  1. Challenge Four – The First Treasure Fleet. Eslandola’s prize of New Terra, Nelisa has yielded many wonderful treasures for the economy of its parent nation. However, not much of gold and silver found on the island have been moved to the Old World yet. The King has decided to fill his coffers once more with the riches of his new colonies, and with cooperation from the great trade companies, they plan on moving a large portion of the treasure in a convoy from Nelisa to Terreli. Unfortunately some suspicious characters let loose the secret, and now the whole world is descending down upon the Sea of Storms waiting to take a shot at the convoy and its riches. Due Date: September 25 October 2nd, anywhere in the world Category A: Loose lips sinks ships In this category the builders are going to demonstrate how the secret of Eslandolan treasure fleet was leaked. Be creative, was it a spy? A pay-off? The King himself? Many rumors are floating around, illustrate one of them! The size limitation here is 32x32 with limited overhang. The winner of this challenge will have the right to set up a small settlement on an island their faction controls, and appoint a mayor character under their control (it can be your sig fig if you would like). They will also earn the title: Secret seller of New Terra. Category B: Plunder! In this category, builders will illustrate the plundering of the treasure fleet, or if they are allied to Eslandola (maybe they own a letter of marque?) or Eslandolan, they will depict the defense of the fleet. You don’t have to depict the whole fleet, one ship verses another works, or even a ship coming under internal threat would work here as well. If you don’t want to illustrate this with ship mocs, perhaps your men and women may be plundering the treasure fleet from the docks before it even gets off the boat in Terrelli? Anything goes, as long as the treasure fleet is being plundered or protected. The size limitation in generous, but overall all of the pieces of the MOC, when displayed, should fit within a 80x48 stud rectangle. The winning entry will earn its builder the title: Plunderer of the Great Golden Fleet, or Defender of the Great Golden Fleet. The winning nation will be able to use their new found treasure to invest in further discovery and will obtain one island and name it. Prizes - To Be Determined
  2. Challenge Three – The quest for the Fountain of Youth It has been rumored that on Cato Calrelli’s second voyage in 599 to Nelisa he took along with him a Oleander priest who paid handsomely to join the expedition. On the 15th night of the journey, the priest of Zeus, Father Tholeau, snuck inside the captain’s boat and lowered her to the sea. Once detached from the fleet he set sail in the small skiff. The crew had no idea what had happened to the priest, but Calrelli pushed on to discover more of Eslandola’s new home “beyond the line.” After Calrelli encircled Nelisa, he began to make his way home, but before land was out of sight, a small sail was seen on the horizon. Fearing foreign explorers had found Eslandola’s secret, Calrelli boldly set to engage the vessel. What he found was his captain’s boat, empty except some clothing and a journal. There was no sign of Tholeau. Calrelli read the journal, and discovered that the priest had been obsessed with an ancient manuscript that stated that the Fountain of Youth lay on an island to the East of Halos. The journal detailed Tholeau's recent escapade and his discovery of three islands. On the third of those islands he found what he was looking for – the Fountain of Youth. Knowing he did not have enough supplies to try to follow Tholeau's poorly noted nautical directions, Calrelli decided to restock. Unfortunately, he was caught by hurricane that wrecked him and his fleet on the shores of Terraversa, and since then, he has been unable to get permission for another expedition. The journal was eventually taken to Arlington, and stored in the Cartography Academy. But somehow a copy of it slipped through the Academy's hands and through a series of accidents made its way to an enterprising printer. Now, adventurers from all corners of the Brick Seas are making their way to New Terra to try and follow the cryptic clues left by Tholeau. Category A: Finding the Fountain In this category you will show the discovery of the Fountain of Youth by your sig-fig or one of his/her associates. This can be almost any setting you wish, on the beaches of an island, in the dense jungles, on a desert island, in the ruins of a lost civilization, or maybe within an active civilization’s town! Maximum size 32x32, with minimal overhang. Deadline: July 1st. Extended deadline: July 10th However, those who submit entries by the original deadline will have a bonus applied to the judges' scores. [*]Post your entry in it's own thread, but be sure to provide a link below. Category B: What happened to Tholeau? Build 2 – 5 MOCs that tell the story of Father Tholeau after he left Calrelli’s fleet. You can represent the good priest in any way that you like. The MOCs and accompanying narrative should tell the story of Tholeau leaving the ships, finding the islands (he mentioned three in his journal), making his way to the fountain of youth, and disappearing. You must build between 2 and 5 MOCs. One of your MOCs is subject to a maximum of 12x12. No other size restrictions. You may not use your Category A MOC in your story. Deadline: July 1st. Post your entry in it's own thread, but be sure to provide a link below. Prizes As with the previous challenges, all players participating in the Economic Game System will be awarded with in-game DBs. Winning players will receive more DBs. In addition, Winner of Category A receives the right to style his/herself Discoverer of the Fountain of Youth. Winner of Category A picks an island on the new map (not yet released) for the fountain's location. That island will belong to the winner's faction, and the winner has the right to set up a settlement at that location and appoint his/her own mayor. Winner of Category B receives the right to style his/herself Revealer of Tholeau's Secret. The winning faction will choose three islands off the new map. All the other factions will choose two islands in the order in which they have placed.
