crossroads. If you play your cards right, you will go far in this company. And for this, I need your loyalty. Are capable of loyalty? I am. Then we will hear no more about this. ~~~~ So, obviously getting thicker into my story. It might come and go a little since I'm getting very busy until September, but I'll do part 3 and on when I get the chance. Maybe once all the challenge building is done I'll have time to do the next part justice! This one started with the microbuild. Featuring an illegal-but-technically-purist build in the train, because the end cap is held on by stickers to the piece of resistance. I think that whole thing came out pretty well. Location: B07 - Vollfort Tags: Vehicle, Land Vehicle, Exploration, Driver Ender, Hiro, and Jack were exploring the surface of Vollfort, looking for a good place to set up camp. The surface had once been home to massive lava flows, but was now a dry, dusty surface. When Ender's sister Valentine had shown him the vehicle she had designed she had told him it was called The Pumba. It was some obscure reference to ancient pop-culture. Something about the truck moving like a warthog across the desert plains. It was a good thing The Pumba was built with heavy-duty shocks. While the surface of the planet was coated in sand, there were still many volcanic rocks lying just under the surface on this part of the planet. It made for a somewhat bumpy ride. Location: E09 - Castral Tags: civil, land/water vehicle, exploration Terrain: Grass plains, Mountains Start of transmission #09. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- I was discharged. Dr. Long's vote was the decisive one, and now I'm finally able to continue my travels across Andromeda. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- The board, however, decided that I should stay away from "active" sectors for a while, and sent me to Castral - a remote world on outer borders of Octan Corporation sector. I've never been this far "South" before. The task is to deliver some goods and equipment to Jebadiah Douglass, who is exploring Castral's flora and fauna for four weeks already. I certainly hope he'll be happy to receive these. Location: C04 Aeristus Tags: Exploration Mission Log: Entry 11 ~ That new shuttle that Narbilu gave me is absolutely wonderful! Within minutes of my deployment, I was able to locate the stolen shuttle using the advanced tracking devices aboard the Mk.VI. It was apparently situated on a planet known as Aeristus. I headed there as fast as I could, determined to find the thief and bring him into custody. However, when I arrived on Aeristus, I found that its surface was covered in dense foliage and trees, making it impossible for the shuttle to land without getting trapped between the trunks. I therefore turned to my secondary mode of transport. Leaving my robot co-pilot to pilot the shuttle, I pressed the big red button which deployed one of Kawashita's newest inventions, the hoverboard. As long as I kept my balance, I'd be fine! (easier said than done!) Now to locate that pesky alien.... Figless: [ C&C appreciated! ]

Location: A04 - Mynderis Tags: MANTIS, Exploration AG: A New Weapon by David FNJ, on Flickr Double D's Log 9: I have finally left Lesser Drigo (for now), but at least I was able to come back with a friend. I haven't named it yet, but I'll think of something. Right now I'm headed towards a very hot spot of a volcano to see if I can spot ultramafic lava and then harvest some of it to make a new kind of personal weapon... ...a saber that gets its source from the ultramafic lava. I'll have to come up with a name for the saber too... ~DD out -------------------------------------------------------- This was a fun quick build! I like how the rocks came out and the angles they have. The lighting on this one was fun to do - no editing at all, even to get the orange-reddish color. I also experimented with putting some black tiles underneath the lava to give it a small change in color. The spoiler shows normal lighting and close-ups on the rocks and the hovering device that will store the ultramafic lava once Double D finds some.

