    Hello from Germany!

Hallo everyone! After lurking for a while (mainly in threads about "Lego Batman") I decided to create an account! I'm a wannabe writer from Germany and although I don't own that many sets, I have never stopped to be interested in Lego. These days it's mainly the "Lego Dimensions" game, CMF and some of the licensed properties (like "Batman" and "Star Wars") I'm into, but seeing what's new in the catalogue is always a treat! I can't afford much, but someday I want to own the big "Arkham Asylum" set, also I'm always on the lookout for pieces to build some characters from my stories. When I was a kid I always wished for the old pizzeria set, but never got it. I'm an adult now and could probably just buy it myself, but somehow I never got around to it. If it is even available anymore. I'm looking forward to be part of this forum! (A sidenote: I tried for several days to sign up with another mail adress and just didn't get any confirmation/validation mails. Has that happened to anybody else? I had to use a gmail adress that I normally don't use now. If that still can be changed I would appreciate it!)

    (MOC) Crime Alley

I recently stumbled across an old MOC I'd done of Crime Alley and decided to share it. For these shots I was particularly focused on lighting and framing. I also was wanting to improve my photoshopping skills and the faces looked too cheery originally given the circumstances. So hopefully they look a bit more appropriate now. The alleyway was created by replacing the bricks on the side of the Palace Cinema with profile bricks.

    Vehicles: light mods

Hey guys! I don't know about you, but sometimes I think Lego designers could have done a little better when it comes to some parts of some sets. Case in point, a few of the vehicles in super-heroes' sets. Sometimes I look at a vehicle and find that there's just a little detail that's off, that could have been better to my eyes. I'm sure that many people wouldn't mind, but sometimes just a simple part swap will make a big difference. I'm not talking about accuracy to the real thing, since in most of the super-hero sets that Lego produces the vehicles aren't supposed to be a replica of a vehicle seen in the movies or comics. I'm fine with that, since if you want, you can replicate anything to your heart's content, and I like to see the ideas that Lego designers come up with - I usually really like their models. But sometimes things can be made better. What made me come up with these photos and post was the Batmobile from "Batmobile and the Two-Face Chase" set (#6864). I loved the car, but something was off. And then I saw the problem: the yellow wheels. I swapped the wheels and the yellow headlights and changed a bit the fenders and voilà! The car shined: The same happened with "Kryptonite Interception" (#76045). Though I'm aware that the car in the movie was not black but a dark grey (bley?), and that the front wheels should have some sort of armor, but a few part swaps and to my eyes the Lego version now looks better: The Batbike (I don't know what to call it) from set "Gotham City Cycle Chase" (#76053) is a typical case of Lego's creativity IMO. As far as I know, there never was nothing similar to that in the movies or comics, but I really liked the model. However, the way Batman had to "hang on for dear life" to ride it bothered me, so using just a few parts from my parts bin it now looks nicer. I really like the "Full Throttle" (anyone remember that?) look of it. I've seen quite a few renderings of Ghost Rider's flaming motorcycle in comics and cartoons, and being honest, none look very much like what Lego delivered us. And that's because traditionally, what is on fire are the wheels, something you'll never be able to reproduce in brick form unless you resort to pyrotechnics. So considering that, I say that Lego did a nice job with what they did in set "Spider-man: Ghost Rider Team-Up" (#76058). BUT, once again, I thought I could make it a little better: As you can see, all the examples above are very slight modifications, what I call "light mods". Nothing major, just a few part swaps, but to my eyes the models look a little nicer now. One thing that I've noticed is that you have to have the model in hands and then, with your spare parts, start changing things to see what can be done. Sometimes what seems to be a good idea won't look very hot in brick form, so you have to try it out. These are just some really simple mods, basically cosmetic details, that usually requires just a few different parts that most of us will have in the bin. Right now I'm waiting for parts for the Batmobile from "Batman: The Riddler Chase" (#76012) and as soon as "Jokerland" (#76035) set arrives I'll also do a light mod to both of those Batmobiles. Can't show the #76012 Batmobile yet because I ran out of black wheels . So, anyone else in the light mod business ? Sometimes you just need to see a photo of a moded model/set for things to click and you'll notice what your model needs to get better.

