  1. Hello, I would like to present to you my second Modular building that I did in April this year. I wanted to present it with building instructions, that's why it took me so long to show it here. The building instructions are available for free at Rebrickable: http://rebrickable.c...lar-flower-shop The flower shop is located at the ground floor with small area for customers and behind the counter the shop keepers place. The entrance to the building is from the front for the customers and there is also back door for the owner. The owner's apartment is on the first floor - it is one big room, just as the ground floor. Then, there is removable roof. The instructions differ slightly to what's shown on the pictures as I didn't have all the right bricks at the time of building. The details changed are pavement colour to match official modulars, some gutter reinforcement and carpet on the first floor is now one plate higher. So.. here goes picture, I hope you'll like it :) First, my modular in all its glory ;) Now, the ground floor, the actual flower shop: Here comes the first floor apartment: ... and the roof: Here are all three modules together: and here's how it looks like with my first modular - the Ice Cream Parlor (http://www.eurobrick...opic=111129&hl=) If you want to have a look at some more pictures, please go to by Bricksafe gallery: http://www.bricksafe...lar_Flower_Shop

    MOC: Rua Amarelo

Hi folks, My long running saga of a project has finally been finished. Inspired by a trip to Portugal this summer, Rua Amarelo is a corner street featuring a Pasteleria and a hat shop. The yellow corner building is perhaps more authentic in colour and I would of preferred to have made a tiled effect for the narrower building but could not source enough tiles from what I had at my disposal. Really would like TLG to bring back sand red in an assortment of pieces! No interior this time but I'm hoping to have something to see inside on my next MOC which is already planned. Anyway on with all 4 of the pics; You can view them at flickr if you so wish https://www.flickr.c...s/52656812@N04/ Comments welcome!

    [MOC] Schrippenkneter's Bakery

Bäckerei Schrippenkneter by Filius Ruclio on Flickr Best bakery in town! The corner-building in the Bricksuferstrasse is owned by Schrippenkneter's since 1852. Schrippenkneter cultivates baking tradition since then. Today Alois and his trainee Tim supply Snottingen with freshly baked croissants and so on. (As every day!) While in the second floor baking is ongoing Alois' wife Alice sells the daily production in the first floor parlor. In the third floor Karl Schrippenkneter is enjoying his retierement. Today the chimney sweep is doing his job on the rooftop. Schrippenkneter's backery is a modular building with nearly 3430 parts and was build between may and october 2015. I used SNOT building techniques for the facade and the roof. Working hard in the workshop Location: H06 Tags: Building, Civil, Engineering, Land vehicle Working this past week has been brutal, I have been redesigning the new Mech. to be out fited for mining and prospecting but I just haven't gotten that far. I have managed to recruit on of my Octan robots and programed him for welding..nice to think that I do not have to supervise...right?..I mean what can go wrong?... and a short flick to see the welding clicking it will take you to my flicker page and run the movie Sorry for the pictures, flicker was having issues and I wanted to make the dead line. Cheers C & C are always welcome
  5. Hello all, I am in the process of designing several different fighter air/spacecraft and am running into a brick wall for seat design. I've tried google-fu, but I keep running into James Bond-style car ejectors and horrible-looking seats that actually throw the minifigure. I want neither of these, so I'd like to ask here. The builds are all at minifigure scale, and I would love some help/advice on how to make decent looking seats. They don't need to actually eject or move, but I want to be able to include a parachute/small backpack on the pilot figures. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

    Bikeshop and office corner Modular.

