  1. Prior build - In the Dark of the Night At the gates of the Pontis Wing of the Palais Royal in Granoleon the continued buzzing of diplomatic channels created yet another chapter. Lighting up the Diplomatic Furnace 'This is going to cost them' the Lord Chancellor thought to himself. It was an exceptionally mild day in Granoleon given the time of the year. Yet, there was a feeling of dooming winter in the air. Something was coming. He had experienced everything in his diplomatic life, still the recent developments were unusual – even to him. But strangely, as most of the Royal Court of Granoleon was afraid – some terrified princes had even left the city – Calida looked forward to their unveiling. It was the general opinion at the Royal Court and within the High Council that this time King Fernando had gone too far. First, there was the fact that he still hadn't withdrawn his ridiculous and illegitimate claim to the Oleander Throne. A fact, that didn't bother Calida much, and even His Majesty tended to look the other way due to Fernando's dynastic ties to the Royal Court. Then his forces occupied a small and utterly unimportant tiny little island somewhere in the Eastern Seas. A fact much more troublesome already, one that only with a lot of diplomatic goodwill could be seen as a move against Mardier alone. But now having Eslandolian troops attack and seize Oleander military installations. And rumors had it that he was assembling an army for a full-fledged attack against Oleon. This could no longer be ignored. The Eslandolian tendency to aggressively create faits accomplis had become too dangerous to bear. There were rules in this world. He had lived through too much to allow such rogue and dangerous actions to pass without opposition. He knew what appeasement could lead to. A line needed to be drawn. To this point, but no further! 'You have your orders.' Calida snarled at the diplomat. 'Make it happen!' 'Yes, your Excellence, I will see it through.' The diplomat replied eagerly, as expected from a devoted servant in His Majesty's service. Yet, something seemed to trouble him, something had him hesitate. 'Your Excellence, if this meeting with the representatives of Her Highness Queen Annetta goes as planned... does that mean...' The Lord Chancellor slowly turned his head and with a hissing tone he snapped at him 'Don't ask questions you won't like the answers to!' To be continued...
  2. Prior Build: Concerns in the Ministries The situation in New Terra is developing by the hour, and the diplomatic services of Corrington are busily trying to keep ahead of things, continually preparing and adjusting the proper response. Recent developments has even prompted Corrington to put old differences aside and reach out to old enemies to ensure that order and law rule in the Brick Seas. Hence, representatives of different government branches have met with an Olean diplomat to send off a small delegation towards Granoleon with all possible haste in the dark of night. Only time will show what will come of this...
  3. In one of the numerous ministry buildings in Belson, heavy issue were on the agenda. Representatives of the Royal Navy, her Majesty's Armed Forces, the Foreign Ministry, and the Crown convened to discuss current events and the proper Corlander response. The building was a rather grandiose palazzo in the modern style, with an imposing, elaborate façade, facing one of the larger streets of Belson. Few knew exactly what was going on inside this building, or what ministry it was related to, but at all times, two soldiers were stationed outside, guarding the entrance and only letting in those with an explicit invitation, suggesting that confidential matters might be involved. Right at this moment, such a guest was arriving, donning the official uniform of the Eslandian armed forces. Oddly enough, inside a representative of Oleon had also just arrived, and was being welcome by an assistant at the door. What matters might require the presence of both Eslandian and Olean representatives? Upstairs, an answer was to be found. A rear-admiral was expressing concerns about developments in the naval balance of power. "…but with the newly despatched Man-of-war the Triton adding to the existing forces including the HRS Tigre, the Royal Navy can no longer be expected to counter a possible aggression from Oleon. Not without further commitment of forces." All around, the officials were nodding, and the rear-admiral continued: "And Eslandian fleets leave us in a similar predicament. Especially Maestro is in possession of considerable forces, amongst those the Margot. To that, we can add the multitude of privateers and minor powers, attacking our trade…" Her Majesty's representative interjected: "But did not the pirate purge sweep up a great many pirates?" "Indeed, my lord, but despite continuous joint efforts, privateers seem to reappear as swiftly as we can catch them." The general took the word. "I too have ill-tidings. Word has just reached us that Eslandola seems to have invaded Isla de Victoria..." An elderly gentleman in black from the Foreign Ministry cried out in shock: "Oh dear. Although they are nominally at war with Mardier, we were not expecting them to commit to actual fighting! I doubt Mardier will allow such an incursion. And what of the shift in the balance of power in New Terra? What colonies will be next?" "Perhaps King Fernando-Augusto is so confident that his treasure fleets will fill his coffers for war?" the Royal representative suggested. "Bah! Their negligence in keeping its movements confidential means that any tub that floats will be out there hunting the prize of the century," said the admiral, shaking his head. "So be it. Considering their positions in our current diplomatic negotiations, we cannot intervene to their advantage. And should they persist in their efforts to unlawfully claim land in New Terra, we must consider diplomatic action," declared the man in black, followed by nods all around. "The Crown has come to the understanding that we may see improvements in our relations to Oleon? Are the negotiations proceeding as planned?" the Royal Representative asked. "Nothing is certain, but the tides might be changing..." was the ominous answer. And so the discussion went on, only interrupted by short interviews with the Olean and Eslandian representatives, and one can only speculate as to the outcome. It was indeed a turbulent time... ________________________________________________________________________________ Felt like building a palace style building, and with the recent developments in New Terra, I was handed a perfect use for it, as I feel that these needed comment. Know that Corrington watches closely the balance of power in New Terra, and expects anyone to answer to their actions! And note that the things discussed by these officials are not necessarily the official stance of Corrington, but definitely represents our valid concerns... C&C is, as always welcome.
