Let me introduce myself and tell you something about this new topic. Some of you may know me in connection with modification of alternative model from set 8052. I modified it into truck with work platform last summer and provided you building instruction via brickshelf. It is not my only creation so I decided to share my other creations with you too. One more note before introducing my models – I am focused on building models from one set so they could be named as “unofficial alternative models”. It’s enough about me and let’s look at what I have for you now! This is truck with work platform I spoke about above. My latest creation is “telehandler” also from set 8052. Honestly it doesn’t have telescopic boom but at least it looks like it has... :) It features following functions: lifting boom via linear actuator and medium motor with gear ratio 1:3 (it is as slow as lifting container in main model) rear axle steering with eccentric control via beacon on roof of cabin – this was little puzzle because lack of bevel gears front stabilizers which are able to lift front wheels little bit above land adjustable rear mirror (I like especially that one on side of battery box)

[C-MODEL] Snow Groomer

So it's been a long time since I've done any building that wasn't an out-of-the-box set, and I quite liked the challenge of the C-Model contest from a while back (TC5 was it?), so I figured that was where I'd pick up... When I first saw images of 42038, I figured that it would probably have a snow groomer as its B-model. We got something different instead, which was great, but I decided to have a bash at a snow groomer myself anyway. I tried to get as much functionality as possible, at least similar to what the real thing might have. Features are: The front blade can be raised and lowered with a mini LA, controlled via the 2-point gearbox behind the cab The rear blade can be raised and lowered with a mini LA, controlled via the 2-point gearbox The front blade can be tilted left and right from a control behind the cab An extendable winch, which can rotate 360 degrees via the control at the back On with the gratuitous photos: Front and rear blades raised. [C-MODEL] 42039 - Peyote Dream

The C-Model of notorious 42039 24 Hour Race Car. Just like Bootleg Belle, the idea here was to build an oversized desert truck. While Belle goes with hot rod styling, Dream is a pickup truck that someone carved up to extreme extent, installed an oversized and boosted V8 in the back, topped it with preposterous wing and thus fashioned a beast to dominate any desert. It looks angry and ridiculous, because that's how I felt while building it - my girlfriend was reading a particularly bad - yet published by a renowned publishing house! - novel aloud while I was building Features: ► V8 engine with moving pistons and twin "procharger" pulleys, ribbed hose headers and two exhausts, connected to rigid transmission with differential ► radiator with cap & hood intercooler intake ► individual front wishbone suspension & rear live Hotchkiss drive (dragged axle) with integrated bumper ► steering connected to HOG ► opening doors ► cockpit with a (non-functioning) steering wheel, dashboard and seats ► oversized rear wing, rear view mirrors, front lights, reverse lights and stop lights, two side fuel tanks with caps -
42060 C-Model: Combine Harvester

My girlfriend gave me the 4260 Road Work Crew for the holidays (you can see her present in the back of the pictures). I thought it'd be fun to have a go at building a C-Model. I grew up in a rural community and combine harvesters were a common sight in my youth. Without further ado, this is the result: The model has the following functionality: The mower drives the conveyor The conveyor almost reaches the hopper The hopper can be disconnected Rear-wheel steering The model is more fragile than I would have liked but this is the best I could manage with the limited part selection. The colours, stickers and the anniversary brick work out quite nicely. Some more pictures can be found in the Instagram post. -
[C-MODEL] 42048 - Formula 1

Hi, I made a C-Model for the 42048 Kart :) It features a Formula 1 with working direction (controlled by HOG) and a fake engine with two gears (which can be switched from the back). The hood can be opened. There are also two exhausts and a position light in the back. It is quite fun to play with and the steering radius is much better than the one of A-model :) Here are a few pictures: The HOG is in place of the steering wheel (small yellow part). Steering mechanism is similar to B-Model, but more flat (it is only 1 stud high). The gear box is taken from A-Model and features the same ratios. The switch is on the back however (could not really put it in the cockpit :p ). Any comment welcome ! Will post instructions on rebrickable as soon as possible. -
75532 C-Model - Endor Walker

