  1. A while ago i bought the recent Harry Potter set with the Hungarian Horntail in it. The dragon in the set was okay but i felt it could be improved a lot by adding more spikes and details, modifying the legs and make neck and tail a bit longer. IMG_20190909_180651 IMG_20190909_180708 IMG_20190909_180723 The end result is this, a fierce looking Hungarian Horntail that leaves no doubt of being one of the most dangerous dragon breeds. IMG_20190909_180733 IMG_20190909_180759 IMG_20190909_181210 IMG_20190909_181511 IMG_20190909_181526 IMG_20190909_181536 I hope you guys like it, comments are welcome.

  3. Been having fun with my Nexo Knights, some knock-off Dinosaurs and Legend Beasts, some real Lego Legend Beasts and a random Mixel. I thought it'd be fun for each knight to have an animal steed instead of vehicles. What kind of things would you like to see in Nexo Knights? Anybody else found any cool knock offs online that you wish were part of the franchise?

  5. Lady Galaria, Mistress of Dragons, and Daeara the Earth Dragon A freebuild for Avalonia Lady Galaria, Mistress of Dragons, is the wife of Henjin Quilones and co-ruler, with her husband, of the Isle of Druidham in the Mystic Isles of Avalonia. She was exiled from the High Elvish kingdom of Hesperia by her father, King Fingolë the Golden, for joining with her fellow guildsmembers in defeating Raavage, rather than sitting back and doing nothing like her father wished. In her exile, she journeyed aboard the Nagra Luca, a swift Elvish ship, far to the west and south, to the city Bandari and the land of Mwamba. There, amongst the equatorial High Elves of that land, she learned much about elemental dragons and how to best raise and train them. In a gesture of unequaled generosity, King Mfalme allowed Galaria and a few of her companions to form soul-bonds with young Mwamban dragons, who then, after a few years of training under Kufunzi, returned all together to Avalonia, where they settled on the Isle of Druidham. Now Galaria and Daeara, her soul-bonded dragon, lead the other dragonriders of Druidham, teaching a new generation of dragonriders how to manage their companions, and protecting Avalonia from elemental threats. They fly here and there, meeting the people of the land and bringing messages, and sometimes passengers, from one corner of the land to the other. _____________________________________ .......................................................................... I had originally built this months ago for the Summer Joust, but never posted it since I wanted to build an all-LEGO scene in which to place Daeara, rather than the stand-alone display base here. I never got around to that all-LEGO scene, however, and decided instead to just post it now as-is. Ah well. Daeara is the same size (frame-wise) as Hewa and Moto, despite being female like Kijani and Maji, due to growing to full stature in earth-magic-rich Avalonia rather than Mwamba. C&C welcome.
  6. ...or, How to build a dragon I know, terrible title pun, but i couldn´t resist. Well, for a while now i have the large rubbery head of an old Ninjago Ice Dragon in my parts collection and i´m planning to build a body for it.I would love to have some basic articulation to it while still being sturdy and not too fragile. It kinda started with the idea of a dragon that can also walk on it´s folded wings (pseudowyvern, like the big Dragons from GoT or like Hookfang from HttyD) but right now it´s more turning into a bird like dragon (walking on two legs and having two wings) Dragon-2 Dragon-3 For now i´m not completely happy with the legs.I would love to have them with 3 joints (ankle, knee and hips). Dragon-1 Dragon-4 Any advice would be much apprechiated. I uploaded the LDD file here: https://bricksafe.com/files/badchriss/Dragon.lxf
  7. Thunder Dragon Trial is one of the most dangerous trials in the entire land. No one had ever beaten the thunder dragon before. Warriors who pass the trial shall master the power of storm. Now, Lord Elveon is about to challenge the impossible... C & Cs are welcome.

    Moto the Fire Dragon

Moto the Fire Dragon A freebuild for Avalonia < Previous Elemental Dragon Moto and his rider, the elf Lord Joto, are the Fire Guardians protecting the Elvish kingdom of Mwamba from any fiery threats, especially from volcanoes. Moto's wings are smaller than those of many of his peers, enabling him to crawl into lava tubes and into magma chambers without catching the membranes on any sharp edges. Lord Joto sits on the Elemental Council of Mwamba and was one of those who supported gifting dragons to the ragtag collection of Hesperian exiles that showed up on the streets of Bandari, including Galaria. More pictures: ______________________________________________________ ............................................................................................................ Moto finishes the collection of the Elemental Guardians of Mwamba, both dragons and riders. I need to build a council chamber for them to meet and show the story of Galaria and her friends being given permission to form a soul-bond with infant dragons and learn the basics of raising them, but I have been having trouble finding the time lately for much building. Hopefully soon! I've got some other stuff ready to go, but I need to have a day to take the pictures; maybe this weekend, unless another hurricane decides to drop lots of rain on us... C&C welcome. Moto is probably my second favorite dragon I've made. I was rather pleased with the base on this one, so hopefully @TitusV doesn't find something to dislike about this base, too! (I don't think any lines are too straight on the front, at least...)

