    The Northland - Relief Map

Hello Here comes the newest moc out of THE BRICK TIME - Building-yard The Northland - Micro Scale About 150 hours of work and nearly 2000 bricks flows in this project. A map of the Northland. The continent where all our story´s happens. First have a look at the facts: Scale: 1 Stud - about 3,2 Miles The map is a diagrammatic representation. The scale isn´t fixed. For example: The town´s are with intent bigger, because of their important meaning. But that downs´t mean, that they are really that big. One tree you see is a whole forrest in real. In the north lays the Loka-Massiv, a impregnable mountain range, and home of the barbarian tribes. To the south, behind the border lays a temperate zone and the realm: Northland. The urban and south is the granary of the whole continent. The three large towns are: Grimmhavn - Gate to the northland (located in the south) Dunholm - Capital (located in the middle of the urban south) Wehrhavn - largest harbor and home of the fleet (located in the north-west) Find out more on the FlickR gallery and on THE BRICK TIME. 2. The Castle theme has been around since 1978. Bricklink calls the sets before 1982 "Classic Castle" - what is the distinction between these sets and later sets? Is there a different point where Castle collectors draw the line for the "classic" period?

    Wolfpack Castle

Hi! Since LEGO had no chance to throw a set of Castle Wolfpack, excluding 6075 for being little more than a tower I built this, to finally have a big and proper settlement. Not much to say. Despite the similarity of my old castle, this was started from scratch. I have a habit of making one or two pictures to my buildings so only have two. In this I have incorporated the yellow Guarded Inn where I used the parts I painted the yellow wall corner. You can see the results and comment.
  4. So I hope this is not an entry that anybody else took before I do now! If so please don't blame me too much, but I couldn't find any entry in this forum concerning this topic! So what I wanna do here is the following: As a beginner it is very hard to start a collection! Many questions have to be answered! This topic should help anyone who is interested in building his own creation out of LEGO and needs some advice which bricks and wich colors of bricks he should own before getting started. From my point of view it is important to have a wide range of different bricks in different colors before starting to build his/ her MOC. Because otherwise you won't be able to be as creative as possible. After reading the last sentence, everyone should shout out: You are silly! That's a lot of money to spend before I can get started! Exactly that's what this entry tries to figure out: Which parts do I need to get started as soon as possible! And here I need your help! Please post in this thread which parts you think someone at least needs to get started building a castle for example. Or if you are interested in the space theme and/ or already built something - then you have the experience others do not have, and here is the place where you can share! What is needed: First you should post what can be built out of the bricks you post. e.g.: Architecture, Castle, Forest, ... Second, give a short overview which colors you needed to build your creation. e.g.: for a castle you need dark bluish gray, light bluish gray, black, reddish brown, ... Third, are there any kinds of bricks that been needed especially to build a great MOC. e.g.: for a castle you surely need these bricks: 98283.jpg and/ or 60808.jpg From my point of view the quantity of parts is not needed - everyone should make his own decision how many of a kind he/ she want to own. Finally I will sum up all your posts in this post, so everyone has a quick overview what the community came up with! I give you an example: To build a realistic Forest you need the following: Colors: Plenty of dark green, bright green, green, olive green, black, reddish brown, dark reddish brown Kinds of bricks: These parts you should not miss in your collection: 2417.jpg, 2423.jpg, 30093.gif, 55236.gif If there are any other colors or bricks you use when creating a realistic forest please post it and I will add them in my post. So I am looking forward to read your suggestions and of course if this topic make sense! I will accept any feedback from you! If you say, no we do not need this stuff or you know where I can find something similar in the www please post it!
  5. Hello I finished current project recently. It is a 3D map in micro scale of the northland. Now aim up to make pictures of it for a well presentation. But it isn´t that easy to get in a view i want it to. So let me show you some pictures for a preview. You see Wehrhavn, home of the fleet and one of the realms largest towns. To the right, you can see the entrance to the "Reichs-Minen". You see the "Rosenblatt Sea", the northern border with castle "Falkengrund" and Wehrhavn to the left. The Loka Mountains, home of the barbarians, are located behind the northern border. --- I hope to get the pictures of the entire map ready at the weekend. Till this: Learn more about up THE BRICK TIME and our Flickr Gallery. Bye bye BoB
  6. I am planning on a castle to build, but am at a crossroads to what shape to build the castle. I am building it on a 60x28 area. My inspirational shape is this castle built by Ecclesiastes: I want to build a mountain-type castle that doesn't have much of a courtyard, but has a few taller towers besides the keep. The castle I want to build would be a little smaller than the link, but still roughly the same shape, with the gatehouse leading to the keep, and the turning toward a taller tower on a larger rock. Any shape suggestions would be highly appreciated. Cheers
  7. Okay so I got the idea of making this topic from this topic and I remember Knights Kingdom 2, you know the one Castle theme that have these guys. Anyway would anyone like to see a Castle theme Action Figure with it's own build or the HF build or you don't want to see a Castle Action Figure. For me I would like to see Lego making Castle Action Figure but with the HF build and with there own armor instead of having just the HF armor because it's annoying for it just being HF armor with small recolors. Another thing is that I like it to have 6 character no more, no less but that maybe something we would already see.
  8. Hello all! This was my Collaborative display with my good friend Ben Cossy for Brickvention 2014. ^ Im 16 and Ben is 17 It was a last minute decision on the judges part to increase the category age. Oh well! We only found out bahnhof was German for "station" after this was all built! Me and Ben will be back at Brickvention 2015! So look forward to another giant Castle/Fantasy MOC Thanks for checking this out! ~Eli
  9. The Darven City, "Baruk Khazâd" - "Axes of the Dwarves" A "nano-scale" castle. My little contribution to the SSCC. Even though it is not even close to as small as some other entries, I had tons of fun designing this. Enjoy! Soli Deo Gloria, ~Matthew~