I'm not sure if this MOC belongs in the Technic or Star Wars forum, but I'll post it here and let the moderators decide. I recently picked up set # 75532, Star Wars Scout Trooper & Speeder Bike. It's a very nice set, but has no alternate build, so I made a C-Model (or B, I suppose) out of it. Here is what the original looks like: Endor Walker I built a Star Wars-themed walker as the alternate model: Functions: Opening cabin Tilting cabin Pivoting feet and legs Features: Cabin with seat Twin cannons Turbine engine under cabin The legs and feet can be set in many different poses, with each of them moving independently. MOC - C Model of 42075 - Claw Loader

I would like to present my latest MOC. This is a claw loader C model of set 42075. This has been built using only the pieces from this set. It features: - Hand of God (HOG) steering via the knob on the top of the cabin roof. - Front arm lifting via the black leaver in front of the cabin. This also has a lock to keep it in place. This is required as due to a lack of LA's and no worm gear included, it would not stay in place as it went up. - Manual claw opening, this uses the shock absorber to close it. I had built a winch for the rear but this didn't look "right" so I took it off. You can see in the last photo the parts which were left over after I finished this. I spent about 7 hours over the past few nights building this. I had to go back a few times and change parts used as I needed them for another parts of the model. My building process was: Chassis Lifting arm Cabin Body work Overall I am happy with how it worked out, it ended up better than I was expecting. 1970 Porsche Can Am - 42077 C-Model + Instructions

After a grueling 10 hour dual build with my Brother Dugald, we have successfully completed a proper C-Model for the 42077 Lego Rally car. The car can have all the motors easily removed and an HOG steering can been added for a proper C-model. We managed to create completely new suspension, most notably the front suspension tuned in by none other that @DugaldIC with Ackerman steering :) This video was filmed with a Buwizz 2.0, 1 M-motor for drive that powers boxer V6 and servo. This build uses 100% of the parts from the rally car. [C-model] 42055 D model-Supercar with test stand

Hello! msk here. This model is my second 42055 C model so I named D model. First here. Harftrack vehicle with rubber band gun. I can't write long so let's start. Conneced car with stand. Don't have any physical connection so can disconnect easly. Just lifting car using hand. Car function 1. 6 speed gearbox 2. custom-made differencial gear 3. openable trunk 4. working inline-4-engine 5. openable bonet and working cooling fan 6. working steering wheel Stand function 1. 2-speed motorise wheel roller 2. [C-MODEL] 42050 - Lightning Rod

Finally, I got myself to build a 42050 C-Model out of the second set I bought purely because I liked the A-Model too much to tear it apart. Had some general ideas, but couldn't decide between a Hot Rod and Dragster, so I built both in one package. It has a hidden function of "adjusting the stance" which is purely for style and, if exaggerated, makes the car, uh, "un-dragable", but some moderate amounts of adjustment make for nice change of style. Features: ► V8 engine with moving pistons ► twin carb adorned with velocity stacks + hood tach ► radiator + cooling system + front lights ► ribbed hose headers and dragster-style Zoomie exhausts ► rigid transmission w/o differential ► steering connected to HOG ► cockpit with a (non-functioning) steering wheel, dashboard and gear shifter ► adjustable "stance" ► wheelie bar (adjusted with stance) ►namesake "Lightning Rods" in the back of cockpit for decorative purposes -

(or "I can't bear to mix up my sets' parts", or "I only want to take apart one model at a time" ). Missing a great C-model? Broken link? Wrong info? Let me know in the discussion topic. There have been some excellent alternate builds or C-Models showing up lately. I'm a big fan of these, as they open up new opportunities for those of us without a huge collection of spare parts, and in my view every one increases the value of the set in question. It's obviously a big challenge for the designer to work from a restricted pool of parts, and it's clear that certain sets lend themselves well to alternate builds. I also get frustrated when I come across a great C-Model topic, which I then can't find again later. So as my small contribution to EB, here is what I hope might become the definitive C-Model index, helping us all keep track of these great models, and in many cases, their instructions. Rules for inclusion: Uses parts from only one set; That's about it! Index structure: taking into account the useful suggestions of other eurobrickers, I've decided on the following structure: An index of sets is further down this first post (organised by date and set number); Each set will have its own post below. [MOC] Snowmobile 42065 C-model