    Hewa the Air Dragon

Hewa the Air Dragon A freebuild for Avalonia < Previous Elemental Dragon ... Next Elemental Dragon > Hewa and his rider, the Elvish King Mfalme, are the Air Guardians of Mwamba, soaring about the lofty peaks and through the clouds safeguarding the land from hostile threats. King Mfalme rules the land from the City of Bandari, where he is assisted by other elves, centaurs, gnomes, and humans. He graciously allowed Galaria to bond with a dragon of her own, which she and Henjin Quilones rode back from Mwamba to Avalonia, to start their settlement of Druidham in the Mystic Isles, a haven for druids and dragonriders alike. Other companions of the two exiles also were given dragons to raise as lifelong soul-joined dragonriders, the start of a new weyr of dragons in the West. More pictures: _______________________________________________ .............................................................................................. I tried something different with Hewa, as I have always loved the idea of feathered dragons. The wings were a bit of a struggle, but I am fairly happy with how they turned out. C&C welcome.

    Maji the Water Dragon

Maji the Water Dragon A freebuild for Avalonia < Previous Elemental Dragon ... Next Elemental Dragon > Maji is the Water Guardian of the coastal regions of the land of Mwamba, together with her elf rider, Lady Mvua. They work together to keep the land safe from any threats from the water, and preserve the water from any threats from those who would wish to harm it. They were some of the first to welcom Henjin Quilones and Galaria to Bandari, and to show them around Mwamba, when they arrived there in their exile. More pictures: ___________________________________________________ ....................................................................................................... Back with another elemental dragon, this time water. This one was much harder to photograph with my setup, due to the dark color of Maji's hide. Still very posable and all that, but I have to admit I don't like her as much as Kijani. C&C welcome, as usual.

