Marvel Studios 10 Years CMF MOC

Here's another one of my finished series! This time it was Marvel! Just thought I'd share :)
  2. Here are some MOCs using minifigures and parts from the latest series of collectible minifigures (CMFs), Series 18. Unfortunately, you can't see inside the dragon-man's mouth very well. He has the same head as the tree stump carnivorous plant. Should I re-shoot him? Questions? Comments? Carnivo-botanophobia?
  3. Here's another series I made of some famous celebrities to go along with the 90th Oscars this Sunday.

    [MOC] Playstation CMF Series

Hi there! I just thought that I'd come on here to share my latest CMF Series creation. After polling people it was decided that my next series would be Playstation. And without further ado... If you like what you see and want to see what my next series will be, check me out on https://www.instagram.com/ashnflash/ or https://www.flickr.com/photos/126310952@N08/ If you've got any comments or suggestions. Just post them below or private message me! Thanks so much!

[9v MOC] CMF vig: March Harriet

Hello everyone! What kind of ideas pop into your head when you hear of a "cmf 8x8 vignette contest"? Mind you, I eventually thought of Micromotor, 9V, Fiber Optics and a matching figure capable of delivering the goods (hint: it did). Here's what came out of that idea... Just a dance club, folks! Nothing to see here, carry on... It is fairly tall for a vig, but it certainly works give the space restrictions. The dim lights were a pain to film in my setting, although I tried my best. The show must go on, no excuses allowed! And no regrets for that matter. Welcome the Catwoman from the Batman Movie franchise! Double the fun!! Some technical shots. The old 9V system is invaluable for how smoothly it integrates into Lego System. Fitting the fiber optics element into 8x8 was one hell of a task. At times I felt like a car thief on a job... The floor, oh, the floor! Don't even ask. Some bits and pieces. The pole absolutely had to be chrome - a choice afterwards regretted... I dare you to find a sound, functional and purist solution of proper length if you don't believe me. A rubber wheel was the only option of attaching the piece as far as my knowledge of pieces goes. ...And the heat goes on... Now that's a club I wouldn't at all mind visiting... Hope you had a great time here, be sure to visit soon! And something tells me you might just do that... Thanks for your attention! Let me know if you had as much fun as I did! x)
  6. Here's my series of 18 figs: 1. Fisherman of Aikapu: Fishing is an important occupation on the Island of Aok. This fisherman prides himself in being the best. Though, if all his stories were true then he would have speared more fish than could fill the Island from north to south! Front: Back: 2. Canoe Maker: The people of Aikapu may not be as technologically advanced as the rest of the Island of Aok, but what skills they do have they do well. This carpenter works hard to improve his design with each new canoe he makes. Front: Back: 3. Medicine Woman: Knowing what herbs to use when someone is hurt is this minifigure’s specialty. She may look mad, but that’s just because she’s tired of having to constantly deal with the people of Aikapu accidentally stepping on small, sharp edged objects! Front: Back: 4. Cocidius: A powerful creature born of fire and wrath. He is the self-proclaimed god/ruler of the island though he has a hard time getting the people of Aok to follow him. He has many agents in each area of the island and rules through fear. Front: Back: 5. Luigi the Green: This fearsome warrior is a veteran of a thousand battles. He fights to defend the honor of the Noble Green Family, one of four families inhabiting the land of Mimsy. He and his troops ride giant praying mantises into battle against the forces of evil. Front: Back: 6. Jamie the Yellow: The land of Mimsy is known for its oversized plant and insect life, but is it big enough for Jamie’s ego? He always has a broad grin stretching across his face and is constantly sweeping back his hair to make sure he looks his best. Front: Back: 7. Boris the Blue: The Noble Blue Family has a rich history of being one of the most stable of the families in Mimsy. Boris upholds this tradition by never taking an extreme position. However, even he recognizes that Hathor’s decision to side with Cocidius is a foolish one and he fights against her along with the other families. Front: Back: 8. Hathor the Red: Leader of the Noble Red Family, she has decided to throw her lot in with Cocidius. Her troops rush into battle on giant wasp steeds. She sometimes gets tired of carrying her staff around and will relegate the task to her least favorite lackey. Front: Back: 9. Blacksmith: Nadindel is home to many races, none of them human, and they all know a good weapon when they see one. This blacksmith is one of the best in the land and takes great pride in her work. Her blades are the sharpest, almost as sharp as her wit. Front: Back: 10. Nadindel Elder: The Elder had served Nadindel faithfully for many years. He sought to keep the various races living in harmony, which was no easy task! The heavy load of leadership had brought lines of age to his face, but also wisdom and knowledge. Front: Back: 11. Cartographer Faun: Living on an island, there was only so much land for cartographers to map. But what they lacked in area they made up for in detail. This faun’s maps were best known for perfectly charting every turn in every river as well as the best fishing holes! Front: Back: 12. Red Goblin Emissary: One of the craftier races on Aok, the red goblins were known for their wiles. Most of them had sided with Cocidius. This emissary served to relate Cocidius’ wishes with the land of Nadindel. He does so with no mercy in voice. Front: Back: 13. Wukong: Sometimes called “The Monkey King” because of his primate like features, Wukong serves to protect any who wish to be free from Cocidius’ wrath. Wukong has traveled the known world and has served in many different roles. But for now he is content to live in Keyama. Front: Back: 14. Palace Guard: Many have pledged their loyalty to Wukong. Some of them have been assigned to guard the palace. Many of Cocidius’ followers would like nothing better than to infiltrate the palace and it’s this man’s job to keep them out. And sometimes he has to break up the ghosts if they get too unruly. Front: Back: 15. Keyama Ghost: Keyama is home to a number of tribes of ghosts. They were once noble families who just never left even after death. They carry with them all the memories of their past lives which can lead to some old family squabbles coming up again from time to time. Front: Back: 16. Nervous Curator: Wukong has a great collection of books and artifacts. Some of them are rare because of their age, some because of their value. The curator has been employed in their protection for many years now, but that doesn’t stop him from being worried that something may happen one day. Front: Back: 17. Leander Explorer: The Leander race is known for its cat-like features. This includes a heightened awareness of one’s surroundings which makes them perfect for the task of exploration. In addition to being ready to explore, this Leander is also ready to defend his party against any would be attackers. Front: Back: 18. Xehanort the Heartless: A foul creature that inhabits the seas around Aok, Xehanort seeks to destroy all travelers in her path. No one quite knows her origins and no one has lived long enough to ask her. But many believe she was once a beautiful fairy whose love was spurned causing her to begin a life of vengeance. Now all she knows is destruction. Front: Back: The Complete Series:

They make a complex calculation about what was the deed, and they can't return during that time. If the time is right, the outcasted must find a way to get home.
  8. Hello everybody. I may use this idea to refresh the game: do you want a game in which every minifigure faces only the one from its own series (excluding ELF and SCARECROW which would obviously win 3 and 11) and then doing a final mashup for the new winner? This could speed up both this and any future game. Please vote in the poll. HELLO everybody! These are the 80 minifigures for the new game starting FEBRUARY 10th if there will be enough partecipants. Please vote in this poll to help me decide. Thanks!
  9. I wanted to reach out and ask people's opinion on the current format of the CMF Series. I also created this to discuss the series in a different way. I believed talking about the current rota in the other CMF threads would derail the threads. So, I must ask what is your opinion?