    [MOC] 79002 Better Tree

Loved the tree from 79002, with a bit of modding it can be made to look real nice and be pretty big without being overly part intensive
  11. Here it is, my second MOC dedicated to my setting, Season of the cherry blossoms. This time, it's a board game for two players, with lots of minifigures and with the possibility to customize the playing map for endless fun. The game manual (be kind to me, it's home made) and building instructions (from LDD, so you know how they look like) can be found on my blog: http://seasonofthech...ego-board-game/ A gallery of photos: If you like it, and would like to support it, you can find it on LEGO Ideas: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/75136

  14. I am an experienced old AFOL Castle. I think the essence of this beloved game is hiding between the parts of the old sets, and we've all grown up with them and have been an important part in our life. It may seem a bit radical, but the sets from 1995 does not catch my attention at all, either by the absurdity of construction or because they give more importance to the minifigures that assembly (which I find unacceptable in building a game) or the ridiculous new pieces designed specifically for something. For example, in September 6091 seems too ugly. I can understand that is designed for children to play with the figures inside the castle but the almost total absence of walls is unacceptable in a castle. I've always liked the Castle line, I find endearing. Heads with LEGOLAND smile, poorly decorated torsos ... Now come silkscreened minifigures from top to bottom, which I do (not to mention prices licensed minifigures). With that, I will not insult or question the judgment of anyone, I bring only my subjective view. Returning to the above, I have never bought a set that is not of the Castle line. My collection, which I keep in boxes assigned to each type of piece, consists of sets of the 80s and early 90s.'s Army that seems more interesting is the Wolfpack, perhaps because the "vultures" Castle, as they are looting and stealing. Arguably are bandits, possibly nomads (as they only have a set of construction and is a small tower) 6075 and his lonely and secluded world attitude. 6038 looks set me to the top of Castle land vehicles, by design, color and minifigures. In his day buy 3 to form an army along with several minifigures 6075 also ended up buying. Currently I am creating strengths with the characteristics of sets of each army. I am also determined to complete the collection of sets of Castle 80/90 faltándome several of the most sought will buy soon. I hope to contribute something to this forum, and my creations are photos and information or help of any kind.
  15. Hi! I would like to present my new MOC - Forestmen´s Outpost. It was inspired by the Forestmen theme, especially the sets 6054 Forestmen´s Hideout and 6066 Camouflaged Outpost. I had also an idea of combining the warg from The Hobbit theme and the Wolfpack faction. I hope you´ll like it.

  17. Hey there An old one, but still in our inventory. Wochenender builds that troop transporter for our Grimmhavn project in 2011. We never made well photo´s, but a few days ago i finally got the time. It´s a sailing ship bolt for transporting of troops over seas. There is room for up to 20 soldiers and cannonry on bug and astern. Let´s have a look: Find out more on: THE BRICK TIME and on our FlickR gallery. Bye BoB
  18. Hello, folks! I built this MOC for Expo LUG Brasil 2013 and only now I’m sharing the pictures on Eurobricks. This project was a dream that come true when I got all the bricks to do that. Of course it’s my version of just one part of the all magical castle, specially the choice to use the white color on back wall (the original is bright yellow), but I liked the final effect to the Gatehouse. During the Expo, with the help of others AFOLs, we created a scene to complete the layout around the castle. There are more pictures on my flickr for others scenes. Enjoy! 19. The Chosen Minifigure

    Lego Castle 2013-Present Value.

