    [K-D10] The Hamilton Belt Mine

Okay, I might've overdone it a little this week. The build consists of 2331 pieces and should be legal/stable (I've actually added a couple of "bearing pillars" behind the scenes, so it would make sense in real life. This is a continuation of Commander/Agent Beltar's build from earlier this week (which can be found here: http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=109963), and it's actually implemented (almost in its entirety) in this one). I hope you like it! Tags: Building, Mining, Space, Kawashita, Engineer, Structure --//Transmission Begin. Date: 3105(38)15. Scramble code: kliuJHBGaow8a3rllvmMma.//-- Q's log: The Hamilton Belt Mining, 31 Maian 3815 I arrived at the asteriod which Agent Beltar discovered last week on D10, The Hamilton Belt. As Mister S noted, it is quite peculiar to find liquid Awsomnium on an asteroid like this. However, I do have a theory to why this is the case here. After doing some readings, I found that the whole asteroid is highly ferrous (Note to self: After Awsomnium mining is finished, consider asteroid for metal mining). Due to the high frequency, rotation of the asteriod, this result in creating a highly erratic magnetic field. Now, if the once solid Awsomnium deposits of the asteriod suddenly became liquid, such as through a high energy Gamma burst from a nearby star, the quickly shifting magnetic would probably be enough to infuse the Awsomnium with enough energy for it to stay liquid. Hmmm... The magnetic field would actually also explain Beltar's difficulty in reaching HQ, as it would scramble most of his transmissions. Very impressive of his robot, PauL, to withstand such a field... In all honesty, it almost seems like PauL has been able to withstand... *ehm*... "scrambling"... better than his owner. When we arrived, Beltar started shouting... actually, it's probably better if I include the actual recording: Q's log: Arrival at The Hamilton Belt, 29 Maian 2815. Audio recording. Beltar: "ARE YOU HERE? REALLY? OR ARE you just in my mind? Like the others?" Q: "I can assure you Agent, me and my crew is really here, and we're here to extract the deposits you found." B: "OH, YES! There's so much Awsomnium, you should really see it! Okay, bye." Q: "Yes, we will, that's why we're here... wait, are you going? Where? B: "Can't talk, must get off this rock. Been here 2 weeks. Bye. PauL, let's go!" PauL: "Yes sir." Recording end. Seriously, that guy hasn't had any real contacts with humans in weeks, he has this conversation, and then 10 minutes later, he is off? I hope he turns out okay, especially considering that he left most of his resources here. Also... what's up with his skin tone? Anyway, back to the matter at hand... The mining is going well, despite there being some... interesting abnormalities as a result of finding liquid Awsomnium on such a small asteroid. First of all there is the gravity. The Awsomnium doesn't stream and fall as much as just... floating in different directions. However, the effect is not as noticable as one might think - I estimate that the Awsomnium is still "falling" at a pace around 1/5 of Terra's gravity - once again a result of the asteroid's magnetic fields. Still, there is something oddly soothing about watching those slow-falling purple "water falls". In order to pump up the Awsomnium in the most efficient way, I've invented a pump type which I call "The Sweeper". Essentially, what it does is have a number of autonomous, semi-intelligent "arms", which home in on fast flowing Awsomnium currents, leading them to the "final resting place", and when that is swept up, back to the original well. At the moment, Awsomnium seems to be flowing from the core faster than we are able to sweep it up (again, the magnetic fields), but I have my crew out, making adjustments, in order to bolster the Sweeper's efficiency. There also seem to be some durability issues with the pipes due to the extremely high energy density of floating Awsomnium. Still, it's not outside the expected range. I expect that, when running at full capacity, we should be able to extract all Awsomnium from the asteroid within 2-3 weeks, generating 25-30 standard size tanks, which should be able to power our fleet for at least a couple of weeks. 4. Communications / Supply Station Linopeia III [M-B03] Lady Kianna, Engineer 30 Maian 3185 Engineer’s Log: Hot today, dry, no signs of man eating yellow or brown frogs. Finished installation of the forward Communication and Supply Station. All systems are working perfectly. Installed the security perimeter towers in six locations around the site. Supplies fully stocked, one Orbit Bar noted as missing. Galactic Juice, Hydrolyzed Water, Corporate Coffee, full stocked. Energy generators and power rods, stocked. Will need to send special report to HQ; pure Awesomnium detected by accident when drilling for support poles for the station. Containment rings placed around two wells, bubbling with Awesomnium. Moved location of supports, station is stable. Side Notes: The Awesomnium seems to be located under sage like plants with bright red flowers. As the lakes recede and the ground drys there seem to be no signs of the frogs, they must need the wet sandy soil. As I was leaving I noticed a third Awesomniun spring bubbling up under a sage plant near the front of the station. That brings the total number of wells to three. This is a superb site for drilling. I will send a full report upon return, calling for pick-up from site now. Lady Kianna ending log report. Front view Ramp down front view. Interior view. Side view, new Awesomnium spring. C&C Welcome. Hope you enjoyed it!