  10. Citizens of the city of Bandari in the land of Mwamba An entry into "A Safe Haven", the Fifth Anniversary Challenge, Category B In the land of Mwamba, an large island located in the tropics, near the equator, dwell many different peoples. Like on mainland Historica, where elves, dwarves, orcs, humans, and countless other races coexist in relative harmony, so too is the case in Mwamba. In the harbor city of Bandari, located on the northeastern coast, elves predominate, as they founded the city many long ages ago; but humans are found in plenty, particularly in the roles of merchants and shopkeepers, and a robust civilization of gnomes has grown up to nearly rival that of the Mwambian elves, though underground as gnomish cities are. Centaurs also trot the streets of Bandari, friendly to the elves, at least. Pale skin is not seen here, except on outsiders who have come to the island from afar, as the sun shines hot all through the year, with a short pause for a rainy season or occasional ocean storm. The humans: 1. Panga the Dragon Knight Panga belongs to the ancient human order of Dragon Knights, who long ago fought and killed off the dragons on their side of the island, bringing peace to the human settlements. He is an unwelcome sight in the city of Bandari, however, as the elves who rule the city live in harmony with the dragons and look with suspicion on all who have sworn vows in that dragon-slaying brotherhood. 2. Mkate the Baker Mkate, though human, is much sought-after in Bandari for her buffaloberry tarts and cocoa-bean scones, and the other products of her ovens grace many a table and fill many a belly. When her daily baking is done, she can be seen walking the streets of the city selling her baked goods. Her skills have made her wealthy, as seen by her elaborately embroidered bodice. 3. Anyo the Hunter Anyo is no ordinary hunter, taking down the giant herdbeasts of the plains or fierce predators of the forest; rather, he roams the streets of Bandari and kills the large rodents that terrorize the homes of the residents. He is an expert marksman with his bow, despite having lost an eye years ago from a vicious attack of one of the rodents he now hunts. 4. Ganga the Ranger Ganga is one of the most trusted men in all of Bandari; whenever, of course, he is actually in Bandari. He spends most of his time in the wilderness, scouting with the elves, guiding travelers across the treacherous plains and mountains, and fighting with bandits along the trails. Few besides the elves have his level of woodlore and knowledge of the wild, and fewer still return time after time still alive and in one piece. It is said that the striped cloth around his waist was the blanket his mother left him in, which later became his loincloth as he was raised by lions and other forest beasts, and now serves as a belt. 5. Biashara the Merchant Biashara is the most well-known merchant in Bandari, largely because he sells goods that no one else can, merchandise imported from far away across the sea and delivered to no one but him. He made his start delivering the whisky of the famous Pombe the elvish distiller from Bandari to the other regions of Mwamba, and continues to be the exclusive distributor of that prized spirit, but he has capitalized on that success to become fabulously wealthy, yet still directly involved in the day-to-day running of his empire. The gnomes: 6. Chombo the Gnomish Handyman Chombo may not look like much, but he keeps the machinery of Bandari running like a song. His magnifying glasses allow him to see the finer technical details with great precision, never losing a screw, even the tiniest ones. Pombe relies upon Chombo to keep the various stills of his distillery running, and it is Chombo who makes sure the dragon hatching ground's underground furnace keeps the eggs at the perfect temperature. 7. Bunda the Gnome King Bunda maintains his underground kingdom with strict discipline, running everything like the clockwork that his technicians so meticulously design and tend. He spends hours each morning combing out his beard to give it the proper volume and shine. He loves gold, and decorates everything he can with the warm tones of his favorite metal, accented with the burgundy hues of his favorite wines. 8. Injini the Gnomish Tinkerer Injini is the brains behind many of the gnome kingdom's many technical marvels. It is said that he can make chunks of black rock move a wagon, though no one--besides Injini himself, of course--has seen it work yet; but clouds of steam seem to follow him wherever he goes. He developed a new type of glass, and discovered a revolutionary technique for tinting it, resulting in the rose-colored safety glasses he always wears. He has yet to lose a limb or suffer serious injury in his inventing work, but those close to him say it is only a matter of time. Injini, looking at the world through his safety glasses, however, begs to differ. 9. Duki the Gnome Guard Duki is one of the many guards who surround King Bunda day and night. Heavily armored, and getting up there in age, nonetheless Duki remains spry and light on his feet. The double bladed ax he carries is rumored to be no ordinary ax, but instead some sort of new device invented by Injini using unknown black powders. Like so many of the gnomish marvels, however, no one has seen them work besides their inventors and owners. To date, no one has been foolish enough to attempt to attack Bunda's people in war and put the rumors to the test. The elves: 10. Pombe the Distiller Famed the world over for his fine whiskys, Pombe is one of the most popular elves in all of Bandari. Always ready with a dram and a smile, Pombe's distillery is the best spot in Bandari to relax after a long day or meet an old friend. The pleasant amber color of his whisky, combined with the smoky undertones, cause troubles to melt away and the world to become a better place. 11. Chuma the Blacksmith Chuma is known for the quality of his blades, as even the elf princes and the dragonriders seek him out; yet his work is probably seen more frequently by the residents of Bandari in the iron rings that bind together the barrels coopered by Mbao and then filled by Pombe's whisky. His clientele, besides the high elves, includes Injini, who prizes the finery of his tools, and many of the centaurs of the area, who insist that nobody shoes a centaur better than Chuma. He wears a dragon-decorated leather apron to advertise his importance to the dragonriders. 12. Bahari the Sailor Bahari has the responsibility of following the shoals of fish off of the northern and western coasts of Mwamba, catching them, and bringing them back to feed to the dragon hatchlings of the Hatchery, since it is easier to catch the fish in the sea than to herd cattle on land to feed the voracious appetites of the growing flyers. When he is not out in his larger fishing boat looking for the swarms of sharks, tuna, and other large fish, he takes his smaller craft out for the smaller fish right outside the Bandari harbor to sell in the market. He knows his way through any storm and can navigate either with the fancy compass made specially for him by Injini or else by the stars, wind, and the smell of the water. 13. Mbao the Cooper Mbao occupies the small shop between Chuma's smithy and Pombe's distillery, where his craft is plied exclusively on behalf of Pombe's whisky. No one makes a better barrel than Mbao, with tighter seams and less loss through evaporation than is typical for barrels from other coopers. Mbao's skill has seen his fortunes rise alongside Pombe's, and is himself a wealthy elf. 14. Mkuu the Elf Lord Mkuu is the prince of the elves, the lord of the dragonriders, and the governor of the region around and including Bandari. His skills as a rider are unparalleled, and his wisdom in council is much sought after by humans, gnomes, centaurs, and elves alike. His dragon, the black Nyeusimoto, is seen soaring through the skies all around Mwamba, an image of strength and hope to those in distress. The other dragonriders trust him in all things, and only Mkuu's father, the venerable Mfalme the Wise, has more power on the island. 15. Kufunzi the Dragon Trainer Kufunzi is an old dragonrider, one who has seen it all and yet lived to tell the tale. It is said that he was the first elf to successfully ride a dragon, subduing the proud creature to his will somehow, though the exact details are surrounded by legend and Kufunzi himself never talks about his past in any detail. His role is now to train the dragons that hatch at the Hatchery, as well as their riders. He carries a staff to hook an unruly dragon around the neck, and always has a bribe of food of some kind or other. He is covered with scars from many a recalcitrant student, and is blind in his one remaining eye, yet nothing escapes his notice. 16. Hamisha the Exiled Elf Hamisha was exiled away from Mwamba many years ago, for some crime that she will never speak about, but is rumored to be theft of a dragon egg. She has passed the centuries living in Hesperia, in the westernmost part of Avalonia, and became one the most trusted members of Princess Galaria's wolfriders. Now she has been exiled again, this time from Hesperia by King Fingolë the Golden, and is sailing back to her original home with Galaria, Henjin Quilones, and their companions aboard the Nagra Luca, hoping that she might find a warmer welcome from her old people. 17. Winda the Elf Scout Winda is the younger sister of Mkuu, and is thus a princess of the elves. She serves as an adviser on her brother's council in her role as the leader of the patrols of elves that roam the island, scouting for threats that might arise. She is adept with the bow she carries and has never been seen to miss her target, though the others on the council whisper that her true target is to become a dragonrider like her brother; thus far that goal has eluded her. 18. Yoka the Dragon Nurse Yoka is the overseer of the Hatchery, the place where female dragons come to lay their eggs, and where the eggs are kept safe until they hatch. Once the dragonets crack out of their shells, they are fed and raised up by Yoka until they are old enough to be trained by Kufunzi and assigned a rider. The hot sands beneath the Hatchery are kept warm by the furnaces of the gnomes, but Yoka does not mind the heat anymore. She is close friends with Winda, who has been seen visiting the Hatchery more and more frequently, ever since the most recent clutch of eggs hatched. The yound Kijivu, a greyish-silver dragonet, is Yoka's personal favorite ward right now. ____________________________________________________ ........................................................................................................ C&C welcome, of course. A special thanks to those who gave me feedback on them from Flickr, when I first posted images of these figs a month back or so, especially @TitusV. I took much of the criticism and used it make a few of the figs much better. I hope you enjoyed the look at the peoples of Mwamba, and in particular Bandari. It used up all of my non-light-flesh flesh-toned heads to make them, including two PotC zombies. TLG needs to make more dark-toned female minifigures, especially! As a bonus (since Ecclesiates seemed to imply that they would not fit the mold of a CMF) I'll post the pictures of the four centaurs that I also made at the end of this post later, once I have taken better pictures of them, but you can always see somewhat blurry pictures of them on my Flickr account here if you cannot wait...
  11. I’m sure a lot of people must already use minifigures from the CMF series and other themes to add a bit of extra life to their modular buildings, however I haven’t found any discussions of interesting ideas people have had. So with apparently leaked images of the latest modular suggesting a range of different faces will now be used, I thought it might be an appropriate time to come up with a few options. The below list includes a few predictable suggestions, but also a couple of slightly more surreal ways to utilise some of the CMFs that might otherwise never find a home , for example the Prospector and Leprechaun in line to make deposits at the bank, the Gingerbread Man as a classic Batman-style villain behind the cookie bootlegging industry, or the Policeman escorting the Hippy to get his hair cut. Lego minifigures rpg

Somewhat inspired by the failed MMO, basically, minifigures come to life and go on a quest to find the rest of there kin. I need 3 players before this can begin. Post your starting 3 members before you begin playing.