  4. Elizabethville has been growing in leaps and bounds. The efforts of the WETEC in enticing new settlers to the settlement has been paying off. They have seen an influx of people which has necessitated various industries and services. As any good Corrie would know, education was the key to progressing in the world. With this in mind, Micah had convinced Aaron Jenkins to settle in Elizabethville, and found its very first school. Due to the work needed to be done to settle the land, the class time is in the evenings. Schoolmaster Jenkins has set up a small classroom in the front of his house. During the day time, he has taken up his favorite hobby the most important discipline of recording the happenings of the present so that history will be preserved for the future. He has been several works in progress, including a history of the Corrington Empire. However, his newest work is tentatively titled A History of the Corrington Settlement on the Untamed Island of Lacryma in the Sea of Thieves and the Relations with the Natives There. (He is after all a true historian who would never use few words when more would suffice.) He intends to use this book in five years to teach the younger children. Today, he has been writing about the agriculture that has been taking place on the island. Feel free to open the pages of the history of Lacryma. Notes: This is going to be licensed as a large education build. The book was built as an entry to the Texas State Fair. The books measures 57x38 studs (just under 18x12 inches) with a height of 12 inches. This is by far my largest physical build. The log cabin was the second version attempted which proved far stabler than the one used in Those Smelly Pig Farmers... Oh Bacon! Here is an overview shot of the book. As always, complements, criticism, and suggestions for improvement are welcome.
  5. To review previous builds, check out this link, or to specifically follow Elizabethville, read here. The core of the WETEC is their extensive horse ranches and the sales of the best steeds anywhere. Lacryma has become the new headquarters with the wide open plains suitable for large herds of horses to be raised and trained. Though Micah owns the horse business, with the other four holding a share of the company, it was his father's vision that made their ventures profitable. Alexander of Wolfhaven, rest his soul, was an avid horsemen who bought and bred the best horses he could find. In his honor, Micah had commissioned a marble statue from Belson. Upon its completion, Micah had it loaded upon the companies newest ship, the captured war brig Soupfish. They sailed straight from Belson to Elizabethville. There the statue was placed upon the pedestal built for it. The dedication ceremony consisted of a military parade of all the troops who are being trained on Lacryma, as well as the 12 marines from the Soupfish. The cavalry are expected to be deployed soon to Prio to help end the stalemate that has taken place over the last several months. The divisions are mounted and ready for combat when called.
