    [M - B06] Sorn Sabotage

Location: Sorn, B06 Tags: MANTIS, land vehicle, spying, military, building AG: Sorn Sabatoge by David FNJ, on Flickr Double D's log 12: Kawashita developed a large shield over several of their buildings that is blocking some of our larger vehicles and spacecraft from forcing them to surrender. I am being sent with a few MANTIS operatives to go inside the shield's boarders and take out the shield generators so that reinforcements can finish the job. Our mission, get in, get out, and watch it blow! It's all or nothing! ~ DD out The epic looking doors and spiral columns Roof of the building Yup! Full interior! Gotta have those sci-fi crates! The doors slide open and the locking mechanism works! You can't open the doors without first detaching them. Each lock sets into place on a black stump with the yellow stripe. Because the rod sticks out only a little bit, it makes locking, unlocking, and setting the locks into the black stumps easy and efficient without sacrificing functionality. Next are the photos that show some action shots and rockwork. Finally, the MANTIS Jeep ------------------------------------------------- This was a BLAST to build! I'm very pleased with how this creation turned out from the colors, the building details, the interior, the rockwork, and the MANTIS Jeep. This is definitely my favorite MANTIS creation so far.

    [M - B06] MANTIS HQ

Location: B06-Sorn Tags: Civil, Building, Vehicle, Exploration Job: Explorer This week, I was sent to a MANTIS HQ on Sorn, to explore under the surface. It was teeming with wildlife and plants, some of which I took samples of. There was a boat load of supplies being unloaded too: Lots more pictures here: Link I really like how this build turned out, especially the underwater section. C&C welcome

    [M - B06] Mission K8B06

Location: B06 Tags: Vehicle, Land/Water vehicle, Building, Military Ah, finally I get to have my revenge on Kawashita for capturing me last time I was on Sorn. And you're sure you'll be able to disable their defenses? Of course, Captain Read! Let me tell you again about my heroic escape... That won't be necessary- It all started a month ago when I woke up in a dank cell... Wha... where am I? Nowhere you'll like. You're a prisoner of Kawashita now, and your... 'debriefing' is about to start. Come with me. Let's start with something easy. Who are you? Who do you work for? I'll tell you nothing! M.A.N.T.I.S. agents are trained to resist torture! So you work for M.A.N.T.I.S.... Damn it! We may as well skip ahead. We know you're Big Sal, first branch executive and chief scientist of M.A.N.T.I.S. You may as well admit it and save yourself some pain. Big Sal? Never heard of him. What kind of name is that anyway? What? Well, is Big his first name? Or is Sal? But then what's his surname? I...uh...hang on... You'd best check your intelligence - sounds like you've got it all mixed up. You don't tell me what to do! Guard, take him back to his cell! This isn't over for you... Pssst! Mr Sal! Never heard of him! Who are you? I'm Dr Wu's assistant, remember? I don't understand why you're being kept prisoner. I hope this won't affect Dr Wu's chances of getting the Nobel Prize! Wait, you still believe that? Maybe the Persuadomatic's effects are permanent! Or maybe this guy's just really dumb... What was that? Uh... I mean, yes, I'm afraid this will affect her chances. You need to get me out of here right now so she can still get the recognition she deserves! Oh, right away! Nice work! This way! When we get to the top floor I'll distract the guards so you can sneak past them. So I said to him 'Kawashita? I hardly know her!' Heh heh heh. HAHAHAHA! How funny! You again? For the last time, the prisoner isn't from the Nobel Prize Committee! Speaking of which, I'd better go check on him. Damn! Best find another way out... No, wait! Get out of the way! Freedom! These look nasty. May as well hack in a remote backdoor access in case we ever want to come back here and free the other prisoners. PRISONER ESCAPED! SOUND THE ALARM! Uh oh... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! ...and then I swam all the way back to M.A.N.T.I.S. territory! Uh, yes Sal, while I'm sure the troops are very inspired by your story, we're nearly in comms range of the outpost, so you'd better get on with disabling their missiles. We're in weapons range now Captain. Very good. Acquire targets. How's it going Sal? Getting there... Captain! We're detecting their weapons powering up! Sal? They're targeting us! SAL! Oh sh- INCOMING! -------------------------------------------------------- <TRANSMISSION LOST> -------------------------------------------------------- <TRANSMISSION REESTABLISHED> -------------------------------------------------------- Damage report! Shields took most of the damage Captain. All systems operational except long range comms. We've really got to start using our own software... Return fire! Take out that missile battery! Firing now! Target destroyed! Excellent! Move in! Commander, prepare your troops for Mean and Nasty Invasion! Well, I finally got to tell the tale of Big Sal's captivity. Unfortunately it made the post a bit long - thanks if you made it to the end! C&C welcome! A few more pics in the spoiler.