Location: C04-Aeristus Tags: Vehicle, Exploration Job: Explorer After getting the lava samples from Mynderis, I was sent to explore the plains of Aeristus, using my new C-1 speeder. It was a relief to see there weren't any ferocious aliens for once... They wanted me to analyze the dirt and plants there, so I got out some gizmos and gadgets from the back of my speeder and went to work. A few more shots of the build: More pics here: Link C&C welcome

Tags: Exploration. Location: A08 Crentium Mission Log: Entry 9 ~ No rest for the weary, eh? As soon as I'd finished the biomass extraction on Marphacia, I was sent to a new location which could not be more different from Marphacia in appearance. The entire surface of Crentium was a barren, rocky wasteland, with the occasional shrub or plant poking out from the surrounding sea of grey. For this mission, I was given a small exo-suit to protect me against the hostile atmosphere and environment. As I made my way across the planet in search of water, I noticed something odd. The rocks in front of me were a different shade of colour from those all around me, and they appeared to form some kind of symmetrical shape - too orderly to have occurred by chance. Of course, these rocks were centuries old, worn down by the elements and partially covered in dirt and grass. As I peered closer, I suddenly noticed a flash of bright green - and there, right in front of me, was an extra-terrestrial's face poking out of the archway. At first, I was shocked. I had been told that the alien activity on Crentium was "sparse", and hadn't expected to find one at all. My first proper alien! (Note: I do not count the monster I encountered on Lesser Direstan to be a proper alien ) I remembered my training and quickly levelled the exo-suit's arm (equipped with a laser gun) at the creature, in case it proved hostile. But it did not appear to be armed, and, after a quick glance at me, it sped off across the plain, faster than a human could move. I've sent high-definition photographs of the creature, taken using my helmet, to HQ back on Orinshi. It appears to be bipedal, roughly the same height as an average human, and lime-green in colour, with a tentacled face and long claws on its feet. I'll remain on Crentium for another week to study the creature more closely and judge whether or not it is a sentient being. P1060433 P1060434 P1060435 [C&C welcome!]

Terrian:While dominated by volcanic activity, the deserts here hide vast water supplies. Meanwhile back in Farmolis in the Smith Lab. Mrs Smith is going over the results from the Awesomnium crystals found and gathered from E03 The crystals have since been hooked up to a power generator to be able to see what can be done from this power source. Then on the comlink “Mrs Smith are you there?” “that sounds like Dr. Long? Great now what did those boys get up to?” I need you to load up you equipment for some water collection on F02, Mr. Smith and Guy have seemed to have found a catacomb with water and have no way of extracting it.” “No Problem, Dr. Long, I thought something had gone wrong or the boys had gotten into trouble. I will get right on it. Some time passes Alright I need these sample containers and this tanker loaded onto F429 and I will be leaving for F02. Tags: Exploration Planet: C04 Aeristus On the grasslands of Aeristus... Why exactly am I exploring with this and not the Hummingbird? Because that's what our orders were. You always say I shouldn't question authority, Commander! You shouldn't question my authority, Sonja! Because I'm always right. Question other people. ~~~~ I have found something bizarre. It appears to be ruins, of some kind. They're very old, must be at least 50 years old. Or a hundred. I have no idea, I'm not an archaeologist! Sonja? There are little relics of people. This makes no sense, there were no people here before. Send a report through to HQ, this needs more investigation. Commander, you're not going to like this. HQ say to abandon mission immediately. You are not to collect any samples. You're right I don't like that! What are they thinking? They also say you must attend a formal debrief at Orinshi. I don't like this, not one bit. I'm going to bring a sample for Fabian. Commander- I know what they said. To be continued... Trying my hand at making something decaying. Definitely an area I want to get better at, I envy the builders who make decay look easy and natural. C&C welcome.

Location: C04 - Aeristus Tags: Vehicle, Land Vehicle, Exploration, Driver Sent to see whether Aeristus was a suitable planet for Kawashita to occupy, Endor landed and began to explore. He took The Silo out on reconnaissance. His craft was designed for fast travel over relatively flat terrains, which Aeristus was primarily composed of. He found no signs of alien life, but came across a few fascinating trees made up of green bark and purple leaves. After collecting all the data his computers could carry, he headed back across the grasslands to base.