  6. This is the second part of a multi-part collaborative with Bregir which will consist of our Challenge 4 entries as well as a free build or two. Hope you enjoy and please feel free to make C&C as usual! Also I plan on licensing the tavern as a small artisan in Mooreton Bay. Prior builds: In The Captain's Cabin Following builds: Arriving at Mooreton Bay _________________________________________________________________________ “Major Allcock, you asked me to notify you if our agents heard significant news from Leopoldis, well this morning I have received some troubling correspondence from my contact there” opened ETTC Agent for Alicentia, Colin Jenkins. “Do go ahead my dear Sir, what are our neighbours up to?” asked an instantly interested Dirk. “It appears a large warship has recently arrived in the harbour there, my man claims it is a sixth-rate frigate….” Dirk instantly sat up, that size vessel was larger than any Corrington naval vessel currently in the new world. “A sixth-rate? Is he sure?” he asked. “He is ex-navy, so I assume he would know.” “The vessel is from the Garvian Navy?” asked Dirk. “Well this is where it gets interesting,” said Jenkins, “apparently she was, although her status is now unclear. The crew are rumoured to be serving under letters of marque and it has reported to have been seen flying the black – so I assess it is currently serving as a privateer.” Dirk by now was quite visibly worried. This was indeed major news. The presence of such a large privateer so close to the Corlander possessions of Alicentia and Cocovia was very concerning. The fact it was a Garvian privateer, apparently using the the Garvian settlement of Leopoldis on Alicentia as a base was equally worrying to Dirk, who had a latent fear of conflict between Corrington and Garvey for possession of Alicentia. “This is indeed troubling, is there any other information?” asked Dirk “No, that is all he had to report, that and the name of the vessel, The Black Oak.” Replied Jenkins. “We must find out more. I will need to alert Commander Cooke and Sir Thomas Smaugton on Cocovia, but without more information on the vessels intentions the news is of little value.” Dirk paused, Commander Jonathan Cooke was the Military Governor of Cocovia and Mayor of King's Harbour. Sir Thomas was the mayor of Quinsville, the other Corlander settlement on Cocovia. “Actually Cooke is due to visit here on his way back to Cocovia within the next fortnight. I must have more information to present to him then.” With that the two men exchanged salutations, and Dirk rushed off to plan how to obtain more information. A couple of days later….. Davy Russell, former Captain of the pirate vessel Bonne Voyage, now convict in Mooreton Bay, entered 'The Yellow Mermaid', a seedy tavern, with a suitably disguised Major Allcock. Davy enjoyed a privileged position for a convict – while some of his more roguish former comrades laboured away in penal work parties around the island, the charismatic and educated former pirate had integrated his way into the Major’s inner circle. Using knowledge accumulated over his years of experience as a mariner and his contacts throughout the Sea of Storms and beyond, he provided advice and information to Dirk to assist in the running of the settlement. It was such information that led the two men to this tavern. Yesterday a sailor had appeared in the settlement claiming to be from Leopoldis and bragging about a privateer crew poised to take a prize so big, they would never have to sail again. Davy, knowing the Major was actively looking for information on the rumoured privateer in Leopoldis, had dutifully reported his presence. Dirk, desperate for more information before Commander Cooke arrived, had donned a disguise and had accompanied Davy to the tavern to find out more. On entering the tavern, the barman, an associate of Davy, silently nodded towards a drunken and dishevelled sailor in the corner of the room, who appeared to be mumbling into an empty cup of rum. “Hello matey!” exclaimed Davy. Dirk waited back in the shadows. “Looks like you be needing a refill of that there cup! – Barman, two more of your finest if you please” “We only be having rotgut and you well know it Davy” rejoined the Barman, slamming two cups of sickly smelling rum on the bench. “Aye well, it’s all grog ain’t it!” then Davy turned back to the drunken sailor, who was looking around blankly, startled at this sudden intrusion into his misery and yet not believing his luck in a full cup. “What brings you here friend?” asked Davy. “They kicked me off” explained the indignant drunk. “Who kicked you off what?” “The Captain kicked me off the Oak” explained the drunk as if that made perfect sense to all. “Just kicked me off…. Told me if I ever showed my face around the settlement again they’d keelhaul me…. Me Rotgut Roger. Keelhaul me….. “ As Dirk observed silently, the conversation continued back and forth at a rather painful pace. Davy draw out that the drunk, whose name apparently was Roger, had been run off the Garvian privateer accused of breaking into the rum supply – an accusation Dirk had no problems believing. What was interesting is that the drunk constantly mentioned the huge amount of treasure the ship was expecting to plunder. Could this treasure be from plundering Mooreton Bay? Dirk didn’t think so, surely there wasn’t enough in his small settlement to attract such rumours. However try as he might, Davy couldn’t extract any more from the sailor, who had now lapsed into a drunken stupor, and was incoherently babbling in the corner. The two men turned and left, Dirk generously tipping the barman on the way out. Now he had confirmed the frigate in Leopoldis was a privateer, and one intent on some large scale plunder… but where and or who???? The next day…. Dirk was awoken early in the morning when Xochitl unexpectedly arrived in his quarters bearing news. A Halosian man had been found by her father’s warriors wandering deep in the jungle. The tribesmen believed he was fleeing from Leopoldis, and knowing Dirk’s interest in that place had sent for him immediately. Later in the day, guided by Xochitl and her attendants, Dirk arrived