    Roofing Houses

I have a question. I really enjoying building minifigure scale houses, however I always hit a bit of a brick wall (boom boom) when I get to the roof. I have tried with plates and tiles - looks good, but corners etc can be complicated. I also like the regular Roof Tile bricks that Creator houses are built with, they are certainly easier to get around corners and build more complex roof structures with. My question is: Is using the standard Roof Tile (Sloping Brick) considered a bit basic for a build of any detail? Interested in your opinions! Cheers

    [K - C06] KGMA - part 1

:: Hyreal C06 :: :: Kawashita Group Military Academy :: part 1 of ? Early Julali AD 3815 I went to a small planet near Orinshi, called Hyreal. A suitable planet within range of our home planet where KG can settle a secondary base of operations and where KG can train operatives in the different environments and the harsh reality of Andromeda. A lot of hands and machines started with the plans I drew out. Now it is time to share the progress with my board of directors. With pride I show them the Wall, as I call it. It has a mixture of bricks and metal, strong enough to withhold any alien or corporate adversaries. Operative Q and Commander Turtle walk with me along the inside of the Wall while Mister S. conducts an inspection of the Arc terminal where the construction is in progress and will be finished early next week. Aeralure and the rest are out on missions, but will join later on. Commander Turtle checks the “Big megablocks Gun” at the main gate and is astonished what manoeuvrability and firepower it has. My team can’t wait to see the rest of the facility. Link to Part 2 Link to Part 3 for Honor & Glory