  13. If you have been following my 2017 Bricktober reviews, you know that I skipped the City Jungle Minifigures without any regret. If you have been gone in the past few weeks, go ahead and read my review for Bricktober 2017 - Ninjago and Bricktober 2017 - TLBM sets. Now, for my 14th RA review, I am back with the 4th week Bricktober set # 5004941 - Classic. Overview Name: 5004941 - Classic [Minifigure Collection] Theme: Promotional \ Toys R Us (Bricktober) Year: 2017 (2H) Pieces: 18 pcs Minifigures: 4 Price: free with purchase USA: Free with purchase worth 50 USD or more Canada: Free with purchase worth 75 CAD or more Europe (i.e.Germany): available at 14.99 EUR initially then became free with purchase worth 40 EUR or more Singapore: Free with purchase worth 60 SGD or more Malaysia: Free with purchase 199 MYR or more Hong Kong: Free with purchase 450 HKD or more Offers vary per country. It could also vary in different stores in the USA. Introduction I know upfront that I cannot pull off a WhiteFang here since I started collecting CMF quite late and I am not a completionist. To make it more enchanting, I don't even have the original of these classic minifigures. There will be no breakdown of each minifigure parts because they all came pre-assembled inside the packaging. After all, that's only really useful for feeling the content of a blind bag or foil pack; that's not the case here. The first iteration of these minifigures was produced between 2010 to 2012. By that definition, I guess LEGO can call any non-licensed re-release a classic if the original release was already 5 years or older. Front view Just like all other Bricktober minifigure set I reviewed several weeks ago, the little box is protected with a slide-in plastic cover that is secured with seals at both ends. Unlike the Ninjago and TLBM minifigure collection sets, these one does not contain any small elements that could slip outside the case. Just look at these minifigures for a moment. Only the Green Cheerleader has accessories (pom-poms) on its hand and even if the packaging is loose, I don't think those pom-poms will get out so easily. Just ensure you get two inside the package. The text printed on the front box panel is similar to the Ninjago set, with text for "building toys" and the number of pieces. The product illustration is simply studs at the header of the box. The colour of the box is the classic LEGO yellow so you cannot confuse this with the Batman Black and Yellow colour scheme. See the difference below -- Back view Like the previous Bricktober set, the packaging seal / batch number at the back of my set is 24GH7. There's a peculiarity again with the source of components because this time Mexico is not on the list. Components were sourced from Denmark, the Czech Republic, Hungary and China. Side view This is the 4th set for Bricktober 2017, therefore, the "minifigure #4" is highlighted in white at the top side of the box. This is true to my region as different markets have a different order of release. Again, this set is "Limited edition, Exclusively at Toys R Us" as seen from all sides of the packaging. As with the previous set, those words are translated from English to German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Hungarian and Mandarin (Chinese). In Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong, there is a free pop-up card laminated paper backdrop that comes free with each Bricktober set. I am not sure if the item below is also available in US/UK/EU because it really varies per market. The information printed on the back is the same as the previous one. Below is how the pop-up card looks like with the minifigures. For a change, the backdrop is useful for these minifigures because they appear to be on top of the deck of the boat. Minifigures Below is the picture of the minifigures after I cut the seals of the box at both ends with my hobby knife. We get 4 minifigures out of the box. These are the re-release of Collectable Minifigures in blind bags. Most of them were already hard to get unless you are willing to pay higher in the secondary market. Now, it is even harder to get the exclusive re-release due to its limited retail release. Does it make sense? No, not really. However, it depends on who you ask. For a regular guy like me who collected CMF late in the game, and does not bother about retired sets and CMFs (in general), these minifigures are relatively more accessible to me now than the older minifigures. As I don't have the original 'classic CMF' equivalent of these minifigures, I thought that I should at least mention the information of the first version of these minifigures. I do have a Collectable Minifigure Encyclopedia for the sake of side by side comparison so you can click the links below if you wish to see that. The Boxer is a call back to Series 5 Boxer (2011). Other boxers had appeared in the series including the Team GB Brawny Boxer and Series 16 Kickboxer Girl. The Hippie is essentially a recolour of Series 7 Hippie (2012). The Green Cheerleader is a variant of Series 1 Blue Cheerleader (2010). Other cheerleaders had appeared in the series as well these are: Series 8 Red Cheerleader (2012), Series 14 Zombie Cheerleader (2015) The Sailor is a recolour of Series 4 Sailor (2011) When you're done reading this review you can revisit WhiteFang's classic review for Series 1, Series 4, Series 5 and Series 7 later. I also reported the weaker clutch power in the Ninjago and TLBM in my previous reviews so there are no exemptions. The clutch power of these minifigures between the torso and legs are the relatively the same as the other regular CMF series (e.g. Series 14 to Series 16). Surprisingly I noticed that The LEGO Ninjago Movie CMF clutch power is much stronger than the regular series as they are closer to the clutch power of torso and legs made in the 90's. Front view with all accessories and head gears / hair piece Boxer What's the same from the original Series 5 Boxer? Apparently, just the head gear. Series 5 Boxer is the first minifigure to have both of its hands replaced with accessories (boxing gloves). This re-release of the Boxer is the 5th overall iteration of minifigure that wore boxing gloves; the 3rd one if counting only the red gloves. The blue gloves were worn by Brawny Boxer (Team GB) and the purple gloves were worn Raging Batsuit (TLBM). You would think that the default beaten up face is the same as original Boxer but it is actually a mirror image of the black eye, crooked lips face print. Its championship belt is white and grey which is a downgrade from the original Boxer that had gold and black. The striped blue and white boxer shorts give the minifigure a more amateurish look. The printing also continues at the side. Hippie What's the same from the original Series 7 Hippie? None. Series 7 Hippie is the first minifigure to wear tie-dyed torso. The newer version of the Hippie is the 3rd one. Wait, was there a 2nd Hippie that I didn't know? Not exactly a Hippie but there was a lime top variant without side printing was included in the abomination called Bricktober 2016. That Bricktober set was called "Musician" and the Hippie torso was used in a minifigure with dark tan Paleonthologist pants with striped socks. Thankfully we got a proper Hippie this time and it is hippier that ever. The hair piece is a recolour of the original reddish brown long hair with orange headband printing. The new Hippie has a dark tan long hair with lime green headband printing that goes around the hair piece. The face print is a recolour too. This time the facial hair is in dark tan colour while the glasses are tinted amber (orange) and it gives this Hippie a more John Lennon vibe. The torso base colour is sand blue with fringe printing forming the outer vest. The purple and lime swirls form the tie-dye pattern on top of the orange print. The orange arms have purple side printings too. Its legs are plain sand blue legs assembly without any printing. Green Cheerleader What's the same from the original Series 1 Cheerleader? None as well! There were several cheerleaders that appeared in other CMF series. These include Series 8 Red Cheerleader (2012) and Series 14 Zombie Cheerleader (2015). The letter printed on each cheerleader is unique. The original blue Cheerleader has "M" which stands for Matthew (or Makoy). The Red Cheerleader has "A" which stands for Ashton, then the Zombie Cheerleader has "Z" which we could only assume stands for Zombie. Then comes the Green Cheerleader with letter "J" which stands for James -- not Justin or just2good. This finally completes the full name of LEGO VP of Design, Matthew James Ashton. We could only hope in 30 years to get the rest of the remaining 22 English alphabets if that is even in design pipeline. The legs (skirt) printing is also unique. It's not just a recolour of the old print as the pattern is different. It's not shown in the front view pictures but the yellow leg colour extends at the side. It's a missed opportunity to use dual moulded legs but following the original design of these minifigures, I understand why there is no dual moulded legs or arms in this set. The hairpiece used is not the same as the original Cheerleader but it uses the pigtails hair piece from the Zombie Cheerleader in plain dark orange colour. If you think about it, the dark green Zombie Cheerleader could be the zombified version of the Green Cheerleader, not the original Blue Cheerleader. The pom-poms have green printing, too, following the green uniform of the Green Cheerleader. Sailor What's the same from the original Series 4 Sailor? Head gear and legs. It has the same white sailor hat with dark blue anchor pattern and plain white legs. It's probably the 'laziest' re-release but I will not call it lazy because it is still unique. Let me go in more detail. The face print is a mirror image of the original sailor face print so the winking eye is the right eye, not the left eye. The eye brow of the left eye is also higher so it's not just a simple flipped mirror image. The torso is basically an inverted image of the white torso. To be fair, the Sailor is the only minifigure with back printing as seen in the picture below. Back view with all accessories and head gears / hair piece There's nothing to write about back printing except the sailors oversized collar. Ok, if you count the Hippie headband on its hair piece then that's about it. Side view The side printing is a bit generous. The Boxer and Green Cheerleader have side legs printing while the Hippie has side arms printing. Front view without the accessories and head gears / hair piece. Once the accessories and hair pieces were removed, the Hippie's torso fringe printing is more visible. Apart from that. nothing much is revealed by removing accessories as most details on these minifigures are not covered or obscured by any accessories Back view without the accessories and head gears / hair piece. The only surprise looking at the back without any accessories is the reveal of the alternate face print for the boxer. It does not have the left and right cheek lines but it has a small crow foot beside the right eye (it's the branching wrinkle at the outer corner of the eye) The mouth piece is not gold but it is coloured light royal blue instead. You can check the alternate face of the Boxer with the headgear in my Flickr album. Ok, now were done with mug shots, here's the part were I will put these minifigures together with some other minifigures to showcase their similarities or relationship. A sailor went to sea sea sea to see what he could see see see A lucky Sailor sees a mermaid, or maybe not? Imagine all the people sharing all the world... I'm sure the Disco Diva will hang out with the Hippie in the 1960's. Missing in action - the other Hippie and the Disco Dude didn't get the invitation. Breakthrough on the other side! The Hippie headband is not only for the Hippie subculture, it's also great for psychedelic rock! Boo Lloyd! Boo Lloyd! If you didn't watch The LEGO Ninjago Movie, then you won't get the Boo Lloyd reference. It was a smashing radio hit! Pigtails and pom-poms come in pair Give me a Z! Give me an O!... ahhh pug? Give me a J! Jumping Roundhouse Kick Went the distance, now I'm back on my feet.... Just a man and his will to survive. -- Boxer (2017) Got the guts, but not the glory Eye of the tiger? Nope. More like black eye! Btw, here's another head kick. Ultimate (mini) Figure Championships "Your clutch power is weaker than mine!", said the Wrestling Champion. Beaten but not defeated Boxer: What's up bro? Clumsy Guy: My last fight with the Banana Man didn't go so well. Boxer: Let's form a tag team next time? Clumsy Guy: Sure thing! Parts Here is a quick recap on what those mere 18 pieces are. You should count the head, torso and legs assembly separately (counted as 3 pieces per minifigure). This Bricktober set has the least amount of pieces due to absurd lack of accessories. The Boxer could have benefited from a medal, the Hippie could have a flower like the original, and the Sailor could use a telescope. Conclusion Before I conclude this review, let's address the proverbial elephant in the room: is this just a lazy rehash? Personally, I don't think it is. A serious effort had been made so that some of the minifigures in this collection will not appear blatantly similar when compared to the first version. The Hippie and Green Cheerleader is the 2 outstanding minifigures in my opinion. I certainly enjoy the new Boxer even though it is very similar to the first Boxer. The weakest is obviously the sailor but even that came with a different winking eye. Surely, most casual LEGO set buyers and minifigure collectors will enjoy this classic collection of minifigures. Even if you already have the original Boxer, Hippie, Cheerleader and Sailor, at least one of these minifigures would entice you to get this set. Let me know which one is your favourite by voting in the poll above. Review summary Playability: 6.5/10 - This set is aimed at CMF collectors. While it's fun to play with minifigures, the absence of accessories for most minifigures takes away some fun factor. Design / Building Experience: N/A - Everything comes pre-assembled. Besides, there are no building blocks in this set so I’ll just leave it there. Minifigures: 9/10 - It's a great way to get similar minifigures you missed out from the original CMF run. Price / Value for money: 10/10 - I got this for free so I don’t see any reason why I should not give a perfect score for value. Overall: 8.5/10 - If you have the original CMF versions, the most compelling reason to get this is the John Lennon inspired Hippie and the Green Cheerleader because these variants look different. If you don't have any of the original minifigures, like me, then there's no reason why you will skip it unless you hate getting something free or if you have to buy this from a scalper. Once again, thank you for reading. Hopefully, this is not the last Bricktober set that I will review. Until next time!