at the scene where a tattered man lay. Several warriors stood around, although none ventured to close to the man, who was clearly not in a good way – pale, with a visible fever and several seeping wounds. Dirk approached and indicated for Xochitl to bring water. “Ho friend, help is here.” Said Dirk in a soothing voice. The man looked up, his cloudy eyes not really seeing. “dying” he croaked. “must warn the fleet…” he gasped. “We’ll have you back in civilisation soon” replied Dirk, although he realised the sad truth, it was too late, the man was clearly dying. Xochitl passed him a piece of paper she had found in the man's pocket. It was a personal letter and quickly scanning it Dirk learned the man was named Juan deLuna and was a treasury clerk from the Eslandolian settlement of Nellisa. “Who are you?” asked Dirk, “kidnapped… taken from Nellisa…. you must warn them….” “Warn who friend, who kidnapped you?” “Pirates, Garvians…… warn the treasure fleet….. the secret is known…. You must warn them….” With that the man made a final effort to clear his vision, unfortunately he must have recognised the red uniform coat Dirk was wearing as he gave a startled gasp. “You’re not Eslandolian!!” he exclaimed. With that what remaining colour was left in his face drained, his eyes rolled back into his head and he died. Dirk stood up, shook his head at the watching Sergeant Gowen, who now approached. “Most interesting Sergeant,” commented Dirk, “It would seem the pieces of our puzzle are coming together” “If you say so Sir,” replied Sergeant Gowan. Dirk stared into the jungle pensively and reviewed what he had discovered. A large Garvian Privateer had arrived in Leopoldis. The crew of the privateer were boasting of a potentially huge prize. Now an Eslandolan man turns up, claiming to have been abducted from Nellisa and who died fleeing his capturers – capturers who were almost certainly those same Garvian privateers. And the dying man clearly concerned with warning the ‘treasure fleet’. Yes the pieces to this puzzle were starting to make sense. Another fusilier approached through the undergrowth. “Sir, our lookouts are reporting the approach of Commander Cooke’s ship” reported the private. “Excellent, let us go and greet him and Don Montoya.” replied Dirk, confident he now had enough to make a report and informed assessment. _______________________________________________________________________ And a final image to prove it's all in the 32x32 footprint!
  7. The next part of our collab for CH IV. (Although this is not an entry, but just a freebuild.) Prior builds: In The Captain's Cabin Pieces Of A Puzzle Following builds: Undercover for the Final Piece Montoya was not at ease. This tiny little vessel was dancing up and down the waves, rushing close-hauled towards Mooreton bay in a most haphazard fashion, and his stomach was not agreeing with him. "Tell me again why I find myself on this fragile little death-trap. The Athena seemed a perfectly fine transport…" he gasped. "The Athena would have taken day and night to tack in here against the wind. And as I am certain you are aware, Ferguson signalled for me to report on board the Ironsides without a moments delay!" Cooke shouted against the wind. As they had approached Mooreton Bay, the lookout had spotted the horrible old Ironsides in the port and, moments later, the signal flags requiring Cooke to report on board for orders from the Admiralty. And for a naval officer, nothing was more important than orders from the Admiralty. "But surely, my friend, this haphazard pace is both dangerous and unwarranted?" Cooke laughed, thrilled with their speed and the prospect of new orders: "Tide and wind waits for no man, my friend!" The Dolfijn The socalled "death-trap" was a small Altonian privateering sloop named the Dolfijn, captured off Tiberia, as it was attacking some local fishermen. It had proven a flyer close-hauled, and Cooke had decided to keep it as a tender to the Athena, a decision he could never have been happier about right now. "But have no fear, doctor - in a moment we will be moored and you will have firm ground under your feet once more!" Cooke knew the doctor as something of a landlubber. "And while you go meet Major Allcock and discuss your beetles, I will meet with Ferguson and find out what orders the admiralty has seen fit to give me! And you may let the good Major know that I will seek him out at first possible convenience." he said, letting the sloop come up against the wind, steering her for the wharf at the customs office. 8. The 'An Holli Corrington College', or The 'Corrish' or 'Red' School to the locals, has been completed in the Eslandolan settlement of Weelond. The school is ultimately the result of correspondence between the Mayor of Weelond, Willem Guilder and the temporary military governor of Alicentia, Major Dirk Allock. Mayor Guilder, concerned regarding the lack of educational facilities in his settlement, wrote to Major Allock in his capacity as a fellow (albeit yet to be confirmed) controller of a settlement, and a Corlander famed for his membership and patronage of the Royal Society of Natural Philosophy. After swift negotiations, Major Allcock agreed that the society would establish an office and educational facility in Weelond. Unable to visit Weelond just yet (although he has plans to do so in the near future), Major Allcock has delegated the responsibility of the new school to Thomas Elliot, a school teacher from Arlinsport. Elliot also dabbles in architecture, so the design of the new school was also left to him. Major Allcock gave some loose direction, the school should ideally be on a medium plot size, and should be a testament to the Corlander dedication to the Sciences and education in general. On arriving in Weelond Elliot found the purchase of a suitable block of land quite difficult, even with a letter of introduction from the Mayor himself. Not surprisingly in a settlement controlled by the very successful merchants of the MCTC, land prices were highly competitive to say the least! In the end Elliot settled for a small, narrow block and secured its lease at a very competitive rate (it was thought too small to