    [K - D04] A Place to Call Home

[K - D04] A Place to Call Home Location: D04, Terrial Minor Tags: Building, Kawashita Okay, had some trouble to get this online (forgive me Bob! ), but now everything is running as it should. This is another build which I thought would be small, but somehow became much, much bigger than I expected. At ~4500 pieces (of which the buildings are around 3500, it's actually one of my biggest builds to date, parts wise (however, there are lots of small parts, since it's a micro-build). I've wanted to build a floating structure for quite some time now, but other ideas came in the way. Then I got some inspiration from Turtle's excellent micro-build last week, and I ended up pursuing that thought. All in all, I'm quite satisfied with the build. However, there were some things I didn't have the time to complete, such as more details in the actual city (more trees, decorations, and possibly a road network), a much more expanded hangar-area (including coming and going ships, a larger "baseplate" for the hangar level, and more details in general), plus the underside, which was supposed to be more "Bespin Cloud City"-esque, where the bottom structure would fold up when going into landing mode. But... I guess it serves me well for not starting earlier... In this case I would actually recommend looking at the unrendered pictures (under the Spoiler-button) since the Bluerender rendering really doesn't do it justice. --//Private Log Begin. Date: 2707(38)15. Scramble code: aiufIIUHnbffka72nFKJf.//-- Except for "Honour and Glory", one of the most recognizable sayings within Kawashita is "Never consider a planet home". While Orinshi is officially the Kawashita Group capital in Andromeda's Gates, there is actually very little activity going on there. This goes hand in hand with another popular saying: "We go where the opportunities are". As a consequence of this, it used to be easy for Kawashita personnel to get a bit "travel sick" from never going "home". The solution proved to be as simple as it was brilliant. Instead of designating a planet "home", Kawashita started bringing "home" with them when moving. As such, floating cities were born. As a result of Awsomnium being an extremely concentrated energy source, it was possible to build cities which were both powered and kept floating thanks to large Awsomnium reactors. The floating cities of Kawashita come in all shapes and form. While bigger military fortifications are generally built on the surface, Kawashita's floating cities is an excellent way to move around civil personnel while still keeping them "home". Depicted above is the Hoshijiro, named after hero who gave up her life in order to save humanity. The Hoshijiro hosts ~50,000 inhabitants and can be easily moved aboard Dreadnaughts, such as the Akena class vessel. The Hoshijiro has two parts; the upper part, which is supposed to feel like any other city, complete with a large park, a monorail system, a hospital and various forms of entertainment, and the bottom part, which hosts aircrafts, land vehicles, research labs and engineering bays, and various other necessities to quickly be able to prospect new planets. While Kawashita hosts an impressive military, which is mentioned again and again, it's often easy that it's the civilian population which provides the means for the company to prosper, and for Kawashita, it's floating cities is a large part of that prosperity. --//Private Log End. 9. Builded as a joint venture between the civilian and the military branches of Kawashita Corporation, this green house were built on Vollfort as a Botany Laboratory; the planet was an arid desert, with little fauna and flora, perfect to place a Botany Lab with very little interference from the outside environment. Engineer Alexander Vandangant was tasked to build the compound and, in a matter of days and hard works, he builded one of the most advanced greenhouses of the galaxy with all the needed to conduct any type of reaserach around the fauna world, like adavanced laboratory and cold storages. Now the head scientist, is giving him a tour of the compound in fully operative, with people working and studying the flora. = = = = = = = = = Here we are! I finally finished this build; it took me a while, first it started as a zero-G greenhouse to be used on space stations, but then, finding some technical and style issues, I changed completely idea going for a planet-type building. I really like the outcome and I hope you Enjoy it!
  10. 19 Julali 3815 C04 Aeristus Tag: Engineering, Military, Building/Structure Engineer: Lady Kianna and ORB Engineer's Log: The weather has been especially nice. Warm sunny days with a slight breeze blowing to the southwest of us, ORB has been proving his usefulness as a member of the team. With a new paint job and new attachments, removing obstructions is easy for him and he seems to be enjoying the work. After the success of my last mission I was chosen to design a very special structure for the planet Aeristus. Intelligence reports indicate a large presence of Kawashita members in the immediate area. Also included in those reports was the observation of them working with an alien race. The mission handed to me and my new assistant ORB was to establish a stealth listening post. Due to the large areas of grasslands, this was a major challenge that ORB and I were more than happy to take on. The results are very pleasing to the eye and to the ear....... "Ok, ORB we are finished here, what do you think"? "I think my grass trimming skills equal your engineering skills, my Lady"..... "You did a superb job my friend"! "As did you, my Lady, my friend"....."And now The Temple Of The Green Light is ready for any and all who wish to visit here". "ORB, I hope they do visit, and conduct secret business inside....where all that they say will monitored in the new forward base". "Come on ORB, lets get you some more training with your new attachments....." "I really like my new swords, my Lady, very useful......." "Useful indeed, ORB, useful indeed....." Hope you enjoyed seeing C04 Aeristus as much as I enjoyed building it! C&C Welcome!