Hey there, this is the chosen Minifigure with a big topic: The value of the lego castle sets. Not PPP value, no. Fun value, moc value, and Minifigure value. Let's hypothetically say that I have NO castle, fantasy, Viking or other medival sets of any kind. I wish to get into the theme, already loving some other themes. I get to the store, with enough money for any of the sets, but I only want to buy one. Which set should I get, with the best Minifigure/fun value? Or, say I'm a moccer. Which set would be best? Lastly, on a personal note, Dragon mountain or Kings castle?
  20. Hello All, Here is my entry to GoH Challenge 2: Category A - Team Simon. Unfortunately, due to the contest ending tonight, I have not finished the story yet, but am working on it. I will probably edit it tomorrow with the full story, but meanwhile here is a quick summary: Feren and his men were traveling to help his friend Simon get rid of the Drow from his lands. During one of their rest stops, Feren sent out his elite Rangers to scout ahead. When one of them didn't return, he and his lead archer/friend went out to search for him, knowing the general direction the missing Ranger took. Due to Feren's inhuman hearing ability, he heard whispering, and following it found this supposedly ruined castle, that was almost rebuilt. He and his friend sneaked up to the wall (Feren started climbing up), and heard the Ranger betraying their company to the Drow, and where they will be in a week. That is what this build is about, I was going to continue the story in my 2 other entries, but (due to the time limit again, and life) I was unable to build them. So here is the summary of what was going to happen. Build 2 Category B: When the Ranger came back, they grabbed him, put him in chains, and brought him to Feren. However, he explained that he was actually leading the Drow into a trap. He told the Drow Leader the fastest way to intercept Feren's company, which happened to lead the Drow's army through a narrow rocky valley between 2 cliffs, the perfect ambush spot. Build 3 Category C: Feren led his men to the cliffs and split them, putting half his men on both sides. They spent the next couple days preparing for this ambush (gathering rocks, traps, etc). When the Drow arrived, the attack would begin (Which is what the MOC would have been about, the full scale attack/ambush). That is the full story summary for what I "was" going to do for this Challenge, but didn't have time to build them all. For the Glory of Avalonia, and Go Team Simon! Thanks for viewing! Soli Deo Gloria! ~Matthew Oh~
  21. Entry for Book II Challenge II Category B for deGothias side. The plague devastates Avalonia. Even the avalonian island Moria wasn't spared by the wave of illness. So Sir Moriartus called Mitgarda for medics, because of the good relations between him and some of the lords there. Aaron lost his wife and children in the last cruel war in Mitgardia and decided to study the old scriptures of medic. He wants to save other people from the dolor he got and save as much lives as possible. But the habitation of other people always reminds him of his dead family, so he lives solitary from the village on a small rock in the sea. In his small home he has everything he needs. Every day he paddle to the coast to heal people from the plague. The fight seems absurd, but Aaron tries his best to save the inhabitants of Moria. The free time Aaron has in his home, he spends on reading and rearing of swans. Explore all the details on MOCpages! I hope you like it and feel free to post your thoughts about this creation. :) Jonas
  22. Set Number: 70404 Name: King's Castle Theme: Castle Year of Release: 2013 Pieces: 996 Minifigures: 7 Price: $99.99 USD Links: Flickr image gallery Bricklink Brickset This is a review of the new King's Castle set of the 2013 Castle line. This set has the highest price, the most pieces, and the most minifigures of any set in this line. It will be the last reviewed in collaboration with my brother, who has contributed the photos and co-wrote this review. 70404 King's Castle by drrca, on Flickr Box: 70404 King's Castle by drrca, on Flickr The box contains a DSS, a new style brick separator, and three booklets that cover the nine or so bags. 70404 King's Castle by drrca, on Flickr Minifigures: The Crownies have one longbow archer with the gorget and mail torso print, one crossbowman with the tunic print, one king with leg and torso prints unique to this set, and one knight with leg and breastplate prints like the knights in the other sets. 70404 King's Castle by drrca, on Flickr All of them have nice back printing too. 70404 King's Castle by drrca, on Flickr The knight is like those in the smaller sets but has a unique head with mutton chops and an expression of aggression or frustration. 70404 King's Castle by drrca, on Flickr The Red Dragon figures are just like those in the smaller sets and have alternate expressions on the reverse sides of the heads as well as back printing on the torsos. 70404 King's Castle by drrca, on Flickr 70404 King's Castle by drrca, on Flickr The vehicle: Here's an image of the siege engine with the provided sticker applied to its curved slope. The arm of the catapult flings forward when the the dragon head is briskly pushed back. 70404 King's Castle by drrca, on Flickr The fortress: The back or king's tower half of the castle consists of three segments which connect where you seen the side view of the light bley panels on the front side and where you see the the tall dark bley slopes on the back side. The room with the door oddly blocked from opening by the chest outfront is entirely empty inside (the room that is, the chest is filled with chrome gold parts highlighted below). 