[CH3A] - Discovering The Fountain of Youth

After the agents of the Crown and the much esteemed Oleander cartographers pinpointed the "almost exact" location of the Fountain of Youth according to the rumors already in circulation, an expedition from the already bustling city of Belson took off in order for the Fountain of Youth to be found for the glory of our mighty nation! Preparations were assigned to Hugo D' Offren, an officer of the Crown that had proved its value more than once on these rough lands across this hostile ocean that had already claimed many ships and sailors. Sadly for Hugo, the leadership of this expedition was assigned to an Oleander noble (obviously due to his closer family ties with the King), freshly arrived from the mainland. Ooh, how infuriating that was for Hugo, especially now that he had already established his name and capabilities at New Terra Islands... And so the expedition reached this underwater grotto that their big ships couldn't navigate in. Three rowboats were downed at the sea with their crew hand picked. One rowboat full of marines was to guard the entrance of this grotto from the cliff above, just in case... But obviously they had their fair share of action as well... ...while the rest were about to proceed inside. Hearty, muscular sailors started to row and navigate around shallow reefs with underwater eyes always fixed on them... And when the light was about to abandon them, they gasped in amazement... The cave they reached was glittering with something like gold dust in the air (later on, due to an Eslandolan invention called magnifying glass, they found out they were really small fireflies), it smelled strangely pleasing and above all... it was teeming with plants and vines! How could that be??? What we used to learn at our academies back home, was that plants couldn't survive without sunlight. Yet this underwater cave was full of glorious plants and vines! That must sure be the work of this small but deep pond in the middle of the cave... We had just discovered... The Fountain of Youth!!! What is not told at this story is that many years later, scientists found out that the water in the pond was not miraculous at all. It contained some forms of bacteria along with some sulfur that nourished the skin and made it look younger. But until then, we will let our protagonists be happy that they achieved immortality C&C always welcome! In the jungle searching for Pirate lord's hidden gold mine

...And so the search party has begun entering the deep jungle of Ile de Tyche in search of the Pirate Lord's hidden gold mine... This MOC was created to advance the campaign of Oleon at Ile de Tyche (formerly known as "The Trap"), in search of the Pirate Lord's hidden gold mine. CC welcomed as always! Stumbling and falling our men press forward with the help of a scout and the adamant resolve of Hugo D' Offren. Always guarding Hugo, Tom "Juggernaught" Jones with his dual "cannons". After the failed attack at Eltina, Oleander colonial leaders decided it was to their best interest if Eltina had some enhanced fortifications. Alas, with Eltina built on rather flat grounds with not much wood around (since most of the nearest small forests were cut down in order to establish sugar plantations), earthen fortifications were the most suitable solution. Below, our Oleon finest, enjoy themselves building them. And of course, given the significance of the fortifications in our proud military history, nothing less than a Field General was needed to supervise the whole task.

Fishing and trade post at Zeus' island [OL - FB1]

Situated at the mouth of River of True Faith, just outside Astrapi settlement at Zeus' island and built on a bare rock, this fishing post provides most of the fish sold at the island and the waters around it. Hugo d'Offren spent a day there to evaluate the fish drying process and buy food for the fleet. (I wanted to try a build on a barren rock without greenery and i have yet to find a solid way of making flat builds that aren't somewhat boring. "How Eltina was saved - CH2b" or The semaphore station�

"20th of Anthesterion, The year of 616AE of our holy gods Dear Magdalene, I miss you so much but I can't imagine wishing you were here, with me, in this harsh environment. The blistering sun alone would have made your pale skin look terrible. Here in the New World time passes by quickly, as we constantly have to organize not only our King's men, military and civil servants, but also all those ignorant but pompous private merchants that seek to make a fortune out of these islands. Especially difficult is the task of communication between our colonies that are under constant threat from our neighboring nations, those red vultures in particular. Last week I had to stay away from my usual seat at Breshaun and was stationed at one of our lesser colonies, Eltina, in Le Bellan island. Eltina is mainly an agricultural "support" colony as we call it these days, with ample of sugar plantations that produce the much needed sugar canes for our rum, the so called spice of the eastern hemisphere. Due to the nature of this colony, we don't have many men stationed there as more and more men are needed to our ever growing Breshaun both to maintain order and safeguard those self righteous nobles that seems to flock the New World islands these days. Peace maintenance and guard duties in Eltina fall only to a handful of men, a company of (mostly) elder soldiers that are close to their end of military service. This company is based on a newly erected building that acts as barracks (as totally opposed to the barracks building I described you back in Breshaun) and as a semaphore station. What is semaphore you might ask? Well this is a fairly new invention from our genius scientist, Depillon that made our lives easier. No more messenger pigeons for us. They couldn't work here as there is too much heat and there are way too many vultures flying over our heads. So, semaphore is basically a very high mast with two moving planks on its sides that can be turned around. That way we can signal messages back to Breshaun in a matter of minutes. Two operators are enough for this towering masterpiece to work efficiently. And what an invaluable asset it proved! Three days ago, our vile neighbors, those Corrish scum, that roam the sea east of Le Bellan and secretly smuggle sugar canes from Eltina, had some plan. They knew that Eltina was poorly guarded and decided to raid the colony! Why pay for sugar canes when you can get them for free is what they obviously thought and they had right. I would have done the same to them any time! Anyway, just in the nick of time, one of our troops stationed at the semaphore station's upper floor, saw four sails bearing Corrish military flags, coming at great speed towards Eltina. Thankfully, the experienced operators of the semaphore relayed the message fast to Breshaun and the governor immediately sent a battalion horse riding as fast as they could to help us. Upon reaching Eltina, fortunately in time, they were deployed on the shore bearing our flags and ready to fight. When those coward Corrish saw that we were ready for them and that they had lost the element of surprise, they turned their ships and fled. And that's exactly how Eltina was saved... Faithfully yours, Hugo D' Offren" The short version? Corries came to Eltina, saw, never conquered This building is a true army-in-being! Expedition into the Mangrove This is my Challenge I category B entry. Gideon de Bothnia is leading an Oleander expedition to a newly discovered island, with a small detachment of marines sent by his brother Alexandre who is a high ranking officer in the Oleander fleet. In the great push for exploration, most people don't seem to mind if the national resources of the navy are "borrowed" by entrepreneurs who are trying to make personal gains from the exploration. After all, it's all for the glory of Oleon! Much of the shores of the new island is covered with thick mangrove, but finally they have found a gap in the mangrove where during the low tide they are able to land with one of the smaller ship’s boats. Now they can make their first footsteps on this virgin soil, but now the members of the expedition anxiously wonder if they are the first to land on this island or if someone has come here before them? More pictures: For those of you interested in how I shot this, here is another "behind the scenes" shot. This time I tried to play a bit with off camera lighting with my old Olympus FL-50R and a cheap umbrella setup I bought a while ago.

After much pain and hurry, here is my answer to the Duel: Feast at "The Spin of Fate". Now a free-build by itself! Hugo wasn't eager to fight with Elysabeth Drondil as, due to his character, took it lightly as every other thing in his life. Or was arrogant enough and was sure he would win? So one day before the duel, he called his friends from the fleet for a drink, at "The Spin of Fate", where the drinks are cold and the girls are hot! The establishment took its name after the wheel (of fortune) that you can see right above the door that leads to the kitchen. That wheel belonged to the first owner of this place that came to the Sea of Storms with all his belongings on a cart. I had tons of fun making this build, which reminded me once more that i am a huge minifig and acessories lover and have the fig-fever. Contrary to the lies Eslandolans are spreading to the Old world (probably to hinder our advance and occupation of these new lands), Oleanders aren't "savages". Well not the kind of savages that murder native population... After the initial unrest caused by the landing of our benevolent troops, which forced the natives into hiding, things calmed down. Hugo even took an (armored, you never know) bodyguard and visited a local village. Careful at first, the natives quickly opened up and they even offered a tour around the village showing the various aspects of their living. Hugo's mind filled with new stuff he never imagined possible. The thing that impressed him the most, was the way locals foraged some huge banana growing palm trees. They used trained monkeys tied with a rope that did all the hard work for them by climbing up the trees and bringing banana fruits to their handlers. Life had never been easier! Voila some natives in action. Once again forgive my photographing environment (my old trusted glass table on the balcony), since i haven't created a photo-booth with a white background yet. But these straw kind-of-fence, does the trick by transporting us to more exotic places, doesn't it? Close up