    [K - C04] The Finishing Touches

[K - C04] The Finishing Touches Location: C04, Aeristus Tags: Land Vehicle, Vehicle, Building (the hangar, the judges will once again have to decide if it counts), Kawashita I have actually wanted to build a skeletonized mech since a couple of weeks ago, and now the time has finally come. The mech is somewhere around 830+ pieces, not including background or minifig. Since I got some scolding (hehe) from Bob a couple of weeks ago, I've put a lot of focus on buildability, rigidity and poseability, and I'm fairly certain it would be possible to build the mech and pose it essentially any way you would want IRL. C&C welcome, as always! --//Alpha Level Encrypted Private Log Begin. Date: 2007(38)15. Scramble code: ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... [Encrypted].//-- [Alpha Level Encryption... Checking Security Clearance Level... ... ... Passed.] When exploiting a new and uncharted galaxy, there always seem to be some kind of emergency. One minute you're doing frontier science, developing a teleportation drive never before seen in human history, and the next, The Board insists that you drop everything in order to develop new weapons to fight M.A.N.T.I.S. with on the frontlines. *Sigh*, wouldn't it be better if these kinds of tasks were handed to lower level employees? I mean sure, I guess I'm kind of in their debt since they gave my quite a promotion despite The Heart of Awsomnium being destroyed, but in the end, it's just a title and some extra credits (which in the end go back to Kawashita, I mean, who else would I buy things from?)... No matter what, it's always quite nice to finish up a "little" project. Sometimes you just want to jump in there with a screwdriver and put in those finishing touches yourself. In the end I must say I'm fairly satisfied with the VBHAR (Very Big Heavily Armed Robot) - 207. With its standard loadout, consisting of a heavy duty arm, and a combined gatling laser and missile launcher, it can quite easily destroy most types of enemy craft. Thanks to its high mobility, including a newly developed anti-gravity ring (Note to self: we should seek to replace this with teleportation technology as soon as possible), it should also be able to avoid most incoming damage. Right now, it just needs some custom plating and then it should be ready to go. --//Alpha Level Encrypted Private Log End. Signature: Lt. Gen. Q. 12. 12 Julali 3815 Planet (F02) Lesser Dringo Tags: Engineering, Building, Piracy, Military Engineer’s Log: Lady Kianna I have been sent to Lesser Dringo by The Council Of Five on a secret mission to evaluate a new water extraction research / research lab established by Octan. According to Intelligence reports, Dr. Long will be visiting to personally verify reports of an alien object discovered when the water extraction began. My assignment is to observe the water extraction process and bring back valid evidence of this alien discovery. I will record my observations as I go for a more detailed report. Meanwhile, in W.E.R. Lab Beta: Dr Long: “A cubicle, really? For someone as important as me!? Well at least I have a complete view of the whole lab and can watch all the workers from here…..and they need watching, bunch of lower pay grade technicians. And that ORB, really? I have been given an outdated and useless, repair bot! At least the strange alien artifact is something….I could write at least three scientific papers on it! Maybe more if I stretch out the research time……yes, I could do that! Oh great, now the large exhaust fans turn on….I can’t even hear myself think….breath, happy place, paperwork…….” Laughter could be heard from inside the building, as the three lab technicians Frank, Robert, and George were having a little fun with ORB, while Dr. Long was trying to find a happy place doing relaxing paperwork for Octan. Frank: “Hey any bot-y got a screwdriver to fix this”? George: “Nope, but I could sure use a hammer over