Location: F02 - Lesser Drigo Tags: Vehicle, Land Vehicle, Exploration, AG, Octan ++Eshey Reeshia Kolai, personal log, start recording++ Andromeda is steadily becoming developed, although some would say exploited instead. In any case, it's clear that the three major corporations are on a collision course as they expand towards each other's sphere of influence. Already there have been incidents, such as the discovery of a M.A.N.T.I.S. spy in one of our labs on Lesser Drigo (http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=111380), the disappearance of our robots, also on Lesser Drigo (http://www.eurobrick...owtopic=111350]), the hi-jacking of our biomass harvests on Jurin II (http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=111361), and a confrontation that resulted in the deaths of two Octan employees on Arium Major (http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=111267). Some within Octan have advocated for conflict while coolers heads have sought for more diplomatic solutions. My opinion is that we have enough problems with the dangerous fauna here in Andromeda and that we shouldn't have to worry about shadow conflicts with the other corporations. Already I have been attacked by an alien snow monster (http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=110681), and have preempted attacks by obliterating alien cactus monsters (http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=110932). I don't even believe how I was able to survive the last mission when an alien was eating my spaceship while I was still in orbit (http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=111341[/url]), but that is a story for another log. And this just as a temp. As much as I want a permanent position at Octan...you know, job security and benefits and all that...I'm afraid of the type of assignments I'd get as one. The good news is that there appears to be elements within the Kawashita corporation that are open to cooperation with Octan. While a formal press release has not been put out officially stating that our companies are cooperating, unofficial inter-corporate events have been sponsored to foster good will. Maybe...just maybe, these will lead to official collaborations between Kawashita and Octan. My mentor, Pombe, has...how shall I put this...graciously sacrificed himself to attend a "meet and greet" with an all female...and all absolutely gorgeous...Kawashita sales and marketing team. Octan is hosting the event on the tropical paradise of Jurin II. He even sent a picture to show how hard he's working. He serves as a great example for us all.... As for me, I've been assigned to meet with Kawashita engineer, Alexander Vandangant, and inter-corporate relations officer, Ava Gato. We are lucky that Alexander was available at all, considering how busy he was setting up a Kawashita geology lab on Marden (http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=111650), but he was able to make time in his schedule to come all the way out to the Axle. Fortunately, that cutie Big Z will be with me as Alexander showcases his latest design in robotics engineering. Who needs a tropical paradise when you've got him around, right? Of course! Instead of the gun and sword you see here, you can mount missile pods, artillery cannons, and anti-aircraft weapons on any of the hard points. Your hardsuit has hard points. It sounds very hard. I do not understand Kolai-san. Hardness can only be felt, not heard. Please, try it on and feel the hardness. Do you feel hard, Kolai-san? Yes...yes, I do. How about you, Z-san. Would you like to try it on and become hard? I'm always hard. Excellent. A hard man is good to find. That's not how that phrase goes...oh nevermind.... Since we are in orbit over planet F02, why don't Kolai-san and Z-san take the hardsuit out for a test? Mission Log: Entry 8 ~ At last, I've been assigned to man a vehicle which isn't a prototype! Too bad it isn't a shuttle or a speeder, like last time. At least it looks kinda cool. The journey from Sorn to Marphacia wasn't a long one. However, I got to travel in style on board a colossal troop transport, where I was briefed for my next mission. As you know, the surface of Marphacia is covered in plant life, foliage and swamplands. It is the swamps that particularly interest us, since they contain raw biomass, which is essential to our corporation. Therefore, you will be piloting a Kawashita Biomass Extractor, a revolutionary new mecha which extracts this biomass from the ground using our newest technologies. I've assigned Jycho Tyrus to accompany you on this mission, since there is a possibility of M.A.N.T.I.S. presence on Marphacia, and I've been informed that you don't have any weapons training . Location: B05 - Marphacia Tags: Vehicle, Exploration, Military Endor and his team had been sent to Marphacia to explore the options Kawashita had to set up a base there. Knowing that most of the planet was swampland, the team packed a lot of hover equipment. Endor and Jack Harkness had been tasked with testing out the new proto-type bot named the Armadillo. It was the perfect exo-suit for inhospitable planets where small vehicles were the most convenient to use. It was able to roll up into a protective shell if the environment was too hostile. One of the explorers on the team, Kirk, decided he didn't want to wait until the Armadillo had been tested and took a group of "Red-Shirts" as his band of friends had been dubbed. They found out pretty fast that the swamp was no place to go without proper protection as the native flora was slightly deadly. A few of the team focused on training with their respective weapons. A gentleman who went by the name of "Cloud" was training with his buster sword against Hiro. Valentine occupied herself with setting up targets via remote control for Rose Tyler to shoot down. This team of elite Kawashitites would show the planet Marphacia that it was no match for them. One way or another they would find the best way to colonize the planet. OoC: This was my first time using a new DSLR that I got. I'm still getting used to the camera so some of the pictures turned out a little blurrier than I wanted. In time my photography will get back to what it was before, and then hopefully continue to improve!