As a kid, drooling over the early 90's Lego catalogues, I imagined the Eldorado Fortress as having a vast complex of dungeons and storage rooms inside that large raised baseplate. Before heading off to the Dark Ages of college, I had been thinking about building a huge imperial fortress. To allow access to the interior, it would have to fold open. So, when I started building again a couple of years ago, this project was first on my list. The fort, situated on a hollowed out rock (because bluecoats apparently are incredibly crafy engineers). The rear provides access to the interior. Most openings are large enough for a humand hand. The sides of the fort come off... ...to provide total access to the interior. I really enjoyed the challenge of building this largest building I had ever built, thanks to excess time and my discovery of bricklink. But during the build I discovered I had little inspiration to create a nice and detailed interior. And, looking back, my skills were really basic. Oh well, at least it has some cool play features.... A large set of doors is built into the rocks at the front of the cliffside... ...allowing access for small boats to the little docking area inside. Once offloaded, supplies can be hoisted through several floors to the storage room, using a crane. On the other side of the fortress, the small windows of the dungeons can be seen. But it would be hard to place a minifig in them through the prison doors on the inside... ..so the dungeon outer wall just comes off, revealing the interior. Most of the interior is just... empy rooms and hallways... but you can spot the bunk beds, dungeons and governor's office. The dining room The armory The rotatable 48-pounder. The fine men of the classic bluecoat army. This has been an excellent study in large scale building, and it has taught me that I really need to pay more attention to interior detail. Since then, I have built some classic castle things, but for now, I'll stick to sci-fi, there's a lot more freedom when it comes to detailing. Hi guys, Here is my entry at PTV 2015 Large division. Judgement Day. Because after all, all this pillaging and stealing has a sure end! Historically only 5% got away with pirate life. So that leaves us with 95% hanged pirates. Even small children working at pirates sloops didn't make it. There is also one record with a hanged pirate that was caught after serving only a couple of days in a pirate ship. Talking about bad luck! I tried to include every pirate drama in this MOC. Anger (angry mob), Satisfaction (governor), Love (lieutenant with governor's daughter), Fear (pirates ready to be hanged), Hope or Revenge (pirates ready to storm the execution). Thanks for watching and wish you all luck. UPDATE! (gory version) It turned out that the bluecoats had it coming! The rioters were nothing but a bunch of fellow pirates! From some time I was thinking about building something similar to LEGO Creator modulars but in Pirates style. Then I spotted contest on Eurobricks forum which motivated me to finish my little project. On the Bluecoat-held Caribbean island of Sainte-Salacious lies the most ancient and prestigious Académie des Mousquetaires, where the bravest recruits for the Bluecoat Army receive their training as musketeers. While at the Académie, recruits learn swordsmanship, marksmanship, some light typing, and occasionally are beaten with raw fish. When they graduate, the recruits join the ranks of the most elite unit of the Bluecoat Army, the illustrious musketeers, who dream of little else but the day when they will meet their Redcoat foes in battle, and then afterward type up the after-action report. The building, itself, was built in 1562 by the Spanish as part of the monastery of Saint Salacious, who was martyred in the 9th Century while trying to introduce non-alcoholic beer and anger-management to the Scots. The island was named by the Spanish explorers who landed there in 1517 and contracted trichinosis from eating the local wild pigs. And now, here is my MOC, which is part of my larger building project to document life on the strange little island of Sainte-Salacious: Sometimes the musketeers do charity work, such as this musketeer teaching swordplay to a young street ruffian as revenge for the boy's mother saying she doesn't date soldiers. The monument to the greatest musketeer of all time..... whose name escapes everyone.... The Bluecoat guard on the left is not overly thrilled to be wasting his youth guarding a door, while the guard on the right is just plain tickled not to have been posted to an actual combat unit. The roof comes off for ventilation on very hot days. Apparently. A bizarre little ritual, but a necessary part of the training. Apparently some of the bricks in the wall started to separate when I carried it downstairs to photograph it. Ah well, free lighting. I had wanted to use more vegetation in the courtyard, but I'm saving my trees for a different project.