here…..” Robert: “Yeah and I could use a crowbar…….but all we have out here is an outdated overworked and useless Obsolete Repair Bot”! Over in the corner poor ORB hid his single eye and drooped his antenna in extreme sadness. He was not useless, overworked yes, outdated….maybe but the newer models simply didn’t have what he did. He had what the humans called personality, he could think for himself and fix whatever was needed before being told to (well he really could if he still had all his tool attachments…all he had left were two wrenches attached on opposite sides of him). Outside the lab: (recording on)….“This is Lady Kianna reporting from the Octan Water Extraction/Research (W.E.R.) Lab Beta on Lesser Dringo. I have the building in sight, the lab really stands out with the bright white, red and green colors of the large building against the colors of the surrounding arid desert. I had no trouble finding it. No guards visible, the doors appear to be activated via a pressure plate. I am going in”. (pause) (resume).....“I have entered the building, note to self..these are really cool doors…I see three lab technicians and Dr. Long is in her….cubicle..?…(at least we give our scientists real offices)… she appears to be enjoying doing paperwork…the large wall fans seem to be providing excellent noise coverage…..My plan is to approach the lab techs (I will use the new tranquilizers Big Sal developed)…wait is that a Obstruction Removal Bot? I thought all corporations had phased them out by now. Wow, what a find, those Bots were the best! Very reliable, durable, and could handle any job. It looks like it is missing all but two of its tools, and appears to be leaning against a wall? Odd, never seen that before”. (pause) (resume)…..“All three went down without a struggle, one was mumbling something about woman in the desert, I’m sure that will go over real well with Dr. Long when they awake…the lab is clean and orderly, the work station can be overseen from the cubicle….the water extraction system is a good design, albeit a little unstable if there should be any shallow quakes due to magma moving close to the surface……” “May I help you’? “What? Who spoke? “I did my lady, I am ORB”. “Well I am pleased to meet you, why are you pointing a wrench at me”? “It is for you to shake, that is what friends do in greeting”. “I am shaking the hand/wrench of ORB, who is my new friend”. (pause) (resume)…”I have found the alien artifact just laying here all by itself….looking dangerous and lonely….I think I will just have to take it with me….Big Sal will love this… wait, ORB why are you following me”? “I want to go with you when you leave. You talked nice about me when you were hiding outside talking to yourself….I could hear you”. “You could hear,….. I wasn’t talking,….. oh never mind, yes you can go with me…..time to go ORB , the lab techs are waking up, good thing we placed them by the coffee machine….and Dr. Long is standing up……”(pause) (resume)….yeah, gotta love those pressure plate doors……now back to HQ to give a full report….I have the alien artifact and ORB with me. Lady Kianna signing out! (recording off) Back in the lab: Dr Long: “Why are those three sitting on the ground drinking coffee (storms down the stairs)….what are you three doing? Your last break was 4 hours ago and you don’t get another one for another 4 hours”! Fred, George, Robert (speak all at once): ….”Dr. Long there was this mysterious woman in the desert and…..” Dr. Long: “Wait stop right there….you expect me to believe a mysterious woman appeared out of nowhere? Really? Now get back to work on analyzing the alien artifact and fix the water extractor……And where is that obsolete bot”? Additional photos: Showing the water extractor The Lab The entire build Thanks and I hope you enjoyed your visit to (F02) Lesser Dringo. C&C Welcome. Sorry for the longer story full of pictures. It was my first time at a more in-depth build and character development.