be of any real value!). He then proceed to design a three story facility. To highlight this was a Corlander establishment, the only natural colour to build in was of course red - with black and white trim. Unfortunately white stone was in quite high demand, and white washing didn't convey the grandeur Elliot wished to convey, so the white was replaced with light grey. The school as seen from the street with an Eslandolan Soldier patrolling the streets, and from the rear where a small chilli bush has been cultivated - Elliot has developed quite a taste for spicy foods and grows his own supply! The ground floor is used for classes. Mondays and Tuesdays Elliot teaches the children of wealthy merchants and the moneyed class. The essentials of reading, writing and arithmetic are covered (He finds this class most attentive to the mathematical sessions!) as well as a smattering of Natural Philosophy. Wednesdays and Thursdays are a more mature age, with locals interested in Natural Philosophy learning the basics of that science. Fridays and Saturdays Elliot has off, or devotes to his own studies, and Sundays he holds free classes for the poorer children of the settlement who are required to work throughout the week. The middle floor is a devoted living area which is also regularly co-opted for scientific studies. The upper floor is Elliot's Bed chamber and where his white cat Molly can often be found. The whole place is furnished in a rather Spartan style, some may remark it needs a women's touch? Who knows, maybe School master Elliot will find love with a local Eslandolan women? ----------------------------- Something a little different from my usual style, my first attempt at a fully modular house. Heavily based on the design in the excellent MOC found here, I really liked the turret on the front of the building but modified the rear of the building, windows, roof and most obviously the colours! I wanted to use bright 'classic' colours - hopefully the red is not too bright and fits in to the generally more colourful Eslandolan style! I was a bit worried the design maybe a bit modern, but I think it works. The build will be licensed as a small educational property in the settlement of Weelond. Enjoy and as always C&C welcome! Oh and here is an extra view of all the components together!
  9. The Royal Society of Natural Philosophy is pleased to announce the opening of a Botany House in Mooreton Bay, Alicentia. To advance the study of the flora of the New World, The Society has managed to engage the services of renowned Corlander Botanist, Sir Jonah Banks. Banks has set up his quarters in Botany House, a building in Mooreton bay built specially by the society for the study of Botany. Located roughly in the centre of the settlement, the land adjacent to the building has been set aside for future Botanic Gardens - a planned green oasis in the middle of a bustling town! Here Major Dirk Allcock can be see discussing some recent discoveries with Sir Jonah. Meanwhile the society employs a local boy by the name of Billy for gardening. Licensed as a medium educational property in the name of the Royal Society of Natural Philosophy in Mooreton Bay. Hi Everybody. A long promised build for the Royal Society. Not a particularly interesting build, but I wanted to try something larger scale in dark tan bricks. I hope to have something slightly more exciting up early next week for the Society (but in a different location - Capt Wolf, looking at you!).
  10. The new colonies are screaming for vessels, specifically for coastal transport, fishing, and whaling. As not near enough vessels reach the colonies from the old world, entrepreneurial craftsmen in New Terra has set up makeshift shipyards to meet demand. The easiest way to build ships with limited set ups is by constructing them on a slipway and, when the hull is finished, let the whole vessel slide down the rails into the water. This particular slipway is built in King's Harbour and has quickly become known for producing seaworthy and utilitarian (although somewhat broad-bottomed and clumsy) vessel of high quality. These vessels are affectionately known as the King's Harbour Tubs. _____________________________________________________ A take on a medium factory for King's Harbour - I have been planning a full-size shipyard with drydocks for a while, but felt like starting out with something simpler, reflecting the pioneering spirit of New Terra. I expect to outfit the hull later for licensing. Ever since thisbuild, I have wanted to try a brick built hull with that sort of inner skeleton, and I find it worked out well. (Although more expert builders can probably create more organic shapes...) C&C is, as always, welcome and encouraged. Thanks for looking!
  11. Soldiers need somewhere to live too, so a barracks complex has been started in Abigail Park, a reserve close to the centre of the settlement of Mooreton Bay. Constructed of rough convict hewn sandstone, similar to Fort Denison, canny observers will note firing slits in the ground floor of the utilitarian structure. A while ago Major Dirk Allcock was able to arrange for a shipment of the New Pattern muskets that are starting to equip Corlander line regiments back in the old world. The detachment of the Light Company of the 47th Regiment of Foot that he commands will be armed with the new musket as a New World trial. Here, they conduct a demonstration of the new musket. Some Royal Marines, including the newly promoted Captain Stewart , together with some visiting Naval Officers, have come to watch the demonstration, as the new pattern musket has yet to be approved for Marine or Naval use. A quick build mainly to show off the Brick Arms muskets I was able to obtain at Canberra Brick Expo earlier in the month. I'll license the barracks as a residence. Any resemblance in the uniforms on the targets to the uniforms to those of other nations is purely... well intentional... you've got to train how you expect to fight right?!? I'm sure someone will call me a warmonger in outrage but seriously, no malice intended to our bluecoat friends Oh and the cannon design is from Captain Braunsfeld's Eslandolean 8th Army MOC.