  5. Should or will DC's Suicide Squad and the Justice League join Lego Dimensions next? It seems like a natural fit since Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, the Joker, and Harley Quinn are already in Lego Dimensions. What about Suicide Squad? A bunch of Oddballs wrecking chaos in Lego- that's a riot waiting to happen! Here's a video detailing their strengths/attributes and weaknesses- http://bit.ly/dc-jla-ss Cheers! BoB
  6. To me Batman is the definite superhero ever since I was a child. Not only because of the Tim Burton film from 1989 was so much better than the Superman films (there wasn’t as much superhero-competition around back in the day!). I think what got me really hooked was the iconic animated series, which was launched a couple of years later, which picked up the tone of the film – and went off to give it its own and very distinctive feel. Oh, and it saw the first appearance of Harley Quinn, the mad psychiatrist, who fell for the Joker and became his hench-woman. One of the most iconic characters of the series, which leads us to today’s review of the Gotham City Cycle Chase, which features not only Batman and Deadshot, but also her in a prominent position! I happily admit that I didn’t really spent a thought on the bikes when getting this set. The character line-up was just too good for me to care about them. I wasn’t even sure if I would actually assemble them. I rather planned to use the parts for a proper batmobile instead (especially the tyres). But I figured, if I wanted to review the set, I should have at least assembled them once! When opening the box I was quite surprised to find the instructions in two volumes. I found that rather exotic for a relatively small set of 224 pieces, but it makes sense if you take into account that the pieces for the bikes come in different bags too. I think it is just meant to clarify the building process as much as possible and not mix up parts. As usual you start with putting together the minifigures. In this case its Batman and Harley Quinn. Deadshot follows in the second part of the instructions, together with the pieces for Batman’s bike. The characters seem to be modelled after the recent comics rather than the films, which works very well for me. I like Harley Quinn’s look in Suicide Squad, but I will never get used to stubby Batman ears. They just look as intimidating as cat-ears on a beanie-hat. Anyway, he looks pretty cool in this set and that’s the important thing here. The printing on his torso (back and front) is very neat. Just as you would expect it. It reminds me quite a lot on the 90s TV series. Sadly he doesn’t has dual-moulded legs or at least printing on them (yes, we are getting quite spoiled!). But he wears a new, soft fabric cape, which makes it easier to pose and sit him. Nice detail. The skin on his face is actually printed on a black head-piece. Quite unusual. It has a slightly more tanned look than other minifigures. Maybe Bruce Wayne is using spray tan to hide the lines of his mask? Harley features a lovely and quite extravagant blue and red outfit with corset and tiny metallic studs. It is really gorgeous to look at. No dual-moulding at the legs or the hair piece though. At least as far as I can tell as a non-injection-mould specialist. It at least appears to be painted rather, but looks very good and the colours are nicely separated. The little hole on top of her hair piece though just shouldn’t be there. But maybe it is an indicator that it was dual-moulded after all? Hard to tell. Her face is just perfect though. She looks cheerfully mad, which is just the right expressions for the character! Deadshot is a bit of an odd addition to the set. I would have expected a more classical villain from Gotham. Or maybe some random joker-henchman. He looks quite interesting though: His head and legs have a very cool metallic-colour, which gives the impression of a heavy armour suit. His torso and arms (he is the only character of this set who has printed arms) have some neat silver printing too. If you wouldn’t know better though, you would take him for a killer android instead of a guy in a metal suit. The only weirdness are the classic yellow hands, which look quite out of place on him. But since he has yellow gloves in the comics, that’s completely fine actually. Since he is the ony one in the set without a bike, he gets at least a quite impressive pair of gadgets for his job as sharpshooter: a king-sized bazooka-thing and a nice brick-build jetpack, which makes him not only very mobile, but also rather easy to hide and take the dark knight into his crosshair. The design of the bikes is relatively simple, with technic beams and connectors making up the frame. That makes them not only pretty lightweight, but also sturdy and quite modern and cyberpunk-looking. Not a bad thing at all. Building them is pretty straightforward too, as you would expect it. And thanks to the instructions and packaging it is almost impossible to pick the wrong pieces or the wrong places for them. The only part where I can imagine that inexperienced builders will have a moment of confusion or two will be putting the mounts for the wheels together. It’s not hard to do – just done in a pretty surprising way! All in all the bikes can’t quite meet the standards the minifigures, but at least they do a good job in matching the characters of their respective owners: Harley (perfect name for a biker btw!) Quinn’s bike is simply an odd thing with different sized wheels (big one front!) and an absurdly sized hammer mounted on a hinge, so that she can either punch down while passing by, or keep it tilted down and run people over with it. Not the most refined combat style, but simple and effective – and appropriately comical! Batman’s bike, on the other hand, is more refined and has some pretty nifty features: the rear fenders have stud-shooters and are mounted on ball-bearings, so they can be used quite effectively as gun turrets. Each of them also holds a clip for Batman’s gadgets, which are of course the typical batarang and a gun for shooting grappling hooks. Sadly it is mostly cosmetic though: it doesn’t has a rope or a shooting function. The overall appearance of the bike is more sleek and it looks really like something build for performance. Though, I am not quite sure what the rocket booster behind the driver seat is doing there. It is mounted about 45° upwards, so maybe it is supposed to create downforce – apart from not burning the tyre, as it would when pointing straight backwards! I am quite surprised what a lengthy review this became. Seems this set is a lot to talk about. I am quite happy that you get two of the most prominent characters of the franchise (and some other guy^^) at a comparably low price point. And they look indeed excellent. The bikes are pretty decent, too. Maybe a bit on the simple side, but they are totally fine for the price. I am very happy with the set and I’m sure it offers quite the play-value for kids too! Pieces: 224 Rating: 5/5 Also feel invited to check out my blog for more pictures!
  7. Being in a "Batmobile phase" for the last month or so, I thought I could try my hand at creating the Batmobile seen in Batman: The Animated Series (1992-1995) TV show. I have the full series in a DVD collection and really enjoyed the style of drawing, that to my eyes had a noir look to it that reminded me of the classic Batman, before Warner Bros transformed (and ruined) the character into a children's cartoon. And I specially like that Batmobile, with it's 1930's locomotive look, with that huge bonnet and small cabin. So the idea was to make it look like the car seen on the show but in minifig scale, and swooshable - no, I don't go around playing with my models making "vroom vroom" noises but I have to make them swooshable (according to my wife, I have the mind of a 12 year old, and she's ALWAYS right) . It is too tall for a minifig, but it was just impossible to make it shorter in height and in minifig scale, since I wanted to make the bonnet with the taller middle section and with the exhaust manifold showing. I guess I could make it one plate shorter if I used the new Speed Champions tires and wheels, but then the wheels would have looked too small. In the end, as a real car it looks totally ridiculous and huge, but I think it's a half decent representation of what you saw on TV. What do you guys think? PS: Looking at the images now I think I'll swap those vertical 1×2 black slopes on the sides of the cabin for two regular 1×2 tiles...