    [M - C04] Experiment L2C04

Unfortunately I didn't have any time to build last week, so this week's build is a special double length episode. Hope it's not too much! Location: C04 Tags: Civil, Science, Building. Interrogation Room 1, M.A.N.T.I.S. Supply Ship, Sorn orbit, 6 Julali 3815. …and then I swam all the way back to M.A.N.T.I.S. territory! Very impressive! Chief Accountant Long! Come to hear about my heroic escape from Kawashita captivity? I’m afraid I just finished my debriefing… I’ll read the report of your little vacation later Sal. I’m here to give you your next assignment. Vacation?! I was brutally tortured! M.A.N.T.I.S. Employee Handbook Chapter 3 Section 12 Subsection 14 Line 6 clearly states that time spent in enemy captivity comes out of your holiday entitlement. WHAT?? It encourages a speedy escape. Anyway, enough chitchat. I’ve noticed that we’re currently spending over 0.0000001% of the budget on daily anti-histamines for employee hay fever. This is an unacceptable inefficiency and I want it fixed by next week. You want me to cure hay fever? In a week?? Yes. Though by the time you get to Aeristus you’ll have five days. Attempted treatment: Massive exposure to alien flora. I really don't see how this will work… Chief Accountant Long will be here tomorrow expecting a cure! You got any better ideas? Treatment outcome: Failure. --- Date: 12 Julali 3815. Subject number: 005. Subject hay fever symptoms: Extreme paleness. Attempted treatment: Psychosomatic therapy via the Persuadomatic. You do not suffer from hay fever. You have never suffered from hay fever. You especially don’t suffer from hay fever today. I completely agree! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! What’s happening to me! I don’t suffer from hay fever! I've never suffered from hay fever! I especially don't suffer from hay fever today! Shhhhh! That’s Long’s ship landing! I’ll have to go up and meet her… but maybe if I leave the Persuadomatic on I can convince her I’ve found a cure… Treatment outcome: Failure. Excerpt ends. Chief Accountant Long! How lovely to see you! Right this way! Is that the Persuadomatic? Why yes it is! A wonderful invention of mine, wouldn’t you agree? Yes, it’s actually very impressive... Praise! I think it’s working! ...of course, as soon as I heard that it actually worked I took the antidote. Damn it! Now, I believe you were going to demonstrate the hay fever cure? Um… yes. The subjects are outside in the grass and you’ll see that they’re completely cured. Voila! They’re all wearing helmets. Helmets are even more expensive than anti histamines Sal, this better not be your idea of a cure. Hahaha… uh, no, of course not! It’s just, uh, the berries from that tree are quite heavy and if they fall, well… as you know, employee health and safety is my number one priority! Yes. Helmets off please. You see? Cured! Hmmm, good work Sal. Achoo! Damn it! Goodbye Sal. You’re to stay here on Aeristus until you’ve found a cure. But… Phew! Comments and criticism welcome! A couple more pics in the spoiler.

