What do you do with your Lego?

This might sound like quite a stupid question, but I see that on this website many AFOL's do a lot of different things with their Lego. I personally display my sets and I occasionally make some brickfilms. I thought it would be interesting to find the most popular AFOL activity! If you do more than one thing with your Lego (which most of you probably do) try and pick the thing you mainly do
  2. ^ The Haunted House set, right..? Well Check again! It's highly modified. It's wider, deeper, and higher. (Go count the extra studs !) I think the original lego-set is one of the alltime best lego has offered till now. It does have room for improvement though... First of all, it's big, but not quite big enough. If you want to make a complete interior it has to become a bit bigger. And to make the exterior complete, I added a big tree. While rebuilding the original I got inspired by Disneyland's Phantom Manor (paris). It kinda looks like it already. Just some details were not quite right. I added the round, doubled, and trippeled windows in the front as wel as another balcony on the right. The real Phantom Manor has the porch run around the left corner for visitors, but I left that out. I still wanted the Dollhouse-opening feature. So, this one really is much bigger, wider, and higher, but to really appreciate that you'll have to compare it next to a photo of the origninal set. As you'll see I left a lot of the original details intact, cause I think Lego did a terrific job. ^ Rightside porch and balcony (the steps have been corrected one stud to the right...) ^ I tried to make it interesting from a lot of angles by creating different scenes. Here a couple is sneaking about, not knowing they are being watched from behind by... ^ The Creature From The Black Lagoon! ^ The Creature from the Black Lagoon has a diorama of it's own. ^ I love the hinged dollhouse style way of opening so I kept that. As you can see I modified every square inch of the interior. But let's look at the one level at a time... To be continued...

    Winter Village Station

Here is my latest creation: the Winter Station! As previously announced in the spring of 2014, the station was the last big building I had in mind to achieve. I got there just now because I can finally put the railroad in my diorama in a new row of bases on the front. The station occupies two bases 32x32 and has a considerable size but always in line with the other buildings in my village (visit here: https://www.flickr.c...57638505699563/). I tried to enter details as possible using many small parts and developing very both the architectural interiors. Throughout the building (including its two bases of support) has over 4600 pieces. The architecture is reminiscent of a mix front of some stations real, for example for the clock on top of the roof I was inspired by some Italian stations. The tracks pass close to the dock, which allows travelers to get on and off easily by train. On front side windows with embellishments side obtained with techniques snot and upper ones have the shutters of wood with a central cross that look a bit the north-European style. The clock on top is an addition to not leave the roof too simple. But now we speak of the interior: I worked a lot on the interior looking at part of recreating a station in reality. It helped me in this also my personal experience in the world of railways and railway signaling. In the central part of the ground floor there is an open corridor (without front door) of passage for the public. At the bottom left you can see the control room with the head station while controlling rail traffic with all its equipment. Alongside you can see instead of the ticket office with two doors to the public, monitor for announcements of trains departing and arriving, a tree with Christmas decorations and accessories. At the bottom right is the waiting room. In this room is accessed by a door from the central corridor. The room is composed of a series of wooden benches for waiting minifig and some accessories such as newspapers, lamps, flowers and paintings. The walls and floors look a little stations of 60/70 years with a retrò style. And now comes the most interesting part: the attic. The floor is reached by a staircase from the hallway and opening a trap door on the attic. For some time I wanted to make an attic by inserting a bit 'of everything. The basic idea was to make it look like a storage of goods, or rather a warehouse where it was placed a bit 'of everything and consequently left abandoned over time. No attendant at the station today remembers what is stored there! If you look around carefully you will notice several things extravagant and of course I have not forgotten the reference to some famous films, especially the golden object on the right. The boxes with printed markings are 3 accessories can be purchased on site www.minifigforlife.com Other details The floor gives access to the side doors to two small terraces in which it was done a Christmas tree (left) and a little man with snow (right). The gear technic you see behind the clock serves to adjust the time, of course, will allow us to have just the right time twice a day! In the building there are 10 minifigs and as usual I have included a number of fairly rare pieces as if it were a UCS. The part of the roof is easily removable for a better look at the ceiling; Also the entire first floor is removable in order to better observe the ground floor. Finally, the entire station is removable from the base to be able to put in boxes for transport. Enjoy! Gallery HD images on Flickr: https://www.flickr.c...57650075760667/