  12. Another beautiful day in Quinnsville. Captain Bran is enjoying his coffee when he walkes the streets, listening to the noise of the craftmenship and inhabitants of this small settlement. As he walkes the wooden bridge to the warehouse on the east side of the river he stops and stares at his so called home. A warehouse where he stayed the last couple of weeks. His face lit up, he likes it here, but the hammock on the top floor of this building isn't suitable for a long stay. Captain Bran summons two of his loyal compagnons. The naval officer and a converted sea rat called Jacobus, who does small and short ranged trade businesses for the captain. After a small debate, the men agree on settling in Quinnsville for a longer term. Which basically means they are here to expand the town, set up shop and operate from this port. Captain Bran talked to Sir Thomas Smaugton on claiming the east part of town just across the river, on which the men agreed upon. The first thing to rise beside the warehouse is the second most important thing to being a good leader: Captain Bran's residence. A leader can't be focussed if he has no office or even worse, no good night sleep. Information on the build: 1) 1st freebuild of August 2) location Quinnsville 3) small residence
  13. Rumours throughout Corrish New Terra and beyond of a mysterious organisation consisting of some of the richest and most powerful notabilities of Corrington are spreading fast. Not much is known of its purposes and and plans, but hear-say suggests that it is growing more and more influental. Fueling such rumours is the opening of yet another warehouse, this time in King's Harbour on Cocovia. This island is home to some very exotic goods and demand for these in the old world is growing rapidly. Further, the new colonies need manufactured goods and supplies to support their growth and to handle these flows of goods, organisations and infrastructure is rapidly building up. One such is the newly established warehouse in King's Harbour, licensed by the mysterious ETTC. Located on a line of new stone quays inside the cove, it is already bustling with activity, and the store rooms swiftly filling up, creating the need for an extra outhouse for further goods. Barrels of cocoa for the old world, salted pork for the Royal Navy, and gunpowder for its guns are stored and ready for loading onto the next vessel in need. The presence of Ibn al'Sayeed in the upstairs office and store room might suggest Montoyesque involvement in the ETTC. It sure seems like al'Sayeed is the one in charge of this branch, as he conducts all dealings regarding the goods of the warehouse. Further, his crew appears to be handling much of the logistics of the warehouse. Rumours aside, this warehouse is one of the first to open on the harbourfront of King's Harbour, and its imposing facade sets the bar for buildings in this new settlement. The activity is bound to grow over time, and this is surely not the last warehouse to open its doors in New Terra. _________________________ A warehouse for the ETTC, which will be licensed as a medium commerce. C&C welcome.
  14. As the queen takes notice of Captain Bran's plans to stay in Quinnsville and operate from that location, she is very pleased (if I may speak for her). She sends notice to the Captain. Captain Bran orders his personnel to start planning on how to protect this part of the kingdom.Together with the naval officer and his architects they plan the build of a small tower of the top of a rigde overseeing the east side of town and the stretched seas waving against the reef. the tower top view the grounds Preview of the east side of Quinnsville progress: Information on the build: 1) 2nd freebuild of August 2) location Quinnsville 3) small fort[/font]
  15. A banana plantation has been established just outside the new settlement of Mooreton Bay, Alicentia. Demand for this exotic fruit has risen steeply in recent times, with even Her Majesty herself rumoured to enjoy a good banana now and then! A fast trading vessel can transport the fruit back to the mainland before it spoils and will be almost guaranteed to make a tidy profit. ------------------- Another quick build and most probably my last for the month. Purists will not like the bunches of bananas as I've had to use the same trick as in my Cocoa plantation to make the trees look anything like authentic but I am reasonably certain that there is no way to make a bunch of bananas using just Lego! (more than happy to be proved wrong! ) Licensed as a small plantation in Mooreton Bay, Alicentia.