    [K - A08] The Heart of Awsomnium

[K - A05] The Heart of Awsomnium Location: A08, Crentium Tags: Spaceship, Building (the hangar, the judges will have to decide if it counts), Science, Kawashita Before we begin, this story is a direct continuation of Agent Beltar's post "A Strange Deal" which was posted earlier this week, so it will make a lot less sense if you haven't read that one. It's also the culmination of a 3 week storyline I have been doing (previous entries: "More Than Meets the Eye... and The Investigation Continues...). Earlier this week, I discussed with a friend and fellow AG builder. He said that I should probably build a little smaller, since the details might get lost when the size gets too big. I pondered upon this and thought "yea, that makes sense... I should start building smaller things". Then I completely f*cked that up and went on to build my largest build yet. The spaceship is a bit over 3900 pieces, and then there are various scenes, etc. on top of that. The design might seem a bit odd at first, but take into account that it's supposed to be a prototype for testing this particular engine. Now, let's begin. (Since Bluerender renders transparent images very dark, I've decided to include unrendered versions under the Spoiler button directly after the renders. Also, isn't it odd how much "Light Stone Grey" in LDD looks like white?) --//Alpha Level Encrypted Private Log Begin. Date: 1307(38)15. Scramble code: ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... [Encrypted].//-- [Alpha level clearance check... ... ... ... ... Passed.] As expected, Agent Beltar "came by" earlier. After making sure he received the mail from Lauren, I was pretty certain he would seek me out, and that I would get my pilot for The Heart of Awsomnium. When we got down to the hangar and he first saw the ship, Beltar immediately let out a little gasp. It was clear that he was impressed, despite doing his best to hide it. Recording... begin: Beltar: You want me to pilot... that? Q: Yes. Remember, if you do this for me, I'll get you your files on Lauren. Beltar: *Sigh* Fine, so what is it that is so special about this ship? What do those rings back there do? Q: The Heart of Awsomnium is the first recorded attempt of teleportation by mankind. Beltar: *O_O* What?! Q: I know it may be hard to grasp. A couple of weeks ago, we came across what seemed to be an Awsomnium generator created by an ancient civilization. However, some things were quite off about it. It didn't seem to have any way of outputting the energy, and we found it in the middle of the ocean, not near any other recorded ruins. So, I ordered a team to bring it here in order for me to study it. After a few days, it was clear that my suspicions were correct; it was the remainder of an old teleportation experiment. After a lot of tinkering and even more calculating, I finally managed to create this prototype drive. It is still fairly large, but I hope I can reduce the size over time. The "rings" which you refer to are part of a black hole generator, which has enough pull to fold space-time, thus creating a wormhole between your current location and the destination, which you will go through. Beltar: So... you wish me to become swallowed and spit out by a black hole? Q: If you want to put it like that... yes. Based on my calculations, the shuttle should be able to withstand the pressure, and you should survive. Beltar: And then you will give me the files I need? Q: Yes. [beltar ponders for around half a minute.] Beltar: Fine, in for a penny, in for a pound, right? Also, if this goes according to plan, I'll be the first teleported human! Q: Yes, I suppose. I have downloaded PauL into this smaller astromech droid shell, which will fit in the dock of the ship. The ship is ready whenever you are. [beltar boards the ship and flies it out outside the Kaiju.] Q: I have set the ship's coordinates so that you will be teleported to Marden. It's a peaceful planet within our area of control, so you shouldn't have any problems. As soon as you arrive, set up a comlink to me, and I'll have the coordinates for you to be teleported back calculated. Beltar: Roger that. [beltar takes a deep breath, closes his eyes and turns on the teleporting device.] Beltar: Am I alive? I am alive! Yattaaaa! Wow, awsome, I am the first teleported person! You rock Nu'q! Q: Uhm, all those are technically correct, but it seems you have ended up near Mynderis instead. Also, it seems like you ended up right next to a large M.A.N.T.I.S. fleet. Beltar: Oh, it's gonna be one of THOSE days... Recording... end. The prototype testing was in the end considered a success, despite the loss of The Heart of Awsomnium. The incorrect location of the teleportation device was found to be a result of a minor miscalibration in the calculation software. This has since been fixed. Thanks to its highly explosive Awsomnium core, it seems like the Heart of Awsomnium was completely destroyed and thus unable to be recovered by the nearby M.A.N.T.I.S. fleet. Preliminary readings suggest Agent Beltar managed to escape. His current whereabouts are however unknown. --//Alpha Level Encrypted Private Log End. Signature: Col. QL. [M-A04] MANTIS Mining Base