Hey all. I proudly present you my very first modular MOC, technically my first two modular MOCs: There are two buildings on a 32x32 baseplate forming a modular corner. Let's start with the blue one Corner bikeshop On the ground floor there is a small bikeshop, where my townpeople come to buy and repair their bikes. The studs in the front will be used to build a bike rack like you can already see on the left side. On the tan tiles I will put a sticker with the bikeshops name on it. The interior is quite simplistic. A cash register, some wall hooks to display cycling equipment(must be sold out) and some tools, a cash register, a backroom where the bikes are repaired and of course a selection of bikes, red and azure being the colours of the season. Here you can see a better picture of the bike racks I am going to put up all over the city when the pieces arrive. The first and second floor look the same and will eventuelly house office spaces. They are still empty since I seem to suck at furniture. I would highly appreciate help in the comments ;) The highlight of this building is the rooftop bar, which overlooks the deep IKEA Expedit river and most of the town. Then off to the red building, but beware, adult content incoming ;) Stripclub and appartment building After a visit to Amsterdam I wanted to recreate some of the architecture and atmosphere to my LEGO town. So I made a classic innercity townhouse out of dark red bricks and huge windows. Only the roof is not quite dutch, I made it to fit my existing collection of modulars. If you have ever been to Amsterdam you will recognize these windows from the red light district. I decided to soften the purpose of the building in my town to "just" being a stripclub. This is the stripclub where the rebels went to forget the battle of Hoth actually. Above the club there is the appartment of some lovely old folks. They do not mind living above our loud stripclub, in fact gramps ownes the place and his wife was one of the first dancers there in the 50s. Looks like they are having a feast with the profits the club is making. All in all their appartment is quite nice, with a loggia on the first floor and a big terrace on the upper floor. The appartment features big windows and classy interior. Backside: Front: The buildings sit together with the palace cinema on a small shelf, divided by the great Expedit river from the rest of my modulars because I ran out of space on the "mainland" so I guess the next project will be a bridge connecting the two. Criticism, praise, comments and questions all welcome. :)

    [MOC] Elephant Building

This gorgeous tall building was once an architectural highlight of the city. It was also one of the centers of business activity, usually overcrowded by citizens. Everything changed when alien invaders suddenly came from the darkest depths of Earth. Giant drilling machines pierced the earth surface, and myriads of underground creatures flooded into the city, forcing its inhabitants to flee. Elephant Building sustained severe internal damage and now it is on the verge of destruction, although its facade and distinctive columns remain intact. Let us discover the interior of the building while it still stands. Ground floor hosts a media shop with very expressive shop windows. It used to be just a bookshop at first but later the assortment has been broaden with music and video. Ironically, the shop window dedicated to books was first to be destroyed. Above the bookshop we can find a private apartment where there is something going on. It was once owned by a respectable but stubborn family who refused to move when the building was being turned nonresidential. However, at some point the apartment was occupied by a group of dangerous criminals. Some said that this apartment became the very center of criminal activity in the city. Despite evil intentions of these people, let us hope that nobody was inside the bathroom when it was smashed. Coincidentally, there is a bank office right above the suspicious apartment. It is unclear whether it was a target of the criminals or their own organization. Anyway, it was not them who made the big hole in the floor. Also, there is a courtroom in the attic... ...And a shed on the roof. It is a perfectly ordinary shed, but who knows, maybe someone has been writing music inside of it? And here is some of the furniture used in the building. Model characteristics: 32 x 32 corner modular building. Building comprises 3 stories, an attic and a shed on the roof resulting in an overall height of 45 bricks. Model consists of over 8500 parts. Additional links: Photo album on flickr Building instructions are available on Rebrickable.
  10. Hi all, Few months ago, I realised this MOC for the TechLUG forum. I enjoyed very much to reproduced this building, so I decided to promote it and create it in lego IDEAS website (https://ideas.lego.com/projects/115929). I Hope you like it as much as I liked create it. The German Federal Chancellery is a recent building with many interesting details. You can find much details on the history of the building on the wikipedia page here : https://fr.wikipedia...dérale_(Berlin) unfortunately it seems to be unavailable in english... It as in the same line that the Paul Loebe Haus, the Federal Parliament which I made previously (http://www.techlug.f...it=chancellerie), but it is another story... I tried to enumerate all the particularity of the building and reproduce with accuracy on my model, I will show you them in the end of the topics... My model, main entrance : River side : Birds eye view : Archs : ---- MORE DETAILS / COMPARISONS ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Size, scale from birds eye view : Each side building is made with "glass cubes" : 3 cubes placed side by side / 1 empty space / 1 cube / 1 empty space / 3 new cubes It is the left side construction. The right aisle is cut by the Spree river. The left side is finished by a thin piece of concrete with a hole on the side. I tried to reproduce that. It is not as round as expected. The main problem is in the fact that I made a ground with 2 plates height max to respect the architecture standards. Each side aisle has on its face a groove in the concrete. I made them with the brick 2x1 with groove http://cache.lego.co...5/2/4264360.jpg Each side aisle start with a gable end In the interior side of the aisle, there are large windows In the middle of the main entrance, there are 3 flags. I used the same trick that in the 21018 UN HQ set. The main entrance has many artistic concrete parts. I tried to be accurate, but it is not easy because of the dimensions. Behind these parts, the entrance with round concrete on the first floor The main building is higher than the side aisles and has two big windows archs These archs are just under the roof. the roof is round with 2 triangles of thin concrete On the rear of the building, a nice garden with trees on the sides Here is details of some constructs ideas : the first floor : The rear aisle windows : trees : I hope you liked it, I read all until here ! Your C&C are most welcome... and maybe your support on Lego ideas website https://ideas.lego.com/projects/115929 ;)