    SDRnet Winter Village

This diorama represents a full year of work (of my little free time). Here is his short story: at the end of 2011 I presented on EB my Winter Church who has won the fifth place in the contest "Expand the Winter Village II". The church was located on a small winter diorama consists of 4 baseplates 32x32 with the first two sets of Lego official winter. In December of 2012 I presented instead the Winter Town Hall for the "Expand the Winter Village Contest III" that won the second place! These two buildings were needed for my new project: I decided to completely rebuild the first rudimentary village to build a large diorama winter. After several months of work have come to the end of my first goal. The Winter Village you see is composed of 12 baseplates 32x32 but my final project will provide for the use of 40 bases (10x4 = 2,5 x 1 meter). It will probably take at least another 3 years for this goal but in the meantime I'll keep you updated! At present the village is composed of a central square with a stone fountain, statue and Christmas tree decorated, a church, an outdoor bar, the bakery, the town hall, the toy store, the post office (modified), a souvenir shop, a motorized water mill, a stone bridge, the Lego cottage (modified). All surrounded by snow covered trees and various funny skits with characters more or less famous. I hope to post soon new detail images on flickr. 8. This project is the culmination of everything I have ever wanted to build. The Aquazone theme will always hold a special place in my heart, and Lego Technic and Mindstorms have solidified my lifetime addiction to Lego. I know this is a bit of a blast from the past using rcx's but they are cheap (as am I) and readily available on ebay. Not to mention they fit the color scheme ;). I got 10 between 2 ebay auctions and after a few hours of cleaning battery acid and a few solder joints i was left with 6 working units. I sold off some of my collection (bye bye maersk train), mostly minifigs to finance my ebay findings (hello dacta control center). Most of the Aquazone sets were bought years ago on ebay once I got my first job, I was able to snag one of most every original aquazone sets that i couldn't afford as a kid. Now that the history is out of the way on to the building! Features so far include: 2 sets of LED's given a random power level every 10ms, to give a nice flicker effect in the cave. 1 Lamp (more coming from bricklink!), randomly goes between power level 6 and 7 on a slow cycle. This is designed to catch the eye and add realism. Cant wait to get more to light the entire model. Power station in back powered by classic 9v non-geared motor, The propellors spin at different speeds thanks to different sized pulleys mounted on smooth axles, the smooth axles a carefully pushed through the friction pins of the propellors. Automatic air compressor using a rotation sensor to stop at max pressure, and a touch sensor and pneumatic cylinder to trigger start at min pressure. Also features manual override touch sensor to start again. Power functions RC robotic arm, doesnt quite fit in yet, but it will eventually, again this is a work in progress. The picture below is an overview of a somewhat recent picture, for the most recent work check out the brickshelf link. I will eventually post a video of the completed model without all the technical jargon. But if you are in to technical jargon the youtube videos below go in to detail as the model has progressed. Diorama - Friends

I present to you the "Friends" city layout my wife Joanna build for our Lego show in October, she did a lot of modifications to the "Friends and creator buildings, she calls it "Friendszerising" them (is that a word) Hope you like it DSC_9395 by Technic70s, on Flickr DSC_9393 by Technic70s, on Flickr DSC_9696 by Technic70s, on Flickr https://www.flickr.c...57649423062996/
  10. Hello everyone! As promised to many of you who have followed me over the last few months there are some pictures of my full Winter Village version 2014. The village consists of 24 baseplates, various buildings, over 28.500 pieces and over 120 minifigs. A lot of hard work but that led me in the recent exhibition of Lecco (19-20 July in Italy) a great satisfaction. Thanks for watching and for your comments! The complete gallery and other HD images:
  11. Ma.K SAFS Wolverine Diorama Well I decided to join Ma.Ktoberfest 2014, and what fun! I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute I spent building this model. Thanks for the great theme guys. :) The little mech itself was a blast to build, that is what started this vignette off. :) If you are going to BrickWorld 2015, you might see this little vignette there! Here's hoping that i can keep it together until then :) Based off of: The Raccoon and Raptor Diorama and: SAFS Wolverine Both on maschinenkrueger.com Thanks for viewing, and God bless! Soli Deo Gloria! ~Matthew~

    MOC Garden Railroad

Here's my newest creation - a mini railroad diorama! Since this is a diorama of a house and since there is a train in the forum banner, I hope this is the right place (and not train tech). A render of the concept: The finished scene: Without the train: The train in detail: The carriages can hold up to three minifigs each if the hair piece doesn't need too much space. The train is pretty unstable but it is not meant to be played with. The whole train is connected to the scene at two spots. I hope you like it!
  14. Hi there, Here are some photos of my newest model I displayed at BrickFair VA this past weekend, a diorama depicting the set of the classic BBC Two sitcom Fawlty Towers. The hall tree with dual umbrella stands in the vestibule at the back of this photo can be seen in better detail here. Here's another shot from the con showing the reception desk, the fire bell, and the moose head with a broken antler. Here's a work-in-progress picture showing an alternate corbel design in light grey and some of the winder stairs. Here's what the whole diorama looked like from the front sitting on the table, which provides another view of the staircase. I plan to modify this and post another set of photos once I get some parts I don't yet own and will maybe even build the upstairs or exterior. Thanks for looking, Nathan