  14. Ahoy maties! Continuing the Collectible Minifigure mania, I present the BoBS CMF Corrington Double Edition + Bonus Figure. This collection of 33 minifigs is entirely specific to the faction of Corrington. Enjoy! Group pic: First row, far left, front-back: Cannon Founder, Croquet Champion, Courier, Chimney Sweeper 2nd row, f-b: Coin Smith, Chef, Conquistador, Cutter (Woodcutter) 3rd row: Carpenter, Confectioner/Chocolatier, Chief Naval Minister, Charcoal Maker 4th row: Cash-Crop Capitalist, Corset Dress Maker, College Professor, Crocodile Wrangler Center: Bonus Figure 5th row: Coachman, Copper Smith, Composer, Crabber 6th row: Cartographer, Cake Maker, Chandelier Maker, Collier/Coal Miner 7th row: Customs Officer, Croissant Baker, Cutler, Candle Maker Last row: Chemist, Cheese Monger, Cooper, Crazed Hatter First Series: Cannon Founder "'Canon in D major' is lacking percussion; therefore I present to you 'Cannon by Major Dee.'" The Cannon Founder is an artisan and early industrialist. He is tasked with providing artillery and ordnance for Her Majesty's Army and Royal Navy as well as privately owned trade ships. He specializes in cast iron, only occasionally handling bronze, and has left Corrington intent on establishing significant production facilities in the colonies, in order to protect national interests wherever the red flag flies. Here we see him with a couple of his prized possessions: a steel boring mill cutterhead used to machine the final bore of a full-size cannon like the one at his feet, and a massive new mold ready to cast just such a cannon. Some say he has a quirky sense of humor, as the above quote seems to attest, and some say that after years of working iron he has no sense of humor at all. His name is Sir Dee, and he has a cannon with your name on it! Croquet Champion "To 'Swing like a girl' is suddenly popular among the men." The Croquet Champion is a lovely young lady from mainland Corrington who took the sporting world by storm with her meteoric rise to the top, much to the chagrin of her parents, who consider such endeavors to be entirely un-ladylike. Free spirited and independent, she has managed to make an impressive living from her winnings, and taken the opportunity to travel and compete wherever the game is played. The derision of sexist doubters only fuels her competitive fire, and she is quick to demonstrate her ability with a mallet in defense of women's abilities everywhere. But she is wise enough to pick her battles carefully, and employs her elevated social position for the advancement of the gentler sex whenever possible. Courier "If your horse's hooves don't spark the world aflame, then it's obvious your riding is too tame." The Courier is an energetic young fellow who thrives on one thing: the need for speed. The development of the colonies has resulted in an enormous boost in communications, and he likes nothing more than a gallop astride his charging steed, laden with important documents. He has lost a few hats, and will likely lose more; but he prides himself on never having lost a delivery or failing to come through on time. He rides fast and measures progress by how far the sparks fly as he thunders along. In the race against time he's set the countryside afire only twice, and has the well-earned reputation of being one of the most reliable couriers in the empire. Chimney Sweeper "Give soot the boot with either foot." The Chimney Sweeper maintains a particularly dirty and undesirable occupation, and is proud of it. Virtually all the homes and many places of business in Corrington have chimneys for wood-fired fireplaces or ovens. The inevitable build-up of creosote in these chimneys is a fire hazard and also affects the performance of the stoves and fireplaces, and his job is to keep everything clean and freely drafting. Reflecting the usual working conditions, everything about his attire is rough, from his patched and tattered hat and clothes to his crude rope belt. He carries a multitude of brushes and sweeps from job to job and is virtually guaranteed to resurface covered in sooty compounds. "Early and often" is his working philosophy. His clients are happy to see him come, and even happier to see him leave, chimneys cleaned and ready for another good hot fire. Coin Smith "Life's pressing engagements yield many golden moments." The Coin Smith carries out an extremely valuable task: pressing gold and silver into doubloons and smaller currencies at the Royal Mint in the capitol of Belson. He also handles large amounts of gold and silver bullion that isn't pressed into coins. Here we see him with a heavy iron chest full of gold bars and freshly-minted coins. As the colonial world grows and expands into newly discovered regions, more of the precious metals are being discovered, and it's very likely that another mint will be established across the seas at some future time. In the mean time, he oversees steady production on the mainland as Her Majesty's coffers surge from the increasing value of colonial trade. A bit of trivia: gold is one of the most dense of the well-known elements at 19.32 g/cm3 or 0.698 lbs/in3, compared to 1.00 g/cm3 for water. Gold is about 2.45 times more dense than iron. A US gallon of pure gold weighs about 161 lbs/73 kg, or more than the body weight of the average adult human. A liter weighs 42.5 lbs/19.3 kg. The chest depicted above could not easily be moved by hand! Chef "A proper chef asks 'How do you like your flaming bananas?' while a mere cook says 'What's flaming bananas?' Bon Appetit!!" The Chef is a true Culinary Master. He commands the kitchen of an attached tavern at a wealthy inn and lives to surprise the diners with his expertise. He emphasizes exotic and ethnic foods, and vows to learn how to prepare anything that his clients ask for. He also thrives on the staples of Corrington, especially marine life such as the plump lobster on the plate he is currently serving, and each year he enters multiple entries in the world-famous Shrimpfest cook-off, which he has won in the past. His dream in life is to join the elite chefs in Her Majesty's kitchen, but until then, he's content to serve the distinguished guests that walk through the inn doors. Conquistador "Corrington's lands will conquer your heart." The Conquistador is one of the Old Guard, a remnant of Corrington's late medieval soldiers tasked with assisting explorations and guarding against unknown dangers in the new world. He and his fellow soldiers rank among the more disciplined in Her Majesty's Army and are generally proficient with a wide array of weapons, from modern to traditional. Here we see him with a rapier and tradional heavy spear, which is mostly carried for ceremonial purposes; and without the traditional breastplate which is rarely worn. But he is just as comfortable with a musket, pistol, or cutlass. His stern expression most likely is the result of the "artist" who "painted" his portrait requesting that he remove the long extension from the beam of his spear, in order to fit his image on the "canvas" - ungrateful, those artists - but looks aside, he lives for the glory of the nation. Cutter (Woodcutter) "Tha only thang sharper than my ax is my tongue, and vice versa." He goes by several titles: Lumberjack, Woodcutter, or simply Cutter. And he takes his work very seriously - perhaps too seriously. The demand for wood and charcoal is growing faster and faster thanks to the establishment of the colonial settlements and the need for more ships, buildings, carriages of all types, and simple firewood, and it is up to strong men like him to fulfill that demand. He is a rough-and-tumble, rude, crude, foul-mouthed, heavy-drinking, fast-swinging, hard-hitting, "meff wiff me and I'll knock yore lights out" type person - and that's when he's in a good mood. Get him angry on the job and he's likely to cut down a few thousand studs of forest area before lunch, along with anyone or anything in his path. He carries all the breakfast leftovers with him in his big brown sack, to tide him over until lunch, or possibly to whack a slacker over the head if need be. He may not be as culturally refined as some Corries, but he's loyal to the bone, and usually doesn't cause too much trouble. Usually. Carpenter "Always remember to 'measure twice, cut once' or else you might saw the board five times and it will still be too short." The Carpenter is a man of creative construction. The contents of his toolbox and some lumber are all he needs to build something memorable, be it a house or pier or piece of furniture. The booming colonial economy has placed a great demand on the skills of men like him, since many of the early buildings are being made of wood rather than the more permanent stone and brick that will eventually become more common as the young settlements age. Like any true carpenter, he prides himself on his ability to identify the various types of wood from their sawn appearances. He is routinely amazed at the enormous size of the trees in the virgin forests of the colonies, and by the resulting volume and maximum size of cut lumber. Give him a saw, hammer, nails, and some big oak beams and he's happy! Confectioner/Chocolatier "Whoever said 'laughter is the best medicine' never tasted my Sugar-Frosted Chocolate Bombs." This lovely young lady was strictly a Confectioner making all kinds of candies and sweets and sugary treats... until cacao was discovered and processed in the colonies, and now she is also a Chocolatier! Business was always steady before, but the exciting appeal of this new "chocolate" means that she is busier than ever, often struggling to meet demand. Her best-selling concoction is a wickedly sweet treat called "Sugar-Frosted Chocolate Bombs." Her signature creation, "Chocolate Cataclysm," is pure culinary evil: it consists of a block of rich fudge dipped in alternating layers of milk chocolate and various dark chocolates, glazed with voluptuous dark chocolate ribbon, topped with chocolate cream, coated with dark chocolate shavings and served with edible tempered chocolate utensils... a masterpiece! But of course she still makes a full line of candies for those who prefer the traditional favorites. Oh, and she also has a twin sister... Chief Naval Minister "Speak softly and sail a big fleet." The Chief Naval Minister is a soft-spoken retired Admiral from Her Majesty's Royal Navy tasked with overseeing the internal affairs of the naval administration. In his dapper "Admiralty Blue" suit, he ranks among the "Inner Circle" of individuals who report directly to Queen Annetta, after serving her father, the late King Arlin, for many years. He is one of the top strategists in