    MOC The Knight Museum

I love museums, particularly the Museum of Civilization in Hull, Canada (now the Canadian Museum of History) and the Field Museum in Chicago. Having recently discovered collectible Lego Minifigures (I know a bit late, but better late than never), many of which have a historical theme and Lego putting out sets based on one of my favourite cartoons growing up, that being “Scooby Doo Where Are You”, I really wanted to create a Museum that incorporated all these things. After my kids got me the Tower Bridge for my birthday I had enough Lego to attempt my own creation. So here is my version of the Knight Museum. Help the Scooby Doo gang at the Knight Museum find clues and defeat a gang of villains trying to steal precious artifacts. The first episode in the original Scooby Doo cartoon series had the gang solving the Mystery of the Black Knight in the County Museum. A secret passage (behind a portrait of the Fat Lady that leads to the roof) and various hiding places allow the villains to hide out and plan and execute their nefarious plot. This lego creation tries to combine the fantasy of Scooby Doo with beauty and treasure of real life museums. This Museum has a dinosaur exhibit, and historical exhibits from Europe, Asia, the New World, and Ancient Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians. An observatory is located on the roof for star gazing. Under the stairs is a research area, a gem display and storage for unused display items. The Museum is built on two 32x32 stud base plates and is roughly double the size of a traditional modular building. Each layer and the roof can be removed as in normal modular buildings. Hope you like it. I had fun building it. Enjoy. 14. Having recently taken inspiration from SearchFunction's 'Living Small' builds, I have finally gotten around to finishing this MOC. It has been rebuilt a few times, reducing the size to try and get the scale right. I would be more happy with more detail on the interior but I am signing this off as finished, so I can move on to my next project. I present to you a Bungalow with Dormer. Currently resided in by Dave the Flower Cart seller. This building comprises of an enterance hall with stairs to the first floor. On the gorund floor, a spacious and well equipt kitchen leads you to the light and very large 'lounge diner', complete with french doors to the garden, bay window to the front, fireplace and an inviting bay window seat. Upstairs we have the large master suite, which has its own sizeable ensuite bathroom. It took me ages to get the roof to sit correctly. It is largely based on SearchFunctions plate design, however i have added some 2x2 tiles to try and get that slate roof effect. I did have skylights in one version of the second floor but it didnt give me much room to work with so I went with the dormers instead. Planning out the top floor was very tricky due to where the stairs came up and not eating into the bedroom too much with unnessecary walls and corridors. With regards to the large amount of Tan... this is what happens when you buy the Tower Bridge as your first set for building mocs with. Hey ho, it doesnt look too bad, Struggled with detailing the exterior, hopefully the next one will be better right? There are more pictures on my Flickr account. C&C always welcome and thats again to SearchFunction for the inspiration. 15. I work at a hospital and talked a rep into letting me by this baby. They are surgical pliers. Of course it is new and not used. I have been using them for a while now and they are wonderful helps. Mostly for grabbing and pulling out stubborn pins. There are little teeth like a set of pliers so they grab and hold real well. I like them better than pliers because they are narrower and can fit better in tight places. I can also hold axles and connect with connecters or bushes in tight spots that otherwise I could not. I used to have to redo whole sections of build b/c I could not access tight spaces b/c of my fat fingers.... but with this baby I have not had to do that. So this got me thinking..... what, if any, tools do people use as they build? I know pliers are common.... any others? If any one has access to surgical pliers, I would greatly recommend them. Here is another pic

    Roofing Houses

I have a question. I really enjoying building minifigure scale houses, however I always hit a bit of a brick wall (boom boom) when I get to the roof. I have tried with plates and tiles - looks good, but corners etc can be complicated. I also like the regular Roof Tile bricks that Creator houses are built with, they are certainly easier to get around corners and build more complex roof structures with. My question is: Is using the standard Roof Tile (Sloping Brick) considered a bit basic for a build of any detail? Interested in your opinions! Cheers