    (MOC) Memories of Crime Alley

This is my first MOC on Eurobricks and it's a vignette! It depicts Batman overlooking Crime Alley, remembering the events that happened. (MOC) Memories of Crime Alley by Aidan Kirchenbauer here's just a different angle at it(yes they have the same name but they're different pictures) (MOC) Memories of Crime Alley by Aidan Kirchenbauer I know that's only a few pictures but go to my Flickr for more! Have a nice day, or night(whichever time it is where you are)! And can someone help me post images straight to Eurobricks instead of just links. Because it wouldn't let me post the images from Flickr
  9. Hey folks This is an animation that I created with my friend Alex to represent our duke of Edinburgh walk, we spent around 140hrs on making this film over the course of 7 weeks, using a mixture of Lego, plasticine and model grass and trees. Weve hidden over 50 different references to some of our favourite movie or tv shows throughout the movie. Hope you enjoy the movie

    [MOC] The Batmobile

(I apologise in advance if these pictures are not very good, I used a large folder as a makeshift 'lightbox' and my iPhone's camera, so lighting may look very off.) My first MOC here on Eurobricks! Recently I decided that I wanted to build my own original version of Batman's iconic car (that, of course, being The Batmobile), taking influence from many different iterations of the vehicle. Firstly, I decided that I wanted to use the Speed Champions wheels in some way. They aren't so big that they look massive compared to a minifigure but at the same time they aren't so small that they look ridiculous. I then decided that I wanted to take a Batman Vs Superman approach and have 'armour' covering the wheels, which went on to become the skirting that covers pretty much the entire sides of the car. For the rear I couldn't forget about the giant exhaust (a flame piece can simply attach into the 2x2 dish), and I wanted to have a curved backing to the cockpit, similar to the Arkham Knight Batmobile. I thought the 2x2 'sliders' provided some good effect, for armour so I used them for the back of the cockpit and to shield the rear wheels. The cockpit uses a Speed Champions windshield. I thought this fit the aesthetic of the car nicely and can be hinged open to place Batman inside. Bats has to lay back, but can still 'grasp' the controls of the car. In front of the cockpit, you can see a six cylinder engine with trans-light blue hues. I actually used these hues in a few places, as I wanted to make the aesthetic pop a bit without ruining the 'Batman' feel of it, and at the same time I wanted to have some of my own elements in there. For the front I took some inspiration from the Burton Batmobile, and included an intake at the front. I also played around with wedge plates so the protrusion of the front wheels and headlights isn't just a lanky one stud wide extension. It adds a bit more depth and a spent a while trying tomlerfect the front alone. Originally the I take was completely absent and was somewhat sloped, though I thought it looks a bit too bland for the direction I was trying to take. Anyway, I think I've yammered on enough at this point! Thanks for looking, and any constructive criticism and feedback is welcome. :)