This is my first "published" c-model. It took me the last 2-3 weeks in total to build it. It was one of the reasons, why i paused on my speed-racer :) When my daughter (5) baught this model (42065 Tracked Racer), she wanted a lego rc car wich she could play with. But since the steering with the 2 tracks is pretty complicated and too hard for her, i decided to build a model with a regular steering from the set. I was thinking about building a halftracked vehicle at first, but then i decided to build a snowmobile. It was a really hard way, because of really limited amount of parts in this set (369) and the fact, that there is not a single gear included in the set . All in all i think i totally rebuildet the model 3-4 times until the current result. I still dont like it 100%, but its ok to play with for my daughter, and i need time for my own project again :) What funtions does it have?: - PF drive + steering - pendular front suspension - working handlebar (can be used as HOG) - virtual "differential" aka linear clutch at the rear axle for better steering. Motor drives left side front of the tracks, right side is connected with the clutch at the rear axle. - seat acts as PF-on-switch. A driver sitting down on it will move the battery-box to "on"-position :) -> you can see it in the video Here you can see the linear clutch in the middle of the "rear axle" footrests size comparision leftover parts Technically the chassis idea is based on something like this. -
[C-MODEL] 42055 BWE E model-bucket wheel carousel

Hi! Another C model of BWE. This time, I use banana gear for real gear.(C of harftrack don't use that, D of supercar use only mudgard.) I don't have design sense, so use bucket for horse(or something vehicle)in carousel. Like I did in C and D, instruction will soon. -
42055 Bucket wheel excavator - c-model

Hi there, after thinking a while about a possible c-model I found one that needed just about two hours... the main idea was to build a smaller sized version of the dump truck which is included in the 42055 set (very similar to the 42035). The dump truck runs in a double wheel made of eight annular gear quarters. It is driven by the XL motor. The big wheel can rotate in both directions, so the little truck will drive either uphill or downhill - just like a hamster in his wheel. That's all. No gearbox, no gimmicks, no intricate mechanisms. Just for fun... might be a rate of about 3 % of the 3,900 parts... so there are enough spare parts for some more modifications and additions ;-) (maybe a gear box after all, or a more sophisticated array for the counterweight). http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=569964 (One of the biggest challenges in this c-model was the fact that there are only three tan-coloured axle pins - but the truck needs four wheels. So I used a dark red 3L axle with stop for the rear wheel on the right side (not visible on the pictures). ;-) -

Here in the UK we have a bank holiday coming up. In case you were looking for something to build, I have recently finished creating 4 C-models from sets 42026, 42046, 42011 & 42060. The first two were inspired by set 42010 (dirt racer), the second by the record breaker pull back and the pair of motorcycles by the double snap with hole which reminded me of the front forks of a motorcycle. As I've disassembled the models I've taken pictures so you can build them yourselves. Visual instructions are on bricksafe. -
[TC5] Logging Loader

For the C-model contest I figured I'd have a shot at doing something with 8049, as of all the sets I have in the parts range, this is one of the few with a useable number of the same wheel type (amongst other reasons). This is just a quick sketch built in LDD, a Logging Loader. Its functions are: Pneumatic lifting of the two-stage crane arm Worm screw operated claw Crane rotation via the light on the cabin roof Two-stage steering via the exhaust stack - this articulates the body of the vehicle while simultaneously steering a rack-and-pinion mechanism on the middle axle, so all three axles are at a different angle Pendular suspension on the rear axle Working with pneumatics in LDD is a bit of a pain, to put it lightly. I'm not sure about the positioning of those elements as yet on the crane arm, but adjusting them will be easy enough when I build it with bricks. It uses about 400 parts at a rough guess, the pneumatics parts here are made of multiple parts so distort the true part count. -
[C-Model] 42060 Orbit Mechanism Ideas? (Swing-out Bot)

I was recently given a 42060 road work crew set with the challenge to build something dancing related with it. The Swing-out is a staple of the Lindy hop dance style. It basically resembles a highly eccentric orbit like a comet, where the follow comes from arms length to close to the lead, is turned about and then moves away again (this can be repeated until either party has had enough). My question is what is the minimum parts to achieve an 'orbit'. So far my attempts require separate mechanisms for the in-and-out (using the tracks as a conveyor) and the round and round. The set has ample orange parts with which to build the dancers who keep one hand linked the entire move. -