the land and after many years of relatively minor changes, he suddenly finds his hands full again with the growth in the colonial world. With nations scattered throughout the Brick Seas, occasion for conflict has been plentiful, and the intelligence reports have suggested this is unlikely to change. How will Corrington react? If anyone knows, it's him. Charcoal Maker "I'm the Charcoal Chef, specializing in making things black and crispy." Here we meet the Charcoal Maker, older brother to the Cutter that we met earlier. Their positions are somewhat complimentary: one harvests timber, the other burns it to make fuel. Charcoal is the main source of fuel for numerous industries in the Brick Seas, like iron-working, and will continue to be for many years to come, despite the recent discovery of coal. Charcoal is also one of the three principle ingredients in gunpowder, along with sulfur and saltpetre, and for all these reasons it is a valuable commodity both in mainland Corrington and in the colonies. Like his younger brother, the Charcoal Maker engages in occasional mischief (which is bound to happen when one plays with fire for a living) but generally he causes little trouble, unless you mess with his coon-skin hat. Cash-Crop Capitalist "Eggplant is for Eslandolans. I currently cultivate cacao, coffee, cotton, corn, carrots, celery, cucumbers, cabbage, cauliflower, chickpeas, cayenne peppers, chili peppers, cantaloupe, cherries, cranberries, currants, citrus, coconut, cumquat, cashews, chestnuts, cinnamon, chives, cloves, and coriander." The Cash-Crop Capitalist is a farmer at heart, an investor, and by some standards a merchant baron. Where there are people there is a demand for food and fiber for clothing, and he's built a veritable empire addressing these basic needs. Corrington's colonial lands span many latitudes, and he has begun producing numerous tropical crops that wouldn't grow well in the climate of the mainland, complimenting his traditional production. Cotton is one of the most important of the traditionals, for producing articles of clothing, but he also grows the exotic like cacao and coffee. Here we see him with a barrel of his most valuable crop: cinnamon. If it can be worn, eaten, or drank, and begins with the letter "C" he will grow it. So don't ask for eggplant! Corset Dress Maker "Fashion isn't comfortable, honey. Now inhale while I PULL!!" The Corset Dress Maker is a skilled seamstress with a flair for the fashionable. Women of all positions call upon her expertise, confident that she will send them off looking more beautifully feminine than ever before. But fashion is fickle, and the times ever changing, so she tries to stay ahead of the curve, with an emphasis on the curves. Men might not always understand, but at least they appreciate the results. And that is just what her clients want. College Professor "Knowledge is understanding that broccoli is edible, and wisdom is not eating it." The College Professor is one of the old guard in Corrington pledged with educating the young and curious. He understands that engaging his students is half the effort, and begins each day with a humorous or whimsical saying of some type. In a nation driven by scientific understanding, his position is extremely valuable, and he is determined to see his pupils off wiser than before and prepared to face the changing challenges of a growing and evolving world. As the colonies grow, he expects institutions of higher learning to eventually appear, and looks forward to the chance to travel abroad if duty calls. Crocodile Wrangler "Big cats are for sissies." The Crocodile Wrangler is part naturalist, part adventurer, and part daredevil as well. After the early colonial development he began tracking the big cats in the new world, and quickly found himself bored with their predictable, territorial behaviors. Along the way he encountered numerous crocs and alligators and was fascinated with their deceptive speed and apparent intellect. As more humans invaded their natural habitat, he occasionally found himself called upon to aid in their removal, and slowly developed a knack for handling the ferocious reptiles. His nickname? "Crocodile DanDee." Naturally. Second Series: Coachman "They see me rollin, they're waitin, patrollin, they want a ride in my fast carriage. My coach is so fast, we're swayin, they're hoping that I trained these charging horses..." The Coachman operates a number of coaches and other horse carriages, transporting people of all professions and nationalities. His primary focus is comfort and confidence - after all, scaring one's passengers while delivering a bone-jarring ride is hardly good for business - but he is known to release the horsepowers if his clients request it. He is always armed, and unafraid of educating the occasional highwayman, although it is rarely necessary for him to exercise in this capacity. His immaculate dress is a reflection of his highly visual position in daily affairs. And no matter where he goes, he always takes his pet chameleon, named "Millionaire," with him. Copper Smith "Unlike gold, copper can be made into many useful objects. And it also ages to a beautiful patina." The Copper Smith occupies his time crafting items from copper and its main alloys, bronze (primarily copper and tin) and brass (primarily copper and zinc). Iron production may have overtaken bronze in particular, but the alloy is still in high demand for its generally superior qualities, albeit at a higher price. The Smith makes all types of useful items, from the goblet and scope he is holding to candle holders to decorative items to tools. His usual attire reflects the range of colors expressed by copper and its alloys, and makes him easy to spot when he is out and about. Composer "While the music onward flows, the dead composers decompose." The Composer is a romantic at heart, a musician and artist who enjoys time alone developing a new composition while taking time to appreciate the finer things in life. He is proficient with several instruments and dreams of one day conducting an orchestra. He has a unique sense of humor: whenever meeting someone for the first time, he will play a prominent piece backward using whatever instrument he happens to be carrying; and when finished, will announce it was (for example) "Ludwig Amadeus Bach, decomposing." He is popular with all ages, and especially likes to play little ditties for small children. Here we see him carrying a couple of his various instruments. Crabber "These delicious crabs will grab your taste buds and won't let go. They'll also grab your nose if they get a chance." The Crabber makes his living from the seas as a supplier to some of the finer taverns and restaurants in Corrington. He is the crab connoisseur and never misses the chance to try the latest dish or make up the newest recipe. When not crabbing or dining he finds contentment maintaining his equipment or repainting his boat, to throw off less-successful fellows from following him to his favorite spots. He supplies the Chef we met previously and considers positions like his vital to the continued prosperity of the seafaring nation. Cartographer "Lose yourself in my collection of fine maps." The Cartographer busies himself making maps, maps, and more maps of the large land masses and lengthy shorelines of the various islands claimed in the name of Corrington since the dawn of the recent era of exploration. Demand for his highly-respected services is at an all-time high, and will likely continue growing, such is the extent of colonial developments. Navigators are only as good as their directions, and while the sun and stars are followed easily enough, making one's way about a new or unknown land without a proper map is a different matter altogether, best left to the explorers who record the information required to produce such maps. Here we see him in his formal attire, carrying his favorite red quill pen, as he puts the final touch on another item in his growing collection. Cake Maker "You can halve your cake and eat it two!" The Cake Maker is the twin sister to the Chocolatier and continues the proud family tradition of baking indulgent creations. Birthday celebrations or other special events aren't prerequisite: au contraire, her cakes are crafted for daily consumption as part of proper Corry cuisine. Most of her cakes are traditional favorites, but the introduction of chocolate has changed her offerings notably, evidenced by the one she is about to serve. Large or small, decorated or plain, she has a cake for every meal and every taste. To hear a customer exclaim after having a taste is her favorite compliment, and she enjoys watching the expressions of young children when a fresh cake is boxed upon order of the parents. Chandelier Maker "Let there be refracted light!" Light, glorious light! The Chandelier Maker is a talented artisan capable of taking ordinary light and transforming it into something soft and soothing, or brightly glaring if the customer so wishes. His chandeliers range from small and primarily functional, like the one he is holding, to large elaborate showpieces capable of illuminating large ballrooms. He utilizes frames from polished bronze and brass, like that produced by the Copper Smith, and upon this he artfully arranges the leaded glass crystals that produce the beautiful refraction for which his work is noted. Naturally many of his customers are affluent, but he strives to light the world of every budget. Collier/Coal Miner "Charcoal is so Stone Age. Coal is just waiting for someone to dig it up and introduce it to the world." The Coal Miner works a relatively new occupation. Only recently was coal mined on the mainland in significant quantities, and while the industry has grown it has yet to spread to the colonies. He is one of the early workers employed in extracting the charcoal substitute from within the ground. Here we see him dressed to work a surface pit mine, which requires little in the way of safety gear, unlike the underground shafts. He delights in the knowledge that use of coal will greatly reduce the stripping of forests for fuel and foresees a time when industry will be almost entirely fueled by the mysterious "black rock." Customs Officer "Enriching Corrington, one import duty at a time." The Customs Officer keeps close watch on Corrington's borders, particularly the ports and land-based points of entry. He ensures that import duties are paid, watches for contraband and stolen goods, keeps an eye on who comes and goes, and generally observes that trade and border laws are upheld. Usually he doesn't encounter too much trouble, but occasionally a citizen