  3. Challenge Two: Defending Yer Claims! On the heels of the initial push for discover comes defending those claims. As the nations slowly figure out what has been claimed, and their diplomats fight within each other’s courts, it depends on the sailors and adventurers “Beyond the Lind” to keep their claims safe. Already there have been groups of sailors turning to piracy, and even violence between those who have not gone “on the accord.” Due Date:April 1st, anywhere in the world. Category A: Protect and Defend In this category you will show the beginning of your defenses against rival nations. It can be on land or on sea. Remember, settlement beyond the line is very limited and rudimentary. Fortresses won’t be made of stone at this point. For this purpose one of the limitations of this second challenge is creating a settlement that would be very new, not more than a year old. IE: mostly wood (there will be more fortification challenges to come, don’t worry!). Remember, there are not a lot of large ships in New Terran waters yet, so if you are building a vessel, it should probably be a sloop of some sort. Max ship length: 32 studs at the water. Max scene length, 48x48, with limited overhang. This category will be judged on build quality, fit with overall story, and presentation. Category B: Strike your Colors! In this category you will tell the story of a battle that happened somewhere in New Terra while the Age of Discovery was young. It can be at sea, on land, or a combination of both. Remember, settlements beyond the line are very limited and rudimentary. Fortresses won’t be made of stone at this point. For this purpose one of the limitations of this second challenge is creating a settlement that would be very new, not more than a year old. IE: mostly wood (there will be more fortification challenges to come, don’t worry!). Remember, there are not a lot of large ships in New Terran waters yet, so if you are building a vessel, it should probably be a small sloop of some sort. Builders will make as many MOCs as they want, but they will be limited to six pictures in their post. This category will be judged on build quality, story quality, fit with overall story, and presentation. Max ship length: 32 studs at the water. Unlimited build size for each picture. The winning faction will get to pick 2 new islands first off the revealed map. The second place faction will get to pick two new islands second. The third and fourth place factions will pick one island. All factions will be allowed to name their island/s, but they must be approved by the leadership council. Special: If you are building a ship for this challenge, you can license it in the EGS, but since it is for the challenge, no DBs can be earned for a free build. The same goes with any properties that you build for either challenge I or II, you may license them, but they cannot earn freebuild DBs. Entries: Your entries for this category should have their own threads, and should be linked back here. It is optional to add the front topic tag. (ie: [COR - Ch1 Cat B] title ) However, the MOC will not be officially entered into the competition without posting a link to it here.
  4. The Crossing Series Mapbc by skaforhire, on Flickr Challenge One: The Great Push for Exploration. As noted, the three main nations of the Madrice Peninsula, Oleon, Corrington, and Eslandola are trying to explore New Terra before all other nations do. Their goal is to claim as much land as possible. In this challenge you will be sailing for your nation in order to find and establish new colonies for the glory of your empire. Or, perhaps you decide to sail to the port of Bastion in the Nest of Thieves to join the Sea Rats. In that case, you will be searching for your own new pirate bases to raid your enemies from. Due Date: February 15th anywhere in the world. Category A: The First Encounter Nobody has every reported seeing a Native New Terran before (outside of Terraversa), but there have been whole villages found on both the isles of Nellisa and Nest of Thieves. So, for sure there must be someone living in New Terra. In fact, reports that Ivo Fortesque has found an Island with natives have circulated throughout the Sea of Storms and the Terraversa Sea. In this category, builders will display the first encounter with a Native New Terran. Make sure to display some of their cultural aspects. For example, perhaps show their type of dwelling, watercraft, or maybe a ritual (these are NOT the limits of acceptability). This category is limited to representations no larger than 16 x 16 with limited overhang. This category will be judged on build quality, story quality, fit with overall story, and presentation. Category B: Land Ho! In this category, you should depict your sigfig’s first attempt at exploration in New Terra. There should be a piece of land involved in this MOC. Size limit: 32 x 32 with limited overhang. This category will be judged on build quality, fit with overall story, and presentation. The winning faction will get to pick 2 new islands first off the revealed map. The second place faction will get to pick two new islands second. The third and fourth place factions will pick one island. All factions will be allowed to name their island/s, but they must be approved by the leadership council. Entries: Your entries for this category should have their own threads, and should be linked back here. It is optional to add the front topic tag. (ie: [COR - Ch1 Cat B] title ) However, the MOC will not be officially entered into the competition without posting a link to it here. Winners!