42059 alternative model. Uses all parts from the set (exl. spares). No functions whatsoever except for inherited pull-back motor and quite pleasing looks. It showcases the "40 years" part nicely. It's a rear-engined landspeed hot rod, inspired mostly by "belly tanks". Looks better with lower profile front tires borrowed from 42046 Getaway Racer (last pic). Bonus: can be used with minifigs! LXF FILE - I might have missed something. The model SHOULD USE ALL PARTS from the by the A-model. If there are any leftovers, please inform me. The pink parts obviously represent the pull-back motor. The bit that sticks out in the front should of course be rotated as in the pictures - LDD won't allow you to do so. With better tire setup: -
SlammerVan RC - 42030 C-Model

Here's a little 42030 C-model (+ extra wheels, ONLY added extra parts). It was meant to be just a remedy for boredom while ill, so I build "just so", whatever comes to my mind - just wanted it to be remote controlled. But I quite like the result: a flamboyant van perfect for just cruising around and scaring people. It performs well enough for a heavy, single XL motor-powered model. The gearing somehow makes it slower on reverse which is a fringe benefit, realism-wise. Steering is quite good, turn radius is tight. 35 studs long body + 5 studs long "wings". Functions and feats: ► RC driving and steering ► sliding side doors on the right side, opening doors and fuel cap ► supercharger's scoop in the rear tilts up to reveal the gap leading towards the on/off switch that is activated by rod that can be kept on a special pivoted rack inside the van (you can use the "flag" poles as well, but that's just barbaric) ► non-functional decorated interior, including seats, steering wheel, gear shifter and handbrake ► details such as supercharger scoop, roof-mounted horns, floodlights and break lights, rear view mirrors, exhaust pipes, fenders, flags, radio antenna, floored interior -
42043-C MB Zetros [MOC

Hi! Today I finished the 3d model of 42043-C Zetros, so the complete instruction files is on the way! ..... This is my very first Moc that I have published, but the project isn't 100% finished yet. Got the 42043 Set last year, and then decided to rebuild it into an alternative build [C-Model] This is how the model looks like now, it needs a touch before it's done. The model is based on the real life Mercedes Benz Zetros. Technical detail will come as soon as possible, but here is some picture of it. Like the 42043-A this model has a pneumatic crane without the buckets. the crane is build with one pneumatic hose going through the turnable, It allows the crane for turning 4x360 degrees without damaging the hose. 4 valves is mounted at the back of superstructure for controlling the 3 pneumatic cylinders. Crane lifting capacitet: 200 grams of lego[full exspanded] Outriggers been rebuild too, because those on 42043-A had some issue under load. these ones are build like those on 8110, But also allows to fold the outrigger-leg upsite for better clearence. Outriggers arms is controlled independ [2 functions]because of the missing feature with tilting the Flatbed. Battery Box mounted at the back of the cab. with a openable cover. Steering is build like on 42043, and controlled by the 2 beacons. the cabin was hard to build with the few white parts in the 42043 set, but I think i maded i pretty good. UPDATE will come soon! A collection of c-models! These are all c-models that I designed for 42043, 2 of which have instructions (FREE!) and the third's are in the making. [C-MODEL] 42054 Monster Truck

On August 8, 2016, I said I've had the set on display for a couple months, but I finally made a C-Model. And it's actually a monster truck. The body is completely my own design. And it uses something I saw in a rock crawler, by the builder "Max Lego." When one turntable turns one way, the other one turns the opposite way. There have to be obstacles of the same size for each axle, or the body tilts. Please tell me what you think, and have a great day. -
NEXO KNIGHTS Lance's Plane & Trike - 70312 Alternate (MOC)

Lance's Plane & Trike My 3rd alternate model of Lance's Mecha Horse. The plane features a spinning propeller, working missiles, opening cockpit and detachable shield. The trike rolls on the ground and uses Flamethrower's mohawk for aiming the arrow gun. Both the models are surprisingly solid. -