returning from foreign lands will try to sneak something in, and he has learned to expect the unexpected when dealing with foreigners. Here we see him in the resplendent attire that makes him easily seen, and carrying one of his trusty ledgers. Croissant Baker "I will serve them hot or cold, but never more than hours old." The Croissant Baker is the mother of the twins we encountered earlier - the Chocolatier and Cake Maker. She taught her daughters well, and like them she is a bit of a specialist. Rather than baking breads in general she bakes croissants only, choosing to focus on doing one thing as well as possible. Her work begins very early in the morning to ensure that fresh croissants are available during peak business hours. She bakes several times per day and has attracted a loyal following of patrons clamoring to "get them while they're hot." She knows her customers' preferences, and bakes accordingly: some are light and fluffy, others are firm and tight, and a few are hard enough to require a hammer at meal time. Whatever the customer wishes, she believes, but not old. Never old. Cutler "Allow me to sharpen the dull moments in your life." The Cutler is an affable fellow who sells and sharpens all types of domestic cutlery. Need a particular knife or set of knives? He either has it, or will get it for you. Have a dull blade that needs sharpening? But of course, and he is eager to have you slicing and dicing without effort once again. He likes to remind everyone that life is too short to waste time laboring over dull instruments. Watching him sharpen might be boring, but his friendly demeanor earns him the favor of most whom he works for. Candle Maker "Wax. It's the hottest fashion." The Candle Maker provides that simplest form of light. Lanterns and chandeliers have their functions, but a simple candle is still capable of illuminating a path in the dark, or providing a bit of light in a darkened room. He believes that a proper candle maker should have some wax on him, and proudly counts the evidence of his work among his various accoutrements. He makes candles of all shapes and sizes, for all occasions, and sometimes mixes in scents for his more affluent customers. Corrington will not go dark as long as artisans like him remain active. Chemist "A good chemist more or less has 10 fingers, more or less." The Chemist is a scientist driven by experimentation, which can be dangerous (as his quote attests). Corrington, being a science-driven nation, fully supports the efforts of men like him who strive to understand what and why the natural world works the way it does. A good application of chemistry is in gunpowder production, which is vital to the nation's security. Through tireless study (and the occasional violent reaction) the chemist hopes to unlock many of the age-old mysteries of the world, and hopefully advance the cause of Corrington in the process. Cheese Monger "Please stop drooling on your sleeves, and have a taste of cheddar cheese." The Cheese Monger makes a living selling all types of cheeses. He is a very popular man, which is typical when one sells a very popular product. He handles large rounds sealed in wax and supplies many homes in the mainland. His cheese market is usually busy and he also runs a carriage for deliveries. Here we see him in his usual splendid attire, holding a plate of wedges left from several round blocks, offering free samples to passers-by in the hopes of creating new sales opportunities. He is quick to remind everyone that cheese pairs well with meats, breads, vegetables, fruits, wines - is there anything it doesn't pair well with? So take his advice and take a bite! Cooper "Making barrels is more fun than a barrel of monkeys." The Cooper is a craftsman employed in the vital art of making barrels. All the goods moving about in Corrington and her colonies require some type of container, and barrels often fulfill this purpose. He takes pride in the precision of his work and finds few things more satisfying than seeing a tight new barrel waiting to be filled and delivered. He's a master of the hoop-and-stave, knows his various woods well, and brandishes his tools with authority. Besides this he also possesses a keen sense of fashion as evidenced by his attire. Crazed Hatter "HATS!! They're all the rage. Unless, of course, you're headless, in which case I can't help you. Cheerio!" The Crazed Hatter is an eccentric and colorful fellow known for his love of hats, fine wines, and somewhat bizarre behaviors. He operates a hat shop, specializing in tricornes, but stocks a multitude of designs for both men and women. His attire is, frankly, outrageous: he wears a brightly colored suit that looks more appropriate for a medieval jester, a ruffled collar, a billowing cape, big gaudy gold bracelets, and a stack of black tricornes on his head - with a fiery flare flickering from the topmost hat, completing the unusual look. His conversation is equally unusual, as he can often be heard jabbering nonsense or arguing with himself, and he typically addresses individuals with contradicting and senseless statements. He is an avid fan of croquet and gives a free hat to anyone who can beat him (notably the Croquet Champion we met earlier) but he doesn't have to give away many. But one question lingers: is he really crazed, or is it all an elaborate act? Most people who know him aren't quite sure. And finally the Bonus Figure: Courtesan [whispered] "Come hither... if you dare..." Her name is Delilah. She is known throughout the Brick Seas as the "Black Widow" for her ominous black attire - first paired with red, later with an expensive purple. She is fiercely loyal to the crown and considers it her patriotic duty to coax every possible doubloon from the white-knuckle clutches of foreign hands, and she is exceptionally successful in this pursuit. Her greatest delight is feeding the inflated egos of arrogant men, all the while toying with them, and ultimately sending them stumbling out the door, penniless. ********** Building all these minifigs was fun! I enjoyed it more than any of my prior projects. I had planned to build several of them for other purposes, and after seeing the first 2 CMF series I went to work on this. After getting hung up on the letter "C" (for Corrington) I had to make a few changes (for example, "Mad Hatter" became "Crazed Hatter") but I had fun just seeing what I could come up with. I wanted to focus on occupations and avoid the usual soldiers-sailors-merchants-etc if at all possible. My list included several more that I didn't build: Constable, Cabinet Maker, Cordwainer, Cobbler, Cartwright, Chauffeur, Courthouse Clerk, Conductor, etc etc. A few of these (like the Chief Naval Minister) look remarkably similar to existing characters. Besides my sigfig, this is purely coincidental. Upon reflection I have decided I don't really have any standout favorites. I'm very happy with the entire collection. Thanks for viewing and your input is welcome.

    BoBS CMF - Series 7

Hello guys ! After having seen those previous brilliant BoBSCMF Series, I thought it would be fun to build one myself. So here is my humble attempt to follow the BoBS CMF train. The BoBS CMF Serie 7 : Let me introduce the characters : The Juniper war veteran : "Show them no fear... Show them no pain..." One of the pride of Oleon is to parade with many flags, fanals, and "cotes d'armes" like they say in their language. This old veteran warrior have seen many of his comrades fall during the Juniper War and now is honouring them every year on the day of the "Mémoire" by hoisting his batallion flag. The Oleon Ship boy : "Seventh son of a seventh son" A poor child from a numerous family. He had no choice but entering at the service of a ship captain to earn his food. It was this life of servitude or a life of danger as a pirate. The Colonist : "A Brave new world... In a brave new world..." Oleon is not only a Navy power, but is also claiming land in the new world. It is by sending many groups of such colonists the Blue Realm is hoping to conquer land. The Corrington trader : "No more lies..." It is something to encounter an Eslandola merchant but a Corrington Trader can be more efficient and could earn good benefits from nearly anything thanks to their new techniques in economic science. The naturalist : "Caught on spiders web..." She is from a good family and tryed to go for adventure. But Adventure comes with little beasts and annoyances on the same way she wasn't expecting. The Royal guard : "We're blood brothers..." One of the most selected guards in all Corrington, this guy is the Elite of the Elite. The Eslandolan navigator : "I've seen the Ghosts of navigators..." This Navigator from the MAESTRO fleet is one of the finest you can encounter. His skills allowed his ship to sail safely and quickly between many dangerous waters. The Scholar : "Age of innocence" This young scholar is freshly entering in the ETWC to study the magic of Nature. He is secretly wishing to encounter hihs idol, George da Pontelli, the intelligent monkey ! The Mercenary : "Pay to kill, die to loose..." This skilled soldier is hired by the MCTC to protect their cargoes well packed in their warehouses. But, is this necessary ? Just to protect some cotton balls ? The Lady pirate : "Just another way the wild wind blows" She has sailed to many lands ands cut many throats. You should avoid her ! The Pirate Captain : "The wicker man" Despite his classical aspect with even a parrot, this skilled captain is able to empty your pockets in no time... The pirate cook : "Die with your boots on" What would be life on board without a cook ! Well, with this one, you should be warned that eating his meal could lead you to your instant death... The Shipmaker : "We are pleased to be yelled..." A wood plank and a hammer and this artisan can make all your repairs ! And for a good price ! The banana farmer : "Hey la banana... hey la banana..." The Ténotclaxcans are well known for their excellent bananas ! This made their pride, and even in the court of Corrington, their fruits are praised. The Alexport negociant : "The man who would be king" In Isla de Romantica, there are trading companies in development which are ready to sell and buy many products. This spirits negociant is one of the bests, and it is rumoured he could be richer than the Archduke of Alexport ! The Mardieran soldier : "Pashendale" This soldier miraculously escaped from Isla de Medio alive ! During the last battles he saw his company decimed and had to run through a ship from Nova Malto. Now he is safe and is waiting for his revenge... Here it is ! Hope you'll like it ! C&Cs are welcome !