Location: A04-Mynderis Tags: Building, Vehicle Job: Explorer My next assignment for M.A.N.T.I.S. was a hot one. They wanted me to get some lava samples from Mynderis for them to analyze. I wasn't too enthused by the idea, until I was told I would get to use the MES (Mini Exo-Suit), which was too good an offer to refuse. I took the samples next to a recently constructed Awesomnium mining base, which was in full swing. More pictures here: Link C&C welcome

    [M - F02] It's Been Mapped

Location: Lesser Drigo F02 Tags: MANTIS, spying, building AG: MANTIS LD HQ by David FNJ, on Flickr Double D's log 7: After a successful mission that planted MANTIS™ MTD© devices in Octan water extraction plants, I headed to a newly-built HQ where I would be able to send out an encrypted key that would give us the locations of the MTD© devices so that we can quickly locate Octan's facilities and carry out other necessary missions. After sending the correct encrypted signal from the computer, the MTD© devices popped up on MANTIS™ servers for only half a second before they disappeared (of course the locations were saved). After several hours of analyzing the data and other maps, we found out Octan likely had several extraction facilities that were concentrated around larger volcanos and exporting stations nearby. What was also interesting were "paths" that seemed to form river-like structures. Eventually it was confirmed that these paths were indeed rivers that ran underground. What was even more interesting was that it seemed that Octan was unaware of this river system. After a bit of debriefing, I and another Special Forces operative were ready for our next mission. Now that Octan has its entire water extraction program mapped, all that is needed is....oh wait, someone might be reading this. We have already sent Isaac Northwest from here, so you two will be going Southeast. Yes, we suspected that there would be an underwater river system, and this data from the MTD© devices that got carried away by the currents confirms it. Thankfully MANTIS™ built this HQ overtop of the suspected river system - now we can access almost any Octan water extraction facility we want. Yup, and we are now installing security systems that will be better than Octan's systems. You ready for this? Oh definitely! You first! Already on it ~ DD out ------------------------------------------------------------- More pictures of the HQ (with the working cranes that open up the floor) and the ground underneath it in the spoiler. I always wanted to do a rock cave underneath a building, and here is my first attempt! I started out with the opening floor which was a lot of fun to make. Hope you enjoy!
  18. [K - B05] The Investigation Continues... Okay, so, somewhere in the creation process, I lost around 3 hours of work, so the scene ended up quite differently from my original idea. However, I'm very satisfied with the result (I've been wanting to build this particular mech (which is also my first), for quite some time now). The build is around 6500 pieces, of which the mech is around 800. I had some trouble uploading the pictures, but the build was still posted before the 10:00 GMT deadline. --//Alpha Level Encrypted Private Log Begin. Date: 0607(38)15. 19. [M-B06] Sorn Supply/Science Station 28 Junali 3815 Lady Kianna, Engineer’ Log: Water, water everywhere. I have found a shallow slow moving current of Awesomnium flowing with the mineral rich waters of Sorn. The only land available is sharp small islands (rich with Awesomnium) but very difficult to build on. I have chosen a site above the current to build a platform supply and science/research station. Big Sal arrived as I was finished so I left him to set up his supplies and experiments while I went back to the supply ship for more stock items. One of the perks of this particular job is I get to be the first to test the M.A.N.T.I.S. RHIB 2000. With a large area for supplies and even larger super charged turbo fan engines made to deliver heavy supply loads in a quick amount of time, I returned to the base in time for a shocking sight. Big Sal had his experiments set up and things are……growing quickly….too quickly…I’m not sure I want to know what is in those two tanks on one of the platforms, and why is there a glowing spider sitting atop a vial of something?…… As I unload the supplies, Big Sal waves and heads up the ladder to the roof. I follow and immediately feel concerned……carrots are not supposed to look like that, there is large disturbingly green leafy things and a good portion of the metal I had used on the roof and equipment has turned the color of the Awesomnium (note to self…eat MREs this week even though they really are Made Rarely Edible). I suddenly remember I have forgotten something important back at the resupply ship and take the RHIB 2000 out to deep sea……empty cargo space with full throttle I can at least temporarily forget what I saw and what I will probably have to eat next week……. Hope you enjoyed B06 Sorn. C&C Welcome.

Nevertheless, we M.A.N.T.I.S. are here for the gold, so I should carry out my duty to construct a gold mine, or more appropriate, the M.A.N.T.I.S. Secret Hide-Out. OK, let's begin a guided tour. First of all, a keep out sign, especially for the Octan. A water tower, important in such dry arid desert environment. Let's go inside. A common room for engineers to relax and play cards. SpacerSteve was supposed to be here to guard the gold storage, but he's on Barker's Folly this week, so his intern is sent here instead. Explorer Little John is on the top spot for a better view as usual. Our hide-out is under attack by the Kawashita: Commander Turtle and Graham Gidman are spotted. Little John and the intern will defend the gold at all cost. It is also the time for me to launch M.A.N.T.I.S. Cannon Hovercraft. Complete Setting : The Gold Mine on Guinevere "M.A.N.T.I.S. 25. Kawashita Engineer's Log - AC - A06 Guinevere There's a lot of activity on Guinevere at the moment due to a conflict of interests between Kawashita and MANTIS, but I've managed to settle down to some work in one of the base areas out of the way of most people. I thought it was hot when I was working on Serium, but the heat here on Guinevere is so much worse due to the volcanic activity. I'm just glad we've got this new air conditioning unit installed on one of the upper floors of the base, although it does appear to have a few teething troubles. One of the monitor lamps is amber showing a potential fault, so I'll have to have run some diagnostics and fix the problem before it lights up red to indicate a critical problem. Just hope it's nothing to do with the intake filters. Don't want to have to go out on the gantry to look at them in this heat if I can help it. Not the greatest photography as usual from me. Additional photos below showing the whole scene. Would have taken more story based photos (and hopefully better quality ones), but took them in a bit of a hurry so that I can quickly post this before I go to bed.