    [MOC] Batman's Bass Base

This work was based on Batman's Image who loves beat box in Lego movie. Transforming his Bat-base into "Bass" box, and adding some scenes in the Batman's movie which will be released in 2017. So, I use "Bass Base" as its name. Just for fun. Internal scenes: DJ stand with the speaker wall, this might be Batman's favorite. Lift "Hey mom, Hey dad, I saved the city again today. I think you are really proud" And the dinning room here, "I deserve this today, today I deserve it" (Batman with Lobster) Weapons wall Central control room It's the most wonderful thing to wear the pajama after a long long day. Front: vehicle runway. Batman's Vehicle: According to the six-wheel vehicle in LEGO Movie, to re-modify the size into one seat vehicle You could see more pictures in my flickr, https://flic.kr/s/aHskAqzE8h and my project in lego-ideas. 16. Hi all, sharing my latest MOC. The MOC is inspired by the video game, Batman: Arkham Asylum. The game was released in 2011. Love the whole new storyline which the Joker is trying to create an army of Bane-like creatures to threaten Gotham City. My MOC was based on the final part of the game where the Batman dealt with the Joker and his henchman on his party with the Commissioner Gordon tied up on the electrical chair. In the game, Harley Quinn was not there in the party. But I put in my MOC to enrich the whole vignette. END Hope you like and leave a comment if any. Thank you^^
  17. Recently modded control centre from the Batman and Superman vs Lex Luthor set from the Juniors range, including adding extra equipment, rotating chair, architectural details (finials etc), greebling and communications tech. Below a Ninjago vehicle modded quite some time ago including 'batmanning' it and giving it a jet ski.

    [MOC] Batman`s Bat-Jeep

We all know that the Dark Knight has a Vehicle for every Terrain and for each Environment. Now he also have one for Offroad Purposes. With those large Steel Panes he can plow through everything and the sharp Angles of the outer Shell was inspired by Stealth Bombers to obscure Batmans Ride from the Enemy Radar. Hope you like my newest Creation... I know,a Batmobile needs Fins, but i think they would just destroy the overall Look. I made the Car in yellow, black and grey to match the Microfighters Batman. Maybe the Roof will be switched one Day (because i need it for another MOC)
  22. Hi everyone, I have just made my lego version of the batmobile from the arkham knight game. I tried to make as closer to design as possible giving the scale I choose. It is not the first creation based on the model, there are plenty out there. But I think the main difference from the others is that mine does transforms from battle to vehicle mode and it does allow the wheels to turn 360 degrees when in battle mode. It includes one batman figure, It does transforms from vehicle to battle mode with the help of ratchet pieces for each wheel and a technique (bionicle arm) for the guns on top. Please check it on lego ideas website, there are more pictures of it on the lego ideas page of my model illustrating how it looks from different angles and modes. Please let me know what do you think of it (and please support it if you like it!) https://ideas.lego.com/projects/144126
  23. Hey Guys, i recently finished the new "Rescue from Ra`s Al Ghul" Set. I really like the Minifigs and the Building, but i don`t really like the Batmobile in this Set. So i thought about "hey, why not designing your own Offroad Batmobile?" And a few Minutes later in LDD,the new Offroad Batmobile was born.Kinda looks like a Tank or an APC.I was inspired by the Hydra Tank from "Hydra Fortress Smash" but made the Vehicle smaller. The Design is very sleek but the Car still looks sturdy enough to burst through ancient Walls or Concrete. I reused the Stud Shooters from the Original Vehicle. So,what do you think of it?