  16. My take on Elostirions BoBs CMF series idea. Series 1, by @Elostirion Series 2, by @Ayrlego Series 3, by @Capt Wolf Series 4: Corrington Explorer Getting into the jungle is no problem for any Corrington explorers. The ones that find their way out again, often have wild tales from nature, that earn them respect from other nerds. Young Corlander Butterfly Collector "Curiosity found out what killed the cat" is a common catchphrase in the Corrington scholar system. Here is a young corlander trying to find butterflies that mimic flower patterns. Corrington Chocolatiér Nothing is as sweet as landing a job in Corringtons booming chocolate business. Only the most stubborn scientific persistence could have led to the discovery of the right processing technique for turning the bitter cocoa beans into sweet chocolate afternoon delight. Myzec Cathunter The Myzec are masters of hunting cats of Cascadia. Mostly in self defence, but their furs fetch a good price from the strange new people from the west. Oleon Naval Officer The officers of the Oleon Navy are no less flashy then their ships. Oleon Noblesse Statue The noblesse of Oleon are known for their family crests, and likes to display their heritage. Oleon Swabber Oleon likes to keep their ships shiny, and their dirt under the carpet, so a lot of their navy have started swabbing decks. Mardier Aristocrat Some in Mardier are getting rich despite the nations misfortunes. Eslandolan Musician A new kind of music are washing through the brick seas. The latest sound is a high pitch whining instrument that takes years of patience to play in tune. The Eslandolans knows how to appreciate improvisation. Some call it art. Eslandolan Boomstickman The blunderbuss is a fierce weapon, and the armor is mostly used for protection from it, rather than the enemy. The range or accuracy is so-so, but the thunderous sound and choking sulphurous smoke clouds makes it worth it. Old Deluded Man with a stick and bone This became my favorite detail from Eslandolas Colonial Council Hall, perhaps because it came about from improvisation instead of planning. I gave him an encore in this CMF series, simply because I like him. Garvey Trader The people of Garvey are bound to the sea, and trade runs in their veins. Many have tried to earn a profit on their expense, so many from Garvey are suspicious by nature. Sea Rat Occultist Contrary to popular beliefs, you don't worship dark arts, you practice it. The most daring occultist in the Brick Seas have called themselves free men. Perhaps they are on to something... Sea Rat Mercenary This sea rat will be at the mercy of no man. When you have to learn to fend for yourself, you might as well earn some doubloons doing it. Sea Rat Farmer A common occupation in the colonies, also amongst the Sea Rats, is farming. This is a hemp farmer, selling his crops to ropemakers, tailors, sailcloth makers and such. Rum Runner Rum runners are common in the Brick Seas, and (even though this one is currently employed by Eslandola - Captain on the Silver Scythe) could belong to any nation.
  17. @Elostirion started it, and @Ayrlego continued it and threw down the gauntlet to others, so here's my contribution to the BoBS CMF effort. Corrington Explorer Sir Famous Explorer has been knighted by the queen for his service to the crown. His most recent present for Her Majesty: a pineapple, his latest discovery in New Terra. His is always well dressed, befitting his standing in the queen’s court, and he is the talk of all the ladies. His next adventure? Perhaps circumnavigating the globe! Corrington Spy As the wife of a Corrington diplomat, she has the perfect cover to travel to foreign lands and collect the gossip from the wives of other nations’ dignitaries. But she can charm her way into the men’s discussions as well. And don’t think she’s an easy mark if you get her alone: beware the pistol she hides in her knickers! Corrington Naturalist His appearance might suggest he is rather bookish and doesn’t get out much, but appearances can be deceiving. He has traveled throughout the Brick Seas courtesy of the Royal Navy, studying the new islands and cataloging their flora and fauna. Oleon Aristocrat She went to all the right schools and is intelligent and refined. While not a young lady anymore, she was widowed at a young age, and still has her looks. Now independently wealthy, she is the target of many suitors. As a result, she can choose who she spends her time with, and even go on some adventures that women of her standing rarely get to experience. Oleon Admiral He is among Oleon’s greatest naval commanders, and he can typically be found on his flagship, a ship of the line. His gray hair and receding hairline reveal his years of experience. Nothing escapes his steely gaze, and order is always maintained on his ship. He commands the utmost respect from his officers and the crew, and is highly regarded by the king. Oleon Priest Some say the Order of the Faith is the true power in Oleon. Followers of Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades all look to the Order for guidance and blessing. While most priests of the Order wear white, grey, or red robes, this priest wears the black robes of the secret order within the Faith … secret even from many other priests of the Order of the Faith! Eslandola Swordsman The many trade companies of Eslandola have their own militias, and the richest merchant barons have their own elite bodyguard units. This man is a highly skilled swordsman in the employ of one of the most powerful merchant barons in Eslandola. His fine uniform reflects his status, and his expertise in combat is well known to all. Eslandola Banker The merchant barons of Eslandola need to keep their riches safe, and also finance their endeavors without plundering their own financial resources. Thus Eslandola has seen the rise of a thriving financial industry. This banker insures merchants’ gold deposits and advances DBs to those seeking to become wealthy in New Terra. Eslandola Socialite The wife of a merchant baron, this lady wears the finest clothes money can buy, including the latest fashions from all of Halos. She may not have the schooling and refinement of the Oleon Aristocrat, but she would not embarrass herself or her husband in such company (probably). If nothing else, her spending habits motivate her husband to add to his wealth. Sea Rat Captain He is a self-made man, raising himself up from humble beginnings. Alienated by the rules and laws of the established factions that are slanted against him, he struck out on his own to make a name for himself in the islands of New Terra. All he needs is a ship and his wits, and he will overcome the obstacles “society” has put in his way. Sea Rat Swordswoman She is an expert with the blade, both sword and knife. Although some men do not like having women aboard a ship, she is a valued member of her crew. Part of the vanguard in boarding actions, she is deadly in close combat. She is also hot-tempered; do not cross her on-board ship or on liberty in port. Sea Rat Pirate Hunter To many in the Old World, all Sea Rats are pirates, but those who sail in the seas of New Terra have learned otherwise. Many a Sea Rat will take offense at being called a pirate, none more so than this one. With no allegiance to the Old World factions, but no desire to be the object of their scorn, this captain hunts down the pirates that give Sea Rats a bad name. Mardier Militia A recent veteran of the Eslando-Mardierian War of 616-617, he was one of many local militia men called into service on Isla de Medio. Local militia typically can’t afford the fancy uniforms of army regulars, but his wide-brimmed beaver hat helps keep his powder dry, and his buff coat provides ample protection if he gets into close combat. Fisherman This fellow could be of any faction in the Brick Seas. While many make their profession in service of the army, navy, or a trade company, this man of the sea is skilled at harvesting what the sea provides: food for his family and for sale at market. He dreams of making enough DBs to buy a larger boat and hire a crew of his own to go after tuna and other commercial fish. Native Pearl Diver Many of the islands of New Terra were already inhabited by native peoples when the Halosians started to explore the Brick Seas. This native diver is a highly skilled craftsman, and the strange new men who have come to his island seem very excited about the pearls he retrieves. Monkey Monkey is far too simple a name; he has many skills. Artist, scientist, and today … author. A young Corrish playwright suffering from writer’s block has offered him several hundred DBs to ghostwrite his latest play for the queen. The monkey prefers not to work under such a harsh deadline, but has agreed in this instance.