70404 King's Castle by drrca, on Flickr 70404 King's Castle by drrca, on Flickr The front or gatehouse half of the castle again consists of three segments; the two on each side are more or less identical to the two on either side of the king's tower (just without the jail doors and with a dark brown round table instead of a reddish brown barrel but the clip to attach the staircase is mirrored if switching its side is desired). Inside the gatehouse, the upper spindle draws the portcullis up and the lower spindle the drawbridge. 70404 King's Castle by drrca, on Flickr 70404 King's Castle by drrca, on Flickr These are various parts of interest including a 2x2 inverted tile! 70404 King's Castle by drrca, on Flickr Here's how the new barding looks on the king's horse. 70404 King's Castle by drrca, on Flickr The extra pieces. 70404 King's Castle by drrca, on Flickr Here's a size comparison with the gatehouse from the smaller Gatehouse Raid set. 70404 King's Castle by drrca, on Flickr Here it is with the King's Tower switched out for the gatehouse minus one of its smaller side segments. 70404 King's Castle by drrca, on Flickr Since they are the same length, the two said segments can also be included - one in each of the two side walls of the castle - in a closed, square castle without the larger center gatehouse segment. 70404 King's Castle by drrca, on Flickr Side to side all the sets look like this. 70404 King's Castle by drrca, on Flickr Ratings: Design: 4/5 - The set is designed decently, with a stronger structure than I anticipated. The color schemes work well, and the brown and dark tan give a subtle yet needed touch to the otherwise pastel castle. The design of the gatehouse is well done, as the drawbridge and portcullis function smoothly and without problems, yet the castle is hardly furnished (which is almost to be expected, considering the past castles in the LEGO Castle lines). Build: 3/5 - Building this set wasn't very interesting, as the two wall sections are nearly identical, as are the two corner towers, and it seems like half of this castle is made up of large <insert that tiresome argument> wall pieces. This set doesn't compare to 10223 Kingdoms Joust, which was still repetitive, but has many more (and smaller) pieces than this castle, which is of a similar price to the joust. Paying twenty US dollars more for the joust set can get you 577 more pieces. That means that the joust set has over 1.5x the number of pieces at 1.2x the price. Playability: 4/5 - The castle has a good number of minifigures to play with, and has a treasure, jail, horse, and two catapults, as well as the complex gatehouse door and another door in the back. There's also the removable panel for an escape. Parts: 4/5 - There are a number of new parts introduced here. The pieces overall are decently useful to builders of castle-themed creations. New king minifigure prints are introduced here, as well as a new gold color for the king's crown piece. Price: 3/5 - Even though the large castle in every LEGO castle line is just around 100 US dollars and despite that this one has a higher piece count than previous $100 castles, this set somehow seems undeserving of that price. Other than the castle structure and figures, all you get is a small wheeled catapult. The 2007 fantasy castle (7094 King's Castle Siege) had a dragon, which I'd take over the catapult if given the option. Additionally, it had 10 figures rather than the seven of this castle. Granted, the 2010 Kingdoms 7946 King's Castle had no enemy vehicles or catapults and had even fewer parts. Although this new set ranks as the third largest castle set ever produced (with only the 2009 Medieval Market Village and the 2012 Joust having more pieces), the <insert that tiresome argument> pieces seem so useless and ugly and the lack of a bigger enemy vehicle is very apparent. Overall: 4/5 - This is a good set for its playability and minifigures. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone not building medieval creations, as the <insert that tiresome argument> pieces are practically useless to non-castle builders. I wish that the Iron Builder Competition would make use of the 1x4x5 panel or the 3x3x6 corner panel just to prove me wrong and convince me that people aren't wasting their money in accumulating all of these pieces in this set. Castle Ideas

Hello everyone who is seeing this post. I am planning a MOC build of a castle and need some ideas as to what parts of the castle to build. The dimensions are 60x60, but I am wanting to split it up into quadrants of 30x30; building one section, and attaching it to the next and so forth. I don't wnat to build a complete castle with outer walls, but I do want to add a keep. Any ideas on what buildings or structure on this? Thanks
  25. I wanted to create a rounded tower using the hinge plates as a base and moving up from there using 1x2s of various heights. However, I can't get the hinge plates to create a circle with equal quadrants. I want it to be round enough, but not too round. Can someone give me a few sets of angles I could use to do so?