Greetings! Finally finished my Bluecoat frigate. Don't have a name yet - that's proving to be difficult to settle on, but I have some ideas. I based her on plans and paintings of French frigates from the mid-18th Century, and the build owes a LOT to the "Build A Frigate" tutorial, as well as quite a few gorgeous ships I've seen posted on this site, so thanks to everyone who posted pictures of your ships! Here is the overview. The ship is about 66cm tall and 87cm long, and is the largest ship I've built. Fully Rigged Ship, Three Masts 20B The figurehead is a little dull. I haven't settled on a name for the ship yet, so the figurehead probably will be changing. 2nd Battalion of Bluecoat Marines. The ship's launch. A Bluecoat infantry officer hitching a ride. The capstan does not work, but I'll probably change that soon. I kinda like the way the masts turned out, but even with reinforcing inside of them, they are way too fragile for the ship to be played with. Since my goal is always playability, I'll probably change the masts soon. I do enjoy making custom flags. Come on, now - I'm not the only ship builder here who likes croissants. It was not easy to get the tumblehome to line up with the part of the cabin that juts out, but I like the way it turned out. I really like the way the outside of the captain's cabin came together. I tried quite a few different looks before I finally found one I liked. And of course you know I'm going to have a binnacle. I love binnacles, but I don't like trying to build them. Deck comes off to expose the captain's cabin. Brunch is served. I wanted to do a tiled pattern for the cabin floor, but did not have enough pieces, so hardwood it is! I kind of like the way it looks. I might also change the ship's wheel. This one is okay, but I can do better. I don't think the ship's cook is as French as he claimed on his résumé. The ship's bell again - it was a little challenge to build it with a clapper, but I like the way it turned out. I haven't made the sails yet. I'm going to wait until I know whether or not I'm going to redesign the top masts, and I'm also going to make all the sails for all my ships at once. Thanks for looking! ~ Plaid Beard

Hello everybody, I 'll try to present myself as a classic lego sets fan by using this not that hugely modified El Dorado classic pirates set. The goal was to keep much of the charm of the classic sets and creating the atmosphere of those old style lego catalouges. Hope you 'll like it guys :) This is it, a small port town with its pier, tavern, fort, small mansion and a beach with gold digging pirates: A few close-ups And another shot with my redention of the anchored Caribbean Clipper in the forefront Please do give me suggestions and comments since I'm new at this!

Hello again everybody, while I might risk sounding a bit like a spoiled brat, I 'll still tell you the "story" of my first "pirate theme" ship. Remember drooling over those 1989, 1990 and 1991 lego catalouges with the great Black Seas Barracuda (6285) and while the Skull's Eye Schooner (6286) was a far more elaborate ship, thoes red sails got imprinted in my retina. The BSB was simply my dream ship, and I asked my parents if they ever get the chance to get me that "red sail ship" and they got me the "red sail ship", only it wasn't BSB it was the Imperial Flagship (6271). That was my childhoods first and only lego pirate theme ship. I really liked that ship after I got used to the fact that it is not the actual red sail ship, but I still remember the initial disappointment that it wasn't the BSB. You can notice the size difference on this photo between 6271 and the modded 6285: A year ago I got the BSB and really loved it, but felt it was a bit small now that I've grown, so I modded it into a bit longer three masted ship. And with BSB around I felt the Imperial flagship was kinda outgunned in every possible way, and didn't feel that, even thoe it looks faster, the ships commander would ever sail into an engagment facing a ship as big as BSB. So I decided to make my own version. Btw, I always preferd the blue coats over the red coats. So ladies and pirates this is it: Brig - Two Masts - One Square Sail on the Main 6C Just kidding :D This was something I built during my dark age, one night I was back at my folks home going trought lego boxes. My first idea was to try and see if it looked any better in blue coats colours and I'll let you be the judge of that: And then I started planing for the total rehull. Orderd another hull mid section and parts for another mast and a few windows, and this is what I came up with (ofcourse used my lego stash aswell), a blue coats version of imperial flagship named "Impérial": It actually isn't fair to compare it to my moded version of BSB since I made it quite bigger, but still think that the commander of "Impérial" could face the BSB with a fighting chance on the high seas: The ships bow with the figurehead: And the stern: Hope you like the new blue coats flagship!