    MOC City panorama

My largest MOC so far, a diorama showing a section from the city. The main elements of the city are the houses, a road with tram tracks and a canal. The leftmost house has a small florist shop under the arches. There is a bus stop in front of the red house and an ATM. The nearby house is currently being renovated. To the right is a typical Victorian house and a zebra crossing in front of it. Across the road you can find a bike rack, a telephone booth and a tram stop. The bridges connect both sides of the canal. A road crosses it on the older stone bridge... ...while the pedestrians can use a new footbridge nearby. Florist shop Tram stop Tram stop shelter with ticket machine Zebra crossing Bus stop ATM Telephone booth Bike rack A popular way to see the city is taking a boat tour, with the tourists eager to capture every moment with their cameras. Rear view, nothing special apart from some creative use of dark green bricks. The entire thing is 127x71 cms in size (3x5 standard baseplates 32x32) and took about 9.000 bricks and 100 hours to build. Although designated as MOC, some elements are taken from official sets and other creations: - both cars are from Cargo Train - the street sweeper is OOB - the bus is red-coloured MOD from City Corner - the pram is taken from Green Grocer - the ATM is borrowed from this creation More pictures here.
  16. Yesterday I posted to flickr this creation of mine influenced by Buddhist and in turn Hindu art. Specifically the statue is meant to represent a bodhisattva like Ksitigarbha and Avalokitesvara. Each of the ritual objects held by the bodhisattva's many arms has a religious significance: the bell to punctuate the recitation of mantras, the staff with jingling rings to announce the coming of a traveler, the trident to represent the three jewels and three poisons of Buddhist philosophy, the axe to symbolically behead ignorance (one of the poisons), and the round orange vessel is meant to represent a wish-fulfilling jewel or cintamani. Click the image for a link to the flickr photo page. I feel bad posting these other things because some are almost a year old, but I'm not sure that new topics would be appropriate either. Anyhow, I exhibited this model at Brickfair VA last year and it's based on the library on the Island of Myst that sets the adventure puzzle game Myst and appears in some of its sequels. These boats I also assembled for the con as my small contribution to last year's Apocalug cyber city. The one in the middle is based on the airboat from the episode "Ganymede Elegy" of the anime Cowboy Bebop. Finally, the oldest model I never posted here isn't very refined as I built it only to photograph for the banner of a flickr group, but I think some of you may appreciate it. It's designed after a meeting house or wharenui used by the Maori people of New Zealand. Once again I have linked the image to its flickr page. Thanks for looking through all these, Nathan