    [M - B03] Experiment X2B03

Excerpt from the lab book of Big Sal: Date: 27 Maian 3815. Experiment Code: X2B03. Lead Scientist: Big Sal. Laboratory: Linopeia III Facility, Xenobiology Lab 2. Aim: Investigate local wildlife for useful properties. Excerpt ends. "Johnson, stop messing around with my awesomnium! That's the first batch from Ninja Nin's drilling machine, and I need to store it here because my materials lab is still being repaired." "Fine, fine. Wait, Sal, isn't that one of the man eating yellow frogs that nearly killed Lady K's team??" "Calm down, it's sedated. I've run all the usual tests and there's nothing interesting. Just extreme aggression, virulent toxins and regenerative abilities." "Those sound pretty interesting to me Sal!" "That's why I'm the lead scientist, and you're not. Now, let's inject it with some of my new awesomnium extract." "Uh, that doesn't sound very safe. Especially since the combination of the extract and the regener-" "Damn it Johnson, show some backbone for once! Science isn't about being safe!" Excerpt from the lab book of Big Sal: Method: Despite my objections on safety grounds, Johnson insists that we try injecting the new awesomnium extract into the predatory yellow amphibians discovered by Lady Kianna. Prediction: The serum may react in an unpredictable manner with the creature's regenerative abilities. Excerpt ends. "Nothing's happening Sal. Let's just forget this ever happened and... WHAT THE F???!!!" "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" Excerpt from the lab book of Big Sal: Results: Awesomnium extract caused extreme growth in the creature and negated the effects of the sedative. The creature was driven away by laser pistol blasts but appeared to suffer no significant injury. Its resilience may therefore also have been enhanced by the awesomnium extract. Conclusions: A combination of the awesomnium extract and a serum from the creatures could lead to powerful combat drugs for our special forces. Extreme care will be necessary. Safety Report: Johnson's reckless approach to science, despite my warnings, led directly to his death and the destruction of the laboratory by the enhanced creature. Were it not for my heroics in driving the creature away, dozens more lives may have been lost. Is there a chance Johnson was an Octan or Kawashita agent trying to sabotage our research? Excerpt ends. I had a lot of fun with this one! Comments and criticism welcome. Here's the whole build: (Ok, so I forgot to take a photo before the lab was destroyed )

I didn't see this coming. https://www.flickr.com/photos/126127660@N07/17475536873/ Brickset article Could this be the building game we've all waited for? Is this the modern version of Lego Universe properties? Is this a Lego-version of Minecraft? (Which is sort of like a digital version of Lego?) I was hoping Dimensions would feature something like this, but if this turns out to be the game with a sandbox building system then I'm fine with that.
  8. M.A.N.T.I.S Engineering Department Date : 26 Maian 3815 Location : Linopeia III - B03 Environment : Desert Participants : Lady Kianna; Ninja Nin; Big Sal Log update : With our Commander Lady Kianna and her team 's effort in exploring the planetary surface, the M.A.N.T.I.S. has finally discovered a high Awesomnium Concentration Zone. Our top scientist Big Sal has also prepared his laboratory for material analysis. It is time the for the Engineering Department to show their work. On such rough and desolate environment, I chose to launch my first prototype of the: M.A.N.T.I.S. Awesomnium Drill ( a.k.a. the MAD ! ) An extremely powerful laser drill which can cut through rocks and it's programmed to collect all Awesomnium into its storage. Lady Kianna and Big Sal have arrived for the field test. A few boxes of sample are prepared for Big Sal's experiment. I hope the CEO Lady K is pleased with my prototype.
  9. Location: B03 - Linopeia III Tags: Military, Piracy, Building. M.A.N.T.I.S Special Forces log: Myra Dynarski 20 Maian 3815, Linopeia III. Previous entry "I've arrived at the building. It looks secure, but their security protocols are very poor. I guess they don't have visitors often. Stun gun is fully charged, combat analysis probe is deployed. Injecting stimulants and engaging the enemy." "All enemies subdued. Heart rate up 20% from usual, adrenaline levels up 200%, accuracy up 1.7%, reflex speed up 30%. Mission successful, awaiting retrieval." The door opens! Okay, in future I'm making sure I edit out the background before I shrink the pictures.

