RecentlyI am a new member of Eurobricks and I have decided to share the building process of my brig, this is one of my first serious ship builds and I would really appreciate feedback and tips. First off, I would like to say that, no, I am not terrible at maths! All shall be explained! (Sorry, this may be quite a lot of reading!) The Back Story: First aspect: Some weeks ago, I was having a general look for sets that might be of interest to me. I stumbled upon a very good deal on the Lego City Bus Station (Set no. 60154). I decided in a spur of the moment purchase to pick up 2 sets, with no real plan… That’s what sowed the seed! Second aspect: In the not so distant past, I had purchased a huge Lego haul from eBay containing many train set items and accessories. In amongst this, was an incomplete copy of the Lego Freight Rail Runner (Set no. 4564) – (maybe 80% complete) – at the time I didn’t really know what to do with it. Over time I harvested the 9V motor, wheels, couplings, bogie plates, wagon parts and straight track – basically all the good stuff! Now, I’m a big fan of seeing people doing set combining! I have never seen anyone attempt something like this! (Correct me if I’m wrong!) The Hypothesis: “Is it feasible to make a decent looking locomotive of any kind, combining Sets 60154 and 4564? – Using minimal significant other parts, but in cases where necessary only using parts I currently have, and not resorting to ordering things. The locomotive should ideally use Power Functions with 2 motors, lights are not necessary. Also, the finished model should be sturdy, strong, and able to be played with by children.” Answer, Was It Possible? Yes, and in my opinion, it turned out rather well. What I attempted to build was a massively simplified Class 37, with much artistic licence! Here is the finished product: Thus, the idea for “60154 + 4564 = 37?” was born! What do you think? An addition to the cannon. I'll be buying the parts to build this soon. You can see it at my BrickLink Stud.io page (link in signature), and if you download or view in 3D you will see the internal details through the open back for play/display - Winter Village style. Scaled to fit my short-form EN-style carriages (24-stud plate; also available at my Stud.io page, with other content including more train stuff) which are hauled by a modified PF'd Constitution engine. Suggestions for improvements welcome.

600th Anniversary of The Battle of Agincourt, October 25, 1415

Hello, here is my latest collaboration, this time to commemorate the 600th anniversary of the battle that provided William Shakespeare with material for one his greatest plays, Henry V. The term, “Band of Brothers” comes directly from this famous play. King Henry V of England himself fought hand-to-hand during the Battle of Agincourt, and even though badly outnumbered his forces crushed the French nobility, changing the political landscape of Europe at the time. For more detail, click on the pictures below: In remembrance of this event, members of WAMALUG decided to both build a huge castle-related LEGO diorama, and also to launch our own history-related group called HistoryLUG. Built during the span of one of our monthly meetings, we used Magnus Lauglo’s Modular Landscape System, our trees and foliage, Lady Kianna’s buildings and almost 500 of our realistic castle-theme minifigs. This only took about four hours to complete. From Wikipedia: The Battle of Agincourt was a major English victory in the Hundred Years' War. The battle took place on Friday, 25 October 1415 (Saint Crispin's Day), near modern-day Azincourt, in northern France. Henry V's victory at Agincourt, against a numerically superior French army, crippled France and started a new period in the war. After the victory, Henry V married the French king's daughter, and their son, later Henry VI of England and Henry II of France, was made heir to the throne of France as well as of England. Henry V led his troops into battle and participated in hand-to-hand fighting. During the battle, his brother was wounded badly and fell to the ground. King Henry ran to his brother's side and stood over him to defend against the French until his brother was carried off the field: The French king of the time, Charles VI, did not command the French army himself as he suffered from severe illnesses. Instead, the French were commanded by Constable Charles d'Albret, who perished during the conflict: This battle is notable for the use of the English longbow in very large numbers, with English and Welsh archers forming most of Henry's army. From Shakespeare’s play, King Henry’s Saint Crispin’s Day speech prior to the battle: And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by, From this day to the ending of the world, But we in it shall be remember'd; We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; For he to-day that sheds his blood with me Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile, This day shall gentle his condition: And gentlemen in England now a-bed Shall think themselves accursed they were not here, And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day. Recently I and some friends decided to create a Lego Pirates Video Comic Series. The production's title is: "Treacherous Tides" and is in the works, aiming for release of chapter one in early May 2015. It's "just for fun" but we plan on a very immerse story line. It's not stop motion, rather, still frame images with ken burns and sound effects in addition to some cool music. We won't be doing any voice acting, instead we will be using speech bubbles. Here is a preview: (Don't watch the Batman one, it's old and not very entertaining, as it has no sound or motion.) Send me some kool names, and we might eventually use them in the series!