Activity- Exploration. Location- Mynderis - A04. Previously, Mark of Orion saved Captan Brutus from the Malicious Munchmoid on Jurin II. In reward for his brave service and quick thinking, Mark was promoted from the exploration dropship team to a new solo mission. Mark was sad to leave his comrades but the new pay grade was definitely a must. Not eating at the maggot-infested cafeteria was pricey at best! Mark's next mission, to try out a new MANTIS™ prototype vehicle. Arachtis Strider M2 The Arachtis Strider M2© has just come out of the diabolical labs of MANTIS™ HQ. Unlike most conventional vehicles, the Strider has six independently-powered limbs that propel the saucer--style body. Made from a mix of Durithium composites, the strong but flexible exoskeleton provides a durable frame for the softer bioengineered core. The "feet" are based on the same cell structure of the tentacles of the Garctaloid of Yallorn II, which can send sensory information to the control panels while providing excellent support and superior grip. But this unique transportation mode is not just for show. The Arachtis Strider can traverse even rough terrain at 85 MPH. And the 9 Awesomnium-powered thrusters means that this craft is capable of effectively flying in upper level atmospheres and beyond. The designers believed interplanetary travel in the current Strider model is possible, though dangerous due to the vehicle's small size and weak debris shields. Understandably, Mark was very excited to man the first expedition in the Arachtis Strider M2©! His first mission was on the currently uncontested planet of Mynderis A04. neither Octan nor Kawashita were believed to have any operatives on the surface. As Mark touched down on the crusty plain, he felt for the first time what is must be like to be a 20-foot tall alien bug! "Ohohoho! This thing is FUN!" The location Mark had been posted was on the northern tip of the volcanic planet, here the temperature was well below freezing and the lava flows and eruptions were less frequent. The advanced computers immediately began to direct Mark to curious object on a rocky slope. On closer inspection, the purple edifice gave off large amounts of energy and radiation. Probably Awesomnium! "Time to try out the feet." Arachtis Strider M2 on Mynderis A04 Mark directed one of the limbs to rest on the larger crystal in the center of the mound. The computer immediately read out, "Content: Crystallized Awesomnium 98%, Basalt ash 2%" Mark smiled. This tech was useful. "Nice! I wonder how deep this crystal thing goes..." "Approximately 1300 feet." "Haha! This is awesome!" "Incorrect: The content is 98% Awesomnium." "Yes, yes! I know! Hmm... Where are those humor settings..." To Be Continued! (Begin commentary) Well, I didn't have much time this week, but I did have a friend over on friday and while we were building and tinkering with the LEGO I managed to come up with this bug saucer thingy! Reminds me of War of the Worlds, even though I've never seen the movie or read the books! Hopefully next week I'll be able to DESTROY reply to all the MANTIS™ Haters! -
- Agent G here, Sorn proves to be a relatively un-hostile planet, with the few animal encounters being small reptiles. The real face of Sorn lies beneath, in its icy depths. Fish frolic peacefully here, flitting in and out of the abundant sea-bushes, while white crab like creatures scuttle around in the sifting sands of the ocean beds. My high-tech equipment seems so out of place, cold and lifeless, unlike the bursting ecosystem of Sorn that survives so well without the nutritoxin and Smogg That gets pumped into the air and the water on the more "civilized planets". While we think only of how we may further our reach in the endless reaches of space, we never stop once to think of the life that lies beneath us, choking on our progress... - Comments and Criticism most accepted!