    Kijani the Earth Dragon

Kijani the Earth Dragon Next Elemental Dragon > When Henjin Quilones and Galaria the Exiled Elf went to the Land of Mwamba, they stayed in the city of Bandari for a while, but eventually they traveled out to see the lands beyond the city. There they met the Lady Maua and her earth dragon, Kijani. The dragons of Mwamba are divided into four categories: Earth, Water, Fire, and Air. They serve as the guardians and protectors of each of their respective elements. The Earth of the rolling hills and plains is the special province of Kijani and Maua. ____________________________________________________________________ ........................................................................................................................................ 12. The City of Bandari An entry into "A Safe Haven", the Fifth Anniversary Challenge, Category A Also Chapter 7 of the Chronicles of Hesperia The druid Henjin Quilones, Galaria the former princess, and Hamisha the returning exile stepped out of the rowboat and began making their way up the dock and onto the shore. They had to duck around several sharks hanging by their tails on the beach, strung up by the fisherman who lived in the house by the dock. Before them spread the City of Bandari, the jewel of Mwamba. Hamisha, who was leading the way, paused to take it all in, tears beginning to form in the corners of her eyes. She recognized so many faces that she had not seen in hundreds of years, not since the council of this city had voted to send her away. They had seen the Bahari, the master fisherman at work hauling in his nets as they tied up at the dock. Ahead of them was Chuma, smithing away at something at his forge. Winda, the elf scout, was standing up on a balcony overlooking the market, but her attention was fixed on something happening around the corner of the massive building on the hill. "That is the dragon hatchery," Hamisha told the others. "The dragons come here and lay their eggs, and then the elves take the best care of them until they hatch. They are very watchful and observant, too. Inside that building are sand pits kept at the precisely correct temperatures to maintain optimal egg health. The gnomes of this city tend to some sort of subterranean network of pipes that bring hot steam under the sand; there is always vapor of some kind coming out of the holes behind the hatchery." "But up on the side of the building," continued Hamisha, "You can see a sight that is quite rare; an adult male dragon meeting his hatchling for the first time! That is Nyeusimoto, and he is the dragon companion of Lord Mkuu, one of the elf princes of the land." "Watch your step in the market here. The sellers can be very pushy; or at least, the humans of three hundred years ago were. I doubt much has changed in the intervening time." "And whatever you do, do not mess with the aelfcats or the dragon knights, or step in the way of a centaur!" "It is good to be home." More pictures: ___________________________________________________________________________________ ....................................................................................................................................................................... C&C welcome! This one was light on story, heavy on build. For those curious about the figures seen throughout the build, my category B CMF series will shed some light on most of them, besides the aelfcats, who are new. This is by far my largest build, being about 100x100 studs, making it four times the size of my previous record, and I have been working on it since July or August. It was hard getting good shots of it, and I really only had one chance at pictures, as it took an hour or more to move it from my LEGO table to my outdoor photo site and re-build the sections, and then moving it back again resulted in stuff breaking. Fitting all that into the kids' nap time is not easy. Ah well. Someday it is my dream to have a designated photography studio in my house, or at least nice gear (besides just a camera), but that will have to wait until I win the lottery. For now it will be good to take this apart and have bricks to build other things finally.
  13. I figured today (or rather yesterday) was a good day to post this since it is (was) September the first, or as J.k. Rowling calls(ed) it, "Return to Hogwarts" day! Wow, Harry Potter has really made a huge re-resurgence in the last few months. Then again, with that new movie and the books coming out, I figure why not join the hype. Anyway, I showed a sneak preview earlier this year, and this is the finished product. I'm pretty happy with it. Probably may change a few things here and there. The scene depicts the trio of young wizards escaping the Wizarding bank Gringotts ( ) and continuing their dangerous quest to hunt down the horcruxes and defeat the darkest wizard of all, Lord Voldemort! The most exciting part is, of course, the Ukrainian Ironbelly, a dragon I am especially fond of. A big thank you to Marcel for helping me with the building and an even bigger one to Markus for helping with the photo-editing. Logo from here. Harry Potter, Gringotts, Ukrainian Ironbelly and all related names, images, etc. are property of J.K. Rowling and Warner Brothers Studios. .... and of course thank you J.K. Rowling for creating such a wonderful series of stories! I didn't like the photo of the other side that shows Hermione wearing the Bellatrix disguise. I highly recommend you check out the video by Beyond the Brick here for more. Thanks to the amazing folks at BTB! .... and here's the sneak peek shot from earlier this year: Please be sure to check it out on Flickr when you have a chance!

    A Risky Endeavor

My 2nd entry for the 15th Colossal Castle Contest, for the “Ye Old Switcheroo” category. I used a technique somewhat similar to my technic rockwork, but using plate modified with clip and handle instead of technic bricks for the cliff, and really like how it turned out. Getting a dragon’s egg is always a dangerous business. This Mitgardian adventurer thought switching an egg for a similar shaped rock would allow him to make an undetected swap. After a long climb up the cliff face to reach the dragon's nest, he finally seems to have achieved his objective. But will he really get away with the egg? Plenty more pictures available on brickbuilt! Finally finished the semester, so now I can get onto CCC entries/GoH builds! C&C welcome
  15. Make more animals! So I made a six legged walking dragon. It is based on "basic walking frame" by JK Brickworks ( http://jkbrickworks.com/motorized-mic... ). Very primitive, however kids like when the veeery slow dragon tries to catch them :) Video:
  16. Hi finally i can present my latest Elves MOC. As i felt that Ragana needs a dragon when all the other elves have one, i decided to build one matching her colors. Its a black/magenta color scheme with a mix of that strange green (am lazy to find the right name) Her name could be: Ashtari, mother of Ashwing Base of this build is the White Dragon body recolored in black and customized at the bottom, prolonged by 2 studs. Then rear legs are from Ashwing and front legs custom. Head of course Ashwing, the only thinkable head for an evil dragon currently. Instead of just a seat i have given Ragana a throne :) I had to open both Ashwing set i got in 50% discount to build this dragon (due to the black claws only from this set and there was no time for BrickLink order - dragon was built for exhibition) and as a side project i also built a little Ashwings brother or sister. Luckily there are small green wings from Farans dragon as i found out during build, that the original wings are too big for the Water dragon, but the green color is still fitting good. Funny thing with the build was that i found out that White dragons head mold is bigger that all others (i dont own this set yet), so the dragon looks a bit strange with the big body and smaller head, but someone told me that it looks more realistic in proportions for a dragon - anyway i cant do anything about it as there is no other color for the big head. Sorry for the low quality pictures, was photographed during night when kidz are sleeping :) BrickShelf galery
  17. I was asked to play Brikwars, so I built his mechanic dragon to make my dwarven army a bit stronger. The mechanical dragon features a maw flamethrower with a light brick and a tail-mounted machine gun. There are both western and easters dragon influences here. I wanted it to have short legs and no wings. More pictures on Cyclopic Bricks.