  16. One of the first businesses to open in any new settlement will usually be a public house and Mooreton Bay is no different. The Corunna Tavern offers newly arrived settlers modest accommodation while at the same time serving refreshing drinks and humble food. In this scene you can see several citizens of Mooreton Bay enjoying refreshments. In the street two troopers of the newly arrived Queen's Own Hussar Regiment ride past and a soldier escorts some convicts to a work party. A detachment of troopers from the Queen's Own Hussar's has been dispatched to Mooreton Bay to provide extra security and mobility. The Hussars are indeed an impressive sight in a dashing black and red coat with a brilliant scarlet peliesse. ------------------------------------- Hi all! I had good intentions for expanding Mooreton Bay this month but it hasn't seemed to come together! I've cheated a bit here and used the upper level of a building from my recent Ainesford Market MOC build to produce a quick tavern for Mooreton Bay. While making a Bricklink order recently I came across the vampire torsos which I had not seen before. Thinking they'd make a perfect torso for Corrington soldiers I had to give it a go and these Hussars are the result. Hope you enjoy. As always C&C most welcome! Licensed as a medium artesian in Mooreton Bay, Alicentia.
  17. Freddie the fisherman launches his small boat every morning before the sun rises. Today he has been particularly lucky, although the shark was a big of a struggle! His stall can be found on one of the beaches adjoining the harbour and is popular with the citizens of Mooreton Bay as he only sells the highest quality fresh fish. A quick build to try out some different roofing techniques and a revised palm tree design (for me). Licensed as a small commerce, Mooreton Bay, Alicentia. As usual C & C welcome!
  18. Shipping could be lucrative business for those who escape the Kraken and brought their goods to market. Jonas Bordington, second son of a Corlander merchant and now captain of the Sphinx after al'Sayeed had been tasked with managing the Montoya Estate and its related businesses, had completed several such runs. With his share of the profits, he and his wife had built a house on the new settlement Elizabethville on the lush green island Lacryma, where his wife would have every chance to enjoy her hobby of horseback riding on the vast grassy plains. It wasn't a flashy house, but very comfortable and roomy for the little family. In fact so roomy that the missus were already talking about adding to the family. _____ Another freebuild, this time a small residence. C&C welcome.
  19. Usually my shipyards just build new ships for use in the fleet of MAESTRO. But with the right offer anyone can request a ship or the refit of one. A while ago I heard that Corrington needed one of their captures refit; I heard it was supposedly the strongest Warschooner ever seen in these waters. Of course, I can't not look at such a unique ship. So I decided to let my shipyards take on the challenge of refitting it. The moment it arrived here I was surprised - it looks like it was almost meant to be a frigate, until someone decided they wanted a schooner instead. No surprise, considering that this ship had been build by pirates, who are known to change their minds often. But the quality of the build was surprisingly good - there wasn't as much to repair as I had suspected; the worst were the sails which were completely destroyed in the battle - it fought hard, but had to surrender eventually. Lets hope it doesn't have to do that again. Hereby I present to you: the former Blood Mean, now named HMS Badger in the hands of Corrington, refitted under undisclosed conditions by Monezterrel shipyards. Here we see the Stern of the HMS Badger. And the obligatory view of the bird. ___________ This is first build I've build in this scale, and I'm think it turned out quite well. I'm especially proud of the way the curve and tumblehome (although it is almost not noticeable) turned out, the only part I feel like it needs to be redone is the bow, but I just have no idea how to do it better.
  20. The largest building constructed so far in the fledgling colony of Mooreton Bay is the newly completed ETTC Warehouse and Offices. Constructed on a large plot of ground with future expansion in mind, the imposing looking brick structure serves as both a warehouse on the ground floor, and offices on the top floor. What is the ETTC you ask? A very good question. Well, we can't tell you too much, but the East Terran Trading Company is a secretive consortium of prominent Corlanders operating in the new world. Unlike certain other faction's trade companies, the primary goal of the ETTC is not profit, although it is of course desirable! Indeed rumour has it a large dividend was just paid out to the companies shareholders! Rather the primary goal of the ETTC is to work to advance the national aims and goals of the crown of Corrington in the New World. And that my friends is enough said regarding the ETTC. Here in the yard, ETTC Foreman Noel Paterson supervisors some sailors loading recently arrived maritime cannon carriages onto a cart for transport to a waiting ship. You may recognise Noel and the cart from his recent work collecting bananas from a local plantation. A hired guard stands at the entrance and a native warrior waits patiently for his chief who is inside the building. On the first floor Colin Jenkins, the principle agent for the company on Alicentia, negotiates with one of the native chiefs. The natives have been supplying raw materials in exchange for goods such as iron cookware and utensils. Jenkins, together with Paterson are the companies only paid employees on Alicentia. Together they look after the companies interests in Mooreton Bay and Corrish Alicentia. ______________________________ A warehouse trying out some techniques with the 'brick' bricks. I would have liked to make the interior bigger (it was originally planned to be 16 studs wide) but I ran out of the 'brick' bricks for the walls. That won't happen again as I have 399 dark tan arriving this week bringing my dark tan total to over 500! I have some plans for those bricks and wanted to play with some different styles with this build. Any hints or tips into this style of 'clean' building with these bricks is very welcome. Licensed as a medium commercial property for the ETTC.