E11, Exploration So there I was, back on some rocky asteroid in the MT-6980, listening to some far out heavy beats, watching out for sinkholes and following the sensors to a very promising deposit of Awesomnium. I crested the ridge of the crater and then it all happened at once. I couldn't believe my eyes. A big old vein of Awesomnium, sure enough, but what was more incredible was suddenly seeing a whole bunch of new fangled Kawashita tech. I must have stumbled on some secret testing facility. There were 2 of those new aster class stealth fighters, the ones that are just carved straight out of the asteroid rock so they don't show up on scanners. And some kind of hillbilly loon buggy, it was pretty neat looking and super lightweight, must have been feeling the need for speed in that one. Yeah, that tech was cool. But the really freaked out thing was, who was driving this stuff. It sure wasn't Kawashita regulars, I know that. Folk with green heads. Guys in Octan gear!. There was even a K-borg with an Octan logo doing some kind of repairing on that buggy. I didn't know what was going on, well above my pay grade anyway. So I radioed in that big old deposit, sat back, and sparked up a fat one. Peace out.

Location: F03 - Forring Tags: civil, vehicle, land vehicle, exploration --Weekly Explorer's Transmission-- --Log of Eagle-Eye Silver-- -- 06 Julali 3815-- I’ve been driving The Beast around Forring for a week now. It’s not actually called “The Beast”, but after rolling over countless small trees, shrubs, rocks, and a bunch of the tan grass on this planet, I’ve forgotten what the Octan Corp. engineers actually call it in the fleet inventory. The Beast doesn’t turn very well, but the power put through the axles is impressive! I’ll bet this truck could pull down a large building if I needed it too. Anyway, Dr. Long has me placing these devices every few kilometers today. She didn’t tell me what they do, but I’m guessing they’re supposed to help locate awesomnium. --End-- More on Flickr, I'll add some standalone pics of The Beast to the album tomorrow.

Air is breathable, Temperature is a pleasant 20 degrees Celsius at night at my current location, and the stars are readily visible. In-fact, I believe I can see the O.C.S. Axle from where I am.... This planet will make a fine resort-world for Octan's retirees. Naturally, specimens must be taken to scan for harmful bio-organisms and viruses, the analysis of which will take place in the pristine labs aboard the O.C.S. Axle. Dr. Long signing off."// Science by the light of the stars //"This is Dr. Long, aboard personal shuttle O.C.S. Cog 1, entering Space Dock 1 of O.C.S. Axle. Prepare decontamination shower for myself and my pilot. Aboard craft are 6 Sc106 Drones filled with xenobiological specimens. Follow typical extraction protocol for low-threat xenobiological contaminants. primary containment and threat assessment in high-risk section of Axle, followed by distribution to low-threat labs as deemed appropriate. Arrival time in approximately 10 minutes. Make that chemical shower warm, and prepare my usual soap cocktail. Dr. Long signing off."// Decontamination Note: This piece was meant to convey a sense of loneliness and cold removedness, and the red chemical shower itself is meant to be rather off-putting. All-in-all I wanted to evoke Fan-Disservice, and not the more ubiquitous opposite of that trope. The build was actually quite a bit more difficult than the pictures may imply, but it was built specifically for this one shot, so the technique I used to create the octagon that comprises the shower goes completely unnoticed. hope you enjoy!