[pid][/pid] 156C Hi Here, I present to you Bluecoats Ship l’Hermes, the fastest ship on the seven seas. She’s a Sebeus’ Zephyr-class brig. Here’s a story. Sebeus I, the Pirate once worked for the Bluecoats, but eventually his pirate nature won. Bluecoats couldn’t stand the fact, that they lost Zephyr, the fastest ship that ever was. So they decided to build something even faster. They took Zephyr’s plans and they improved it (at least they thought so). They changed bow, stern, masts etc, leaving only broadsides untouched, as they found it perfect. So here it is: Hermes, owner of winged sandals and winged cap, messenger of the gods, god of commerce, thieves, travelers, sports, athletes, and border crossings, guide to the Underworld. Hermes is a brig built on a small prefab hull with two midsections. Small hull is pretty narrow, but that makes ship very fast with these big machine-sewn pvc-fabric sails. I built the sides using Sebeus’ “simplified tumblehome” technique. Not-so-simple, you know Lifeboat can be lowered down. I’ve never seen this kind of solution before, so I guess I’m the first one to build it (or not?). Notice the stern, I’m pretty proud of it. I’ve made all of lines by myself, using flax (linen) thread, as I couldn’t get hemp-made one (you know why), like those used on real tallships in the sail-age. But it looks similar I think, besides you can’t get high with flax other way than just climbing. Hermes has an interior and a captain’s cabin as well. It’s rather tight, but its fully accessible and it’s probably first one built on a SMALL hull (is it?). Only issue is that plume must be taken off the hat before closing roof. On the left: bluecoat infantry. They are to help musketeers - famous Cocteau Twins (in front of a picture) in their secret mission ordered by Roi-Soleil himself. On the right you can see marines commanded by Admiral Jean Marie Baptiste Louis Francois Brickeur Comte de Stud. There are no sailors on the picture because they actually took this photo. Hello together, I am a big Bluecoat fan since christmas 1989 and I am very glad about their return. I have a relativly big army of blue and redcoats at home. The new wave gives me a problem. What is that for a guy? We have a Governor and a cooler fighting daughter: We have a officer with a golden epaulette: an Admiral or Captain: and the normal soldier with white epaulettes: I really don´t know what the hatless guy with white epaulette shall be. If he was a officer, he would have a golden epaulette. A normal soldier would have a hat and backpack. What is he a disciplinless soldier ? A new rank like a corporal ? Or is the like the admiral a shipless sailer? What do you think and how are you going to use the fig?

Here you can the the port itself, it is build to be a save bay for all merchants and the imperial fleet. It would be very difficult to attack the harbor directly. You see the imperial tradingpost 6265 Sabre Island, 6266 Canon Cove, 6244 Armada Sentry Imperial Trading Post 6277, Imperial Outpost 6263, 6276 Eldorado Fortress and hidden the 6259 Broadsides Brig 6242 Soldiers-Fort, 6267 Lagoon Lock-Up A few days before today, the bluscodes conquered the 6271 Imperial Flagship. 6274 Cari. Clipper is also damaged in harbor. This is a part of the city, with 4183 the Mill and 4193 Escape from London and 6259 Broadsides Brig This is the market, and on the other side of the street are a few houses. Look, a bad pirate is kidnapping the girl on the balcony Look, we are lucky to see the famous Capt. Roger Redbeard while buying a map. Thats the backside of the Towngate of Port Royal Ohhh, the battle just began!!! Governor Broadeside has his headquater for the battle on the top of the towngate. The Admiral of the Redcoats are in the back of his armee near to 1872 Imperial Guard Camp and 6247 Bounty Boat Thats a overview of the beginning battle. bluecoats are organized in several regiments, the Red.... the white, the yellow and the guards of the Governor (under the flag of the crossing sabre) The Reds have 4 regiments, too. Here the Yellow. The red regiment. We see here the first exciting action of the battle. The Redcoats broken the lines of the yellow regiment of the bluecoats at the westside of the battleground. The blue regiment of the redcoats have done a great job and they have a target. They try to enter the strategicly important 1795 Imperial Cananon, but look the Guards of the Governor is entering the westside of the battlegroung to defeat the Imperial Cannon and rescue the yellow regiment. The allied of the Redcotas, the Armada, is attacking at the weakpoint of the bluecoats as well. In the meanwhile the Cannonball and the 10210 Imperial Flagship is fighting near to the cost. Armada Flagship is also fireing, but it is in troubble itself.... because it is under fire of 6245 Harbor Sentry How will tghe battle end? Hi guys! So it's been almost two years... no... damn... it's been two years since TOR III and I've just realized that I still have some comics that I've made back then but I didn't have time to edit... so I've recently sat again to finish them, and here You have an another episode complete. Hi guys. So I didn't make it with my entries, but I have just finished my story I'have worked on for w while and that I want to share with You - it depicts what happend with Rifleman Mazin since his visit at the Headhunter's office It's rather long to... but hopefully You're gonna get to the end and enjoy it... Hello, now, it is time to present a fortress on an island that is inspired by 6265 "Sabre Island": And I am very happy to do so: As you may recall, the Sabre Island set as a blue coat rowing towards the island. My island version is slightly bigger... There is a brave guard awaiting the boat: Aerial view (not historically correct ) On one side of the island we find a waterfall (through which you get into the inside of the rock) On the other side there is a cave (with a secret door that this unlucky guy obviously did not find) The different levels of fortress and rock are accessible .. and everything is modular: (The monkey will come in later) The white background makes it easier to spot a few things: I hope you like this island fortress - and I am looking forward to comments and questions!