  21. The Emporium consortium has further solified its hold as the dominant commercial force in Port Raleigh, this time by building the official headquarters of the trade house. Port Raleigh has very few tall buildings, the only other one being the Government House, and with its white facade, it became known as the Ivory Tower. Click here for interior view
  22. Captain Matthew Sawkins of the Lady Jacqueline has had this fine but modest house constructed in a prime location in Mooreton Bay, Alicentia. Here he and his wife Hannah enjoy a relaxing drink on their upper balcony with beautiful views of the bay. In the street below a baker originally from New Olean sells his wares in a handcart. The Sawkins' son Craig can be see playing in his bath in the yard (under the watchful eye of his nanny of course - safety first!) _________________________________ A quick house for Mooreton Bay. Licensed as a small residence. C&C welcome!
  23. Captain Bran stocked his newly obtained ship to the ceiling, manned all posts and raised the sails at first dawn. The warehouse in Quinnsville almost empied till the last crate, after this mission inventory has to be checked, orders have to be placed and shipments has to be arranged. We don't want the Queens men to run out of ammo. But first this naval mission. Restock the settlements and meybe even the fleet on our way there.
  24. Just made the original deadline! My first attempt at a waterfall, not sure I'm totally happy with the result, I have some ideas for next time... Hopefully you'll enjoy a somewhat typical Corlander take on the Fountain of Youth myth! __________________________________________________ Establishing a crown settlement is not an easy task. Major Dirk Allcock had never thought it would be otherwise, even so the day to day struggle of supervising the fledgling settlement of Mooreton Bay was taking its toll upon him. Finally he had the opportunity to take a couple of days off. Leaving the colony under the care of Lieutenant Stewart of the Royal Marines, He has set off accompanied by his native friend and companion Xochitl. Talk has swept through the settlement recently of the craze to locate the mythical fountain of youth. Stories of the adventures of the Olean priest Father Tholeau have encouraged many to set off in search of what Dirk is convinced is a misguided waste of time. Fountain of youth indeed! Any good man of science should rightly be sceptical of such superstitious nonsense! And Dirk of course is a good and respectable man of Corrington, a nation known for its love of science and order! After seven good labourers deserted the settlement in search of this fountain, Dirk voiced his frustrations of Xochitl. The beautiful priestess had suggested she take him to see a waterfall some distance into the interior from where the settlement had been established. Dirk, badly in need of a break from the settlement and keen to make some scientific observations in the interior's vast jungle, had agreed and at the first opportunity a small expedition set off. On reaching the falls Dirk's breath was taken away by the beautiful serenity of the scene. As he and Xochitl relaxed lazily on the banks and watched the water cascade into the pool beside them, he felt at peace for the first time in months. Indeed this was just what he needed. No drunken brawls between soldiers, sailors and marines, no convicts to supervise, no free settlers complaining about provisions. Just natural beauty surrounding him. Already he had spotted some examples of an unfamiliar specie of epiphyte with brilliant pink flowers growing in a large tree. His friend Don Montoya would surely be interested in some sketches of these! Dirk felt younger than he had in years... ppfffftt a magical fountain of youth indeed! What poppycock! Surely here was the key to feeling healthier and younger, a peaceful and gorgeous location, good company and plenty of new flora and fauna to investigate - what more could a man of science and order ask for? Not without a sense of humour, when discovering the native people didn't have a name for the falls, Dirk decided henceforth they should be known as Tholeau Falls. Little did he know the name might be more fitting than he had ever imagined... and a picture without figs in case you're interested!
  25. Do not interfere - Eslandola Court Case While Captain Bran and his companion Thomas Ward were debating on the docks about the New Worlds and the adventures that were to come. All of the sudden the captain noticed a new(ish) piece hanging from Thomas' belt. He asked him about it. Thomas showed the weapon and started a story not long ago. For the story I had to copy a build by Phadeout... source/original moc: Meanwhile, In The De La Calle Estate, Terelli Thomas telling: Last summer I was restocking the basements of De La Calle Estate, when I heard a noise. I hid in an empty container when the voice increased. A brief moment later I heard a shot and when I peeked over the edge, I saw Don Gonzola and a mysterious woman leaning over the dead body of my old friend Jaime. Minutes later, they were both gone and when I stepped out of my hideout, I found this weapon laying next to Jaime. I took it, so I could come forward when an arrest were made. Captain Bran listened to Thomas' story, grabbed the weapon and threw it in the ocean. "Unfortunately, we cannot interfere with the issues of the other colonies". "Let them sort this out themselves". A little disappointed Thomas nodded. Both men watched the circles in the water disappear and went back to work. All for Corrington, all for the Queen.