    [M - B06] Sorn Sabotage

Location: Sorn, B06 Tags: MANTIS, land vehicle, spying, military, building AG: Sorn Sabatoge by David FNJ, on Flickr Double D's log 12: Kawashita developed a large shield over several of their buildings that is blocking some of our larger vehicles and spacecraft from forcing them to surrender. I am being sent with a few MANTIS operatives to go inside the shield's boarders and take out the shield generators so that reinforcements can finish the job. Our mission, get in, get out, and watch it blow! It's all or nothing! ~ DD out The epic looking doors and spiral columns Roof of the building Yup! Full interior! Gotta have those sci-fi crates! The doors slide open and the locking mechanism works! You can't open the doors without first detaching them. Each lock sets into place on a black stump with the yellow stripe. Because the rod sticks out only a little bit, it makes locking, unlocking, and setting the locks into the black stumps easy and efficient without sacrificing functionality. Next are the photos that show some action shots and rockwork. Finally, the MANTIS Jeep ------------------------------------------------- This was a BLAST to build! I'm very pleased with how this creation turned out from the colors, the building details, the interior, the rockwork, and the MANTIS Jeep. This is definitely my favorite MANTIS creation so far.

    [M - B06] Mission K8B06

Location: B06 Tags: Vehicle, Land/Water vehicle, Building, Military Ah, finally I get to have my revenge on Kawashita for capturing me last time I was on Sorn. And you're sure you'll be able to disable their defenses? Of course, Captain Read! Let me tell you again about my heroic escape... That won't be necessary- It all started a month ago when I woke up in a dank cell... Wha... where am I? Nowhere you'll like. You're a prisoner of Kawashita now, and your... 'debriefing' is about to start. Come with me. Let's start with something easy. Who are you? Who do you work for? I'll tell you nothing! M.A.N.T.I.S. agents are trained to resist torture! So you work for M.A.N.T.I.S.... Damn it! We may as well skip ahead. We know you're Big Sal, first branch executive and chief scientist of M.A.N.T.I.S. You may as well admit it and save yourself some pain. Big Sal? Never heard of him. What kind of name is that anyway? What? Well, is Big his first name? Or is Sal? But then what's his surname? I...uh...hang on... You'd best check your intelligence - sounds like you've got it all mixed up. You don't tell me what to do! Guard, take him back to his cell! This isn't over for you... Pssst! Mr Sal! Never heard of him! Who are you? I'm Dr Wu's assistant, remember? I don't understand why you're being kept prisoner. I hope this won't affect Dr Wu's chances of getting the Nobel Prize! Wait, you still believe that? Maybe the Persuadomatic's effects are permanent! Or maybe this guy's just really dumb... What was that? Uh... I mean, yes, I'm afraid this will affect her chances. You need to get me out of here right now so she can still get the recognition she deserves! Oh, right away! Nice work! This way! When we get to the top floor I'll distract the guards so you can sneak past them. So I said to him 'Kawashita? I hardly know her!' Heh heh heh. HAHAHAHA! How funny! You again? For the last time, the prisoner isn't from the Nobel Prize Committee! Speaking of which, I'd better go check on him. Damn! Best find another way out... No, wait! Get out of the way! Freedom! These look nasty. May as well hack in a remote backdoor access in case we ever want to come back here and free the other prisoners. PRISONER ESCAPED! SOUND THE ALARM! Uh oh... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! ...and then I swam all the way back to M.A.N.T.I.S. territory! Uh, yes Sal, while I'm sure the troops are very inspired by your story, we're nearly in comms range of the outpost, so you'd better get on with disabling their missiles. We're in weapons range now Captain. Very good. Acquire targets. How's it going Sal? Getting there... Captain! We're detecting their weapons powering up! Sal? They're targeting us! SAL! Oh sh- INCOMING! -------------------------------------------------------- <TRANSMISSION LOST> -------------------------------------------------------- <TRANSMISSION REESTABLISHED> -------------------------------------------------------- Damage report! Shields took most of the damage Captain. All systems operational except long range comms. We've really got to start using our own software... Return fire! Take out that missile battery! Firing now! Target destroyed! Excellent! Move in! Commander, prepare your troops for Mean and Nasty Invasion! Well, I finally got to tell the tale of Big Sal's captivity. Unfortunately it made the post a bit long - thanks if you made it to the end! C&C welcome! A few more pics in the spoiler.