    [MOC] Wayne Manor

Main Shot I have to say that i am not happy with this picture. i had a hard time taking this picture due to the lighting only being let into the windows that are so dull and the pillars hiding some things. After doing battle with the now dead (Thanks to Damian) Morgan Ducard, Bruce and Damian play fetch with Damian's dog, Titus at Wayne Manor while they are trying to recover from the horrifying events of there battle with Ducard. Huge thanks to Tristan, Richard, Harry and anyone else who gave feedback during the work in progress stages. My second entry into Nick Haro's Lego Batman Contest over on Flickr.
  20. As I was inspired to build in microscale by toomuchcaffeine's (alas, now former ) Cuusoo project of micro Star Wars scenes (pictures here), it has always been my intention not to not just make vehicles. I wanted to give them a setting, to make a diorama with just a few pieces. Maybe there are more to come, but anyway I present here to you my first micro scene. [MOC] The Tiny Pit of Carkoon by Bert.VR, on Flickr Yes, I know. It's not a giant diorama that that epic scenes deserves (and has got), but still, I'm quite fond of it. The Sarlacc itself is the starting points. Add together 2 LEGO Friends hand mirrors/beac, 6 wild west horns/tentacles, 1 Technic turntable/teeth and some binoculars, clips and a dozen of SNOT bricks to make it bind, and voilà, there's your micro Sarlacc. Due to all the SNOT involved in this centerpiece, the build turned out quite complicated as a whole. Adding the curves to simulate dunes at an ofset didn't really help, but at least it gave a decent aesthetical effect. If you're more of an expert in the MOCcing cuisine, you can try to prepare the Sail Barge, as that's a quite complex recipe to follow. The distinct snout is hard to replicate in any scale of LEGO. You have to get the slope viewed from the side, and the curve viewed from the top. So you have to choose your ingredients - err... parts - very well. After using all kinds of pieces I had never heard of before (like Indian wigs, bizarre Hero Factory pieces, trays and bowls...) two rather ordinary (no offence) bow pieces (part 64225) seemed to deliver the right taste. Combining these with straight slopes and shields (O, I do love those!) gave what I was aiming for. The problem was keeping it together, and fitting it in with the rest of the dish - err... model. Some dirty tricks (no bricks were harmed, during the making of this model) gave a satisfactory result, though some gaps were left, I admit. [MOC] The Tiny Pit of Carkoon by Bert.VR, on Flickr To garnish your creation, you can't go without some Desert Skiffs. To be in scale, they had to be really tiny, even for my standards . It was hard to come up with an accurate and - even more important - pretty solution. In the end, I took the advise of "less is more" seriously for once and stayed with one piece, and one piece only. The Rescue can (part 90395) that had proven to be unsuitable for the main course (the Sail Barge) turned out to be just the right part for the job. All you have to do then, is to tell everybody not to notice the gaps, and to present your creation nicely. To evoke the dessert of Tatooine (pun intended), a chaotic and rough edge seems appropriate, especially since you don't want to cover up all those offsets you introduced earlier on... [MOC] The Tiny Pit of Carkoon by Bert.VR, on Flickr This model is best served rendered with LDD2POV-Ray, and with a long text alongside it. I wish you all a humble bon appetit. Please let me know how it tastes. If you have remarks about the spicing, please do tell me. Then I will fetch you some salt and pepper. (in other words: C&C welcome and appreciated)
  21. I joined a squad of snowtroopers on a mission to Hoth to recover Alliance intelligence from the abandoned base. However, as we wandered around the corridors, with our winter suits on, we found out that the rebel base was not as abandoned as it seemed. Our troops quickly assembled the E-web blaster cannon and wiped out much of the rebel troops. Then we proceeded to gather data and destroy equipment before more rebels arrived. We also set up the lights to illuminate the snow carved base... ...with an old 9v battery This is my entry for the Episode 3 of Sone series. I hope you enjoy it, and leave a comment.
  22. Episode V is my favorite star wars film and this is my first Star Wars MOC diorama based on the film. The theme is "Battle of Hoth" but I'm focusing on the aftermath of the battle. this MOC is also appeared in my flickr page thx and feel free to comment

    Bamboo Hut

[pid][/pid] 243B Hello Pirate Forum Building organic water with the bricks is always a challenge. I tried to solve this challenge with a new technique: Based on 1x1 Tiles with Clip + 1x2 trans Tiles. But the water alone was a bit boring so i added some plants, a bamboo hut and details. ;) More pictures you can find like always on flickr and MOCpages. I hope you enjoy it! 24. We all go through dark ages, and another is fast approaching and I have decided to considerably downsize my collection of models. Before listing them all on Ebay I wanted to give Eurobrick Members / LUG'S the opportunity to acquire them as they would make a sizable diorama for someone willing to have the space. In all cases please assume the models are 98% complete, i.e. there may be occasional part changes but these should not effect the appearance of the model. Not all mini-figs are present, and assume no instructions. Where possible I link to photos for your viewing pleasure. Please be aware that shipping from Switzerland is not cheap. There is an online price calculator from Swiss Post. There is an automatic limit of 2cm package thickness which is generally not possible to keep for any model. E.g. a 12V wheel in padded envelope is already larger than 2cm. Consequently most postage to Western Europe will be over 15 CHF. Maxi-Brief parcels have to have a weight under 2kg and Length + Width + Height under 90cm, with no single dimension of more than 60cm. This can be achieved for small models, otherwise it will via Small Packet Post. Some recent examples: 3.5kg parcel to Belgium: 45 CHF: Incuded Tracking and Insurance 4 kg parcel to Holland: 49 CHF: Included Tracking and Insurance 500g parcel to UK: 15.50 CHF: No tracking, no insurance For addresses in Switzerland it costs between 9-15 CHF depending upon weight, or we can arrange a pickup from Zurich-Oberland. For addresses in Germany I can be persuaded to take the train to Konstanz and post the parcel using DHL prices is then about 6-10 Euro (up to 10kg). The prices are based upon average selling from bricklink in the past 6 months, and ebay (tends to be cheaper). I am always open to sensible offers, or multiple set discounts. However we both know the realistic prices so please, nothing silly. This list will appear in subsequent posts so that I can easily edit the items. However as a flavour here are the harbour and cargo sets

    Port Callao Invasion

Hi everyone !!! This is my first post My name is Raúl, I'm from Lima - Perú (South America, Machu Pichu hehehe) I'm a Lego HARDCORE fan. In Perú, Lego is VERY expensive (twice as expensive as Europe) and very limited support, but with tons of effort we can build some dioramas hehehe This is my second diorama. It's an expo in Lima (october 26th), and was a little expo but very significative. Album in flickr: Take care See you soon El Pirotecnico PD: Sorry for my bad english