    MOC: The Blacksmith

And another castle MOC! Here's my latest work The Blacksmith: Near the center of the village sits the home of the village blacksmith. Working out of a small shop connected to his house, the blacksmith provides trustworthy work to the local farmers, soldiers, and craftsmen who need a horse shoed, a plough sharpened, or a tool repaired. The sound of his hammer striking metal can be heard throughout the countryside, and the cozy outdoor shop often serves as the site of friendly socialization and sharing of news for the village residents. Another build incorporating the technic-pin roof technique I've been playing with. I love the way it looks and the versatility of it's shape, but it can really be a pain to work with. Also, building houses is kinda hard...getting the roof shape and building proportions right can be complicated. Something I need to practice more. Thanks for looking! Soli Deo Gloria!

    [M - B03] Experiment M5B03

Excerpt from the lab book of Big Sal: Date: 20 Maian 3815. Experiment Code: M5B03. Lead Scientist: Big Sal. Laboratory: Linopeia III Facility, Materials Lab 5. Aim: Assess local rock sample for precious metals. Excerpt ends. "Well, I suppose I'd better get on with aligning the lasers." "The other lasers are fine, but the connections on this one are a bit loose. However... to fix it I'd have to go borrow a ladder from Sci-X's lab, which would mean actually speaking to Sci-X... I'll just leave it - what's the worst that could happen?" Excerpt from the lab book of Big Sal: Method: Precious metal content will be analysed using newly designed quad-laser quark-gluon spectrometer. Prediction: Analysis will reveal any subatomic impressions of awesomnium, gold, mithril or copper, effectively scanning the whole of Linopeia III with just one sample. Excerpt ends. "Everything's set up - time to fire the lasers!" "Everything seems to be working as expected. Wait, what's that tearing sound?" "Whoops! At least it didn't damage the highly explosive gas canister it fell on..." Excerpt from the lab book of Big Sal: Results: Quark-gluon impression spectra contains distinct awesomnium signature. Conclusions: High probability of extensive awesomnium deposits on Linopeia III. No other precious metals detected. Spectrometer worked perfectly. Safety report: No incidents to report. However, on returning to laboratory after experiment, evidence of large explosion causing extensive damage to laboratory. I suspect Octan or Kawashita sabotage! Excerpt ends. Comments and criticism welcome! Here's the whole build:
  13. Kawashita Engineer's Log - AC - B09 Serium I've arrived on Serium with my construction team shortly after Mister S' and Narbilu's teams arrived. Both teams took differing areas of the planets to scout round to begin with to maximise the amount of the data that can be gathered in the first few hours of arrival. We've landed our construction crew near to where Mister S first landed for now and have begun construction here. This particular small desert island has a decent amount of space for initial construction and is nice and level which will make creating foundations for structures easier. A good choice for centering land based construction, although a number of floating platforms will be required. First things first though, with the large bodies of water and few islands, there's a distinct lack of landmarks to navigate by, so we've begun by assembling a Navigation and Comms Beacon on the sand. The mast is a little bulky looking for what antennas and sensor arrays are currently mounted on the top, but it should be more stable on this surface and will save complete replacement when more arrays are added later. Not sure how well the relay cabinet will cope in this heat. May need more ventilation, but we don't want too much sand getting into the works. It should be okay for a while though.