    [K - A04] Mynderis Deployment

The new objective of the Kawashita Group was Mynderis, a incredibly hot planet, constantly erupting and changing. It was choosen for its large reserves of Awesomnium but seemed MANTIS already placed a few plant and facilities on the planet but this didn't stop the Kawashita executive to carry out its plans. Engineer Alexander Vandangant was tasked to be part of the plan; thi time not to build from scratch a new outpost but to take control of one of these facilities, why destroy them when you could take the control and save resources and time? With a Covert Operation squad to support them, Alexander and his squad of enginers landed on Mynderis and started their work, silent and swiftly... = = = = = = = = = And here we are! I'm really happy again with the result again, AG is really stimulating me to bring some nice works out of me! I hope you Enjoy!

    [K - D04] A Place to Call Home

[K - D04] A Place to Call Home Location: D04, Terrial Minor Tags: Building, Kawashita Okay, had some trouble to get this online (forgive me Bob! ), but now everything is running as it should. This is another build which I thought would be small, but somehow became much, much bigger than I expected. At ~4500 pieces (of which the buildings are around 3500, it's actually one of my biggest builds to date, parts wise (however, there are lots of small parts, since it's a micro-build). I've wanted to build a floating structure for quite some time now, but other ideas came in the way. Then I got some inspiration from Turtle's excellent micro-build last week, and I ended up pursuing that thought. All in all, I'm quite satisfied with the build. However, there were some things I didn't have the time to complete, such as more details in the actual city (more trees, decorations, and possibly a road network), a much more expanded hangar-area (including coming and going ships, a larger "baseplate" for the hangar level, and more details in general), plus the underside, which was supposed to be more "Bespin Cloud City"-esque, where the bottom structure would fold up when going into landing mode. But... I guess it serves me well for not starting earlier... In this case I would actually recommend looking at the unrendered pictures (under the Spoiler-button) since the Bluerender rendering really doesn't do it justice. --//Private Log Begin. Date: 2707(38)15. Scramble code: aiufIIUHnbffka72nFKJf.//-- Except for "Honour and Glory", one of the most recognizable sayings within Kawashita is "Never consider a planet home". While Orinshi is officially the Kawashita Group capital in Andromeda's Gates, there is actually very little activity going on there. This goes hand in hand with another popular saying: "We go where the opportunities are". As a consequence of this, it used to be easy for Kawashita personnel to get a bit "travel sick" from never going "home". The solution proved to be as simple as it was brilliant. Instead of designating a planet "home", Kawashita started bringing "home" with them when moving. As such, floating cities were born. As a result of Awsomnium being an extremely concentrated energy source, it was possible to build cities which were both powered and kept floating thanks to large Awsomnium reactors. The floating cities of Kawashita come in all shapes and form. While bigger military fortifications are generally built on the surface, Kawashita's floating cities is an excellent way to move around civil personnel while still keeping them "home". Depicted above is the Hoshijiro, named after hero who gave up her life in order to save humanity. The Hoshijiro hosts ~50,000 inhabitants and can be easily moved aboard Dreadnaughts, such as the Akena class vessel. The Hoshijiro has two parts; the upper part, which is supposed to feel like any other city, complete with a large park, a monorail system, a hospital and various forms of entertainment, and the bottom part, which hosts aircrafts, land vehicles, research labs and engineering bays, and various other necessities to quickly be able to prospect new planets. While Kawashita hosts an impressive military, which is mentioned again and again, it's often easy that it's the civilian population which provides the means for the company to prosper, and for Kawashita, it's floating cities is a large part of that prosperity. --//Private Log End. 24. Builded as a joint venture between the civilian and the military branches of Kawashita Corporation, this green house were built on Vollfort as a Botany Laboratory; the planet was an arid desert, with little fauna and flora, perfect to place a Botany Lab with very little interference from the outside environment. Engineer Alexander Vandangant was tasked to build the compound and, in a matter of days and hard works, he builded one of the most advanced greenhouses of the galaxy with all the needed to conduct any type of reaserach around the fauna world, like adavanced laboratory and cold storages. Now the head scientist, is giving him a tour of the compound in fully operative, with people working and studying the flora. = = = = = = = = = Here we are! I finally finished this build; it took me a while, first it started as a zero-G greenhouse to be used on space stations, but then, finding some technical and style issues, I changed completely idea going for a planet-type building. I really like the outcome and I hope you Enjoy it!