    [MOC] Dragon tower

When I got the green baseplate 16x32 I knew I need to build small diorama on it. From some time I wanted to build something in Dark Bluish Gray colour for testing purpose. I am going to build bigger castle in that colour. I also had returning idea of creating hanging bridge. And that's how this fast MOC evolved. Drakkirion Courier Dragon

Built for a commission, this dragon was based on a detailed piece of concept art my client sent me. I loved having an excuse to return to my niche, and think of this as one of the best dragons I've designed! You can check out all images in their larger versions by clicking them. I'm quite pleased with how uniform the colors are on this build. The dark orange jumper plates up top are meant to evince orange spine striping, which was present in the concept art dragon on which this MOC version was based. Drakkirion has a wingspan more than 19" (47cm) wide. For the first time, I used a two-colored fabric on dragon wings (the underside is a burnt orange, the top a deep red). It pleased me, as well, to take advantage of the new (usually ugly) recoloring of 4L and 6L Technic axles. The minifig that rides Drakkirion was also based on a concept art image provided by my client. The trenchcoat here is cut from a Prince of Persia awning cloth. Appreciate any comments ans critiques you have in the comments below!

    [MOC]Escaped Dragon

Since LEGO has so many types of gears and connectors I started to think about making a automata toy. Instead of a still scene, the motion may create a lot of fun. This one can be categoried to the castel series, it depicting a scene that one guy is draged by the flying dragon, and the othe two are trying to rescue him. For the dragon, there are several parts can be rotate or adjusted, including: head, both wings, hands and feets, tail. I will update the instruction of the dragon soon.
  21. I wanted to create some different areas based on the four elements represented by the four main elves, I've mixed parts from all kinds of different sets to create these places. This one is the earth themed home for Farran the Earth Elf. I wanted it to be part cottage, part treehouse. It's mostly parts from The Elves Treetop Hideaway and the Ewok Village sets. I attached my waterfall cave alongside the treehouse I also made a fire themed volcano cave with a tall treehouse/tower neighbouring it. It's mostly made from a Lego Friends set that has a cabin and a waterfall. I kept the cabin and built the tower above it and changed the waterfall into a volcano. I've created a workshop for the Air Elf Aira in one section of the tower with a bedroom above it, an observing platform with a telescope above that and a turret room on the top. The webisodes show that Azari the fire elf is homeless and just crashes with the other elves, but I've given her a warm place to sleep inside the volcano. I kept the camp beds in the cabin for the humans to sleep in when they visit Elvendale. And here's some random pictures..
  22. Hello! Here's new MOCs of my favourite Lego theme :) I keep the fingers crossed for next year because it's so inspiring series. First one is all about big fountain - I like that method when water is made with scattered small transperent pieces, so I decide to try it too :) Also there's tea room and greenhouse This I builded before. The Idea is expansion of Dragon Sanctuary set. I added counsil hall with elemental themed thrones. Also there was first floor cave, but it happend little chaotic so I don't include it here.
  23. Hey, A question to others who own the 9450 set with the four headed dragon. My kids have this set, build it when they got it. Never took it apart or anything but now I noticed that the lower half of two dragon heads start falling off. It are the two heads without the ball-shooter. The lower parts of those heads are very loose and thus easily fall down the technic rod. A small swoosh is enough. Anybody else has this issue? I know workarounds but it isn't... cool. As all other dragon heads are still fine, also on other models (ice, fire, earth, lightning, gold).

    Animals

Hello! Recently I have decided to enter a contest over on Flickr, the Colossal Battle Contest in the group LEGO War. One of the categories is Beasts of battle, and I was wondering if anyone had ideas/techniques of how to build cool animals that might fit that theme. I already have one entry done, but I still want to hear some ideas and learn some new techniques to apply in other builds as well. I hope this topic will help others too, because I know that animals and beasts are often rather difficult to realistically represent in LEGO brick form. Thanks everyone!
  25. Can't find the 30428 polybag for sale in my local stores. So I made my own. Not with blackjack because how do I build Lego blackjack anyway?