[ MOC ] Modern Fire Brigade

Hi everyone! I got this interesting idea of a fire station some time ago, and built this in two weeks, the fastest building I have done so far. I have no intention to get the now-expensive 10197 Fire Brigade, which doesn't really appeal to me. However, I am thinking, if I am to build a fire station, what design should it be? All fire stations have the distinctive feature of the big gates for fire trucks and the walls that separate them, no matter what the buildings look like. I took that idea, and thought about extending these bays to the second storey. At the same time, what if the interior walls grow so big that they grow outside of the facade walls? And so I turned the sketches into real thing. I choose dark red as it is less prominent than bright red, giving a more sophisticated color scheme for the city. Inside, you have everything a normal fire station would have: parking bays and equipment racks on the ground floor: Captain talking to the staff... On the second floor, there are pantry, resting room and toilet on the top. There is even a ping-pong table for the firemen! "Hey why are you two playing table tennis on the street, huh?" One of the play features here is the light. I put the red light brick at the corner and so when there is alarm, you can light it up and the firemen will be ready to go! I hope you like this modern building design, thanks!

  24. Sergio's LEGO Ghostbusters headquarters has not made it past the LEGO Ideas review stage. I suspect the size of the project might have had something to do with it. Sergio's LEGO Ghostbusters headquarters with interior included is made up out of 5704 bricks. To date there have only been two official LEGO sets which consisted of more than 5000 bricks. With that in mind I have designed a smaller LEGO Ghostbusters headquarters in the same scale as the LEGO modular buildings. The backside of the building has been left open for playability and display. For even better access the stairs can be removed. The interior has been recreated as faithfully as possible from the Ghostbusters movies. The wall panel with the bell and the office area were quite a challenge. They are build half sunk into the double walls. The blank square behind Venkman's desk is supposed to be a framed black and white photograph from the original Ghostbusters movie. I still need to make a legofied version of this and add it in. I've included, among other things, a camera and monitor setup showing a terror dog, a "last of the petty cash" meal, a dancing toaster, and jars of slime. At some point I would like to do a side-by-side comparison of screenshots from the movies and the LEGO versions. The pinball machine is supposed to have a Star Gazer backplate. I still need to make a legofied version of this and add it in. Janine Melnitz and Louis Tully minifigures. Making a smaller Ghostbusters headquarters does require a smaller Ecto-1. Brent's Ecto-1 unfortunately won't fit inside the building, at least not without removing a large part of the ground floor interior. But perhaps LEGO could include the smaller version of Ecto-1, similar to how LEGO included a smaller version of Metalbeard in Metalbeard's Sea Cow set. The number of bricks used comes to 3008 bricks with the smaller Ecto-1 not included, and 3264 bricks with the smaller Ecto-1 included. Which would mean the LEGO Ghostbusters headquarters would cost somewhere around €190 with the smaller Ecto-1 not included, and somewhere around €210 with the smaller Ecto-1 included. I've submitted this building on the LEGO Ideas site. It currently has about 4000 supporters, so it can still use some support. Help make this become a real LEGO set and support! Me and the CCBS

When the CCBS was first introduced in 2011, I didn't really MOC with it on its own very often. I usually integrated what little CCBS I had with standard Bionicle parts. At that time, I also built much more complex models using the G1 parts and Technic. But, as my CCBS collection grew, I decided to keep my CCBS and G1 parts separate, which led me to start MOCing with the systems separately. I really love building with the CCBS, and back then it was nice to take a break from Technic and over-abundant greebles and just build simpler things - like a holiday for the imagination. But, as time went on, I found myself MOCing with G1 parts less and less... To the point where I haven't so much as touched my G1 parts collection for any other purpose than to scavenge for weapons or masks for CCBS MOCs. When the Bionicle reboot hype really got going, I started integrating gearboxes into my CCBS MOCs, adding functionality and more longevity into the building process. So now, I don't really MOC to make things as custom as I can, like I used to, but rather just to make things which are fun to build, nice looking and poseable, without stressing myself out. Before now, I'd spend weeks perfecting a design, getting annoyed with myself when something I'd spent hours on didn't look right. That was sometimes really stressful. But now that I MOC with the CCBS, the creative process is actually therapeutic more than anything. Snapping the bones together, slapping on the armour shells and addons, swapping out different colours, spending some time perfecting a characters mechanism/s... It's just nice to spend an hour or less putting somebody/thing together. Yes, CCBS MOCs can be somewhat samey, but I'm working on that. Things like gearboxes and other mechanisms are one of the many steps I am taking to ensure that. But again, I'm not building to blow people away with my technical prowess - rather, I'm just building for my enjoyment and relaxation. I don't want to be doing the same thing every time though, which is why I am beginning to experiment with new things. Is anybody here of the same mindset? Or am I just weird?