    BOBS CMF - Series 1

Eslandolan Merchant A feeling for money, courage, some fortune at the seas, a bit of ruthlessness - and soon this guy has become one of the richest men in the Colonies. He knows a good business when he sees it, and he never rests from work - be at the harbour-pier or at cultural events. He is a member of the ETWC, and his connections and influence range wide. While his extravagant appearance may make him seem detached, he has only come to where he is through hardest work. And this pretty golden statue he just acquired? Oh be assured, he will sell it for great profit soon. Eslandolan Conquistador He loves the adventure, and glory is the ultimate goal of his life. Many might call him a mercenary, and sure he is often hired by the major trading companies for simple jobs, such as guarding a city or a trade voyage. But on his current mission for MAESTRO he does what he loves: Venture into the unknown, explore new worlds, find new islands, found settlements, discover hidden places - and maybe one of those will carry his name some day. Eslandolan Cotton Farmer She has come to the Colonies in hope for a better life. For months she had saved her hard earned money from being a day labourer in the old world to pay for the voyage to the Colonies. When she arrived at Nova Terreli in Nellisa, she was overwhelmed by the energetic and sanguine atmosphere she could feel vibrate through the streets. Soon she found a job at one of the MCTC's cotton plantations. Soon she would be promoted as supervisor, and most certainly she would open a business of her own. Soon. Mardierian Footsoldier Seeing comrades die in battle is horrible. Seeing your own subordinates fall under your command will pursue you for a lifetime. Isla de Medio - or Isla de Victoria as they now called it - had been Mardier's worst nightmare in the Colonies. With the civil war, and later the unsuccessful war against both Eslandola and Garvey, the former colonial superpower of Mardier had lost ground rapidly, and might soon even fall into oblivion. Here he sat now, in those lousy barracks outside of Calisto on King's Island, awaiting his next orders. He could only hope that his commanders would be wise enough to pick the right foe, this time. Oleon Admiral He was born to stand above the common soldier, and so he did. The upcoming pirate hunt was his first major command as admiral for glorious Oleon - to make the trade routes safe again, and to prove to the world what true naval power means. Those who had called him spoiled son of la noblesse, unable to command a fleet - they soon would know better. Those who did not yet know his name - they soon would. And the pirate captains who defied him - soon noone would, anymore. It was time to hold a motivational speech to the common footsoldiers, those less gifted than him. Oleon Priest of Zeus There was no room for doubt in a man's life, because belief is what keeps us alive. Too bad that belief had diminished in Eslandola and Corrington over the past centuries, and even worse that in the Colonies where a temple would be of utmost importance to keep hope alive even during the worst times only few seemed to have time to pray. But the rumours about the wild native population of the new islands were far beyond the pale! Praying to parrots, walking over hot stones, or even praying to wild felines - someone needed to tell them the truth. About Zeus, but also about Poseidon and Hades. And thus he boarded a ship. Oleon Artist What would the world be, if we could not preserve it? That's what the earliest men did, when they carve pictures into the walls of caves, and in people like herself that art comes to perfection. Because what she does is more than just paint what is - she adds what could have been, what might be real, and even what will or will not happen. Combining reality and imagination can create true perfection. And while in her youth she had often portraied the noble, and the military leaders, she had turned to something different, something that required her to travel, something that demanded real courage: Portraying the battles at sea, and adding her very own flavour! Garvey Rum Trader Garvey wasn't much of a colonial power - but she couldn't care less. The Rum Isles were a paradise, and planting while planting sugar cane was one thing, and destilling rum was another - she had found that her fortune was in making deals with traders from all nations. She had paired with a rich Eslandolan tradelord from the MCTC - he provided the money, and she operated business on the Rum Isles. Profits were shared, but somehow riches meant little to her compared to the overwhelming feeling of making eyes at a merchant from afar and knowing he would cut every deal she proposed. Sea Rat Captain Last time they got in this horrible storm. The time before there was that thing with the mutinity. Before that they had this unfortunate incident with the Corrish Armada. The captain had not been too lucky, lately. But not this time! The treasure map he stole from the Oleander nobleman would lead him to riches beyond measure. His ship was ready, the path was set - nothing could go wrong this time. Now all he needed was a crew! Sea Rat Adventurer In Nova Terreli they called her pirate, and only through sheer luck could she escape. In Tortuga they'd all know what she means when she says she is an adventurer, but the good thing about Tortuga is that noone asks anyways. She has sailed with many infamous captains, such as the Captain Meloche and even Benjamin Morgan himself. Money is a neccessity to buy some good rum, and rum is important for courage, which you need to earn money. Life is great. Sea Rat Innkeeper Some say he once was a resourceful smuggler. Others rumour he was an infamous priate. Only he knows the truth, but those rumours help in his current job - both to attract guests and to have them respect him. And sure, he runs this inn at Rassilon, and many come to him for a good beer, or for a bed, or for some information. And those who come for some of the more... secret goods... be sure there is a special back room for this kind of business in his inn as well. Tenotaxclan Fisherwoman The strangers brought wonders to her home. They came with giant canoes, which they call ships. Now they build huts of stone, and they cook food inside those huts. They have machines moving of their own. And they carve strange runes on leafs which they call paper, with a liquid they call ink. Oh the wonders! Yet so little do they know about the forests, and the lakes, and the rivers, and the mountains, and the animals. They look for the shiny metal, but noone asks her, but she knows where to find it, she knows. But instead of looking, the strangers prefer to argue about the name of her home: Berreli or Annetta? Why not just call it home? Corrington Governor Born to be a nobleman, grown to be a gentleman, lived as a master strategist. He has served both as General in her majesty's army and later as Admiral in her majesty's navy. He has governed fortresses, towns and territories in royal order. And now he has arrived in the Colonies, on Alicentia, in Mooreton Bay. For three months he had planned his next mission, because thinking ahead is the key to order and success. His fleet is ready and waiting for his order only to leave port and sail south, for the honour of Corrington. Before that, however, it is time for a cup of tea with his daughter and his future son in law - because a gentlemen always takes his time. Corrington Pioneer His regiment had been the first to land on Garma's Key, and to claim the island for her majesty, Queen Anetta. Honour, discipline and loyalty kept men unified in the new world, where to seeked to widen the Empire's borders. A musket was one thing, but sometimes a paddle proved to be far more important. During the past month he had learned a lot he had never imagined before: About plants, animals, how to build a hut with palm leafs, or how to catch fish with an improvised wooden spear. Recently he had bought a small house in Kingston, and soon his wife and sone would follow him into the Colonies. Corrington Scientist The Royal Society of Natural Philosophy - only the most renowned scientists were members of this illustrous society. And soon he would apply as well! But what would he talk about? The essence of sugar cane and lime as a liquid in a bottle, which he had invented? Or the hourglass running exactly ten hours, indicating the end of a shift in the Empire's factories (he was so glad they had unified working times)? Or about his calculations, proving that it was actually impossible to make a ship fly with hot air? Most certainly he would not talk about his idea to make use of hot steam to power machines - because even he knew something like this would never work at all. Mermaid Fiction or Reality? Many a sailor claims to have seen the mermaids, out on the cliffs, tempting them to come and spend the night with them, only to be drawn into the depth, where the mermaid would reveal her true nature, and where even worse creatures may lurke. Like the mysterious Kraken, which drew many ships into the depth. While Oleons Priest see this as a test from the gods, Corrington's scientists already have a scientific explanation and a name for the phenomenon, and Eslandola's merchants seek their chance for raised profits being the only ones to trade on the endangeroured routs - while the bravest captains of the Sea Rats see their chance to... take from the latter. And during all that, the mermaid just sits and waits.
  19. Hello, everyone on Eurobricks who is reading this, now i thought it's very sad that LEGO Scooby Doo retired, since Scooby was my childhood and i only have one set from the entire theme, so i thought we should get a wave two, or at least a CMF series. [MOC] Custom CMF Series

Original post here, please do me a favor and check out my blog by clicking on that link. So.. Inspired by @Robert8 and @Ashnflash's creations, I have created a custom CMF Series (in between building my SoNE upcoming build, fingers crossed it fits the episode criteria) Here are the 16 figures, created in LDD. Goblin General SWAT Team Member Airport Ground Crew Female Ninja Classic Spaceman Costume Guy Witch Costume Girl Pirate Captain Captured Robber Jedi Costume Boy Jeweller (let's hope she doesn't run into any Jewel Thieves) Ice Cream Man Ghost Bat Costume Dude Berserker Warrior Samurai (please excuse the dual-moulding LDD error, it is supposed to be black on top and red boots) Blacksmith So that's my CMF MOC, C&C welcome! Oh, and let me know what figures you would buy if this series was real If someone would be so kind as to write descriptions for these minifigures, that would be most appreciated! Thanks for looking!
  24. Not sure which board to be posting this guy on, but here's a Lego homage to one of my PBS heroes, The Joy of Painting's Bob Ross!
  25. Hi there everyone! This is my first real MOC post that I've put a lot of work into so please be kind I decided to create what a potential second line up could look like for another Disney CMF Series. I have a rational for every character I chose and if you've got any questions feel free to ask me below or PM me. All of the figures and pictures can be on my flickr linked below, and if you want to swing by there and leave a favourite or follow me to see my further updates it'd be much appreciated A few things to note. First off the figures are all hand drawn and I am working towards creating a better way to merge the hand drawing and digital aspects of the figures. If you recall the packaging for the first CMF was Blue and the colour I have chosen here is Yellow this is of course to reflect how the first non-licensed CMF was Yellow and the second Blue (Bit of Irony I guess). I have also included characters I felt were left out or needed to complete the figures that came in the 1st wave. For example the inclusion of Woody, Lilo, and Goofy. I have also tried to keep about the same amount of villains as there were in the original and plan to do so in future ones as well (If you guys like them of course ). Oh one last thing to note I think is that this is almost identical to the wishlist I created over a year ago so if there is someone you'd like to see me do I'll try to squeeze them into a future line (Only if they fit my criteria though). Also forgot to say that @Robert8 and his creations was a huge inspiration to do this, so thanks! So with out further ado....
